0 Romania’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf Breathe Secret Wars Through New Music Video “Bellicose”, Video Premiere via IDIOTEQ

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 13, 2021

For fans of Every Time I Die, Cancer Bats, Brand New, The Chariot, Chevelle

Romania’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf  Breathe Secret Wars Through New Music Video “Bellicose”

Video Premiere via IDIOTEQ

New Album “Bellicose” Out Now!

“Bellicose” is the sonic representation of furious anger aimed at the clashing worlds that keep colliding onto us, turning us into feral beasts, nurturing the darkest of wishes, bidding serenity a sickening farewell. It is the title track of the 2020 album from Romania’s The Boy Who Cried Wolf and they are now presenting it in video form.

According to the band, “Bellicose” was recorded back in 2018, but it was such an anthemic song for them, that they included it twice on the album, in both electric and acoustic versions where it boosts the overall theme, “the rage that can rise up inside each and every one of us”. They further explain the meaning behind the song:

“It’s a renewed struggle to face off the world of the living by singing about our dead hopes and tribulations. The only salvation anyone really has, when they’re a kid trapped in an adult body, trying to be a citizen of the world or even a society, is the inspiration to create such worlds where you can be the victor or at least be honest with yourself, by screaming your fears, anger, and frustration out loud.”

The Boy Who Cried Wolf makes angry music they claim is medicinal for them, and they hope it will be like a pill to swallow for fans when they feel like they have lost their grip on serenity. The band is heavy-hitting hardcore recommended for people who enjoy processing their problems through music and fans of Every Time I Die, Cancer Bats, and Brand New.

Watch the video for “Bellicose” via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

The album “Bellicose” was released on December 12, 2020 and available at TBWCW.bandcamp.com.

About:
The Boy Who Cried Wolf started when two local bands (CHESTER and Breathelast) from Bucharest collided. Bogdan Purghel “Bacovia” (guitar/bass/vocals) and Mihai Ionut Andrei (vocals) reached out to drummer Alexandru Guta (PZFI, Backstage Hero) to give it a sincere go at writing wild and fast-paced music that would satiate their primal desires. They are heavily inspired by old-school metal combined with hardcore and punk vibes although other sounds may occur.

0 Canada’s Cavedweller Come At You With The Blistering Brutality Of “Slow Death”, Music Video Premiere via TheCirclePit

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 5, 2021

For fans of Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, The Chariot, Chelsea Grin, Whitechapel, Traitors

Canada’s Cavedweller Come At You With The Blistering Brutality Of “Slow Death”

Music Video Premiere via TheCirclePit

“Slow Death” is anything but slow; it’s a manic whirlwind of deathcore, complete with a fresh breath of breakdowns, enticing both old and new fans who will feel like they are discovering a new sound. If you took a racing scene from a Nicholas Cage movie and combined it with that scene from The Shining where Jack Nicholson is breaking down that door with an axe, that would be this new track from Fredericton’s Cavedweller.

The band’s EP “Primal” came out in 2020 and this new stand-alone single is devised to whet fans palate before an expected 2021 full-length release.

Cavedweller comments on the song:

““Slow Death” is a song our drummer originally pitched to us. Most of the structure was there, so we just played around with it a little bit, worked out some kinks, played around with time signatures for a little bit, and eventually ended up with the finished product. Lyrically, the song is about being trapped in a cycle of life, living the same day by day routine and schedule until death.”

Looking to leave an impression with this single, Cavedweller chose this fast, heavy hitter to be their first video. It’s abrasive, in your face and the chaos doesn’t relent for a second.

For this track, drummer Sam Brown came up with the core groove initially, and each of the members threw their own spices into it. Pulling inspiration from the heavy side of the spectrum, proggy rhythmically driven influences, and the core subgenre, the result is quick and dirty, high energy good times, and a raw approach to metal.

Groovy and sporadic with a healthy dose of breakdowns, Cavedweller is recommended for fans of Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, and The Chariot.

The video for “Slow Death” can be watched via its premiere on TheCirclePit HERE.

About:

Cavedweller is four homies from the small town of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada that play groovy riffs, and crushing breakdowns.

Cavedweller is Cujo Bonvie (vocals), Alex Sturgeon (bass), Sam Brown (drums), and Brad Kenny (guitar), four guys who have known each other from the local scene for years. Brown and Sturgeon used to play together in local act Blueprints, and Bonvie was a regular attendee to local shows, and played in a number of local bands, including Dumpster Mummy, Panda Bee Catastrophe, and The Mind Unleashed. Once the four of them started jamming, the chemistry was evident and the rest is history.

In 2019, the band recorded their demo “Free-Sushi” which was followed up in 2020 with the EP “Primal”. The EP was mixed and mastered themselves; guitars were recorded in Sturges room, drums at a friend’s place, and mastered at Kenny’s place. During the recording process at Sturges, a lightsaber battle broke out between Sturge and Kenny to determine whose masters would be the ones released. It was a long and intense battle, but Kenny was ultimately the victor.

There is a wide range of influences coursing through the blood of the band including hardcore, punk, deathcore, and a little bit of prog-metal, and the final result is best suited for fans of Chelsea Grin, Whitechapel, and Traitors.

Cavedweller has played with several bands in their short history and expects to have a full length out by the end of 2021.

Don’t be shy, come show us what you’ve got in the pit!

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album “Making Out With My Death” this past June.

As a whole, Junkowl‘s debut album“Making Out With My Death” is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes.

With the state of the current world of Covid days and societal ills, Junkowl is unveiling their new music video “Sickness Lives” via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

Vocalist Jesse Frechette adds:

“We had a lot of fun shooting this video. It’s our second time working with Dark Moon Productions, and we’re really stoked to share this one. We chose the song ‘Sickness Lives’ because we found it really fit with the times. The track is about living in a sick society ruled by greed, and turning to drugs and alcohol to try and escape that reality… but now with everything going on in the world, I’m sure people will interpret it differently and we’re okay with that.”

For fans of Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die, and Underoath, Junkowl‘s “Making Out With My Death” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

About:

Heavy, sexy, and southern. Those are the best words to describe Montreal’s Junkowl.

Formed in 2017, their unique blend of groove metal, stoner, and hardcore is matched with high energy ‘in your face’ performances. A year earlier Jesse Frechette (vocals) met Dom Labrie (drums) and after a few jams they picked up Marco Larosa (guitar) and Samuel Matte (bass) and the rest is history. The writing process is a collaborative one, with melodies and vocals usually forming on the spot.

Moving through the underground music scene, Junkowl quickly made a name for themselves when they won the 2019 ‘En Route Vers Heavy Montreal’; a competition between nearly 200 bands, landing them a spot at that year’s edition of renowned metal festival Heavy Montreal.

On June 5th, 2020, they will release their debut album, “Making Out With My Death”, a 10 track record full of sultry and powerful songs about past regrets and self-destructive behaviour. It includes the band’s favourite “10,000 Vultures”, the first song Junkowl ever wrote, which was completed after the first jam together. Almost all the lyrics were freestyle during that jam.

With no sign of slowing down, Junkowl has more tunes in the works and pouring passion into their live performances and newly recorded tunes. Stay tuned for party animal blues; fat spliffs and heavy riffs.

“2019 Winners of En Route to Heavy Montreal”

“The dirty, fat Stoner Sludge Metal riff of “Snakecharmer” is one designed to be accompanied by a beer and the gut-wrenching roar of “blow your brains out, blow my brains out” that brings it to it to its unnatural conclusion will no doubt be chanted by audiences across all lands as the band hit the road.” – Metal Noise“Montreal hardcore rock n rollers Junkowl have released their new single ‘Quarantine Us All’, a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groove metal.
It’s ferocious and relentless from the offset, even when it veers out of hardcore territory and into the sludgier moments. It even has some technical moments, although they certainly borrow heavily from their influences (namely Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats) it is a banger in it’s own right, and given some time to breathe and develop I think this band could bring something monumental to the table.” – Backseat Mafia““Quarantine Us All” – Montreal’s southern rock infused metallers JUNKOWL drop new venomous track” – Idioteq

“the group combines very heavy stoner riffs with the energy of punk rock and hardcore. A group to discover absolutely.” – Mad Breizh

“stoner-like riffs, a bit of a hardcore sound overall.. cool edge to it too.” – Moshtpit Radio – WORT FM 89.9 (Madison, WI)

“Junkowl’s debut album Making Out With My Death is a powerful first offering from the independent hard rock band.  Its musical arrangements join influences from a variety of bands that make the songs in themselves and from one to the next, powerful just from this aspect.  The record’s lyrical themes are just as heavy as its musical content, as noted.  Its sequencing puts the finishing touch to its presentation.  Each noted item is important in its own way.  All things considered, they make the album a work that bodes well for Junkowl’s future.” – Phil’s Picks

And speaking of in your face drums, today, Junkowl‘s drummer Dominic Labrie is sharing with fans his playthrough video for the track “Snakecharmer”. The track itself is about thinking you’re possessed by demons and trying to kill them, only to realize that the demons were actually just your own evil manifesting in your head.

Labrie adds:

“It was hard for me to pick a song to play off our album because I like them all. I picked “Snakecharmer” because it has a solid intro, a good flow and I really enjoy playing the heavy outro.”

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album “Making Out With My Death” on June 5th.

While the band has been under lockdown like many others, they were able to get together to record a new off the floor acoustic version of their track “Crawling Up My Feet”. The track is a stripped-down version of a song about “falling in love with someone when you’re depressed or struggling with addiction, and essentially about how it’s pretty much impossible to love someone properly when you don’t love yourself” and truly showcases the raw emotion it projects.

Watch the video via its premiere on V13.net HERE.

The band comments:

“We’re really excited for this album to drop and for people to be able to listen to our music in a different way, and of course to have the opportunity to reach out to a larger audience. We just hope people have as much fun listening to this record as they do coming to our shows. That’s the goal anyway.”

It even has some technical moments, although they certainly borrow heavily from their influences (namely Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats) it is a banger in it’s own right, and given some time to breathe and develop I think this band could bring something monumental to the table.” – Backseat Mafia

““Quarantine Us All” – Montreal’s southern rock infused metallers JUNKOWL drop new venomous track” – Idioteq

“the group combines very heavy stoner riffs with the energy of punk rock and hardcore. A group to discover absolutely.” – Mad Breizh

“this Montreal band is a whole other thing. Junkowl deals in a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, which has been called ‘party animal blues’. Which makes their debut album “Making Out With My Death” coming June 5, such a curveball.” – Cashbox Canada

“they’ve made a name for themselves in the ol’ Heavy Metal City™ with their energetic performances. And you know they have what it takes, since they won this year’s En Route Vers Heavy and literally earned their spot to perform. So technically speaking, this is gonna be an award-winning performance!” – Forget The Box (Heavy Montreal 2019 preview)

“I had the pleasure of being a judge at En Route Vers Heavy and these guys were my number one choice. I am so happy they won and got to follow their dream. They fucking destroyed.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. A slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, the band’s debut album “Making Out With My Death” is due out June 5, 2020.

Today, the 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are ready to reveal the second single ‘Quarantine Us All’, a very fitting track to match the current times as the world deals with the Coivid 19 pandemic. The song itself is about feeling like you have nothing positive to offer and feeling that the ones you love would be better off if you we’re not around.

To listen to ‘Quarantine Us All’, please visit Idioteq.com for its premiere HERE.

As a whole, “Making Out With My Death” is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes. Vocalist Jesse Frechette explains the lyrical content on the album:

“Most of my lyrics are about past regrets or self-destructive behaviour. Kind of indulging in negative thoughts and emotions. A lot of them were written while I was wasted. I like to think that the next album will have a much different lyrical theme but hey, old habits die hard.”

For fans of Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die, and Underoath, “Making Out With My Death” is available for pre-order HERE.

N E K E R is an Italian solo metal artist that has already conquered several countries across Europe since beginning in 2013 and has now set his attention to the masses across the Atlantic, specifically Eastern Canada. The loud, dirty and noisy project will hit the shores of the Great White North on April 3, 2019, and play 9 gigs in 10 days.

Now with a refined live trio that has re-recorded the original release ‘Louder’, as well as the debut single ‘Sleeping Memories’ that was later released as a music video, N E K E R,  is keeping a proud southern sound with subtle elements of metalcore and death metal. His live show not to be missed especially by fans of Pantera, Down, and Everytime I Die.

N E K E R adds:

“The first album, Louder, is above all instinct but in a good way. I put in it everything that was in my mind at that time, no frills. This was partly due to the fact that I couldn’t wait to show my work to the world.”

BIO:

N E K E R is an Italian Southern metal project that came into being in 2013 initially as a solo project, after N E K E R’s (bass/vocal) departure from a now defunct metalcore band. He intended to create a sound with strong southern influences without forgetting the years spent playing and listening to genres such as post-hardcore, screamo, and metalcore.

In 2015, with the recruitment of Alessandro Eusebi (guitar) and Daniele Alessi (drums), the live band was fully formed and they hit the studio to re-record the single “Sleeping Memories” with the aim to make an official video. The video was released in January 2016 and the live band took to touring. Later in 2016 “Louder” was re-recorded and supported with a European tour. Having conquered several countries across Europe solo artist N E K E R set his attention to the masses across the Atlantic as well as recording another album.
