We live on the layers of deep time and history, strata of times past; life literally depends on centuries of decay. Now, progressive extreme metal visionaries CENTURIES OF DECAY build on the metal that has come before to create the metal of the future. Known for creating an intense powerful atmosphere and letting the metal speak for itself in their live performance, the Toronto based quintet are bringing that experience to fans in their debut self-titled concept album set for release on August 4th.

Teaming up with EchoesAndDust.com, the band is premiering the exclusive full album stream at the following link: http://echoesanddust.com/2017/08/centuries-of-decay-centuries-of-decay-review-exclusive-album-premiere/

Drummer Derrick Doucette comments:

“We’ve often thought about the fragility of civilization throughout history and the idea of events repeating itself. With that in mind, our concept album tells the story of society being born, corrupt and destroyed in an endless cycle. It can be taken as a literal piece of fiction, or even a social commentary. It also comes from more personal issues such as depression, disillusionment and failure.”

About:

We live on the layers of deep time and history, strata of times past; life literally depends on centuries of decay. Now, progressive extreme metal visionaries CENTURIES OF DECAY build on the metal that has come before to create the metal of the future.

Formed in 2013 in Toronto, Ontario, CENTURIES OF DECAY sound is ‘atmospheric, intense, powerful, dynamic, and heavy’.

Drummer Derrick Doucette explains the roots of the band’s name.

“The intention of the name is to paint an image of nature reclaiming the lands and cities and erasing the traces of humanity once people have been removed from the world. This can also be open to interpretation. Some may see Centuries of Decay as being in reference to an extended period of social degradation or the idea of the planet being a barren land void of life entirely. We chose this name because we felt it conveyed a powerful image and atmosphere, which appropriately went hand-in-hand with our musical style.”

That style will be unleashed by the four-piece on their self-titled debut album due out August 4, 2017, which drummer Derrick Doucette is eager for fans to hear.

“I was told recently that someone found our sound very unique and refreshing. That really meant a lot to me and I would love if that opinion was shared by both old and new fans. I find we’ve taken our influences from various sub-genres of extreme metal and turned them into a tasteful blend of compelling, climactic and devastating intensity on these seven tracks.”

Fans can also expect more music in the future.

“We are already looking forward to writing more material and refining our sound more. I’m excited to see how our sound will evolve…Our fans can expect multiple albums as that was the intent from day one!” adds Doucette.

Live, CENTURIES OF DECAY have their own unique approach to performing, they make every set flow together, creating a huge atmosphere and letting the metal speak for itself.

“”Centuries Of Decay bring together old styles to create new, exciting sounds on debut…From the lurching behemoth of the aptly titled “Centuries of Decay” all the way through to the grandiose finale of “Demise”, Centuries Of Decay bring familiar sounds together and forge a glorious new path forward.” – Rock and Roll Fables

“This is not a one-dimensional album that’s easily described. Each song has its own style and flavour, mixing different styles together with well-deserved contempt for genre restrictions and constraints. Centuries of Decay have crafted a modern extreme metal release that effectively combines these different strains of metal into something all of their own.” – Wonderbox Metal

“A concept record regarding the changing times & how life depends on centuries of decay, the ten minute self-titled opening song showcases melodic metal with deep oceans of imagination. Haunting but with a real sense of beauty, the guitar melody alongside a fascinating drum beat is such an appealing sound. A sound that suddenly takes on a darker tone, upping the heaviness & dealing out an absolutely stunning chugging guitar attack. There is no arguing with that start, absolutely mesmerising.” –  Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Up next was Centuries Of Decay, who gave us some atmospheric death metal. Devin Doucette and Rob McAllister shared guitar and vocal duties. Devin sang lead and handled a chunk of the brutal vocals but they gave a few great harmonized melodic vocals. Their last song had an additive time signature, which is something that really catches my attention as a musician.” – Metal Master Kingdom (Live Review Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2016 – Toronto)

Denver, CO’s CRAFTEON is the conception of vocalist and guitarist Lord Mordiggian whom has been inspired to create an entire album influenced by his favorite writer H.P. Lovecraft. Set to unleash their debut “Cosmic Reawakening” on August 25th, the eight tracks on the release are based on classic H.P. Lovecraft tales such as ‘The Outsider’, ‘Dagon’ and ‘From Beyond’. Achieving the unachievable in crafting music to match the stories, CRAFTEON can be best described as Bardic Black Metal.

Their first single “What The Moon Brings“ was unleashed earlier this month and now these dark lords have teamed up with MetalInjection.net for the exclusive premiere of their next track “Dagon” at the following link: http://www.metalinjection.net/av/song-premiere/crafteon-is-h-p-lovecraft-inspired-black-metal-and-it-rules

Lord Mordiggian explains:

“This track is based on Lovecraft’s tale of the same name, in which a deranged veteran submarine crewman is driven to a morphine overdose, throwing himself from his apartment window when he cannot obliterate from his memory a horrifying encounter with an ancient, cyclopean creature. This track reflects the human incapacity for surviving the black gnosis–the maddening knowledge of that which should not be known. “Dagon” showcases Crafteon’s style through its aggressive riffing, atmospheric passages, and manic vocals.”

“Cosmic Reawakening” album pre-order available at https://crafteon.bandcamp.com

Track Listing:
1. The Outsider (5:21)
2. What The Moon Brings (4:14)
3. The Temple (5:09)
4. Dagon (5:10)
5. The Colour Out of Space (6:06)
6. The White Ship (5:25)
7. From Beyond (5:52)
8. The Whisperer In The Darkness (6:08)
Album Length: 42:28

CRAFTEON have upcoming show dates in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah in support of the release.

About:

“That is not dead which can eternal lie yet with strange aeons even death may die.” – H.P Lovecraft ‘The Nameless City’

H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937), creator of the Cthulu Mythos, was the most influential horror writer of the 20th century. Indeed, no less a talent than Stephen King said Lovecraft was ‘the 20th Century’s greatest practitioner of the classic horror tale.’ Lovecraft’s ability to evoke brooding otherworldly horror is unsurpassed and has influenced a great many heavy metal artists from Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath to Metallica. Yet no band has ever paid tribute to Lovecraft with the same degree of scope and immersion as the appropriately CRAFTEON.

CRAFTEON is the conception of vocalist and guitarist Lord Mordiggian. A teacher of literature, Lord Mordiggian was inspired to create an entire album inspired by his favourite writer H.P. Lovecraft.

Musically inspired by the likes of Shining, Dissection, Nyktalgia, Cradle of Filth and Iron Maiden, Lord Mordiggian describes the sound of CRAFTEON as ‘rough-hewn, distraught, mucilaginous, archival and multiplanar.’

CRAFTEON’s debut album “Cosmic Reawakening” features eight tracks inspired by classic Lovecraft tales such as ‘The Outsider’, ‘Dagon’, and ‘From Beyond’. CRAFTEON have achieved the unachievable in crafting music to match the stories, indeed, such are their storytelling prowess and their style of music could be dubbed Bardic Black Metal. Lord Mordiggian is optimistic about the album’s reception and there is more music to come.

“I expect the general fans of black metal to enjoy the influence of early Swedish black metal…This band will remain in the realm of Lovecraft and at least his genre, and considering he has hundreds of other stories, the music to come in the future is virtually limitless as far as the concept goes. I already have several songs in the works for the sophomore album, and this time the other band members are contributing their own original pieces as well.”

CRAFTEON’s debut album “Cosmic Reawakening” is due out August 25, 2017.

“From the moment you hit play on the album, you’re immediately transported into a melodic and mystical world that Crafteon builds on across all 8 tracks, and leaves you wanting more.” – Metal Injection

“The lyrics are indeed Lovecraftian in their evocation of blood-chilling horror. And the music effectively captures the terrifying and grandiose drama of the words, with a pulsating, yowling riff that gets its hooks in fast and cracked, strangled vocals that are monstrously ugly and rise up in flames of delirious anguish.” – No Clean Singing

“one of the most memorable black metal albums ever.” – Disagreement.net

Hailing from Grand Prairie, AB, DEVOLVER is an explosive, progressive, groovy, melodic quintet inspired by the extremity of bands like Soilwork, Whitechapel, In Flames, Born of Osiris and Gojira. Formed in 2015, the band unleashed their self-titled debut album in 2016 that featured a variety of vocalists such as Ryan Sorensen (Apex, Fortress), Jamison Friesen (Renewal, Singularity), Anthony Notarmaso (Stillness) and Scott Oatway (Terminal). The eight track deliverance has been a stepping stone for the five piece to grow and become a much talked about band on the Alberta metal scene along with sharing the stage with Protest The Hero, Protosequence, Windy City Slaughter and more.

Now with full time vocalist Chris Brown to solidify their line up, DEVOLIVER are satisfying the growing hunger of their legions of fans with the debut of his aggressive tendencies on the new single “A Life Lost” premiered exclusively on PureGrainAudio.com.

The band comments:

The experience we want to give fans is one of anticipation, surprise and excitement with each release. We are not one to write the same content over and over, and we want our fans to be aware of that with each release. Our sound will always move forward.”

“Devolver uses melodies, intensity, and a variety of vocalists to hook you, reeling you from song to song making this such a welcoming and comfortable listen. I don’t mean they’re “easy listening,” there heavy as f***, I mean there’s always something different, you’ll never get bored while diving into this debut.” – Vulture Hound

“If After The Burial and The Ghost Inside had a lovechild, it would be Devolver. These guys blew me away with how professional, well written, and how well structured they’ve presented themselves with their Self-Titled record. Each song has its own personality, while still maintaining a signature sound. The breakdowns are simple, yet effective in each song. There is dynamic tension and then well-needed release throughout the record, and it’s downright masterful. This album is captivating, and I recommend anyone that is a fan of metal to check this out.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

About:

Chaos and Order, two seemingly opposing forces that, when observed closely enough, work together subtly to create art in its most divine form. Enter The Order of Chaos, a highly regarded and well respected heavy metal tour de force from the northern wastelands of Alberta Canada. For the last 10 years, trudging through the snow covered landscape, this band has cut its teeth in the most demanding gigging environment this side of the equator. Now, bringing their unique, fresh and well developed sound to a style of music so saturated with sound-a-likes and copy cats, The Order of Chaos has their sights set across the Atlantic Ocean on the homeland of Heavy Metal… Europe.

With two albums and an EP under their belt, the band is prepared to unleash a torrent of brand new material that will redefine genres and carve a path no heavy metal band has even attempted to produce. Meet Amanda Kiernan, a hurricane of live intensity and energy unmatched by her peers. From soaring melodic choruses to gritty, in your face thrash she doesn’t let up for a moment. Her unique take on metal vocals and prowess as a hybrid singer has affirmed her place in metal history. Backed by the duelling guitar virtuosity of John Simon Fallon and John Saturley, and the brick wall rhythm section of Duncan Hickerty and Tim Prevost, this band is something that must truly be seen to be believed, (just ask anyone who has attended their shows).

In September of 2012, after signing with Red Lion Music, The Order of Chaos made their first appearance overseas, stunning fans at the Turock Open Air Festival and in clubs across central Europe. Then again, just seven months later they returned with Vicious Rumors supporting them on their Electric Punishment Tour, gaining many new fans and quickly securing a solid reputation as a phenomenal live act to behold.

With the future looking bright, the determination to succeed, and the creative talent to put forth a fresh sound for heavy metal lovers everywhere, The Order of Chaos is primed for an assault on stages, record stores and headbangers everywhere.

The band comments:

“Cold Confines speaks to the imperfection of the human machine and the self-destructive nature of one’s self.
There is a separation of the body and mind and a simple beauty in decay. Musically, Cold Confines exemplifies Planet Eater’s evolution, melding melody with a percussive mayhem casting the song itself into a dark and menacing tone.”

About:

PLANET EATER takes their name from the original nemesis of humanity Galactus, the destroyer of worlds. PLANET EATER has risen from the barren prairies, spreading their influence into Western Canada as well as gaining recognition in parts of the US, UK and Russia.

Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, PLANET EATER is compromised of Luc Hart, (guitar), Donovan Turner, (vocals), Troy Bleich (bass /vocals) Devin Ubell (guitar) and Nick Eichhorst (drums).

In Jan of 2015 Luc Hart recorded and PLANET EATER released their first self titled EP.  This album made significant waves with its unpredictable blend of death, thrash, groove, progressive riffing. Using the album as a tool, PLANET EATER earned slots on numerous festivals across western Canada in 2015-16. These festivals included Loud as Hell, Armstrong Metal Fest, Calgary Metal Fest, ShrEdmonton Metal Fest, Manitoba Metal Fest and Metal Wizard Fest with many shows in between.

Using an aggressive and unique approach to merchandising and marketing PLANET EATER continues to leave its mark wherever it travels. These merchandise sales help finance the many tours across Canada, including their first music video, Burn It to The Ground off their self titled 2015 release. Garnering thousands of views, Burn It To The Ground continues to spread the word of the PLANET EATER.

PLANET EATER used these festivals and numerous shows to gradually hone their sound and define their identity as the band they are today. In winter of 2016 PLANET EATER returned to the studio to begin recording the follow up full length release, Blackness From The Stars. Blackness From the Stars delves deeper into the initial styles of the band, incorporating a percussive and primal natures while creating dark, layered, and atmospheric grooves.

With a new album in tow for release on August 4th, 2017, PLANET EATER descends yet again into the heart of Western Canada to wreak havoc and debauchery. Slated to play numerous dates including Armstrong Metal Festival and Load as Hell for the third consecutive year, PLANET EATER is poised to make waves in 2017 and beyond.

“PLANET EATER have a tone that makes them stand out… Check out first track and lead single “The Boats”. Within the first 20 seconds a swinging, almost blues inspired riff wraps itself around your head, and then it comes back heavier (and slower) when the full band kicks in. Around that same time, vocalist Donovan Turner makes his presence known with a full throated straight from the guts of hell bellow, immediately calling these proceedings to order….On their first proper full length, PLANET EATER prove themselves contenders not only in the local scene, but have created a product that is worthy of international listenership.” – KNAC

“Planet Eater comes across as a melting pot of amalgamate death metal. Not afraid to add some modern elements, Planet Eater brings a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. Off to a solid start, the future looks bright for Planet Eater, even if the members consider themselves old boys in a new scene.” – The Metal Observer

“Planet Eater from Saskatchewan took the stage and with little said to the audience launched into a crushing and intense set. They were unrelenting as they tore through their twenty five minutes and left the audience wanting more.” – Metal Rules (Live Review – Calgary MetalFest 2014)

WOODHAWK “Strikes Back Tour” (AB/SK/BC)

Riff-tastic Debut LP “Beyond The Sun” Out Now!

New Video “The High Priest”

Calgary’ AB’s masters of straight ahead riff-rock wizardry WOODHAWK will be hitting the road this September for their second Western Canadian tour (AB/SK/BC) (dates listed below) in support of their full length album ‘Beyond The Sun’released this past April. The album was produced by the band with Jesse Gander (Bison, Japandroids) to follow their 2014 debut EP.  Made of equal parts 1970’s Birmingham and a myriad of 21st century heavy who’s who, WOODHAWK are purveyors of riff-centric rock and roll. Capable and original, the band is able to craft anthemic fist-pumping songs while forgoing tired stoner rock clichés. With time travel tested themes of science fiction, swords and sorcery, the band’s lyrics are born from snowy winters, hot practice spaces and pages of dog-eared paperbacks. While the musicianship reinforces recollections of Black Sabbath, modern influences that have helped you smash air drums or highway speed limits are undeniably present.

The band comments:

“This tour sees us wrapping up our western Canada touring in support of Beyond The Sun. Western Canada is so good to us. A New Hope seemed to be a lot of people’s favourite song off the album, so we thought it would be funny to pull another Star Wars reference out, with naming the tour Woodhawk Strikes Back.”

‘Beyond The Sun’ album stream available on Bandcamp at https://woodhawk.bandcamp.com.

The album is available on digital, vinyl and CD.

The band’s music video ‘The High Priest’ can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5g5jTKtEfM

“Beyond the Sun is incredibly infectious and memorable and right from the get go, you know that you are in for a ride. Even if for whatever reason you are in a bad mood, this record will straighten that out in a hurry as it has you nodding your head and belting the lyrics out with the vocalist in no time….a release that is easy to listen to and get into but isn’t easy to put down by any means. Once you begin listening you have a hard time tearing yourself away from your speakers.” – Cadaver Garden

““Beyond The Sun, is overflowing with everything one could want from a great stoner rock record, thick, rumbling bass tones, sizzling guitar fuzz and infectious, mid tempo riffage, making this the kind of album that is very hard to stop listening to” – The Sludgelord

“Woodhawk have a new album – Beyond The Sun – and it’s one that ticks all right boxes if you’re a serious fan of Stoner Rock. Taking influence from bands such as Kyuss, The Sword and Truckfighters. Woodhawk offer a refreshing style of Psych Stoner Metal with moments of Fuzz and Desert Rock that add extra grit to their music.” – Outlaws of The Sun

“The whole album put me in a good mood. Although I am a fan of a more distorted and fuzz-y sounding stoner rock, this was a great cleaned up take…The killer trio band have really created their own rules. One of which is trying to throw out stoner rock stereotypes. And it’s working brilliantly for them. Beyond the Sun is exactly what one would expect from Woodhawk. Riffs and riffs and riffs and high energy drums and more riffs…Moral of the story: this is the perfect CD to pop on when you feel like dancing in your underwear while cleaning your room. I would recommend “Beyond the Sun” to anyone who would like a less distorted version of Red Fang. Which is definitely a compliment, for the record.” – Bangs!

“As I was walking into the venue, I began hurrying up the stairs as their sound captured my attention right away and was quickly swept up into their thick pulse thumping guitars and huge powerhouse drum sound.” – Vancity Buzz

“Calgarian riff-riders Woodhawk kicked off the proceedings, hitting all the gritty notes with their raucous roadhouse metal. Propane and Jack flowed freely as the golden western trio woke all them witches with their thematic rock fury.” – Beatroute Magazine

MUTANK To Play Metalelujah Fest In Quebec City

Out Now! New Mosher “W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” via Boonsdale Records

Wrapping up their cross Canada tour last month with metal legends ANNIHILATOR and Australia’s MASON, Montreal thrashers MUTANK will be returning to Quebec City on August 4th to perform at Metalelujah Fest. The two day festival will feature bands from the Quebec metal scene such as Morgue, Insurrection, Ghoulunatics, Warsenal, Eternal Judgment, Accursed Spawn and more. Full details can be found here.

MUTANK is performing in support of their new EP “W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” released this past June via Boonsdale Records. The five track demolisher was produced with Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) and is a step up from what people have heard from them thus far. The EP follows their debut cassette EP “M.E.C.H. Metal” and is a taste of what’s to come from the band’s full length planned to be unleashed later this year. The title of the EP “W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” stands for “We Have Alottta Thrash Songs That Have Abbreviated Titles” and came to be first as joke for the band.

Vocalist Stephen Reynolds comments:

“I just thought it would be funny to force an acronym for ‘what’s that?’ and I came up with ‘We Have Alottta Thrash Songs That Have Abbreviated Titles’. From there we came up with the concept of an EP with a bunch of forced acronym titles. The EP itself was written somewhat conceptually with the individual songs being very short thrash songs that come together to make one longer progressive thrash track, which harkens back to the title since we don’t even know what it is!”

“W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” is now available for CD order and digital download at the following link: https://mutankthrash.bandcamp.com/album/w-h-a-t-s-t-h-a-t plus all major online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, etc.

“their hybrid thrash, traditional, speed metal makes for a great heavy experience” – We Love Metal

““W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” is one of those records that you seem a band jamming out in their garage and eventually an audience just gathers because their thrash, punk, and a bit of tongue-in-cheek causes the listener to pay attention to what Mutank has to say.” – MUEN Mag

Drummer Derrick Doucette comments:

“We’ve often thought about the fragility of civilization throughout history and events repeating. With that in mind, our concept album tells the story of society being born, corrupt and destroyed in an endless cycle. It can be taken as a literal piece of fiction, or even a social commentary. It also comes from more personal issues such as depression, disillusionment and failure.”

Teaming up with MetalWani.com, the band reveals their second single “Wings of Death”, a song about religious and political propaganda and how it’s use to draw lines between people and nations. The lyrical content of this song draws from influences from George Orwell’s 1984. The song was written as two halves, a slower heavier groove, then kicking into fast paced death metal with some vocal harmonies by guitarists Rob McAllister and Devin Doucette.

(bio written by Steve Earles)

“This is not a one-dimensional album that’s easily described. Each song has its own style and flavour, mixing different styles together with well-deserved contempt for genre restrictions and constraints. Centuries of Decay have crafted a modern extreme metal release that effectively combines these different strains of metal into something all of their own.” – Wonderbox Metal

Evolution is a revolution as ZEALOTS DESIRE morph from straight hard rock to something that is a more classic sound that they like fans to feel strengthened and empowered by. Hailing from London, Ontario, ZEALOTS DESIRE live up to their impassioned name. They have a fanatical desire to bring their unique and genre-redefining brand of heavy rock to the masses. Inspired by bands as diverse and talented as System of a Down, Led Zeppelin, Alice In Chains, and appropriately, Tool, ZEALOTS DESIRE describe their sound as ‘huge, intense, yet graceful and delicate’ and warn their legions of fans that their forthcoming album should be cranked as loud as humanly possible.

Set to perform at WT Fest in Brantford, ON on July 29th alongside Our Lady Peace, Collective Soul, Soul Asylum, Treble Charger, Sumo Cyco and more, these hard rockers are sharing with fans their latest single and video “The Fool”.

The band comments:

“The Fool is one of our favorite songs to perform. It seems to go through all the motions. There’s still something that feels peculiar to us about the chorus as well and we love that about it.”

“Zealots Desire – comprised of guitarist and lead vocalist Joshua Cunningham, bassist Ryan Daniels, lead guitarist Matt Babineau and drummer Dan Hunt – have ingrained themselves as a staple in the regional music scene and, by and large, invoke the same loyalty, fervor and excitement from their fans that you’d expect from much more established artists. It took almost no time for their signature hard-as-nails style of rock and roll to turn up the heat in the venue a few more notches, getting people off their seats and moshing on the dance floor reminiscent of much larger shows. Most notably along with the metal power chords and catchy hooks, lead vocalist Joshua Cunningham’s natural charisma and fun stage presence was outstanding and accentuated the entire performance. ” – Lambton Shield

“Zealots Desire don’t disappoint – everything you love about their wicked blend of grunge and metal is there, including the slamming guitar, and the awesome vocal range of Josh Cunningham – check it out! You’re missing out otherwise!” –  CHSR 97.9 FM

“It’s always nice when a local band is on the cusp of a breakthrough, and I guarantee you’re going to be hearing a lot more about these guys. It’s great meaty rock and roll; it’s so good, you guys should find a way to turn it into a sandwich that we can eat. Veiled under the crunching sound, your pounding drums, your soaring vocals, there is an underlying tapestry of classical music. You guys are the real deal.” – Daytime London, Rogers Television
