STRIKER Are ‘On The Run’ With New Music Video + ‘Summer of Shred’ North American Tour Dates

Sixth Studio Album “Play To Win” Out Now!

As STRIKER continue their ‘Summer of Shred’ tour across North America that recently wrapped up its first leg with DEATH ANGEL earlier this May, the Canadian masters continue their road adventures with upcoming dates in Canada and USA with ANVIL, STEEL PANTHER, HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER (all dates listed below). And before they continue being ‘On The Run’ hitting cities across the continent, the band is excited to reveal their new music video in support of their latest sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.

The band explains the video:

“As an independent band we are constantly pushing ourselves to be better an go farther, ‘On The Run’ is about just that, always moving forward with everything in your life. With this video, we took on some new challenges with our director Lindsay Robinson in programming our own light show and making all of the visual effects ourselves with very minimal computer graphics. We love how it turned out and we are excited to share it. Shred!”

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER‘s sixth studio album “Play To Win” features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

Album CD order, stream and download available on www.Striker-Metal.com, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.Music Video – “Head First” can be viewed here.Lyric video – “Heart of Lies” can be viewed here.

“Play to Win, which might be their most balanced effort yet. It’s their most catchy, too: the likelihood you’ll be singing along with every song before they finish is very, very high.” – Metal Sucks

“expertly combined killer arena rock choruses with well-done, cleaner verses.” – Metal Injection

“Six albums in six years. That is something almost unheard of, even in the modern era of production that considerably lessens the time needed to record and mix albums. Striker always seems to provide a new album right around when I start to wonder, “Hey, I wonder what Striker is up to?”. PLAY TO WIN is the band’s 6th LP and to my ears, one of their best. Rest assured, the band has not altered their sound. This is still classic metal, mixed with modern elements that continues to leave all pretenders in a cloud of choking dust.” – Metal Rules

“You can hear influences ranging from Dokken to Metallica on Play to Win, and it’s all done with masterful songwriting, performances and production. This is a slick, aggressively-mixed record that drips with excitement and replayability… Striker have produced their best record since City of Gold, and all fans of straight-up hard rock and metal need to own this album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Striker have knocked this one out of the park and into the stratosphere. You’d be hard-pressed to find a catchier slice of fine cheddar this year, and I’d highly recommend it.” – New Noise Mag

Montreal, QC – May 30, 2019

Montreal’s THRASH LA REINE will be releasing their second EP “La Foi, La Loi, La Croix” to the world on May 31, 2019.

With the spirit of both thrash and power metal, THRASH LA REINE, who describe themselves as ‘Francophone satirical epic thrash’ create music as they feel it and leave it up to the audience to decide where they really fit in. The exclusive French-language album follows the band’s 2017 EP “Le Metal Est Notre Langue”. The band hints at what the new release entails:

“We do not reinvent anything, but at the same time, we think we offer something that sounds new and refreshing. We want to share Montreal’s culture by making music in French, but we believe this music can be accessible and interesting to everybody around the world.”

Incorporating musical influences from the likes of Metallica, Judas Priest, and Megadeth, they take lyrical inspiration from current events and real life.

Teaming up with Metal-Rules.com, the trio is premiering the EP’s full stream at the following link: https://www.metal-rules.com/2019/05/30/montreals-thrash-la-reine-premiere-ep-streamla-foi-la-loi-la-croix/

The band adds:

“The album title “La Foi, La Loi, La Croix’’, in English translation means ‘The Faith, The Law, The Cross’’. We chose this title as these three symbols reflects the themes that are present in our album. On the album cover, we see three characters a Machiavellian priest, an evil queen and a corrupted politician’’ in front of our hometown of Montreal. They symbolize, in a caricatured way, the pillars of our Western society and its own decline.”

“La Foi, La Loi, La Croix” will be released on May 31, 2019, and will be available Bandcamp and available on Spotify, iTunes.

BIO:

Thrash La Reine is a Montreal-based French heavy metal trio founded in 2017. In their music, they comprise styles of their main influences of thrash and power metal as well as paying homage to their home city and the francophone punk bands that were notorious in the Montreal scene during their college years. In each song, they mix the epic themes of power metal with the social topics of punk and thrash metal to make a style that they dubbed ‘’Epic Thrash’’.

In 2017, in their home studio, they recorded a first EP called ‘’Le Metal Est Notre Langue’’. Since then, they have opened for artists such as Judas Priestess (US) and Tim Ripper Owen (US). In 2018, a second EP ‘’La Foi, La Loi, La Croix’’ was recorded. The recording and mixing were done at Studio Wild with Pierre Rémillard (Anonymus, Cryptopsy) and mastered in the summer by Jacob Hansen in Denmark. The EP is now ready to hit mosh pits around the world with a release date on May 31, 2019.

BIO:

In the wilderness of Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada, with a fascination for astronomy, Kevin Thiessen (guitar), Daniel Airth (guitar), Colin Righton (percussion), and Ferdy Belland (bass) united to create the interplanetary, instrumental prog metal that would come to be known as Phaeton.

Since 2017, they have been working quickly as a collaborative unit, honing their skills and orchestrating an attention-focused listening experience. One drenched in joy and wonder and the emotional, visceral release that only prog-metal can deliver. And the lack of lyrical interference only allows the listener the better opportunity to let their imaginations run wild with the music, drifting emotionally away on the solar winds to wherever they wish to soar.

Phaeton can be experienced with the release of the self-titled debut album out now as of December 21, 2018.

Calgary’s CONCRETE FUNERAL have been bashing their way into the ears of metal lovers in the local underground scene since 2015 and now they are bringing their debut album “Ultimum Judicium” to the masses this week on Friday, May 31st, 2019.

Just before the album officially is released, the heavy groove thrashers have teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the premiere of its full stream.

The band adds:

“Each song is its own tale. We bring an audio shitkicking with personality, off colour humour and maybe borderline questionable commentary. We wanna get people laughing, moshing and just having an all-out party. It’s straight forward, groovy death thrash that does contain elements of black metal and punk as well and we think a lot of people can get down on that. We’re really hoping to draw some fans across Canada and beyond with this record. We have a no bullshit approach to music so those that like it straight up heavy, no cleans should really dig it. And to add, we had the cover done in the style of a graphic novel to paint a picture of who we are and our sound. ”

Listen to “Ultimum Judicium” at the following link: https://www.metalinsider.net/new-music/album-premiere-concrete-funeral-ultimum-judicium

Those looking for the latest auditory mayhem, especially with an interest in Exodus, Death, and Lamb of God need to look no further as this face punching death/thrash metal assault will be available on May 31, 2019.

Album pre-order is available on Bandcamp.

About:

Concrete Funeral is a no-holds-barred contingent of death/thrash from Calgary, Alberta that has done much to project themselves to the forefront of their local music scene since 2015. Known for packing venues and festivals while bringing a heavy and powerful presence to the stage, Concrete Funeral has had the privilege to play with bands such as Archspire, Battlecross, Disciples of Power, Kataklysm, and Toxic Holocaust.

Incorporating a vast variety of influences with some of the more prominent being Warbringer, Zakk Wylde, and Onslaught, and Hypocrisy, Concrete Funeral produces a sound in the veins of Death, Exodus and Lamb of God. Citing references like Hobo With A Shotgun; the band embraces over the top comedic horror and frequently embellishes their metal with those themes. Concrete Funeral is comprised of four talented musicians from Alberta that collectively have decades of experience behind them. In May 2019, they will be by releasing their debut album “Ultimum Judicium” with plans for future touring within Canada.

– 30 –

“There’s plenty of unbridled rage and high-octane energy in this mad romp (“Carnival of Contradictions“) , with riffing that alternately pulsates, swirls, scissors, and slashes, tempos that turn on a dime, explosive drum work that will give your skull a solid battering, and vocals that veer from a guttural growl to a maniac shriek in the blink of an eye. It’s a riotous assault, but holds a few eye-opening surprises, including a hell of a guitar solo when the rampage briefly abates. But mainly, this is the kind of track that’s calculated to flood your body with adrenaline and get your blood rushing through the veins, and it reaches a crescendo of ferocious lunacy at the end. ” – No Clean Singing

“”Concrete Funeral , let’s face it, you can’t pass by a chance to listen to a band with a name like that, it just sounds… so Metal!! So if you like your Metal with that added ‘Thrash-tastic’ edge you won’t be too disappointed with their debut release “Ultimum Judicium” , it’s thrashy to the core but with a pinch of Death Metal, think Exodus, Death, Lamb of God and you’ll be in the right ballpark.” – The Metal Wanderlust

“Pay attention death/thrash fans! Soon a very promising debut album will be released by a Canadian band operating in this subgenre of metal… what makes Ultimum Judicium a very strong debut is that it shows what Concrete Funeral is capable of: playing some very well-done death/thrash metal that pounds nicely, but with mixing in quite some variation. Ultimum Judicium for sure promises very much for the future of Concrete Funeral. This is a band that probably could be a pretty big name in death/thrash metal within a few years. Recommended for sure!” – Dutch Metal Maniac

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 28, 2019

For fans of Pink Floyd meets Black Sabbath meets Mayhem

WYKAN Premieres ‘Imbolc (The Cleansing)’ Off Upcoming EP “Brigid: Of The Night” Out June 2019

Founded in 2017 by guitarist Jeremy Perkins, Montreal’s WYKAN plays a blend of psychedelic doom, heavy blues, stoner rock and black metal in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar. Their experimental and massive sounding music is best described as Pink Floyd meeting Black Sabbath meeting Mayhem for those who have never heard the band.

Set to release their sophomore EP “Brigid: Of The Night” on June 7, 2019, to follow their 2018 debut EP “Solace”, WYKAN is premiering their second single ‘Imbolc (The Cleansing)’ via DoomedandStoned.com at the following link here.

“We want to give fans a trip for the mind, without barriers and hooks, just plain vibes and atmosphere. This next EP, overall, is more of the classic riffing which goes with each genre I touch and blend in each of the songs. As a thematic “Brigid: Of The Night” is about the Celtic Goddess known as Brigid. The whole EP’s thematic and three songs are a historical take on the cultural ceremonies & festivities in Ode to Brigid. Also one will find that the lyrics are based on the deities representation and relationship held strong between  the Celtic life of pre-Christian Ireland and Brigid.” says Perkins

The band’s line up for the EP features guest drummer Simon McKay of The Agonist rattling his talents on track #3 Reul-Iuil Bride (Star of Brigid) along WYKAN and EOHUM founder Jeremy Perkins on guitar, vocalist Barrie Butler (Eohum, ex-Tard), bassist Corey Thomas, best known for his own Jazz ensemble Backwater Township and drummer Dug Kawliss (ex-Tempete) who is on tracks #1 Imbolc (The Cleansing) and #2 Breo-Saighead (Triple Goddess).

“Brigid: Of The Night” also follows the band’s plan of releasing an EP every six to ten months and keep fans on a ceremonial run of emotion and space.

The EP will be available on Bandcamp as a $1 EP or more Pay-What-You-Want download.

Track Listing:
1. Imbolc (The Cleansing) (7:30)

“Montreal riff metallers Wykan make their debut April 13 with the SolaceEP. It is not intended for background listening. Even at three tracks/24 minutes, it’s not the kind of thing you “just put on” while you’re picking up around the house or working or whatever you might be doing. It demands attention and demands it early.” – The Obelisk (Review – Solace EP 2018)

““The Gathering” is an undeniably intense song that passes through changing shades of mystery, tension, torment, and gloom. The stage is set through a slow, reverberating guitar melody, whose ringing tones create a mystical aura, and by a solemn, heavy riff that itself has an otherworldly cast. The increasingly acrobatic drumming and the vibrancy of the throbbing bass drive the energy of the song higher, as does the swirling lead, which creates a feeling of growing disquiet and pain, made even more distraught by the vocal combination of acidic rasping shrieks and harsh roars.” – No Clean Singing (Review – Solace EP 2018)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 28, 2019

For fans of Nightwish, Delain

Symphonic Metal DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS To Release New Album ‘Reflections Of A Nightmare’

Out June 28th via Rockshots Records

Rockshots Records their latest signing of Swiss symphonic metallers DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS for the release of their album “Reflections of A Nightmare”due out on June 28th.

Featuring musicians from Majesty Of Silence, Rainforce, Proxima, the foursome known as DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS consists Seraina Schoepfer (lead vocals), Chris Geissmann (guitar, vocals), Jan Thomas (bass) and Franc Fritschi (drums) hailing from the small Swiss town of Wangen bei Olten somewhere between Basel, Berne and Zurich. The band’s musical stylings have been compared to popular acts such as Nightwish and Delain. However, DREAMS IN FRAGMENTS have no reason to present themselves as a cover band of any of the greats; Seraina’s voice, operatic yet light as a feather, combined with Chris’ growls sets the band apart in the same way the union of hard guitar riffs and dreamy orchestrations does. It is only fitting that their set list is built around the band’s own compositions such as ‘The Maze’ and ‘Nightchild’.

Lyric Video – ‘Nightchild’ – https://youtu.be/r-Gd-Juk_Tc

In June 2019, the band will hit the road for an Eastern European tour as a support act with fellow Swiss friends symphonic dark metal group FORGE for their “Heimdall Tour 2019” in Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.

One band to rule them all! This past Saturday, May 25th, America’s top five unsigned bands from across the country shared the stage in Los Angeles, CA at The Viper Room for the national final of Wacken Metal Battle USA. The night was filled with brutality, debauchery and pure musicianship among them all. Battling the night away, the final featured Dissentience (Winners, East Coast), Monarch (Winners, West Coast), Nahaya (Winners, Texas), Toxic Ruin (Winners, Chicago), Violence System (Winners, Atlanta) whom were selected from over a hundred bands that participated in this year’s 2019 battles held in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

Judged by a panel of metal industry that consisted of Alex Distefano (LA Weekly), Marco Barbieri (M-Theory Audio) and DJ Will (KNAC.COM), only one band could be selected to represent the nation at this year’s international Wacken Battle at the 30th edition of Wacken Open Air. The battle has been part of the festival since 2004 and has had over 40 countries participate since its inception. This year’s American champion crowned to represent the nation is San Diego thrashers MONARCH. They will be joining metal bands from 29 other countries battling it out from July 31st to August 2nd for one to conquer them all. The top 5 bands will be rewarded with material and cash prizes.

The band comments:

“Without a doubt, this has been a journey for the Monarch camp and everyone involved. We are beyond thrilled to have won Wacken Metal Battle USA in 2019 to represent the United States of America! We have put 15 years of our blood, sweat, and tears into this band to make it what it is today. And we know that every band up until this moment have done the same. We would like to thank the fans for always being there and believing in what we do. We wouldn’t be here without the fans. To Eric Dow to have taken it upon himself to even have this opportunity, to begin with, and to the Brick by Brick, Viper Room, Andrew Bansal of Metal Assault for helping make this a reality for us and Jon Asher of Asher Media Relations for all his help with all the battles. We can’t imagine how hard it was for the judges to make a decision every time one of these epic battles went down and to them, we have much respect.

Best believe that Monarch will be bringing the fire and metal from the United States to Wacken to show them what the USA metal scene has got. And we will be going as hard as we can to show the metal heads attending that we want to win this one! We are forever humbled to have gotten this far and now it’s time to strategize our victory in Germany.

Big Thanks to everyone involved that put together such an amazing year of metal! – Monarch”

Montreal, QC – May 27, 2019

Croatian Black Metal TRYGLAV Unleashes ‘Evil Dead’ Inspired Lyric Video

New Album ‘Night of Whispering Souls’ Out May 31st via Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records

Tryglav, the one man black metal band from Croatia has released a new lyric video for the single ‘Evil Dead’, a track inspired by the movie of the same title. The song is off the forthcoming debut album “Night of Whispering Souls” that will be unveiled on May 31, 2019, via Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records.

TRYGLAV explains:

“Here is another song that I wrote for one of my previous bands. When I wrote this song, I was inspired by the “Evil Dead” movie. I think that the guitar, drums, and vocals are combined perfectly! It’s a personal favourite, I especially love the riffs for this track. Pure horror black metal! “

Check out ‘Evil Dead’ at the following link here.

The solo act known as TRYGLAV comes from the dark mind of Boris Behara, who was looking to express his vision in his own way and have full control over the music.

Tryglav is a god in Slavic mythology that represents the sky, the earth, and the afterlife. Channeling this power since 2018, Behara creates melodic, aggressive classic black metal with 80’s horror imaginary that is suitable for all fans of the genre looking for something fresh to bang their heads to.

The new album is the perfect combination of velocity and melody, some tracks are fast and brutal and others are melodic with catchy choruses that are easy to pick up during the first listen.

The album will be released through Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records on May 31, 2019.

Album pre-order available here.

Track Listing:
1. Under My Skin
2. Night of Whispering Souls
3. Deadline
4. Evil Dead
5. Creature of The Night

Bio:

Tryglav is a Croatian one-man band formed in 2018 by Boris Behara. Tired of playing with people who didn’t have his same vision in music, at the beginning of 2018, he started with the idea to create his own band inspired by his love in black metal and horror imaginary. During the year 2018, seven songs have been composed and re-arranged in his personal studio many times before the final versions come out.

Due to the poor equipment for vocal recording, vocals had been entrusted to a singer called Morbid according to Behara’s lyrics and patterns. For the live shows and future records, vocals will be recorded by Behara. The idea for the plague doctors came out one day, when he thought how to create an impact imagine for the live shows.

In the year 2019, the album has been finished and the search for a studio for mixing and mastering had started. After many considerations, the studio was chosen, and the album was sent to Emissary Studios in Australia.

The album was sent then to some labels and after many considerations, Tryglav signed a worldwide deal with Italian label Extreme Metal Music/Rockshots Records.
