ASYLENCE Rip Through Intense Riffs And Melodic Twists In “In Solidarity We Die” Off “Endanger Us All”

New Album “Endanger Us All” Out February 2023

Forged from the melting pot of Detroit’s underground metal scene, Asylence is a well-oiled metal machine built with passion, intent, and ferocity like no other. They are gearing up to release their first full-length “Endanger Us All” next year and to whet the appetite of listeners they are dropping their single “In Solidarity We Die” this month. The track is guitarist Aaron Lumsden’s favorite track and for good reason. The guys really put their heads together on this one—musically this song just rips with a melodic twist on the chorus. The band dogs into the meaning behind it:

“The song to us sounds like it was written by the last person on Earth, writing the final texts about the tragic failing of humankind that brought us to our doom. It’s one of those songs where the message is pretty straightforward, that we are all eventually going to die so why not be good to one another and recognize each of us is the same lost creature on this planet? We are lucky children of this Earth, we are no better than the animals we share the planet with. We need to take care of our home, or we will lose it all.”

The timeline for writing the album was pretty wide with the pandemic hampering some of it, but ultimately it came together in the way it was meant to be. Each of the songs are personal, the riffs are impressive and the band confidently remarks that it is their best effort yet and anyone who likes what they do is going to love it. Listeners are going to recognize their signature sound for sure but they will be pleasantly surprised with some new angles that they decided to take with this one.

When it comes to live performance, fans can expect to bang their heads,, while taking in an onslaught of fast death metal he emphasizes a certain deathly serious vibe to the stage which translates gravely to the crowd; prepare to rock out while contemplating the meaning of existence.

The single “In Solidarity We Die” is recommended for fans of Devildriver, In Flames, and Amon Amarth.

About: Asylence (uh-sigh-lence): A hybrid of the words Asylum and Silence, when joined together, present a universal idea and timeless message: The constant suffering and failures of mankind. After the dissolution of drummer Alex Aubuchon’s highly active, long-standing thrash band, he began to focus his efforts on recruiting for his new project. He discovered the talent of guitarist Aaron Lumsden, an avid scene supporter who frequented many local and regional shows.

A dedicated relationship quickly formed between the pair, and Asylence was born. Frontman Ryan Lang, having been a mainstay in the Detroit metal scene but group-less at the time, was Asylence’s first choice to handle vocal duties. Ryan accepted, excited at the idea of hitting the stage once again. Shortly after, bassist Richard Olrich joined the group to complete the sound. A new era of heavy metal ensued.

Forged from the melting pot of Detroit’s underground metal scene, Asylence is a well-oiled metal machine built with passion, intent, and ferocity like no other. Since their formation in 2016, Asylence has been on a path of sonic destruction as they crush their audiences with fierce live performances throughout Michigan and surrounding states, opening for national acts such as Archspire, Belphegor, and Sea of Treachery, among others. Taking no prisoners and amassing a loyal, respecting fan base in the Midwest and beyond, behold the rise of Asylence.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 16, 2022

Out Now! Rockshots Records – HIGHWAY QUEEN’s New Album “Bitter Soul” + Music Video “Hey”

Rockshots Records will be releasing Finnish rockers Highway Queen‘s debut full-length “Bitter Soul” is now out as of December 16th via Rockshots Records. For the album’s release day, the band is sharing their latest music video for the record’s opening track “Hey”, a classic 80’s style hard rock song that tells the story about feeling lust for someone, but you are unfortunately stonewalled.

Highway Queen‘s new album “Bitter Soul” is a collection of 80s-influenced rock and metal songs with beautiful melodies, and strong riffs complimented with heavy drums and bass. Songs on “Bitter Soul” are all about scenarios in one’s life. The lyrics tell stories about gnawing the burden of shame, anger, and bitterness. They also talk about the burden that carries through generations. They are about people’s weaknesses too. The stories are also about overcoming these challenges.

“Every song has its own mood so feeling vary throughout the album. There are parts in the album with bluesy vibes to parts that have strong doom or even thrash vibes. It all blends together with a touch of 80’s style. Every song on the record has its own mood.” adds the band.

Highway Queen is a band that plays melodic hard rock with some metal influences. The band was founded at the end of 2019 by vocalist Virpi Kääriäinen, guitarist Teemu, Kääriäinen and drummer Henri Backman. All members have played in cover band projects in the past and decided it was time to start making their own creations.

In 2020, the band self-released four singles on digital platforms. Also in 2020, the band acquired bassist Petri Orava and they recorded more songs to be released. In 2021, the band signed with Finnish record label Inverse Records for releasing three singles and a music video. The songs had a great reception, and the band continued moving forward to start working on their first album. All Highway Queen songs are recorded with Aleksanteri Kuosa, so he was a natural choice to be the producer for the full-length. He has also worked with bands like Waltari and Before The Dawn.

Highway Queen is recommended for fans of melodic hard rock, heavy rock, and NWOTHM.

Streaming Now! Canada’s THE WRING Release Concise, Humble Progressive Album “Spectra”

New Album “Spectra” Out Dec 16th, 2022 via WormHoleDeath Records

The Wring, hailing from Sudbury, Canada is proud to be releasing their third album “Spectra”, which is an assertive mix of different styles including hard rock, jazz, metal, classical, 80’s rock, and 70’s rock. Solo artist Don Dewulf brought the idea to a myriad of professional players to form the full-length and the wide range of influences are apparent on the record with a vivid progressive sound that is tight, concise, and well-executed with interesting melody, rhythm, and lyrical themes. He comments on the album:

“I am very proud of the compositions on this album. Prog music can tend to be grandiose; I wanted this album to be the opposite of that. I like to think that the guitar parts are interesting and somewhat unique and span a very wide range of styles, influences, and execution. The vocals come straight out of the 80s with great melody and delivery, offering a very grounded counterpoint to the, often, odd time and melody structure. There are also keyboards hidden in the mix that offer an almost subliminal base on which everything else is built. The cover has a cool 70’s vibe that is simple but offers a depth of meaning that will be very personal to each observer; a reflection of the musical content within.”

Dewulf is local to Sudbury, Canada, and the project is his vision. In order to see it through, he hired Marco Minnemann – a world-renowned drummer, member of The Aristocrats, and successful solo artist who is one of the best rock/prog drummers in the world. Chandler Mogel – amazing singer with a great 80’s vibe who has performed with a ton of bands and projects. Reggie Hache – a Canadian bass superstar who does his own thing and contributed incredible parts for this album and Isamu McGregor – a session keyboard player with great vision and feel.

“Spectra” was produced by Don Dewulf, mixed by Francis Perron at Radicart Studios, mastered by Yannick St-Amand, and the album artwork was done by Gord Woolley.

The performances are tight and meaningful covering a wide range of approaches, but still cohesive and very accessible for any kind of listener. They are recommended listening for fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Rush.

“Spectra” is due out on December 16, 2022, via WormHoleDeath Records.

“Here’s one for prog dorks. This outfit’s third outing (Spectra) features drums by Marco Minnemann so you know the rhythms are mad. The regulars in the band ain’t slouches either though. This is intricate and melodic prog done well.” – Metal Injection

““Wring² Project Cipher comes with a heavy, classic rock feel, but there’s an epic, questing nature to tunes like Sorceress, Steelier and Dose that pushes The Wring beyond metal norms and into prog territory.” – Prog Magazine

“The extreme professionalism on display throughout this entire album, although a labour of love, is a true master class of musicianship performed by musicians who are truly at the top of their game, making the industry what it is today. The sheer attention to detail is a credit to each and every performer as they tailor their craft neatly and precisely throughout every track, with nothing less than perfect being the order of the day.” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Overall, the entire album is laden with a rich tapestry of sound and lyrics, well thought out and carefully developed by founder member and visionary Don Dewulf, taking the listener on that perfect journey of thought, and is a credit to its makers gathering no dust in any collection. 10/10” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Thanks to his renowned session musicians and original compositions, The Wring is a refreshing discovery that offers a personal reading of modern metal. 4/5” – Music Waves

“What sounds at first to be a straight-forward rock album, turns out to be so much more. It’s a tad short, but sometimes less is more. You can hear many influences in these tracks, some of them familiar, but The Wring have stamped their own identity all over it. This should keep you going for the time being but expect more from Don Dewulf with The Wring3 already in the recording stage!” – The Prog Space

“Dewulf’s guitar work shines throughout, at times reminiscent of Alex Lifeson in his prime, such as his powerful solo on ‘Steelier’ which soars above the raging musical maelstrom below. There’s even a funk-infused breakout on ‘Dose’, which is infectious with its driving hook. It’s an absorbing record, one that takes time to soak in, but several plays ensure that it’s burnt deep into the memory. When those end-of-year lists come round, ‘Wring² Project Cipher’ is likely to be pushing for a slot.” – The Razor’s Edge

“The Wring generally succeed at what they’re going for—Dewulf has produced a fun, catchy record. Particularly on the album’s middle section (“Cipher,” “Steelier” and “Dissension”), there’s some great songs with great riffs. If you’re after some new prog, you could do a lot worse than this album, and I found it quite hard to score.” – Angry Metal Guy

From British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley in Canada, Nomad has been making a name for themselves locally for the last several years, playing at local fests and supporting big-name acts in the extreme metal scene. Now they have their debut album “The Mountain” ready for consumption and their blend of progressive, groovy death metal is sure to impress existing fans and entice new listeners. Their first single “Burning Alive” was the first song they wrote together, pieced together at their very first jam. The lyrics were inspired by the heat of that day, and the careless ignition of forest fires. They added blazing riffs, smokey vocals, and smooth bass lines to round it out, making it an impressive introduction to Nomad. They share their thoughts on the album:

“We’re hoping that it fills the need for a little groove in the metal scene. We’ve spoken to many people in the audience after playing a show that say there are not enough bands like Nomad out there that like to slow it down and catch you with a good hook once in a while. We feel that many emotions and influences can be felt throughout this album and are sure to keep the listeners engaged and entertained with heavy riffs, blasting beats, and dynamic vocals.”

There have been a few lineup changes in Nomad since their inception and each one of those members has left their mark on the band’s music. They’ve always worked collaboratively, one member bringing in the skeleton of a song and it being workshopped until it meets everyone’s standard. This had led to masterful consistency, present in every groovy riff, every chunky chord, and throughout the blasting of drums.

The single “Burning Alive” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“The Mountain” will be released on March 3, 2023, and was mixed by drummer Bretton Melanson and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy). It is recommended for fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, and Pantera.

About: Nomad is a dynamic, progressive death metal band from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and consists of drummer/vocalist Bretton Melanson; guitarist/vocalist Matt Johnstone; guitarist/vocalist Jeff Mabb; plus bassist Josh MacDonald. Kickstarted by Johnstone who was looking for an outlet, he approached Melanson and since the material felt right and with their previous history playing together, the ball was rolling. Over a few years, there was a lineup flux, with each additional leaving their mark on the material. Ultimately, they then recruited Mabb as a second guitarist and MacDonald on bass, and working collaboratively, they weave their melodic, groovy death metal.

Looking to avoid the violence and gore tropes that are quite prominent in metal music, they tend to tell stories based on fictional characters, historical events, science fiction, and astrophysics. Each member adds their own flair to the songs, imprinting their distinct influences.

When they hit the stage, the audience is greeted by multiple vocalists that deliver a massive wall of layered sound, integrated sound effects, and a well-thought-out visual element. They played Canada’s prominent Armstrong Metalfest in 2016-2019 and performed alongside bands such as Kataklysm, Origin, Soulfly, and Alestorm. They are releasing their debut album “The Mountain” in 2023.

Rockshots Records – Tolkien Inspired Power Metallers RuinThrone New Music Video “I Am The Night”

New Album “The Unconscious Mind Of Arda” Out Jan 2023

With a month until the release of their new J.R.R. Tolkien-inspired sophomore album “The Unconscious Mind Of Arda” due out this coming January 2023 via Rockshots Records,Italian fantasy power metallers RuinThrone are sharing with fans their latest music video for the single “I Am The Night”. In this song, the band tells the fair approval brought by those who dare to go in the opposite direction. The song is dedicated to those who bring divergence, for those who have the courage to be a dissonant voice. Morgoth is the symbol of all this; in the Iluvatar theme he refused to play music, which was supposed to be well-tuned with the others, instead, he played a dissonant melody. This daring action will be a messenger of new creations. Banished in the void, alone, the song imagines Morgoth laughing at his punishments while completing his work.

The band adds about the track:

“Talking about which song would every one of us would have picked as a single, everybody agreed we needed at least one to be a kick-ass power metal song. That kind of song that, while playing live, you can see people flying in the venue and head banging till the end. So the choice was between this one and Blessed By Loneliness. It wasn’t easy to choose, but eventually, we choose I Am The Night. The chorus is so epic, Haedus reaches the highest notes of his vocal extension and it’s also easy to be sung by the audience. The guitar and keys solos are so rad and fast, the double bass drum, the duration of the song…there was no other choice, but pick this one.”

Digital at https://bfan.link/i-am-the-night

Ruinthrone‘s “The Unconscious Mind Of Arda” is the follow-up totheir 2013 debut album “Urban Ubris”. “The Unconscious Mind Of Arda” is composed of storied songs inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s poem, “Legendarium”. The band hopes the concepts they wrote can be “messengers” of reflection for their listeners, turning in a better awareness of their daily life.

“With this album, we think we reached our own identity. Back in the early years, we started with a classic German power metal style, but year by year we changed and matured musically. This is why we use 7-string guitars with 1/2 step-down tuning, extreme vocals, etc. For this new record, we also focused on an alternative point of view of some stories written by Tolkien. We thought it would have been interesting to explore not only some interesting characters and heroes but also the mind of the main villains.” adds guitarist Nicolò de Maria.

“The Unconscious Mind Of Arda” is mixed and mastered by Giuseppe Orlando (sound tech for Rhapsody of Fire) at the Outer Sound Studios.

The album is due out on January 13th, 2023, and is available for pre-order at the following link – https://bit.ly/RuinThrone_CD

NIHILIST DEATH CULT’s (members ex-Pestilence, Abyss, Tribe of Pazuzu, Soulstorm) Release Video For “Obey & Consume” Off Debut “Death To All Tyrants”

Produced by Scott Middleton (ex-Cancer Bats)

Photo Credit – Ron Sumners (ex-Slaughter drummer)

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Nihilist Death Cult has recently released its debut album “Death To All Tyrants”. They are now releasing a video for the track “Obey & Consume”, which is about just following blindly and not questioning anything, and being a good consumer. The time to fight is always now, not later and it was inspired by John Carpenter’s “They Live”.

The video can be seen and heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The album “Death To All Tyrants” is in-your-face punk rock that combines angry riffs and hate-fuel lyrics about how the corporate-sponsored news media feeds you the stories and ideas they are paid to push. This record is about the victims standing up to the tyrants, it’s about choosing your own path and not blindly following norms if they don’t suit you. Bassist/vocalist Nick Sagias writes most of the music, but takes in input from his brother, drummer John Sagias and guitarist Ethan Bolduc. He shares their writing process:

“When I started writing for NDC, I knew that I wanted it to be aggressive, relentless, savage, no breakdowns, short songs, angry hardcore punk, the fact that my brother’s drumming fit perfectly in that and he was into it was a bonus for this otherwise it probably never would have happened. We just wanted to do this relentless style that we love and miss. Poison Idea, early DRI, early Bad Brains, the early dbeat bands, Discharge and GBH, that stuff gets the blood pumping and that’s the kinda stuff we wanna hear and see live.”

Those that get to witness Nihilist Death Cult play live can expect seasoned veterans going up on stage and putting on a show to match the energy of the music. There are no shoegazers here, just three passionate guys that want people to get into their music. They may be from Toronto but they are not a typical attitude Toronto band, they are the antithesis of that attitude.

The relatable lyrics are well enunciated making each of the nine songs on the album easy to pick up and get into. Nihilist Death Cult is recommended for fans of early DRI, early Bad Brains, and Nails.

The album was released on December 2, 2022 and is available at https://nihilistdeathcult.bandcamp.com

Rockshots Records – Out Now! Power Metallers HIGHLORD’s Ninth Studio Album “Freakin’ Out of Hell” + New Video “Soul Sucker”

Out Now! Italian Power metallers Highlord release their new album “Freakin’ Out of Hell” via Rockshots Records.

CD – https://bit.ly/Highlord_CD

For the album’s release day, the band is sharing their latest music video for the track “Soul Sucker”, the first song on the record. It welcomes the listener with a riff that is a punch in the face. It’s fast and raw, then it develops in a very catchy chorus, with a surprising breakdown before going into the next track. It also features some of the most aggressive vocal performances from Andrea Marchisio ever delivered. The guitar solo section slows down, with a dreamy fugue, before it gets fast and aggressive again until its conclusion. The lyrics deal with people that can almost drain us of our blood and souls, we’ve all met at least one in our lives.

Watch and listen to “Soul Sucker” at https://youtu.be/_FufiAVYl2U

Infusing heavy-power metal with progressive and symphonic influences was formed in Turin Italy in 1997, over the span of their career they have released eight albums, contributed to two tribute albums for Manowar and Helloween, have toured all over Europe and performed with Zak Steven’s Circle II Circle, Dark Moor, Freedom Call, Pino Scotto, Vision Divine, Elvenking, Sacred Steel, Seventh Wonder and more along with music featured on movie soundtracks for ‘The Werewolf Chronicles’ and ‘Blood Of The Werewolf’.

For their ninth album “Freakin’ Out Of Hell”, the band began recording it between May 2020 and December 2021. The album includes 11 tracks of pure power-metal in perfect Highlord style, but with a much more aggressive sound and a touch of prog-metal. Again the album has been recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced in-house by bass player Massimiliano Flak at Evolution Recording Studio (Italy). The album’s artwork was created by Harley Velasquez on a concept by Highlord.

The band adds about the ninth offering:

“Our debut; it’s been a joy to work with everyone to make these songs the best that they can be. The overarching theme is the onset, the snowballing, and the eventual climax of all of the negative thoughts leading to death. On Freakin’ out of Hell we have also set the average level of heaviness and aggression a bit higher; this is not a happy metal record, it’s a heavy metal piece that fully deserves this definition.”

Out Now! Israel’s Twisted Mind Release Debut EP “From Slave To Prophet” + New Video “Burning Grounds”

L- R – Lahav Zitiyat – Guitar, Oud, David Darash – Drums, Yanir Chmiel – Lead Vocals, Or Levy – Bass, Dan Saliman – Guitar, Bouzuki

Israel’s Twisted Mind is proud to share with the world their debut EP “From Slave To Prophet”. The band’s goal is to promote their self-dubbed “Happy Metal” and break the glass ceiling of musical genres. They’re an eclectic blend of modern Israeli oriental music and metal influences from a kaleidoscope of different musicians and bands that have inspired them.

“We really hope people could relate to this record. It’s a simple yet interesting experience would be the right way to describe it. You see, we are all great believers in the power of music to unite different worlds and traditions together. We hope and aspire that the new mix of cultures and sounds in our music will break the invisible wall and stigmas between the whole “genres culture”. On one hand, you can hear the strong and powerful metal shredding guitars. On the other hand, simple and catchy melodies and hooks from more “mainstream” kind’s musical genres. And to spice it all up, let’s not forget some beautiful enchanting oriental parts taken from our ancestor’s Middle Eastern and African heritage. Overall, we think our fans will love to hear something fresh, a little different, and most of all special and brand new!” adds the band.

This EP is all about the band’s timeline from when they started at the beginning of the pandemic and through the war of getting rock and roll less stigmatic. They didn’t come from great money and wealth. They are warriors, fighting hard and aiming to become something bigger, something that will bring people of the world together. And while they are on their way, they try to inspire people to fight for their beliefs, unite for a cause, open their minds to other points of view and create amazing things together, which will maybe make the world a better place. That’s why they choose “From Slave to Prophet” as the concept name for their EP.

For the EP’s release day, Twisted Mind is sharing their new music video for the track “Burning Grounds”, a protest song they wrote about the world as they see it today. Corruption in governments, violence, and problems of the world as they perceive them.

Watch and listen to “Burning Grounds” at https://youtu.be/p35mnLYIH5Y

Twisted Mind is a band that brings massive amounts of optimistic and positive energy and party vibes called “Hafla” in Israel.

“Hafla is some sort of a middle eastern party, a feast, a binge kind of celebration. We bring that feeling, elevated by a wall of massive distortions and intensity. “Happy Metal” if you will.” says the band.

Twisted Mind is recommended for fans of Muse, Dhafer Youssef, Orphaned Land, and Linkin Park.

“From Slave to Prophet” is now available on all digital platforms as of December 9th, 2022 at the following link: https://orcd.co/twistedfstp

About: The AOR rock/metal group Twisted Mind was founded in 2017 by Dan Saliman, an Israeli musician of a Yemenite & Moroccan-based heritage. Dan grew up in a home where oriental music was a Major part of his musical background

After a long process of creating a musical concept, Dan was joined by the other members, achieving this final line-up. The four joining members helped mold the sound, bringing their own styles, influences, and cultural heritage to Twisted Mind, thus creating a powerful combination of music that fuses the power and aggression of heavy metal, throughout the liberating energy of modern rock & roll.

And all this while using ethnical Middle Eastern music – emerging from their homeland and from the band members’ heritage and their own family ‘DNA’.Starting in San’aa –Yemen, through Istanbul – Turkey, passing through the deserts of Libya and traveling the long roads to a garage in Los Angeles.

Vancouver’s HUNTING GIANTS Shares Lyric Video For Iron Maiden Inspired Track “Into Stone”

New Album “Mythos” Out Now!

Canada’s Hunting Giants are sharing their next lyric video for the track “Into Stone” off their latest album “Mythos” released this past September. For this song, the band lets the gallop of the drums from Daniel Beavington set an almost power metal vibe as the vocals from Stephen Atkey set the stage for the story of war and words of victory, which is to come.

The band continues to explain:

“Double kicks and blazing bass frame the Iron Maiden-inspired chorus while the vocals incite the need to fight for what you believe as tomorrow may be too late. A vocal chant erupts in the bridge, which heralds those who have fought for valour as hints of the cello can be heard underneath the instrumentation.”

Watch and listen to “Into Stone” at https://youtu.be/hnuHSLoCLOM

“Mythos” new album is the crowning achievement of Hunting Giants‘ many years of musical work, writing, and recording while gigging and enduring quarantine as a band during the Covid pandemic. The members of Hunting Giants all came from, and are inspired by elements from prog, grunge rock, and various metal bands. The album’s goal is to grab listeners and amaze them with intricate woven stories, energetic riffs, and distinctive vocals. The album is meant to be an adventure, with each track having its own flavour and setting; the songs are worlds unto themselves. All of the music on the release contribute to a listening experience that is much more than the sum of its parts. The material is an addictive encounter that will keep you coming back.

The band adds:

“We are confident that new listeners, as well as those familiar with us through our previous release Skyward Eyes, will find a high caliber of intensity and listenability in Mythos that represents the musical growth and evolution of Hunting Giants. It’s a unique album expressed with a great diversity of energetic auditory textures. Each song hits hard with novel approaches and fresh ideas that will induce a comforting nostalgia in modern rock fans looking for something new and awesome.”

Hunting Giants is recommended for those who enjoy 90s grunge, heavy rock, and prog, especially fans of Alice In Chains, I Mother Earth, Soundgarden, Tool, and Audioslave.

About:
Hunting Giants is a four-piece heavy rock band from Vancouver, BC, Canada.

This unique group of musicians offers a spectacular visuals-driven live performance that exceeds both the precise ferocity of their recordings and the highest expectations of an energized audience looking for something recognizably different. Their music is both refreshing and familiar, serving well as the musical backdrop for one’s ongoing discovery of meaning in life and self.

Hunting Giants was started in 2017 with Bradley Trivett assembling the first musical themes and combining the percussive expertise of Daniel Beavington with the explosive rhythmic prowess of Corey J. Wharton into the foundation of a team set to discover and dominate the most enormous sounds and daunting massive ideas they could find. Led by the visionary passion and styling of frontman Stephen Atkey, Hunting Giants is poised to deliver an incredible auditory and visual experience.

“Hunting Giants stake their claim as a powerful new force in the Pacific Northwest metal scene…this band is absolutely one you’ll want to keep an eye on.” – Wail Magazine

“A glorious adventure is about to begin, starting right here today! Heavy metallers Hunting Giants are debuting their brand new music video for “Rituals,” the first single from their upcoming album Mythos. The song indicates the zeal and the ambition that the band is bringing towards this new record, due for release on September 30th. The “Rituals” video matches the flat-out intensity of the song, one that discusses necromancy and the harshness of hatred and shame.” – V13

“It’s not often that a band is described as ‘a blend of modern hard rock, progressive rock/metal and grunge influences,’ but that is indeed a fitting description of Vancouver’s Hunting Giants” – Bravewords

“Let me say this first, HUNTING GIANTS from Vancouver are REALLY freaking good. These guys are relatively new but they are tighter and more accomplished man many veteran bands.” – Rock You Show

“This is an album (Mythos) that you’ll want to wander through thanks to their technical proficiency and the production value.” – Metal Roos

“a solid listen, and a fairly unique combination of a few different styles. It’s mostly heavy enough for Metal fans, and mostly melodic enough for fans like myself who appreciate a good hook.” – Metal Temple

Wacken Metal Battle USA returns for 2023 to crown one independent band to perform on the world’s largest gathering of metalheads from around the world. To date, the battle has sent 4 previous bands to perform on metal’s most prestigious stage. 2022 witness San Diego’s Mythraeum crown champion, following previous winners San Diego’s Monarch (2019), Anaheim’s Voices of Ruin (2018) and Philadelphia’s Corpse Hoarder (2017).

WMBU Promoter and Artist Relations Eric Dow adds:

“I am very excited to announce Wacken Metal Battle USA 2023. The battle this year was extremely successful so we are not going to muck with the formula too much. One change is that I am happy to announce the addition of Salt Lake City to the battle. Who will wear the crown next year? Will San Diego be dethroned? Will Houston come up victorious? Will Akron send the champions to Germany? Make sure you follow the battle and find out who will represent the USA with pride in the battle at Wacken Open Air!

For the last 4 years of battles (2017-2019, 2022), Wacken Metal Battle USA has hosted battles across the country to send one independent metal band to perform at the world’s largest metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany. 2019 saw the festival celebrate its 30th anniversary, but due to Covid, the 2020 and 2021 editions were both canceled. As the metal community regains its strength, Wacken Open Air 2023 will be the 32nd edition of the festival and will be held from August 2nd to 5th. The 2023 event is already sold out with a line-up that includes Iron Maiden, Megadeth, The Dropkick Murphys, Wardruna, Jinjer, Beartooth, Trivium, Kataklysm and many more. Details here.

Wacken Metal Battle USA is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance of winning their spot among 29 other countries’ champions, and represent the USA in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade giving independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience along with the chance to win multiple prizes.

How it works:

Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter where one band will move forward to the American national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2023 and compete against the winners of 29 other countries in a final global battle.
