About:
Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but eleven local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul and Odinfist to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2017 was the ninth year of the festival and was its largest year for music and attendance. Previous years of the festival have seen line ups with Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation, Beyond Creation, Dayglo Abortions, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage, Anciients, Bison BC, Striker, Crimson Shadows, Holy Grail, Archspire, Cryptopsy, Unleash The Archers, Divinity, Into Eternity, Ninjaspy, Vesperia, XUL, Odinfist, Death Toll Rising, Gomorrah among many others.

“The Armstrong Metalfest is one such event and has grown from its initial, humble beginnings seven years ago to be a regular mainstay, with its south-central BC location making for a popular summertime destination for fans and bands alike.” Decibel Mag
Named one of the out-of-town music festivals worth the trip by The Vancouver Sun
“For metalheads, this is a great vacation where groups of all sizes can enjoy their favourite musical genre in a fun, energized environment. Not to mention, the camping!” The Permanent Rain Press

“There’s a concept throughout the album that doesn’t correlate to the music itself, but more the message the music’s delivery . Nate delivers his music under the concept that music is a tool of therapy and he touches on very personal subjects to help him combat these demons; and that’s a concept that I personally relate to.” – Concrete Wasteland Podcast

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines Destructive as “a pulling down, overthrow’ and Therapy as “pertaining to the healing art, curative’, so it is fully appropriate for one man studio artist and Nuclear Oath bassist Nate Bohnet’s debut solo album is entitled Therapeutic Destruction, for, like all true artists Nate has mined the rich seam of his own hard-experienced life experiences for inspiration.
Describing his music as ‘emotional, groovy, melodic, organic, and therapeutic’; this is art cut from the very heart, a sonic sampling of a man’s soul, and while such cuts are deep and painful, the art created thereof is that of pain purged, for creator and listener alike, a symbiotic salvation if you will. Having lost his parents as a very young child; Nate has truly experienced what he writes about.
Nate hopes his album with help and heal his fans as much as it has himself.
“This album is centred around the concept that music is therapy. We all go through times in our lives where nothing seems to make sense, everything is on the edge, and you don’t know what will happen next. We have all loved, laughed, lost, and experienced tremendous grief and joy in our time alive. ‘Therapeutic Destruction’ means harnessing all the negative energy that comes into your life, and unleashing it in music that some might consider destructive. I felt that the title fits the main idea of the album; using music as a way of therapy and harnessing it in such a way as to allow myself to deal with aspects of my life, and if one song reaches you and connects with you; it has done its job. The overarching message is that regardless of all these low points in our lives, all we have to do is push forward and strive. The only thing holding you back is your mind.”
Due out February 16, 2018 for free download, Nate Bohnet’s solo debut album “Therapeutic Destruction” features 14 heart felt heavy tracks all recorded, mixed and mastered with his producer touch at his Medicine Hat, AB based Octave Studios.
