NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 8, 2018

For fans of Angelmaker, Carnifex, Veil of Maya, Impending Doom, Upon A Burning Body

CREATURES Update Ontario Tour Dates + New EP “II” Out Now!

CREATURES “II” Ontario Tour:
August 12 – Toronto, ON – The Rockpile
August 16 – Barrie, ON – Foxx Lounge – info
August 17 – Toronto, ON – Bovine – info
August 19 – Hamilton, ON – The Doors Pub – info
August 20 – Brantford, ON – Our Place – info

L-R = Christian Roman – Bass, Vic Borowski – Guitar, Rob Esposito – Vocals, Nick Galati – Guitar, Tj MacKay – Drums

Spawned in the Toronto murk in 2015, CREATURES is a group effort with a long history that intertwines the lives of numerous local bands to summon a truly devastating soundscape of unbridled chaos. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, CREATURES is a 6 piece band playing heavy and catchy deathcore, taking intense sounds and mixing in small elements of extreme and black metal.

Almost immediately after forming, CREATURES released a 4 track self-titled EP. A varied sampling of the musical talents from the band helped them gain the interest of fans in the local scene and they played several shows with great reception. Taking great pride in live performances, Creatures embodies all the aspects of showmanship with high energy and audience involvement.

Three years later, in 2018, they unleashed their second offering the “II” EP unto the world through their own independent label Old Haunt Records on July 20th. The songs reach into a large porcelain cup of topics and instead of just merely presenting their themes to their listeners, CREATURES smashes the cup in their faces, making sure their themes cut deep and stay with the listeners. Whether they are lyrics about the futility of existence with a cartoon metaphor, or the bond of brotherhood within an intense party setting, there is a message for everyone to latch onto. Regardless, the songs are a visceral insight into the band’s life.

The band comments:

“The ‘Creatures II’ EP as a whole is the ideas and thoughts over the past year. We are expecting this release to be even better received than the last EP. We worked twice as hard on ‘II’ and had a few new people along the way that really helped add an outside perspective to the creative processes for a more mature and heavy sound. We really just want to create a seamless listening experience for the fans, leaving them wanting more, and left with the feeling of needing to listen to the EP over and over again.”

EP available for download and stream on Bandcamp and Spotify.

“II is five tracks long and flys by in an instant as barbaric riffs, bitter vocals, mind-bending breakdowns and a constant feeling of desperation wrap around you. This is not an EP for the faint of heart as Creatures have a habit of jumping out at you in an attempt to startle you.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“a bridge between Mathcore and Deathcore! Interesting combination.” – Heavy Metal New York

“With a year gone by with some amazing Deathcore albums, this year has been a little bleak. Not to worry though, this little jewel is here. To get straight to the point, this band’s style is absolute and true to their promise, for their influences scream out the best traits of both Carnifex and Angelmaker….This is an easy 8/10. Deathcore the way it should be.” – PIG SQUEALS AND BREAKDOWNS
“This is heavy and catchy deathcore, incredibly intense, which also brings in elements of extreme and black metal. Inspired by bands such as Necrophagist, Despised Icon and Thy Art Is Murder, this is one heck of an EP.” – Frame Music

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 8, 2018

For fans of Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D,
Weird Al Yankovic, Primus, Stephen Lynch, Mr. Bungle

PSYCHOSTICK Top #1 On Billboard Charts and More!

Surprised Fans With New Album “DO”

North American Tour Dates w/ Mushroomhead & Urizen

Surprising fans with their new album “DO” during their live webcast on Twitch on July 24th (watch the video https://youtu.be/fKUKEiQXS7M), the kings of comedy rock PSYCHOSTICK are excited to comment on its #1 debut on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart along with ranking at #14 for Hard Rock Album, #39 for Rock Album, #39 for Independent Albums and #9 for Heatseekers Albums for the week of August 11th.

“DOWN WITH PRE-ORDERS! The simplicity of the surprise release was refreshing. We make album. We enjoy making album. We put out album. Fans enjoy album. DONE. Now let’s order a pizza or something, studio sleep deprivation makes me hungry.”

PSYCHOSTICK ranked on the following Billboard Charts for the week of August 11th. Charts info here.

#1 Comedy Albums
#14 Hard Rock Album Sales
#39 Rock Album Sales
#39 Independent Albums
#9 Heatseekers Albums
#6 Heatseekers East North Central
#6 Heatseekers West North Central
#7 Heatseekers Mountain

It only took four years for “DO” to surprise fans and follow PSYCHOSTICK’s extremely fan loved “IV: Revenge of The Vengeance”. And it wasn’t because they were lazy… NO! But because these geniuses of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover have been super busy releasing viral videos and touring the world.

“DO” may have passed by fans quickly, but it’s sure to impress and continue PSYCHOSTICK‘s reign as one of the funniest band’s to listen and laugh to. The album features over an hour of variety of laugh track headbanging tunes including singles “Adulting”, because who really wants to grow up and “From The Heart”, a ballad for those you really dislike.

The band comments:

“Whelp, here it is! “Do.” This whole “surprise, nerd! New album!” experiment was extremely fun, and we’re beyond appreciative of your patience and understanding. We agree with you – four years is way too long. We hope to fix that despite what Murph says!

“Do” is our first 100% independent, label-free release since 2003! Our production process is still completely internal, but this time all profits go straight to Psychostick. This is extremely huge for us and we can’t thank you enough.

2018 marked the fifteenth anniversary of our first album, and we’re beyond excited that we’re still kickin’, making globs upon globs of comedy metal. We aim to do this until they kick us out of the old folks’ home or off of Mars. That’s right. We’re goin’ to Mars, damnit.”

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they’ve coined as ‘humorcore’. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory Psychostick have released five full-length albums–‘We Couldn’t Think of a Title’ (2006), ‘Sandwich’ (2009), ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D’ (2011) and ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance’ (2014), ‘DO’ (2018) —and two EPs—their holiday album, ‘The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride’ (2007), and ‘The Digital Appetizer’. With their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic), Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER announce they will be unleashing their sixth studio album “Play To Win” on October 26th via their independent label Record Breaking Records. Revealing their artwork and track listing, the album features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

In support of the release of “Play To Win”, STRIKER are launching a crowd funding campaign along with album pre-order via their official website www.striker-metal.com/shop beginning August 9th.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments: “Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

“Striker gush with so much enthusiasm here, with explosive riffs swirling between the vibrant harmonies and choruses, that it’s hard not to notice…Tracks like “Former Glory” and “Born to Lose” are anthemic, catchy as hell and feature soaring vocals from Dan Cleary and terrific guitar work by Tim Brown…On Striker, the band take a host of influences and hone them into a sound they can call their own.” – Exclaim!

“From the first storm-summoning power chord on the opener Former Glory, Striker (CAN) proves their new album’s initial claim of not dwelling on the past, a high and appropriate cry of “Yeah, I’m back again!”… If you haven’t witnessed this inspiring resurrection of classic metal, the band plays Friday, April 14 at Starlite with Ravenous and Tylor Dory Trio, no doubt sharpened from the faithful overseas audiences.” – Edmonton Journal

“When a band releases an eponymous album it’s a statement of intent, a sign of confidence, everything being as it should be. For make no mistake, Striker are a special band. As the old Metal Gods ascend to Valhalla, new gods will arise. This is Striker’s fifth album and it’s just timeless. Not retro, not looking back, but taking everything that’s uplifting and glorious about heavy metal into 2017 and beyond…this album has to be in every writer and fan’s top ten at the end of 2017.” – Hellbound

“A less balls out, more aggressive record than its predecessor, STRIKER delivers another impressive collection of high energy headbangers….Regardless of what your heavy metal predilections may be, STRIKER offers something for everyone. Super catchy tunes dripping with shred gymnastics and all around technical prowess, Striker deserves a place on any metal fan’s playlist….If you have not experienced Striker yet, this album is a worthy place to start and should appeal to a wide range of fans, particularly followers of the Priest, Anthrax and Maiden.” – Metal Rules

0 Sludge Trio APE VERMIN Posts New Lyric Video For Album Title Track “Sonic Monolith”

  • August 2, 2018
  • by Asher
  • · Ape Vermin · Music News

(contact info below)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 1, 2018

For fans of Conan, Slabdragger, High On Fire, Sumac

Sludge Trio APE VERMIN Posts New Lyric Video For Album Title Track “Sonic Monolith”

New Album “Sonic Monolith” Out Now!

L-R = Jeb Laird – Bass/Backing Vocals, Charlie Burleson – Percussion, Brett Lee – Guitar/Lead Vocals/Secondary Percussionist – Photo credit: Shyann Roland

Formed in August 2017 by Brett Lee (guitar/vocals/percussion) and Charlie Burleson (percussion), Ape Vermin is a sludge metal trio hailing from Valdese, North Carolina that delivers progressive, primal and percussive grooves to the masses. Birthed from the same vein of doomy prog acts such as Conan, Sumac and Slabdragger, they are a treat for anyone who wishes to indulge in thick, tasteful riffs and a heavy, distorted overall sound.

After enlisting the talents of Charlie Burleson and Jeb Laird (bassist/backup vocals), the band began writing and their debut album “Sonic Monolith” was recently released this past June of 2018 with a great response. Citing that they, as a band, want to give listeners a journey, they broach topics including astronomy, murder, occult, myths, apocalypse and extraterrestrials.

Vocalist / guitarist Brett Lee explains:

“The album is a self-created concept album. Here’s the tale in short, The Astral Drones are activated to leave the planet they are stationed on and travel through space while emitting a sonic DB that will trigger the monolith (Mega Pyramid/Spaceship operated by Higher beings) to initiate and proceed with what needs to be done (The Oath they made) within the galaxy. It has been triggered so it and the drones can proceed to visit each planet in this particular galaxy and release their thousands of lab-raised subspecies of ape (Ape Vermin) to aid them in destroying everything on the planet(s) so they can re-propagate the planet(s) with a new self-created hybrid Species(Not the apes).”

Still a fledgling band, Ape Vermin continues to push their limits as musicians, and test different styles, genres and influence to further develop their sound. Focusing on sludge and doom, Ape Vermin likes to keep things spicy with nods to black metal and prog. With future plans to tour, and release more albums as well a comic book, Ape Vermin is looking forward to the future.

The band’s new lyric video for the album’s title track can be heard at the following link: https://youtu.be/5vYk8fl4Wg8

Album download and stream available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, CD Baby, Amazon.

Track Listing:
1. Astral Drones (9:28)
2. Oath (4:58)
3. Abominable Hashmen (6:09)
4. Witch-Jive (4:19)
5. Sonic Monolith (12:10)
Album Length: 37:06

Montreal, QC – August 1, 2018

Acclaimed Extreme Progressive Metal Act INTO ETERNITY Signs With M-Theory Audio

Long-awaited sixth album ‘The Sirens’ due Oct. 26 on CD, LP and digital

L-R – Tim Roth – Lead Guitar, Vocals,  Matt Cuthberson – Guitar, Amanda Keirnan – Vocals, Bryan Newbury – Drums, Troy Bleich – Bass, Backing Vocals

The Canadian extreme progressive metal quintet INTO ETERNITY recently unveiled a new song, “Fringes of Psychosis”, (https://youtu.be/V5rOJADB4GE) which marked the first official taste of their long-awaited sixth album “The Sirens”. Today, M-Theory Audio is proud to announce the group’s signing, and that the record will be released on October 26. Physical pre-orders are available now at this location (www.m-theoryaudio.com/store), while a digital pre-order (which includes an instant download of “Fringes of Psychosis”) is underway on Bandcamp (intoeternitysk.bandcamp.com).

Originally, INTO ETERNITY intended to self-release “The Sirens” after a planned release through a European label fell through, but the group recently reconnected with M-Theory Audio president Marco Barbieri, who served as president of Century Media Records when the band released such acclaimed albums as “Buried In Oblivion” (2004) and “The Scattering Of Ashes” (2006).

“The Sirens” – which features guest appearances by former vocalist Stu Block (now in Iced Earth), Cam Dixon (ex-Annihilator) and Glen Drover (ex-Megadeth) – sees INTO ETERNITY firing on all cylinders, with Amanda Kiernan’s fierce vocals and Tim Roth’s trademark guitar heroics and vocal harmonies backed by longtime bassist Troy Bleich and newer recruits Bryan James Newbury (drums) and Matt Cuthberston (guitars, also of Untimely Demise). The album was co-produced, mixed and mastered by former guitarist Justin Bender, while longtime artist Mattias Noren (Evergrey, Epica, Kamelot) designed the cover and layout.

Says founding guitarist Tim Roth, “First of all, INTO ETERNITY would like to thank all of our fans for the support regarding this new album we’re about to release. The original plan was to release it independently ourselves, but the plan has changed. We are pumped to announce that we are now releasing ‘The Sirens’ worldwide through M-Theory Audio! Thanks go out to Marco for reaching out to us and providing us a new deal that we simply could not refuse. INTO ETERNITY worked for years and years with Marco when he was president of Century Media, so for us this is a perfect fit for our band. Unfortunately, this does mean that we will be pushing back our release date until October, as our new label is going to need some time to manufacture and properly promote the release. Thanks again to everyone for the longtime support, and you’ll all be hearing ‘The Sirens’ in the coming months!”

From 2005 to 2008, there wasn’t a harder-working metal band on the planet than INTO ETERNITY, whose extreme progressive metal built on the pioneering work of such forward-thinking acts as Death, Cynic and Opeth. The group toured seemingly nonstop with the likes of Dream Theater, Symphony X, Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted, Kataklysm and Hate Eternal, and also joined the epic lineup of Megadeth, Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy and Overkill on the 2006 edition of Gigantour.

In 2008, the group released their fifth record, the concept album “The Incurable Tragedy,” and prepared for another busy touring cycle, which began with a vengeance on that year’s Summer Slaughter Canada (where the band played alongside Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Veil of Maya, Whitechapel and others). From there, the group hit the road in support of Iced Earth, after which they planned to take a short break to recover from four years of road work.

Soon after Roth returned home to Regina, Saskatchewan, however, he became a first-time father, and it soon became clear that touring as aggressively wouldn’t be possible. The group still performed periodically in subsequent months, even traveling to Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the spring of 2009, but as the band considered their next moves after the end of the “Incurable Tragedy” touring cycle, vocalist Stu Block was asked to join Iced Earth.

At first, he planned to perform double-duty, and in 2011, INTO ETERNITY recorded two digital singles featuring Block. It quickly became apparent, though, that Iced Earth’s touring commitments would keep Block on the road indefinitely, so in 2012, Roth recruited the Edmonton-based singer Amanda Kiernan (also of The Order of Chaos) to become INTO ETERNITY‘s new vocalist. The group subsequently began demoing material for a new album, which they would record gradually over the next few years.

This weekend, INTO ETERNITY will join Fit For An Autopsy and Archspire as co-headliners of the Loud As Hell festival in Drumheller, Alberta on August 5th. For more info visit www.LoudAsHell.com. Additional tour dates are in the works.

“Into Eternity has been a staple of Saskatchewan’s heavy metal scene for 21 years. The group has had several lineup changes over that time, but the music has always been thrilling, pushing the limits of the local scene with their highly technical style and international success.” – Regina Leader Post

“This is one special band that has worked hard for its success.” – Blabbermouth

“One of the brightest stars on the progressive extreme metal landscape.” – Sea of Tranquility

“I praise lots of bands and albums, many of which probably more so than they truly deserve – what can I say? I tend to be an overly enthusiastic metal head. Though if there is one band that deserves every ounce of praise I heap upon them album after album, it’s Regina, Canada’s Into Eternity.” – Teeth of The Divine

“a vicious slice of the extreme progressive style…Roth’s technical brilliance shines above all else, as the twisting harmonies whirl around the listener’s head atop the blistering percussion.”  – Exclaim! (Review The Incurable Tragedy 2008)

“Into Eternity’s The Incurable Tragedy, an album that manages to be so credibly metal, yet so vastly accessible, that there’s something for everyone. ” – Metal Sucks (Review The Incurable Tragedy 2008)

“Into Eternity has managed to succeed on every level with THE INCURABLE TRAGEDY. They have provided a conceptual piece in which the individual songs stand on their own, and also work together to create a greater whole. The band has toured with many of the masters, and has clearly benefited from this. The result is the band’s most mature and concise sounding record to date. They have produced an album that will be sure to please die hard devotees to many of the different genres of metal.” – Metal Rules (Review The Incurable Tragedy 2008)

Montreal, QC – July 31, 2018

For Fans of Delain, Amaranthe, Trees of Eternity, Evanescence, Tristania, Lacuna Coil

Quebec’s EMPRESS Premiere Lyric Video “Crawl”

Powerful atmosphere and soaring vocals: Quebec’s EMPRESS is quickly becoming a new standard in female-fronted metal. Mixing heavy, modern melodies with authentic, relatable lyrics, EMPRESS combines Eddy Levitsky’s (Hollow) original music with Karina Charbonnier’s unique vocal talent to create a distinctive approach to melodic metal.

Spearheaded by the desire of the imperious Karina Charbonnier to write her own music and lyrics along with her powerful, melancholic soprano voice, EMPRESS was brought to life by working with celebrated guest talents from the Quebec metal scene such as Tommy Mckinnon (ex-Augury), Fred Riverin (I Legion), and Sebastien Ladouceur (Our Darkest Days).

Mostly an online project, EMPRESS’ focus is sharing their love of making music with the world. Their second single “Crawl” is now ready to be revealed to follow their 2017 debut track “Your Prize” (available for free download here). “Crawl” is a track that has post-rock influences and a solid metal foundation to be catchy, heavy and ethereal. The song combines Karina Charbonnier’s powerful vocals with modern guitar work and even a touch of progressive elements to create a well-rounded, original song that is sure to please any fan of melodic metal.

Karina comments:

“Crawl is for those who go through hard times and are searching for a way to regain strength. So basically, this song touches everyone, we all go through rough patches at different times in our life! I hope that Crawl makes people realize that they’re not alone, that it motivates them to first accept their difficulties and then, help overcome them.”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 31, 2018

For fans of Motorhead mixed with Dissection

WARCALL Announce “On Board Eastern Canadian Tour” w/ France’s Through The Dusk

New Album Out “Invaders” via Plan B Music

L-R: Phil – Drums, Mat – Guitars, Gord – Vocals and Bass

In fall 2017, Canadian thrashers WARCALL unleashed their latest album “Invaders” plus toured across Europe during the month of October sharing the stage with many bands. Now it’s time to return the favour and bring one of those bands over the Atlantic to perform across Eastern Canada with them. Hitting the road from October 4th to 13th, WARCALL along with France’s Through The Dusk will perform dates in Quebec,  New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (dates listed below).

The band comments:

“We are very proud to finally be able to do a Canadian tour in 2018 in support of our album “Invaders” album. It is the first time we will be touring our own country since 2011 so it is long overdue! We will be focusing on the Eastern part of the country and playing a very special set list covering our entire catalog plus a few surprises. For that trip, we will be taking with us our friends Through The Dusk from France. We met them on our 2015 European tour and have been working with them since to bring them over here. The tour kicks off in Sainte Thérèse on October 4th and will include our annual Montreal show at Petit Campus on October 5th. The trek will end in Moncton on the 13th. Cheers and beers to be expected!”

WARCALL is inspired by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Dissection and Slayer, their music is fast, aggressive, melodic and dramatic. Unleashing three well-received albums under their bullet-belts (‘Demonarchy’, ‘Blood, Guts and Dirt’, ‘III’), their latest “Invaders” is a concept release based on humans fighting back an alien invasion with a message of fighting oppression, resisting, re-conquering, but without knowing if it is really over.

“Big things are happening for Montreal’s WarCall…Motor-Maiden-‘tallica brand of street wise thrash…” – Decibel Mag

“Actually, “very very heavy” doesn’t go far enough. “Bully Bastard” slugs had enough to loosen teeth and leave bruises, and the grooves are damned compulsive, too, so loosen up your neck muscles before diving into this track. But while the song rocks hard enough to shake listeners like rag dolls, the music also channels rage and intensity through the raw grit of the vocals and the grim (but very catchy) vehemence of the riffs.” – No Clean Singing

“Fans of an old school thrash/speed sound will find plenty to enjoy throughout Invaders. 10 tracks of meaty metal that makes you want to dig out the old patch jacket & head-bang until your neck fuses.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“If you enjoy old school thrash, early speedy rock ‘n’ metal MOTÖRHEAD or DARKTHRONE in their thrashy black metal/crusty punk phase then WARCALL will wet your appetite and get you salivating! Dig out your battle vest, your white washed denim jeans and white trainers and bang that head furiously!” – All About The Rock

“il est impératif que les amateurs de thrash québécois découvrent cet autre petit trésor bien de chez nous.” – Musik Universe

“Like a black metal Motorhead or the mutant offspring of New Wave of British Heavy Metal legends Tank, WarCall really live up to their name! Indeed the comparisons with Motorhead and Tank are apt as WarCall are a strong power trio. On this, their fourth album (following ‘Demonarchy’, ‘Blood, Guts and Dirt’, and ‘III’), they show themselves to be very much a 21st century band, with a strong groove in their music.” – Hellbound

New Brunswick’s ECMA and Music NB award winning mantra doom duo ZAUM are sharing with fans their new music video for “The Enlightenment” premiered via InvisibleOranges.com. The track is off ZAUM‘s second full length “Eidolon” released in 2016 via I HATE Records with distribution via Plastic Head/Sony Music throughout Europe and Century Media in North America to follow their 2014 debut album “Oracles”.

Watch “The Enlightenment” at the following link: http://www.invisibleoranges.com/zaum-the-enlightenment/

ZAUM‘s Kyle Alexander McDonald  (Bass/Vocals/Synth/Textures) comments:

“Being that I’m a giant fan of the work of Seth Smith and Nancy Urich (of CUT/OFF/TAIL) due to their unique and unconventional approach to filmmaking – I felt Seth’s David Lynch-esque perspective could be a bizarre yet intriguing take on “The Enlightenment” for people to consider.  Their work (like our music) inspires and encourages thought rather than providing literal answers.  I’m thrilled with the result and hope people open their minds to the layers of potential reality.”

In their three years as an active touring band ZAUM have amassed 200+ shows (mainly international) under their belts including support stints for Voivod, Pentagram, and Cauldron. The duo recently announced they will be embarking on Canadian dates in Ontario and Quebec (dates listed below) with support from Sweden’s FIREBREATHERwhom the band toured Europe with last year (watch their music video “Release The Lava” here.)

ZAUM‘s Kyle Alexander McDonald comments:

“We’re floored to have FIREBREATHER join us for this Canadian tour, much of which was a makeup for the cities we missed last summer. We toured three weeks across Europe with the 3-piece Swedish stoner doom band and are very close with them both personally and also intertwined with them lore wise within ZAUM. Their lead vocalist Mattias sang a part on our last album and will be performing that live with us here in Canada for the first time. Our intentions are to head directly into the studio afterwards and finish album #3 with a 2019 release in mind.”

Making an impact on the Canadian’s 80s thrash scene, Ottawa legends INFRARED returned this year to cement and carry on their own legacy with their new album “Saviours” featuring all new music to follow their EP “No Peace”, which featured tracks all written in the 80’s and only recently heard by fans in 2016. Featuring eight brand new tracks, “Saviours” is thrashy, aggressive, melodic, heavy, and tight, which is clearly evident in the band’s new video “Father of Lies” being premiered on Decibel Magazine.

Vocalist Armin Kamal comments on the track:

“Father of Lies – Is the most layered song on Infrared’s “Saviours” album. It’s first three verses are pulled directly from the Bible which describes the Father of Lies (Satan), but the song moves to show the abuses of power from the clergy against its own practitioners, mainly children, in such an evil manner that it is clear they are no better than the father of lies they preach against. So here we have a group of people portraying themselves as saviours all while living complete lies and spewing lies in an effort to conceal and satisfy their sick desires.”

Check out the new video “Father of Lies” – https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2018/07/27/video-premiere-infrared-father-of-lies/

Kamal also adds about the new album:

“Infrared is extremely excited to release our sophomore album “Saviours”. This has been in the works for about 2 years now and is something we are very proud of. “Saviours” has fulfilled a goal of ours to create some brand new music the way we know how, with an old school 80s thrash feel along with a contemporary sound that encompasses our influences beyond the 80s.

While not explicitly a concept album, the album is heavily themed on the idea of false “Saviours” who claim to do good for others but are really self serving in their intentions. We like to inspire independent thought and a cautious view of the intentions of those who promote themselves as leaders. This message has been captured with 8 brand new songs that highlight the diversity in which this band makes music. While all songs stay true to our roots, they each offer a piece of what Infrared has to offer our fans. From fast and thrashy to melodic and dramatic, “Saviours” delivers a punch from start to finish.”

“Saviours” is available for download and stream on InfraredMetal.ca, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Bandcamp, CD Baby and all other major online retailers.

“I can happily say that if you’re a fan of that classic balls to the wall thrash metal sound then you will most certainly get a kick out of Infrared’s “Saviours”… a prime example of what thrash metal is and what it should always be. These Canadian thrashers have stayed true to the sounds they knew when they were in their earlier years and have bought that sound back to the modern era.”  – Overdrive Music Magazine

“a savage and brutal journey of eighties inspired thrash metal, laden with heaviness and menace, heads will be banging hard from start to finish.” – Metal Gods TV

“Their new album Saviours is a thrash party from beginning to end.” – Rock Portaal

“These guys play a heavy/thrash hybrid that’s highly melodic and at times is so damn catchy, some of the songs just stick in your head after the first listen. ” – The Metal Crypt

“If you have dreamed of a cross between Annihilator and Vio-Lence then this might very well be the album for you. It is both melodic as well as aggressive with a just enough dose of technical tomfoolery.” – Battlehelm
