Rockshots Records – Finland’s AMOTH (ft.Ensiferum’s Pekka Montin) Posts New Lyric Video “It Aint’ Over Yet”

New Album “The Hour Of The Wolf” Out Jan 28, 2022

Finland’s Amoth featuring Pekka Montin of Ensiferum on vocals are sharing their second single “It Aint’s Over Yet” off their forthcoming album “The Hour Of The Wolf” due out on January 28, 2022.

“This is a full-scale thrash attack with no mercy! This is about school bullying or bullying in general. We are totally against bullying! Unfortunately, it’s a thing that’s going on all around the world. Remember if you’re a bully that it may be over for you but it ain’t over for the victim. Things might get ugly if the bullied person decides to retaliate…” adds the band.

“It Ain’t Over Yet” can be heard via its lyric video https://youtu.be/FQYTtROb8dk

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3cOp2y1

Amoth is a melodic progressive heavy metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Their third studio album “The Hour Of The Wolf” is a huge leap forward compared to their previous recordings “Revenge” (2016), “Crossing Over” (2011), “Wounded Faith (EP) (2008).

“This is by far our best album yet! Superior performances from all of the musicians. Much better production and songwriting. It’s not a fast-food album. Some of the songs are quite complex so it takes probably more than one listen to really get into!” comments Amoth guitarist and main songwriter Tomi Ihanamäki.

Amoth’s roots are strongly founded on 80’s heavy metal, but branch out in different directions with elements from progressive rock, thrash, and even jazz brought to the table.

The new album features Pekka Montin of Ensiferum once again as the lead vocalist and for the first time, there are also keyboards on an Amoth recording. Fans can expect insane vocals and virtuoso-like playing from all members of the band. The nine songs are very diverse, taking sudden twists and turns into unexplored territory. Amoth even offers up two Steve Vai / Joe Satriani-style instrumentals on this new full-length with tracks “Wind Serenade Part I” and “Wind Serenade Part II”.

Amoth‘s new album “The Hour of The Wolf” is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Testament, Megadeth, Joe Satriani.

Montreal, QC – November 25, 2021

Bam&Co.Heavy – Canada’s Nova Spei Drop New Video “Sorcière” Off New Album “Sequentis”

“Sorcière” is the third single off of Quebec’s Nova Spei recently released second album “Sequentis”. This sophomore record is more cohesive than their previous one, their 2017 self-titled debut. On this new album, they stay high energy, focusing on how they will translate their music to the stage.

The majority of Nova Spei’s lyrics focus on relatable experiences that people have regularly in their lives. They describe the meaning behind “Sorcière”:

“We created this album as a more ‘’metal’’ album, with lots of energy and powerful riffs. The summary of the single is that it represents our vices, our weaknesses, which can lead to an unhealthy relationship.”

A groovy undertone meets progressive, catchy riffs, compiled with aggressive vocals belting out the French lyrics. It’s accessible, but edgy enough to suit a discerning metalhead. It is heavier than their previous one, but will still be familiar to their current fans. They have a wide range of influences that combine to result in memorable, heavy music.

The djenty French metal is recommended for fans of Architects, Gojira and Deftones.

The music video for “Sorcière” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit YouTube channel – https://youtu.be/KfPMCk2tj4I

“Sequentis” is now out via Quebec label Bam&Co-Heavy. The album was written and produced by Nova Spei plus mixed and mastered by Anthony Chognard along with the album artwork done by Filip Ivanovic.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 24, 2021

Rockshots Records – Blue Hour Ghosts and Shining’s Jørgen Munkeby Honour Freddie Mercury w/ Queen Cover “I’m Going Slightly Mad”

After their successful second album “Due” (Dynamit! on Rock Hard, 12/15 on Legacy magazine, Hot album on Metalitalia.com in Feb. ‘21) Blue Hour Ghosts return with a powerful and classy cover of the dark and experimental Queen masterpiece “I’m Going Slightly Mad”. The track is once again produced by Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (Fear Factory) and features a guest appearance of the talented multi-instrumentalist Jørgen Munkeby of Shining on saxophone. The cover song is meant to honor the great Freddie Mercury on the 30th anniversary of his passing (Nov 24, 1991).

YouTube – https://youtu.be/G_ViAo16LrQ
Spotify – https://spoti.fi/30QnkcD

The band comments:

“Despite our influences drawing from a very wide spectrum of metal, rock and pop subgenres, Queen has always been a major influence for all of us, and fully embody the spirit with which we make music: no boundaries, no clichés, total freedom, eclectic and elegant, while keeping themselves extremely effective, enjoyable and accessible. We wanted to honor the 30th anniversary of Freddie’s passing with something special, so we dared to give our take on one of the darkest, most sophisticated, and enigmatic songs of Queen’s discography. We were joined in this endeavor by none less than the great Jørgen Munkeby of Shining (Nor), who graced the song with a stellar performance on saxophone. And, more than ever before, this time our producer Giuseppe Bassi acted as our seventh Ghost and helped us give the track its unique, twisted, and modern feel. We hope that all of our fans and all Queen fans all over the world will enjoy our tribute to the One and Only.”

BLUE HOUR GHOSTS’ latest album “Due” was released on Feb 12th, 2021 and is the follow up to their 2016 self-titled debut album. Teaming up once again with Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (session musician for Fear Factory, Grenouer, Levania, Noveria), BHG’s “Due” is their sophomore effort continuing their blend of progressive, classic, gothic metal, and alternative rock.

Taking a fresh, powerful, and intense melodic assault, “Due” depicts a wide range of soundscapes ranging from full metal aggression to soft, acoustic atmospheres, passing through infectious and catchy hooks and refrains that will enthrall any music addict, along with sophisticated layered arrangements to satisfy the most demanding palates. Throughout the 9 songs, all the ghosts hiding in the blue hour are made alive in the deep and heartfelt narration provided by both music and lyrics, offering a unique and compelling listening experience.

About:

Born of the frosty bowels of Montreal, Quebec, Canada comes CroMagnum, heavy metal from a simpler time. Brutal and unforgiving. Thoughtful and visionary. A forced juxtaposition that leads to an intense listening experience.

CroMagnum started when Maximus Rex and the original drummer parted ways with their previous band with an aim to keep it simple, heavy as fuck and stay as a three-piece. Since then, CroMagnum has evolved into its current form as the main duo of Maximus Rex on guitar and vocals, Gino LaPosta on bass.

With two EPs under their belts, 2014’s self-titled initial release and now 2021’s “Born Free”, CroMagnum embodies the human race’s struggle to climb out of the primordial ooze toward its future ascension to godhood. Lyrical content flows from anger, frustration, history, politics, government corruption, legends, and philosophy, complete with soaring melodies and punishing riffs.

Mythology. Tradition. Evolution. The beginning. The end. CroMagnum.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 24, 2021

Rockshots Records Signs THE HUMAN TORNADO For New Album “Love Is Démodé” Out March 2022

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of Italy’s THE HUMAN TORNADO for the release of their upcoming album “Love Is Démodé” on March 11, 2022.

Offering a slab of smashing knock-out heavy groove rock, The Human Tornado has been making shockwaves since forming in 2014 in Bologna, Italy. The band made their debut in 2016 with their first full-length “Storm In A Ketchup” on Hidden Stone Records along with supporting touring bands such as Twelve Foot Ninja, Destrage, and Crazy Town.

The band comments on their signing:

“We are absolutely thrilled to release our new album “Love Is Démodé” with Rockshots Records. They are one of the most influential and active Italian labels dedicated to rock, metal, and all things heavy.”

The Human Tornado‘s sophomore follow-up “Love Is Démodé” was self-produced by the band with mixing and mastering done by Marco Paradisi at Boat Studio. The album will feature ten hurricane tour de force tracks that will leave fans breathless and eager to set the track listing on repeat from beginning to end.

“Every song is played with heart and soul and we wanted to explore new sounds, but without forgetting our heavy rock imprint, so we produced an intense groovy album with more melodic openings.” adds the band.

The lyrical concept behind the album is love, one of the strongest feelings of deep affection. It has different aspects and it can be addressed to another person, an animal, or a passion. But, if it’s pure, this doesn’t matter.

The band explains further:

“For some years this feeling of love has been declining, going out of fashion. In fact, in our society finding people loving what they do is increasingly difficult and often image, power, success are the most important aspects of life. Moreover, these goals are more and more often achieved by means of questionable actions and negative feelings. In this album we want to express our idea of love in particular towards music, showing in every single song even the dark and negative sides coming from love in our life.”

The Human Tornado will be revealing track listing, album artwork, singles and videos in lead up to the release of “Love Is Démodé”. To listen to their previous album and cover singles, please visit their Spotify and YouTube.

Thunderor is a relatively new band, just having started up in the midst of the pandemic when JJ Tartaglia (Skull Fist) felt a calling to develop his singing and front his own band. He was joined by ex-Skull Fist bandmate Jonny Nesta and Oscar Rangel (Operus, ex-Annihilator) creating a heavy 80’s influenced power trio that knows how to rock fans. They are releasing their debut album “Fire It Up” early next year with the first single being “How We Roll”, which Tartaglia explains:

“How We Roll just felt like the right choice as the first single to come out with. It’s a catchy tune, with a big emphasis on the song-writing, and that’s the main thing with Thunderor. It’s got that anthem-like singalong chorus, feels like freedom and good times. It’s a song about friends, road trips, and not wanting to go home when it’s time to go home haha.”

The album is a fresh take on NWOTHM, with 80s synths, piano, and gong hits.  Lyrically it’s an adventure, complete with motorcycles, romance, and danger. It inspires you to go after your life and to never give up. The video for the groovy, catchy single features shots of the band cruising on bikes; JJ Tartaglia is indeed an avid motorcycle rider and has been featured a couple of times in Adventure Bike Rider.

Tartaglia expects that the album will be a hit with Skull Fist fans who will find some familiarity in the music, and also will intrigue new listeners who will be drawn in by the originality and catchy hooks. He cites that being a singing drummer definitely adds a unique twist and will allow for a creative setup when they hit the stage. He sums up the album:

“I think we’ve created a truly original album with Fire It Up. It was a blast writing these songs and putting my personality into the lyrics for the first time. The songs on the album are meant to inspire a life journey – an adventure with friends, motorcycles, romance, danger, and victory. I hope it will be a soundtrack for your adventures.”

The 80s-infused heavy metal is recommended for fans of Skull Fist, Saxon, and Judas Priest.

THUNDEROR is an 80’s-infused heavy metal band formed in 2020. Featuring a lead-singing drummer and an all-star lineup, the Canadian power trio delivers hook-driven stadium caliber songs with an untamed spirit.

Since 2019, drummer JJ Tartaglia had felt a calling, one which grew stronger each day. Being a member of several prominent metal bands over the last decade (most notably Skull Fist) and having essentially served as a disciple of heavy metal for many years, the time had come to take his quest even further. A new course was being charted for his musical mission. He would share a vision, a feeling… a message he could deliver only with his own voice.

Fueled by his passion for adventure, JJ began to work on drum arrangements and piano pieces that would become the skeletons of the Thunderor songs.

In 2020, with the addition of ex-Skull Fist bandmate Jonny Nesta on guitars, combined with JJ also composing on keys and vocals, songwriting began in full force and quickly yielded an album’s worth of material. Close friend and monster player Oscar Rangel (ex-Annihilator) was then called upon to do bass and the line-up was complete.  Thunderous drums, lightning hot guitar licks, dreamy synths, and piercing vocals would form the musical storm that is THUNDEROR.

The band would spend the next year self-recording the album, priding themselves on recording the natural way, producing an energetic record with a strong human connection.  Fall of 2021 would see the release of the 1st single HOW WE ROLL, immediately garnering a worldwide audience. The debut album FIRE IT UP is set for an early 2022 release backed by an European tour.

If you’ve ever felt a longing for escape, a thirst for adventure, wrapped in romance and danger, well what are you waiting for? Get after it and let THUNDEROR be your soundtrack!

Hails to “The Alder Queen” as she takes her throne in the latest epic video from Canadian power metal warriors Ravenous. The track features guest vocals from Nina Osegueda of A Sound of Thunder and is off the band’s recently unleashed album “Hubris” (Feast Beast/ Spiritual Beast) that is being premiered today via Sonic Perspectives HERE.

The band explains the track:

“This song is an alternate take on Der Erlkonig – a poem written by Goethe and later adapted into Opera by Franz Schubert – in which a father rides to get his son medical attention, while the child cries out about supernatural forces trying to claim his life (Der Erklonig – loosely translated to the Elf King or The Alder King). The father continues to console the child, telling them it is simply the child’s imagination seeing these things, but as the child finally cries that he has been captured, the father looks down to find his son has died. The Ravenous rendition features Die Erlkonigin – the Elf/Alder Queen, played by Nina Osegueda of A Sound of Thunder – and follows the trajectory of the original tale with lyrics extracted directly from the original poem from 1782.”

Taking their performance, writing, and musicianship seriously, but allowing tongue-in-cheek humour and pop culture references to resonate through the songs, Ravenous is bringing fans anthemic tunes from a time when metal was hungry.

Their new studio album “Hubris”, released on October 22nd, was produced by the band with mixing and mastering done by Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, Opeth, Firewind). The full-length features guests Vincent ‘Jake’ Jones of Aether Realm, Heinrich Yoshio of Aether Realm, Mathias Blad of Falconer, Nina Osegueda of A Sound of Thunder and The Dread Crew of Oddwood (Full Band).

Bringing a full lineup of experienced musicians together, ones that have toured extensively and are fully dedicated to providing a high-energy, high-intensity live experience. Ravenous seek to inspire others to find that inner triumph and glory that drove them to form this project – whether that means starting their own band, or just finding the strength to make a change in their lives – they seek to empower their followers through every step of their journey.

Recommended for fans of Blind Guardian, Falconer, Sabaton and Unleash the Archers.

Album digital stream and download available on Spotify, Ravenouseternalhunger.bandcamp.com, Apple Music.

“Calgary’s Ravenous have fused their flamboyant cross-breeding of European power metal and early ‘80s US speed metal, using it like a sharp ’n’ shiny scythe to forge their way through the crowded underground. Past accomplishments have included tours and gigs with Delain, Alestorm, Hammerfall, Striker and Powerglove with festival appearances and headliners interspersed in between. Considering all of the above, it shouldn’t come as a surprise a large part of this quintet’s musical vocabulary involved loving it speedy, epic, melodically grandiose while having a sword waving good time in the process.” – Decibel Magazine

“Ravenous aren’t afraid to put it all out there; symphonic assaults blend with all-out thrash metal, underpinned by some of the most enthusiastic power metal of the year. From start to finish Hubris is chock full of anthemic and contagious fist-pumping, head-banging songs featuring dramatic vocals and shredding solos. Power metal fans rejoice: Hubris is a worthy addition to your collection.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“A great album of Power Metal, and even more. 9.5/10” – Metal Express Radio

“a sparkling speed metal fuelled power metal rampage, raising fists high, banging heads hard, and causing fans everywhere to roar out loud with delight. 5/5” – Metal-Roos

“a sparkling speed metal fuelled power metal rampage, raising fists high, banging heads hard, and causing fans everywhere to roar out loud with delight.10/10” – Metal Gods TV

“Hubris reminds me of early Dragonforce (the faster numbers) and Orden Ogan (the mid-paced material) though the songwriting is a notch or two below those bands currently. This is a solid second album from Ravenous, who display significant upside, and fans of the aforementioned bands will want to give it spin. 3.75/5” – The Metal Crypt

Rage In My Eyes, hailing from Brazil, have an innovative new EP released this past October, “Spiral”. Now they have their new music video for the second single off the record, “Spark of Hope”, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/VXZVtNJ2iQM

Originally going under the band name “Scelerata”, they released a handful of records and were Paul Di’Anno’s backup band for many years. It was only recently they decided to musically change their direction and name to Rage In My Eyes. This new form took hold in 2018, and the main change to the music was stepping back from the basic traditional/power metal they were used to and showcasing their culture through the inclusion of milonga, a traditional folk music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. The expand on the new musical direction:

“The most curious thing about the band is the addition of the accordion, which is not a common instrument for Heavy Metal bands. The “Gaucho” visuals and the sound of the accordion is, without a doubt, something that separates us from other bands. Plus, the powerful and beautiful vocal tone of vocalist Jonathas Pozo is always a treat to listen to live.”

The single, “Spark Of Hope” is a folk song strongly influenced by the Gaucho culture from southern Brazil, musically and lyrically. It talks about a story during 19th century Southern Brazil, after a decade of war, two men duelled for a matter of honor. One is a rebel Lieutenant and the other, an indigenous tracker known as Missioneiro. Once they fought back to back, now they will cross blades with each other. Lurking their tragic demise, a Lady in white awaits to take them to a final journey as a new sun rises.

“Spiral” is Rage In My Eye’s second release under their new name, following the 2019 full-length “Ice Cell”. As Scelerata, they released 3 full-lengths “The Sniper” (2012), “Skeletons Domination” (2008), and “Darkness & Light” (2006).

Rage in My Eyes is technical and innovative and highly recommended for fans of Helloween, Symphony X and Iron Maiden.

The new EP is available on Rageinmyeyes.bandcamp.com, Spotify.

About:
RAGE IN MY EYES introduces to the world a unique kind of music. Being from southern Brazil, the band shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of milonga – which is a music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – the band presents new sound to the metal genre.

The band’s first album “Ice Cell” was recorded in 2017 and 2018, partially in Los Angeles due to drummer Francis Cassol’s move to the city and partially in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil.

For 16 years the band went under the name Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scene. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the internationally acclaimed album The Sniper – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – that featured guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween).

Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon. With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.

RAGE IN MY EYES have teamed up with some of the best professionals in the heavy metal business to deliver a head-turning EP in 2021 entitled “Spiral” to follow the success of their 2019 full-length “Ice Cell”. The new EP will feature plenty of material for all different types of metal lovers. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts plus powerful yet melodic vocals.

The EP was written and made during a Covid pandemic. All band members suffered losses of loved ones during the pandemic, some directly related to Covid, some not. Also due to Covid, the band couldn’t get together in a practice room to jam the material. Each member had to work on their part separately, which was something new within the band. Plus, some songs were being written and arranged during the recording sessions, so they felt it was being made in real time. All of the above impacted the EP’s lyrics and songwriting. They like to think of this record as a way to say farewell to their dear loved ones and as a spiral of emotions that keeps coming and going during Covid times.

RAGE IN MY EYES’ new EP “Spiral” is due out October 15th, 2021.

Shared Stage with:
Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Kamelot, Gamma Ray, Angra, Edguy

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 18, 2021

WHITE COWBELL OKLAHOMA’s X-Mess Holiday Debauchery Returns To Lee’s Place In Toronto Dec 11th

Out Now! “Textos Raros – Vol. 1 – 2001-2011” via Slick Monkey Records

White Cowbell Oklahoma‘s notorious debaucherous and rambunctious X-Mess returns for its 17th edition at Lee’s Palace in Toronto, ON, Canada on December 11th with special guests Joan Smith & the Jane Does. Events Details here.

Since 2006, White Cowbell Oklahoma‘s X-Mess has been offering up a dizzying array of surprise guests, nubile flesh, power tools along with a general sullying of long-cherished holiday icons. This will be White Cowbell Oklahoma‘s first and only show of 2021.

Watch videos from previous X-Mess events at the following YouTube playlist here (X-MESS THROUGH THE AGES (2006-2019).

This past August, White Cowbell Oklahoma released their first archival album “Textos Raros – Vol 1 – 2001-2011” via their very own label Slick Monkey Records. The album features over 40 minutes of eleven rare and never-released digital tracks.

Songs such as “Take Me Down to Mexico”, “(Just) Some Things a Man Can’t Keep Inside”, “Southern Grace (Live)” and “Black Mountain Top (Whiskey Woman) (Live)” have only appeared on the vinyl version of 2012’s “Buenas Nachas” whereas other recorded songs “Black Night” (Deep Purple cover) and “Streetknifes ‘R’ Go” never made the final cut of the band’s discography and will be available to be heard for the first time.

Established in 1999 in Toronto, Canada, legendary rock armada White Cowbell Oklahoma has remained a behemoth of over the top rock n’ roll for over two decades. Featuring a nebulous syndicate of low-life participants and a show often compared to Kiss meets The Allman Brothers meet Frank Zappa meets The Tubes, the band has toured Europe and North America countless times, while completely disregarding musical trends, political correctness, and common decency.

The band is recommended for fans of Deep Purple, ZZ Top, and Frank Zappa.

White Cowbell Oklahoma is also working on releasing new music in early 2022 along with North American and European dates for 2022.

Limited signed/numbered CD versions of “Textos Raros – Vol 1 – 2001-2011” are available on Whitecowbelloklahoma.bandcamp.com along with digital stream and download on Spotify and Apple Music.
