NARCOTIC WASTELAND Unveils New Single “Sex Lies & DNA” – A Dark Exploration of True Crime

+ Loud As Hell Festival w/ Jungle Rot, Incite, Necronomicon, The Convalescence

Renowned metal band Narcotic Wasteland, led by the talented Dallas Toler-Wade, is set to unleash their latest musical offering, a gripping single entitled “Sex Lies & DNA”. The track showcases the band’s signature intense sound, with haunting lyrics that delve into the intriguing world of true crime. Set for release on Friday, July 28, 2023, the song is expected to captivate audiences with its thought-provoking themes and powerful instrumentation.

With Dallas Toler-Wade on guitar and vocals, Brett Lee on lead guitar, Erik Schultek on drums, Kenji Tsunami on bass, and Joseph Howard and special guest Andrea_N_Black on vocals, “Sex Lies & DNA” features an impressive lineup of talented musicians whose synergy produces an electrifying sonic experience.

The single’s production was meticulously handled by Erik Schultek and Dallas Toler-Wade themselves at Level 3 Studios, resulting in a top-tier musical composition that expertly captures the essence of the band’s unique style. In a statement about the song, Dallas Toler-Wade shared his inspiration, stating:

“This song lyrically shows my ever-growing fascination with true crime. As I was working on this song, I asked myself a question. I asked myself what’s worse? A serial killer that has to ritual kill for power and control over the victim, or the husband or wife that kills their partner for a life insurance payout? It’s all equally bad, of course. The difference for me is I am fascinated with serial killers, but these other petty selfish murders like for money disgust me. While there are different reasons people kill, it all seems to stem from being a sociopath. The level of detachment and selfishness is astounding. And many of these murders, whether it be from a serial killer or more on the domestic side of things, drugs, and alcohol often play a role. Musically, “Sex Lies & DNA” showcases the band’s signature frantic tri-tonal riffing combined with an old-school speed metal/punk vibe, particularly evident in the powerful chorus chant.”

Dallas Toler-Wade’s songwriting prowess is evident as the track presents a challenging yet enthralling vocal and instrumental arrangement, featuring an exceptional guitar solo contributed by Brett Lee, followed by an impressive solo by Toler-Wade himself. The dedication to perfection even extends to the chorus, with multiple tracks recorded for the chant, including a contribution from their booking agent Andrea_N_Black.

To celebrate the release of “Sex Lies & DNA”, Narcotic Wasteland is embarking on a thrilling tour, treating fans across North America to their electrifying live performances. 0 Guitarist Sam Mooradian (Fallujah) Ready To Unleash Mind Bending Solo Prog Album “Bad Brain”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 28, 2023

Sam Mooradian (Fallujah) Ready To Unleash Mind Bending Solo Prog Album “Bad Brain”

Sam Mooradian – Photo Credit – Craig Etchison

Sam Mooradian is a progressive metal guitarist, composer, and creator based in Boston, USA. Since starting his guitar-centric YouTube channel, Mooradian has become the touring guitarist for Fallujah, co-founded band Inhale Existence, and has launched his self-titled solo project. He is ready to drop his debut album “Bad Brain”, which is inspired, musically and lyrically, by problems in the brain. It’s very groovy and catchy, but also dissonant and jarring merging the two in an organic, enjoyable way. Mooradian shares his excitement:

“Bad Brain feels like a musical companion to emotionally difficult times. It’s the result of years of trying to hone my own sound and style of prog metal while also navigating significant life changes and events, so it’s very fulfilling to have it finally released. I’ve always been driven to push all the elements of songwriting and structure to the absolute limit while keeping the music catchy and enjoyable; I think Bad Brain does that pretty well. Lots of crazy time signatures and tempo changes. Lots of untraditional arrangements. It’s dark, it’s melancholic, and it takes some interesting twists and turns. Hopefully, it’ll break your brain a little.”

Mooradian suggests that the best way to enjoy this thrill ride of an album is from front to back. He wrote with the album in mind, and in order, and wants people to be surprised by some of the risks and turns the record takes throughout its flow.

Mooradian started on a darker, more death metal-inspired path. He had a few EPs over the years that he didn’t do much with and the 2018 EP “Depression For Breakfast” feels like the strongest predecessor to his first full-length “Bad Brain”/his current sound. Those projects have led him here, playing a sound and style that he relates to the most naturally – ultra weird, dark, experimental prog.

Weird and challenging, “Bad Brain” was written, performed, produced, mixed, and mastered by Mooradian, with a handful of guests adding flavor. It is recommended for all prog fans, especially those who like to dig into the truly unique. It will especially be of interest to fans of Plini, Gorguts, and Animals As Leaders.

“Bad Brain” is out as of July 28th, 2023, and available on all digital platforms.

0 Rockshots Records – Prepare For A Thrash Feast From Finland’s TakaLaiton’s New Album “Mindfection” + New Visualizer “Mies Miestä Vastaan”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 28, 2023

Rockshots Records – Prepare For A Thrash Feast From Finland’s TakaLaiton’s New Album “Mindfection”

New Visualizer “Mies Miestä Vastaan”

Prepare yourselves for a thrash feast as Finland’s TakaLaiton is unleashing their debut album “Mindfection” produced by Teemu Aalto (Omnium Gatherum, Insomnium) available now as of July 28th, 2023 via Rockshots Records.

For the album’s release day, the band is sharing their latest visualizer for the track “Mies Miestä Vastaan”.

“One of the very first songs that we’re made to the album. Rehearsing this track probably started already in 2020 when we started to spin it back and forth, but Janne came up with the lyrics for it probably not sooner than 2021.” adds the band.

Watch and listen to “Mies Miestä Vastaan” at https://youtu.be/nRH7UWab-3I

Hailing from Finland’s far north, TakaLaiton garners a powerful melodic groove thrash-influenced attitude that is best seen in their super-energetic live shows that have always left fans with a sore neck and bruises from the moshpit. With a risk-taking thrash-fueled demeanor, TakaLaiton superbly blends fast-paced energy, and a bone-crushing groove, with melodies that can only be inspired by the dark, depressing, and frigid far-north. Not to mention the band’s lyrical onslaught, sung in both Finnish and English. Since their inception, the band has covered a lot of territories while on tour, bringing their rowdy stage presence to the Scandinavian regions, the rest of Europe, and Asian continents.

TakaLaiton has a “break the rules, exceed all limits” approach, as their name suggests; deriving from a Finnish baseball term for “swing the ball over the borders”. With that fierce frame of mind, the band has won “Heavy Metal Heart 11” a National Music Contest in Finland; and is ready to follow up their 2019 double EP “SisuKastraatio I & II” with 2023’s “Mindfection”, their first full-length that is based on today’s society, where we as people do everything to be a part of it and what’s sickening to the band is that people are ready to do anything in the name of couple minutes of fame. This album is based on this sick way our world has come to be.

“We are absolutely psyched about the album release and the fact it’s coming through Rockshots Records! We spent literally everything we had when it comes to effort on this album and the final result turned out to be magnificent with the producer Teemu Aalto. We think this will be the album that the TakaLaiton fans will consider a classic in the future. The well-known crushing sound and the rage are in there with the heartwarming melodies, which TakaLaiton fans are familiar with.” comments the band.

0 Rockshots Records – Cool Down From The Summer Heat w/ DYECREST’s New Single “Colder” Off New Album “Once I Had A Heart” Out Sept 2023

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 27, 2023

Rockshots Records – Cool Down From The Summer Heat w/ DYECREST’s New Single “Colder”

New Album “Once I Had A Heart” Out Sept 2023

With the summer heat intensifying, powerful melodic Finnish metallers Dyecrest (ft. members Metal de Facto, Thy Row, Everfrost, Kiowan Dynamo) have their single “Colder” to cool ya off and enjoy the season fun. The single is from their forthcoming album “Once I Had A Heart” due out September 2023 via Rockshots Records.

“The song is a bit older and was written by the late Kimmo Blom, who was at that point our singer. We kinda decided that “Now we’ll make a song, let’s do it!”. And I think it was only a couple of hours later when we had the song together. With the lyrics and the irresistible melodies that the song has! “

When we were thinking about what would be the best choice to be the first single, we ended up with Colder, ‘cause it’s catchy (without being cheesy! ;)) and a powerful song with a strong story!” says drummer Niko Takala.

Listen to “Colder” at the following links:

YouTube – https://youtu.be/iSWG7fZoGa0

Spotify – https://bfan.link/DyecrestColder

Dyecrest’s new album “Once I Had A Heart” features nine melodic melancholic tracks to follow their 2019 EP “The Stage Is Set” and 2018 album “Are You Not Entertained?”. Seven of the nine songs are brand new songs and two are a bit older but weren’t properly recorded at any point. This new record has some new “twists” in the songs, but still, the trademarks that Dyecrest is known for with their pounding and powerful anthems and strong vocal melodies with big choirs, accompanied by flashing guitar solos.

“The album overall is a tighter package than any previous Dyecrest album, and it lifts the band to a whole new level, for sure! On the album, there are some songs which have been written already some years ago (for example “Read My Mind” and “Man Made God”) as well as brand new songs, such as the title track “Once I Had a Heart”, the crushing opener “Sacred Sleep”, the bouncing and heavy “Oathkeeper” and the majestic and powerful half-ballad “Fire From Your World”, which also ends the album with it’s the heartbreaking atmosphere.” adds Niko Takala.

Guitarist Matti Pasanen also adds:

“This is the album, which in my opinion is reflecting the sound of Dyecrest in the best way so far. Heavy, yet atmospheric and also a bit progressive musical elements are combined with meaningful lyrics and intriguing melodies!

On this album we were able to build up layers, which aren’t “chewed ready for you”, but which you have to find out by listening to the songs over and over again. And those layers can be found both in compositions as well in lyrics. “Once I Had a Heart” is truly the album out of which I can honestly say that “Hey, check this out, THIS IS DYECREST!”

This time the Dyecrest-way of songwriting (meaning that we are writing the songs as they were meant purely and just for ourselves) has created the heaviest, catchiest, and also the most beautiful Dyecrest songs so far.”

The whole band continues:

“We want to dedicate this album in the loving memory of the band’s former singer, friend, and brother forever, Kimmo Blom. Kimmo sadly passed away in the fall of 2022. We feel privileged that there are three songs on the album which we have written with Kimmo, and that we had the chance of having him as one of the backing vocalists on the album. “One day we’ll meet and rock together again – there, Where the Light Was Born!”

“Once I Had A Heart” is due out on September 29, 2023.

Streaming Now! HOOKER SPIT Release Death Metal Debut “Krötch Splitter”

Canadian Tour Dates w/ Raising The Ruins, Augurium + Loud As Hell Fest, Grover Fest, CEMR Fest

Debut Album “Krötch Splitter” Out July 28th

Canada’s Hooker Spit has a unique innate competency to ingeniously present music in multiple styles of metal, all while maintaining a consistent brand, one of the factors that make this band one to keep an eye out for. With big dreams and plenty of energy to spare, Hooker Spit hopes to tour the world, bringing aggressive death metal to people from all walks of life. Their debut album “Krötch Splitter” paints a dark picture through blast beats and gutturals and the lyrical content brings raw emotion, desperation, and depths of depravity contained within the human experience. The band comments:

“We are thrilled to be launching our debut album “Krötch Splitter”. This album was a collective effort of the band to create something special for ourselves as well as you guys. Drawing from multiple metal genres such as death, thrash, and groove, we have created a sound we feel is unique and we hope others will enjoy. The concept of the album is a wide breadth of the human experience; from the highest heights to the darkest lows. There are songs that deal with self-actualization alongside others that depict cannibalism. We understand that life is a spectrum and tried our best to represent that while creating a dark ambience with our music.”

“Krötch Splitter” is seven carefully selected tracks that contain a barrage of metal elements, fast riffs, heart-pounding drums, and intense vocals. The band believes that these songs best represent the vibe they are going for and those who enjoy it can expect a lot more music in the future.

This summer, Hooker Spit will be supporting the release of the album with a Western Candian Tour with Raising the Ruins and Augurium along with appearances at Loud As Hell Fest (Drumheller, AB, August 4-6) and Grover Fest (Stirlingville, AB, August 12).

The album was produced and engineered by Hooker Spit guitarist Vlad Gligor, along with Levi Jones, and Brad Choquette; mixed and mastered by Develop Device Studios, and the album artwork was done by PaleaRaptor. They are recommended listening for fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, Blood Bath, and Carcass.

“Krötch Splitter” officially releases on Friday, July 28th, 2023, and can be heard in full via its album stream premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

Vortex‘s third epic concept album is set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:

“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”

Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs will work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.

Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“Melodic death, a bit technical and prog” – Mosh Pit Radio WORT 89.9FM (Madison, WI)

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

“After hearing their new material live November 2022, I was really looking forward to hearing the sequel and it may be darker than ever.” – Thorium Mag

“a band that takes great pride in weaving together cinematic stories set to orchestral melodic death metal. Canada’s very own Vortex is prepared to whisk you away to a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm in the latest album, The Future Remains In Oblivion.” – Canadian Beats

“The Future Remains In Oblivion est un disque coloré, aux mélodies chaleureuses et aux superbes guitares.
“The Future Remains In Oblivion is a colorful record, with warm melodies and superb guitars.” – Music Waves

“The breakdowns are huge in places. There are big moments where the influences pour through, but are blended with giant choral arrangements and symphonics. It’s absolutely like something out of a Lord of the Rings movie. I love the melodies, the harmonics, and the guitar solos. This is absolutely an album which ought to be part of your listening rotation this month. I was genuinely impressed with quite a bit of the entire album. I think that when you look at this album, the absolute banger of the title tack is 100% worth several spins with the blackened guitar riffs and tremendous choral arrangements.” – Metal Epidemic

“The songs you’ll find on this upcoming release are aggressive, but Vortex also has a strong melodic approach and lots of orchestrations combined with guttural, black metal vocals and diverse guitar playing that alternates between howling snippets and beautiful, emotional riffs. Recommended for fans of Shadow of Intent, Septicflesh, and Dimmu Borgir.” – RTMB Music

ROCKSHOTS RECORDS – STYGIAN FAIR Pay Homage To Viking Heritage w/ New Video “Masters of The Sea”

New Album “Aradia” Out Aug 2023

Sweden’s Stygian Fair will be releasing its new album entitled “Aradia” this coming August via Rockshots Records. It is the band’s fourth full-length and follows “Equilibrium” (2021), “Nadir” (2020), and the debut “Panta Rei” (2018).

Formed originally in Umeå, Sweden, Stygian Fair‘s new album “Aradia” features new vocalist/guitarist Andreas Stoltz (Binary Creed, Hollow) along with Emil Holmqvist (Guitar), Anders Hedman (Bass), and P-O Jonsson (Drums). The music is heavy, pondering, and a unique blend of new and old, heavy epic metal.

Featuring 10 tracks of assorted AOR melodic metal, “Aradia” will touch and transport listeners to a place where melodies, words, and musicianship become emotion and images.

“We rely on good melodies and the rhythm section is, as from the beginning, vital to the band’s sound. Now that Andreas is in the band there is more room to play around with the guitar parts, so that might be something different on this album. But we think that old fans won’t be disappointed with Aradia!”

“Aradia” is a monument of honest metal. The band has no ambition of jumping aboard any current music fads but does whatever they like and feel works when they play together. There are softer songs and heavier songs, but all of them will convey something to fans, especially those who enjoy Rush, Memento Mori, or Tad Morose.

“Aradia is one of those albums you’ll return to many, many times. We’ve made it heavy, metal, and totally honest. There’s beauty here, there’s sadness, anger, loss, and longing. Things you’ll be able to relate to. That’s important to Stygian Fair since you’re important to us. Why else would we be doing this? We’re really pleased with the diversity of the songs: plenty of heavy guitars, drums that propel and persuade, a bass that moves and grooves plus of course singing that speaks to your soul in whispers and screams. We think you’ll like it!” adds the band.

Today, the band shares their new music video for the second single “Masters of The Sea”.

“Since we come from Sweden we are most likely descendants of Viking warriors. Perhaps that’s why we wrote this song and also tried to compensate a bit for all the pillage and such by switching perspectives during the chorus to the victims. This song is a must for anyone who finds songs about swords and drake-ships hard to resist.” adds the band.

About:

Stygian Fair is a band from a small town called Umeå in the north of Sweden. The band has existed for about nine years now and it all started when both P-O Jonsson and Emil Holmqvist decided to leave a band called ” Crave” to lay the foundations for Stygian Fair. Erik Andersson joined on bass and Andreas Stoltz on lead vocals and guitar. This first incarnation of the band never made a big mark recording or gig-wise… due to life’s crooked path.

In the autumn of 2016 Erik left the band, and a few weeks later so did Andreas as well. Soon thereafter the band gathered new momentum by welcoming Anders Hedman as the new powerhouse bass player. After a couple of auditions, Pontus Åkerlund became the new singer and with this setting, the band recorded and launched an EP named “Into the Coven”. The band began playing live frequently at different local venues. At the end of August 2018, the band entered the studio again, and in October of the same year came the debut “Panta Rei”. In January 2020 came the sophomore album “Nadir” and in April 2021 “Equilibrium”.

In September 2021 Pontus Åkerlund decided to leave the band. A few week’s search for a new vocalist lead to the return of Andreas Stoltz as lead vocalist and guitar player, after his years in Binary Creed and Hollow. In late 2022 Stygian Fair entered the studio once again, to record ten new powerful songs and with Stygian Fair’s trademark strong melodies. It is titled Aradia after the witch daughter of Diana, the goddess of the hunt and the moon.

0 VVON DOGMA I Shares Drum Playthrough Video For “The Void”; New Album “The Kvlt of Glitch” Out Now!

Montreal, QC – July 24, 2023

VVON DOGMA I Shares Drum Playthrough Video For “The Void”

New Album “The Kvlt of Glitch” Out Now!

VVON DOGMA I is known mainly for its wow factor as an avante-garde progressive metal band with a 9-string bassist helmed by frontman and band founder Chaoth (ex-Unexpect). But today, the band presents its complex, challenging, and at times even unsettling music with a playthrough by drummer Kevin Alexander and his skill to weave each drum hit to the thrilling ride of the track “The Void” that is from the band’s latest album “The Kvlt of Glitch” released this past May.

Watch the drum playthrough via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Drawing influences from Radiohead, Meshuggah, and Deftones, Vvon Dogmai I has carved out a unique sound that blends complex rhythms and haunting melodies. Ringleader and bassist Chaoth (ex-Unexpect) quotes that the band’s sound is him paying tribute to the wide assortments of influences that he’s had in his life from 90’s alternative and nu-metal to modern electronic and ambient music and everything in between. He continues to explain:

“It’s very freeing in a way to be the main songwriter because you don’t really have to fight for your ideas, whatever goes so, it’s a glimpse of my psyche. Lyrically it’s very much fueled by dark feelings that have been following me my whole life. Very personal yet vague as f*ck. This whole project, these songs, this sound, it’s been living in my head and computer alone for too long but now I’m just happy and proud to finally bring this project to life.”

Currently, Chaoth does most of the writing before drummer Kevin Alexander and Yoan modifies the structure and adds attitude with the drums and guitars and then it goes to the studio where Blaise Borboën adds like a million layers, very synth-heavy. Hours of trial and error lead to the final polished result. Like sculpting, they just play with it until it looks like something.

Vvon Dogma I is an experimental and challenging display of musical prowess and creativity. They are recommended for fans of Deftones, Sleep Token, Meshuggah, Igorrr, and Unprocessed.

“The Kvlt of Glitch” was released on May 5, 2023.

“His most recent playthrough video, Day of the Dead, combines all manner of picking, slapping and tapping, combining an expansive compositional approach with his virtuosic technique.” – Bass Player Magazine

“The invigorating glitched out bliss they have on display here is as dense as it is rewarding, with nothing falling out of place, yet with everything shifting all the time. If “The Void” is any indication of what’s to come, I seriously cannot wait to hear the rest of The Kvlt of Glitch, when it lands on May 5th independently.” – Everything Is Noise

“Vvon Dogma I are an act I praised many, many moons ago and I’m stoked to do so again. The band lead by ex-uneXpect bassist Frédérick Filiatrault is mixing electronics, progressive metal, vocoder, grooves and more. This one is for prog nerds and bass geeks alike. Also, there’s a wild cover of Radiohead’s “2 + 2 =5″ and you won’t hear anything like it anywhere else.” – Metal Injection

“Vvon Dogma are back with a new video for their new record, The Kvlt of Glitch, in the form of the track “One Eye.” It features some seriously insane nine-string bass playing… Chaoth, their nine-string bassist, is a big driver behind their experimental sound and their popularity.” – Metal Sucks

“The album promises to push boundaries with its unconventional approach to music.” – Metal Insider

“The path has been challenging for this new Canadian juggernaut, but now awakened in their futuristic glory Vvon Dogma I has positioned themselves to emerge victorious in a way past efforts did not. Worship noise, don leather straps and desert goggles, turn down the lights—the Kvlt will consume you.” – Angry Metal Guy

“if you’re in the market for something a bit different and potentially challenging, then check this out. If you’re a fan of bands such as Scale the Summit, Synaptic Glitch, Cynic, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders, Sleep Token, Unprocessed, and OU, then put this on your radar.” – Wonderbox Metal

“I am not exaggerating when I say you’re in for something very different. Vvon Dogma I is a project from Montreal, Canada, led by Frederick F a.k.a. ChaotH. He’s playing a 9 string bass, added by drummer Kevin Alexander, guitarist Yoan MP and Blaise Borboën on synthesizers, strings and production. I added Vvon Dogma I as progressive metal in the database, but is so much more than ’just’ that! At times so complex it is almost impossible to count the rhythm. It’s like uptempo industrial metal with progressive twists, added by jazz moves at times… Sometimes the music feels like madness transalted into notes, but still with a thread to follow. I like this, probably because it is so unique.” – Melodic.net

““The Void” opens the album and immediately grabs the listener with that insane bass playing and technical sound. There’s some cool noises and those mesmerizing vocals as well… Chaoth’s bass playing is just unreal, I mean on the same level of Les Claypool. The electronic embellishments that pop up on this album just makes it sound all the more foreign and not of this world. This is currently my top contender for album of the year.” – Transcending The Mundane

“If you have a taste for more of a quirky and off kilter variety of djent-flavored contemporary progressive metal, this album is probably one that merits a check.” – Progressor

0 Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON Announce New Album “Artificial Insanity” Out Sept 2023 + Streaming Single “Visionaries”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 21, 2023

Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON Announce New Album “Artificial Insanity” Out Sept 2023 via Moribund Records

Streaming First Single “Visionaries”

Canada’s new power thrash metal gods Triskelyon returns to deliver the stainless steel goods again on their highly anticipated second album “Artificial Insanity” (mixed and mastered by Michael Small (Winterhearth, Triskelyon, Artach)). Founded in 2021 by guitarist Geoff Waye, of the popular true metal band Category VI, Triskelyon released one self-titled EP and was promptly signed to Moribund Records for their radio chart-topping debut album “Downfall” (2022).

On Triskelyon’s second outing, band leader Geoff Waye has once more recruited the crème de le crème of the Canadian metal scene. Enlisting the vocal talents of guests Amanda Jackman (Category VI), Armin Kamal (Infrared), Cara McCutchen (Mortillery, Naitaka), Dale Drew (Sea Dogs), Des Mason, Ellim, Pete Healey, Raúl Álvarez (Dark Order-Aus.) and Tim Tymo (Tymo) culminate in a varied album, which delivers both pure thrash metal classics, hints of blackened melodic thrash, and enough power metal to bring one back to the 1980s.

Drum Duties are shared between Raul Marques (Burning Torment) and Alexander Raykov (Antreib), while Dwayne Pike, Keith Jackman (Category VI), and Darrin Pope are conscripted on bass.

With “Artificial Insanity”, Triskelyon returns with a varied yet blistering thrash/power metal classic, bringing back the 1980’s glory days, while maintaining a fresh and modern sound. To close the album Triskelyon surprises all with an incredible female-fronted power metal rendition of the hit song “It Doesn’t Really Matter” by Canadian rockers Platinum Blonde.

Today, the band is giving a taste of what’s to hit the mosh pit with their first single “Visionaries”.

“This was one of my anticipated albums this year as the EP wet my whistle but was far from being enough to satisfy my metal hunger. Hopefully this is not a one off because this is one of the most unique projects to come across my radar in a long time. I’m curious to see where Mr. Waye takes this project next. We shall see. In the meantime…get this album, you’ll thank me for it!” – Metal-Rules

“The highlight of the opening trio is the rampaging “Odyssey (Blessed By Steel)” which finds Marlee Ryley of Hyperia in fine form. Waye is on the rampage with a collection of frenetic riffs and the result is an adrenaline rush of a song that really gets things going. “A Time of War” then finds Triskelyon in Megadeth territory minus the trademark snarl of Dave Mustaine for what can only be described as a classic Thrash anthem… All in all, there is plenty to enjoy here, especially if you’re a lover of the mighty riff ” – Metal Noise

“Thrash Metal with melody, good arrangements and multiple voices.” – PowerMetal.de

“Power-Thrash equipped with murderous riffs on a technically first-class level with changeable exciting vocal variability, at times also surrounded by a dark atmosphere.” – FFM-Rock

“Most of the songs on here are fast and furious, such as “Balance of Terror” with its Hanneman/King-esque riffing, the skull-piercing “Odyssey (Blessed by Steel)” and the powerful “A Time of War,” though they do slow down a bit on the moody march of “Find a Way” while still remaining heavy as all hell… Triskelyon don’t reinvent the wheel of Power/Thrash, but they sure know how to keep it spinning, and that makes Downfall worth giving a spin of its own.” – The Metal Crypt
