Canadian Tour Coming June 2019

Edmonton’s PROTOSEQUENCE is preparing for a cross Canada tour this June, bringing their face-melting mix of modern and technical death metal to familiar Western Canadian cities and new ones in the East.
Before hitting the road they are sharing with fans a brand new pummeling single “A Blunt Description of Something Obscene” to follow their 2017 EP “Biophagous”. The single can be heard via TheCirclePit‘s YouTube channel at the following link: https://youtu.be/O6CBmHo-7SQ
The band adds:
“We are thrilled to finally release our new song “A Blunt Description of Something Obscene“. This track was mixed and mastered by Diego Fernandez of Oracle Studios and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. We hope you all enjoy!”
Having solidified their following in the underground scene around Western Canada, with appearances at Armstrong and Metallion Festivals along with touring through British Columbia and Alberta plus sharing the stage with such well-known acts including The Faceless, Angelmaker, Ingested, and Signs of the Swarm. PROTOSEQUENCE are now ready to conquer the Eastern side of Canada on their June tour in support of their two EPs ‘Biophagous’ (2017) and ‘Schizophrene’ (2016) along with a new fresh single set to be released in April. The band is looking forward to partying with existing fans as well as gaining new ones who might also be admirers of similar sounding extreme metal acts such as Abiotic, The Faceless, and early Fallujah.
The band comments:
“We are really excited to be finally hitting some cities in the East as well as returning to some of our favorites in the West. We have been tucked away reinventing ourselves and can’t wait to show people the “New” Protosequence. If we are in your town, come out and say hi. Let’s have a drink and talk metal, pets and partying.”

About:
Protosequence was formed in the spring of 2014 by five guys who shared the same goal: create an array of songs that reflected each of them personally. As Autumn approached that year, the band started to play in Edmonton, as well as Central and Southern Alberta. Releasing their debut 4 song EP “Schizophrene” in January of 2016, they quickly established a name for themselves in the Edmonton and area metal scene. Bassist Ryan Schaffler left the band in early 2017, with Jacob Teeple filling the vacancy seamlessly. After taking to the road, completing a 10-day tour of Western Canada in June, they hit the studio and released their sophomore 4 song EP “Biophagous” in August of 2017. 2018 saw Protosequence solidify and expand their following around Western Canada. Playing Armstrong and Metallion Festival, touring through BC, as well as sharing the stage with touring acts like The Faceless, Angelmaker, Ingested, Signs of the Swarm, Bodysnatcher, and others. In August, vocalist Joe McKee announced his retirement from Protosequence, with guitarist Kyle Hunter following suit a few weeks later. Protosequence quickly added Josh Hahn to the mix on vocals after seeing him perform with his previous band, Seraphic Nihilist. Shortly after Metallion Festival, the band convinced him to move from Prince George, BC, to the motherland: Edmonton, Alberta. With no luck finding a replacement guitarist, the band pressed on into writing mode.

“Edmonton’s Protosequence perform an agile balancing act on the new song “Shepherd” we’re bringing you from their forthcoming EP, Biophagus, a high-wire performance that deftly straddles a stylistic divide without ever losing their path forward.” – No Clean Singing
“In the vein of bands like All Shall Perish & Born of Osiris, Protosequence kick proceedings off with the furiously tech riffing of Parasitic, a wild & untamed slab of death metal. That is until a surprising tempo change that brings in some keyboards & more classic metal sounding guitar solo. It’s a damn strong start, one that leaves you wondering just what more Biophagous has to offer.” – Games, Braaaiiins And A Headbanging Life
“Biophagous is of another caliber, every aspect of it is flawless, and will not only be in my playlist but should be in everyone else’s as well. Whatever you do, do not sleep on this band. Make sure you pick up Biophagus when it releases August 18th! ” – Blood Rock Media
“Protosequence is an act of quality over quantity. I get seriously lost in their music, be it through a spine-damaging headbanging session (“DFL”) or stretch of melodic introspection (“Shepherd”). Biophagous offers up another nice showcase of the band’s skill across a variety of substyles and paces.” – Metal Trenches
“Incorporating elements from deathcore, technical death metal, and, yes, even djent, Protosequence manages to maintain the listener’s interest while developing an identity that is not only unique to Canada, but to the world. ” – It Djents

Ottawa’s ACCURSED SPAWN have unleashed a shredding guitar playthrough for their track “Dogmatic Affliction” in support of their debut infection “The Virulent Host” released this past March via PRC Music.
Teaming up with Antichrist Mag, the playthrough can be viewed at the following link: https://antichristmagazine.com/exclusive-premiere-accursed-spawn-dogmatic-affliction-guitar-playthrough/
Guitarist Paul Kelly adds:
“‘Dogmatic Affliction’ starts you off with a groovy kick mixed with some brutal riffs that progressively gets more frantic throughout the song. This one makes for a solid closing track to ‘The Virulent Host’ record…personally one of my favorites to rip through.”
Founded in Ottawa in 2010 with a singular purpose to transform raw aggression into music, ACCURSED SPAWN mixes influences from old and new forms of extreme metal, resulting to date in a renowned energetic live show, and a handful of recorded songs.
With a unique sound and style that stands apart from the crowd, ACCURSED SPAWN‘s debut full length is the next step in the band’s evolution of musical expression to follow a mix of demos and EPs since 2010.
“The Virulent Host” is a fiery and passionate take on modern death metal, influenced by thrash and brutal death that stands head and shoulders above many of their contemporaries. The production quality truly stands among the titans of death metal, thanks to Chris Donaldson, guitarist for legendary death metal unit Cryptopsy applying his talents and experience to mix and master the album at The Grid Studios in Montreal, QC. Donaldson has previously worked on records for high profile names such as Cryptopsy, Beyond Creation, Despised Icon, The Agonist, Beneath The Massacre, and Neuraxis. The artwork was done by highly esteemed artist Remy Cooper of Headsplit Design (Origin, Beyond Creation, Psycroptic, Pig Destroyer, Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder, Cryptopsy, Suicide Silence, Arch Enemy).

“Canadian death metal machine Accursed Spawn are snapping necks with their fast-paced, groove-heavy take on the genre, as you’ll hear on “Bhopal ’84.” Leading with angular riffs before settling into a whiplash-inducing groove, Accursed Spawn inject brief bursts of technicality throughout the song, keeping it engaging throughout the four minutes.” – Decibel Magazine
“If you’re a fan of fast-paced captivating guitar riffage, unrelenting drum battering, shrieking gutteral vocals, and song hooks that’ll keep you coming back, then Accursed Spawn brought Christmas a little early for ya with the release of their new video “The Virulent Host”.” – Metal Injection
“Right out of the gate they explode in a brutal, hyper-accelerated frenzy of munitions-grade drumming, machine-gun riffing, and guttural roaring.” – No Clean Singing
“A barrage of thunderous drums is complemented by sometimes intricate guitar work that will just tear you ears apart. These guys barely slow down long enough for you to take half a breath.” – The Metal Crypt
“Death Metal Worth Its Salt” – Yell! Magazine
“‘Bhopal 84’ is anger with a purpose, the brutal and violent lyrics of death metal hit so much harder when you realize that the horrors they are describing are accounts of a true event. “As long as corporate greed overshadows human need, the elite will succeed whilst the rest of us bleed” Luke Wargasm roars, and it is impossible not to share his anger towards a faceless corporation that is responsible for the deaths of so many without consequence. Whilst the lyrics and message are commendable, they would mean nothing if the music wasn’t up to scratch. ‘Bhopal 84’ sees ‘Accursed Spawn’ at the top of their game with thundering drums and savage riffs throughout. Easily one of the best songs that ‘Accursed Spawn’ have released so far, we are very excited to see how the band progress in their upcoming debut.” – Spirit Level Magazine
