“Escape” With Proggers LUFEH’s New Music Video

New Album “Luggage Falling Down” Out Now!

Gera Penna– Keys, Duca Tambasco – Bass, Dennis Atlas – Vocals, Teo Dornellas – Guitar, Lufeh Batera – Drums

Los Angeles based progressive metallers Lufeh (a band of both Brazilian and American musicians) creates an enjoyable experience, meandering through jazz styles, heavy metal foundations, and rhythmic Brazilian influences. The mind expanded sonic journey is something new and interesting to listen to on the band’s debut album “Luggage Falling Down” released this past April. The album was a trying, yet successful first recording for these recently banded musicians who lived together for two weeks throughout the process. Having lost the original singer a month before recording began, the intrepid bunch found hope with Dennis Atlas who fell in step with the rest of the band immediately. This bond between the members can be seen in their series of videos that the band has been releasing in support of the full length.

Today, Lufeh shares their next video that showcases their high energy and knack for performing with the track “Escape”, which can be seen on YouTube HERE.

The band explains the song:

“Escape deals with the faith it takes to move out of a stagnant or unhealthy situation while still holding true to the values you identify with. In true ‘Luggage Falling Down’ fashion, this heavy subject is faced fearlessly and authentically with a groovy, upbeat charisma.”

For fans of Dream Theater, Incubus, and Haken, Lufeh is smooth and rhythmic progressive metal; heavy chords followed by light melodies and the occasional crazy guitar solo. Their debut full length “Luggage Falling Down” is available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

EPKAbout:
Lufeh is a musical collaboration of excellent Brazilian and American musicians brought together by drummer Batera Lufeh. Lufeh himself has had a successful career performing with many famous Brazilian bands and artists, including one of the most well known Christian rock bands of its style, Oficina G3, among others. In 2008, he recorded his first solo album “Drummed On Classics”, which uniquely combined a mix of classical pieces with progressive rock drumming.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2014, Lufeh has continued his career as a musician, starting in Florida, where he performed with Kristo Reggae and Big Pine Band. Lufeh participated in the Blue Man Group Drum-Off in 2016, where he was awarded the privilege to take part in its grand finale in Las Vegas, and chosen as one of the top five drummers in the contest. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he became the official drummer of Kenny Shipman.

Now, in 2020, Lufeh is an entire unit moving forward with the addition of Gera Penna (keyboard); Duca Tambasco (bass); Dennis Atlas (vocals);  and Teo Dornellas (guitar) who have proven to be a great match. The band recently released the highly-anticipated second album “Luggage Falling Down”, a solid record of Brazilian influenced groovy progressive metal, which has received great praise from reviewers, calling it a mix between Brazilian music, Rush, and Dream Theater.

The album is both melodic and highly energetic and aggressive. With a strong foundation in jazz and classical musicality, the band brings a metal edge to a unique melodic story. These progressive metal warriors have become tycoons of song structure and, throughout the album, display highly refined expertise in making music that is captivating to listen to, addictively technical, and uplifting.

“Luggage Falling Down” was released on April 17, 2020 and is available on all major digital platforms.

“The band plays a sound of metal sounds extremely modern and melodic, coming across as a mix of Scar Symmetry and Fear Factory, with sprinkles of djent for added flair.” – New Noise Magazine

“Should the band be able to hold this standard on their first full-length album, one has to count on Every Hour Kills in the first league of Modern Metal. CrypticRock gives Every Hour Kills 4.5 out of 5 stars.”

“The song has an amazing feel to it that is uplifting and empowering at the same time and it makes you feel like could run a marathon and finish first place. “ – Headbanger Review

“Setting aside my bias for death and thrash metal, they mix melodic metal and electronic programming into something I found enjoyable and much different from what I spin on a daily basis.” – A Metal State of Mind

“On a final note I have to say that Every Hour Kills created nothing short of a mini-epic, and my only complaint is that I am left wanting a full sized album with more tracks than this one offered.” – Vents Magazine

“The music can be described as a powerful mix of the melodic power of (the early) Disturbed, the heaviness of Fear Factory and the musical craftsmanship of progressive acts like Dream Theater (in their ’old days’).” – Peek-a-boo Magazine

“Overall – This is an interesting blend of modern electronica and driving metal.  I can see them going far.” – SMN News

EP’s Story Concept

In the 22nd century, humankind was crippled by a relentless plague with no known cure. Deteriorating further with each passing day, a once prosperous species began to slowly fade away into nothingness, unable to slow the tightening grip of mother nature. It wasn’t until the year 2136 that a way out of the hell we inhabited presented itself.

A solar eclipse, unlike anything our kind had ever seen, brought with it the solution to all of our problems. For the first time in human history, an ancient race of interstellar beings, the Illusorians, descended from the skies and offered us a means to end the suffering of humanity. Their proposition was simple: in exchange for children who had not yet been consumed by the plague, they would give us medicine to heal the sick. We learned that Illusorians were unable to reproduce without host lifeforms. By offering up our young so that they may use them to replenish their numbers, the human race would be slowly healed over time.

That day fractured the human race. Those who believed we had no alternative formed The Vessel of Light, living in worship and praise of the Illusorians. Those who preferred to wait out their days became a group of neutral Secularists. Lastly, a group of Insurgents took it upon themselves to wage war against the Illusorians, convinced their offer was nothing more than child slavery.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 17, 2020

For fans Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Velvet Revolver

Rockshots Records: Out Now! Calgary’s In/Vertigo New EP “Sex, Love & Chaos”

New Music Video ‘Take It”

Out Now! as of July 17th, Rockshots Records presents Calgary hard rockers In/Vertigo’s debut EP “Sex, Love and Chaos”. The four-song record portrays In/Vertigo‘s intensity, drive, and relentless ear drilling musical expressions. It’s a result of their sound, says the band, “Sexy, Passionate and Chaotic. All the songs represent these three things in one or more ways. We want to get their hearts pumping, and veins throbbing. We want to be the soundtrack to your sex life, social life, your highs, your lows, and your deepest introspective moments.”

In celebration of the EP’s release, the band is sharing their new music video for the track “Take It” HERE.

The band explains the track:

“This was one of the first songs we wrote as a band, it has stood the test of time because it best represented early on where we were going musically. We have recorded 3-4 versions of this track leading us to this final version. The song deals with confidence in leaving a shitty situation and moving on with one’s self. “

Formed in 2016, the quartet delivers relentless, memorable performances at the jet engine decibels of a Boeing 747. Consisting of vocalist Reed Alton, guitarist Shaddy Elsaghir, bassist Duncan McCartney, and drummer Keaton Byfield, the band has already made a mark for itself touring and constantly gigging around Western Canada. Performing high profile gigs with international acts such as Diamond Head, Age Of Electric, Pop Evil, The Wild!, The Lazy’s has proven the band as young pros, still hungry for bigger stages and even bigger crowds.

Their self-titled demo, recorded under Ronnie Champagne (Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction, Social Distortion) had a limited run of 500 and subsequently sold out. Their four-song debut EP promises to be a rude awakening in the current hard rock drought.

In/Vertigo is the quintessential rock n’ roll act, who comes in with a sonic molotov cocktail of sound, aimed at the music world who unapologetically thirsts for classic/hard rock.

“Sex, Love and Chaos” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other major digital platforms HERE.

About:

In/Vertigo was founded in the spring of 2016 by local Calgary rock veterans Shaddy Elsaghir and Duncan McCartney who had got in contact with local vocalist Reed Alton. After jamming with a few drummers they found their fourth quarter in Keaton ‘Keystone’ Byfield through a reliable recommendation. The quartet immediately found chemistry through both musical and personal commonly related beliefs and goals. Thus creating a tubules force that would wreak havoc throughout Western Canada for the next few years.

Through hard work, relentless ethic, and determination, I/V was able to cement themselves as rock and roll staples within their hometown of Calgary and the rest of the western Canadian provinces. They soon started to open up for bigger named acts such as Diamond Head, Pop Evil, The Wild!, The Lazy’s to name a few, and gaining even more attention and accolades.

Around the rise and constant momentum that the band had been accumulating in 2017, the group recorded a 4 song demo with Ronnie S Champagne (of Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction fame) that sold out a limited print both locally and regionally within the year. By 2018 they recorded a cut of what will be their debut EP: Sex Love & Chaos. This was again a limited print that sold out both within their own homegrown territory and abroad. Backed by a self-financed music video for their song Bad Enemy the band was able to constantly tour and gig nonstop over the next 2 years reaching upwards of 350 shows.

After the success locally and online of Bad Enemy (which had been streamed over 200,000 times on Spotify alone), In/Vertigo was reached out and acquired to perform at the 4th of July festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida in 2019. This marked the first international gig for the Canadian hard rockers, who did not disappoint, performing in front of 3 thousand to a great reception and success.

Due to the snowball effect that had been a product of the band’s efforts, In/Vertigo was signed to Italian heavy metal and hard rock label Rockshot Records. This, along with the momentum that the band has continuously upheld, paves way for the answer in the global market of Hard Rock and Rockn’ Roll: In/Vertigo.

Now currently completing their revamped and polished debut EP Sex Love & Chaos, In/Vertigo along with their label and ever-growing team, set out to launch the next great chapter in rock history. Make way for most up and coming quintessential Rock n Roll act of this generation. They are hungry and armed with a sonic Molotov cocktail of sound, aimed at the music world who unapologetically thirsts for classic/hard rock.

Oozing with rock n roll vibes, Junkowl is coming for ya out of Montreal, QC, Canada. The 2019 “En Route To Heavy Montreal Champions” are a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, who recently released their debut album “Making Out With My Death” this past June.

As a whole, Junkowl‘s debut album“Making Out With My Death” is a slow dark ride. Heavy riffs; big dirty bass lines, in your face drums and gut-wrenching screams telling tales of self-loathing, confusion, and intoxication. This is a solid album, something to enjoy with a few beers, smoke a joint, and bang your head off for 30 minutes.

And speaking of in your face drums, today, Junkowl‘s drummer Dominic Labrie is sharing with fans his playthrough video for the track “Snakecharmer”. The track itself is about thinking you’re possessed by demons and trying to kill them, only to realize that the demons were actually just your own evil manifesting in your head.

Labrie adds:

“It was hard for me to pick a song to play off our album because I like them all. I picked “Snakecharmer” because it has a solid intro, a good flow and I really enjoy playing the heavy outro.”

Watch the drum playthrough via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

About:

Heavy, sexy, and southern. Those are the best words to describe Montreal’s Junkowl.

Formed in 2017, their unique blend of groove metal, stoner, and hardcore is matched with high energy ‘in your face’ performances. A year earlier Jesse Frechette (vocals) met Dom Labrie (drums) and after a few jams they picked up Marco Larosa (guitar) and Samuel Matte (bass) and the rest is history. The writing process is a collaborative one, with melodies and vocals usually forming on the spot.

Moving through the underground music scene, Junkowl quickly made a name for themselves when they won the 2019 ‘En Route Vers Heavy Montreal’; a competition between nearly 200 bands, landing them a spot at that year’s edition of renowned metal festival Heavy Montreal.

On June 5th, 2020, they will release their debut album, “Making Out With My Death”, a 10 track record full of sultry and powerful songs about past regrets and self-destructive behaviour. It includes the band’s favourite “10,000 Vultures”, the first song Junkowl ever wrote, which was completed after the first jam together. Almost all the lyrics were freestyle during that jam.

With no sign of slowing down, Junkowl has more tunes in the works and pouring passion into their live performances and newly recorded tunes. Stay tuned for party animal blues; fat spliffs and heavy riffs.

“2019 Winners of En Route to Heavy Montreal”

“The dirty, fat Stoner Sludge Metal riff of “Snakecharmer” is one designed to be accompanied by a beer and the gut-wrenching roar of “blow your brains out, blow my brains out” that brings it to it to its unnatural conclusion will no doubt be chanted by audiences across all lands as the band hit the road.” – Metal Noise

“Montreal hardcore rock n rollers Junkowl have released their new single ‘Quarantine Us All’, a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groove metal. It’s ferocious and relentless from the offset, even when it veers out of hardcore territory and into the sludgier moments. It even has some technical moments, although they certainly borrow heavily from their influences (namely Every Time I Die and Cancer Bats) it is a banger in it’s own right, and given some time to breathe and develop I think this band could bring something monumental to the table.” – Backseat Mafia

““Quarantine Us All” – Montreal’s southern rock infused metallers JUNKOWL drop new venomous track” – Idioteq

“the group combines very heavy stoner riffs with the energy of punk rock and hardcore. A group to discover absolutely.” – Mad Breizh

“this Montreal band is a whole other thing. Junkowl deals in a slick combination of stoner riffs, hardcore energy, and groovy bass, which has been called ‘party animal blues’. Which makes their debut album “Making Out With My Death” coming June 5, such a curveball.” – Cashbox Canada

“they’ve made a name for themselves in the ol’ Heavy Metal City™ with their energetic performances. And you know they have what it takes, since they won this year’s En Route Vers Heavy and literally earned their spot to perform. So technically speaking, this is gonna be an award-winning performance!” – Forget The Box (Heavy Montreal 2019 preview)

“I had the pleasure of being a judge at En Route Vers Heavy and these guys were my number one choice. I am so happy they won and got to follow their dream. They fucking destroyed.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

Saudia Arabian noise rock/metal duo Deathnoisefrequency has been relatively silent over the past few years, but for 2020, they have changed all of that by ushering an onslaught of noise on their debut EP “Horrid Dirge”.

The two-track EP is just the beginning of what the band has planned for listeners. “Horrid Dirge” is two chapters of a conceptual story, which the duo plan to release in full by the end of this year. The duo comments:

“We think it will be received very positively! In our opinion, we are bringing something different and new to the table. It is not what you hear every day, it’s a mix of things that every dark music listener would love to hear!”

About:

Saudi Arabia’s Deathnoisefrequency started in 2016, comprised of two members, Ghassan Al Fudail- All (guitars, feedbacks, reverbs, echoes) and Ahmed Mahmoud (vocals and lyrics) who are presently also working together in a band called Grieving Age, one of the premier metal bands in the country. With the intention of stepping away from the doom/death they have become familiar with, the duo has taken the leap into complete noise and beautiful chaos.

And then there was NOISE! Deathnoisefrequency was born; something that goes too far, something without boundaries, something that can’t be judged. A limitless musical experiment with an all-encompassing creepy, dark and depressive atmosphere where noise and death metal are smashed together with reckless abandon.

During the year of conception, they released a single and descended into relative silence. Through that lull, they recorded new songs, two of which will see the light of day on the debut EP: Horrid Dirge, to be released July 17, 2020. This EP is but a part of an upcoming LP destined for ears by the end of 2020.

“The “music” falls, more or less, in the category of doom, a psychedelic-shamanic type of ambient, droning trippy doom… The vocals sound like a monk chanting blessings or esoteric spiritual jiveturkeyspeak. It’s remarkably relaxing.” – Metal Bulletin

The EP follows 2017’s “Just The Hits: 1981-1985”, which transformed timeless hits such as “Sunglasses At Night” by Corey Hart and “Something About You” by Level 42 into party rock anthems along with their 2014 debut album “Frankie Goes To Hamilton” that delivered a rollicking cover arrangement of classic love songs.

“At The Movies” is now available on Bandcamp plus Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and all other digital platforms HERE.

Vocalist/guitarist Trevor Ziebarth comments:

“I wanted to pay homage to the most nostalgic 80’s movies from my youth to bring some happiness back to 2020! These movies were iconic and the singles are larger-than-life! I always wondered how they would sound all Heavy’d up!”

Moonlight Desires
might only play 80s cover songs, but you’d be wrong to dismiss them as just another cover band. Formed by long-time Hamilton, ON musician Trevor Ziebarth (Actor/Writer/Composer on Teletoon’s adult comedy series Sons of Butcher), Moonlight Desires is his ode to the raunchy romances and youthful misadventures of summer’s past. By re-working synth-laden pop hits of the 1980s, Ziebarth manages to turn familiar guilty pleasures into modern, guitar-driven rock anthems.

“For those unfamiliar, I created a television show with my brother Jay Ziebarth back in 2005 called ‘Sons of Butcher’. It was a unique adult comedy cartoon series that aired on Teletoon and was sold to over 200 countries around the world. The show was the first to blend video heads into a cartoon world. The Sons of Butcher characters worked in a butcher shop by day and were a spandex-clad rock outfit by night, with my character (Ricky Butcher) relentlessly trying to make it as a big rock star. As a companion to the show, Sons of Butcher recorded and released a few comedy rock albums using songs from the show as inspiration, and travelled across Canada twice on a sponsored tour by Teletoon. As a live band, Sons of Butcher used to perform heavied-up covers of 80s songs and they often became fan/crowd favourites. Ultimately, I noticed the positive response and it led to the formation of Moonlight Desires in 2013.” says Trevor Ziebarth.

As an homage to their Canadian music heritage, the band decided to take their name from the popular 80s song ‘Moonlight Desires’ by iconic singer/songwriter Gowan.

“I wanted to have a direct (1980s song) reference …but I also thought it would fit in nicely with the band’s heavier direction,” says Ziebarth.

Track Listing:
1. Glory of Love (4:02) (Peter Cetera cover)
2. Hungry Eyes (3:44) (Eric Carmen cover)
3. The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough (3:09) (Cyndi Lauper cover)
4. Don’t You Forget About Me (4:05) (Simple Minds cover)

“Just the tonic we need in these times, putting a little smile on your face and plenty of riffs for your bucks.” – Get Ready To Rock

“I just wish there were more than the four songs on here, because what’s on offer is great. I’ve played the EP on a loop since I popped it on to review it and it’s definitely going to keep on playing. None of the tracks are hugely different from their original recordings, but it doesn’t matter. They’re all just designed for being sung out loud, and you can warble along in the kitchen to these new versions as easily as you could have back when shoulder pads were in fashion… A great little compilation that will raise a smile as much as your singing voice.” – Moshville Times

“The Canadian band Moonlight Desires, who specialize in turning ’80s pop songs into guitar-driven songs, turn to classic ’80s movie songs for the four track EP At The Movies… It’s a fun blast from the past that will appeal to those of us who saw those movies in the theater when they were originally released along with the younger generation who discovered them via streaming services or cable TV.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

Montreal, QC – June 24, 2020

Seattle Progressive Melodic Death DRAEMORA Shares Music Video About Addiction “Home”

Debut EP “Awakening” Out Now via Ultra Nast Records

Relatively new to the Seattle metal scene, Draemora is comprised of seasoned musicians who, despite COVID-19 slowing their debut, showed the nation and the world their EP “Awakening”, unleashed this past June via Ultra Nast Records.

Today, the band is excited to share their first music video for their track “Home” via its premiere on BeheadingTheTraitor’s YouTube channel HERE.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins adds about the video:

“The video is meant to capture the day in the life of a drug addict/alcoholic. Take the video how you want, but to me, it’s just a depiction of the brutal loneliness of addiction, and the damage it can do.”

Draemora‘s debut EP “Awakening” is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics. This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins elaborates the story behind the writing of “Awakening”:

“It’s intense and beautiful.  It’s angry, sad, and uplifting and I think it is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.  The majority of the lyrics are a culmination of direct excerpts from letters, poems, and life experiences from the period between May 2018 and August 2019.  It was a very intense time in my life.  A relationship I had been in for 10 years was falling apart due to my addiction problems and I had just got sober at the end of April 2018.  Being sober after being intoxicated and high for 16 years was like living in a different world all together.  I had to finally face all of the things I had put off for a very long time and it was like I was learning how to do everything in my life all over again.  I used lyrics and music to channel a lot of those feelings and get it out.  When I was in the beginning, I relied on listening to a few specific metal albums to keep me from slipping into the dark, and without those pieces of music, I may not be walking the earth right now.  I was going to keep this stuff to myself but, the realization that I needed to feel like I wasn’t alone by listening to music that spoke candidly about the same things that I was going through almost forced me to share my stories and others stories on this EP with someone else who is going through the same stuff.”

Recommended for fans of Strapping Young Lad, Whitechapel, and Nevermore, Draemora‘s “Awakening” is available Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play HERE.

Album Stream on YouTube.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

1. Home (3:27)
2. Dead Inside (3:09)

“Draemora’s new EP Awakening is a 17 minute melodic death metal piece with more twists and turns than your average M. Night Shyamalan movie. This is a band that doesn’t stick to the tradition melo-death sounds, instead looking to incorporate some clean singing, some progressive sections and some experimental sounds… This is an EP that incorporates many different sounds, but doesn’t have any filler… A very unique debut release from Draemora.” – Metal Injection

“‘Guilt’ features the band’s penchant for mixing their brutal modern metal with glorious rock melodies! Think of a sound that meshes Gojira, Alien Weaponry, Faith No More, and the more recent era of Lamb of God, and you might begin to understand the group!” – Ghost Cult Mag

“In this playthrough of their song “Guilt” we see Terry from Draemora ripping away with his Fender Telecaster. His tele is loaded with a single EMG 57 and he’s boosting that guy with an Ibanez TS9 going directly into his Mesa. The deadly tone of the 2-channel and a heavy rhythm hand are such a great combo.” – Gear Gods

“A haunting, eerie melody opens “Home” with the an Allegaeon esq melodic moment before some DJent infused riffage takes hold and Wood delivers the kind of unclean vocals that leave you with 3rd degree burns on the inside of your throat. Jenkins interjects with a pair of clean sung verses over some almost Grungy Metalcore and you have a track with perhaps a trio of different styles in a single offering that works because of the cognitive tissue of the narrative.” – Metal Noise

KISW 99.9FM (Seattle) – BJ & Migs L&L BAND OF THE WEEK: Draemora (June 10, 2020)

“LEGION OF SCUM, with its dynamic and pressing drums and sharp riffing, surely one of our favorite tracks.” – HardRockHeavyMetal

After a debut EP and the full-length “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” (2017) in their native language, the band formed in 2010 by bass player and composer Vladislav Tyushin have decided to re-record their songs for the international debut album “The Outer Limits”.

In 2019, Mikhail Kudrey, a talented vocalist, joined Selenseas as the new singer, his unique voice and charisma turned out to be a perfect addition to the band’s style, and recording sessions for the revamped international version of  “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” followed immediately.

The band decided to re-record almost all instruments for the album “The Outer Limits” and to ensure a more powerful and epic sound, several guest musicians were invited: Sergei Lazar (Arkona, Rossomahaar), Ivan Garin, Andrey Zodchiy (ex-Dis Pater), Alexey Verbitsky (Legenda) and Gamil Makhmutov (ex-Ethno-Sound).

Composer Vladislav Tyushin comments:

“This album is filled with powerful and epic sound, and each song has its own meaning, style, and mood. At the same time, all the songs are united by the same atmosphere and are part of the same universe. They are portals, pages of a book, doors which will take you to different worlds and lead you to discover something interesting. All you need is but a single step across the boundary!”

“The Outer Limits” contains elements of folk, progressive, doom, hard rock but is centered around the heavy/power metal genre and will be released worldwide on August 7, 2020.

Rockshots Records: ISLE OF THE CROSS New Music Video ‘The Wolf’

Debut Album “Excelsis” Out Now!

Progressive-death metal band ISLE OF THE CROSS have unleashed their new video ‘The Wolf’ in support of their debut album “Excelsis” released this past February via Rockshots Records.

The video is for tracks “The Wolf, Pt I. Invocation” and “The Wolf, Pt II. Sanctuary”.

Watch the video at this link HERE.

The band explains in further detail:

“The two ‘Wolf’ tracks take a little diversion from the storyline on the album in order to pay homage and deliver a message to a small parish that celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

‘The Wolf, Pt I. Invocation’ is an octagonal ritual where the leader welcomes and initiates the obliteration of the innocent minds of children. ‘The Wolf, Pt II. Sanctuary’ is a direct message to the small parish previously mentioned and quite timely as they celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Though it truly is a universal message to all leaders and followers of religious sects and cults who are so violently overcome by their own self-righteous pride and arrogance; having a form of Godliness and blindly believing through their own willing enslavement that they are actually ‘serving God.’ One of the cardinal sins in the world and one radicals’ are highly fond of, is the brainwashing and tormenting of an innocent mind; especially that of a child. Though redemption is never too far of a reach for any of us and so of utmost importance is the closing monologue.”

Infusing a blend from the avant-garde realms of extreme, symphonic, melodic, and technical death-metal, ISLE OF THE CROSS is led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Je Schneider.

The debut full length “Excelsis” is a concept release based on a tale of two lovers amidst betrayal, murder and their search to reunite in the afterlife. From the immediate and vicious thrust of the opening track ‘Sacrifice’, the listener is quickly catapulted into an enigmatic journey of sonic power. From the furious to the melodious opuses on the album, the listener is enveloped in a dynamic exploration until the very end. At the heart of ISLE OF THE CROSS is the conveyance of depth, poignancy, and redemption through the endurance of tragedy.

‘Excelsis’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Je Schneider.

The soul in the solo and the gift of the riff. The blues from the heart and the colour in the art. Emerging from the underground of Montreal comes The Naked High. Joining forces in the summer of 2015, connected by a love of similar music ranging from blues to rock to metal, the dauntless quartet brings an electric chemistry to their music, amplified when they are on stage.

Releasing their latest EP “Tap Into The Evil” this past May, the band is sharing with fans their new video for the first single they unleashed “Jewel of The Crowd”. The video captures live clips from the band’s December 2019 performance in Montreal at Club Soda.

When asked about the track, the band comments:

“Lyrically and even musically this song takes love from Aerosmith’s style of writing. Sexual innuendos and just dirty fun lyrics. The way rock n’ roll used to be before everyone became so tame. The song is about wild nights and wild shows. It has a sleaze metal sound like riffs from a Guns n Roses, Skid Row, or Aerosmith record.”

Watch the video via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.
The Naked High is Hugo Leclerc-Charron delivering solos on guitar, Simon Ouellet with Iron Maiden-esque vocals, Phil Perreault keeping the low end steady, and Charlie Cayouette backing everything up with his rocking beat.

The Naked High have released their second EP entitled “Tap Into The Evil”. The 6 songs show the evolution of their sound from their 2017 self-titled debut as they push forward into the next chapter of the band and continue to learn from the legends that they admire while forging their own respective path in Rock N Roll.

“Tap Into The Evil” can be heard in full on the following platforms Bandcamp, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. Jewel Of The Crowd (3:22)
2. Rebirth (2:42)
3. Sleep Paralysis (6:54)
4. She’s So Marie (4:33)
5. Moon Turns red (5:39)
6. Pull of The Void (7:01)

“Varied vocals, catchy riff and virtuoso solos at a high level. The Naked High are a welcome surprise from the Stoner area for me. Tap Into the Evil is varied and creative. No surprise that the band can already look back on a solid fan base. A must for fans of Alice in Chains or Black Sabbath , an absolute recommendation for everyone else. Too bad that it is only available digitally. However, I am convinced and give a whopping 10/10 .” – Sound Magnet

“The Naked High was already being greeted by applause when they walked on stage. Their mushroom-infused sound pulled in the crowd faster than a turkey on Thanksgiving. I mean, as soon as they opened up with “Liquid Love,” a song that resonates well with the stoner crowd, people were already into it. Simon Ouellet, singer and frontman, is basically what would happen if Ronnie James Dio had a child with Phil Anselmo.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2019 Live Review opening for King Buffalo, Mountain Dust)

“The night opened with The Naked High. Their sound covered a lot of diverse metal territory. Their vocalist had an operatic Iron Maiden vibe, while the guitar playing took cues from Ozzy Osbourne‘s career and beyond. The second song in their set had a distinctly early metal sound, but a lot of the guitar parts evoked a slightly younger generation, particularly the squealing tendencies of Zakk Wylde.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2017 Live Review Opening for Truck Fighters)

“The group play an eclectic mix of blues/stoner rock and metal, and do so very well! For a band that hasn’t been around for too long, I feel like they’ve really nailed down their unique sound, even if the elements they use are rather familiar. Musically, the style falls in between Black Sabbath and the bluesy bravado of Danzig, and their songs that night were infectious with groove and tasteful guitar play. Singer Simon Ouellet showed his vast arsenal of vocal styles as well as his entertaining mid-song banter. This is one Montreal band everyone should keep their eye out for.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2016 Live Review opening for Bongzilla, Black Cobra)

“This Montreal band has some legit balls, and has made their debut with six tracks worthy of twenty year veterans. The Naked High is somewhere between metal and hard rock, with just a touch of doom. Excellent musicianship, songwriting and production quality (recorded, mixed and mastered at badass studio, wherever that is). I keep playing this one, and the digital download comes with lyrics, which are worth it for the song “Juice” alone (a song about Colonel Angus, so to speak). Here’s a good example of an album where the cover art pretty much performs perfect vetting for its clientele. If you dig the cover, I’m pretty sure you’ll dig the tunes, and if the cover is a turn-off for you, you are probably making the right call to walk away. Here is the opener, “Mean Amphetamine”. It gets better and better as it progresses.” – Heavy Metal Text Books
