0 FREYA And RIG TIME! Announce American Hardcore Tour Dates For January 2024

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 27, 2023

FREYA And RIG TIME! Announce American Hardcore Tour Dates For January 2024

This January, two American powerhouse acts will band together to play nine gigs around the east coast of the country. Freya hails from Syracuse, NY, and brings an explosive blast of New York hardcore to the forefront; their co-conspirators RIG TIME!, from La Crosse, WI are a deadly metal duo that easily bring the sound and madness of a larger group.

Freya was formed in 2001 by three members of Earth Crisis, bassist Ian Edwards, lead guitarist Eric Edwards, and vocalist Karl Buechner, and over the past 20 years, they have blazed a path through both the worldwide hardcore and metal scenes. Prominently featured on MTV’s Room Raiders, Road Rules, and the iconic Headbangers Ball as well as the Showtime series, Shameless, the Freya vault runs deep. Their latest album, the apocalyptic “Fight As One” was released earlier this year and they can’t wait to bring their blend of hardcore and thrash to fans in person.

Freya

To be “Undeniable” is the objective and axiom that RIG TIME! irrefutably has avowed since their inception. Formed in Wisconsin, they quickly began touring relentlessly, performing coast to coast in 45 states and counting, executing a fierce live performance with precise and fearless transitions, always at astonishingly vulgar decibels. These two performers exhibit the mass of a full band aura as they implement a complete performance without backing tracks, never suppressing their magnitude of raw energy and emotion through sincere lyrics and colossal stage presence.

RIG TIME! – L-R – Rebecca Fleming – Guitar, Bass, Bryan W. Fleming – Vocals, Drums, Synth

These two acts promise nothing less than a loud, impressive show. Freya delivers power, speed, and 110% expression. They may have a lot of miles on them but, the live show spins the odometer back! RIG TIME! Prides themselves on bringing clarity and tightness as tone and dynamic are very important to them. Start your year off right with a killer show! Freya and RIG TIME! are recommended for fans of The Acacia Strain, Twitching Tongues, Hatebreed, and Earth Crisis.

0 Kuwait’s SRAI Put A Metalcore Spin On Traditional Feelings In Latest Single “Faith”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 27, 2023

Kuwait’s SRAI Put A Metalcore Spin On Traditional Feelings In Latest Single “Faith”

Discover the boundless sounds of SRAI, a Kuwaiti heavy band that illuminates the way with their music. They are one of the few acts in the region playing rock n roll and they are proud to be trailblazers in that regard. They have released a handful of singles so far and are pleased to release “Faith”, which showcases their blend of metalcore, and modern metal. They comment on the song:

“The song Faith and the music video have a deep meaning, the song describes how hard life can be, and no matter how much life throws at you, you must fight back your demons and get back on your feet. Join us on this musical journey as we combine our passion for rock and storytelling, using our songs as beacons of light in a world that knows no bounds. Let SRAI’s music be your guiding light!”

Formed in January 2022, SRAI was born from the desire to share personal experiences of living in a closed-off society through the universal language of music. In the Kuwaiti dialect, “Srai” translates to “lantern” which held a significant role in the past, guiding people’s paths in houses, shops, and roads. The band, wishing to keep it traditional, embraced this meaningful symbol and incorporated it into the name as it resonated deeply with them.

SRAI cites that their music is very experimental and that they channel their feelings into each song. People who have heard them before might find that this new work is unexpected, they have very heavy tracks and they have some that are very melodic, and some that are just the right amount of both. They are recommended listening for fans of Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, and Architects.

UNSHINE To Unveil Highly Anticipated Fifth Album “Karn of Burnings” In March 2024

New Music Video “Hjul”

Rockshots Records is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of “Karn of Burnings,” the fifth studio album from the extraordinary druid metal band, UNSHINE.

Set to make its global debut in March 2024, UNSHINE‘s forthcoming album, “Karn of Burnings,” assures an enthralling voyage delving into the realms of pre-modern human existence and posthuman metaphors, characterized by their signature blend of melodic Nordic folk elements and the ethereal vocals of Susanna Vesilahti.

With eight tracks, each representing a living entity from different eras, the album spans 45 minutes of melodic storytelling. UNSHINE believes that fans will be pleasantly surprised by the album’s offerings, promising a unique and unpredictable listening experience.

Today marks the release of the first single, “Hjul,” and its accompanying video from “Karn of Burnings.”

“Hjul” is not just a song but an entire album in a metaphorical sense. A ritualistic composition in both its musical and lyrical tautology, “Hjul” mirrors the cyclical nature of seasons and mythical themes. Like the changing seasons in the cycle of the year, the musical and mythical themes and names recur again and again, creating a mesmerizing experience for the listener.” comments guitarist Harri Hautala.

0 ESHTADUR’s New Guitar Playthrough Unleashes The Wisdom of “Fire Above Mountain Below”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 22, 2023

ESHTADUR’s New Guitar Playthrough Unleashes The Wisdom of “Fire Above Mountain Below”

Guitarist Jorg August of Colombian melodic death metal quartet Eshtadur is unlocking the wisdom of his latest guitar playthrough for the band’s newest single “Fire Above Mountain Below”. Jorg comments:

“Fire Above Mountain Below” conjures the ancient wisdom of the pre-Colombian tribes, phrasing 6/8 as a bambuco (Colombian folk rhythm) counterparts both guitars as the mystical connection that the mountain and the fire emerge in powerful magical forces.”

“Fire Above Mountain Below,” also incorporates traditional Colombian folk instruments like the Tiple, adding a distinctive cultural layer to Eshtadur’s music. The song tells the tale of a time long past when ancient mountain tribes lived in harmony with nature until Christianized settlers brought forth a dark chapter, displacing and even annihilating these tribes in pursuit of wealth and power.

The playthrough can be viewed via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

And music video for the track can be viewed at https://youtu.be/Ft6AbiHlf_A

Along with it be available on digital platforms from Blood Blast Distribution at https://bfan.link/fire-above-mountain-below

Eshtadur’s previous single and music video “Umbra”, can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/9K60H6fn8vo.

At the core of Eshtadur‘s music lies a deep passion for poetry, mysticism, and the exploration of existence and cosmogony. Conceptually rooted in darkness, combining melodic and catchy elements that draw inspiration from a diverse range of musical genres, including Gothenburg death metal, black metal, and classical compositions They have had the honor of touring extensively in Europe and North America, playing alongside bands such as Cradle of Filth, Batushka, and Sepultura, and making an appearance at the revered 70000 tons of metal. They are recommended for fans of Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, and At The Gates.

More Info: Eshtadur.com | Facebook.com/EshtadurOfficial | Instagram.com/eshtadur

About: ESHTADUR was founded in the fall of 2005 by Jorg August releasing the ‘Timo Be Timo’ Demo with a sound in the vein of At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, and Septicflesh. Since then, they have released a pair of EP’s and a strong four albums. ESHTADUR, meaning the rebellion of angels, can be most closely likened to bands such as Septic Flesh, Behemoth, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carach Angren, and the like. Like their scene counterparts, the band embodies a deathly melodic atmosphere that reaches into realms of darkness and despair through the decay of humanity. It seeks to rebel, in its darkened way, embracing the abject reality.

Their rich touring history includes performances across Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. They have shared the stage and toured with Cradle of Filth, Vader, Graveworm, Sepultura, Aborted, and Decapitated in Rock Al Parque 2016.

Their 2017 release, via Bleeding Music Records, “Mother Gray” is an expression of planetary death and putrefaction. The scathing release saw the band touring 8 countries in Europe through 2018, and then visiting the United States for the first time for the “Gray America Tour” including Mexico. Now the band has signed the latest album “From The Abyss” with Blood Blast Distribution (by Nuclear Blast) and distributed physically by Hateworks (LA).

In 2022, the band toured supporting Batushka and Diabolical, this time visiting Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland.

In 2023, Eshtadur played at the 70000tons of Metal being the only band from Colombia. Eshtadur is gathering mist forces to fill your soul on their next visit with darkened despair as they set to release their new single “Umbra’ in September 2023 via Blood Blast Distribution.

0 PALOOKA Are Delivering Big Thick Rock With Latest Single “Save Yourself”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 21, 2023

Seattle’s PALOOKA Are Delivering Big Thick Rock With Latest Single “Save Yourself”

PALOOKA is big thick two-guitar rock the way God intended it. Hailing from Seattle, USA, singer Chuck Campbell belts out melody lines full of emotion and purpose with tenacity. Chris Quinn and Glen Logan trade flurries of devastating and searing guitar punches reminiscent of a barroom brawl. All of which sits on the rock-solid pounding foundation built on the talents of Howard Binner on bass and the percussive mauler Jason Reavis on drums. This powerhouse of rock has been making waves since their debut album “What’s Wrong With Wanting Everything” in 2011. They have come a long way since then and their forthcoming 2024 EP “Save Yourself” promises to deliver the heavy dose of rock that you need. The first look at this EP is with the title track, which the band comments on:

“Save Yourself speaks to those moments in life where one comes to the realization that the way through a particular event or situation is purely up to us as individuals. The metaphoric cavalry isn’t coming, we are on our own and the only way forward is through.”

PALOOKA goes on to explain that as fans of a wide assortment of genres, they channeled their influences into an energy and intensity that is all their own. They made a point to push their boundaries and across the EP listeners can expect to hear elements of metal, blues, 70’s rock, grunge, alternative, and more.

Mostly written throughout the pandemic, the songs on “Save Yourself” were born from the unique environment of physical isolation, which not only left its mark on the personal themes of the songs but also played a pivotal role in the collaborative process. Interestingly, PALOOKA didn’t consciously decide on the track lineup. Instead, the songs, along with the circumstances that led to their creation, organically determined which songs found their place on “Save Yourself”. Loud, classic, and accessible PALOOKA is recommended for fans of Cheap Trick, Alice in Chains, and AC/DC.

Watch the music video for “Save Yourself” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Palooka brought a fire to the stage…playing a no nonsense brand of in your face rock music.”- NW Music Scene (2012)

“Combining one part attitude with three parts rock, this band will cross the boundaries between screaming guitar licks and soft acoustic ballads. “If you’re not simultaneously leaping into the bed of a truck while it’s doing a burnout as you rip through a killer riff, are you even shredding?” adds guitarist John Simon Fallon.

“ULTRAPOWER” follows their Juno Award-winning self-released full-length “Play to Win” (2018) released on their label Record Breaking Records and features the band’s latest lineup addition of long-time friend and guitarist John Simon Fallon (The Order of Chaos). For the band’s seventh full-length, they teamed up with producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Tallah, King 810), entering the studio this past March. With the band writing material since 2018, “ULTRAPOWER” is a collection of Striker tinkering and exploring new avenues.

“ULTRAPOWER is the amalgamation of 5 years of writing and exploring music. With influences from AOR to Speed Metal, Hardcore to Hair Metal, Steely Dan to Deathcore, you name it, it made its way into the album. In the end with the help of Josh Schroeder’s guiding hand, we melted it all together to present something uniquely Striker. Lyrically we’ve stuck to the Striker tradition of writing montage songs for movies that don’t exist, songs about our spiraling serfdom, and lyrics about the evils that lurk in the shadows.” adds the band.

About: Blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Striker has been making shredtacular anthems since 2007. The band has toured multiple times across Europe and North America along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany), and more to add to the almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. The band has been honoured with multiple Best Album awards in their home country of Canada from the JUNO Awards, Western Canadian Music Awards, and the Edmonton Music Awards. Since their inception, Striker has released six studio albums Eyes in the Night (2010, Iron Kodex), Armed to The Teeth (2012, Napalm), City of Gold (2014, Napalm), Stand in the Fire (2016, Record Breaking), Striker (2017, Record Breaking), and Play to Win (2018, Record Breaking).

– 30 –

“Play to Win, which might be their most balanced effort yet. It’s their most catchy, too: the likelihood you’ll be singing along with every song before they finish is very, very high.” – Metal Sucks

“expertly combined killer arena rock choruses with well-done, cleaner verses.” – Metal Injection

“Six albums in six years. That is something almost unheard of, even in the modern era of production that considerably lessens the time needed to record and mix albums. Striker always seems to provide a new album right around when I start to wonder, “Hey, I wonder what Striker is up to?”. PLAY TO WIN is the band’s 6th LP and to my ears, one of their best. Rest assured, the band has not altered their sound. This is still classic metal, mixed with modern elements that continues to leave all pretenders in a cloud of choking dust.” – Metal Rules

“You can hear influences ranging from Dokken to Metallica on Play to Win, and it’s all done with masterful songwriting, performances and production. This is a slick, aggressively-mixed record that drips with excitement and replayability… Striker have produced their best record since City of Gold, and all fans of straight-up hard rock and metal need to own this album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Striker have knocked this one out of the park and into the stratosphere. You’d be hard-pressed to find a catchier slice of fine cheddar this year, and I’d highly recommend it.” – New Noise Mag

“STRIKER have done it again. They hath given unto thee one monster of a metal album that simply begs to be put on REPEAT.” – Amps And Green Screens

““Catchy choruses, well-crafted riffs and squealing solos are woven throughout… Play to Win is another solid effort from Striker.” – The Metal Crypt

“Striker gush with so much enthusiasm here, with explosive riffs swirling between the vibrant harmonies and choruses, that it’s hard not to notice…Tracks like “Former Glory” and “Born to Lose” are anthemic, catchy as hell and feature soaring vocals from Dan Cleary and terrific guitar work by Tim Brown…On Striker, the band take a host of influences and hone them into a sound they can call their own.” – Exclaim!

“From the first storm-summoning power chord on the opener Former Glory, Striker (CAN) proves their new album’s initial claim of not dwelling on the past, a high and appropriate cry of “Yeah, I’m back again!”… If you haven’t witnessed this inspiring resurrection of classic metal, the band plays Friday, April 14 at Starlite with Ravenous and Tylor Dory Trio, no doubt sharpened from the faithful overseas audiences.” – Edmonton Journal

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 18, 2023

Tap Your Feet And Bang Your Head To SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s Latest Video “Dance Dance Revolution (Till The Death)”

Everyone get ready to party with the latest single “Dance Dance Revolution (Till The Death)” from Florida’s Super Monster Party!

Created from the vision of Rei Sega and his passion, growing up with videogames, Super Monster Party reimagines the lore of heroes and villains and presents familiar themes in imaginative, and humorous ways, of course with a heavy metal twist. Their latest single is in response to a fan request to rework the infamous arcade game Dance Dance Revolution. The track was co-produced with Matt Laplant (Non-Point, Ellefson, Saliva) and also features guests, award-winning saxophonist Hugo Lee and guitarist Oleh Andrievsky, who lives in Ukraine, and recorded all his parts during the war.

“‘Dance Dance Revolution (Till the Death)’ is the second single we released from our upcoming new EP “Rage Quit”, which will be released sometime in 2024. It’s a song inspired by the popular dance game of the same name. The song takes you on a journey as a player inside the game with some twists and turns,” adds Rei Sega.

Super Monster Party writes original songs inspired by popular video games of our past and present. Each song is dynamically different in musical composition, vocal arrangements, and style keeping the music fresh and entertaining. While the lyrics stay unique and true to the game’s lore, attention is paid in providing a relatable connection to those who might be unfamiliar with the games.

The musical content may be tongue-in-cheek, but it does come from serious musicians. Emilio Martinez is also the bassist of Ynwgie Malsteen and Fernando Lemus also drums in Lions at the Gate.

Get your feet ready to dance and your head ready to bang, and you’ll be all set for the latest installment from this heavy-hitting, party band that is recommended for fans of other fun bands such as Electric Callboy, Andrew Wk, and Dragonforce.

MASSIVE SCAR ERA’s “Endorphins” Takes Egyptian Infused Metal To A New Level

New EP “Metal Goes Egyptian” Out Now!

Massive Scar Era, the brainchild of visionary artist Cherine Amr, has recently released their seventh album, an EP, “Metal Goes Egyptian”, which came out in November. Known for pushing the boundaries of music and blending genres, Massive Scar Era once again captivates audiences with its unique fusion of progressive rock, post-grunge, Egyptian music, and metal. They now have a video out for the track “Endorphins”, and Amr explains her vision for the EP:

“I want fans to feel the intensity and energy of metal while being embraced by the melodic beauty and cultural nuances of traditional Egyptian Arabic music. It’s an opportunity for them to embark on a musical journey that transcends boundaries and creates a unique fusion of genres. With heartfelt appreciation, I thank everyone who has made this dream come true, and I invite you all to join us on this remarkable musical journey.”

The band’s formation stemmed from Cherine Amr’s desire to explore songwriting within a complete band framework. Despite the challenges of maintaining a consistent lineup, this approach led to collaborations with diverse arrangers and songwriters, resulting in a rich and dynamic musical experience.

This EP possesses a distinct nature due to its special concept. It is particularly appealing to metal enthusiasts who appreciate a diverse range of folkloric influences. Fans who enjoy the fusion of metal and various folk elements will find great enjoyment in this EP, especially those who enjoy Merkfolk, Aeternam, and Huntress.

“Metal Goes Egyptian” was recorded and filmed with a traditional Egyptian Arabic music orchestra in Studio Mix Art in Montreal, Canada. The EP was released on November 3, 2023 and is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music at the following link: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/massivescarera/metal-goes-egyptian-2

“Steeped in Metal, but bridging the gap to Egyptian music, Massive Scar Era is a Metal band you need to know about in 2023. The brainchild of visionary artist Cherine Amr, their new EP Metal Goes Egyptian, the seventh release in her career, is coming out in November. Not only does the band creative a ground-breaking mix of Metal and world music, Cherine had to flee her country where “the devil’s music” is forbidden to create, let alone defying gender norms that could lead to punishment, or worse. With its unique fusion of Prog Rock, post-Grunge, Egyptian music, and Heavy Metal, the group just released a new single “Between Waves!”” – Ghost Cult Magazine

” When you’re a metal act, you either go big or you go home, and going big is what Massive Scar Era does extremely well. Today, the metal ensemble unveiled the video for their new single, “Oblivious,” off of their Metal Goes Egyptian EP. As an in-studio performance video, it’s simple but effective. It’s particularly effective due to the level of precision with which the band plays. Then you add in the orchestral elements, and you have essentially what amounts to a symphony. Beyond band founder and leader Cherine Amr, there are many minds and parties at play to bring this vision to life. Amr collaborates closely with musicians, producers, and video creators. Her goal is to combine heavy metal’s power with traditional Arabic music’s beauty and charisma. You’ll hear it all come together in perfect harmony upon Metal Goes Egyptian’s official release on November 3rd.” – V13

“As the title indicates, it’s metal with a middle eastern tone and style… mostly melodic death with clean and harsh vox.” – The Moshpit – WORT 89.9 FM (Madison, WI)

“the Egyptian-Western music cocktail has an almost hypnotic effect” – PowerMetal.de

“Through “Metal Goes Egypt”, their new EP, Canadian band Massive Scar Era invites open-minded heavy music fans to embark on a musical journey that transcends borders and creates a unique fusion of metal energy and the melodic beauty and cultural nuances of traditional Egyptian Arabic music.” – YoZone.fr

Canada’s HATRED REIGNS Prepares And Otherworldly Assault With “Ushered By Charon”

New Album “Awaken The Ancients” Out Now!

L-R – Jeff Calder – Guitars, Adam Semler – Bass & Vocals, Neil Grandy – Drums, Mitchi Dimitriadis – Vocals

Ottawa, Canada’s Hatred Reigns is once again shaking the death metal world, this time with “Awaken The Ancients”, a concept album that gives nods to classical literature and death metal titans that was released on December 1st, 2023. Taking modern metal into a new realm of technical riffs, abrasive gutturals, and chest-shaking blast beats, Hatred Reigns presents diverse musical influences in a deadly package that will appeal to a wide variety of headbangers. The band shares the lyrical theme behind the latest video for their single “Ushered By Charon”:

“Awakening to a surreal reality, the protagonist finds themselves in a desolate wasteland at the water’s edge. Surrounding them are countless lost souls, adrift and purposeless. A vessel emerges on the horizon, guided by a disheveled figure at its helm—Charon, the Ferrier of souls. “Awaken The Ancients” is designed to be a complete listening experience, guiding the audience from Realm I: Affliction through the treacherous Realm II: Affirmation.”

Watch the video for “Ushered By Charon” via its premiere on ThCirclePit – https://youtu.be/_Q1GcPMhPaI

The singles on this album serve as bookends, paying homage to the musician’s favourite bands while incorporating elements from songs in the middle of the album that resonated with them, offering a visually appealing representation of their music. The creation of the album was a collaborative effort, with guitarist Jeff Calder conceiving the songs and the band members infusing their own ideas into the final compositions. Some elements evolved over various arrangements, while others came together organically and swiftly with minimal adjustments.

Hatred Reigns intends to assault listeners’ senses with a barrage of diverse soundscapes, creating an expansive and emotionally charged journey across the realms they explore in their epic voyage to Necropia. They are best suited for fans of Behemoth, Cryptopsy, and Suffocation.

“Awaken The Ancients” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Hatred Reigns vocalist Mitchi Dimitriadis, with album art designed by Pedro “Lordigan” Sena. The album is available at the following links:

“Hatred Reigns’ Awaken the Ancients is Brutality in Sound and Theme… For those of you who can’t get enough of their brutal technical death metal thematically based on What Dreams May Come, Dante’s Inferno, Milton’s Paradise Lost, and love wallowing in the murky anguish of life’s darkness, take an audio gander at the stream of the album.” – Decibel Magazine

“this is a slab of high density, very technical death metal that fans will love” – Real Gone Rocks

“Hatred Reigns’ core death metal is sturdy, with bass guitar leads and overactive blast beats giving a technical spark to the album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Hatred Reigns play to their strengths on this album opener (Awaken The Ancients), delivering speed and fury, but impressive agility as well as aggression. They unleash madness in the viciously sizzling and skittering riffage and ruthlessness in the bone-smashing hammer blows that segment the frenzies, and the monstrous guttural growls expel the words in barks that are almost as fast as the backing instrumentation. But the band also switch things up, slowing the tempo and injecting weirdly swirling arpeggios and then hitting the accelerator to bring forth an even more demented and delirious escapade, this time fronted by crazed screams and screeches as well as gritty growls, and propelled to further heights of lunacy by a fret-melter of a solo and bursts of maniacal drum battery. When the band decelerate again, the chords elevate it into an otherworldly realm, both menacing and haunting, and the band also layer in a little bass solo, a few humongous bass drops, and a hulking, lurching stomp. But of course they go back into the fast lane for one last burst of high-adrenaline barbarity as the song surges to the end.” – No Clean Singing

“‘Departing Archeon’, grabs me where I didn’t expect (You can see the video for this at the bottom of this page). This time the vocal and lyrics are instantly engaging… accessible and menacing ‘Welcome… We’ve been waiting for You…’ which somehow made me smile from ear to ear. And just wait for that main riff – it’s f**king perfection. Simple, brutal and so utterly worthy of a headbang. Looking over the release notes they compare their release to ‘Origin’, Suffocation, and Hideous Divinity, but I’m getting vibes of classic Thrash and Death Metal. Think early Sepultura, Gorefest and Carcass, especially with that DIY ethos those thrown in too. It enables them to keep their influences close to their heart and do exactly what they want to. Overall, it took me a few listens to the album to appreciate how good it is. It’s a complex album that doesn’t hide behind overly technical playing … it knows how to keep the riffs simple, crunchy and heavy… Incredible stuff.” – Music Trespass
