Edmonton shredders STRIKER are unleashing their latest music video “Pass Me By” in support of their huge hails horns news that they have been invited to perform at this year’s Bang Your Head Festival in Germany on July 13th.

Guitarist Tim Brown comments;

“What’s more fun than shredding on a roof and smashing shit? Playing Bang Your Head Open Air!”

Watch STRIKER go VHS retro and demolish the headbanging masses at the following link:

“Pass Me By” is off STRIKER‘s Juno Award nominated 2017 self-titled album released via their indie label Record Breaking Records. The album features 9 shredding tracks that are all killer and no filler to continue the band’s classic mix of heavy metal to follow 2016’s highly praised “Stand In The Fire”. The album was self-recorded by the band (Dan Clearly (vocals), Tim Brown (lead/rhythm guitars), William Wallace (bass), Adam Brown (drums) plus help from Randy Black (Primal Fear, Bif Naked, Annihilator) who filled in on drums while Adam was away during recording) along with mixing done by genius Frederik Nordstrom (Bring Me The Horizon, In Flames, Opeth).

STRIKER had quite the bullet train ride in 2017, supporting their fifth studio album on 70,000 Tons of Metal, touring Europe with Sonata Arctica along with trekking across North America with Dark Tranquillity and Warbringer.

Striker is an Edmonton-based recording and performing heavy metal band that has grown immensely through their years in the industry. A classic mix of heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, their music features powerful, clean vocals, catchy choruses, vocal harmonies, and impressive guitar leads.

Audiences are often floored by the energy of their live show, and their recorded material has been met with fantastic response by both fans and industry across the world. Striker has toured across dozens of countries as headliners as well as support for major metal acts. Gearing up for the release of their latest album the sky’s the limit for these Canadians!!

– 30 –

“Striker gush with so much enthusiasm here, with explosive riffs swirling between the vibrant harmonies and choruses, that it’s hard not to notice…Tracks like “Former Glory” and “Born to Lose” are anthemic, catchy as hell and feature soaring vocals from Dan Cleary and terrific guitar work by Tim Brown…On Striker, the band take a host of influences and hone them into a sound they can call their own.” – Exclaim!

“From the first storm-summoning power chord on the opener Former Glory, Striker (CAN) proves their new album’s initial claim of not dwelling on the past, a high and appropriate cry of “Yeah, I’m back again!”… If you haven’t witnessed this inspiring resurrection of classic metal, the band plays Friday, April 14 at Starlite with Ravenous and Tylor Dory Trio, no doubt sharpened from the faithful overseas audiences.” – Edmonton Journal

“When a band releases an eponymous album it’s a statement of intent, a sign of confidence, everything being as it should be. For make no mistake, Striker are a special band. As the old Metal Gods ascend to Valhalla, new gods will arise. This is Striker’s fifth album and it’s just timeless. Not retro, not looking back, but taking everything that’s uplifting and glorious about heavy metal into 2017 and beyond…this album has to be in every writer and fan’s top ten at the end of 2017.” – Hellbound

“A less balls out, more aggressive record than its predecessor, STRIKER delivers another impressive collection of high energy headbangers….Regardless of what your heavy metal predilections may be, STRIKER offers something for everyone. Super catchy tunes dripping with shred gymnastics and all around technical prowess, Striker deserves a place on any metal fan’s playlist….If you have not experienced Striker yet, this album is a worthy place to start and should appeal to a wide range of fans, particularly followers of the Priest, Anthrax and Maiden.” – Metal Rules

TEST YOUR METAL RECORDS is proud to announce they will unleash North Carolina sci-fi metallers XAEL’s debut album “The Last Arbiter” on May 18th, 2018.

Combining elements of extreme metal with orchestrations and folk music to create soundscapes for the imagination, the sci-fi inspired band’s music focuses on the endeavors of its members in a science fantasy epic.  From the wastelands of war torn planets to the pits where the fallen gods dwell, XAEL paints an odd and fantastic world musically and visually.  The band was founded by Nassaru of Rapheumets Well as well as Sorgiem “Daniel Presnell,” Tuurm “Alex Rush”, and Xolotl “Fernando Ortega and is joined by musical artist is Rei Haycraft, Firran “Joshua Morse” and Zabrûz “Chris Hathcock.”

Nassaru comments:

“Xael started out as a personal project that evolved into a unity of like-minded musicians. The music derives inspiration from extreme metal, folk and tribal music, as well as 80’s synth and sci-fi textured scores.  We are very excited to for people to see the handwork and detailed time we put into this album given the limited resources we had. Xael “The Last Arbiter” is not just a musical regurgitation but a unique experience that follows an intrinsic story.  Our characters, emotions, and trials of life are woven throughout the album as we aim to bring a very diverse and immersive album to our growing fan base.”

“The Last Arbiter” Album summary:

The sky ghost, the wayfarer, the shadow of time, the exile; he is called by many names yet for the Immortal, he is cursed to traverse the cosmos aimlessly, searching for an unattainable purpose. Chained to him is a beast, a demon from antiquity who the immortal keeps as a reminder of his past.

Upon the corridors of the Tymeer capitol the immortal presents his seemingly profound doctrine called the “Compendium of Ethical Symbiosis” which outlines a harmonious way of governing and regulating the various civilizations under the ruling regime through casting down warmonger ideologies and laws which degrade the value of its species.

Though momentarily entertained, the ruling counsel of Tymeer dismisses the wisdom of the wayfarer. Passing through the city gates tired and morally degraded, the immortal along with his insidiously chained demon wanders into the wastelands of Tymeer. It is here that his journey begins

L to R – Alex Rakic (Bass), Youri Targiroff (Lead Guitar), Marko Rakic (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Nikola Rakic (Drums)

A family affair comprised of the Rakic brothers, Marko (vocals, guitar), Alex (bass), Nikola (drums) along with their long time childhood friend Youri Targiroff on lead guitar, Montreal’s SHOVELHEAD have been offering sonic gems that are simply irresistible since forming in 1995.  Having toured Eastern Canada to garnering praise on the local scene to living their dreams in Southern California and back to their hometown, SHOVELHEAD has always been unstoppable with their bone crushing heavy rock to their subdued ballads.

Serenading with melodic vocal lines and a signature guitar style, the alternative rock quartet have released three full lengths Pocus Cadabra (1996), Dark Horse (1999), Arson and Lace (2007). Now after a 10 year hiatus from recording, they return in 2018 with an anniversary video “Big Time Loser” for “Arson and Lace” plus are currently working on their planned fourth full length entitled “Killer Waves”, which will be recorded once again with award winning producer/engineer/mixer Glen Robinson who has worked with names such as The Ramones, AC/DC, GWAR, Annihilator and Voivod.

The band comments:

“We believe this will be our strongest release to date. We are sure our existing fans will be impressed with the number of tunes that we plan to make memorable and catchy. It’s still hard rock, with the same great quality recordings; it’s just a step up in our song writing level. We’re pushing to evolve from recording to recording and as we progress musically and mature mentally, the music seems to invariably do the same. Although we love our first recordings, we are creating with a bit more maturity.”

“From the drop of the first note, AxMinister pull their ax from stone, brandishing it mightily and powerfully as they dish out shredding sharpened riff after sharpened riff. Thrown in to the mix are face melting solos as well as ever present charging drumming as well as very solid very infectious vocals. Each of the five tracks present within this release are woven together well to provide you with a cohesive and well rounded sound that you will have a hard time getting out of your head. With The Crucible Of Sin, AxMinister gift you with five highly addictive and highly entertaining tracks that you keep coming back to.” – Cadaver Garden

“The Crucible of Sin is a great thrash/traditional metal album, showing strong influences from Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica to full effect.” – Hellbound

“an exciting piece of Thrash Metal. It has a unique touch to it that allows the EP to be memorable, whilst the guitars make it very enjoyable.” – Noizze UK

“The stair-step cultural guitar to snare combinations for “The Trials of Hercules” brings out the Manowar fan in us all – while the speedy double kick locomotive aspects to closer “Sanctus Equitus Mortis” surely keep the ears pinned for a closer…It’s clear that you have a solid set of musicians and keen songwriting abilities – so if you want something a bit more dramatic and adventurous in your thrash airings, AxMinister could be that difference maker for you.” – Dead Rhetoric

“”The Crucible of Sin” is a lyrically-strong (hard & heavy) power metal recording with strong lead vocals, great guitar solos, a slick rhythm section, and inspired songs that will make you want to wave the banner of true heavy metal for all to see!! This is honest to goodness heavy metal that has been made possible thanks to hard work & dedication of true heavy metal maniacs.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“AxMinister are having fun with these five high octane songs, and if you enjoy NWOBHM then so will you.” – Firebrand’s Rock And Metal Express

“You can tell that AxMinister is a band that is all about fun, especially since one of their songs is titled “Arnold Schwarzenegger” – Metal Master Kingdom

“I don’t know how I’ve never come across these guys before; they played some great traditional Heavy Metal about history and had a killer stage show to boot, with frontman Nicholas Klaus looking like an executioner and their drummer constantly changing hats/helmets/masks throughout the set.” – Five Magics Music

“[AxMinister’s] gritty pounding thrash originals should also make lots of fans on the Fourth of July, so keep them in mind!” – Sault Metal Scene

Hailing from the frozen tundra of Ontario, AxMinister are the heroes of metal the world needs!

Initially formed back in the forgotten mists of metallic history (1999); the power-trio AxMinister looked upon how po-faced metal had become; and yay, and verily, did they pull their mighty Ax from its anvil where it had rested, Excalibur-like, until it was needed; and set out to put the metal world to rights…that is as it should be! They are here to minister the metal; and they have their mighty Ax; their symbol of salvation to guide them.

In magic and metal myth, names have power, and none more so than AxMinister, as splendidly-named drummer Bas Von Bismark explains. “We play warriors of metal on a holy quest. Our preferred weapon is the Ax. It’s also a street name where we partook in libations as teenagers.”

Inspired by Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Bas describes AxMinister’s sound as “sped up Type O Negative.”

Bas is stoked for fans to hear AxMinister’s new music, their forthcoming 2018 EP “The Crucible of Sin” to follow singles “Visceral Speed” (2017), “AXistential Christmas” (2015), “Unborn Warriors: The Cries of Tomorrow” (2015) and full length “Betray Everything” (2015).

“Our soon to be released EP “The Crucible of Sin” sports a sense of humour. It tries to tell an… at times, nihilistic, story about love, lust, oppression, and redemption. Following every recording and show, we try to reflect on our own mistakes, and attempt to improve. We grew to understand our 90s thrash/traditional style of songwriting, and compose accordingly. We also get the importance of having a big sound on stage and on record; and the importance of working with a good producer.”

Live, AxMinister really wield their weapons of choice to great effect. “We put on a show, as we play medieval characters on stage. Sometimes we make a human sacrifice as our guitarist solos, other times we chant and pour blood on ourselves. We try to be theatrical and our stage show is constantly evolving.”

“The Crucible of Sin” is due out May 4, 2018 and available for pre-order on Bandcamp here.
