Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Misshapen are a diverse and melodic metal band blending elements of death metal, technical metal, and black metal. They are releasing their EP ‘Transcendence’ February 8, 2019, and now present the official music video for ‘The Swarm’.
Capturing the attention of audiences since 2016, Misshapen seeps melodies with harsh vocals, further ignited with technical riffs and meaningful lyrics. ‘The Swarm’ is the most ferocious track on the EP and would be recommended to fans of Ne Obliviscaris, Children of Bodom, At the Gates, and Dimmu Borgir.
The band shares their thoughts on the track:
“It’s the black metal song of the EP, filled with dark riffs and horrific orchestration that revisits early Dimmu Borgir days. The lyrical inspiration was derived from ‘Castlevania’ the series. It means that people who follow a corrupt leader will bring a sense of hell on earth. This song intelligently showcases how we visit the other side of the spectrum of the emotion we generally induce in our music.”

The five-track EP ‘Transcendence’ will be available on February 8, 2019. This will be the first release after their 2016 demo and promises to be adventurous, dark and distinct.

Hailing from the ashes of Charlotte, USA’s darker side comes forth the blackened death trio, Oculum Dei. Mixing different elements and influences of black metal, the band is set to bring forth a horde of darkness and engage listeners into a realm of deep, chaotic experiences.
Hellbent to unleash their demonic war chants from their debut full length on February 22, 2019, the band is sharing the latest music video for the album’s title track “Dreams of Desire and Torment”.
“The title itself explains the mood changes within the lyrics and the instruments, it goes from a calming deep trance of thought into a chaotic atmosphere of frustrations where basically one is conflicted within them-self dreaming of desires and wants, but being tormented having the dreams knowing they will never happen.”

The band adds:
“The album as a whole is an eclectic mix of slow dark black metal jumping into extreme black riffs sometimes slowed down with a death metal riff and into acoustic guitars. There is no set template for this one, just a groove and feel that each of us has brought to the table.”
First forming as a studio project in 2016 by Tenebris (bass/drum and keys programming), Camalus (guitar) and Zebulv (vocals/guitar), Oculum Dei has taken their influences of Emperor, Behemoth and Dark Funeral and push an eclectic unholy blasphemy as far as it will go in the Southern USA’s Bible Belt.
Not content to remain as a studio project, the trio has begun performing locally and have shared the stage with Carach Angren, Wolfheart, and Mors Principum Est. Clad in corpse paint with an elaborate and continuously evolving stage show, Oculum Dei has heavily invested into their extreme visionary madness.

0 Metal Crypt – Backstabber – Conspiracy Theorist “Backstabber’s death metal is more of the modern variety (in a good way) with a very clean yet brutal sound and speed aplenty. The playing is insanely tight at times and it’s often hard to believe that this is only the first album of a relatively young band, their first demo having been released in 2016. Some passages are a little on the thrash side but for the most part this is heavy, pounding, fast death metal driven by a drummer who is really asking for a speeding ticket.”

Born out of the emerging metal scene of Calgary, AB, RED CAIN is a modern melodic metal project with European roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and eerie ambient elements, RED CAIN champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Draconian, Marilyn Manson, whipped into a venomous new shape.
Having released three singles in 2018 “Wing of The Crow” ft. Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), “Zero” and “Snakebouquet” off their upcoming debut full length“Kindred: Act I”, the band is proud to reveal the album’s artwork by Timur Khabirov, cover design by Igor Zayarny and track listing below.
The album was produced by Sascha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) with the band at Perfect Filth Studios and features guests Kobra Paige (Kobra And The Lotus), Daniel Louden (Benevolent Like Quietus) and guitarist Tyler Corbett.
