Exitus Stratagem Records – VISITANT Unveils Mesmerizing Music Video “Briars”

+ Michigan Metal Fest + “In the Wake of Flame Tour” (FL/GA/TN/SC/NC) w/ IATT

Debut Album “Rubidium” Out Aug 2025 via Exitus Stratagem Records

With their debut album “Rubidium” just weeks away from being unleashed on Exitus Stratagem Records on August 22, 2025, blackened death metal collective Visitant presents their third and final pre-release single “Briars” accompanied by a beautiful music video that visualizes the band’s immersive dreamscapes. This composition serves as a powerful statement piece, showcasing the full scope of Visitant‘s ability to craft ritualistic soundscapes that are both aggressive and ethereal. As they put it, “such a beautiful representation of what is to come.”

The story of a man who, after realizing he’s died, pleads that it wasn’t his time yet, and as his pleas fall on non-existent ears, he comes to discover that everyone will be forgotten in the end. “Briars” exemplifies the band’s commitment to creating tasteful juxtapositions between the visceral and the beautiful. The track features the collaborative genius that has defined Visitant‘s approach: Taylor Tidwell’s intricate guitar work, Anthony Lusk-Simone’s orchestral arrangements and powerful drumming, Kilian Duarte’s prominent bass lines that intensify the forward-pushing experience, and Chelsea Marrow’s commanding vocal performance that channels personal experiences transformed into ghost stories.

The single arrives as Visitant prepares for their live debut at Michigan Metal Fest on August 23rd and “In the Wake of Flame Tour” with Philadelphia’s alchemical blackened death metal force IATT (dates listed below), where they will bring their haunting world to life with what they envision as an intense live experience featuring ‘muted dingy lighting and old house vibes’ that match the atmosphere of their music.

Visitant has created a debut album that promises to resonate with listeners for years to come. They are recommended listening for fans of Opeth, Naglfar, and Between the Buried and Me.

Visitant‘s recording lineup features seasoned musicians from the extreme metal underground: Anthony Lusk-Simone (drums/orchestration) from Abiotic and Lattermath, Kilian Duarte (bass) from Abiotic and Scale the Summit, Taylor Tidwell from Unaligned, and Chelsea Marrow from Voraath, whose vocal work has also been featured in acclaimed video games including DOOM ETERNAL and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Thomas Weidick, on guitar, recently joined their live lineup this past June.

“Visitant is here to utterly wreck your morning thanks to their brand new single “Fodder”, the first offering from their upcoming album Rubidium due out on August 23 via Exitus Stratagem Records. Visitant is vocalist Chelsea Marrow (Voraath, The Monster Factory, Doom Eternal, Hellblade 2, etc.), guitarist Taylor Tidwell, drummer Anthony Lusk-Simone (Abiotic, Lattermath & ex-Pathogenic), and bassist Kilian Duarte (Abiotic, Lattermath, Felix Martin & Scale The Summit). So a real powerhouse of a band that brings some savage energy to the metal world.” – Metal Injection

“Visitant introduce the song (Starless) with subdued classical strings and rippling piano keys which together create a sorrowful but entrancing mood. The gentle nature of that overture makes the sudden crash that follows it even more startling — a sudden attack of slashing and sizzling fretwork, gargantuan bass-moans, neck-cracking beats, savage roars, and scorching screams. The song continues to bring in classically influenced piano melodies coupled with vividly dancing guitars, creating an almost diabolical kind of elegance, but the song also ignites a blackened firestorm of blasting drums, delirious fretwork, and sweeping symphonics. The notes vibrantly dart and blaze as the rhythm section thunder, and the music both elevates to heights of daunting, haughty grandeur and sweeps like wildfire. The torrid and tormented vocals seem to hold nothing back, howling and screaming out on the bleeding edge of intensity, and as if the song couldn’t get any more extravagant, the band make room for a head-spinning guitar solo at the end, in the midst of lots of other equally head-spinning fretwork and rhythm-section spectacles.” – No Clean Singing

““Fodder“, presents different warps and wefts in its weave. Also presented through a video (this time we get to see the band perform), it was inspired by a very dark dream in which Chelsea attempted to bring a murdered friend back to life and lost her own life in the process, leaving the friend trapped in a hellish limbo, bound to a body over which their control had been lost to dark spirits. To be sure, this song is also musically extravagant. It features a lot of borderline deranged and technically demanding high-speed maneuvers (a tour de force that would make lots of tech-death bands jealous) but it’s also hallucinatory, and unhinged in many other respects. It further demonstrates that Chelsea Marrow can really sing, as well as howl like a wolf and scream like a goblin. It’s a highly theatrical experience, but also instrumentally kaleidoscopic and viscerally frightening, and the singing makes the song stand out as much as every other demented and dazzling aspect of it.” – No Clean Singing

“Emerging from the shadowy fringes of the metal scene, blackened death metal outfit Visitant has unleashed their riveting debut single, “Fodder.” Released as a precursor to their eagerly anticipated first full-length album, “Rubidium,” the track invites listeners into a deeply atmospheric yet punishing sonic landscape.” – See Rock Live Magazine

“Uniting seasoned musicians from the Extreme Metal underground scene with members known for their previous works in Abiotic, Scale the Summit, Unaligned and Voraath, Blackened Death Metal quartet Visitant have spent the better part of three years crafting a debut album. The promise is of something dark, beautiful, visceral and compelling with single “Fodder” an almost ritualistic journey that weaves ethereal elements into an unrelentingly aggressive soundscape. Turning personal experiences into ghost stories for the half an hour of power that is “Rubidium” caught the attention of Exitus Stratagem Records who will distribute the affair on 29th August.” – Metal Noise

ASHES OF THE SUN, the one-man solo band from the mind of Ethan Henry (Freya, The Last Season), is proud to reveal the debut album “Gods with Machines”, out now as of August 1st via his label Ignorant Tourist Productions.

The album was written from a catalog of songs that Henry had written over the years while in his other bands. Unsure of what to do with them. He finally decided that it was time to hit the studio and start recording them. After those sessions, Henry decided his eclectic song list was cohesive enough to make an album.

The nine tracks on “Gods With Machines” were written, performed (drums, guitar, bass, vocals), and produced, along with the album artwork, all by Ethan D. Henry, with mixing and mastering done by Jason “Jocko” Randle at CAPTURE STUDIO (Syracuse, N.Y.). The result is an album that is ultimately about an alien race that lands on a planet after destroying their world. Realizing the people are looking to the sky for heaven, they pretend they are gods and take advantage of the natives, steal their resources, and live in their paradise. Eventually, the people rebel against the gods after years of abuse and lies. They overthrow the gods and realize they aren’t what they claim to be.

This album expresses feelings of being misled by those you admire and trust. It’s about being yourself and finding your spiritual path. My overall vision was to have this album flow like some of my playlists, and I imagine most people’s playlists. I hope that fans will enjoy the mellow acoustic/ballad intros that transition into hard rock/ metal flows. I wanted these songs to reach rock fans and metal fans alike. I’ve been in metal bands for a long time and love the brutality Karl and Dan brought to Freya and The Last Season, but I wanted to reach a broader audience. So I chose to tone the heavy vocals back and sing the album. I think ultimately, whether it’s my metal, rock, or grunge influences coming through in these songs, it sounds like the era of music I grew up listening to. late 90s, early 2000s. I like that about this record,” adds Henry.

Recommended for fans of Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden, “Gods With Machines” is available at https://ignoranttouristproductions.com/

“One-man solo band ASHES OF THE SUN is the work of drummer / filmmaker Ethan D. Henry and he’s just dropped his new single, “A New Way To Die” from the forthcoming full length album “Gods With Machines” (Aug. 1st). Razor sharp riffs, heavy duty percussion and an overdrive rhythm section rule on “A New Way To Die” and it’s pretty glorious. We’ve had a chance to preview the entire album and it’s a hard rock juggernaut just waiting to be unleashed that is sure to please. Canada’s IN/VERTIGO Release New Video “Weathervane” Off New EP “Prevail” Out Now!

Following the release of their explosive single “Save Me”, Canadian hard rockers IN/VERTIGO continue to turn up the heat with their brand-new track “Weathervane,” now available on all digital platforms.

Built on swaggering riffs, pounding drums, and a fiercely melodic chorus, “Weathervane” showcases a more anthemic side of the band, without losing their trademark grit. Lyrically introspective yet musically defiant, the track explores the chaos of navigating life’s shifting winds, staying true to yourself amidst uncertainty.

The single is taken from their new EP “Prevail,” released last July 18th, 2025, and is accompanied by a high-energy official music video capturing the band’s raw and playful spirit.

Formed in 2016, IN/VERTIGO has earned a loyal following with their high-octane performances and no-nonsense rock attitude. Having shared the stage with rock legends like Buckcherry, Steel Panther, and Diamond Head, the band continues to prove why they are one of the most electrifying names in modern hard rock.

0 Rockshots Records – SECRET RULE Shares Music Video For New Single “Silent Pain” Off Upcoming 10th Studio Album “X” Out October 2025

  • August 5, 2025

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 5, 2025

SECRET RULE Shares Music Video For New Single “Silent Pain” Off Upcoming 10th Studio Album “X” Out October 2025

Italian modern metal act Secret Rule unveil their powerful new single “Silent Pain”, the third track taken from their upcoming tenth studio album “X“, due out on October 24th, 2025 via Rockshots Records.

Following the energetic “Just a Sacrifice” and the evocative “Echoes of the Earth”, “Silent Pain” dives into the emotional terrain of hidden suffering. With haunting melodies, cinematic arrangements and raw, confessional lyrics, the song captures the invisible battles we fight behind closed doors—where pain is masked by silence and strength is found in vulnerability.

“‘Silent Pain’ is a song I deeply connect with—it’s about giving a voice to emotions we often keep buried. Singing it felt like releasing something I had been holding in for years”, shares vocalist and lyricist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Musically, the track merges heavy grooves with fragile atmospheres, reflecting the duality of emotional turmoil and healing. Guitarist and producer Andy Menario explains:

“I wanted the guitars to echo the internal chaos and quiet desperation behind the lyrics—sometimes heavy, sometimes fragile, just like the human mind.”

As with the rest of the album, the song was entirely produced by the band. Angela Di Vincenzo penned the lyrics and vocal melodies while Andy Menario handled the arrangement, mixing and mastering at Digitall Studio. Drums were recorded at Alpha Music with Andrea Miazzetto delivering a tense yet fluid performance and Sofia Basili adding both depth and vocal harmonies on bass.

Secret Rule’s upcoming album “X” celebrates their tenth anniversary with a bold and contemporary sound, blending modern metal intensity, symphonic textures and electronic experimentation. The album explores themes of collapse, resistance and rebirth—“Silent Pain” stands as one of its most intimate and cathartic moments.

Technical death metal maestro Matt Miller is set to unleash his seventh full-length, “Fiber Tormentum,” on September 12th via Exitus Stratagem Records. Marking a bold evolution from his instrumental legacy, this release embraces a full-band lineup featuring Jordan Kelso (drums, synth), Justice Robinett (bass), and Biko Wright (vocals). Each member injects a distinctive energy that elevates the album’s sonic intensity and emotional depth.

Earlier this summer, the first single, “Descent into Violence,” was unveiled along with a visualizer and playthrough; now the quartet is ready to showcase the next track, “Effectively Neutralized.”

“This track establishes the tone for our new LP, Fiber Tormentum. It makes a bold statement by blending melodicism and memorable hooks with the relentless elements of technical death metal. This combination creates a unique mixture of ferocity and intensity that delivers an emotional experience, which can sometimes be lost in this genre’s inhuman technicality. We believe this sets us apart from other artists, and we hope our authenticity resonates with the listener.” adds Miller.

Listen to “Effectively Neutralized” via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

A significant evolution in Miller’s musical journey, “Fiber Momentum” is an eight-track technical death metal opus that pushes boundaries with clean vocals, intricate guitars, and a theatrical, memorable sound. Lyrically, “Fiber Tormentum” envisions a scenario where extraterrestrial forces manipulate human DNA to subjugate humanity, blending speculative fiction with real-world anxieties. The album’s artwork, created by the late Joshua Nassaru Ward of Voraath, adds a poignant visual dimension to the project’s thematic depth.

“We emphasize our commitment to excellence, experimentation, and emotional authenticity, blending modern production with a human touch. The album represents a milestone in our evolving musical journey, with even greater ambitions for future work,” says Miller.

Listeners can expect a fusion of intricate musicianship and emotionally charged narrative, drawing inspiration from death metal trailblazers like Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession, while channeling the ambient intensity of visionaries such as Devin Townsend and Rivers of Nihil..

“I am super excited. I already know this is gonna destroy. Matt Miller just absolutely destroys it on all facets. He has so many guitar techniques that he has absolutely mastered and he can literally play it all.” – Omar Rodriguez – The Metal Mixtape – YouTube Channel

“Hell yeah. Holy moly canoli. Fiverr to Fiber Momentum, and that was the album. This song is Descent into Violence. Holy moly canoli, dude. Go support, Matt Miller. That was absolutely badass. Total shredding. Jordan, also a homie of mine, your drums are incredible. The new singer, Bo, I love the harsh vocals in the clean. Total is it almost the cleans almost reminded me of Queensryche meets Cannibal Corpse. It’s pretty freaking sweet. And of course, Justice always lays down the heavy bass with the beautiful bass faces. But an absolutely incredible album….Matt Miller, you could find him everywhere. He’s an incredible guitar player, one of the best guitar players of our generation. Remember, this is Fiber Tormentum courtesy of Exitus Stratagem Records. So, a huge shout-out to them as well. Matt Miller has so many more songs. If you guys like this song (Descent into Violence), believe me, this guy is an absolute shred master. Not only does he do like a ton of his own originals, he does a ton of covers, and also he’s just a shred master of all sorts. Just exactly how they say, melodic, technical, and death. But I will definitely say the big thing that stands apart about this whole song is great structure, absolutely shredding on all levels, and the vocals are just 100% one-of-a-kind. And I totally enjoyed it. Guys, I love you guys from the bottom of my heart. This has been Matt Miller with his new song, Descent into Violence. Pick up the new album on September 12, Fiber Tormentum.” – Omar Rodriguez – The Metal Mixtape – YouTube Channel

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, emotive, and relentless, are words that strongly describe Decrepit Shed. The album has a lot to offer from various metal sub-genres and encompasses the best elements of technical guitar playing while still having well-written songs”. – Brave Words

“Monument of Velocity” initially had a different title and was not going to be a Matt Miller release and some of the songs were written with vocals in mind and were not going to be instrumental, however, it turned out to be the sixth of seven powerful albums in his discography. contains eight tracks full of technical and progressive metal eliciting feelings of suspense, and tension while being fun, melodic and brutally heavy. Miller’s melodic and relentless music has a wide range of influences and is recommended for fans of Jeff Loomis, Necrophagist, and Obscura.” – Rock’n’ Load

“Even though Miller’s music is instrumental, he likes to think of the guitar as a voice. Which in turn makes him ask what is the guitar saying? He is able to easily convey emotion, tone, and a story even without the use of vocals. Throughout his releases, his music has developed a more modern sound in both the music and the production. Musically the songs are more well written and a lot of the ideas he writes are being accurately represented. He is always trying to push himself as a musician and this is reflected in his discography. Influenced primarily by technical and progressive death metal with a dash of power metal and symphonic metal as well, Matt Miller’s music is recommended for fans of Obscura, Dragon Force, and Racer X” – Metal Sucks

“Mr. Miller can shred like his fingers are on fire” – Ever-Metal.com

“Matt shreds all over this album with guitar solos galore”. – Transcending the Mundane

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, and emotive, Miller conveys a wide range of tones throughout his instrumental music. It is recommended for fans of Dragon Force, Racer X, and Jeff Loomis” – Metal-Rules

“For guitar enthusiasts, I guess it is a feast for the eyes and ears.” – Antichrist Magazine

Emerging from the emotional depths of Cleveland, OH’s deathcore underground, Sterilizing The Deceased announces the release of their soul-crushing third EP, “Nothing”, now available as of August 1st, 2025. This five-track record dives headfirst into addiction, loss, and recovery, offering a raw and reflective listening experience unlike anything fans have heard from them before.

Formed during frontman Angelo Vespucci’s final year of high school, the band quickly evolved from high-energy house shows to writing deeply personal and musically ferocious work.

“I just wanted to start a band with my buddies, and this is where we began,” says Vespucci.

That seed has since grown into a sonic force of heavy, atmospheric, emotional, and aggressive music ready to be discovered on their new EP “Nothing”. This new offering is their most refined and impactful release to date. It is more than music; it’s a mirror held up to the darkest parts of the soul. With themes of drug addiction and suicide, it chronicles Vespucci’s personal battles through an intense fiction-meets-nonfiction lens. From the reflective chaos of “Recovery” to the redemptive blast of “Awake,” each track brings fans closer to their emotional reckoning.

Vespucci comments:

“This EP has the real and raw emotion behind it, unlike some other previous pieces of work, as we were finding our sound. What I want people to take away from this album after listening to it is a personal reflection on oneself. Never straying too far from your path by getting lost in the darkness. Also, realizing other people in this world are dealing with the same pain you might be experiencing, and it’s okay to feel like that, just know there is always a way out back into the light.”

The writing process is led by John Hruby and Angelo Vespucci, blending communal riff-building with emotionally charged lyricism. The band’s evolution from high school chaos to mature sonic expression is evident throughout the EP’s structure and themes. Musically, the band channels influences like Reflections, Chelsea Grin, and Lorna Shore, while pulling inspiration from genres such as melodic deathcore and progressive metalcore.

The chilling album artwork for “Nothing” features a demon forcing a chalice on a resisting figure, a metaphor for battling addiction and the constant struggle to reclaim control. It’s as haunting and visceral as the music it represents.

“Sterilizing the Deceased know how to incorporate some vivid, resonating melodies into their deathcore structuring and it makes the listen more memorable for it.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Here’s a brand new single for the Deathcore fans out there. If you like bands like Chelsea Grin and I Declare War, chances are you may dig this. Sterilizing The Deceased is an up-and-coming band hailing from Cleveland, Ohio. They’re known for bringing the heavy and that’s exactly what they do with this new single. It’s called “Forgotten” and it certainly packs a punch with the weight of its breakdowns and the delivery of some melodic riffs. Check it out and show the dudes some support if you dig it.” – The Circle Pit (2015)

Canadian death metal quartet Harvested is now streaming their next death metal opus “Dysthymia”, and have teamed up with Slam Worldwide to give fans their first complete experience of the band’s most ambitious work one day before its official August 1st release. The full album premiere represents the culmination of a journey that began in late 2022, when the band started crafting the material that would become their sophomore effort. They share their excitement:

“Our amalgamation of styles and influences can be heard in this album, and we can’t wait to present it to the world, considering the 2022 EP did so well, and it was just our debut. It’s a level up in production, songwriting, and musical prowess, so this album will be what Harvested is all about. Heavy, aggressive, in-your-face experience; riffs that hook and engage the listener and keep them wanting more.”

“Dysthymia” presents nine tracks of devastating extreme metal that seamlessly blend technical proficiency with crushing brutality. The thematic focus on mental illness provides a cohesive narrative thread throughout the 31-minute runtime, with each track exploring different aspects of psychological struggle through the lens of extreme metal aggression. This approach represents a maturation from their earlier work, maintaining brutality while adding psychological depth.

The partnership with Slam Worldwide for the premiere recognizes the album’s impact within the brutal death metal and slam communities, while acknowledging the band’s broader appeal across multiple death metal subgenres. Harvested is recommended for fans of Cattle Decapitation, Decapitated, and Cannibal Corpse.

“Canadian death metal band Harvested announce their new album Dysthymia, out August 1. The record will be their first release since their 2022 demo and blends technical, brutal and old-school death metal into a sound all their own.” – Decibel Magazine

“Your muscles are about to reflexively twitch, your head is about to hammer, your pulse is about to accelerate. Audio worms will slither into your ear canals and take up residence there. Some of your cranial neurons may start spinning, creating visions of fast devils and hulking monsters. Those are our predictions of what will happen when you see and hear the playthrough video we’re premiering for the song “Synaptic Confusion” by the Ottawa-based death metal band Harvested. It’s an excellent way to rev up your own motor as Harvested rev up theirs.” – No Clean Singing

“After knocking the first three tracks out of the park like a home run into the stratosphere, “Synaptic Confusion” goes harder and faster during an opening onslaught second to none before getting menacing and sinister with a slower churn and burn. A violent delight with a catchy hook and a scream-a-long lyrical narrative in the chorus, its the kind of blunt force trauma that everyone can enjoy without a visit to the hospital. Maintaining the quality levels of both musicianship and song writing throughout the record seems like an impossibility of reason and yet its probably why this record took three years to complete because “Designed Dilemma” is another absolute beast. It’s like the band have taken your favourite Death Groove Thrash cut and adrenalized it by mainlining caffeine until their eyes pop out on stalks. The energy levels are as ridiculous as the poise and precision as the band conjure a Technical Death Metal tune of the highest order.” – Metal Noise

“The Ottawa, Canada-based death metal band’s full-length demo of 2025 does the job. As evidenced by the cover artwork and title – Dysthymia refers to a persistent depression – the theme here is mental illness. Songs like Repressed Neurosis, Unending Madness and Synaptic Confusion tell the tale. One thing remains steadfast: the band’s sound comes across as Cannibal Corpse meets Cryptopsy meets Suffocation. The lyrics mention “human waste” at one point. The aforementioned Synaptic Confusion is a highlight with a gigantic chord and a loud bass. Gathered And Deluded is another good one. It has nifty speed riffing. Designed Dilemma delivers a delicious solo. This is meat and potatoes death metal that is tight and accomplished… this is the type of release death metal fans would cherish.” – Metallian.com

‘Dysthymia’ is a very solid album… fans of groovy technical death metal have a new act to keep an eye on.” – Musika

““Dysthymia” is a compact and focused death metal release that balances aggression with detail. It shows a band that is tight in both concept and execution. There are no gimmicks or over-the-top theatrical elements—just well-structured, intense music with a consistent vision. Fans of fast, brutal death metal with a psychological edge will find this to be a strong release. Recommended for fans of Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Aborted, and Suffocation.” – Heavy Metal Darkness

“The atmosphere of the album is… unhealthy. It’s very inviting for headbanging. But be careful! There is a risk of pulling your neck.I forgive the Canadian band „Harvested“ 8 out of 10 Hellfire points.” – Hellfire Magazine

“Technical Death Done Right, with Grit and Groove… This is not just a video (Synaptic Confusion Playthrough). It’s a lesson in precision, aggression, and musical chemistry. From the first riff to the last blast beat, it’s clear these guys aren’t here to play games. They’re here to prove they belong in the same room as Cannibal Corpse , Cryptopsy , and Suffocation .” – Radio Papy Jeff

“Canadian technical death metal act Harvested has once again raised the bar for musicianship with the release of their “Synaptic Confusion” playthrough video. As anticipation builds for their upcoming full-length album Dysthymia, dropping August 1st, this video offers fans and industry pros an up-close look at the band’s intricate performance dynamics and creative evolution. Captured with precision and energy, the playthrough reinforces Harvested’s position at the forefront of modern death metal’s technical vanguard.” – See Rock Live

“When it comes to songwriting, HARVESTED is on the right track and can easily face international competition with its official debut.” – PowerMetal.de

0 Rockshots Records – METATRONE Reveals New Music Video For Single “Facsimile” From Fifth Studio Album Coming In 2026

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 30, 2025

METATRONE Reveals New Music Video For Single “Facsimile” From Fifth Studio Album Coming In 2026

After marking their return with the spiritually-charged “Emmaus”, Italian Christian Catholic metal veterans Metatrone unveil their new single “Facsimile”, the second track from their upcoming fifth studio album set for release in 2026.

“Facsimile” is more than just a song – it’s a powerful manifesto against artistic conformity and imitation. Musically, the track blends razor-sharp riffs, progressive arrangements, and melodic choruses, channeling the band’s signature power-prog style with an aggressive thrash edge.

Written by founding duo David Brown and Stefano “Ghigas” Calvagno, the track openly challenges the rise of tribute culture and invites musicians to embrace their true selves, creatively and spiritually.

Keyboardist David Brown comments:

“This song challenges artists to invest in themselves with honesty and originality, without resorting to imitation. As Jesus says in John 8:32, ‘The truth will set you free.’ We believe that truth lies in embracing your uniqueness.”

Guitarist Ghigas adds:

“The tribute band phenomenon has gone from a fun curiosity to something grotesque. It’s strange – and sad – to see talented musicians devote so much effort to copying artists who are still active. Music is about truth, not imitation.”

“Facsimile” also reflects the band’s ongoing evolution. With Jo Lombardo back on vocals and Simone Alberti (drums) and Alex Palazzo (bass) solidifying the current lineup, Metatrone‘s sound has grown sharper, more dynamic, and emotionally charged — a balance of faith-driven lyrics, technical complexity, and metal intensity.

Stay tuned!

LOUD AS HELL OPEN AIR FESTIVAL 2025 kicks off this week with REVOCATION, FIRST FRAGMENT, FILTH, INSURRECTION, GORGATRON, OPAL IN SKY, and more!

Hosted in the barren expanse of sculpted sandstone, wind-carved hoodoos, and the vast canyons of Alberta, Canada’s badlands, one of the country’s loudest decibel-breaking extreme music events, Loud As Hell Open Air Festival returns for its 13th edition in Drumheller, AB from August 1st to 3rd at the Dinosaurs Down Stampede to showcase the best up-and-coming Canadian and international talent to roar through the country’s largest dinosaur fossil grounds.

This year’s festivities will witness technical death metal masters Revocation headline the Sunday, August 3rd, lineup. The band unveiled their latest 2025 single and music video “Confines of Infinity,” featuring brutal guest vocals from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan. The single also marks the debut of a new Revocation lineup that sees vocalist and guitarist Dave Davidson joined by drummer Ash Pearson–who has been in the band since 2015–bassist Alex Weber, and guitarist Harry Lannon. Revocation formed in 2006, and their self-released debut, Empire of the Obscene, came out in 2008. Since then, they’ve released seven critically acclaimed albums and have toured the world, bringing their technically charged, high-energy extreme metal to rabid fans in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Music Video – Confines of Infinity (ft. Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation) – https://youtu.be/h6Nez7ikOm4

Also on the Sunday lineup will be Insurrection, the powerhouse metal band from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. Formed over 20 years ago (2003), the band is known for its intense and energetic performances. Their sound is a unique twist of groovy death metal mixed with a healthy dose of thrash energy. The band has released several albums, including “Prologue” (2008), “Fracture” (2010), “Prototype” (2013), “Extraction” (2017), and “Obsolescence” (2024) (Bam Co. Heavy). Their music often addresses social and political themes through bilingual lyrics in both English and French. The band has gained a notable reputation on stage throughout Canada with tours covering coast to coast, including performances at festivals such as Montebello Rockfest, Trois-Rivières Metalfest, and Decimate Metalfest. Music Video – The Gathering – https://youtu.be/OloWe37IY04

Headlining Saturday, Aug 2nd, Montreal, QC’s First Fragment will display their virtuosity and demonstrate why they are so beloved globally for their Neoclassical/Technical Extreme Metal. The band broke ground with their debut EP “The Afterthought Ecstasy” (2010). Their latest two albums, “Dasein” (2016), “Gloire éternelle(2021), and the latest instrumental compilation record, “Le Recueuil Des Âges” (2024), have been released on Unique Leader Records. Music Video – Pantheum – https://youtu.be/4mU_qLoa3Ds

Saturday will also feature LAH alumni Gorgatron, guttural Death Metal out of Fargo, North Dakota. Their sound is based on a “love of the riff” approach to writing and is rooted in the old-school stylings of Death Metal and Thrash. They have honed their style and work ethic with rigorous DIY tours across the States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. They have a slew of records under their belts with their latest “Sentience Revoked” (2024) (Redefining Darkness Records) and just this past January, they unleashed a digital EP “Live From the Basement”. It was originally set to be released on Adult Swim’s ‘Fish Center Live’ in 2020, but was shelved due to Adult Swim shutting down their livestream division that same year. Music Video – Absorbency – https://youtu.be/oZ_0uqAh5fc

The festival’s first day on Friday, Aug 1st, will be headlined by hip-hop-influenced deathcore gutter gang Filth out of North Carolina. They dropped the next chapter in their discography, Southern Hostility, in April 2024. Music Video – Opp Stoppers – https://youtu.be/DUl3DPXdCBY

Also on Friday are Vancouver, BC’s Opal in Sky, twin brothers Tyson and Dylon Opalinsky. They share a deep passion for music and its limitless possibilities. Their music reflects their shared values and beliefs. They believe that music has the power to heal, uplift, and bring people together. They are committed to creating meaningful and enjoyable music, and their unique sound is a fusion of different styles and influences. They released their debut album, “Dream Shift,” in July 2024. Music Video – Those Who Wait – https://youtu.be/w6KmSMB2zGs

Other highlights for this year’s open-air are Toronto’s Beguiler, champions of last year’s 2024 Wacken Metal Battle Canada; the slamming deathcore of Arizona’s Gore Pig; Mexico’s Spit On Your Grave, showcasing their powerful, deep growls, blast beats, slam riffs, and heavy breakdowns, all infused with a melodic touch; and Vancouver’s Thirteen Goats, with their signature blend of infernal riffs, huge hooks, and uniquely theatrical songwriting.

What the press is saying:

“Located an hour and a half east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, Alberta. With a population in the neighborhood of 8000 and existing smack dab in the middle of Canada’s desert and dinosaur country, it’s not a place one would immediately associate with any sort of metal scene, let alone a big-ass outdoor metal fest. But that’s where you’d be wrong. Going into its 11th year, the Loud as Hell Festival is set to roll on August 4-6th with the likes of Narcotic Wasteland, Jungle Rot and Incite headlining three days of metallic fun featuring 40 or so bands, including The Convalescence, Gorgatron, Necronomicon, Untimely Demise, Eyes of Perdition and more.” – Decibel Magazine

“Western Canada’s loudest heavy metal festival brings fans to town more known for dinos than drum solos.” – CBC Calgary

“What’s more metal than the badlands? Drumheller, AB, is known for being the dinosaur capital of the world — but it’s also the home of the Loud as Hell festival, an event celebrating none other than the loudest music known to man (and, by proxy, prehistoric reptile).” – Exclaim!

“Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment. The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metalhead fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.” – Blackfalds Life

“Headbanger alert: Loud As Hell festival to ramp up the volume” – Calgary Herald

“Nevermind the bug spray and sun tan lotion, as August approaches Drumheller residents should stock up on earplugs.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud As Hell returns to the southern Alberta city for its seventh year and as its name implies, will rock the city to its core.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud as Hell has celebrated eight years in the Badlands to date, with acts from all over the world-shattering the peace and quiet of the hills in a camping and music extravaganza.” – Hanna Herald

“Drumheller with its dinosaur bones is the site of the annual Loud as Hell heavy metal festival Friday through Sunday. Dozens of the heaviest bands known to Man will be taking the stage, many of them Canadian” – Gig City

Set to kick off their festival blitz with their first performance on August 3rd at Loud As Hell Open Air in Drumheller, AB alongside Revocation, Insurrection, Gorepig, Cyborg Octopus, Squidhammer, Beguiler, and lots more, Vancouver’s genre-bending metal juggernaut Thirteen Goats is welcoming fans to enter their “Animal Kingdom” with their latest music video featuring guest vocals from Carly Ellen Jones.

The closing track from the band’s latest album, “Capricorn Rising” (released in July 2024 via Exitus Stratagem Records), “Animal Kingdom” is the biggest musical risk that the band has taken yet. It starts out with an unsettling pattern of clean, arpeggiated chords, before a wall of cascading guitar melodies and haunting clean vocals crash in for the verses.

From there, ominous grooves and wailing leads build up to a cathartic duet between Jones and lead singer Graham K. Miles, which shifts into a ferociously heavy climax and an angular final riff that terminates in a single bass note reminiscent of an atomic bomb going off. Not only is it a fitting conclusion to the record, but it’s a sign of how the band’s sound will likely continue to evolve on future releases.

The music video shows the band members performing a summoning ritual that ends with them falling under the spell of the demon they conjured (played by Jones).

“It’s classic be-careful-what-you-wish-for stuff,” says Miles. “In that sense, it’s thematically true to the subject matter of the song, which is a warning about the seductive appeal of extremist movements and the consequences of becoming radicalized.”

Miles, who also directed the video, said he was heavily inspired by the works of filmmaker David Lynch, who passed away in early 2025. “His art was fantastical and surreal,” Miles says, “but it was always about real and contemporary issues under the surface. We’re aiming in the same direction with this video and this record.”

In additional news, Thirteen Goats have also been nominated by the Western Canadian Music Awards (
https://breakoutwest.ca/awards) for Metal & Hard Music Artist of the Year alongside Anciients, Torrefy, Art of Attrition, and Holy Void.

Known for their punishing live shows, razor-sharp riffs, and tongue-in-cheek lyrical savagery, Thirteen Goats have carved out a unique niche by fusing numerous metal subgenres and delivering the results with a theatrical twist. The quartet unleashed their sophomore LP “Capricorn Rising” in July 2024 via Exitus Stratagem Records. The concept album tells the story of their mascot, Shepherd: a goat-skull-wearing Antichrist who raises an army of animals to liberate the earth from humanity’s constant wars and greed.

Each song on the record is part of a broader narrative that explores themes of disillusionment, radicalization, and rebellion as Shepherd and his 12 demon goats wage their crusade. This storytelling approach takes listeners on a journey through the darkest aspects of both human and animal nature across nine tracks that combine elements of death metal, thrash, and groove.

Listeners should expect furious riffage, ambitious song structures, and even occasional female guest vocals (courtesy of guest artist Carly Ellen Jones). What they shouldn’t expect is a record that plays it safe or falls neatly into one specific subgenre. Thirteen Goats is recommended for fans of Lamb of God, Carcass, and Mastodon.

Released on July 12, 2024, “Capricorn Rising” is available from Exitus Stratagem Records at https://www.exsrmusic.com/store/p/pre-sale-thirteen-goats-capricorn-rising

“It’s really strong. GREAT musicians, great production, as well as a very progressive aspect without losing the darkness.” – Kelly Shaefer from Atheist

“take a spin around the room with Thirteen Goats’ “high-concept narrative” and take on modern metal stylized by everything from Mastodon and Carcass to Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God.” – Decibel Magazine

“Tinnitist Album of The Week! Thirteen Goats ‘Capricorn Rising’ – Exitus Stratagem Records – https://tinnitist.com/2024/07/11/albums-of-the-week-thirteen-goats-capricorn-rising/

“All in all, on “Capricorn Rising” the gentlemen from the West Coast combine the universal power of North American thrash metal into a versatile, interesting and, above all, powerful record. 8/10″ – Power-Metal.de

“What makes this turbocharged song (Sign of The Goat) so damned much diabolical fun is the band’s melding of viscerally compulsive grooves, head-spinning instrumental pyrotechnics, and rapid-fire vocal assaults — and doing so in a way that makes the track highly infectious too. The song vividly intersects with the tech-death sphere through flurries of quickly darting, swirling, and swarming riffage, deliriously cavorting arpeggios, and a multitude of percussive fusillades. As displayed in the video, fingers and limbs fly like the wind, and the guttural barks and hair-raising screams in the vocal department rhythmically eject the violent words just as fast and just as furiously. But, as forecast, the song is also a viscerally groovesome beast. It’s almost relentlessly hard-slugging, but what really stands out are brutish, muscle-galvanizing jackhammer-bursts, the first of which comes only 25 seconds into the track. Another one of those episodes sets itself up as the backdrop for crazed guitar soloing that sounds like the ecstasies of fiends. And we did warn you — this thing is also immediately catchy and enduringly addictive. It comes recommended for fans of Bolt Thrower, Archspire, and Lamb of God.” – NoCleanSinging

“To get some idea of Thirteen Goats’ approach to heavy music, consider that the Straight’s own Mike Usinger once asked readers to imagine “Vulgar Display of Power-era Pantera in a cage match with Cannibal Corpse and Ministry.” That’s a great start, but it doesn’t account for tracks like “Beheading Zoo”, which tops neck-snapping thrash with enough throat-shredding black-metal screams to please even the most discerning Mayhem fan. Or “Murder Lives in the Heart”, which throws a soaring refrain of heaven-sent clean vocals (courtesy of Carly Ellen Jones) into the mix… Capricorn Rising is that rarest of things in today’s world: a true album, with a set of songs designed to be listened to in sequence. Those songs tell the tale of Shepherd, a man so distraught over the state of the world—endless wars, environmental devastation, and other human-made disasters—that he sells his soul for the power to communicate with non-human creatures… Capricorn Rising is a saga replete with scorched-earth mayhem and mass slaughter—something you can bang your head to while pondering your own complicity in the global capitalist exploitation of ecosystems and peoples alike. In other words, it’s basically the perfect LP for our profoundly fucked-up epoch.” – Georgia Straight (Vancouver Weekly)

“they turn on the thrusters for “Beheading Zoo” and “Permission To Die,” closer “Animal Kingdom” is a quasi-ballad with a ferocious second half. ” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“their music gets the blood pumping. Sounding something like Archspire mixed with Blackening-era Machine Head, the tracks on Capricorn Rising are direct and violent. ” – Metal Utopia

“I’d say this is melodic death, some brutal death stuff, melodic music, black metal vox, growns and clean vox too.” – 89.9 WORT FM – The Moshpit (Madison, WI)
