ABOUT:
Nastyville is an Italian hard rock band formed in 2012 by drummer Danny Boy and guitarist David “Dave Wild,” with the aim of refreshing the rock genre. The first studio album, “Viva Hell-A” (released in 2015), features old-fashioned guitar riffs and the flavor of the best street/glam rock with Lex on vocals, Kruska on bass guitar, and Manuel on guitar. After Lex and Kruska left, the band continued its journey with Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals and Fabian Anderchen on bass guitar, releasing in 2017 their second studio album, “Glam Caramel”. This album, marked by heavier sounds, gave the band the opportunity to open the Italian tour dates for Skid Row, Crashdïet, Enuff Z’Nuff, Adam Bomb, John Corabi, Simon Wright, and many others. “Songs of Threesome”, released in 2022, was their third studio album and featured a new lineup with Christian “Dega” on guitar and Paul “Cannibal” (ex-Thee S.T.P.) on bass guitar.

In 2023, founding member and drummer Danny Boy and bassist Paul left the band and were soon replaced by Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar. After the release of the two singles “Red Black…Or Green?” and “Livin’ in A Mess”, the band with its new lineup consisting of Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals, David “Dave Wild” on guitar, Christian “Dega” on guitar, Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar, worked tirelessly on new studio material. The year 2024 was a very good year when the band played many dates across Italy and abroad. The opening act for Steel Panther in Milan (Alcatraz) deserves special mention. The band spent the last months of the year working on a brand-new album, entering the studio in December to start recording their fourth studio album under the supervision of producer, singer, and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 11, 2025

HELLFOX Unveils First Single/ Video “Seaweed Braids”

New Album “The Spectrum of Human Gravity” Out June 2025 via Rockshots Records

Rockshots Records proudly announces the first single and official video from HELLFOX, an all-female band that blends melodic death and alternative metal with a sharp emotional edge. Titled “Seaweed Braids“, the song anticipates their upcoming album “The Spectrum of Human Gravity”, a bold and emotional journey set for release next June. 6th 2025.

Merging the power of melodic death metal with the versatility of alternative metal, HELLFOX stands out as a rare all-female force in the extreme metal scene. Drawing inspiration from bands like Amorphis, In Flames, and Dark Tranquillity, the band deliberately steers away from symphonic tropes, instead crafting a sound based on heavy riffs, acid and distorted synths, and dual female vocals — one melodic, one growled — to shape a modern and visceral sonic identity.

“Seaweed Braids“ is a melancholic and introspective track that opens the emotional arc of the new album. As the band explains, the song evokes the image of a fragile creature submerged in deep waters — a metaphor for a soul lost in pain and memory. Lyrically, the track reflects on the irreversible moment when we realize what we’ve lost and can only sing a lullaby to the waves.

The upcoming album, “The Spectrum of Human Gravity,” explores human emotions without judgment or analysis, focusing instead on acceptance and the weight each feeling carries depending on personal wounds and life experience. The lyrics touch on heavy yet universal themes — from loneliness and suicide to mental health and identity — always through metaphor and imagery, allowing each listener to find personal meaning in the music.

The band’s name reflects their dual nature: introspective yet fierce, fluid yet grounded. Each member brings a distinct musical background, united by the desire to break boundaries and tell stories that resonate with the rawest corners of the human experience.

ABOUT:

HELLFOX is an ALL FEMALE alternative metal (alt-metal) band with melodic death tendencies. Despite the four completely different musical backgrounds, we share a common inspiration to Amorphis, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity as far as composition is concerned, while for the choice of sounds it was our intention to move away from the Symphonic, recognizably feminine scenario to include acid and distorted synths so that we could create modern atmospheres that more closely met our tastes and better married the pop timbre of the melodic vocals. The dualism of HELLFOX is not meant to be understood on a conflicting level, it is instead the result of different voices within the human soul, different faces if you will, that mingle and generate the person itself, in its entirety, that although they seem to struggle, they coexist and create harmony and balance. We don’t use masks to conform to a mass, nor do we want to stand out at all costs, we just want to be ourselves in a society where normality is only a surface, the abyss instead is made up of so many facets of personality, both for the group and especially for the individual human being. Ours is a message within everyone’s reach, in which one can recognize oneself: that little voice in the head that either draws you in or drives you away… Because for us, nothing is normal, nothing is different.

0 Rockshots Records – DYING AWKWARD ANGEL Release New Single “Music Kills”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 11, 2025

DYING AWKWARD ANGEL Release New Single “Music Kills”

Italian melodic death metal act Dying Awkward Angel unleash their brand-new single “Music Kills”, a powerful mid-tempo composition that highlights the band’s continued evolution while remaining firmly rooted in the legacy of Scandinavian death metal.

Characterized by a raw and uncompromising sound, “Music Kills” draws inspiration from the early ‘90s Swedish scene—specifically, bands such as Dismember and Entombed—and channels the iconic HM-2 guitar tone into a modern, groove-driven framework. The result is a track that is both punishing and memorable, blending brutal riffs, visceral vocals, and an ominous atmosphere.

Lyrically, the song delves into the ambivalent nature of music itself, exploring its potential to both uplift and consume. This thematic depth adds an introspective dimension to the band’s sonic aggression, further establishing their unique voice within the international melodic death metal landscape.

Following their critically praised 2018 full-length “Absence of Light”, “Music Kills” marks a significant step forward for Dying Awkward Angel. While known for their fast-paced and relentless songwriting, the band now embraces a darker, more deliberate approach—one that prioritizes atmosphere and weight without sacrificing intensity.

The release of “Music Kills” also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. In the coming weeks, the band will unveil further details surrounding their upcoming full-length album, which promises to expand on the themes and sonic direction explored in this latest track.

For fans of Dismember, Entombed, At The Gates, and all those drawn to the raw edge of melodic death metal, “Music Kills” stands as a compelling statement of intent.

Formed in 1998, Dying Awkward Angel draws inspiration from the ’90s extreme metal scene of Gothenburg, the UK, and the USA, with influences from bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Carcass, Slayer, Death, Pantera, and Metallica. The band’s early releases, “Dying Awkward Angel” and “Ghost at the Spine,” received excellent critical acclaim. After some line-up changes, the band stabilized in 2013 and recorded the full-length album “Waiting for Punishment”.

In 2015, the EP “Madness Rising” showcased a more mature and modern songwriting mixing old-school brutality with melodic incursions. In 2017, with the addition of Michele Spallieri (Kenos) as the vocalist, the band released the album “Absence Of Light” in 2018 (Extreme Metal Music / Rockshots Records), distributed across Europe, the USA, and Japan. Over the years, the band has shared the stage with renowned names such as Impaled Nazarene, **enos, Decapitated, Necronomicon, Forgotten Tomb, and many others.

Line-up:
Michele Spallieri: Vocals
Demuro Edoardo: Guitars,
Lorenzo Asselli: Guitars
Luca Pellegrino: Drums
Davide Onida: Bass Guitar

WOODHAWK Reveals First Single “Strangers Ever After” From New Album “Love Finds A Way” Out June 2025

Portrait by Mark Kowalchuk

Canadian stoner rock powerhouse Woodhawk returns with the announcement of their highly anticipated third studio album, “Love Finds A Way,” set for release on June 6, 2025, via Grand Hand Records. The Calgary trio of Turner Midzain (guitar/vocals), Mike Badmington (bass), and Kevin Nelson (drums) are also dropping the record’s first single, “Strangers Ever After,” toda,y giving fans their first taste of new Woodhawk material since 2019’s acclaimed “Violent Nature”. The band comments on the new single:

“This was the first song we wrote for this album. And I think we reworked it more than any song. It started out with a completely different feel and timing than what we ended up with. It was way darker. But we kept coming back to it and really loved the result. Strangers Ever After is a kind of demise of a relationship. The farewell to someone that maybe…you were better off never knowing. This is dark and honest.”

“Love Finds A Way” marks an evolution in the band’s creative journey. Their earlier work was very much influenced by bands like The Sword and Black Sabbath, with lyrics about wizards and goblins, but they’ve worked hard on bringing more emotion to their writing. The nine-track album promises to deliver the dynamic range fans have come to expect from Woodhawk, featuring what Midzain describes as ‘some really riff-rocking songs, but also a lot of hardship and honesty’.

“Strangers Ever After” showcases the band’s signature blend of classic hard rock sensibilities and modern stoner metal influences, delivering the infectious grooves and memorable hooks that have earned Woodhawk a devoted following since their formation in 2014. They are recommended for fans of The Sword, Red Fang, and Thin Lizzy.

“Their brand of this style sounds far more refreshing and has a modern rock ‘n roll kind of aura to go along, slightly ringing in signs of alternative influence. The end result is as if Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy had a child born in the age of Chevelle. With that said, this is immaculate. ” – Indy Metal Vault (Violent Nature – 2019)

“this is really the kind of rock that fans of classic U.K. metal in the ’70s will be instantly taken with. Sounds really good turned-up really loud, which is always a good test.” – Vancouver Sun (Violent Nature – 2019)

“Violent Nature kicks off with the slithering riffs of “Snake in the Grass,” which comes crawling up slowly before striking with a venomous fuzz-riffy attack, and a soaring, fist-raising chorus. “Weightless Light” gets my head nodding right away with a solid stoner rock riff, while giving off a pretty decent Monster Truck vibe in the chorus – I can see why they made it the pre-release single.” – Hellbound (Violent Nature – 2019)

“This is what music is about. When you put yourself out there, you connect with others on a deeper level and that’s always a win.” – The Music Below (Violent Nature – 2019)

“Violent Nature surpasses their debut and then some; the Rocky Mountain trio have harnessed the best of the past, given it a fresh coat of paint, made me smile and just enjoy rock and roll in its purest form…” – The Sleeping Shaman (Violent Nature – 2019)

“going by the lead single “Weightless Light” it seems like whatever they’re making the songs about, Woodhawk still bring the same sense of songcraft to their material, which is always good to know.” – The Obelisk (Violent Nature – 2019)

“We are over the moon to get this album out. Love Finds a Way is easily the hardest we have worked on an album to date. We poured our heart and soul into this one. It really is a journey of getting out of the darkness and into the light. Check in with your friends and loved ones. Hug the ones you love. Be nicer to each other. Love will always prevail and be stronger than anything else. After 10 years of being a band, I feel like we are still just getting started!” – Woodhawk

“Calgary’s Woodhawk returns after five years with new album” – Calgary Herald

Top 30 Chart: Aug 8 – 14, 2025 – #16 – Woodhawk – CKUA Radio Alberta

“Love Finds A Way is a moving, introspective, and incredibly honest trek. Doubts and regrets are aired like candid confessions… The music moves the sentiment of these nine songs with a crisp, stalwart beat from drummer Kevin Nelson and robust bass rhythms from Mike Badmington (who also shares vocals throughout the album). The flow is undeniable in the closing number “Killing Time,” which is to me the gem of the collection. It’s about being gaslit in a relationship, waking up, and rediscovering a sense of self and is just so thoughtfully written from the catchy beat to the vocal phrasing and the guitar solo and addition of the piano… While I’ve made much to-do about the lyrical force of the album, it takes every member of the band to really pull it off and make us believers. Woodhawk is working like a well-oiled machine one EP and three albums into their career, making this a wholly convincing spin track after track.” – Doomed and Stoned

“Woodhawk built a reputation for themselves in the stoner scene, however you wouldn’t necessarily call Love Finds A Way a generic stoner record. There are certainly some fuzzy riffs, however the sound is more of a conglomeration of classic blues rock, some old-fashioned NWOBHM energy and a liberal sprinkling of 90s hard rock (especially in the vocals). But, the main thing that dominates is the GROOVE. With some frenetic guitars, an intense rhythm section and some funky keyboard action, groove is not only in the heart, it’s in the lungs, the kidneys, and the reproductive organs. Hell, it’s running more rampant through the body than a particularly virulent dose of the clap. With all but 3 of the songs clocking in over 5 minutes, these guys have the time and space to track down a killer groove and nail the little bastard down tight. A great album that gets better with each listen. As Haddaway once asked, ‘What is Love?’ …this is! 4.5/5″ – Metal Epidemic

“Love Finds A Way is so damn catchy. Some of these songs will get very stuck in your head, and these guys understand melody, combined with hard rock, as well as any of the best bands out there. There is a bluesy feel at some points and a grunge vibe during others, but regardless of what you label it, this is some killer heavy rock… Love Finds A Way is some next level heavy rock. I hesitate to call it stoner rock, just like I would not call Valley Of The Sun stoner rock, but Woodhawk have created something special with the nine songs on their third, and best record to date. Love the vocals, love the riffs, love the organ, love the emotion, and love Love Finds A Way. 9/10″ – Musipedia of Metal

“One of Canada’s best Stoner Rock bands WoodHawk make a welcome return with Love Finds A Way where the band play a more amplified style of Heavy Rock music with focus primarily on melody and aggression. Taking up the LOUD RAWK mantle of bands such as THIN LIZZY, THE SWORD, BLACK SABBATH and LED ZEPP. WoodHawk bring a soulful and highly energetic style of Classic Blues Rock into the mix… WoodHawk impresses on every level with Love Finds A Way which allows this record to be their best album yet which you will be listening to for a very long time to come. Add this record to your collection and if you’re a fan of Old School Heavy Rock then this is the place to be. Outstanding. End Of.” – Outlaws of the Sun

“From the raucous energy of  trangers Ever After  to the moody, keyboard-tinged doom of  The Unholy Hand,  the album is consistently engaging. It’s a banger from start to finish, successfully blending hard rock thunder with a sense of tender vulnerability. Love Finds A Way is a highly recommended listen for any fan of heavy, melodic rock. It captures Woodhawk not just as skilled musicians, but as evolved songwriters who have crafted their finest and most relatable album yet.” – Alt Yeg Music Magazine

“Love Finds A Way is an album that cements the trio as first-class songwriters. The doom/stoner elements of the band’s earlier outings remain infused in their DNA, but they’ve been augmented with a genuinely striking ability to pen tunes that sink into your brain. These songs straddle the worlds between biting hard rock and heavy metal thunder, while carrying an almost poppy sense of tender vulnerability. The long wait was absolutely worth it. This album is a banger.” – The Sleeping Shaman

“Stoner rockers’ Woodhawk have just dropped their new single “Strangers Ever After” and it ROCKS! Heavy, driving and just spot-on as a great selection for the first single from their forthcoming 3rd album “Love Finds A Way” which is slated for a June 6th release (we’ve also had the opportunity to preview the new album and it’s pretty amazing). In the meanwhile, you can catch “Strangers Ever After” on your Home for the Best New Rock… W-J-O-EEEE” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll

“Even though “Love Finds A Way” opens up energetically as usual with ‘Grave Shaker’ and ‘Strangers Ever After’, the tension between the tried and tested band sound and further development soon becomes audible. On the one hand, the album sounds typically like WOODHAWK, we listen to heavy rock with a clear stoner side and rich guitar riffs, but on the other hand, the record seems more mature and serious. 8/10″ – PowerMetal.de

“Calgary trio Woodhawk have got that swing on their new single “Strangers Ever After,” which is the first single to come from their aspirationally-titled new album, Love Finds a Way, due out June 6 on Grand Hand Records. There’s classic-style, organ-enhanced boogie meeting with a modern production and tonal fullness, all aligned around a central push and tense sections of chug — skillfully wrought, melodic, clear in its intention to engage but not without expressive purpose either. It keeps its balance after spinning around in a few circles, and the solo is class before the bluesy verse returns to round out. Been six years, but that happens sometimes. Cool to have a new one coming from these guys either way. ” – The Obelisk (2025)

“Psychedelic Stoner Rockers WOODHAWK return from a six year slumber with their upcoming and absolutely stunning new album Love Finds A Way. With swirling Psychedelic melodies married with Grunge, Doom and heavy groovy soundscapes, this sees the band in inspired form.” – Outlaws of The Sun (2025)

“Woodhawk from Canada immediately conjures up appealing associations, with both stoner and seventies hard rock. It is catchy, can hold the tension quite well, and is skillfully performed… The songs themselves are often really strong as a whole; beautiful lines, catchy hooks and just enough variation in the arrangements, with a very fine sense of timing. An album that certainly deserves a serious listen.” – Rockportaal (2025)

“THE ÜBER ROCK SINGLES CLUB DAILY PICK – WOODHAWK – STRANGERS EVER AFTER” – Uber Rock (2025)

“Love Finds A Way is a ravishing and excellent album from start to finish. The three-piece band joins a list of fantastic bands emerging from the Great White North. Woodhawk are in the top tier of quality for hard rock bands from Canada.” – Jam Yeti Music Blog

About The Album Artwork:

It was the concept of how small we all can be in the grand scheme. This hand is holding an orb, inside which is a guy who appears lost, just holding a lantern as he gazes upon this vast landscape. Just finding his way through. Isn’t that true of all of us in life?

But through all this, being in the orb, bubble, world, whatever..love finds a way. Love always prevails and wins. It’s what keeps us driven and what we work the hardest for. Love.

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

It’s a journey through the last couple years. All of us went through some hard times and to no surprise the pandemic wasn’t much better! We weren’t really sure if we would continue being a band or not. But we prevailed and are stronger than ever. It’s about love and friendship. And getting through things together. Checking in on your loved ones and friends.

1. Grave Shaker – This one is about change. Growth through the years. And sometimes you outgrow the patterns you were in, the people you surrounded yourself and the habits you had. It’s an evolution. It can be very uncomfortable to change who you are. It’s a huge leap of vulnerability. But being true to yourself and keeping your head up.

2. Stranger Ever After – Through changes and growth, sometimes you lose people along the way that were once very close to you. Be it a partner, spouse, friend etc. Someone who was once your closest person can become the opposite if you grow in different directions. And maybe after all, we were just better off being Strangers.

3. Truth Be Told – This was a breakthrough of just saying how I felt. Up until this point, I wasn’t being honest with myself on how I felt, who I was, and who I wanted to be. This is kind of a farewell to the past and welcome to the future. Sometimes the truth hurts.

4. White Crosses – This is the death of a friend, relationship or even marriage. ‘How did we end up here? Is this what we hoped for?’
No one ever expects to go their separate ways. No one gets into something with the plan to get out. And through any separation or grief, you pass these moments and memories along the way. Sort of like the little white crosses we see planted along the roadside where someone lost their life. Little reminders of what was. Gone but not forgotten.

5. The Unholy Hand – The remnants of something fallen and destroyed, only to be built back up again. This higher power, that yields good or bad. All within and without our control.

6. No Place For Hate – This one is a little more on the nose. The world we live in feels like it has just become more filled with hate, homophobia, transphobia, racism and bigotry. We all have 0 tolerance for this. We try to not ever be a political band, but this just felt really important to us and flowed naturally. Love one another. It’s way harder to hate than it is to love.

7. Love Finds a Way – This was a triumphant song that was a coming of age for us. Love is at the heart of everything. And if you love something, set it free. It will come back to you if it’s meant to be. This really embodied so much of how I felt and how we as a band felt. We had to hit a bit of a pause on our band to see if we still wanted to do it. Lots had changed and were still changing. But at the end of the day, we are 3 very close friends, and that is so important to us. We felt like our love for each other really kept us together, and found a way for all of us. We are genuinely closer as friends than ever before.

8. Relapser – This was an honest take on feeling like you have grown up and evolved and become better. Only at the same time to feel like you easily fall into old habits and patterns again that you tried so hard to escape. It drags you back down, and it feels like you must start all over again.

9. Killing Time – It started as a lot of self-reflection and feeling quite lost. I felt really gaslit in a previous relationship, and it took me a while to really snap out of it and see what was going on. But also trying to navigate my way back to who I am and who we are as people. Does anyone care? Do I still care? Or are we just killing time? I really wanted this to be a farewell to the old and a door opening to what was ahead. And if it was the last song people ever heard of our band, then I felt it was the best way to possibly say goodbye.

Fun Facts – Story Angles

1. In 2016, when we were recording our first LP, Beyond The Sun, we were in Vancouver at Rain City Recorders. We were maybe a couple days into it, and our producer stops after one of the takes and says, ‘Turner, you need to check your phone. Someone is trying to get a hold of you to open for Airbourne tomorrow night!’ So I checked my phone and he was right. And within a couple of phone calls, we were set up to play the Commodore Ballroom the next night to open up a sold-out show for Airbourne. We still tracked all day and the next day. Then loaded up, played the coolest show ever, and went back the next day to the studio to keep tracking like that blur of a gig hadn’t even happened.

2. We were touring Canada in Spring 2018 and made our way out to Ontario. Most of the weather thus far had been fine. Mild spring weather. On our way back around the Canadian shield to head to Thunder Bay and make our trek home, we stopped by Turner’s grandmother’s house in Barrie, ON. We had to have only been there for 45 minutes. At this time, a wild snowstorm blew in, and we got stuck at the bottom of a large hill near the lake. We had to get towed up to the top, drive through what felt like a foot of snow in our not-so-great van and trailer. Only to get to the highway…to find out it was closed due to the storm and an accident. From there, not wanting to miss any shows, we detoured back south, then over to North Bay. All the while, our heat in the van dies. We bundled up in sleeping bags and ponchos to get through it. This was the WORST drive we have ever taken to date.

3. In 2020, we all either quit our jobs, got fired, or took an indefinite leave of absence to spend our time on the road touring our album, Violent Nature. We were booked for all of Canada, Europe, and the USA to follow. Within days of paying our gear deposit for Europe, about to book flights and leave the next day for the Canadian tour, the pandemic fully shut everything down. Somehow, 2 of us managed to save our jobs. One of us is not so lucky. We saw so many of our friends and peers get stuck out on tours and have to travel home safely during the pandemic. We were so lucky that it could have happened to us, but we avoided it by a little over 24 hours.

Rimouski, Quebec’s Vortex, has their highly anticipated concept EP, “Alien Realms,” being unleashed on April 11th, and before it officially drops, they have teamed up with Decibel Magazine for its full stream premiere HERE.

“Alien Realms” is a four-track journey through cosmic horror and discovery that showcases the band at their most refined, combining massive orchestral elements with soaring epic melodies and relentless, aggressive riffing. Keeping with the style present in the previous two records, this orchestral blackened death tells a wicked tale of humanity venturing into space in search of intelligent life. The band comments on the record:

“This is a Blackened Death EP that blends massive orchestral elements, soaring epic melodies, and relentless, aggressive riffing. On this new EP, we doubled down on what worked best in our previous album, ‘The Future Remains in Oblivion.’ If you’re into massive orchestras and melodies blended with aggressive riffs and Blackened Death vocals, then ‘Alien Realms’ is for you.”

The EP features a carefully crafted sequence of tracks: “When Humans Defy the Void”, “Haunting the Abyss”, “Ripping The Threads Of Reality”, and “Where Wonders Dwell”. Each song serves as a chapter in the band’s exploration of humanity’s search for intelligent life among the stars.

The band approached this EP with a clear vision; the music and lyrics work together to build intensity and emotion as the story unfolds. It represents the next evolution in Vortex‘s sound, building upon the foundation laid by their previous releases while pushing into new territorial extremes. The EP seamlessly blends the band’s technical death metal roots with expanded orchestral elements and black metal influences, creating their most ambitious and fully realized work to date. It is recommended for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Dimmu Borgir, and Cradle of Filth.

Fans in Eastern Canada will also have a chance to see Vortex live. They will be touring with France’s XAON in April (dates listed below) and then Europe in the fall.

“There is not one weak song on the EP. The songs are well crafted and mastered by hugely talented musicians. For me the perfect 10. Can’t wait to see the songs performed live.” – Project Metal Music

“When Humans Defy The Void is, like its creators Vortex, unique, and unlike anything else you have ever heard. It is everything you think it would be, but cranked up to eleven and with more twists and turns than a Raymond Chandler novel, and if this is just a taster of what Alien Realms has to offer, then I can’t wait to be abducted on April 11th.” – Black Metal Archive

“No need to fuck around with this one folks; I loved Alien Realms from the first intense beats of “When Humans Defy the Void” to the fading notes of the haunting “Where Wonders Dwell”. Vortex’sAlien Realms pulls you in with its unpredictable symphonic blackened melodic death metal that blends elements of bands like Mechina, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Behemoth with the likes of Dimmu Borgir, Graveworm and Hermh. Needless to say, this is a DENSE little EP full of some unique metal.” – The Poser’s Graveyard

Canadian College Radio Charts – August 2023 – top 20 loud – #14 Vortex (earshot)

“#8 on Top 10 Quebec Band 2023 Albums – The Future Remains In Oblivion delivers a solid punch with their intense and well-felt symphonic death metal and, with a quality product like this, they have nothing to envy of the big names in the genre.” – Thorium Mag

“The Future Remains in Oblivion is the collision zone between powdered wig classical and battle jacketed death metal that should hold appeal for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and those who like their Suffocation mixed with Dimmu Borgir.” – Decibel Magazine

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

Extreme metal outfit Autumn Lies Buried is unleashing its blistering new single “Debt of Silence,” accompanied by a music video. The track serves as the first glimpse into the band’s upcoming EP “Mob Mentality,” scheduled for release on June 6th, 2025, via Exitus Stratagem Records. “Debt of Silence” delivers the band’s signature combination of breakneck energy, socially conscious lyrics, and unrelenting heaviness that fans have come to expect. Vocalist Kaelin Wilkins comments:

“Given the current political climate of the US, I felt it necessary to write about silencing a lot of them. I felt like America just needs a hard reset, and it starts by not giving these fascists in free-world clothing the clout they have. They owe us a debt of silence. A ritual dismemberment of corrupt leadership. Cutting of the tongue is symbolic as well as literal.”

Autumn Lies Buried continues to evolve their sound, which draws from a diverse palette of influences including slam, mathcore, hardcore, hip hop, and deathcore. The result is what the band describes as “a beating with a cinder block’ that creates a cathartic experience for listeners.”

This release marks the beginning of an exciting summer for Autumn Lies Buried, with another single planned for May and the full EP release coinciding with the kickoff of their Hell Howler Tour alongside Casket Robbery, My Own Will and Australia’s Nicolas Cage Fighter on June 6th. They are recommended for fans of Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, and Tech n9ne.

RED CAIN Drops New Single “FWAB” (Fire, Water, Air, Blood) Ahead of Hyperspace Metal Fest Performance!

Set to perform at this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC on April 10th, power prog storytellers RED CAIN are unveiling their new single “FWAB” (Fire Water, Air, Blood). With its heavy balalaika breakdown, downtuned heavy riffs, and soaring harmonized choruses among atmospheric industrial synth backing, “FWAB” hits hard and never lets go – a primeval ritual chant in front of cold stone, on a frozen steppe, among howling winds.

The band explains the story of the track in further detail:

“In the frozen Eastern European steppes, there stood a fell ancient god. Every ill word fed him, and every ill deed made him more potent. For millennia, he grew strong through kingship over mortal ill will, suffering, and pride, until his nourishment took a new form, unable to feed or strengthen. Without nourishment, the god was powerless, and without power, he slept. After millennia, fed full by ill words and ill deeds, searching for an awakening, the god demands the symbols of his power: Fire, Water, Air, Blood. Join the ritual sacrament of Chernobog. With this new release, the Slavic pagan ritual to call forth the “Black God” takes flight, asking the listener what they would be willing to change their fate.”

Red Cain will be performing on night one of this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver, BC, on April 10th at The Cobalt alongside Glyph, Tower Hill, Serpent Rider, and Crüzer. Full details on the Hyperspace Metal Festival being held from April 10th to 12th can be found at https://www.facebook.com/HyperspaceMetalFestival

Red Cain, from Calgary, Canada, is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. They have been making waves since their first release in 2016, with award-winning music videos and concept albums “Kindred: Act I”, “Kindred: Act II,” and “NÄE’BLISS”. The albums contained a ton of genre inspirations, from gothic rock to ambient electronica, power, black, and death metal, and were universally lauded for their inventiveness, variety, and strong conceptual content. They continue this momentum with forthcoming releases.

“NAE’ BLISS is a fine example of world-class Metal. With every album they grow in statue and status they can stand shoulder to shoulder with the titans of the genre.” – Metal-Rules (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain continue their evolutionary path with NÄ̈E’BLISS, taking us all on a fantastic and metallic journey that will surely help them carve their name even deeper into the metal scene worldwide.” – The Headbanging Moose (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“they come up with elements of melodeath, symphonic-, prog- and powermetal, melted together by the expressive vocal performance of singer Evgeniy Zayarny, who convinces with his full tone and an impressive range… “Näe’bliss” is well written, varied and dynamic, telling the stories about a common “good” against an “evil” antagonist in a great way.” – The Prog Space (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“What a masterpiece! In my last review, I gave my first 10/10 and called it my album of the year. That place has already been overtaken.” – Musipedia of Metal (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Canadians Red Cain took on the mammoth task of turning Robert Jordan’s works of the Wheel of Time series into an album… Needless to say the Power Prog band delivers an ambitious album filled with twists and turns that will keep you on your toes!” – Belgian Jasper (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain has made by far the best Wheel Of Time-related piece of art that I’ve seen or heard since before November 18, 2021. Sour grapes aside, this is some energetic power metal worthy of the source material.” – Metal Utopia (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“Red Cain combine with clean singing and growling vocals on opener “Fisher King.” Much of Nae Bliss has a fresh modern sound (“Blight” and the gothic “The Great Hunt”) and some modern groove (“Sightblinder”)… The modern metal here reminds me of Iced Earth and Nevermore which has some excellent clean vocals. ” – Transcending the Mundane (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“this is an album to explore if you tend to enjoy a more theatrical and bombastic variety of progressive metal.” – Progressor (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“If you’re into the symphonic side of metal, then this is a must have album.” – Smorg Magazine (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“As such Red Cain uses Näe’bliss to showcase the slickest noodling and power grooving of their career… Red Cain hasn’t yet made an album for the ages in this modern expression of classic prog/power exuberance, but each record thus far has swung for the fences and landed in good graces—stop sitting around and spin some Red Cain!” – Angry Metal Guy (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“you’ll still feel the mighty pull of Power Metal all over the record. But the progressive parts now start to encroach on soundscapes bands like Haken or Caligula’s Horse3) usually usurp. And that leaves us with an uncannily savvy power prog mix with an unholy urge for unusual extreme metal undercurrents on full display. And that led – yet again – to overheated turntables over at the RMR office tower. Red Cain are back and in full swing yet again, feisty as ever. And as well they should be. So, where’s that bookshop? Robert Jordan’s fantasy lore’s beckoning us.” – Rock Music Raider (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

“With Näe’bliss, Red Cain has created their own progressive metal epic fantasy that is fuelled with blast beats, howling guitars, wailing vocals, and rumbling bass. The intricate lyrics tell their own tales and have captured the essence of the adversaries and nemesis of the story. Perhaps for me, storyline aside, is the wonderful vocal dynamic between Evgeniy Zayarny and Kalie Yan and how they play off each other in a beautiful tit for tat of clean versus harsh and singing versus operatic as if they were the protagonist and antagonist. Let the chaos reign supreme, crank Näe’bliss to 11.” – Amplify The Noise (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)

““Fisher King,” is a monstrous opening, a song that tempts the deliverance and brings the power of brilliance and chaos of the whirlwind…. “Fires of Heaven,” is bombastic, powerful, enchanting and downright haunting. A song that smashes through everything.” – The Median Man (2023 – NÄE’BLISS)
