Out now as of Friday, May 14th, Calgary, Canada’s Osyron are ready to reintroduce the past to the present with the reissue of their 2017 album “Kingsbane” in a Deluxe Edition. The decision to re-release plus remix and remaster the record along with three rewritten and rearranged bonus tracks for Viper Queen, Griefmaker and Razor’s Wind (Acoustic) with current drummer Cody Antsey (original recordings were with former drummer Trevor Cobb) was an easy one after the great reception the band received from new fans for their 2020 album “Foundations”.
Osyron has always sensed the sound and production could be better for “Kingsbane”, and with time on their hands during the Covid pandemic along with writing new music, they felt it was an opportunity to share a fresh take of this epic record for new listeners plus those who have been following them for years.
Drummer Cody Antsey adds:
“The world groans under the heavy burden these days which, according to our nature, should bring us all closer together. But it is precisely this feeling that is too often missing. In these times when the bands can’t get together when the fans can only experience the sweat and sound-filled nights in crowded venues in their memories; other ways of forwarding momentum have to be found. For this reason, we hope that all our fans – both old and new – can enjoy our updated and revitalized Deluxe Edition re-release of Kingsbane. We have big plans for our next record, and we absolutely cannot wait to get back to playing shows and writing together in the studio… Until then, stay safe, stay metal, and we hope to see you on the road someday soon!”
The original recordings of the bonus tracks on “Kingsbane: Deluxe Edition” were written by guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, but for the reissue were collaborated by the whole band. The Deluxe Edition of “Kingsbane” was also entirely re-mixed by bassist Tyler Corbett and re-mastered by drummer Cody Anstey.
The music video for the bonus version of “Viper Queen”, a venomous power punch of melodic heavy metal can be watched via YouTube – https://youtu.be/S6aSsrCdfmU
The storyline for “Kingsbane” is about a hero who must reluctantly take up arms against a tyrant king in a neighbouring land. Along the way, he faces many inward, and outward challenges he must overcome to achieve his goal. Through it all, the hero learns a valuable lesson that even though they are duty-bound to stop this great evil, this great evil is also in the eye of the beholder. They discover that the weight of absolute power has the potential to corrupt absolutely – maybe not all villains are as one-dimensional as they seem from the outset.
With powerful songwriting and progressive symphonic melodies, fans of Nightwish, Dream Theater, and Wintersun can enjoy Osyron‘s “Kingsbane: Deluxe Edition” on the following platforms:

https://uber-rock.co.uk/osyron-kingsbane-deluxe-edition-self-released/
“I loved every second of this album. It is a fantastic experience. From the very first notes of the album to the last, your attention is completely captured. I even have had a hard time writing this review while listening to the album because I kept getting lost in the music. It just sucks you in. This is, without a doubt, a must-have album! You don’t want to miss out on this one. It is an experience that will become a staple of your collection. I know it will be a standout in mine. I loved every second and I know you will too.” – Uber Rock
“I absolutely love the vocal style! There is a wonderful blend of old-school power metal vocals and as well as a modern progressive tone. I definitely hear some similarities to Kamelot but with the darker edges shaved off. Honestly, I found the vocal style here more fun and that is saying a lot from me because I love Kamelot. There is just so much power to every note and they really know when to ratchet it up and when to dial it back giving a lot of evolution to the music. It never felt repetitive or lost my interest.” – Uber Rock

After great reception from new fans for their 2020 record “Foundations”, Calgary, Canada’s Osyron will be reintroducing the past to the present with the re-release of their 2017 album “Kingsbane” in a Deluxe Edition on May 14th.
The Deluxe Edition of “Kingsbane” will feature all original tracks from the 2017 full-length remixed and remastered (original recordings were with former drummer Trevor Cobb). There will also be three rewritten and rearranged bonus tracks for Viper Queen, Griefmaker, and Razor’s Wind (Acoustic) with current drummer Cody Anstey. The original recordings of the bonus tracks were written by guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, but for the Deluxe Edition were collaborated by the whole band. The Deluxe Edition of “Kingsbane” was also entirely re-mixed by bassist Tyler Corbett and re-mastered by drummer Cody Anstey.
In lead up to “Kingsbane: Deluxe Edition”, the band is sharing the music video for the remixed, remastered, and rewritten single “Viper Queen”. The video injects fans with venomous speed and a power punch of melodic heavy metal.
“Viper Queen” can be watched via YouTube – https://youtu.be/S6aSsrCdfmU
The band adds about the track:
“Viper Queen” had actually always felt like the “odd one” out on the album, especially stylistically. All of the other songs have sections that repeat from song to song, or motifs that reprise, and all the other songs have a section that acts as a part of the intro piece (From Ashes). Viper Queen never really fell into that same groove and was never considered as a single on the first release of Kingsbane. However, it immediately did well live. People absolutely loved the song, and even we felt that especially live it captured a certain energy that was maybe missed from the recorded performance. We’ve even received comments from people about how they didn’t really get Viper Queen until they came to a show and watched it happen live, so to that end we wanted to really nail it for the re-release. We re-arranged it to trim some of what we considered the fat, and we sped up the tempo to more accurately translate some of that “live” intensity we felt it was missing!”
For “Kingsbane”, Osyron dives into a story of a hero who must reluctantly take up arms against a tyrant king in a neighbouring land.
With powerful songwriting and progressive symphonic melodies, fans of Nightwish, Dream Theater, and Wintersun can enjoy Osyron‘s “Kingsbane: Deluxe Edition” when it’s released on May 14th, 2021.

Calgary, Canada’s Osyron unleashed their latest album “Foundations” in July 2020. The release was an immersive exploration of Canadian history and identity, speaking on topics of the country’s colonization to its mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginals to its participation in global warfare. Although it was not a conceptual release, it did bear a consistent theme across nearly the entirety of the record.
Now in 2021, with great reception from new fans for “Foundations”, Osyron has decided to re-introduce the past to the present with the re-release of their 2017 album “Kingsbane” in a Deluxe Edition on May 14th.
The Deluxe Edition of “Kingsbane” will feature all original tracks from the 2017 full-length re-mixed and re-mastered (original recordings were with former drummer Trevor Cobb). There will also be three re-written and re-arranged bonus tracks for Viper Queen, Griefmaker, and Razor’s Wind (Acoustic) with current drummer Cody Anstey.
The band adds:
“Doing a re-release was never on our radar before, and definitely not something we previously considered for such a long and fleshed out album. However, we felt that this album could do with a proper release in our target markets, and we had lots of time over the pandemic to try and breathe some new life into it. As such, we set out to remix and re-master the whole album, along with re-recording 3 songs in re-arranged states as singles. These three songs were picked based on their reception live, our personal connection to them, or the amount of potential we saw in re-arranging them. We’re super excited to get all these songs out for you in a higher quality mix, but we’re easily most excited to get you to hear these new takes on some of our “classics”.
For “Kingsbane”, Osyron dives into a story of a hero who must reluctantly take up arms against a tyrant king in a neighbouring land.
Leading up to the release of “Kingsbane” Deluxe Edition”, Osyron will also be releasing a music video on April 9th for the new version of their single “Viper Queen”.
A teaser for that video can be viewed via YouTube – https://youtu.be/CVK6tn011fE
The band comments on the single:
“Viper Queen” had actually always felt like the “odd one” out on the album, especially stylistically. All of the other songs have sections that repeat from song to song, or motifs that reprise, and all the other songs have a section that acts as a part of the intro piece (From Ashes). Viper Queen never really fell into that same groove and was never considered as a single on the first release of Kingsbane. However, it immediately did well live. Osyron is a symphonic metal band based in Calgary, Alberta. The group consists of vocalist Reed Alton, guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, bassist Tyler Corbett, and drummer Cody Anstey. Bridging the gap between traditional European metal and the music of their homegrown contemporaries, Osyron has a sound all their own.
The band’s origins can be traced back to Ontario, where they began under the name Morbid Theory. After releasing two demos (Chaos Breed in 2006 and Harbinger in 2010), the band underwent some changes in membership, scenery, and identity. Moving to Alberta in 2012, the group, now rechristened Osyron, re-recorded Harbinger in Calgary, and released the album in 2013.
After releasing their sophomore album, Kingsbane, in the fall of 2017, the momentum that followed was swift. Kingsbane caught the attention of the European metal community – proving a favourite of audiences, critics, and radio programmers.
In 2018, Osyron released a metal cover of the Canadian national anthem, which picked up speed across the country. This patriotic theme was continued into their third release, Foundations (2020). Stemming from a perspective of Canadian identity and culture, both past and present, Foundations challenged the global perspective of the great white north by retelling historical moments in an immersive and melodic manner. Speaking on topics of Canada’s colonization to the mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginal heroes to the country’s participation in global warfare.
Now in 2021, with great reception from new fans for “Foundations”, Osyron has decided to re-introduce the past to the present with the re-release of their 2017 album “Kingsbane” in a Deluxe Edition on May 14th.
The Deluxe Edition of “Kingsbane” will feature all original tracks from the 2017 record re-mixed and re-mastered (which featured former drummer Trevor Cobb). There will also be three re-written and re-arranged bonus tracks for Viper Queen, Griefmaker, and Razor’s Wind (Acoustic) with current drummer Cody Anstey.
Osyron has performed alongside numerous major acts such as Norther, Protest The Hero, Into Eternity, Threat Signal, and The Agonist. Their next goal is to take their sound across the Atlantic to put on a true Canadian spectacle across the European lands.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:
1. Out of the five members of Osyron, four of them have diverse backgrounds in the technical aspects of music production from record engineering, to production and mixing, to graphic design and website design. Much of our ‘behind the scenes’ activities are handled completely in-house. Almost all of our music is recorded by Tyler Corbett and Cody Anstey, who each have a foothold in the local audio engineering community. Krzyzstof Stalmach writes and composes symphonic music scores from his home studio, and handles all of our backing instrumentation on the records and at our live shows. Bobby Harley handles almost all of our web presence, building and maintaining the official website and social media.
2. Osyron had a great opportunity in 2017 to open up for Western Canadian heavy metal giants Into Eternity in Edmonton, AB. It was our first time performing outside of our home city with a completely new lineup. Not knowing what to expect, and with only a small draw of die-hard fans, friends and a few family members, we had no idea what was in store that night. There was a line up out the door, and the venue was over capacity so they had to turn away people at the door (including some friends and family of the band). With adrenaline coursing through our veins, and a full energized crowd, we played a quick 30-minute set to mosh pits, heavy headbangers and new fans. The experience was a foreshadow of what the new lineup was capable of with not only our new music, but the chemistry that was being forged on stage that night.
3. Guitarists Bobby and Krzysztof have played games like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft with members from In Flames. Because of this relationship, they’ve also been able to hang out with them backstage multiple times, as well as the opportunity to meet members from other bands such as Behemoth, Machine Head, As I Lay Dying, and Killswitch Engage.
4. We produced and uploaded our own metal version of O Canada on YouTube in 2018, and have received word that the song has been played in multiple schools throughout the country, been used on Canadian podcasts, etc.

Calgary’s Osyron released their new album “Foundations” during July 2020. The record is an immersive exploration of Canadian history and identity, speaking on topics on the country’s colonization to the mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginals to the country’s participation in global warfare. Although it is not a conceptual release, it does bear a consistent theme across nearly the entirety of the record. For fans of Nightwish, Dream Theater, and Wintersun; Osyron is progressive, powerful metal with a knack for engaging storytelling.
Today, the band presents their new music video for “The Cross”, it’s a track that reflects on Canada’s history of colonialism and extreme religious expansion in its early birth by the European superpowers of the 16th and 17th centuries. Large populations of both English and French settlers found themselves amongst a free run, “lawless society” of First Nation sub-groups, which gave way to a ruthless chess match of assimilation and warfare; while unfortunately bringing both together many times.
The band adds:
“This song looks back on how both religion and early extreme nationalism played a role in the branding of an ethnic group of people that were caught off guard by what was to come over the next four centuries.”
