About:

Like the slow churn of a mechanical wheel grinding metal, the warship produces a punishing onslaught of sound from start to finish. Lyrically, the dreadnought writing forces are their bassist and vocalist, who focus on themes surrounding current events, horror, and politics – sometimes all rolled into one song.

VANTABLACK WARSHIP’s crew is comprised of Yannick (Pil) Pilon (Arseniq33, Buffalo Theory MTL) at the helm on vocals, Pat Gordon (Ghoulunatics, Les Ekorchés, Leprocy, Buffalo Theory Mtl) on guitar, Pierre Pitre (Arseniq33, Foreshadow) manning the drums, Thierry Hivon (Brutal Chérie, Sarkasm) rigging the guitar,  and Kurt Clifford (Foreshadow) anchoring the bass.

“It’s a menacing mix of explosive thrash and you can let it pummel your senses by hitting play” – Exclaim!

“thrash, groove and gnarly vocals…it’s metal from start to finish and yet the overwhelming sense throughout is that this band’s attitude is punk to the core.” – Five Albums

“The six songs are exactly what you would expect from a band in this genre, hard, ruthless, aggressive and this with a healthy dose of “f*ck the world and all in it” attitude…With this short record, Vantablack Warship shows they fit right into the current crossover scene and fans of bands like Municipal Waste or Suicidal Tendencies can surely appreciate this little piece of work.” – Lords of Metal

“It’s a hard hitting good time from start to end, no weak spots. It’s a mind bending cluster fuck to the tenth power. The vocals through out the album, so rich, yet so creative and they are their own thing. The melodies and mixing, everything has been extraordinary. It was more than a pleasure to listen to this!” – Taste of Khaos

“play a remarkably catchy brand of rocking deaththrash” – The Killchain Blog

“I’m very much digging it and hopefully there will be more coming from Vantablack Warship because I’ll be spinning this one over and over again.” – Thy Demons Be Scribblin

” Vantablack Warship wear their influences for all to see, there is, thankfully, no doubt that they have a sound that is all their own, or at least a sound made their own. Opening track You’ll Burn brings to mind Entombed’s 1993 classic Wolverine Blues, – as do all six tracks, in fact – but never to the point of plagiarism, and although Cancer Bats, Pantera and Slayer are all obvious influences too, there is no sense that you’re hearing a poor imitation, just a kick ass band with great taste in music.” – Morat 666

About:

SAINTS OF DEATH is a four piece that originally began as a Motorhead tribute band that has now taken the reins to write original material with a double bassist attack and set themselves apart from the pack with their unique heavy sound of thrash, doom and hardcore metal.

Taking their experiences from past bands (Snaggletooth, Scissortooth, Dead End Ascension, Skookum, My Own Chaos, Luciferian Conquest, Torrential Pain, Tides of Honor and Annora), these veterans of the Vancouver scene ready to debut their self-titled EP this September 25, 2015 to introduce metal fans to a new sound coming from the Canadian West coast.

Fronted by vocalist and eight string bassist Twan Holliday, a giant standing nearly 7’ foot tall who can also be recognized for his acting credits in some well-known Hollywood movies and pro wrestling (credits below) is joined by four string bassist Darren Morris, guitarist Phil Henri and Christopher James on drums to complete a ferocious line up.

Aiming to set the bar high with a live behemoth of ampage, backed by a custom light show, SAINTS of DEATH are pushing forward to take on the biggest stages and crowds and win over fans who enjoy headbanging to such bands as Black Sabbath, Lamb of God, Overkill, Motorhead, and Pantera.

Track by track of Saints of Death EP explained by the band:

1. Army of the Dead: This song is written from the perspective of a Viking in battle. Its underlying message is about the battle of life. “Everyone’s born, everyone dies”, we fight hard and strong, live, laugh, love and when it’s our time to die, we die!

2. Doom 5.1: This song is about organized religion and greed.

3. Blood Vendetta: This song is written about blood vendettas around the world. It’s about people being born into war, and fighting wars started by generations before them in order of gaining redemption for their lost family.

4. Revolution: This song is about unity and standing up for what is right! It’s a call to people everywhere to join together and fight for their rights and what’s right through Revolution.

5. Angels and Demons: This song is written about an old man on his deathbed. Not happy with his life he struggles though a battle between the right and wrong he has done and who will take possession of his soul; angels or demons.

Fun Fact: Besides being a musician vocalist / bassist Twan Holliday has acting credits for movies American Mary (2012), The Devils Ground (2009) w/ Darryl Hanna, Stan Helsing (2009) (Leslie Neielson’s last movie), Catwoman (2004) w/ Halle Barry, Psych (TV Show) plus has done stunts on Super Natural (TV Show) and Pathfinder (2007). Twan was also a pro hard-core wrestler of 10 years and was on TV every Saturday at 1pm on KVOS TV12 (Bellingham, WA) plus was asked to train for WWE.

About:

ODIUM’s goal is to write heavy and melodic music, while constantly developing their style from album to album. The instrumentals lend their tone and energy to invite more versatility in the vocals in each song. Their passion for performing live and incredible stage energy has allowed them to open for Alexisonfire, The Agonist, Beneath the Massacre, Divinity, Moneen, and Fuck the Facts.

The lyrics invite listeners to take a journey through despair, while the bass and drums drive the rhythm, the guitars straddle the line between pure aggression and melodic riffs. For ODIUM there has always been a pattern of evolution over the past few years that allows them to continuously create multi-genre influenced music. The band is comprised of Joe Mullen, Jake Fortney, Andrew Fullerton, Bo Louther, Marc Dobson, who have come from various bands such as Archaea/Willfall.

The bands name is defined as ‘disgraceful hate’ however after the past 10 years they have come to see the band name relating directly to perseverance. ODIUM has a foundation of trust which creates a bond likened to that of a brotherhood. The dedication and teamwork within the band is based on respect, and because the internal bond is so strong they are able to create a meaningful connection with fans.

“Standouts like the album’s opening title track pit detuned, jud-judding six-strings and double-kick drum rhythms with singer Thomas Emmans’s varied vocal styles, which run from Maynard James Keenan-styled creep-crooning to esophagus-annihilating screams.” – Exclaim!

“Loud and fast but also melodic and complex,  fan of acts like Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God will not be disappointed.” – London Metro News

“Odium are very good at what they do, namely melodic Death Metal. This Canadian quintet have a lot going for them…competent and execute the form very well… There are some nice orchestrated atmospheric moments such as at the beginning of ‘Insomina’” – Metal-Rules.com

“Odium posses very distinctive and strong melodic leanings, catchy riffing and undeniable prowess on the performing front – especially with the clean/growl vocal trade-off and the tight rhythm section….cuts like the thrashy “Viral By Nature”, “Within the Distraction” and the title track, perfectly blend with the more expansive sound of “No Way Out” and the melancholic quasi-ballad “The Descent” among others to deliver a decently solid piece of modern Metal. ” – PureGrainAudio.com

“The thing with a band like Odium is that they know how to walk that line between full on heavy, thrashed out metal and melody. It’s definitely their style, but they only seem to turn it on where it’s necessary, and that speaks to a much wider audience.” – Juliette Jagger – AlanCross.ca

About:

Capturing the classic thrash sound of the Big Four in their prime; early Metallica, Testament, Slayer, and Megadeth as well as lesser known cult heroes Exodus, Annihilator, Forbidden and Havok.  FALLEN ANGELS is influenced by a wide range of 80’s thrash as well as classic metal from the 70’s and 80’s. The band combines these elements in a fresh, modern sounding album with the explosive riffs and solos that one might have expected to hear on the radio around 1989.  FALLEN ANGELS is a band that thrash fans and more classic metal oriented fans can agree on because the music is catchy but also very aggressive.

“Picking out the deadwood from the glut of thrash bands filling the thrash metal genre around the world is not easy but you would not go wrong by checking out this Seattle band as they write clever songs with some brilliantly played leads that are a standout.” – Ave Noctum

“”World In Decay” from Fallen Angels is a solid Thrash album that flies the old school flag” – Metal Only

“I most enjoy how Fallen Angels incorporate so many different types of songs and moments on World in Decay….the spirit of thrash metal is alive and well in Seattle (of all places) with Fallen Angels” – Metal Nation Radio

“If you were in love with the Bay Area scene, check this album out when it hits. And if you are a fan of irony, thrash coming from Seattle should show you that grunge is the loser in the long run of lasting metal mayhem. If you snag a copy, we’d love to hear what you think about it.” – National Rock Review

“These guys give it to you on a molten metal platter with a side of Voivod. This thrash band is bound to feed the need for speed….Every song captures your interest as layer upon layer of tracks there’s something different; little nuances, grace notes, and sweeps. It’s a wonderful earful of surgically placed notes amidst a hail storm of ice picks on your steel shore.” – Horror Metal Sounds

“Nearly every track on this album could be considered a highlight, but my favourites are “Fire At Eden’s Gate” and “Into The Abyss”…On the whole, “World In Decay” is a very impressive album, thanks in large part to the stellar musicianship and attention to detail in the songwriting. Hopefully this album breaks the band through in a much bigger way, because they are deserving of a lot of attention based on this album!” – Skull Fracturing Metal

“”World In Decay” is one of the best thrash metal albums that I have heard in long time.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Listening to World In Decay is a definite blast from the past. Fallen Angels incorporates various elements of Slayer, Megadeth and early Metallica. Songs are fast-paced, contain some political messages and, of course, have energetic guitar solos worthy of melting anyone’s face. Right off the bat, The Hammer’s Blow opens up the album with a short guitar solo, which sets the overall tone and pace for the entirety of the album.” – Screamer Magazine

“if you want intricate, tuneful thrash metal loaded with gratuitous leads and quasi-political lyrics, you’ve got it.” – Terrorizer

“think the weighty arrangements and acoustic sections of Metallica-meets-the technical wizardry of Forbidden, with hints of Realm’s progressive tendencies and Toxik’s shredding leads and shameless melodies.” – Terrorizer

“As The Big Four were known for that unique sound they helped to create and make popular. Thrash now lives on from Seattle with Fallen Angels.” – National Rock Review

“Pure US-Thrash” – Rock Hard

“From a savage, high-octane riff fest in “Legacy of Pain” to a mid-paced, pounding skull crusher “Descension into Madness”, Fallen Angels not only show their true ability to write thrash songs that stand out effortlessly, but are also determined to get their name on people´s lips for good – along with the excellence of their 2nd album, ENGINES OF OPPRESSION. This stuff is meant to kill, even from a long distance.” – Metal-Rules

Bonnyville, AB death-infused melodic metallers SILENT LINE has teamed up with Bravewords.com for the premiere of their second single ‘Black And White’ off their upcoming concept album ‘Shattered Shores’, which is the follow up to their 2012 LP ‘Born of Dying Star’.

Vocalist/guitarist Michael Burton comments about the track:

“‘Black And White’ as part of the concept album is the track that represents the transition into winter after the inferno in the last song. Primarily dealing with the passage of time and fading memories, the lyrics describe a person longing to remember better times. Longing as well for a simpler time when things were seen as black or white: simple and clear choices that do not truly exist. Complex shades of grey have become reality. A lead guitar laden intro moves into a percussive verse featuring mainly drums and bass underneath the vocals. There isn’t a very complex structure to the song, but as with lots of the album it is the feeling that matters, not the amount of notes or changes in time signature.”

To listen to ‘Black And White‘, please visit the following link: http://bravewords.com/news/exclusive-silent-line-premier-black-and-white-audio-streaming

Producing heavy and melodic music with an orchestral flair rooted in death metal‘Shattered Shores’ is the band’s first concept album. The title track is split into two parts, and throughout the album several thematic riffs and lyrics are repeated, creating a motif for listeners. The title references being stranded and trapped forever as the shores become more eroded and the reality of isolation sets in. The lyrics revolve around the themes of overcoming hardships, anxiety, and “weathering the storm” in order to persevere. A single person is referred to throughout the album and everything is told from their point of view as they wander, stuck on the island — unsure of how they got there, and unsure if they will ever leave.

SILENT LINE is composed of Mike Burton leading the charge on guitar and vocals, Randy Bergh writing pummeling guitar riffs, Andy Sidloski crafting driving bass lines, and Adam Kallstrom thundering on drums. The line up charges audiences with their energy and fills the entire room with its symphonic melodies. heir dedication to their craft is strengthened by their loyal fans, who have supported their development over the years with their two previous albums  ‘Born of A Dying Star’ (2012) and ‘One Body Blade’ (2010).

Saskatchewan’s post-hardcore outfit Bonfire are teaming up with Exclaim! Magazine to exclusively premiere their new music video ‘Mom’s Garden’, the title track from their new EP that was released on October 2nd plus was produced and mastered by Karl Shubach from Misery Signals.

The video showcases a beautifully lit room that matches the warmth coming from the band performing ‘Mom’s Garden.’ There is little to no eye contact for the duration of the video to enhance the melancholic atmosphere portrayed in the lyrics and tone of the song. The band is bringing their signature brand of energetic yet somber movement that embodies their post-hardcore, folk-infused music.

“Thank you to Exclaim! for hosting the premiere of our music video ‘Mom’s Garden’ the title track of our debut EP. The video was directed by the talented Dylan Hryciuk of Versa Films. The video captures the sombre tone of the music and lyrics through a warm colour palette, as well as depicts the intensity and emotion of our live performances through quick and creative cinematography. We couldn’t be happier to share it and deeply encourage you to check it out. This release has meant the world to us, and we are unbelievably excited to finally release it!” – Kurt Wolfe (Drums)

‘Mom’s Garden’ can be watched at the following link: http://exclaim.ca/Music/article/bonfire-moms_garden_video

Bonfire creates dark, honest music painted through sorrowful lyrics and a haunting guitar tone. The four piece hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and features members of Hhogwash and other local bands from the hardcore scene.

Lyrically Greg Demers (guitar/vocals) draws from family issues, relationships, and in general low points in life to compose an image for listeners. Thomas Gelley (Bass) and James Wojak (guitar) generate the resonating instrumentals while Kurt Wolfe (drums) drives the songs forward.

Despite the emotional lyrics and dreary instrumentals their passion and energy on stage is explosive, yet sombre. Bonfire started in 2012 and since then has released Adderall (demo) and a split with Newborn last year.

The band is releasing ‘Mom’s Garden’ Fri., Oct. 2, along with a fall tour across Eastern Canada.

“Though they’ve been dropping songs online over the past couple weeks, and will be putting more up over the next few as well, getting people hyped about a new album they have coming out. Bread from Flipper and Low, The Melvins and Harvey Milk, if this is the future of Hardcore, or Post-Hardcore, or whatever genre people are calling it, I need to check out more shows.” – Deadcitypress.ca

About:

Started as a recording project in the late 90’s, it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic that produced a slew of underground releases drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena. Since then, the Ottawa-based unit has barely stopped for a breath of reconsideration, associating themselves with some of the biggest labels in underground extreme music, as well as continuing a steady output of DIY releases. Having toured hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout North America and Europe, guitarist/founder Topon Das, vocalist Mel Mongeon, drummer Mathieu Vilandré, bassist/vocalist Marc Bourgon, and guitarist Johnny Ibay have performed at some of the biggest festivals and sweated it out in some of the smallest basements. From 2006-2011 Fuck The Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records.  Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows Fuck The Facts efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds to them. As one of the longest running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grindcore, FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grindcore” with no end in sight.

“The six songs are exactly what you would expect from a band in this genre, hard, ruthless, agressive and this with a healthy dose of “f*ck the world and all in it” attitude…With this short record, Vantablack Warship shows they fit right into the current crossover scene and fans of bands like Municipal Waste or Suicidal Tendencies can surely appreciate this little piece of work.” – Lords of Metal

About:
Twisting, writhing and forcing their aural onslaught upon metal audiences across the globe have sincerely ensured VESPERIA’s continuity through all the harsh and arduous battles modern metal bands are sure to encounter in their tenures.
Originally formed in 2005 by lead vocalist/ bassist Morgan Rider as a black metal band, the sound, direction and theme of the music naturally evolved into the style of fierce and heroic metal the band is now known for. Shortly after releasing their long overdue brand melodic metal 2011 full-length ‘Voyage from Vinland’, VESPERIA redefined their purpose and direction once and finally with their 2012 demo ‘The Swordsman’ and 2013 full-length ‘An Olden Tale’, drawing the ears and attention of metal fans around the world and demonstrating their true mastery of their craft. With the most fierce music written to date and a bounty of opportunity awaiting,VESPERIA hungrily eye 2015 as the year they will make their mark upon the Earth.
