Saudi Prog Metal DUSK Teams Up w/ Kuwait’s ABZY For New Single “Sleepwalker”

L-R – Gilbert Hadad – Drums, Abzy – Vocalist, DUSK – Guitarist

Saudi Arabia’s one-man prog metal unit DUSK (from the mind of Meshari Sangora) has teamed up with Kuwaiti modern metal artist ABZY and drummer Gilbert Hadad to release their unified single “Sleepwalker”. Fresh, creative, and powerful, the track is about the struggle one has with their mental health.

“As I work on my follow-up music to 2023 Spectrums, I think fans will love this first taste of the new album I’m working on, and they will appreciate the beauty of my maturity when it comes to songwriting and what experiences can do to a creative session. I’m trying to touch base on more realistic subjects such as mental health, but I always like to show the other side of the conversation,” adds DUSK.

Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life led to his rediscovery of all forms of metal, and it was just the beginning of his creation of music as a self-taught musician and producer. DUSK released its first full length” “Spectrums” to follow two previously released EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles that were used to introduce the project’s music to the world in 2020.

“Spectrums” garnered praise as it was named Album of The Year in 2023 by Metal Pedia and Metal Has No Borders along with reaching listeners in over 90+ countries on Spotify.

This album further solidified his place in the international metal community, featuring 12 tracks sung in multiple languages, including (English, German, Finnish, and Arabic). Spectrums also included collaborations with both local Saudi artists and international metal musicians, such as Aron Harris from Solemn Vision and Jaani Peuhu, formerly of Swallow the Sun.

Beyond his music career, DUSK is an influential figure in the Saudi Arabian and broader GCC metal scenes. He has played a crucial role in supporting local artists by offering marketing consultations, providing studio recording services, and helping to manage and promote the “Riyadh Inferno” festival, an important event for the region’s growing metal community. As the festival’s key liaison, DUSK connects local venues with regional bands, further strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a destination for metal acts.

With a deep commitment to his craft and his role in the development of the metal music scene in Saudi Arabia and beyond, DUSK continues to shape the future of heavy music along with the CEO and Founder of Heavy Arabia “GIGI ARABIA”.

“Sleepwalker” is recommended for fans of Currents, Spiritbox, and Killswitch Engage, along with everything under the vein of progressive metal, metalcore, EDM, and djent.

“A gargantuan and epic undertaking from Dusk, even before you consider the array of guests that complement the overall progressive metal experience. Spectrums is incredibly ambitious and eccentrically pleasing, as the best progressive metal should be.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Headbanging-Life (2023 – Spectrums)

“The album is adventurous, but met head on. They also assembled a great cast of supporting guests that bring a variety to the album, such that you never know what sound might be coming next. The description of styles mentioned in the beginning reflect how diverse the album really is. Each song is performed meticulously, thoughtfully, and confidently.” – Metal-Temple (2023 – Spectrums)

“Be all this as it may, it’s clear that Sangora is a talented musician and producer who can write an effective hook. “Breath In, Breath Out Ft. Adnan Mryhi” is a fist-pumping metalcore anthem with a big chorus over a melodic riff and progressive guitar flourishes. “Agnes Of Rome Ft. Abzy” makes the best use of guest vocals, featuring an almost sultry delivery that includes an especially affecting stretch in Arabic. The real standout is “Someone To Trust Ft. Jon Thomas,” which places a chillwave chorus with vocorder-like vocal filters in a metalcore frame that effectively fulfills the promise of Dusk’s electronica metal approach… Meshari Sangora is a talented musician who is likely to find an audience for his slightly progressive, slick EDM metal. I’m a bit surprised to see metal from Saudi Arabia reaching this site but seeing the guest spots here by other Saudi and Kuwaiti musicians, it’s obvious there’s a community in the Middle East that deserves some exposure.” – Angry Metal Guy (2023 – Spectrums)

“If you are into the likes of Architects, Deftones and Born Of Osiris, you will find much to enjoy – other influences I can hear are Coheed And Cambria in some of the arrangements, SOAD in some of the delivery of lyrics and some of the clean lyrics on some of the songs are super-Emo-sounding (‘Burning In My Mind’ I’m looking at you…) and then there is a HARD left turn and it suddenly appears that Dusk are the Arabian version of Seething Akira on ‘Karma Will Find You’ with some extra throat ripping brutality from Moe Steiger.” – Ever-Metal (2023 – Spectrums)

“Spectrums is the debut full-length which features 10 guest vocalists by Saudi and Kuwaiti musicians… The talent and arduous work that was put into this album collectively is impressive. The international flavors and languages in which each song is performed I find irresistible. I am a person who enjoys all genres of metal and if the piece of music in question is well done even better. I don’t shy away from diving into metalcore or any other genre to experience and digest a piece of music. This album is uniquely designed with multiple genres, styles, and influences… The whole album is worth digesting.” – Metal Lair (2023 – Spectrums)

“This has a melodic metalcore thing going on, a bit heavier in parts, some great harsh vox and shouts along with a higher pitch clean vox.” – WORT 89.9FM – Madison, WI (2023 – Spectrums)

“There are plenty of good ideas and superb music here, and a number of excellent songs (opener “The World We Used to Know” and “Only You” are particular standouts)” – Heavy Music Headquarters (2023 – Spectrums)

“Meshari Sangora drives the one-man project Dusk with an abundance of ambition. Spectrums may appear to be a meditation onthe spectrum of djent, however there’s further merit under the skin. The record gathers a multitude of contributors… an impressive feat in not only banding together artists with vastly different styles, but also of different language (English, German, Finnish, Arabic). Additionally, we discover EDM, jazz, pop, industrial, and ambient fusion finessed within the overall extravagant gallery of modern progcore.” – Metal Has No Borders (2023 – Spectrums)

“This is very much and inclusive and sprawling production, and an album worth a check by those who tend to enjoy a contemporary and unpredictable variety of progressive metal that ventures forth into landscapes where not too many others have contemplated going before.” – Progressor (2023 – Spectrums)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 16, 2023

Streaming Now! Saudi One Man Prog DUSK’s New Album “Spectrums”

Saudi Arabia’s one-man prog metal unit DUSK (from the mind of Meshari Sangora) offers up the new album “Spectrums” and ahead of its official release on Friday, February 17th, fans can listen to the album in full via TheProgSpace HERE.

“I’m very happy and excited to present my album to the world! It’s going to be an epic journey playing this album to fans all over the world! and because I wanted to make it a complete professional release, I’m releasing a vinyl press for it and video content to give that extra enjoyment out of the record and the people who got it and supported me throughout the ride.” adds DUSK.

Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life lead to his rediscovery of all forms of metal and was just the beginning of creating his own music as a self-taught musician and producer. “Spectrums” is DUSK‘s first full-length to follow two previously released EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles that were used to introduce the project’s music to the world in 2020.

The new album features multiple guests such as Saudi musicians Khalid C (Entropia) and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with international artists such as Aron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known as a member of Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai. Featuring 12 tracks, “Spectrums” is a multi-lingual expression with various songs sung by its contributors in English, German, Finnish, and Arabic.

DUSK created the new album to be listened to as Side A and Side B. The first half of the album (Side A) is aggressively sounding, and more guitar-focused and has a build-up of more hostility to each track while the listener moves forward. The second half (Side B) aims for a new sound from DUSK infusing more of the electric/EDM-ish sound where it’s more focused and digitized sounding and widely more appealing to the non-metal listener, all while keeping the same aggression level building up with each track.

“I wanted to bring more to the table and make this album a possible gateway to new audiences and perhaps fans from both sides, the metal heads & the non-metal listeners. I think all people who enjoy music will be interested in it, with all that has been added and all the different genres mixed in. What I’m trying to do with this record is to make everyone experience their own feelings and their own journey, the topics for this project are big and very stretched, some of the topics deal with real issues like betrayal and disposition, Love, Hate, and Hope.” says DUSK.

The album was fully written & recorded at DUSK‘s studio with the mixing and mastering done by Tom Haberland of Crushing Waves Studio. Album artwork created by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Studios.

“Spectrums” is recommended for fans of Currents, Born of Osiris, Novelists, and Deftones, along with everything under the vein of progressive metal, metalcore, and djent.

What Comes Around Goes Around! Saudi One Man Prog DUSK New Music Video “Karma” ft. Moe Steiger

New Album “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s one-man prog metal unit DUSK (from the mind of Meshari Sangora) is unveiling the next single “Karma” ft. Moe Steiger from the upcoming full-length entitled “Spectrums”. The album follows two previously unleashed EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles that were used to introduce the project’s music to the world in 2020.

The album’s second single talks about someone in the Saudi metal scene with whom DUSK (Meshari Sangora) crossed paths with and was less kind and more condescending towards others. DUSK goes into further detail about how the song and collaborating with More Steiger.

“I was very grateful for coming across Moe when I was looking for a vocalist with this type of energy for the track, I knew I had to look in a place that is known for being crazy in music, and where to look other than Germany! So I contacted my friend Tom Haberland who happens to be the producer I worked with in “Origin” and now the album. When I mentioned that I’m looking for artists he recommended Moe to me, and before I knew it, Moe has already followed me on my socials and sent a message to let me know that he got the news from Tom, and I swear to god it couldn’t be more perfect. Everything started to fall in place and once we had a talk about the theme for this particular song and went over a few things, Moe started writing the lyrics and the song came out to be one my favorites in the album.”

For “Spectrums”, DUSK recruited various many guests such as Saudi musicians Khalid C (Entropia) and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a featured guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with international artists such as Aron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known as a member of Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai. The album features 12 tracks and is a multi-lingual expression with various songs sung by its contributors in English, German, Finnish, and Arabic.

DUSK comments on the forthcoming album:

“As a musician and one of the pioneers in the local Saudi Scene, I wanted to bring more creativity to the game and make this project an inspiration standpoint to the new upcoming bands and musicians who look up to me both locally and internationally, so right then and there, I decided to make this album into two different themes, something that will speak to every music lover out there, from the heavy and raw guitar tones to the Synth-ish spacy sounds that ease the listener to a very dynamic and emotional ride.”

Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life lead to his rediscovery of all forms of metal and was just the beginning of creating his own music as a self-taught musician and producer.

What I’m trying to do with this record is to make everyone experience their own feelings and their own journey, the topics for this project are big and very stretched, some of the topics deal with real issues like betrayal and disposition, Love, Hate, and Hope.” adds DUSK

Recommended for fans of Currents, Born of Osiris, Novelists, and Deftones, along with everything under the vein of progressive metal, metalcore, and djent, “Spectrums” will be released on all digital platforms including vinyl on February 17th, 2023.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Fun fact, Dusk is the nickname/stage name I choose to go with when deciding on this genre and type of music, a lot of people think at first that it’s a band name but it actually just me and the reason for that is because my background was very melodic and mostly instrumentals, I wanted to give presence to my previous style in music, so that’s why DUSK, the minutes between day and night as in my music for it being between the dark and melodic breaks and the pure connection in these dynamics

2. Fun Fact: I used to be a DJ in my college days in the UAE, and my music career started right then and there, that was in 2013.

3. Fun Fact: I’m a self-taught musician and producer, I never took a class although I’ve been wanting to for almost half of my career but being too lazy about and hoping for one day to get this done and over with.

Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Shares First Single “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aaron Harris (Solemn Vision)

New Album “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s one-man prog metal unit DUSK (from the mind of Meshari Sangora) is unveiling the first single “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aaron Harris (Solemn Vision) from the upcoming full-length entitled “Spectrums”. The album follows two previously unleashed EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles that were used to introduce the project’s music to the world in 2020.

The album’s first single talks about someone who suffers from Megalomania and is a message to remind them that they are not a god. DUSK goes into further detail about how the track came to be.

“I got to know Aaron Harris, the vocalist for Solemn Vision from my friend Gigi Arabia of Heavy Arabia. She pitched Aaron to me when we were looking for a vocalist for Lethal Perspective, and as soon as I heard Aaron’s vocals I knew he was a perfect fit for the album. He’s got a raw scream that can really get you hyped! and with what I had in mind for songs on the album, I knew that he be the right fit and he sure did deliver vocally and lyrically 100 percent!”

The single can be heard at https://youtu.be/rcOw6G0VgKE

Digital (Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music) – https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/dusk14/lethal-perspectives-feat-aron-harris

For “Spectrums”, DUSK recruited various many guests such as Saudi musicians Khalid C (Entropia) and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a featured guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with international artists such as Aaron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known as a member of Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai.

The album was fully written & recorded at Dusk’s studio with the mixing and mastering done by Tom Haberland of Crushing Waves Studio. Album artwork created by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Studios.

Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Announces First Full-Length “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s DUSK is a one-man musical progressive metal journey from the mind of Meshari Sangora. Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life lead to his rediscovery of all forms of metal and was just the beginning of creating his own music as a self-taught musician and producer. Starting out in 2020, over the last two years, DUSK has released two EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles.

Now this coming February 2023, DUSK will release the first full-length entitled “Spectrums”. Writing the album at the beginning of November 2021, it will feature 12 tracks with many guests such as Khalid C from local Saudi melodic death band Entropia, and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a featured guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with collaborations with international artists such as Aron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known from the highly recognized band Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai. Vocals are also sung in many other languages English, German, Finnish, and Arabic.

The album is also meant to be listened to as a Side A and Side B.

With the name “Spectrums” came the main idea for the record, which is giving the music and letting everyone DUSK wanted to work with, put their creative input and point of view, discussing real topics and relatable stories so that the average listener feels the connection and experiences a full emotional journey throughout the whole album. As the songwriting developed for the full-length, DUSK also decided to infuse different languages and different styles, genres, and sounds.

“I wanted to bring more to the table and make this album a possible gateway to new audiences and perhaps fans from both sides, the metal heads & the non-metal listeners. I think all people who enjoy music will be interested in it, with all that has been added and all the different genres mixed in. What I’m trying to do with this record is to make everyone experience their own feelings and their own journey, the topics for this project are big and very stretched, some of the topics deal with real issues like betrayal and disposition, Love, Hate, and Hope.” adds DUSK

Creating the album was a task for DUSK, but as a one-man band, it was an easier workflow that he found really incredible.

“I have the full creative process to express my feelings and emotion without any interventions that may happen between band members, And I also love to give the creative space for the vocal artists to add their touch and magic when it comes to collaborating with them, I normally tell them the theme of the demo I share with them, and sometimes what subjects to talk about other than that, they always have the full creative space when it comes to vocals/writings lyrics.”

Recommended for fans of Currents, Born of Osiris, Novelists, and Deftones, and anything under the progressive djenty core metal realm, the debut album “Spectrums” is due out on February 17th, 2023, and will be released on all digital platforms including vinyl.

The album was fully written & recorded at Dusk’s studio with the mixing and mastering done by Tom Haberland of Crushing Waves Studio. Album artwork created by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Studios. M

Two singles will also be unveiled in lead up to the full-length’s release, “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aron Harris and “Karma Will Find You” ft. Moe Steiger.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2022

Saudi Prog DUSK Releases New Single “Origin” ft. Brett Anspach (UltraViolent)

Saudi Arabia’s DUSK is a one-man musical journey from the mind of Meshari Sangora. This past November, he presented his latest EP “To Where I Belong”, a four-track recording of progressive instrumental modern metal featuring guests Madani Zakri and Abdulrahman Elghazali.

Today, in follow up to the sophomore record is his next collaboration with vocalist Brett Anspach of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania band UltraViolent. Lyrics were written by local Riyadh songwriter Mohammed “Doomster” Alkudwah.

The track kicks off with emotional hardcore sentiment to continue into a tour-de-force of guttural vocals to rollercoaster the progressive djenty riffs that emulate feelings of both rage and enlightenment.

DUSK adds about how the track came to be from two musicians on different sides of the world.

“I came across Brett on Fiverr, it’s a service website where people can offer all sorts of things from designing something for YouTube to all the way to work with talented musicians such as Brett. I was looking for a vocalist that would add a certain feel to the mix. Once he sent me the first draft, the initial thing that came to my mind was this guy sounds like Tobias Rische, the lead vocalist for the French band Novelists and I knew that this is what I was looking for. And now after finishing ‘Origin’ we’ve decided to work on more music in the future.”

Out Now! Saudi Instrumental Prog Metal DUSK Sophomore EP “To Where I Belong”

Saudi Arabia’s DUSK is a one-man musical journey from the mind of Meshari Sangora. Presenting his latest EP “To Where I Belong”, the four-track EP of progressive instrumental modern metal is now available as of November 10th.

The sophomore EP follows the 2020 debut “Ascension” and stand-alone singles “Enrapture”, “Particle of Shapes” and “Rotten Roots”.

Taking about 5-6 months from when initially written, the project was completed with its articulated riffs and solos. It is a recording that tells a story of musical taste that’s being challenged constantly and one that the audience will surely enjoy throughout.

“The EP is very raw and in your face with its rhythmic details and with every listen you give it, you can hear something new in the background that you haven’t noticed before,” says Dusk.

“To Where I Belong” is a mixture of clean guitar tones, complex rhythmic riffs, and tasteful lead solos. On this latest recording, Dusk teamed up with two fellow artists and personal friends legendary Saudi guitarist Madani Zakri who has on a guest solo on the track “Epiphany” along with one of the best upcoming modern guitar players from the Riyadh scene, Abdulrahman Elghazali who adds a guest solo on “Fear Is The Thing They Desire”.

“To Where I Belong” is now available for stream and download on Dusk94.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud.com/officialdusk
