Dizzy Mystics Soup for the Rocker’s Soul;
2 cups Psychedelic
2 cups Progressive
1 cup Hearty 70’s Metal
3 tbsp. Jazz
3 tbsp. Funk
2 tbsp. Folk
1 tbsp. Soul
A pinch of Celtic Pepper is optional

(Measurements of each ingredient are subject to change for each batch made)

As the recipe implies, rock music is the spoon that stirs the soup, and no genre (or spice) is out of the question for Dizzy Mystics. Climbing out the stock pot in 2015, Dizzy Mystics are a psychedelic rock band based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. One can expect a dynamically diverse, tastefully complex, and energetic dose of adventurous hard rock with feet moving rhythmic swagger, and stargazing melodies.

– 30 –

“It is clear that Dizzy Mystics may be among the most unique of the vibrant Canadian rock scene to be delivering tracks that will leave fans of classic, progressive, and 90’s alternative rock excited for what is to come.” – Canadian Beats

“Mysticism aside, this band certainly got the “dizzy” part right! The Winnipeg rock quartet Dizzy Mystics offer up a staggering musical concoction that, considering its progressive and experimental flair, is surprisingly radio-ready. Think Rush and Primus drinking wine with Tool before dropping acid with Frank Zappa and checking out a jazz club with Steely Dan. Dizzying, right? Jokes aside, frontman Kyle Halldorson, guitarist Alexandre Joyal, drummer Jeffrey Laird and bassist Aaron Bacon have some serious chops and, with the right amount of work, gigging and outside help, this Canadian act has the potential to not only see the end of the tarmac, but to also take off!” – PureGrainAudio

“Diamond Duller moves and groves, in interesting rhythms, changing from one beat to another, shifting and clanging with energy. The vocals bring about high energy and ensure the listener is hooked from the get go.” – The Median Man

“The quartet has crafted a psychedelic and progressive sound upon many others including melodic hard rock and funk.  The band takes you through a heavy and psychedelic trip on their latest single.” – Technical Music Review

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 1, 2019

For fans of Marty Friedman, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Tony MacAlpine

Guitarist Frankie C. (Vesperia) Unleashes His Next Shredding Playthrough “Cellular Damascus”

Debut EP “Cellular Damascus” Out Now!

Frankie C., known for his guitar work in Canadian symphonic death metal band Vesperia recently released his side project entitled “Cellular Damascus” this past March. An instrumental solo project that came to light after he was crowned champion of season one of “Shredders of Metal” presented by Banger TV. The EP is technical, groovy and energetic, and lets the listener focus on the guitar work that he takes great pride in orchestrating.

Posting his next playthrough video for his EP’s title track “Cellular Damascus“, Frankie C. comments:

“‘Cellular Damascus’ is the title track of the EP. I’m pretty sure this song took me the longest to write and definitely has the most changes/parts. This song is a lot of fun to play but a damn hard one to remember! Riddled with intervallic arpeggio sections, fast alternate picking runs, and tasty melodic lines.”

Watch “Cellular Damascus” at the following link https://youtu.be/aCocz8CQCso

Previous playthrough “Fall of The Hammer” at the following link: https://youtu.be/ScxRxFp-QUs

Frankie C. adds:

“I want fans to have fun listening to ‘Cellular Damascus’. I wanted to create interesting melodic phrases, but still have heavy riffs to headbang along with, shred hard, but not lose sight of the music and try to have a clear mix where things aren’t overly processed but all instruments/parts are still clear and audible.”

All four tracks on this debut flow together and show off excellent musicianship. Excited to be focusing on more solo work in the future, Frankie C. has confirmed another release in the future.

“Cellular Damascus” is now out as of March 13, 2019, and available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube, iTunes.

Track Listing:
1. So It Begins (1:06)
2. Fall Of The Hammer (2:55)
3. Cellular Damascus (3:14)
4. Life By Fire (3:19)

Bio:

Cellular Damascus is the instrumental solo project from Vesperia’s Frankie Caracci. Looking to try something new and forge his wide array of influences together to make something that is uniquely his own.

The first release, the self-titled EP (2019), introduces fans to the melodic and technical headbanging music on which Caracci solely wrote, performed and produced. Influenced but guitar mavericks such as Jeff Loomis, Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, and Michael Romeo and genres such as modern and classic heavy metal thrash, prog and death metal there is an assortment of features in each track that keep the listener on their toes and attentive to the music.

“Get down with the neck-snapping “Wings of Death.” It’s a Canuck groove-metal gem.” – Dead Rhetoric

“This is not a one-dimensional album that’s easily described. Each song has its own style and flavour, mixing different styles together with well-deserved contempt for genre restrictions and constraints. Centuries of Decay have crafted a modern extreme metal release that effectively combines these different strains of metal into something all of their own.” – Wonderbox Metal

“A concept record regarding the changing times & how life depends on centuries of decay, the ten minute self-titled opening song showcases melodic metal with deep oceans of imagination. Haunting but with a real sense of beauty, the guitar melody alongside a fascinating drum beat is such an appealing sound. A sound that suddenly takes on a darker tone, upping the heaviness & dealing out an absolutely stunning chugging guitar attack. There is no arguing with that start, absolutely mesmerizing.” –  Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“This is a strong debut for the band and they have laid their vision for their craft nicely.” – Metal-Temple

“Up next was Centuries Of Decay, who gave us some atmospheric death metal. Devin Doucette and Rob McAllister shared guitar and vocal duties. Devin sang lead and handled a chunk of the brutal vocals but they gave a few great harmonized melodic vocals. Their last song had an additive time signature, which is something that really catches my attention as a musician.” – Metal Master Kingdom (Live Review Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2016 – Toronto)

BIO:

In the wilderness of Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada, with a fascination for astronomy, Kevin Thiessen (guitar), Daniel Airth (guitar), Colin Righton (percussion), and Ferdy Belland (bass) united to create the interplanetary, instrumental prog metal that would come to be known as Phaeton.

Since 2017, they have been working quickly as a collaborative unit, honing their skills and orchestrating an attention-focused listening experience. One drenched in joy and wonder and the emotional, visceral release that only prog-metal can deliver. And the lack of lyrical interference only allows the listener the better opportunity to let their imaginations run wild with the music, drifting emotionally away on the solar winds to wherever they wish to soar.

Phaeton can be experienced with the release of the self-titled debut album out now as of December 21, 2018.

“Top-tier instrumental prog-metal-math music from the East Kootenay region performed by a quartet of veteran musicians.” – Stuart Derdeyn (The Vancouver Sun)

“The sound on all seven tracks is huge and if there was a “best sounding hammer-ons” award then March of the Synthetics could be a contender.” – Stuart Derdeyn (The Vancouver Sun)

“An epic Progressive Metal listening experience.”  – Trevor Hatter (BeatRoute Magazine)

“This badass band makes a devastating impact with their high velocity musical assault.” – Time Lord (Progarchy)

“A sparkling, sizzling debut from PHAETON, taking us on a futuristic musical journey, with deep roots in the ancient past.” – Stephen Conrad (Progressive Rock Fanatics)

BIO:

Dizzy Mystics Soup for the Rocker’s Soul;

Calgary’s CONCRETE FUNERAL have been bashing their way into the ears of metal lovers in the local underground scene since 2015 and now they are bringing their debut album “Ultimum Judicium” to the masses this coming May 2019.

The first single from this pounding album is ‘Stabbed To Death’; the crux of this heavy and groovy album shows off the dirty work of this band of no-bullshit musicians. It is straight to the point in ferocity, climaxing with ruthless vocals and thick, punchy riffs. The band explains the lyrics and music behind the single:

“Straight up about hunting somebody down and playing with their insides just for the sheer pleasure of doing so, again very b movie inspired as you’ll see from the lyric video. Straight up thrash riffs in the vein of Exodus, meant to be a quick catchy single that sounds mean as the lyrics are.”

Since 1994, GHOULUNATICS have been ravaging the underground with their personal blend of metal and hardcore and have built a solid discography of releases since then. As of April 26th, they will have a new addition, their first in over 10 years, the new single “Move Along” that continues their hardcore ‘rotten roll’.

The band comments:

“We hope our fans will be excited to hear new music from us. It will be the first new recording since the album Cryogénie in 2006. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2019, so we wanted to celebrate with new tunes and go on the road more than we have these last couple of years. And let’s hope we can make new fans as well! Bring on the shows!! We’re back!”

Working collaboratively, Patrick Mireault (vocals); Patrick Gordon (guitar); Gary Lyons (bass); Francis Dubois (guitar) and Brian Craig (drums) meld punk, death metal and rock n’ roll together to form their signature diablerie. “Move Along” focuses on GHOULUNATICS’ hardcore influences, and while they aren’t taking a new step musically, they have chosen to let this particular influence take the reins.

GHOULUNATICS is sure to please anyone who appreciates a loud, explosive, rockin’ good time, especially those already interested in bands such as Entombed, Slayer, and Cancer Bats.

About:

The Montreal based band Ghoulunatics made its name thanks to their very energetic stage presence and its own artistic signature and composition methods, resulting in a unique musical footprint that distinguishes them from the masses.

From 1994 to 2008, Ghoulunatics traveled all over Quebec and Ontario relentlessly, always putting the pedal to the metal. They made their mark on the Quebec and Canadian metal and hardcore scenes, but also garnered attention abroad. In 2004, Ghoulunatics toured Germany for the album Sabacthany. In 2006, with the release of Cryogenie, they rocked France after being signed to the label Enraged Productions, home of well-known French bands like Tagada Jones and Lofofora, etc. After 15 years of Rotten Roll, Ghoulunatics split amicably in 2008, ending with a sold-out show at Foufounes Electriques in Montreal. The group came out of retirement in 2010 to headline a food drive event. They hit the stage again in 2012 for a show at Club Soda, and have since been playing 2-3 times a year since then for special events or festivals.

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the band as well as the return of Ghoulunatics! The group is currently working on new music for the first time since Cryogenics (2006) and will launch a single with the hopes of releasing an EP during the course of the year. Watch out! The ghouls are back!!

Sixth Studio Album “Play To Win” Out Now!

2019 is officially STRIKER‘s ‘Summer of Shred’ as they will hitting the road this summer for multiple North American tour dates with DEATH ANGEL, STEEL PANTHER, HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER. Their shredding adventures will begin in Oklahoma City, OK on May 14th for US dates with DEATH ANGEL followed by a headlining show for Calgary’s East Town Get Down Festival that includes Anvil. STRIKER will then support STEEL PANTHER for their Canadian dates from June 14th to June 25th and then kick off a short headlining tour from July 2nd to July 7th before joining HOLY GRAIL and BEWITCHER for the ‘Deadly Ripping North American Tour’, which will invade 21 cities in USA and Canada from from July 12th to August 4th. STRIKER is touring in support of their sixth studio album “Play To Win” released this past October via their independent label Record Breaking Records.

Champions in blending classic heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, Canadian shredders STRIKER‘s sixth studio album “Play To Win” features 10 fist pounding shredtacular anthems produced by the band plus mixed and mastered by Hendrik Udd (Firewind, Powerwolf, Hammerfall, Delain). The album follows their 2017 self-titled full length that the band supported with tours across Europe and North America with Sonata Arctica, Dark Tranquility, and Warbringer along with festival appearances at 70,000 Tons of Metal, Bang Your Head Festival (Germany) and more to add to their almost 1000 shows performed in their decade-plus career. That fifth studio album also garnered them a nomination from Canada’s JUNO awards, the country’s highest music prize, along with wins at the Edmonton Music Awards and Western Canadian Awards.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments on “Play To Win”:“Play to Win: if you want to win you have to play the game. Find the rules and break them. This is our 6th album and 3rd independent release. If we followed the rules and listened to the industry people we’d have gone absolutely nowhere. Play To Win is about listening to yourself, following your own path, and playing that 5th ace hidden in your sleeve. This album is designed to light a fire under your ass and get you moving, and we made sure to get the most modern, ear melting sounds possible. It’s all about where metal is going, not where it has been, and this is our soundtrack to success.”

Album CD order, stream and download available on www.Striker-Metal.com, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

“Play to Win, which might be their most balanced effort yet. It’s their most catchy, too: the likelihood you’ll be singing along with every song before they finish is very, very high.” – Metal Sucks

“expertly combined killer arena rock choruses with well-done, cleaner verses.” – Metal Injection

“Six albums in six years. That is something almost unheard of, even in the modern era of production that considerably lessens the time needed to record and mix albums. Striker always seems to provide a new album right around when I start to wonder, “Hey, I wonder what Striker is up to?”. PLAY TO WIN is the band’s 6th LP and to my ears, one of their best. Rest assured, the band has not altered their sound. This is still classic metal, mixed with modern elements that continues to leave all pretenders in a cloud of choking dust.” – Metal Rules

“You can hear influences ranging from Dokken to Metallica on Play to Win, and it’s all done with masterful songwriting, performances and production. This is a slick, aggressively-mixed record that drips with excitement and replayability… Striker have produced their best record since City of Gold, and all fans of straight-up hard rock and metal need to own this album.” – Heavy Music HQ

“Striker have knocked this one out of the park and into the stratosphere. You’d be hard-pressed to find a catchier slice of fine cheddar this year, and I’d highly recommend it.” – New Noise Mag
