0 Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life – EP Review: Creatures – II (Old Haunt Records) “II is five tracks long and flys by in an instant as barbaric riffs, bitter vocals, mind-bending breakdowns and a constant feeling of desperation wrap around you. This is not an EP for the faint of heart as Creatures have a habit of jumping out at you in an attempt to startle you.”

This is where Kill No Albatross find their sound but they bring an alternative slant to the table to tone the metal side down and make it one cohesive sound rather than two horses pulling in opposite directions.”

New Brunswick’s ECMA and Music NB award winning mantra doom duo ZAUM announce they will be embarking on Canadian dates in Ontario and Quebec (dates listed below) with support from Sweden’s FIREBREATHER whom the band toured Europe with last year (watch their music video “Release The Lava” here.)
ZAUM‘s Kyle Alexander McDonald comments:
“We’re floored to have FIREBREATHER join us for this Canadian tour, much of which was a makeup for the cities we missed last summer. We toured three weeks across Europe with the 3-piece Swedish stoner doom band and are very close with them both personally and also intertwined with them lore wise within ZAUM. Their lead vocalist Mattias sang a part on our last album and will be performing that live with us here in Canada for the first time. Our intentions are to head directly into the studio afterwards and finish album #3 with a 2019 release in mind.”
ZAUM’s second and latest full length musical chapter “Eidolon” was released October 24, 2016 via I HATE Records with distribution via Plastic Head/Sony Music throughout Europe and Century Media in North America to follow their 2014 debut album “Oracles”. In their three years as an active touring band ZAUM have amassed 200+ shows (mainly international) under their belts including support stints for Voivod, Pentagram, and Cauldron.
ZAUM is a passage toward the dark realizations of the old world; a monolithic doomy mantra based meditative experience forged by bass and drums interwoven with sitar, woodwind, string and synth textures. Based in Moncton, NB – observers experience a tranquil resonance whereby the astral and physical planes can co-exist and be understood from a natural perspective.

“ZAUM blends several moods into a really attractive, cohesive work that not only pays off, but also distances them from Om, creating for themselves a sphere of their own.” – Sputnik Music
“a new level of headphone-ready, open-consciousness expanse. Nothing matters. Give up your expectations. Quit your job and move to the forest. Build a temple by a river and spend your days naming the gods who live in the trees around you.” – The Obelisk
“Their sound encompasses the enormity of the likes of Sleep and Om, yet works in a mysticism that’s haunting and ethereal. The 40 minute span of this release is a sitar driven daydream that carries the gravitational force of tectonic plates shifting.” – Iron Fist
“Hold onto your bong, ponder those scraps of eastern philosophy you’ve picked up watching Kung Fu films from the 1970s, and prepare to escape from Samsara.” – Ave Noctum
“Consists of dread and a haunting sensation to glimmers of hope, but mostly dreadful darkness. ZAUM cast their own dark shadow, one I don’t mind being consumed by.” – Bucketlist Music Review (10/10)
“Few bands can touch the New Brunswick doom duo in terms of sheer hypnotic atmosphere. Eidolon sees them go further down their singular path into the heavy unknown. Prepare to be transported to a higher realm.” – The Sludgelord
“Simply put, ZAUM is an 11/10. To my fellow people: go home and lay down.”- Don L’Orange, – Weird Canada

NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – July 16, 2018
For fans of Kamelot, Symphony X, Alter Bridge, Tesseract
RED CAIN Premiere Video “Zero” via New Noise Mag
Debut Album “Kindred” To Be Released In 2018

Born out of the emerging metal scene of Calgary, AB, RED CAIN is a modern melodic metal project with European roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and eerie ambient elements, RED CAIN champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience. Described by frontman Evgeniy Zayarny as wanting to bring back the “Devil’s music” mysticism all too often missing in modern metal acts, RED CAIN delivers flair, groove, and an intricate, lethal edge in their music. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Draconian, Marilyn Manson, whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of the band is all of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy, shaken and stirred.
Unleashing their self-titled EP in 2016, RED CAIN are returning in 2018 with a debut full length entitled “Kindred” planned for later release this year. Produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios, RED CAIN are ready to share with fans their next single and video “Zero” via New Noise Magto follow their first single “Snakebouquet” off the upcoming “Kindred”.
The band comments on the new track:
“For Red Cain’s next single “ZERO” from our upcoming album “Kindred”, we travel to ancient Egypt – dry, scorched, old as time, built on top of dead empires; littered with secrets and the devoured remains of hundreds of gods. And it is one of these that speaks to you now; the vampire god, the god of death Osiris – and his human vessel, the seeker of forbidden knowledge that may be, in the grand stillness of the desert, ultimately equal to nothing.
Seek – and you shall find; create – and you will be remembered; perish – and be forgotten. So goes the mantra of the mighty and the hope of the weak. So goes the endless cascade toward ZERO.”
