Montreal, QC – January 8, 2019

KARMIC LINK Posts Guitar Playthrough “Lost Magic Alchemy”

New Album “Dark Metropolis” Out Now! via Rockshots Records

Karmic Link guitarist Evan Hensley has posted a new guitar playthrough for “Lost Magic Alchemy”, which is one of nine tracks off the band’s latest album “Dark Metropolis” released this past October via Rockshots Records.

Watch it at the following link:

Evan Hensley (ex-Nightfall, Dark Hound), hailing from Nashville, Tennessee (USA), joined Karmic Link in 2009, taking up both guitar and bass duties with founding member Stathis Kassios (ex-keyboard player of Sweden’s System Shock and of Greece’s Nightfall), and Sweden’s Kim “Kimbo” Gustavsson (drums, guitar) currently based in Oslo (Norway).

The band’s latest album “Dark Metropolis” features nine tracks of dark industrial coldness with Mediterranean energy along with atmospheric landscapes, progressive and instrumental madness, electro breakdowns plus hard rock pentatonic moments. The album is the third full length from the band to follow their two previous albums “Esoterica”(2010) and debut “No Light But Rather Darkness Visible”(2008).

Stathis Kassios comments:

“Karmic Link is promoting thought-provoking concepts, ideas, heretic, and hermetic philosophies to explain today’s chaotic world and the Dystopian times to come in a globally connected world…Karmic Link is the bitter yet powerful sound of our personal life’s soundtrack filled with anxiety for the future ruled by technology.”

About:

Karmic Link is the brainchild of Stathis Kassios (Nightfall, ex-system Shock) who, after a period of extensive recording and live experience, gave birth to a surrealistic musical project. In 2006, he started experimenting on some songs with Mina G., a charismatic mezzo-soprano, full of karmic ideas. The link was established and the result was mixed and mastered in the famous Tico Tico studios in Finland. The group’s debut album “No Light but Rather Darkness Visible” was released in 2008 with a new lineup consisting of  Stathis Kassios, Evan Hensley and Kim Kimbo Gustavsson. Karmic Link so far consists of mediterranean energy, doses of industrial coldness, atmospheric landscapes, progressive bits, instrumental madness, dark pop tunes, electro breakdowns, funky grooves and hard rock pentatonic moments. Karmic Link’s new album Dark Metropolis (2018) is an album sourcing musicianship from Greece, Norway and USA, different cultures bound together to offer an alternative metal experience!

Vancouver progressive metal band KOSM is sharing their latest guitar playthrough for their track “The Esoteric Order”. The playthrough showcases the dual shredding of KOSM‘s guitarist Erik Leonoard and Mike Slater who play Kiesel and PRS guitars respectively, along with using a blend of Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifiers and Scuffham Digital Amps. The ambient sounds heard at the end of the track are created with a combination of the El Capistan dTape Delay pedal by Strymon and the Afterneath Reverb pedal by Earthquaker Devices.

Watch the shredding via GearGods.net at http://geargods.net/playthrough/kosm-esoteric-order-playthrough/

The track is third single off of KOSM‘s debut full length “Cosmonaut” released this past November and is influenced from the cosmic-horror of H.P. Lovecraft and classic science-fiction of others; the album and song tell the story of a cosmonaut’s transformative journey through time and space.

The band adds:

“Cosmonaut is a concept album loosely based on the weird-fiction of HP Lovecraft, and borrowing concepts from the science-fiction of Frank Herbert, and Roger Zelazny. The album follows a cosmonaut on a cosmic journey through time and space; from the earthly confines of mortal life, to ascendancy as an immaterial and omnipotent being. The cosmonaut’s journey is essentially symbolic, serving as a commentary on the human experience: a journey from confusion and anger, to transcendence and self-understanding.”

“Cosmonaut” is available on all major digital platforms Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play.

“Vancouver’s KOSM kick the door in with Cosmonaut, their monstrous full-length debut. Brace yourself for a satisfying trip through an exciting mountain range of cascading, meaty riffs, swelling rises and heady drops, all led by the powerful, soaring vocals of the dynamic Jessie Grace. ” – Beatroute BC

“KOSM cite Tool, Gojira and Mastodon as three of their main influences, and all three can be heard loud and clear on their new album, Cosmonaut. The technical, progressive musicianship of Tool meets the crushing grooves and rhythmic vocals of Gojira, and Mastodon’s ear for riffy, thunderous prog are all present on Cosmonaut, which features some of the most technical metal I’ve heard this year outside of, you know, technical death metal. ” – Decibel Magazine

“The song (Ancient Heart) itself, which swings between some appetizingly heavy progressive riffs and aggressive growls and more melodic moments (with clean singing behind them). A tough band to place in that regard, but one certainly worth seeking out as they continue to expand their sound.” – DeadRhetoric
“KOSM does a solid job of mixing technicality, mood and groove.  They have all sorts of dual guitar sections, and very psychedelic and moody parts on “Cosmonaut” as well.  They’re a well versed band with all kinds of moods and changes engaging your ears every split second. ” – Technical Music Review

“KOSM definitely show enough potential with this release to be a band that should be on your scopes.” – Noizze UK

” Kosm’s Cosmonaut isn’t bland: it’s the pleasing sound of a band following their own inner vision.” 9/10 – Hellbound

“Magnetic, untamed, infamous and regaled for their strange and sensational stage shows, White Cowbell Oklahoma is the country-fried boogie rock sandwich you didn’t know you were craving.” – Beatroute AB

“given live performances that seem to feature more people onstage than in the audience, chainsaws, strippers, decimated stuffed things (turkeys, play toys and so on), they do aspire to have their music appreciated to the same extent that their image is co-opted, gawked at and gossiped about.” Exclaim!”

“White Cowbell Oklahoma add a touch of psych to their trashy hard rock formula…hellraising Southern-rock-tinged rock ‘n’ roll.” – Now Toronto

There’s no warm-up for White Cowbell Oklahoma’s sixth full-length release, recorded at Zeus’s Toronto studio and also in concert in Amsterdam. As in their live shows, where flames and power tools feature prominently, the underrated Toronto old-school rockers throw us into the fire immediately, and that fire doesn’t die until long after the final chords – from not one, not two, but three guitars – ring out.” – Now Toronto (2015 Mixto Sixto Review)“a fist-pumping, anthemnic set of songs thick on low-end, pelvic thrust and grit. Easily their most confident effort to date, it displays a new Bell that is streamlined and primed for attack. ” – Exclaim! (2009 Bombardero Review)
