With tickets selling fast and VIP tables sold out, this year’s Denver, CO’s Mile High Power Fest has a new addition to announce to their lineup, Seattle’s GREYHAWK to replace Canadian heavy metallers Lycanthro, who have unfortunately been forced to cancel their performance. GREYHAWK, with new singer Anthony Corso at the helm, is ready to bring the power with what will surely be their best performance at Mile High Power Fest! The Mile High Power Festival, Denver’s only power metal festival, was derived from the creative mind of Soren Bray. The idea was born after a night of celebration with his band, Celestial Wizard, while attending the HyperSpace Festival in Vancouver, Canada. It was then that Soren realized the U.S. had only a handful of power metal festivals—and none near his home in Denver. Partnering with Lucy, owner of Bitesize Productions LLC, Soren teamed up to turn this dream into a reality. Preceded by the singles “Seaweed Braids” and “Atlas”, the album marks a crucial step in the band’s evolution, both sonically and emotionally. With its unique blend of melodic death metal, distorted synths, and dual female vocals, “The Spectrum Of Human Gravity” takes listeners on an introspective journey through the fragmented and complex world of human emotions.

HELLFOX is an ALL FEMALE alternative metal (alt-metal) band with melodic death tendencies. Despite the four completely different musical backgrounds, we share a common inspiration to Amorphis, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity as far as composition is concerned, while for the choice of sounds we intended to move away from the Symphonic, recognizably feminine scenario to include acid and distorted synths so that we could create modern atmospheres that more closely met our tastes and better married the pop timbre of the melodic vocals. The dualism of HELLFOX is not meant to be understood on a conflicting level, it is instead the result of different voices within the human soul, different faces if you will, that mingle and generate the person itself, in its entirety, that although they seem to struggle, they coexist and create harmony and balance. We don’t use masks to conform to a mass, nor do we want to stand out at all costs, we just want to be ourselves in a society where normality is only a surface, the abyss instead is made up of so many facets of personality, both for the group and especially for the individual human being. Ours is a message within everyone’s reach, in which one can recognize oneself: that little voice in the head that either draws you in or drives you away… Because for us, nothing is normal, nothing is different.

The album marks a true turning point for the band. Introduced to fans as more than just a title, “Rebirth” represents a conscious relaunch—a bold affirmation of identity, cohesion, and creative maturity. It’s the first full-length work featuring Nastyville‘s current line-up, which has already proven its strength and chemistry both in the studio and on stage.

The journey began earlier this year with the release of “Power To The People” (video | streaming), a high-energy anthem calling for unity and rebellion, followed by “Rocking Through The Night” (video | streaming), a fiery hard rock track that reaffirmed the band’s signature attitude. ABOUT:
Nastyville is an Italian hard rock band formed in 2012 by drummer Danny Boy and guitarist David “Dave Wild,” with the aim of refreshing the rock genre. The first studio album, “Viva Hell-A” (released in 2015), features old-fashioned guitar riffs and the flavor of the best street/glam rock with Lex on vocals, Kruska on bass guitar, and Manuel on guitar. After Lex and Kruska left, the band continued its journey with Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals and Fabian Anderchen on bass guitar, releasing in 2017 their second studio album, “Glam Caramel”. This album, marked by heavier sounds, gave the band the opportunity to open the Italian tour dates for Skid Row, Crashdïet, Enuff Z’Nuff, Adam Bomb, John Corabi, Simon Wright, and many others. “Songs of Threesome”, released in 2022, was their third studio album and featured a new lineup with Christian “Dega” on guitar and Paul “Cannibal” (ex-Thee S.T.P.) on bass guitar.

In 2023, founding member and drummer Danny Boy and bassist Paul left the band and were soon replaced by Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar. After the release of the two singles “Red Black…Or Green?” and “Livin’ in A Mess”, the band with its new lineup consisting of Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals, David “Dave Wild” on guitar, Christian “Dega” on guitar, Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar, worked tirelessly on new studio material. The year 2024 was a very good year when the band played many dates across Italy and abroad. The opening act for Steel Panther in Milan (Alcatraz) deserves special mention. The band spent the last months of the year working on a brand-new album, entering the studio in December to start recording their fourth studio album under the supervision of producer, singer, and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio.

Wrapping up their Western Canadian Tour this past May, in support of their first full-length, “Troubled Mind”, Toronto prog rock Derev is sharing their latest lyric video “Darker Self”. It is the album’s closing track and speaks of embracing our true selves. Specifically, the instinctual, animalistic side we often suppress in an attempt to please others. Ignoring the value that this side of us brings in dire times renders us weak, fragile, and miserable.

“Our darker self is portrayed as a beast in hibernation, the lyrics start by enticing this animal to ‘Rise up and shake the dust off..”. As the song progresses, we begin to understand the true value of these traits that were deemed disgraceful and learn to embrace them, rather than bury them,” adds the band.

Derev‘s new album “Troubled Mind” is the follow-up to their 2021 debut EP “Leap of Faith,” and takes a deep dive into the intricacies of the human psyche, addressing a spectrum of mental health issues with each track, ranging from temporary mental instability to more severe conditions such as schizophrenia, cognitive immobility (a fixation on the past), and depression stemming from loss.

Offering a diverse range of sounds from mellow, calm tracks to adrenaline-pumping heavy headbangers while maintaining their distinctive progressive rock sound, enriched with Middle Eastern influences. Incorporating more prominent keyboard parts, experimenting with various time signatures, and introducing new instruments such as the Cajon, Darbuka, and electronic elements. This evolution showcases the band’s innovative spirit and commitment to pushing musical boundaries.

The band adds:

“This album is very personal and introspective. It’s full of memorable songs and parts to listen to and digest, both from a musical and lyrical perspective. Every song tackles a different state of mind and takes the listener into their thoughts of a mental state that they can relate to. As this one marks our second official release, we think the fans will be excited about hearing what Derev still has to offer. They’re in for a crazy ride full of energetic ups and heartbreaking downs.”

Derev was conceived after founding member and drummer Michel Karakach, after fleeing the war in the Middle East and finding refuge in Toronto, Canada, reunited with his best friend, guitarist Armando Bablanian, to turn what was once a mere childhood dream into a powerful reality.

Derev‘s dynamic lineup now includes bassist Stan Komarovsky, providing the backbone of Derev‘s sound, and keyboardist Ran Zehavi from the progressive rock band Scalar, adding depth and complexity. Leading the live charge is frontman and vocalist Mike Symons, who has replaced previous singer Adel Saflou, whose recorded vocals are featured on “Troubled Mind”.

After seventeen years of anticipation, Brazilian death metal stalwarts Ophiolatry have officially released their new album “Serpent’s Verdict” today (June 6th, 2025) through WormHoleDeath Records. Available now on all major digital platforms and in physical formats, this landmark release represents both a triumphant return and an evolutionary leap forward for one of extreme metal’s most brutal underground acts.

“Serpent’s Verdict” stands as a complete sonic ritual—a brutal, immersive descent into cycles of destruction, revenge, and rebirth. Rooted in themes of ancestral pain, war defiance, and spiritual reckoning, the album fuses relentless death metal with primal energy drawn from indigenous Amazonian spiritual traditions. Each track functions as a chapter in a larger narrative, combining aggressive riffs, guttural vocals, and tribal rhythms that pay homage to ancient warrior cultures. The band comments:

“”This is one of our heaviest songs and will be a staple of the live show for years to come. We wrote it intending to make a heavy song that satisfies both the headbangers and the dancers in the crowd. When coming up with a BPM, Brian was inspired by songs like Slipknot’s Custer, which is as heavy and aggressive as it is danceable. Their fourth full-length, “The World That Never Was,” is a statement of songcraft and lyricism. The album flows and progresses clearly as it explores the concept of self-identity and the loss thereof. Moments of melancholy, anger, wonder, and plenty of crushing riffs elicit the stank face. Each single shows a different side of the album.

“‘The World That Never Was’ is packed with different elements of rock and metal combined with the distinct Night’s Edge sound. Fans of alternative metal, symphonic metal, and even pop punk will have something to enjoy from this album,” says Haran.

Since their inception in 2018, the band has gone through a few changes in lineup and sound, and has progressed significantly from their debut in 2019. Falling under the umbrella of Alternative Metal, Night’s Edge‘s sound is hard to pin down. Incorporating influences from gothic metal, progressive rock, and nu metal, the band’s music is equal parts heavy and poppy, soaked in synthesizers and drama. Lyrics breach topics including isolation, dissociation, and the romantic, approaching themes common to the human experience from a cerebral angle that complements the band’s emotionally evocative music.

Five years since their last full-length release, Calgary stoner groove rock trio Woodhawk unveils their most ambitious and personal work yet with “Love Finds a Way” available as of June 6th across all platforms. The album marks a significant milestone for the band, Turner Midzain (guitar/vocals), Mike Badmington (bass), and Kevin Nelson (drums), representing their longest creative process to date and showcasing a more mature, introspective approach to their signature sound.

“This is the longest it’s taken to put out an album for us, and I think that shows”, reflects Midzain. “We really took our time and did it on our terms. I think you get some really riff-rocking songs, but also a lot of hardship and honesty in them. We poured our heart and soul into this one. It really is a journey of getting out of the darkness and into the light. Check in with your friends and loved ones. Hug the ones you love. Be nicer to each other. Love will always prevail and be stronger than anything else. After 10 years of being a band, I feel like we are still just getting started!”

“Love Finds a Way” demonstrates Woodhawk‘s evolution from their early stoner rock roots into something more emotionally complex while maintaining the infectious grooves and memorable hooks that have defined their sound. The album brings ‘a bit more of the riff back’ while diving deep into lyrical content that explores the personal struggles the band has faced over recent years.

True to their philosophy that the album should be an experience from start to finish, Woodhawk has crafted “Love Finds a Way” as a cohesive journey with carefully considered dynamics, balancing soft and heavy, slow and fast moments throughout.

Decimate Metalfest announces the addition of Edmonton progressive metal band QUIETUS to their 2025 lineup, which features INTO ETERNITY, THE BUNNY THE BEAR, UNTIMELY DEMISE, NECHT, and more!

DMF returns to the Millet Agriplex Arena in Millet, Alberta, on June 13th and 14th, 2025, for another electrifying weekend of heavy metal music and community spirit. As one of Western Canada’s premier metal festivals, Decimate Metalfest continues to deliver unforgettable experiences for metal enthusiasts of all kinds!

The 2024 edition of Decimate Metalfest was a monumental success, featuring an impressive lineup of bands from across Canada and the United States. Attendees were treated to performances spanning various alternative and metal genres, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration. The festival’s commitment to inclusivity was evident, welcoming fans of all ages and all walks of life to partake in the festivities. Highlights included thrilling air guitar contests with real guitars as prizes, an array of vendors, gaming, delectable offerings from local food, and the convenience of nearby camping facilities. “We are so grateful to the community of Millet for welcoming us with such open arms. We cannot wait to see you all again this year!”
