Canadian thrash legends Anonymus recently unleashed their 12th album “La Bestia” on June 12th via label Bam&co Heavy. Known for their discography of both French and English releases, “La Bestia” is their first full length that is completely in Spanish. You may be asking why a Spanish album? Well since 3/4 of the band speaks Spanish. Drummer Carlos Araya is Chilean born, and Oscar (Lead Vocals and Bass) and Dan Souto (Guitars and Backing Vocals) are sons of Spanish immigrants it was time to make one.

Today, the band shares their new music video recorded live in-studio for their track “Máquinas” via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.

The band reveals the story behind the track:

“This song is inspired by all the movies that we saw over the years that related to the machines that are taking over humans. We are not very far away from that, except that it’s not happening in the way that we thought. I mean who can live now without an iPhone or iPad or living without the internet and Google, YouTube, Facebook. Ok maybe it’s not like the movies in which humans were attacked by malefic robots, but it’s a different attack and we are losing the battle.”

The tracks on “La Bestia” were produced mainly by guitarist Jef Fortin as well as Colin Richardson who also produced 1999’s ‘Instinct’ and Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm) who produced 2006’s ‘Chapter Chaos Begins’. The album also features the bilingual song “Violencia Versus Violence” with the participation of Carlos Maldos of Lethal Creation (MX) and Arno Dhenain Le Bourhis of Black Bomb A (FR) along with a second bilingual track “Tierra” with Marco Calliari singing in Italian.

With over 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Anonymus is showing no signs of slowing down. Fans of thrash metal standbys such as Slayer and Testament will no doubt be intrigued by this new offering.

About:

Anonymus is a Canadian thrash metal band that explodes on stage with each presence, that pulls you in with its passion and that yells at you with corrosive and violent texts that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Since their first release in 1994, Anonymus has made its mark on the Quebec music scene. From the beginning, the group has been well received while demonstrating its brutal sound and technique that has continually evolved over the years. Oscar Souto (vocals, bass) Daniel Souto (guitar, vocals) Carlos Araya (drums), Jef Fortin (guitar since 2006) and Marco Calliari (vocals, guitar from 1994 to 2006) have since widely traveled the roads of their country, participated in the deprivation of Mononc’Serge and continue today to ignite stages everywhere they go. These veterans of the metal scene continue to proudly carry the torch after 20 years of chaos and barbaric music.

Forever hungry for metal, everyone in Anonymus brings ideas to the table. Sometimes it is a whole song or just the beginnings of one, yet together the band works to create a full thrashy anthem from the pieces, working on it until it is complete. The music always comes first, and when the ambiance is formulated, the lyrics, which come from a personal place and from current events, can be added.

Unstoppable and indestructible, inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; Anonymus is nothing short of the powerful, aggressive and technical thrash metal that they have been refining for decades exemplified on their impressive discography of both French and English releases, which includes: “Ni vu, ni connu” (1994); Stress (1996); Instinct (1999); Daemonium (2002); Academie du Massacre (2003); Chapter Chaos Begins (2006); Musique Barbare (2008); État Brute (2011); Envers et contre tous (2015); P.O.M.M.E (2017); Sacrifices (2019); and their first-ever Spanish album La Bestia (2020) due out June 12 via label Bam&co Heavy.

Today, Anonymus does not need a presentation. This institution of the Quebec metal industry has been offering for twenty-six years, a passion for dark notes and unrivaled power. The offer is still valid. With more than 1500 career shows under their belt, Anonymus is completely in their element when performing in front of fans, they offer only their absolute best ensuring the crowd is moving. Having shared the stage with metal great such as Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, and Kataklysm at festivals such as Heavy Montreal, Montebello, and through international tours, they are no strangers to a wild show.

ANONYMUS FOLLOWS ITS PATH, AGAINST ALL ODDS!

“It’s hard to find a band that comes as strong out of the gate with a debut album like WoR. It’s actually a very short list of bands that are sheer power right from the get go. The debut album from WoR, entitled Prisoners, was released earlier in August and honestly deserves as much attention as it can get.” – Metal Injection

“a highly impressive slice of groove metal that will most definitely appeal to fans of Lamb Of God, Pantera and  MachineHead. Hailing from the febrile breeding ground of North Carolina, WoR lay it down with intent on ‘Predator’, stalking the deepest reaches of your aural cortexes with the declarative lead single from their forthcoming debut album, ‘Prisoners’: on the evidence of this, they won’t be taking any when it impacts on 7 August.” – Uber Rock

“On the whole, for a debut album, this is some real good stuff that oozes polish right from the get-go and all the way to the end of it. WoR are onto something good here and they’re on my list of bands to keep an eye out for when they eventually hit Manchester, no doubt in some small sweaty venue like the Star and Garter – the best type of place to experience this sort of stuff.” – Uber Rock

“The songs pack a nasty punch, leaving your body bruised and your nose bloodied. Chuggy riffs, ferocious vocals and some nods to thrash metal propel this album to excellence.” – Abrasive Noise

“Right off the bat, this band doesn’t mess around and you know what you get from the opening aggression of “Kill You”… Demoss sounds like good mix of metalcore growls like LAMB OF GOD’s RANDY BLYTHE to even some black metal-like screams at times. Their sparing use of dual guitar leadwork – mostly for atmosphere and melody and less for flashy solos – is always welcome from the SLAYER inspired slow, creepy guitar melodies in “VI Kings” and “Caged” to the aptly sounding 80s-ish squawking of “Sirens”. For a debut, it’s really impressive and I feel genuinely bad that they aren’t able to tour and get their music out more efficiently.” – Metal Temple

“…chunky riffs always have a place if they are handled as well as WoR does it. They work their way through anthemic tunes with heavy subject matters, like “Freedom Suicide” and “Sirens,” with the latter bluntly calling out police brutality.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“Thrashy hardcore pushing into some good grooves cool stuff.” – WORT 89.9FM  – The Moshpit (Madison, WI)

“Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.” – Antichrist Magazine

“Raleigh North Carolina Groove Metal is what “Prisoners” is all about with the raw drum sound during “Kill You” adding an air of “New American Gospel” era Lamb Of God. Crews has the time keeping if the metronomic Chris Adler down to a fine art and his rapid fire, power house performance on this cut gives the Pantera groove riffs and Southern Hostility style breakdowns the underpinning that they need. “Caged” is the longest cut on the album at just over five minutes but is no less ferocious, with DeMoss being a vocal force to be reckoned with, the roars of “don’t waste my time on idol ideas” cutting even the broadest shouldered lumberjack down to size.” – Metal Noise

L-R – Phillip Funderburk – Bass, Bobby Demoss – Vocals, David Nisoff – Guitar, Dylan Jenkins – Drums, Ben Kaiser – Guitar

WoR is a groove metal quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina. Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.

WoR was founded in 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser who at the time was finishing up his college football career playing offensive line at NC State. The band was initially an escape from the rigors of the sport, and at the end of his career, he decided to give the band a legitimate go.

After cycling through a variety of members early on, WoR was joined by Bobby Demoss, the charismatic frontman who has the ability to draw in even the toughest crowd; his unique screaming style and passionate lyrics helped shape WoR’s groundbreaking identity from the get-go. In 2019, Phil Funderburk, the glue who keeps the band and the music together, joined on bass; David Nisoff, in charge of mind-blowing solos that capture everyone’s attention, joined as the second guitarist, and Hunter Crews, a consistent timekeeper and a seasoned veteran in the music business solidified the lineup as the bands’ drummer, who is now replaced by Dylan Jenkins.

By the spring of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their music at live shows throughout the southeast region of the United States and played with the likes of Upon A Burning Body, Atilla, and Warbringer just to name a few.

Working collaboratively, WoR’s music focuses on various different current events using powerful lyrics to offer a unique insight into the things going on in our lives and in the world. After working closely with producer Joe Alonzo Potts and audio engineer Shaun Singerling, they plan to release their debut album “Prisoners” on August 7th, 2020, which features brutal tracks such as ‘Caged’ and ‘Predator’ in addition to melodic anthems such as ‘VI King’s.

In 2020 and 2021, WoR has extensive tours scheduled to support the release of their debut album “Prisoners”. WoR’s live shows are extremely energetic with fan involvement being a common theme. Demoss does a phenomenal job of breaking down the fourth wall and getting the crowd involved at their shows making way for insane mosh pits. It is the band’s credo that they give it their all for whatever time they are on stage whether they are playing to 2,000 people or 200 people.

Montreal, QC – July 9, 2020

Anvil’s July 4th Quebec City Live Stream Available Online Until July 14th

Presented by District 7 Production & L’Anti Bar & Spectacles

Back in February, Canada’s Anvil released a new album “Legal At Last” celebrating the legalization of recreational cannabis use in the country. To support this album, the heavy metallers had a very thorough tour planned in the UK and Germany, with an assortment of other stops along the way. Unfortunately, like everyone else, COVID-19 stopped the tour in its tracks.

But on July 4th, the band performed the first Canadian heavy metal live stream from Quebec City, which was organized by District 7 Production and L’Anti Bar & Spectacles. With an overwhelming response to the success of Anvil’s virtual live stream concert, organizers are offering all the fans who missed it, and the fans who watched it demanding to experience the performance again an opportunity to watch the live stream performance until July 14th.

Calgary’s Red Cain Begin The End Of Their “Kindred” Saga With Single “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)”

Premiere Single via MetalInjection

New Album “Kindred: Act II” Coming Fall 2020

L-R – Tyler Corbett – Guitar, Evgeniy Zayarny – Vocals, Taylor Gibson – Drums – Photo Credit Ravenkin Photography

Red Cain‘s new single “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)” ushers in the follow-up album to 2019’s “Kindred: Act I”; entitled “Kindred: Act II”, which follows the warrior Zalcoatl and combines ancient myths and stories with a commentary on how these exist and apply in modern society. The single is complex and drives forward the tale with precision. The band explains what listeners will encounter with this single:

“We upgrade our trademark sprawling, epic, yet tightly wound style to a considerably heavier and more technical level, and add aggressive, direct vocals and a grimy Mastodon-esque occult atmosphere. This track has some of our favourite production and rhythm guitar performances (pay attention to the massive 7-string riffs!), and was a favourite to track vocals to, feeling the power at every step, complete with thunderous drum work.”

Asking questions about cults, sacrifice, and the future of the human story as well as having an underlying story within itself, “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)” is, effectively the first and last track of the “Kindred” album cycle. Featuring some of Evgeniy Zayarny’s best lyrical work to date it borrows directly from Aztec and Mesopotamian ritual writings and mythology to construct an evocative and powerful narrative of a man locked in a battle of wills with a destiny that he yearns to bend to his control.

Recommended for fans of Kamelot, Mastodon, and Amaranthe, “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)” is premiering via MetalInjection HERE.

More singles are planned to be unleashed leading up to the expected release of “Kindred: Act II” during October 2020.

“Kindred: Act I” is available on Shop Sliptrick, Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp.

#10 Red Cain !earshot – The National Loud Chart For the Week Ending: Tuesday, February 9, 2021 (Earshot)

“From the proggy goodness of album opener “Kindred”, to the blast beats of “Baltic Fleet”, to the epic closer “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire), there is something here for every fan of progressive power metal.  With this being Act II in Red Cain’s Kindred body of work, I really feel as though I entered a movie theater right in the middle of an epic saga. Each song is a journey in and of itself, but each also contributes to the overall fantastic voyage.  I will absolutely be purchasing Act I of this amazing tale and listen from start to finish, the way it was intended. Do yourself a favor and do the same!” – Metal Rules

“If you like your music melodic, mysterious, and gothic, with a progressive power metal base, then this is for you. This has been a joy to review and yet another band to add to my favoured list. ” – The Prog Space

“Zayarny is a powerhouse vocalist and the contortions he forces into Red Cain make for a very diverse record.. the talent behind the record is undeniable, and at the very least, Kindred proved far more creative and thought-provoking than most death metal records I’ve recently tackled. You should give it a shot — even if you’re not a big weenie..” – Angry Metal Guy

“Overall, ‘Kindred: Act II’ is an interesting mix of styles that combine together in technical wizardry to set the backdrop for the continued tales of the warrior Zalcoatl. There’s some unexpected musical influences that bubble to the surface, particularly the liberal use of electronic elements provides a futuristic, yet gothic, element to the tales. Vocally, there’s some clear inspiration from Kamelot going on here. They’re predominantly clean, but with a wide range between high pitched and deep passages. The guitar work is pretty varied as well and at times even hits a distinctly djent groove that seems to appear out of nowhere!… Fans of Kamelot and Mastodon alike will find some common ground with ‘Kindred: Act II’ (and Act I for that matter).” – Uber Rock

“These seasoned metal performers brought me to school with a clear cut album, delivered beautifully across seven tracks. The epic highs and lows of the album leave me wanting more… My hat is off to RED CAIN!” – Metal Temple

“With a flurry of progressive guitars, grandiose vocals and intriguingly wild effects, Red Cain burn brightly from the very start with the opening track, Kindred.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Songs alternate between melodic and more progressive portions in fine fashion. There is also a heroic aspect to the band that assures that they have some variety and also ties them to power metal. The entire affair is uplifting and does a good job getting the listener entranced in the music… a fun album and a very nice way to start the year off. It will also appeal to fans of bands from a number of different sub-genres.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“the crew here found yet another gem from Red Cain, one filled with cosmic terrors this time. Kindred: Act II provides us with an additional slice of that delicious metal geekery that this band is capable of. A record that makes complexity sound easy, even casual. And that’s a feat not many bands master these days anymore.” – Rock Music Raider

“RED CAIN keep us on our toes right down to the final track Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire). There is a mixture of all sorts going on but again, it flows together seamlessly. It’s complex yet memorable. I knew logically this was the last track of the album but I feel this story is not over yet. Will there be Act III to follow in the next year or so? Who knows, I personally hope there is. Kindred:  Act II was a great introduction to RED CAIN and their sound. From listening to this, it’s easy to see why they have been nominated for awards. I look forward to see how their sound grows and develops from now.” – Rock Out Stand Out

“One of the best aspects, despite the fact that this is prog, is that the music is very easy to get into and enjoy. It is often midtempo, headbobbing music as a general style, and that makes things exceedingly easy for fans in general that prefer normal, song-friendly speeds…  the real big reason to listen is the melodic singing. It makes this listener really curious to find out if the singing can be this good in the live concert. Is this voice for real?! It sounds so good, and strong, and also melodic. It is the thing that takes the band over the top in terms of music and of catching the interest of potential fans. There is an elegance and style to the singing that makes the songwriting attractive and pulls you in to check out more of the music.” – Metal Bulletin Zine

“Kindred: Act II is a solid offering. It straddles a number of different styles and influences without committing 100% to any of them… any metalhead with a taste for the dramatic should find something rewarding in here.” – The Independent Voice

“I think Red Cain took the right chances and put forward an interesting release that will challenge the listeners to catch everything they’ve put into making this album. It’s definitely not a one listen and you’ve got it album. It is a listen multiple times to catch what you missed each time before type of album. Give this one a chance and see if you don’t love it yourself.” – Yesterdaze News

“an atmosphere between anger and melancholy are exactly what the band is all about. “KINDRED: ACT II” is definitely a really strong album and one only regrets that it ends so early. But as the saying goes : Quality is more important than quantity!” – Metal-Heads.de

“This new album is opened by KINDRED, a brilliant tune with different influences, from power/prog to electro-rock. It’s enriched by an interesting solo, a well-groomed production and cinematic mood.” – HardRockHeavyMetal

“a strong progressive mix and very melodic power metal, they are a band of experienced musicians who give us a well-defined, real album with these seven tracks, for lovers of this genre it will be more than good and unique.” – Darkzen Dragon Metal Angels

“The album kicks off with a couple of brilliantly technical and melodic tracks – ‘Kindred’, is heavy and showcases the skillset these guys have at their disposal in true Progressive style. ‘Demons’ is a much more catchy hook-based track, although no less technically capable, but with catchy riffs, melodies and enough commercial bent to pull in a new listener – whilst still playing to that vocal ambidextrousness with a couple of lines that wouldn’t sound amiss on a Marilyn Manson album. And then the album switches style and becomes haunting, moody and totally surprising with the falsetto introduction to ‘Precipice Of Man’, which fools you into thinking it’s a power ballad before belting you around the head with one of the heaviest bass sounds I have heard in a while and a much more extreme vocal sound. These kind of body swerves just keep coming, and are what makes this album such a refreshing change.” – Ever Metal

“Concluding this album is the pure Power Metal entity known as ‘Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)’. This proves to be an enjoyable ad worthy finale for what has been a brilliant album. ‘Kindred: Act II’ doesn’t include a single bad song and advertises the talent of Red Cain excellently.” – AC Rock Reviews

======

“What we have here is a two headed beast of sad and melancholy music on one side and angry and raging music on the other. The two combine somewhere in the middle with flair for the dramatic and impassioned vocals. This is definitely worth your time if you are looking for something off the beaten path.” – Metal Temple (Kindred Act I Review)

“Red Cain’s first full-length act is a more than solid release that I can warmly recommend if you enjoy the likes of Kamelot, TesseracT and Blind Guardian or just enjoy some good old thinking man’s metal music in general. With a charismatic frontman, well thought out and varied songwriting and a healthy dose of power and energy, Red Cain is a up and coming Canadian act that I’ll sure be keeping my eye on!” – Belgian Metal Shredder (Kindred Act I Review)

“Kindred: Act I is all about raw and unbridled metal power. A thoughtful brand of metal that – for once – does not base itself on mindless growling about the stage along normal lines of metal conduct. Instead they rip the established status quo to pieces and attack with a very unusual metal dish. One that comes with a distinct groove to boot… a very tasty fusion of Progressive and Power Metal that we have rarely seen to date. A metal dish best consumed red-hot. Have some, you will not regret it.” – Rock Music Raider (Kindred Act I Review)

“Symphonic progressive metal with alternative and gothic nuances – Red Cain are well on their way to establishing new territory in story telling and musical match-ups. Kindred: Act Irepresents a fine opening album for these Canadians, and should lend itself well to various multi-media opportunities for live show and film options. The best records connect on a mind, body, and spirit level – and this will be one that should be in the conversation for visionary, forward-thinking effort, proving the ink is not dry on what metal can bring to the table for innovation.” – Dead Rhetoric (Kindred Act I Review)

“I couldn’t be more impressed with this band and album from the opening track “Snake Bouquet” to the last track “Wing Of The Crow” which is an awesome closing track with guest vocals from Kobra Paige of Kobra and The Lotus. This album takes you on an epic and melodic journey, I feel fans of bands from Avatar to Kamelot to Marilyn Manson and anything in between will really love this album.” – Crannk (Kindred Act I Review)

“Red Cain have produced a very awesome album. It sounds and looks very professional, has great riffs and epic melodies. Keep an eye on these guys, they will come very far.” – Lyrical Spell Magazine (Kindred Act I Review)

Described as a vehicle of “Melancholy and Rage” and born out of the emerging music scene of Alberta, Canada, 2017 YYC Awards Metal Recording of the Year winner Red Cain is a power/progressive metal project with Russian roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and elements of Slavic myth and Russian paganism in the storytelling tradition of the cult of Veles, Red Cain champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience.

Stated by frontman Evgeniy Zayarny as wanting to bring back the “Devil’s music” mysticism all too often missing in modern metal acts, Red Cain delivers flair, groove, and an intricate, lethal edge in their music. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Amaranthe, Alter Bridge – whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of the band is all of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy, shaken and stirred.

Red Cain released its debut self-titled EP in November 2016 to rave reviews from a variety of publications such as Dead Rhetoric, MetalUnderground, and Fireworks magazine, among many others. Red Cain’s EP had the honour of winning Metal Recording of the Year at the 2017 YYC Music Awards. The band has a strong emerging fanbase around the world, being named one of the top 200 bands of 2016 by Headbangers Latinoamerica and the EP’s cover art selected as one of 2016’s 15 best by Metal Underground.

Red Cain’s first full-length album “Kindred: Act I” was released in March 2019 to a variety of excellent reviews internationally, reaching #1 on Canadian College Radio Earshot Loud charts and establishing the band as a force in the Canadian metal scene, and landing the band a distribution deal with European label Sliptrick Records. A variety of festival appearances at Loud As Hell Metal Festival, Hyperspace Metal Festival, and Canada Wacken Competition have served to cement that status. Red Cain’s music videos for “Juliet” and “Zero” have to date garnered 11 international film festival awards, including the Music Video Award at the Accolade Global Film Competition (LA) along with “Juliet” nominated for 2020 YYCMA Metal Recording of The Year.

During the last six months of 2020, the band has previewed epic storied singles “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)”, “Demons”, “Kindred”, and “Varyag and The Shrike” to fans from their forthcoming 2021 sophomore album “Kindred: Act II”.

“Kindred: Act II” is seven evocative and powerful narrative tracks that continue the saga from “Kindred: Act I”, following the warrior Zalcoatl along with combining other ancient myths and stories with a commentary on how these exist and apply in modern society.   This album hits hard and heavy in the best prog power goth rock fashion, layering brazen up-front guitar riffs with a groovy electronic backing and pulsing basslines.

Recommended for fans of Kamelot, Mastodon, and Amaranthe, “Kindred: Act II” is due out on January 22nd digitally as a self-release by the band with signing with Sliptrick Records for its physical CD release at later date in the year.

WINTER NIGHTS Continue To Cool Summer With New Single “Unmarked Grave” Off New Self-Titled Album

Premiere “Unmarked Grave” via NoCleanSinging

New Self-Titled Album Out July 31, 2020

Efrain Farfan – Back up Vocals and Guitar, Jeremy Farfan – Vocals and Guitar

Winter Nights’ new track “Unmarked Grave” comes after the first single “When December Burns” and it is equally as cold and unrelenting as the first.

The album was recorded between 2015 and 2018 at Atomic Sound in Brooklyn, New York and the amount of time that has been spent in its production really shows with the combination of dark, foreboding lyrics and melodic interludes breaking up pounding riffs. Winter Nights explains the album in their own words, painting a grim picture:

“If you took a deep breath right before free-falling off a cliff in the pouring rain with a glimmer of sunshine trying to come through dark clouds only to fall into a dark hole and wake up crawling all fours on cold soil with snow falling in a dark moonlight forest.”

The lyrics of “Unmarked Grave” reflect on the lingering emotions after everything has died around you, and realizing the world has nothing left to offer. All that is asked is to be buried in an unmarked grave.

This new album is clearly progress for Winter Nights, showing maturity and it’s easy to hear the difference between it and its predecessor. Heavy metal with a smile, Winter Nights has even more music in the works ready for when the world resumes some semblance of normality.

For fans of Belphagor, Amon Amarth, and Dark Tranquility, “Unmarked Grave” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The self-titled album debuts on July 31, 2020 and is available for pre-order here.

About:
Winter Nights is a four-piece melodic death metal band emanating from Brooklyn, New York in the winter of 2007. The sound and lyrical themes of their music portray loss, pain, grievance, and darkness.

Guitar driven melodies evoke visceral reactions to the mythic end of the world. They are an integral part of the thriving New York metal scene. As of 2020, their formation consists of dueling guitar brothers Jeremy and Efrain Farfan who also cover vocals, bassist Martin Tune and drummer James Yarusinsky.

The two Farfan brothers came up with the idea for the band after a New Years’ toast and after recruiting a friend they started writing music together and the rest is history. Trading endless amounts of riffs the Farfan brothers devise the majority of the music before presenting it to the rest of the band to be beefed out in the rehearsal studio.

Mainly inspired by nature, places of travel. different scenery. Jeremy gets his ideas from places he’s traveled such as the cliffs of northern Ireland, catacombs of Montreal, nighttime canals of Venice, and the eerie silence of Central Park at night.

Playing with similar bands such as Kalmah, Belphegor, and Insomnium, and on festivals including Maryland Folkfest and Poconos Folkfest, Winter Nights is a mainstay in the New York metal underground. With personal influences rooted primarily in metal, the members of Winter Nights make provocative, despairing, genuine songs. In 2008 they released a self-titled demo EP, followed by another EP “From Darkness Till Dawn” in 2011, and a full length “An Endless Apocalypse” in 2014. 2020 brings a new self-titled album due out July 31st.

– 30 –

“‘Encounters of the Frozen North’ has a lot of thundering, jolting power along with some killer riffs and a dark, somewhat Eastern-influenced melody that worms its way into your head. The music is capped by jagged, tyrannical vocals that make a powerful impact and by a serpentine solo that underscores the reptilian menace lurking within the song.” – No Clean Singing

“The floor of the venue was already seething with eager humanity as local opening act Winter Nights took the stage to kick things off. Sometimes the warm-up acts accomplish little more than to give fans a chance to hit the merch stands or catch up with friends, but the creative vision of Jeremy and Efrain Farfan demanded attention with their tight, more brutal take on Melodic Death Metal. Harsh vocals combined with technical playing and some ultra-melodic guitar leads kept fans engaged and cheering after each song. Winter Nights has been around since 2007, having recently released full-length album An Endless Apocalypse in July of last year. Something like Grave and Amon Amarth meets mid ’90’s Carcass with some mosh-inducing breakdowns defines their sound, with the highlight of the set being the killer “Doomsday Code” and “Deceptive Dreams.”” – Cryptic Rock (Live Review 2015 opening for Dark Tranquility)

“With a distinct Scandinavian flair, but coupled with a bit of the ole US brutality, theirs is a nice melding of catchy older melodic death metal here (read: no watered down pop choruses or the like). “The Doomsday Code” is the cut of choice, with it’s all out thrashy approach that is sure to get the adrenaline pumping and features a solid solo towards the end and even touches upon some black metal influences as well. There’s plenty here that should appeal to fans of anything from Amon Amarth, Arsis, or Dark Tranquillity” – Dead Rhetoric (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“a strong debut. The album highlights the bands strong points and shows they can be both intense, brutal and then melodic at just the right moments. It will be interesting to see how they evolve in the coming year. Be sure to listen to their previous demo releases and support them at a venue near you.” – Artemortifica (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“The diversified riffs are once more the proof for the skills of WINTER NIGHTS. Very professional and dedicated recording. I can only recommend “An Endless Apocalypse“ to each Metalhead!” – Battlepig (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“This band may hail from the streets of NYC, but after listening to this album I’m convinced Winter Nights sailed here from Scandinavia in a giant ship to claim New York as their raiding territory!” – Up From The Underground Reviews (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

Set to unleash their new album “Ascend To The Throne” on Friday, July 10th via Head Rattle Productions INC., Vancouver’s Saints of Death are sharing with fans its full stream ahead of its official release.

For fans of Pantera, DevilDriver, and Arch Enemy, Saints of Death’s “Ascend To The Throne” is the double bass attack you need to listen to now via its premiere today on MetalInsider.net HERE.

“Ascend To The Throne” is a 7 track ripping and cohesive album and the second in the Saints of Death repertoire following the 2015 self-titled EP. With a different lineup than the debut effort, Saints of Death now boasts a more robust group that is tighter, more aggressive, and more melodic than ever before along with still featuring their signature sound of having two bassists.

The band comments:

“This album has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait to get it into the ears of our fans. After dealing with line up issues for a few years, we finally have a solid line up and are back to kicking ass. The current line up has been together since 2018 and we have really gelled as friends and as band members. Naturally, with this kind of chemistry going on, it was finally time to record a new album.

Like the first EP, there is diversity between each song, allowing each of them to stand out as hard-hitting singles. There is also the consistency that allows the songs to come together as a great album. We talk about important topics such as the trials of society, corruption and corporate greed, mental health as well as a few other topics on this album. Saints put a lot of hard work and passion crafting this album and making it what it is and we cannot wait to show the world!”

Loud and crushing, Saints of Death has been evolving over the years and they are looking forward to what the future has in store for them. Comprising tracks that the band has wanted to release for a long time, it has been a waiting game until the right guys were in line to bring them to fruition. Now, the wait is now over and Saints of Death is primed to kick some ass!

Colorado’s Buried Realm Premieres Lyric Video ‘Overlord’ via InvisibleOranges

‘Overlord’ ft. guest Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est)

Sophomore Album “Embodiment of The Divine” Out July  24th

guests Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Benjamin Ellis (Scar Symmetry), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind),
Dean Arnold (Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork),
Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura), Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses)

Buried Realm is a solo studio project, hatched from the mind of Josh Dummer. It is the second album he has put out under that moniker and once again he has written an epic, creative record filled not only with his own talent but also with that of a smorgasbord of special guests from around the world. Dummer comments on the album:

“After nearly three years of creating ‘Embodiment of the Divine,’ I am very pleased to present and share this album with everyone. I’m honored to be joined by a number of guests that have influenced my writing and playing over the years. Their contributions have truly helped bring the album to another level. ‘Embodiment of the Divine’ features guest performances from Andy Gillion, Benjamin Ellis, Bob Katsionis, Dean Arnold, Lee McKinney, Peter Wichers, Rafael Trujillo, and Ryan Strain. Listeners can expect to hear a whole lot of riffs, solos, and melody. The album has its traditional arrangements at times but is also built on technical and chaotic grounds. I think the overall atmosphere of this album is darker compared to the previous one.”

The third single off the album ‘Overlord’  features guest Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est) and today is being premiered via InvisibleOranges HERE.

Dummer adds:

“This song caries tons of leads and some of the more challenging guitar parts on the album. A message about looking forward, shedding skin, but being haunted by “dead skin” so to speak.”

Recommended for fans of Soilwork, Nevermore, and Children of Bodom, Buried Realm is progressive melodic death metal. “Embodiment of the Divine” is out on July 24, 2020.

About:

A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Following up on his long time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’ The studio project represents a hidden dimension within himself where the ‘buried disputes’ of his life are confronted only through music; where he can express musical ideas without compromising.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is 2020’s “Embodiment of the Divine” due out July 24th and while it is parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it is a forward step in a sojourn that will be continuing.

– 30 –

“Buried Realm sound a whole lot like what you’d expect given the bands whose guest musicians Dummer tapped for the project: aggressive, catchy, Sweden-inspired melodic death metal. If you like all the bands name-checked above, you’re sure to like this one. It’s incredibly well-done and expertly crafted.” – MetalSucks (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“On this album he proves himself to be some kind of instrumental wizard, and a vocal chameleon as well. But he has also surrounded himself with an array of guests that shines like a metal constellation in the night sky.” – No Clean Singing (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“Given that The Ichor Carcinoma has so many guests, it stands to reason that it has a diverse sound, ranging from hyper-speed solos, breakdowns, a mixture of screams and clean singing and more, but at the end of the day, it can be classified as an impressive melodic death metal debut.” – Decibel Magazine (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“From the very beginning of this track (Apeiron II: Global Dreamer), the riffing is here to cut your limbs ready to cook a nice melodic stew. Are you with me? Shades of Scar Symmetry, At the Gates, Hypocrisy, early Nightrage, late Soilwork and a fine slice of that machine gun style technical death metal drumming are found here. A delicious plate that I know will please a good bunch of my fellow seekers of melodic metal.” – Toilet  Ov Hell (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

”Buried Realm’s debut album The Ichor Carcinoma, which sees the next chapter in the soul key band member Josh Dummer’s, emotionally charged dark twisted vision come to life in the form of a hard hitting, electrifyingly intense experience for fans of Heavy Metal to experience and enjoy.” – Noizze UK (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“There’s plenty of ear-candy to be found on The Ichor Carcinoma – be it in the form of aggressive melodeath riffing, soaring leads, or sheer vocal variety. While it doesn’t stray far outside of the genre realms, there’s only a handful of releases that one can think of in recent memory that execute it with this much passion and finesse. With its time of release, one hopes that the album doesn’t become lost in the mix of fall juggernauts. This is too strong to be overlooked.” – Dead Rhetoric (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“There is more than enough content to shred your ears within The Ichor Carcinoma and more than enough to keep you listening over and over again, and that is just what this release does.” – Cadaver Garden (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

On Friday, July 10th, cinematic rock metallers Alizarin will be releasing their sophomore album “The Last Semblance”. Unlike their strictly instrumental debut record “Cast Zenith” (2018), this next release features prominent vocals throughout from guitarist Josh Kay. Rich harmonies and baritone resonance from Kay’s voice add a new dimension to the music, allowing the band’s sound to expand to truly uncharted territory.

The album covers a wide spectrum of sonic landscapes and emphasizes the melodic journey over deliberate technique. Although vocalist and guitarist Joshua Kay is the chief songwriter of Alizarin, the compositions on the new record focus on a balance from each instrument, with less of an emphasis on the domination of guitar solos and a greater exploration of what each musician is capable of. Drawing influence from such groups as Porcupine Tree, Haken, Alice in Chains, Opeth, Portishead, and many more, the result of Alizarin‘s sound is one that is challenging to define, pensive, and often at the crossroads of melody and dissonance.

Today, before the album’s official release, the band has teamed up with SonicPerspectives for the full stream premiere of “The Last Semblance” HERE.

Kay adds:

“We are extremely excited and proud to present our new album ‘The Last Semblance’, a record that defies the expectations of modern progressive music and offers something for every listener. This music takes our brand of cinematic metal we began on our debut record and expands upon it in every single way. Rich and dramatic compositions, unorthodox chord progressions, lush vocals and harmonies, and compelling melodies abound on our new album. We wanted to stand out from our peers and offer something that will be immediately memorable and captivating, yet will continue to reveal new layers of depth upon every listen.”

“The Last Semblance” will be available on Bandcamp (CD and Digital), Spotify, and Apple Music.

Born out of the forward-thinking inclinations of guitarist/vocalist Josh Kay in late 2017, Alizarin is on a mission to explore unconventional rock music. In addition to Kay, the Los Angeles based group consists of Jon Damon on drums, Terran Fernandez on bass guitar and Avelino Ramirez on keyboard.
