Vancouver, BC’s progressive tech death metallers NECK OF THE WOODS will be trekking across Canada and USA this April and May in support of their debut album “The Passenger” released last September via Basick Records. The debut album was recorded at Rain City Recorders and produced by Stu McKillop and the band, with art direction by vocalist Jeff Radomsky and layout design by Kevin Moore at Soft Surrogate. The nine-track offering truly captures the band’s crushing blend of progressive, death-inspired, technical, and groove-laden metal.

Guitarist Dave Carr comments:

“We can’t wait to hit the road and make some new friends. Being from Ontario myself, I’m personally very excited to bring this band back to where I grew up and play the circuit. This is a huge opportunity to get our music out to a whole new fan base, especially with the US dates. We’re ready to hit the road and show everyone what NOTW is all about!”

Vocalist Jeff Radomsky adds:

Unrelenting in their live performances, NECK OF THE WOODS have quickly earned themselves a reputation as one of the most exciting acts to emerge from Vancouver’s metal scene. Making appearances at multiple Canadian festivals (Loud As Hell, Sled Island, Armstrong Metal Fest, Calgary Metal Fest) along with supporting major touring acts such as CONVERGE, EVERY TIME I DIE, MISERY SIGNALS and more, NECK OF THE WOODS have established themselves as a high energy set not to be missed. Their sonic palette is one that is complex, dynamic, and progressive, continuously pounding away at the wall of death.

Like a blackened metallic phoenix rising from the ashes of their previous band Endemise; Ottawa’s SERENE DARK intends to take their extreme metal to new heights. Recently morphing from Endemise to SERENE DARK, these demons have joined forces with NoCleanSinging.com for the premiere of their debut track “Dualitatem”, which will be featured on the band’s 2018 album.

Guitarist Dale Sauve explains:“We have been making metal with our current line-up for the past 7 years and decided a new name and fresh start was in order. Our former band Endemise formed over 12 years ago and it went through so many line-up changes and musical directions, we decided to put that band to rest and create Serene Dark as a fresh start.”

Inspired by Septicflesh, Behemoth, Watain, Dark Funeral and Dissection, SERENE DARK‘s sound is dark, heavy, entrancing, emotional, and orchestral.

Thrash metal never dies! Like some mutated metal monster; a Thrashzilla if you will, it sees off all trends; and comes back stronger than ever.

One of the reasons for this is the love both fans and musicians alike have for this most durable form of metal. Such a band are 80s legends Ottawa’s INFRARED; a band who made a big impact with Canadian fans in the 80s; and have in recent years returned to cement and carry on their own legacy, releasing a newly-recorded album of their classic material “No Peace” in 2016, which will now be followed by their new album “Saviours” due out May 25th, 2018.

An apt name for an album because INFRARED really are Saviours of classic thrash metal!

Describing INFRARED’s sound as “thrashy, aggressive, melodic, heavy, and tight”, guitarist/vocalist Armin Kamal explains that INFRARED’s inspirations run deep.

“The Big Four will stand out as we have been described as a band with a bay area sound…But our influences are truly rooted in 70s and early 80s metal. Accept, Scorpions, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest are all bands that laid the foundation and the love of metal for us!”

Armin is stoked for fans to hear INFRARED’s new “Saviours” album.

UK groove death metallers BLOODSHOT DAWN‘s first cross Canada tour will be kicking off this week in Quebec City on April 17th and wrap up in Calgary on May 1st. The tour is in support of their third full length album “Reanimation” unleashed this past January via Hostile Media. Supporting the band across the country will be Cambridge, ON’s AEPOCH. Canada is also BLOODSHOT DAWN guitarist Morgan Reid’s home country and it’s a special return home for him. The Canadian shredder joined the band’s line up after previous guitarist Ben Ellis went on to perform with Scar Symmetry. Reid is now part of BLOODSHOT DAWN‘s fresh assault that includes sticksman James Stewart of Vader fame on drums, new bass player Giacomo Gastaldi along with vocalist and guitarist Josh McMorran.

“We are hitting Canada this April and we are excited to perform in North America for the first time. We’re looking forward to headbanging with all our Canadian fans and visiting the beautiful country our guitarist Morgan grew up in.” says band leader Josh McMorran.

First formed in 2003, BLOODSHOT DAWN have evolved into a technically ferocious extreme metal outfit. Hailed by Terrorizer Magazine as a band that delivers “blistering live shows”, BLOODSHOT DAWN has become a household name in the UK underground along with truly establishing themselves as a heavyweight act amongst their peers and the worldwide metal scene. Western Canada’s decibel breaking heavy metal festival LOUD AS HELL announce their 2018 line up featuring headliners New Jersey’s deathcore titans FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, Vancouver tech death giants ARCHSPIRE, Regina’s progressive melo-death masters INTO ETERNITY plus many more to rage across the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds of Drumheller, AB from August 3rd to 5th.

With the world becoming a darker place by the day, we need more metal bands that deal in Realistic Escapism; that is escapism that draws from events in the real world (see Joseph Campbell’s seminal ‘Hero With A Thousand Faces’ for more) and helps the listeners cope heroically with their own daily battles. The aural equivalent of the work of George R.R. Martin!

Indeed, Alberta power-influenced progressive death metal band VALYRIA take their name from the works of the aforementioned Martin.

As the band explains. “Valyria is a ruined city in the world of Essos, the world in which George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ takes place. Valyria is a city of wonderment, magic and untold power. The aesthetic Martin creates within his novels is a similar atmosphere to that we as a band try to conjure with our music.”

Influenced by Wintersun, The Faceless, Dragonforce, Blind Guardian and Omnium Gatherum, VALYRIA describes their sound as “dramatic, complex, uplifting, emotional, technical” something their fans will be able to hear on their new EP “Into The Dying of Time”, which features such soon-to-be-classics as “Steel Inquisition”, “Tome of The Shattered Vessels”, “Of Sky and Sea”, “The Crossing” and “Floating World”.

Stoked for their fans to hear their new EP, VALYRIA have teamed up with ToiletOvHell to reveal the first single “Steel Inquisition”.

“We have spent the better part of a year arranging and recording the music and it has been a very long but rewarding process. All four of us combined our influences and styles into something that we are truly proud of. For those about to hear ‘Steel Inquisition’, it is a fast technical melodic death metal track with a strong power metal chorus and an epic conclusion designed to get the crowd moving and start things off with a bang. It is also an updated recording of its 2016 demo version. It features entirely new vocal tracks, slight differences in composition, and a new mix and master. The song is a retelling of Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy novel ‘Mistborn’, with a particular focus on the character Kelsier and his actions in creating a legend to lead a revolution through sacrifice.”

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Hailing from the frozen tundra of Ontario, AxMinister are the heroes of metal the world needs! Initially formed back in the forgotten mists of metallic history (1999); the power-trio returns in 2018 with their next triumph “The Crucible of Sin” to follow singles “Visceral Speed” (2017), “AXistential Christmas” (2015), “Unborn Warriors: The Cries of Tomorrow” (2015) and full length “Betray Everything” (2015).

Warriors of metal on a holy quest AxMinister is inspired by Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Manowar and can be best described with a sound that of a sped up Type O Negative.

This EP has that ‘90’s warm thrash sound akin to Megadeth’s Youthanasia album.
