Canada’s Iron Kingdom Now Streaming “The Blood Of Creation”

New Album “The Blood Of Creation” Out November 4th

The electrifying quartet of Canada’s Iron Kingdom have a hot new album “The Blood Of Creation” ready for release and can be heard in full at https://youtu.be/4pk7QzM4gBo

“The Blood Of Creation”, the band’s fifth, is not a concept album, but it does have a trilogy about the creation myth from the ancient Mesopotamians. It tells the tale of Tiamat and Marduk and the creation of the heavens, the earth, and mankind. This story is known as being one of the oldest, if not the oldest known story from mankind. The band comments on the album:

“Our music is best described as if Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had a child and raised it on Hammerfall, Helloween, Rush, and, Blind Guardian. With this album, we feel like we’ve merged the more straightforward approach of our last record ‘On the Hunt’ with the storytelling and epic quality of our earlier releases. We took advantage of the forced hiatus from shows and spent the longest on writing that we have for any of our previous efforts and feel like it’s really paid off. The pandemic also brought us a new drummer to solidify what we feel is our strongest lineup yet and his influence is felt on this record. This album shows the level of maturity we have reached as songwriters as well as musicians while maintaining what makes an Iron Kingdom release.”

According to the band, they expect that this new offering will be very exciting for fans old and new. They have caught the essence of all the previous albums into one killer new package, there are fast songs, mid-tempo bangers, and even an epic. They’ve put the time into getting this album just right and it shows.

“The Blood Of Creation” was completely self-produced, written, and recorded. The album was sent out for mixing (Andy Boldt) and mastering (Greg Reely), but they handled everything else. vocalist/guitarist Chris Osterman engineered the record with some help from the band and some friends (Dan Yakimow, Jeff Black).

With “The Blood Of Creation” listeners can expect the usual mix of fantasy and history-inspired songs that aim to entertain and at least lightly educate about past events and beliefs. They are recommended for fans of Queensrÿche, Riot, and Iron Maiden.

The band will also be hosting a now sold-out release party for their release day on Nov 4th at Wise Hall in Vancouver. For more info, please visit the following link here.

“Loads of riffs and melodies some excellent lead breaks and pounding rhythms. This is bonafide, foot on the monitor, fist pumping, horn throwing real metal. I have never heard Iron Kingdom before but on the strength of this I will be obtaining the back catalogue very soon.” – My Global Mind (The Blood of Creation)

“Iron Kingdom brings another solid heavy metal album with the fifth album ‘The Blood of Creation’. Slightly progressive, but especially heavy… Give the band a listen, you will be surprised!” – Metal Experience

“the hype is real: “The Blood of Creation” is an overdose of classic power metal, a homage to the late 80’s – 90’s power metal heroes: HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY, HEAVEN’S GATE, SCANNER, early CHINCHILA (remember those guys?), EDGUY with a touch of American stuff like RΙΟΤ.” – Forgotten Scroll

“They are aiming at the classic sound from the 70s and 80s, so if you want something modern then you have nothing to pick up here. The lyrics speak of war, fear, sacrifice and pain. Luckily the music is not that dark though, but rather very uplifting and pleasant, as it’s a more melodic kind of heavy metal that we get from this band, even though there’s some more powerful tracks too…. I like what I hear.” – Hard Rock Info

Exitus Stratagem Records – AITTALA Is Now Streaming Genre Defying, Eclectic Doom Album “Live to Regret”

“Live to Regret” Out November 7th

Aittala has been around since 1991 and in that time has developed a sound that is unique, progressive, and memorable. With a solid core of doom metal, they add hints of power metal, sludge, and traditional metal, a feast of variety that is on full display in their upcoming seventh album “Live to Regret”. Lyrically, the album chronicles a chaotic period of time for members of the band personally as well as the global events happening in parallel. The band comments on the album:

“Aittala is extremely excited for the fans to hear the new album “Live to Regret”. The pandemic was a stressful time for everyone, but it’s even much more stressful when you’re dealing with an unhealthy relationship that’s full of tension and animosity on a daily basis. A lot of toxic energy fueled the writing of the album and became something of a way to cleanse the spirit of the toxicity. We hope the fans hear the pain, pleasure, and passion that went into the writing of these songs. I think they’ll connect with these songs more than prior albums because they are more personal. Overall, we’re very pleased with how the album turned out. It’s definitely the best Aittala album yet and we look forward to building on it in the future!”

The album has eleven tracks, each defying the limits of genre rules. There is the thrash-inspired track “Cannibals” that confronts the tightening grip of governmental monitoring and control. The sludgy “Big Brother” – is about the devolution/zombification of the human race due to technology. The smoky stoner infused “Never Forget” talks about dealing with a toxic person along with many more.

For Aittala, only enough songs are written for an album, so they don’t have the problem of having to select certain songs over others. During the songwriting process, only the best songs get past the idea stage, then they are developed and refined until the song is complete. As far as how much more music fans can expect, there are no plans to stop writing and releasing new material.

An eclectic mix of metal, “Live to Regret” is recommended for fans of Baroness, Crowbar, and Katatonia.

Listen to the album in full via its premiere on Doom And Stoned HERE.

“Live to Regret” will be available on November 7, 2022, via Exitus Stratagem Records and was produced by Eric Aittala and John E. Wooten IV, who also mixed the record along with mastering by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering. Album artwork by Mariano Pugliese.

About: The music of AITTALA (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre.

The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric Aittala was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene.

With the release of the 3-song EP ‘Selling Heaven’ in summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST. Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA.

Over the next decade or so, Eric played in numerous bands (TRIBE, MAGNETHEAD, DWELL) and lost focus on AITTALA.

Near the end of the 00’s, Eric decided it was time to refocus his efforts on the AITTALA brand. From 2009 to 2016, AITTALA released 4 full-length albums: ‘Bed of Thorns’ (2009), ‘Haunt Your Flesh’ (2011), ‘Effigy’ (2014) and ‘American Nightmare’ (2016). Each album showcasing a natural progression of song writing and lyrical content but retaining the core AITTALA sound and evolving it.

In 2019, AITTALA signed with Curtain Call Records and released the band’s fifth full-length album ‘False Pretenses’. It was ten brand new songs that not only continued the song writing evolution of heavier but catchy songs, but also sonically. AITTALA used an entirely different approach for the recording, mixing and mastering to create the best AITTALA album to date.

The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass.

They continue to write, record and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses with plans in 2022 to unleash their sixth studio album entitled “Live To Regret” to be released by label Exitus Stratagem Records.

“This platter is heavy melodic ear candy that drips with deep and mesmeric face-melting tones and grinding rhythms.” (Live to Regret) – The Metal Gods Meltdown

“The band’s sound is difficult to pigeonhole because they incorporate a variety of styles. The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“I would describe them as an eclectic Doom Metal band, although their sound is a bit tough to define. That’s ultimately a good thing though, and I enjoy the refreshment of something different. My only major complaint is that on some songs, the vocals and lyrics are so drawn out that they become a little boring and you end up waiting a bit for something cool to happen. The good news is something cool usually does end up happening” – Metal-Temple

“In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – The Metal Channel

Montreal, QC – August 25, 2022

Streaming Now! Calgary’s SYRYN’s New Album “Heads or Tails” Tells Epic Tales of Mermaids, Sailors, and Pirates!

New Album “Heads or Tails” Out Aug 26th

Ft. Album Guests Amanda Kiernan (ex-The Order of Chaos, ex-Into Eternity),
Craig Carswell (Producer, Singer /Songwriter, Dorians Mirror, Court of Cardinals)

It’s story time with Calgary, Canada’s Syryn, and their new album “Heads or Tails”, an epic record to take you on the high seas with mermaids, sailors, and pirates. The album officially releases on August 26th and before it does, the band is streaming it in full via MetalInsider HERE.

The band adds:

“This album was a blast to write! We’ve been holding on to these riffs for a long while, and hopefully, the anticipation is exactly what our fans were waiting for. We’ve got a mix of thrash, rock, metal, and ballads on this one. We are extremely proud of this album from all angles. The songwriting, lyrics, art, and production quality show the effort we put in. It’s something we know we’ll be proud of in the years to come.”

Syryn‘s sophomore album “Heads or Tails”, is a record full of growth, diversity, and a much more collaborative effort as a whole compared to the band’s debut full-length “Beyond the Depths” along with co-writing with guest vocalists Amanda Kiernan (ex-The Order of Chaos, ex-Into Eternity) and Craig Carswell (Producer, Singer /Songwriter, Dorians Mirror, Court of Cardinals). “Head or Tails” is more a themed album branching out into the Pirate/Sailor’s perspective and beyond. The band wanted to continue on the storytelling of a Siren’s journey, touching on as many aspects of it as they could fit onto the record (including the many emotions we go through in everyday life: Love, fear, anger, happiness, sadness, regret, etc.). Syryn also wanted to shake things up and create something a bit out of their regular musical realm, no two songs are alike and that makes the band more difficult to categorize. They try to incorporate all their influences into their own sound with a wide array of styles to adhere to many people’s tastes.

0 Decibel Mag Now Streaming Deformatory’s “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 9, 2021

Decibel Mag Now Streaming Deformatory’s “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon”

Ottawa’s Deformatory has a new album and it is now streaming in full over on Decibel Magazine HERE.

“Inversion of the Unseen Horizon” is the fifth release from Deformatory, adding to previous works, ”A Prelude Of…” (2011); “In The Wake of Pestilence” (2013); “Malediction” (2016); and “Bilateral Carnage” (Split with Blood of Christ, 2018).

The concept album follows the story of a malevolent interdimensional entities that seek to enslave and consume all light from the universe. Lyrically and musically, Deformatory has gone to great lengths to ensure a brutal, captivating and cohesive work of art. The band shares their take on the overall experience they are trying to convey:

“For us, the artwork and concept of the album were just as important as the music and songwriting. Our hope is that every audio and visual release that is connected to this album helps the listener dive deeper into the totality of our creation.”

Deformatory shares their hopes for the album’s reception:

“We hope it gets received the way we receive it when playing it. We have tons of fun jamming the songs and it automatically causes our heads to bang. It’s a heavy and jam-packed album that has a little bit of everything wrapped in brutal death metal packaging. Our hope is that fans of all extreme metal spectrums will find at least one thing in it to enjoy.”

Deformatory has a high level of chemistry when it comes to writing, on this album, there are some songs that were written in just an hour or two because we were in the pocket and everything flowed the way it should. According to the band, they don’t put a lot of thought into the writing, nor do they concern themselves with the theory behind it. If it sounds good to them and makes them want to demolish the room, then it’s a keeper.

Recommended for fans of Hate Eternal, Cryptopsy, and Morbid Angel, “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon” can be enjoyed on

About:
Deformatory is a death metal band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Forming in 2010, they set out to create an extreme sound, fusing together classic influences (Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, etc.) and their love for modern tech death. The result is a uniquely relentless blend of death metal that can only hail from the Northern hemisphere.

Deformatory independently released their full-length debut, “In The Wake of Pestilence”, in December of 2013. This pummeling 9-track debut has been exceptionally well-received by fans worldwide, and has been cited as being an “outstanding and monstrous debut album. Essential.” (Frank Rini – AllAboutTheRock, ex: Internal Bleeding), and “flawless in every way” (TheBloodShed).

Having shared the stage with bands like Cryptopsy, Napalm Death, Obscura, Beyond Creation, Gorod, Archspire, and Fuck The Facts, Deformatory is more than comfortable delivering their crushing brand of extreme metal to live, screaming, and sweaty audiences.

The band’s sophomore release, “Malediction”, was released worldwide via CDN Records in 2016, with additional singles “Once Upon the Cross” (Deicide cover), and “Myiasis” both in 2018. Since then, DEFORMATORY has been developing their 3rd full-length album entitled “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon”, which they plan to unveil in the Fall of 2021 as an independent release.

“Heathenheart” is the second album from Canada’s Hexenklad (ft. members of SIG:AR:TYR, Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual), and it shows a notable evolution over 2017’s “Spirit of the Stone”. This is primarily due to an almost complete lineup change wherein all the members had an active part in composing the music. Vocalist Timothy Johnston explains further:

“This album was written very differently than the first album which was mostly written by Hexenklad’s founder Michael Grund. It was very organic and the songs just grew together. Guitar parts were written first by both Michael and John with a few ideas put in by myself. Then drums were added by Andrew. Once those were all down and arranged, and then rearranged until everything flowed and made sense, then I let the melodies tell me what the songs were about and wrote the lyrics. Once we had the guitars, drums and vocal parts recorded, then the keyboards and bass were added.”

Johnston continues to explain that it was not difficult to pick the tracks that would be used as they were the ones that spoke to them immediately. Often, they would go through many alterations before being used, but they never abandoned a song that spoke to us.

The 13 track album has something for everyone, from the chilling, black metal “Cold Beauty of Winter”, to the mid-tempo headbanger “Dark Moon in Capricorn”, to the instrumental ”A Forest of Dead Trees” to the acoustic “We Raise a Horn”. This variance makes Hexenklad shine, their versatility is a true display of their talent and passion.

Hexenklad has a very distinct chemistry which is only amplified by years of experience in music. Almost everyone in the band comes from another band in the Ontario metal scene including Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual, Battlesoul and Of Hatred Spawn. The album also features several local guests including Emmanuel “Audeath” Audet (Black Empire/Winterfog); Nick Sauter (Treats for Addicts) and Alex Chalmers.

Those who enjoy both folk and black metal, who are looking for something unique and have an open mind, will find much in this album, especially those interested in Insomnium, Windir and Moonsorrow.

“Heathenheart” will be released on July 23, 2021 via CDN Records, but can be heard in advance via its full stream premiere on Black Metal Promotion’s YouTube channel HERE.

Fell Harvest, from Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA is streaming their new album “Pale Light In A Dying World”, which is a new take on traditional doom as it incorporates modern, progressive elements. The band started as a pretty traditional 90s style death-doom band if there’s such a thing, but considering the influence that each of the members brings forward, their sound has been about stepping away from the formula and letting themselves explore those while also presenting a consistent aesthetic experience to fans.

It is hard to sum up the album in its entirety, due to it being so complex, both musically and mentally, as bassist and vocalist Joseph Fell quotes:

“If I had to call it anything though I would say “A snapshot of the plague year’. So much of this record was shaped by the pandemic, from deciding to record when and how we did, to tracking parts with a 103-degree fever and the discovery that I couldn’t sing the same way anymore because COVID damaged my lungs too badly. While it’s ultimately about more than just this one, unique moment in the modern zeitgeist, it’s also impossible to separate from the things happening around us when we created it.”

Initially, Fell Harvest was planning on spending 2020 touring to support their just released EP, but it obviously didn’t work out. Instead, Joseph Fell (bass/vocals) found himself sitting at home with nothing to do and began sifting through not only recent ideas, but some nearly forgotten bits and pieces that had never found a home before now. Eventually, he started working on some new arrangements to older songs and the band decided to try and record and release something in the summer. That didn’t work out either and it took almost a year to have the resulting record ready to release, but they think the results will prove worth it.

Recommended for fans of both doom metal and death metal, Fell Harvest is easily enjoyed by those with My Dying Bride, Agalloch, and Type O Negative in their rotation.

“Pale Light In A Dying World” can be heard via its full stream premiere on Doomed & Stoned HERE.

“Pale Light In A Dying World” is out on July 16, 2021.

About:
Fell Harvest, doom metal from Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA, strives to weave a tapestry of melody, despair, and longing to chronicle the last lights of a dying world.

Fell Harvest grew out of a former project of Joseph Fell (bass/vocals); which found its completed form as a trio with the additions of Angel Enkeli (drums) and Liam Duncan (guitars). The name Fell Harvest came from a dream Fell had where he was walking through a deserted vineyard with every vine bearing bleached bones and rotting flesh. He woke up and wrote a short poem called “The Fell Harvest” about the images and feelings.

Probably the most unique aspect of their live sound is rooted in the fact they are a trio. It’s somewhat rare these days to see a three-piece band in extreme metal, and even more rare to see one that is as melodically driven as Fell Harvest. Fans can hear parallels to bands like Paradise Lost and Rotting Christ, but more careful listeners can hear nods to Venom and King’s X as well.

The band debuted a self-titled EP in 2020 and is following it up with “Pale Light In A Dying World” out on July 16, 2021.

Ottawa’s As We Suffer will be releasing their debut album “The Fallen Pillars” on Friday, April 30th and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with New Noise Magazine for its full stream premiere HERE.

As We Suffer is an amalgamation of several heavy subgenres rolled into one. Hovering between metalcore, punk, hardcore, groove metal, and a tinge of melodic hard rock, the band takes listeners on a journey through each track. The track listing for the album was selected with diversity in mind, with each song standing out in contrast to the last.

The concept album’s theme revolves around the pillars of truth. Each song deals with destructive concepts and beliefs that we, as a society/people, should not prop up as truths. It is an experience of unhealthy and damaging thoughts/emotions that explore existentialism, politics, religious fanaticism, and truth through different styles of heavy music.

“This is our first full-length album and we’re excited to bring every single track on it to the masses. We are all influenced by various styles of metal and rock and we wanted to give an accurate portrayal of ourselves to fans. From the djent/metalcore feel of the album title track ‘The Fallen Pillars’ to the groove metal of ‘Concrete Fist’ to the hardcore catchy vibe of Shadows Caste in White to the absolute balls-to-the-wall brutality of Malicious Compliance. Overall, we hope enjoy it!”

As We Suffer‘s debut album “The Fallen Pillars” will be available as of April 30, 2021, and recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, Propagandhi, and Death by Stereo.

About:
Ottawa, Canada’s As We Suffer started out as a cover band, but quickly delved into writing original material. In the early days they focused on a more metal-infused skate punk vibe with major influence stemming from Pennywise, Strung Out, and NOFX but it very quickly took on a more metal feel. Since 2020, the sound has further morphed into a more metalcore vibe along the lines of early Killswitch Engage and Bullet for my Valentine, while still maintaining a distinct hardcore style.

Four of the original band members have known each other for a long time, with two of the members, vocalist Matt Caldwell and bassist Ryan Caldwell being cousins; together with their long-time friends drummer Chris Nunn and Jason Yocom. The band officially established in 2018 picking a name that represents unity in the existential suffering we all experience. Eventually, they were joined by guitarist Derik Roblin.

The long time comradery between the members enables them to write music organically, trading off who is the primary songwriter for each track. All lyrics are written by M. Caldwell, who aims to tell a story and deliver a message without being too literal or specific, allowing the audience to interpret on their own. Themes are largely infused with existentialism, civil and political unrest.

This organic flow continues to benefit the band when they play, the passionate stage presence is heightened by M. Caldwell’s intensity, R. Caldwell’s slick bass licks, Roblin’s powerful energy, and Nunn’s technical prowess. They bring a unique back-to-basics flavor to each performance, especially through the dynamic nature of each of the band members.

As We Suffer released a demo in 2018 and will follow it up with “The Fallen Pillars” on April 30, 2021.

“Ottawa’s As We Suffer are entering new territory with their new song, “The Fallen Pillars”. The title track off the band’s upcoming debut album (due out in April), it’s a blender of different metal and hardcore subgenres. Everything from groove metal to metalcore influences are prominent in the new track, with powerful vocals that help the band’s accessibility.” – New Fury Media

“AS WE SUFFER infuse anthemic heavy metal vibe into their metalcore / hardcore spine with new track “Invade The Host”” – IDIOTEQ

A little metalcore, a little bit hardcore, a little bit groove… but a hell of a head-banging heavy metal album, As We Suffer bring blistering intensity on the opening pairing of Caustic Paradigm and Malicious Compliance. Tracks that are perfect for opening up a big pit of sweating bodies and neck-breaking behaviour. The former has the speed while the latter has the kick-ass groove.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Their energetic brand of metal will interest fans of the mainstream metalcore/ hardcore of the 00’s such as Bullet for My Valentine, and early Killswitch Engage.. a fun and energetic debut, and I hope soon to be able to experience it live.” – The Independent Voice

“Today’s Song of The Day is The Fallen Pillars by As We Suffer. As We Suffer is a Hardcore/Punk/metal band from Ottawa and The Fallen Pillars is the title track off their upcoming debut album, set to release in April of 2021. It’s the most melodic song on the album, but doesn’t sacrifice heavy as it includes a djent vibe, along with aggressive riffs. As We Suffer play with pure passion, which echoes out clearly through their music.” – Dropout Entertainment

“The sound of the album is great throughout and perfectly adapted to the selected spectrum of effects of the music. Vocalist Matt Caldwell has the right style for every part and is really a great singer who can cover many areas, which is probably one of the biggest pluses.” – Schwermetallvergiftung

Canada’s WarCall will be dropping two EPs in 2021, their first, “Dead End Pt. 1” will be released on Friday, April 23rd and before it’s officially out, the band has teamed up with Decibel for its full stream premiere HERE.

Melodic and energetic, this four-track EP has a little something for everyone, with influences ranging from old school thrash and death to classic metal and more.

The creation of this EP was unusual for the band, the music was written collaboratively, but the drummer came up with most of the lyrics. He writes about struggle; “Dead End Pt. 1 and 2″ are not concept releases; they are a collection of 9 tales of struggle and how we can overcome them.

Recorded and mixed in a post-apocalyptic setting, the band has let the events of 2020 influence the process and the mood of both EPs, while still aiming for a timeless production that will age well. WarCall has decided to release the first EP, and the other half will be released later this year. They share their thoughts on the recordings:

“We are really proud to release the first EP. It is our best production yet. In terms of songwriting, musicianship, and recording, it represents a step forward in the evolution of the band. Back to being a 4 piece, we focused on writing and arranging songs that emphasize the possibilities they bring.”

The title and artwork represent the doom and gloom of life in the year 2020 and how the human race reacts in the face of death and uncertainty. With the impossibility to meet to even take a band picture, WarCall presents themselves as fictional post-apocalyptic warriors, a subtle comment and nod to the current events that marked the year 2020.

With the modern and crisp production, listeners will be able to enjoy the music of the band as a whole, while being able to focus on each musician’s performance. Whether it is the natural and powerful drums, tight bass, precisely recorded guitars, or the over-the-top vocal performance, each of WarCall’s musicians shine throughout the two EPs to let the music be the main focus.

Fast and dramatic, WarCall is recommended for fans of Dissection, Iron Maiden, and Slayer.

“Dead End Pt. 1” will only be released digitally as of April 23, 2021 via Plan B Music on the following platforms: Warcallmetal.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:
War has always been an intrinsic part of humanity. Whether it is huge wars involving entire countries or the small wars we all fight every day to survive, it is fair to say that war has defined humanity.

One of the definite treatises on war is Sun Tzu’s ‘The Art of War’; a book still in print to this very day. On the use of music in war, Sun Tzu writes: “Gongs and drums, banners and flags, are means whereby the ears and eyes of the host may be focussed on one particular point.”

Now, we have WarCall, who not only use drums, but also bass, guitars, and vocals to achieve the same end with their growing army of fans.

Inspired by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Dissection, and Slayer, guitarist Mathieu Simard describes WarCall’s music as “fast, aggressive, melodic, dramatic!”.

Now, with four well-received albums under their bullet-belt (Invaders (2017), III (2015), Blood, Guts, and Dirt (2013), Demonarchy (2008)), this power-quartet will unleash two new EPs in 2021, “Dead End Pt. 1” on April 23rd with “Dead End Pt. 2 expected to follow in the Fall via their own label Plan B Music.

As a whole, the two EPs are a collection of 9 songs, 9 stories about struggles during 2020 (“Dead End Pt. 1” being 4 tracks). The EPs were recorded and mixed in a post-apocalyptic setting. As with every album, “Dead End Pt. 1” and “Dead End Pt. 2” are technically more advanced in terms of songwriting and production. Of course, Warcall has evolved as musicians from each album, but they believe that their total is greater than the sum of its parts, so they play what feels right for the metal.

The band comments:

“We have let the events of 2020 influence the process and the mood of the two EPs, while still aiming for a timeless production that will age well in time. The title and artwork represent the doom and gloom of life in the year 2020 and how the human race reacts in the face of death and uncertainty. With the impossibility to meet to even take a band picture, WarCall presents themselves as fictional post-apocalyptic warriors, a subtle comment and nod to the current events that marked the year 2020.”

Live, post covid times, WarCall will truly give it their all with total authenticity. What you hear on their recordings is what you hear on stage. Energetic, powerful, focused, and proficient performances ready to encourage the circle pit.

WarCall has toured Europe (FR, DE, BE, CZE, SP) three times along with multiple tours across Eastern Canada. They have also been opening support for such bands as Destruction, Anvil, Paul Di’Anno, Kalmah, Catamenia, Impaled Nazarene, Arkona, Norther, Anonymus, Slaves on Dope, Martyr, Reanimator, Wolven Ancestry.

WarCall’s new EP “Dead End Pt. 1” is due out April 23rd, 2021 via Plan B Music.

“Big things are happening for Montreal’s WarCall…Motor-Maiden-‘tallica brand of street wise thrash…” – Decibel Mag

“The creativeness they’ve put into their debut far surpasses anything else I have heard from new Canadian bands this year…Inventive, fun, crisp and a great first offering”. – Exclaim!

“WARCALL’s delivery is fresh, powerful, with good drive and melodies and this tight-knit feeling that just gives you this sense of urgency.” – The Metal Observer

“Actually, “very very heavy” doesn’t go far enough. “Bully Bastard” slugs had enough to loosen teeth and leave bruises, and the grooves are damned compulsive, too, so loosen up your neck muscles before diving into this track. But while the song rocks hard enough to shake listeners like rag dolls, the music also channels rage and intensity through the raw grit of the vocals and the grim (but very catchy) vehemence of the riffs.” – No Clean Singing

“Fans of an old school thrash/speed sound will find plenty to enjoy throughout Invaders. 10 tracks of meaty metal that makes you want to dig out the old patch jacket & head-bang until your neck fuses.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“If you enjoy old school thrash, early speedy rock ‘n’ metal MOTÖRHEAD or DARKTHRONE in their thrashy black metal/crusty punk phase then WARCALL will wet your appetite and get you salivating! Dig out your battle vest, your whitewashed denim jeans, and white trainers and bang that head furiously!” – All About The Rock

“It’s fast, it’s heavy, it’s exciting, and it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not, while also knowing exactly what it is. That’s a rare trait to have in a band, and it shows their consistency and maturity as songwriters; you can really tell this is not their first album. The ultimate takeaway here is that WARCALL deserve a lot more attention than what they’re currently getting. I hope to see them take things to the next level on their next full-length.” – Metal Temple

About:

WoR is a groove metal quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina. Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.

WoR was founded in 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser who at the time was finishing up his college football career playing offensive line at NC State. The band was initially an escape from the rigors of the sport, and at the end of his career, he decided to give the band a legitimate go.

After cycling through a variety of members early on, WoR was joined by Bobby Demoss, the charismatic frontman who has the ability to draw in even the toughest crowd; his unique screaming style and passionate lyrics helped shape WoR’s groundbreaking identity from the get-go. In 2019, Phil Funderburk, the glue who keeps the band and the music together, joined on bass; David Nisoff, in charge of mind-blowing solos that capture everyone’s attention, joined as the second guitarist, and Hunter Crews, a consistent timekeeper and a seasoned veteran in the music business solidified the lineup as the bands’ drummer.

By the spring of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their music at live shows throughout the southeast region of the United States and played with the likes of Upon A Burning Body, Atilla, and Warbringer just to name a few.

Working collaboratively, WoR’s music focuses on various different current events using powerful lyrics to offer a unique insight into the things going on in our lives and in the world. After working closely with producer Joe Alonzo Potts and audio engineer Shaun Singerling, they plan to release their debut album “Prisoners” on August 7th, 2020, which features brutal tracks such as ‘Caged’ and ‘Predator’ in addition to melodic anthems such as ‘VI King’s.

In 2020 and 2021, WoR has extensive tours scheduled to support the release of their debut album “Prisoners”. WoR’s live shows are extremely energetic with fan involvement being a common theme. Demoss does a phenomenal job of breaking down the fourth wall and getting the crowd involved at their shows making way for insane mosh pits. It is the band’s credo that they give it their all for whatever time they are on stage whether they are playing to 2,000 people or 200 people.

Grunge Stoner Vibes BADGUYSWIN Premiere Full Stream of New Album “Cowards” via Bravewords

Debut Album Out April 10th

L-R – Alex Huber – Bass Guitar, Vocals, Shane Sherman – Vocals, Guitar, Zak Waterlow – Drums

BADGUYSWIN will be releasing their debut full length “Cowards” this Friday, April 10th and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with Bravewords for its exclusive stream HERE.

Nirvana and Soundgarden may be no more, but the members of Canada’s BADGUYSWIN are here to serve up your guilty pleasure for an era of rock n’ roll that’s knocking on doors and making its comeback. Heavy driven grunge-inspired loud amps, blended with clean vocals, plentiful harmonies, and driving rhythms are what fuels this Grand Forks, BC band to keep things stuck in your head for days to come!

Featuring 3 out of 4 members from technical metal band Slagduster, BADGUYSWIN shows off their original roots in music, the grunge era of the 90s where they would glue themselves to the stereo for hours. The members of BADGUYSWIN also all grew up together in the same small town and have been playing music together in various ways for 15 years.

The band’s debut full length “Cowards” was written to give the listener an experience that doesn’t repeat itself over 12 tracks. It’s an album that is a heavy and hooky modern take on a classic sound with influences that are everything 90’s in grunge, stoner, alternative, and punk. It was conceived organically, performed and recorded DIY style at the home studio of drummer Zak Waterlow with mastering by Brock McFarlane of CPS studios in Vancouver. The album has a crisp and larger than life sound. With plenty of easter eggs that’ll have you searching for more from each listen.

Vocalist/guitarist Shane Sherman adds:

“We have worked tirelessly over the last year writing, tweaking and recording our first release and we’re just quivering with anticipation to share with the world our modern take on grunge rock. If you’ve been pining for a record that gives you raw and heavy tunes with harmony and hooks we have got you covered.

After years of writing complex and intricate music, members of Slagduster embrace their musical roots and write a rock record that defies decades. Taking a more minimalistic approach, we’ve dropped the screaming and puzzling time signatures to create a sound that beckons back to a time when songwriting was key.

With influences ranging from Soundgarden to Queens Of The Stone Age and everything else in between, we are ready to deliver to this newborn puppy of hard rock that even the coldest of plaid wearing hipsters can enjoy.

We have crafted a record that we hope listeners will enjoy from start to finish. Each song placed in an order we feel will truly take the passenger on a sonic personal journey.”

“Cowards” set for release on April 10, 2020 will be available on all digital platforms for stream and download along with physical CDs having limited edition artwork painted by Shane Sherman. Each song’s lyrical content revolves around a story and a main character. A painting was depicted for each persona.

“Another grunge-inspired stoner rock ‘n’ roll track now with BADGUYSWIN and their debut ‘Needle Beach’, combining Ozzy-like vocals with the kind of riffs you’d see Orange Goblin churning out through their career… quite the way to introduce themselves!” – Uber Rock UK

“Due out on April 10th, the guys are ready to unleash their debut full-length, Cowards, tailor-made to give you a different listening experience with each of the record’s twelve tracks. Grunge rock may be a distant spec in the musical rearview mirror, but it’s comforting to know that bands such as BADGUYSWIN are carrying on the tradition of that legendary era.” – V13

“Cowards is chock full of sublime punked up riffs and harmonies such as “Fly On the Wall” as well as percussive masterpieces in “Lowlifer” and “Coal”. The lyrics speak out to the listener. For example, “Honey Bucket” is about alcoholism and addiction… Cowards provides a perfect feeling of leaves-you-wanting-more. Each song is constructed for maximum appeal with stunning fretwork, exemplary percussion and bass and vocals a bit on the higher range but certainly fitting. With Badguyswin, there is so much to rock out to here.” – Boston Rock Radio
