Highlight: #2 – Canadian National Loud Chart – August 2017 – Top 20 Loud (Earshot)

“they play good-natured thrash a la Overkill and Exodus… perfectly serviceable and enjoyable, definitely more effective when they are playing fast.” – Decibel Mag

Metal Injection named MUTANK 1 of 8 Hidden Gems in Canadian Metal You Need To Know – Read here.

“Based out of (arguably) the metal hub of the nation, Montreal, Mutank are a ferocious and frenzied crossover-thrash band that infect its listener with an ear worm that no amount of Michael Buble ballads can remedy. The 2014 winners of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada contest have churned out consistently crushing thrash riffs for years and have all the tools and check off all the required boxes to make a major play in the global metal market. For first time listeners, check out “Corporate Child” from their 2014 album M.E.C.H. Metal and the pulverizing headbanger “D.E.A.T.H.” from their 2017 EP W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T” – Metal Injection

“Montreal punk/thrash crossover act MUTANK has quickly become my favourite new discovery in the world of metal. They’re fast, funny, and equal parts smart and stoopid, with lyrics like “Who do Mu Tank you are?” and a band name that gets likened to a cross between a “mutant” and a “tank”. MUTANK’s music hearkens back to vintage Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., or the more metal moments of the Dayglo Abortions or SNFU.” – Georgia Straight

“MUTANK is like a Coffee Crisp bar: crunchy as hell, and without any gooey center.” – Bucket List Music Reviews

“their hybrid thrash, traditional, speed metal makes for a great heavy experience” – We Love Metal

“Killer drumming, awesome bass hooks, great rhythm & furious sounding vocals. It’s a statement of intent from Mutank. That they are not to be underestimated & written off as just another ‘thrash throwback’.” – Games, Brains & A Headbanging Life

“They have a lot of thrashing songs that have abbreviated titles, and they kick some serious ass with their old school music and hardcore attitude.” – The Headbanging Moose

“Mutank have gotten creative with each song on the album, by coming up acronyms to fit the title of the album, they describe their sound as a “T-rex skateboarding down a volcano”. If your a fan of old school Overkill, Megadeath or Exodus or if you just want a fast and thrash album check it out” – Canadian Beats

““W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T.” is one of those records that you seem a band jamming out in their garage and eventually an audience just gathers because their thrash, punk, and a bit of tongue-in-cheek causes the listener to pay attention to what Mutank has to say.” – MUEN Mag

“Fast riffs, Heavy tempos crazy yelling.. its got all you’ve asked for. A mix of Suicidal Tendencies Punk/Thrash debut, Nuclear Assault fast moshing killer speed assault…a great funny and entertaining mini album for all beer drinkers fans of Tankard and ready to get into the moshpit 100/100.” – The Metal Mag

“grab you battlejack, studs and spandex trousers and feel like you are back in 1985.” – Lords of Metal

“they play good-natured thrash a la Overkill and Exodus… perfectly serviceable and enjoyable, definitely more effective when they are playing fast.” – Decibel Mag

“WAR is a vicious sonic attack… [M.E.C.H. Metal] it’s a ferocious delight.” – Powerplay Magazine UK

“[MUTANK] fuse old school speed metal and present day crossover thrash into one package of fun.” – Metalhorizons

“MUTANK is like a Coffee Crisp bar: crunchy as hell, and without any gooey center.” – Bucket List Music Reviews

“Fans of old school speed metal and more metallically oriented crossover thrash should check out the compact and intense 25-minute speedbomb that is “M.E.C.H. Metal”.” – Metal Music Archives

“their hybrid thrash, traditional, speed metal makes for a great heavy experience” – We Love Metal

“I personally think [M.E.C.H. Metal] could be contender for best album of the year!”- High Speed Hangover

“The song (Heavy Hand of The Doomsday Clock) comes in hard and fast, like a punch to the face. It’s got the growl of Motorhead, with an almost Transplants vocal quality. It’s raw, and ready to go.” – Martyr Mag

“M.E.C.H. Metal is fast. Of course, the dual guitars’ riffs are aggressive and complementary; and drums are as constant as the caterpillars tracks of a tank; but the album gets its real flavour via the pace of the songs and their short and simple structure. Ranging from 1:57 to 4:03, this is an album that explodes in our face in less than 25 minutes, with a remarkable intensity.” – Metal Made In Canada

MUTANK made a deservedly big splash on the scene with their M.E.C.H METAL debut (which, showing the band to be ahead of the curve, appeared on cassette!). Their 80s- inspired metal onslaught lives up to the band’s name so well, there should be a John Carpenter film of the same name! As the sleeve of their debut warned: ‘MUTANK is against the law. Those caught listening are sentenced to headbang for all time!’

Bassist/vocalist and main song-writer Stephen Reynolds explains the meaning behind the bands memorable moniker. “MUTANK is a portmanteau of the words ‘mutant’ and ‘tank’. The mutant aspect is meant to invoke the thrash metal aesthetic while the tank aspect is less military than it is raw power, heaviness and imperiousness.”

Inspired by Megadeth, Overkill, Iron Maiden, Municipal Waste and Mike Patton (for vocals) and the golden age of thrash (85-90), MUTANK describe their sound as a “T-Rex skateboarding down a volcano!”

Now MUTANK are releasing new music, which Stephen says is ‘a step up from what people have  heard from MUTANK thus far.  Someone is gonna hurt their neck listening to this…Our upcoming EP ‘W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T’ sort of started as a joke. I just thought it would be funny to force an acronym for ‘what’s that?’ and I came up with ‘We Have Alottta Thrash Songs That Have Abbreviate Titles’. From there we came up with the concept of an EP with a bunch of forced acronym titles. The EP itself was written somewhat conceptually with the individual songs being very short thrash songs that come together to make one longer progressive thrash track, which harkens back to the title since we don’t even know what it is! We have a ton of new material in the works as well, people can expect new stuff sooner rather than later!”

MUTANK’s ‘W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T’ will be released in summer 2017 on June 16th via Boonsdale Records.

The Immortalist – delivering over 67-minutes of intricacies, fluid guitar play, insane time signature manipulations, and varied clean/extreme vocal expressions for the consumers to digest…. The Immortalist is ideal for people who love the marriage of Swedish melodic death and progressive/technical metal that doesn’t go far off the rails – dripping with a touch of cyber-orientation to give things that fresh nature to the proceedings.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 23, 2017

RIKSHA Inks Deal With Zombie Shark Records; New Music Video “Shovel It” Is A Psychedelic Thrill Ride

Salt Lake City’s RIKSHA has inked a worldwide deal with Zombie Shark Records, the new record label from Noah “Shark” Robertson (Motograter, Ex-The Browning) for their forthcoming album ‘Five Stages Of Numb’ set for release in June. The album was recorded at Elevate Studios by notable producer and drummer for Chelsea Grin, Pablo Viveros plus album art done by Die Elster.

RIKSHA’s sound is affectionately known as “throg”, a mixture of “thrash” and “progressive”. The band can best be compared to groove metal and nu metal bands such as Mudvayne, Tool, Pantera, Coal Chamber, Soulfly, Nothingface, and American Head Charge.

RIKSHA
frontman Palmer states, “We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Zombie Shark Records and the great bands they represent.”

Zombie Shark Records label manager Michael Boodagh also states, “Riksha is a growing artist that is continually perfecting their craft. I am pleased to welcome them to the ZSR team! I can’t wait to see what comes next!”

RIKSHA’s new video “Shovel It”  in support of “Five Stages of Numb” can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV3d_G_Wdv4

Plus the album’s title track is currently streaming on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/album/3GddLzEKDvnKmdG8rctQqg and is supported by a computer animated music video produced by Vladyslav Tsarenko that can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/g3Vyz8OkTEE

About:

RIKSHA
have released 2 previous studio albums recorded by Bruce Kirby at Boho Digitalia Studios – ‘Dream Drops Red’ released through Dark Harvest Records and the independently released ‘Night Begins’. Riksha burned up the underground metal scene in 2012, winning Project Independent’s “Industry Panel Favorite” voted on by a panel of producers, A&R reps, and record company owners. Since then, the band has purchased a 1973 Eagle Tour Bus and has hit the road throughout the US. Riksha is currently making plans to tour the U.S. in support of their upcoming release.

RIKSHA takes four guys and squeezes out as much sound and energy as possible. With a combination of both melodic and in your face vocal and guitar styles, Riksha hammers away with a musical montage of aggression, power, and strength to create a new and bold sound.

Definitely appealing to the symphonic and melodic crowds and hitting extreme metal and metal audiences in equal measure. Karkaos know exactly what they want to be and exactly where they’re going and are likely to steadily receive more attention for their efforts.

“Subhuman Ataxia is one of the most technically impressive albums I’ve heard in recent memory. It is a combination of heaviness with a large amount of technical work, and just enough groove to peak any metalhead’s interest.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (Album review Subhuman Ataxia 2015)

“the music behind them is high quality” – Extreme Metal Television (Album review Subhuman Ataxia 2015)

In 2008, from a deep, dark, poorly lit gromitorium, in Calgary, Alberta, a new technical metal band, Statue of Demur was born. Statue Drenched in Jager with a variety of influences, Jake Reimer (Vocals/Bass), Richard Zimmer (Vocals/Guitar) and Mitch Fitz (Drums) came together to foster an intricate combination of many styles of metal, meticulously fused into a completely unique sound.

A powerful 3-piece band that has been churning out groovy riffs for the last 9 years, Statue of Demur has had the opportunity to share the stage with many bands over the years, including Canadian titans Kataklysm. They have played at Loud as Hell Music Festival, Calgary Metalfest and were the recipients of Album of the Year Award at the 2016 edition of The Calgary Beer Core Awards.

Now in 2017, Statue of Demur continues to deliver an intoxicating mind-fuck melody of tunes with their full-length release Alien Pacific. A concept album touching on extraterrestrial involvement in evolution, and their control over our showdown government, the album is a groovy ride from start to finish. Fitz says, “Without the intention, we wrote a concept album. No tracks were cut for this record, we don’t ever write songs and decide later on that they don’t make it the album. We decide early on, the rough number of tracks that we want for a full length and don’t hit the studio until we reach that number. We have never recorded an EP, and three of your records are full length.”
