Hailing from London, Canada, Skyless Aeons bring forth a unique blend of extreme metal styles with their first full-length album “Drain The Sun” due out October 2nd, 2020.

Meticulous and methodical, the writing process for “Drain The Sun” was roughly two years long, the songs being shaped and directed according to the concept the band created. The band shares the inspiration being the album:

“Our inspiration comes from the faults in the human condition we encounter in our everyday lives: greed, over-consumption, over-population, the failure to recognize our dogmatic beliefs are wrong leading to division. The music serves as a warning call to what will happen if we fail to recognize the error of our ways, some of which we already see happening in civil unrest.”

Compared to the initial release, the new offering maintains the chunky melodic death metal riffing and occasional black metal flourishes of the previous, but also has much more detailed and structured songwriting, much tighter musicianship and higher-quality production values.

The anti-natalist single, “Go Forth and Multiply” is a short, sweet punch to the gut that came together in a fit of inspiration. It speaks of humanity’s relentless desire to multiply and overpopulate, creating a world full of defective minds that never wanted to be born, with nothing better to do than populate the earth further. The song shows up, hits hard, and leaves, and it’s the best sneak preview for some of the musical and lyrical themes that are explored in greater depth on the album.

Dark, focused, and tense, Skyless Aeons is recommended for fans of Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Death, and Swallow the Sun.

Listen to “Go Forth and Multiply” via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.

About:

Around 2014, guitarist Nicholas Luck and drummer Martin Burchill met as a result of an errant bus ride in London, Canada. At this time, Burchill was looking for a stable project after drumming in various rock/punk/metal bands over the last decade or so, and Luck, only 18 at the time, was looking to start a death metal band.

Vocalist Nathan Ferreira and bassist Steve Oliva followed shortly after and with a scathing collective disdain for the larger structures of society and a commitment to constant evolution in sound and ethos the band recorded and released the “Era of Famine” EP in 2016.

The band has already gained a reputation through local shows as one of the more unique and energetic death metal bands in the scene, opening up for artists such as Ashbringer, The Convalescence, Nesseria, and Killitorous – a wide variety of styles, yet somehow, Skyless Aeons shares musical similarities with all of them.

At a live show, one can expect certain synchronicity and chemistry that can only come from years of experience and practice feeding off of each other’s ideas. Couple that with vocalist Ferreira’s on-stage recklessness mixed with unusually sardonic and self-deprecating stage banter, and it’s no surprise that Skyless Aeons are gaining notoriety and drawing more and more people to their local performances as of late.

2020 brings a new album “Drain the Sun”; it takes a different approach, using much heavier and expansive riffing textures and shows refining and maturation of the band’s identity. It can best be described as “; progressive death metal” with some dissonant, doom-influenced leanings.

– 30 –

“This debut EP by Skyless Aeons is monstrous. 35-minutes and four sweeping songs worth of intense songs blackened-death: riffs aplenty, interesting transitions, and solos smothered by a lead-heavy old-school sounding production. The vocals are inhuman and loud in the mix fluctuating from mid-to-high range shrieks similar to Anaal Nathrakh to mid-range growls. There are moments of real technical efficiency – think Gorguts and Mithras – along with an atmospheric undertone akin to Ulcerate and Flourishing. I highly recommend.” – Akerblogger

“There’s a rich diversity to Skyless Aeons’ music, even though their material is cohesive and doesn’t feel the need to go into extra clean, girlfriend metal territories to get the point across. The four tracks (all between seven to eleven minutes) are progressive affairs without too much fluff. The guitars of Nicholas Luck alternate between early 90s tremolos, a modern dissonant approach to black metal and a healthy dose of melancholic Nordic melodic death metal and he plays everything well.”  – Metantoine’s Magickal Realm

Ottawa Blackened Death Serene Dark Streaming New Album“Enantiodromia” Before Officially Out July 17th

Canada’s Serene Dark will be unleashing their new album “Enantiodromia” this coming Friday, July 17th. “Enantiodromia” (pronounced en-an-ti-o-dromia) is dark, entrancing, and orchestral while maintaining the key elements of death and black metal. Overall, the album explores the confrontation between the shadow aspect of the personality and the integration of it into the self to create wholeness.  Influenced by philosophy, stoicism, hermeticism, and the occult. The album, lyrically, is a journey towards individuation by the exploration of human darkness and transforming that pain into something tangible and meaningful. In essence- to lose one’s self entirely to reach perfection.

Before the full length’s official release, the band is streaming the album in full via BeheadingTheTraitor’s YouTube channel HERE.

The band adds:

“This album will be received as a new but familiar sound for any previous fans of our last band (Endemise)… We want our fans to get lost in the music. We want to pique some interest in fans of this style of music… We have written a lot of songs and chosen our top ten favourites.”

Under the name Endemise, the band released Far From The Light (2013) and Anathema (2016), but now with the new name, Serene Dark has made a refreshing start with elements of the previous band still lingering, but taking the songs and style to a new level on this record and experimented with various instruments and vocal styles. This album sets a new caliber and standard for Serene Dark.

“Enantiodromia” is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Rotting Christ.

The album will be available on Bandcamp (CD), Spotify, Apple Music.

“‘Enantiodromia’ is a ten track, fifty-five-minute offering with which the band “plans to unleash a blistering force of evil” and does so, I think, in the finest Metal tradition… This should be of interest to fans of Dimmu Borgir, Insomnium, Abigail Williams, Fleshgod Apocalypse Septicflesh, and Rotting Christ. For me, it had definitely been worth the wait.” – Metal Talk

“Epic, blackened death metal…if those words excite you then you’re in for a real treat. Serene Dark are at the top of their game with a new album that is the pinnacle of imagination when it comes to this style of metal. As classy as it is heavy, as brutal as it is attractive and as impactful as it is numbing.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“I really like what Serene Dark have done here. I’m a sucker for creatively mixed genres, and the lyrical journey from repression to acceptance to healing was just what the doctor ordered for me right now. The first album under their new name, I see Enantiodromia as a transition step towards bigger and better things for the band, and I can’t wait to see where their path leads.” – Angry Metal Guy

“All in all, whether you know the band as Serene Dark or Endemise, this latest album is a stirring reflection of inner darkness and turmoil set to a delicate, almost fragile in its complexity, arrangement of traditional and orchestral instruments. Expect great things to come.” – Antichrist Metal Mag

“The adopted musical style reflects Serene Dark’s genesis: melodic, soothing, somber and heavy.” – Metal Hammer Portugal

“SERENE DARK’s “Enantiodromia” represents a significant advance from the band’s previous manifestation and gives listeners a seamless, varied, and epic articulation of black metal, melodic death metal, old school death metal, and deathcore whilst focusing on a fascinating and poignant psychological exploration.” – Mosh Pit Nation

“Altogether, SERENE DARK represents a significant advance from the band’s previous manifestation and gives listeners a seamless, varied and epic articulation of black metal, melodic death metal, old school death metal and deathcore whilst focusing on a fascinating and poignant psychological exploration.” – Black Metal Daily

Canada’s Serene Dark has a new album “Enantiodromia” coming out for Summer 2020, originally slated for a June 5th street date, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the band has slated a new release date for July 17th.

“Enantiodromia” (pronounced en-an-ti-o-dromia) is dark, entrancing, and orchestral while maintaining the key elements of death and black metal. Canadian Blackened Doom Metal PLAGUE WEAVER Spreads Darkness With Music Video ‘The Traveller’

New EP “Through The Sulphur Eyes”  Out Now!

Toronto’s Plague Weaver released a new EP “Through The Sulphur Eyes” in January 2020 and now has a music video out for the track ‘The Traveller’.

Watch the video HERE.

Aiming to create black metal with a sickening atmosphere, the solo project of RM offers up the bleak video, which compliments the black metal it is set to, characterized by pounding, slow, dissonant riffs. Creator RM explains the EP as a whole:

“The new EP is a continuation of work that began on our self-titled debut. It’s still black metal with elements of doom metal, but with a little bit of a different approach – more spoken words, more atmosphere and a guest solo in ‘Unchained, recorded by Derryl Vi.”

Follow up on the debut, self-titled release from last year, “Through The Sulphur Eyes” is blackened doom mixed with faster, melodic parts and fans will appreciate the consistency.

There is more in the works from Plague Weaver, a full-length release has been hinted at, and the establishment of a live lineup for performances.

For fans of Rotting Christ, Varathron, old Samael, Triptykon, and Dissection, the album is available now on Plagueweaver.bandcamp.com, Spotify and iTunes.

Track Listing:
1. Through The Sulphur Eyes (4:38)

About:

Plague Weaver is Black/Doom metal from Canada; created in December 2018 by RM. The original idea was to create music in the vein of old school Black metal mixed with other musical influences coming from Death/Doom metal.

Black metal mixed with a sickening atmosphere is what’s in store for listeners as the solo project of RM; it is the musical interpretation of RM’s vision of the world, philosophy, the occult, and general experiences. It is the culmination of over 25 years of travel through metal /dark ambient/ experimental music RM has created.

A debut self-titled EP was released in 2019 and is followed up in 2020 with the EP “Through The Sulphur Eyes”.

Plague Weaver is a solo project, but there are plans to create a live lineup for performances.

– 30 –

““Through The Sulfur Eyes” is a solid EP… the overall sound that is achieved is impressive… PLAGUE WEAVER has an interesting doom-like black metal sound that works well with layered deep and high-pitched vocals. I think fans of doom metal and black metal aficionados will appreciate this one.” 8/ 10 – Metal Temple

“From the moaning leads to the slow lurching cadence and the deep monstrous roars, the opening of the title song sounds like the beginning of a death/doom track, but although that oppressive feeling of plague and decay persists, the band also pitch into fits of percussive mayhem, fevered riffing, and vocal madness, and they stitch flickering bits of guitar lunacy into the song as well.” – No Clean Singing

“breaking through to listeners in 2020 is a seriously steep hill to climb and bands have to either push the envelope, do something that can’t be found elsewhere, or just amaze and electrify with each release to grab attention and stay relevant. Plague Weaver do all that on Through the Sulphur Eyes and it’s up to you to show them how good a job they’ve done. What I’m saying is, go buy it. Now.” – Nine Circles

“Through crawling malignancy is how Plague Weaver approach their art, and these songs are filled with grim mood and malevolent auras” Indy Metal Vault

“There’s a darkness running throughout Through the Sulphur Eyes that is quite powerful… The riffs are weighty, drenched in a toxic malaise, yet also possessing the razor-sharp cutting edge of underground black metal. It’s a captivating combination, that moves forward at a steady, relentless pace. What really lingers though is a feeling of uncleanliness; this music is corrosive, carrying with it a taint of infection and, well, plague.” – The Sound Not The Word

“”Plague Weaver” are a collection of melancholic and sorrowful tunes that drag you deep into hell.” – Absit Omen (self-titled EP review)

After a long wait, Montreal blackened thrash band DIZASTRA offers up their first full-length album “Elder Sun”, now available to massacre fans as of November 22, 2019.

Following their 2015 EP ‘Hell’s Gate’, their new album “Elder Sun” summons unholy ferocity by merging the sounds of black, thrash and melodic heavy metal to coagulate a distinct aural assault.

Featuring their lead single ‘Vae Victus’, an anthem to riding a dragon through Hades, this track combines all the elements of what makes heavy metal what it is. Bringing together shrieking vocals, pummeling drums, cosmic-threatening bass, and electrifying (literally) solos. Other tracks such as ‘The Second Coming’ and ‘Dead ov Night’, steer the listener through sonic waters vicious and dark, assaulting you with wicked verses and melodious choruses. ‘Gnosis’ and ‘Piercing The Veil’ inject the album with a dose of mayhem and speed while ‘Astaroth’ closes the full-length by bringing listeners from the most profound depths to the highest peaks of heaven.

Altogether, the alchemy crafted in “Elder Sun” brings a sound both new and familiar to the votaries of thrash and black metal. There is an undeniable shrill-heaviness to this album that gets paired with a thrilling melody to create a thing as awe-inspiring and terrifying as the flames of our solar star. And much like the forbidding beauty of a westering sky, DIZASTRA’s “Elder Sun” is not to be missed.

Album order and full stream on Bandcamp.

From the bowels of Satan’s lair, DIZASTRA has come. After a long wait, their first full-length album “Elder Sun” is ready to massacre fans on November 22, 2019.

Following their 2015 EP ‘Hell’s Gate’, Montreal based DIZASTRA summons unholy ferocity in their music merging the sounds of black, thrash and melodic heavy metal to coagulate a distinct sound.

During this past summer, these evildoers unleashed the music video for the first single off the album ‘Vae Victus’. An anthem to riding a dragon through Hades, this track combines all the elements of what makes heavy metal what it is. Bringing together shrieking vocals, pummeling drums, cosmic-threatening bass, and electrifying (literally) solos.

The video for ‘Vae Victus’ demonstrates their meager budget and Tolkien level storytelling in a compelling tale of time travel and high adventure. Wizards, warriors, battle, and friendship all come together to dazzle viewers across the globe.

DIZASTRA’s Music Video ‘Vae Victus’ Will Make You Saddle Up Your Dragon & Ride Through Hell

From the bowels of Satan’s lair, DIZASTRA has come. After a long wait for their first full-length album, fans can expect to be massacred with “Elder Sun” coming later in 2019.

Following up the 2015 EP ‘Hell’ s Gate’, Montreal based DIZASTRA summons unholy ferocity in their music merging the sounds of black, thrash and melodic heavy metal to coagulate is a distinct sound.

‘Vae Victus’ is the first single from the upcoming album “Elder Sun”. The anthem to riding a dragon through Hades, this track combines all the elements of what makes heavy metal what it is. Bringing together shrieking vocals, pummeling drums, cosmic-threatening bass, and electrifying (literally) solos, ‘Vae Victus’ rides triumph through listeners ears.

The video for ‘Vae Victus’ demonstrates their meager budget and Tolkien level storytelling in a compelling tale of time travel and high adventure. Wizards, warriors, battle, and friendship all come together to dazzle viewers across the globe.

Your steed awaits for a blasphemous sojourn into the abyss.

Watch ‘Vae Victus’ here.

The single is available for stream and download on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other major online retailers.

Bio:

From the bowels of Satan’s lair, Dizastra has come. Their story begins with veteran performer of Quebec’s Heavy Montreal music festival and Wacken Metal Battle Canada finalist Matt Conti. He joined forces with Denis Stoisin. Together they mixed melody with ferocity, merging the sounds of Black, Thrash, and Melodic Heavy Metal. Within a year of forming, Dizastra released their first EP titled “Hell’s Gate” in 2015. The release brought them recognition as a rising force within the Quebec Heavy Metal scene and national acclaim.

Dizastra’s line-up was solidified in the summer of 2017 with the addition of Nathan Afilalo of Dissension on bass and Petey Giampa of Venomenon on drums. The contributions of these new members summoned new speed and malice to the group’s sound. With the band firmly established, they dug their heels in the trenches and began writing material for their first full-length album.

At long last, the wait is finally over. “Elder Sun” is the next chapter in Dizastra’s legacy that will guarantee them a place amongst Heavy Metal’s elite. Set for release in the fall of 2019, the “Elder Sun” rises.

Like a blackened metallic phoenix rising from the ashes of their previous band Endemise; Ottawa’s SERENE DARK intends to take their extreme metal to new heights. Morphing from Endemise to SERENE DARK, these demons have joined forces with YouTube channel Black Metal Promotion for the premiere of their first single ‘Where Time Drowns Still’ off their forthcoming yet to be titled debut album, which was recorded at Wolf Lake Studios deep in the woods of Quebec. The upcoming album ushers a new era for SERENE DARK as the band worked with longtime producer Mike Bond (Loviatar) and session drummer Eric Morotti (Suffocation) to create a 10 song full length that plans to unleash a blistering force of evil. ‘Where Time Drowns Still’ lyrics deals with pain and loss, a theme that will be seen throughout the record.

Guitarist Dale Sauve adds:

“‘Where Time Drowns Still’ is one of our darkest songs to date and is a perfect representation of Serene Dark and the album we have nearly finished.”
