Brutal Tech Death Metal WIDOW’S PEAK Reveal “CBT”, A Video About Torturing The Male…

While many metal bands find inspiration from supernatural sources, myths, and legends, WIDOW’S PEAK find influence from true life horror, from the depths of cruelty, terror and pain that man(un)kind so readily descends to.

WIDOW’S PEAK is an aural catalogue of carnage, a metallic mausoleum of pain, a sonic symphony of suffering. Their music does not reach for the stars, but rather for the cold void that surrounds them, the darkness that lives in the soul of man.

Make no mistake; WIDOW’S PEAK’s ferocity is the music of the spears, metal dripping with blood, bile and venom!

Formed in April of 2016, in Calgary AB, WIDOW’S PEAK have toured hard, their line-up has gelled, and are now on the cusp of releasing their debut six-track EP “Graceless”.

Inspired by Meshuggah, Black Dahlia Murder, Pathology, Beyond Creation, and Cannibal Corpse, WIDOW’S PEAK are premiering their second single and video “CBT” via Slam Worldwide at the following link: https://youtu.be/htx_ftqKnow

The band comments:

“CBT (which stands for Cock and Ball Torture) is about as gruesome as it gets, lyrically. It revolves around the fetish some men have for genital mutilation and the people who indulge them in it. The writing process for the song involved intensive research (including graphic videos) about not only the fetish, but the anatomy of the male genitals and various methods of genital mutilation. The lyrics aim to instill the disgust one might experience if they, too, watched someone cut out their own testicles on camera.”

“Graceless” is due out April 27, 2018 with pre-order available on the Bandcamp here.

First single “Mother Misery” – https://youtu.be/iQytg3Wy_FM

The band adds:

“We think fans will react to “Graceless” with a combination of shock, disgust, and adrenaline-pumping groove. Each song is very different from one another, and the EP is well rounded enough that fans of any type of extreme metal will find something they like. While the music is technical and the lyrics obscene, there is an underlying groove throughout that ensures the head-banging musicality is never lost.”

Show Dates:

1. Debt Collector (3:47)
2. CBT (3:47)

Recently returning from their European/ UK tour supporting Hed PE along with Conveyer, Canadian nerd-rockers DOUBLE EXPERIENCE reveal their new music video for their latest single “AI Freaks Me Out”. The video is a nerdy rock song about rogue artificial intelligence. The band had a lot of fun transforming their vocalist into Max Headroom (the robotic TV host from the 1980’s). “AI Freaks Me Out” will appear on the upcoming album “Rock (Geology)”, but is available now on all streaming databases and algorithms everywhere.

About:

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE have performed across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions to Ottawa and Montreal ComicCons as well as many other gatherings such as MAGFest and GuardianCon as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada. The band recently released their FACTOR-funded single / music video, “The Pilot” off their upcoming fourth album “Rock (Geology)” to follow 2016’s break out, “Unsaved Progress”, an album that included their much loved single “The Glimmer Shot”; a Destiny-themed rock anthem, which earned them accolades from the creators of the video game itself plus their cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla”.

“Their new album is upbeat and full of awesome tracks, leading straight into the first song, ‘So fine‘, which instantly gets you into the mood of this album.” – Ram Zine (UK)

“Verifying my “nerd” suspicions, they began and closed an original song with Darth Vader’s theme, the Imperial March, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. In addition to their set of mainly original music, they also included a cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s Godzilla, which was fitting with their stoner vibe, especially considering there is also a Fu Manchu version.” – Spotlight Ottawa

“this band is passionate about video games which is reflected in the underlying themes of their music. More apparent to non-video game savvy listeners is that Double Experience are a solid rock band with well crafted and catchy tunes that have crossover appeal to fans of different music genres.” – Forget The Box

“The songs on this, 9 track, album are narrative driven and mammoth in proportion. Songs like ‘AAA‘ and ‘Godzilla‘ are glorious sagas of esoteric depth. There is a power on this album that is both new and old.” – 925 Rebellion

Calgary, AB’s masters of straight ahead riff-rock wizardry WOODHAWK will be embarking on their 2018 Canadian “Magnetic North Tour” in support of their latest full length album “Beyond The Sun” released during April of last year and recently named the #12 most played release on the Canadian College Radio Top 20 Loud Charts for 2017 (Source: Earshot). The tour will see the trio trek across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba plus performing for the first time in Ontario and Quebec.
The band comments:
“We’re excited to be hitting the road again and heading out East this time. We haven’t played past Winnipeg yet and we’re stoked to finally make it out there.”WOODHAWK’s debut album “Beyond The Sun” was produced by the band with Jesse Gander (Bison, Japandroids) to follow their 2014 self-titled EP.  Made of equal parts 1970’s Birmingham and a myriad of 21st century heavy who’s who, WOODHAWK are purveyors of riff-centric rock and roll. Capable and original, the band is able to craft anthemic fist-pumping songs while forgoing tired stoner rock clichés. With time travel tested themes of science fiction, swords and sorcery, the band’s lyrics are born from snowy winters, hot practice spaces and pages of dog-eared paperbacks. While the musicianship reinforces recollections of Black Sabbath, modern influences that have helped you smash air drums or highway speed limits are undeniably present.

‘Beyond The Sun’ album stream available on Bandcamp at https://woodhawk.bandcamp.com.

The album is available on digital, vinyl and CD.

#12 on National Loud Top 20 for 2017- Canadian College Radio Charts (Earshot)

The best Canadian metal of 2017: Top 15, according to Hellbound.ca – #13 – Woodhawk

“Beyond the Sun is incredibly infectious and memorable and right from the get go, you know that you are in for a ride. Even if for whatever reason you are in a bad mood, this record will straighten that out in a hurry as it has you nodding your head and belting the lyrics out with the vocalist in no time….a release that is easy to listen to and get into but isn’t easy to put down by any means. Once you begin listening you have a hard time tearing yourself away from your speakers.” – Cadaver Garden

““Beyond The Sun, is overflowing with everything one could want from a great stoner rock record, thick, rumbling bass tones, sizzling guitar fuzz and infectious, mid tempo riffage, making this the kind of album that is very hard to stop listening to” – The Sludgelord

“Woodhawk have a new album – Beyond The Sun – and it’s one that ticks all right boxes if you’re a serious fan of Stoner Rock. Taking influence from bands such as Kyuss, The Sword and Truckfighters. Woodhawk offer a refreshing style of Psych Stoner Metal with moments of Fuzz and Desert Rock that add extra grit to their music.” – Outlaws of The Sun

“The whole album put me in a good mood. Although I am a fan of a more distorted and fuzz-y sounding stoner rock, this was a great cleaned up take…The killer trio band have really created their own rules. One of which is trying to throw out stoner rock stereotypes. And it’s working brilliantly for them. Beyond the Sun is exactly what one would expect from Woodhawk. Riffs and riffs and riffs and high energy drums and more riffs…Moral of the story: this is the perfect CD to pop on when you feel like dancing in your underwear while cleaning your room. I would recommend “Beyond the Sun” to anyone who would like a less distorted version of Red Fang. Which is definitely a compliment, for the record.” – Bangs!

“As I was walking into the venue, I began hurrying up the stairs as their sound captured my attention right away and was quickly swept up into their thick pulse thumping guitars and huge powerhouse drum sound.” – Vancity Buzz

“Calgarian riff-riders Woodhawk kicked off the proceedings, hitting all the gritty notes with their raucous roadhouse metal. Propane and Jack flowed freely as the golden western trio woke all them witches with their thematic rock fury.” – Beatroute Magazine

0 DEEP DARK RIVER (Vesperia’s Morgan Rider) New Acoustic Blues Folk Video “The Golden Bough”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 20, 2018

DEEP DARK RIVER (Vesperia’s Morgan Rider) New Acoustic Blues Folk Video “The Golden Bough”

Best known for his vocals and bass playing in Canada’s much loved Vesperia, Morgan Rider is proud to reveal is his new video for “The Golden Bough” from his new solo acoustic folk, blues, doom side project DEEP DARK RIVER. The video addresses today’s recent tragedies of unfortunate victims from guns to war and the time to come together as a society and really push for difference from repeating these tragedies over and over again.

Rider comments:

“The song has been the most organic and charged song I’ve ever written. It talks about the very real issues we are facing in 2018 in the wake of yet another avoidable tragedy.

Echoing a sentiment of a contemporary of mine: John Lennon. The man preached universal love and unity for people of all walks of life, only to have his own life taken one December night by a man armed with a firearm. How many more people have to lose their lives, how many families will have to put their loved ones into the ground before this crushing reality begins to even create a whisper of change? How long will it be before we realize that we are alone in an incalculably vast darkness; that we only have each other and the other sentient creatures on this planet for warmth and company.

The Golden Bough is about stripping away all the petty differences we visualize over our appearances, geographies and beliefs. To brace ourselves for the storm, we need to stand beside each other and remove the crowns we have fashioned for ourselves and for one another; to see what we truly are.”

Watch “The Golden Bough” at the following link:

“The Golden Bough” is one of many tracks that will appear on DEEP DARK RIVER‘s upcoming debut self-titled album. The solo endeavour combines all the humble qualities of blues, folk and classical into a well-balanced, artfully crafted musical reflection on life, hope and old-fashioned storytelling while delivering a uniquely fresh and uplifting listening experience.

Vancouver’s blackened death thrashers HALLUX reveal their new music video “Yersinia Pestis” in support of their debut self titled album unleashed this past February. Inspired by Toxic Holocaust, Satan’s Wrath, S.O.D, Celtic Frost, and Power Trip, the trio offers a thrash album with influences that draw from Death, Black, Crossover and D-Beat. The album features ragers such as ‘Yersinia Pestis’, ‘Master Machine’, ‘Chosen Enemy’, ‘Absolved in Flames’, and ‘Herders of the Weak’.

The band comments:

“We decided to start a project focused on a straight-forward approach and aesthetic inspired by early extreme metal bands, with the classic three-piece line-up, and leaving behind anything other than the absolute necessity to pull it off. We hope this album is received as a representation of our ideals by like-minded people…We want it to incite feelings of disconformities and disdain by illustrating the corruption of all forms of authority.”

About:

HALLUX are a band, who, in the immortal words of Max Cavalera, have gone ‘back to the primitive.’ Like a volcano of toxic sludge, they have cracked the crust of conformity that envelopes the world, shedding molten light on the oppression and fear that surrounds us.

Inspired by Toxic Holocaust, Satan’s Wrath, S.O.D, Celtic Frost, and Power Trip, drummer Ian Demian-Pérez describes HALLUX’s sound as “encrusted anti-authoritarian deathened thrash!”, while their debut self-titled album, which includes ragers such as ‘Yersinia Pestis’, ‘Master Machine’, ‘Chosen Enemy’, ‘Absolved in Flames’, and ‘Herders of the Weak’, he describes as “a thrash album with influences that draw from Death, Black, Crossover and D-Beat, we are a band that deals with the deception, lies, and oppression enforced by the powers that be!”

Perez explains the meaning of his band’s intriguing name.

“Hallux means ‘big toe’ in Latin, and is representative of what keeps us human and connected to this realm. No matter how much a person tries to transcend spiritually, their big toe remains buried in the mud.”

Live, HALLUX showcases their no-frills philosophy.

“We play tight and straight to the point sets, with little or no banter between songs and relentlessly playing song-after-song. We are not the kind of band that has gimmicks. We like to keep it simple and direct!”

HALLUX’s self-titled album was released on February 23, 2018 on Bandcamp, iTunes, CD Baby and all major online retailers.

“Each song has its own gravity to the album, and all together create SENSE OF FEAR’s presentation to the world as a band and as musicians. All the lyrics come from personal experiences and emotions. This is our way to express ourselves and fight the personal demons.”

“As The Ages Passing By…” was recorded at Valve Studio in Thessaloniki, Greece by Stratos “Strutter” Karagiannidis (Gus G , Wardrum) with mixing and mastering done at Music Factory and Prophecy Studios in Kempten-ALLGÄU, Germany by R.D. Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy, Devil’s Train) & C. Schmid. Album artwork designed and edited by Colin Marks (Nevermore, Exodus, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Kataklysm, Jeff Loomis, Xerath, Sylosis).

“As The Ages Passing By…” is set to be released via ROCKSHOTS RECORDS on April 20, 2018.

Inspired by Meshuggah, Black Dahlia Murder, Pathology, Beyond Creation, and Cannibal Corpse, WIDOW’S PEAK are premiering their first single “Mother’s Misery” via NoCleanSinging. a track showcasing their brutal, dirty and technical death metal.

The band comments:

“Mother Misery combines tribal beats with exotic tonalities into sections that are as technical as they are groovy. The mid-tempo pulse of the verses is contrasted by the slow, hazy rhythmic sections toward the end and the bursts of technical leads from the guitars. The tongue-twisting lyrics are spit faster than can be comprehended upon first listen.”

Listen to “Mother Misery” at the following link: http://www.nocleansinging.com/2018/03/16/an-ncs-premiere-widows-peak-mother-misery/

“Graceless” is due out April 27, 2018 with pre-order available on the Bandcamp here.

WITHIN THE GIANT’S REACH Rip Your Face Off With “Faceless” Video Premiere via New Noise Mag

Many bands make metal drawing inspiration from what has gone before, but San Antonio-based WITHIN THE GIANT’S REACH make music courageously drawn from the present, inspired by the reality of the world that surrounds them. Theirs is a firestorm of fury, a searing sonic symphony of songs from the heart dealing, in songs likes ‘Scars’ and ‘Faceless’ with such subjects as bullying and internet trolls. Overall with songs like ‘Rise and ‘The Summit’, WITHIN THE GIANT’S REACH make music of strength, self-belief and empowerment, which will all be featured on their debut EP “In The Beginning” set for release on May 11, 2018.

“We are stoked for fans to hear the new EP and feel the energy. We want it to wake them up inside. We want to inspire them to conquer their Giants and to do great things. “I can’t even try and place Within the Giant’s Reach into any genre as they seem to cover most genres in one track. There are elements of Thrash, Death, Death-core, Hardcore and Tech Death. How it is possible to manage this in one track is beyond my imagination. If their forthcoming EP is anything like this track, then I am sure that Within the Giant’s Reach will find themselves a lot of new fans across the globe.”  – The Metal Review

About:

Formed in 2016 with the beautiful backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, METALOCALYSPTICK was created to present a unique experience within the Western Canadian metal community, a gathering of similar views, aspirations and musical taste. (similar to former mainstream music festival Lilith Fair.)

The festival was founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.

“This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can’t we celebrate that?” says Kinney.

Previous Metalocalypstick festivals hosted female influenced metal bands from across Canada and the world such as Brazil’s Nervosa (Napalm Records), Egypt’s Massive Scar Era, Cabrakaan (Toluca, Mexico), Hollywood’s The Maension, Valfreya, Scythia, Mortillery (Napalm Records), Van Halst, Dead Asylum, Juliet Ruin, Violent Betty, Omega Crom, Körperlose Stimme, Elysium Echoes, Solborn, Monarch Sky, Forsaken Rite, Anarcheon, Suspended,  Sovereign Council, and Atmora.
