EPK – Bloodfeast Ritual – Altars of Sacrifice (2020)

Publicist – Jon Asher – asher[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“This EP is a love letter to Death Metal. Old School, Modern, Technical and Brutal; we love all of the aspects of death metal as a genre, and we wanted to show that with this EP. We tried to display our influences by dramatically changing the vibe of each song.” – Bloodfeast Ritual

For fans The Black Dahlia Murder, Arsis, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Death

“It would be easy to understate how epic this EP feels, especially with it being a smaller release by a new band, but do yourself a favor and give yourself over to the monster mash that Bloodfeast Ritual is throwing down. You won’t regret it.” – New Noise Mag

“The first solo on “Eternally Molested By The One Most Foul” being a fine example of that, it’s second to none in face melting style. Adding in some gang chant moments is perhaps a step away from the genre but works really well, while a second is jaw dropping. As a group they have matched off the lyrical horrors with the sonic perfection with furious intent and breakneck speed riffs so there is no weak moment in this beast… “Altars of Sacrifice” needs to be heard to be believed, it’s an absolute tour de force of Death Metal, a whirlwind of exceptional leads and bloodcurdling storytelling [9/10]” – Metal Noise

“”Chunky riffs, technical playing, and vicious raspy barks make up the majority of their sound, but they also display fistfuls of melodic leads that have more of a Trad sensibility to them that helps the band stand out, particularly on the first two tracks.” – The Metal Crypt

“Are you a fan of Swedish Death Metal (not the HM2 style) mixed with a bit of technical death metal and mixed with just a little bit of a kind of Brutal Death Metal here and there? Well, if you do, this EP is for you. This is the first release from this band and it is a very good first release. You really need to check them.” – Blessed Altar Fanzine

“Bloodfeast Ritual offers us a combination of riffs, solos and various vocals. Filled with good transitions and brutal final parts, you’ll find it also enjoyable on stage! In the meantime, way to headsets and speakers to listen to this lavish Death Metal while watching an Old-School artwork with dark colors and a gory design.” – Actain Fernalis

“frontal, straightforwardly blunt and without detours to the sun-tanned bald head. This was a death metal treat and I am absolutely thrilled!” – 10/10 – Hellfire Magazin

“Consistently brutal and relentlessly thrashy, Bloodfeast Ritual’s Altars of Sacrifice is an impressive and intense debut showcasing the many musical influences and songwriting prowess the band has to offer.” – Uncanny Metal

“If you like your death metal a little bit more of the shred-tastic sides of things, and are sick of all these ‘old school’ bands, then Bloodfeast Ritual’s debut EP ‘Altars of Sacrifice’ might just be for you. Coming hard on the Arsis/Black Dahlia Murder side of things, these Los Angeles dudes are tearing it up… The mix of shredding brutality and classical guitar work here is a reason that Bloodfeast Ritual have really got something going on on ‘Altars of Sacrifice’. It is a true love letter to the genre in its myriad forms, and Bloodfeast Ritual have the chops to pull off a variety of styles to really uphold the traditions without losing their modern edge. Check it out” – The Killchain Blog

“Gruesome death metal played with loads of energy and skill that will blow you away!” – Zax Records and Reviews

#20 on WORT-FM (Madison, WI) Loud Rock Top 20 and Adds for the Week of 8/17/20

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Drum tracking took a week, and the band ended up scrapping most of it.

2. While in the studio, David Ainsworth spent over $75 on Taco Bell. The band ate it all.

3. Guitars were tracked in two days, including solos.

4. The band had to rewrite the lyrics twice because vocalist David Ainsworth kept losing the papers they gave him.

5. Mike and Hunter know almost all of the lines of the movie “Scream”.

About:

Bloodfeast Ritual was formed in the barren lands of Los Angeles when guitarist Hunter Gurney found fellow guitarist Michael Bala shredding at a Guitar Center in Hollywood, CA. With the shock and awe of each other’s talent, a friendship was quickly formed, and soon after the two mad lads began jamming, jellying, and collaborating in all senses of the phrase.

Between the two of them, there was a strong, electrical creative energy that compelled the pair to both write songs. The young shredders were very inspired by HP Lovecraft, 80s horror, and older style death metal. Hunter added his own flavor to Michael’s existing songs, and Michael helped Hunter expand his own songwriting abilities. The pair worked very quickly, and composed a handful of crunchy tunes; soon after, it was time to find other members to join their cult for brutality.

Through a mutual friend, the duo met growler David Ainsworth. Michael and Hunter were taken aback at David’s ability to perform metal vocals in a wide variety of styles, and suddenly the wolf pack became a terrifying trio of tremendous heavy metal titans. The Mississippi Mutant aka David became close with Michael and Hunter and joined them on their quest for death metal domination.

After a few solid months in the practice room, the trio decided it was time to hit the studio. Five songs for annihilation were chosen to be recorded and were executed with surgical precision, under the watchful eye of Charlie Waymire from Ultimate Studios. Michael and Hunter shared bass duties on the recording, and vocalist David injected his vocal venom from with lyrics of demons and eldritch horrors. Showcasing a range from technical death metal to melodic shred, the trio’s sonic devastation “Altars of Sacrifice” (EP) was completed and set to assault the masses on July 24th, 2020.

Hunter adds:

“I think there’s something for every type of metal fan on our debut EP. We have some more melodic stuff, some more brutal stuff, some stuff that sounds modern, some stuff that sounds old school. I believe people will think the songs are fun to listen to.

Michael also comments:

“We want the EP to tell a story, in a sense. It’s inspired by 80’s horror movies, HP Lovecraft, and general blasphemy. Musically, the EP starts very melodic, but becomes more dissonant and technical as it goes on. We’re hoping that this takes the listener on a journey of shred brutality, and fun. Overall, this EP is our love letter to Death Metal. Old School, Modern, Technical and Brutal; we love all of the aspects of death metal as a genre, and we wanted to show that with this EP. We tried to display our influences by dramatically changing the vibe of each song.”

2020 is proving to be a big year for Bloodfeast Ritual. The band is beginning their journey, and they appreciate each and everyone that has encouraged them, either in the form of inspiration or those that have taken the time to pass on a kind word. Especially during the current age of Covid.

Bloodfeast Ritual’s debut EP “Altars of Sacrifice” is available on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon.

Canada’s Epic Nerdy Black Metal Snakeblade Streaming Single “When Kingdoms Collide”

Debut Album “The Kingdom” Out July 31st

Picture of Snakeblade (Mike Redston)

Snakeblade is a one-man black metal band born in Vancouver, Canada, out of Covid-19 boredom. The last couple of months have been very productive for the project, exemplified by the upcoming full-length album “The Kingdom” introduced with the single “When Kingdoms Collide”.

Listen at the following links:
YouTube
Spotify
Facebook

The man behind the project is Mike Redston and he explains how the band and album came to be and what it means for him:

“Snakeblade all came about during the Coronavirus lockdown. Searching for an escape from pandemic anxiety, I absorbed myself in this project and recorded an entire album in about one month. Like many people during this crazy year, I struggled with a lot of anxiety and depression. Snakeblade is my fun escape from all that.”

Coined as fun, nerdy n’dirty black metal, the project completely deviates from the staunch ‘be grim, no smiling’ traditional black metal. The single “When Kingdoms Collide” is the anthem for Snakeblade and its vision. It’s an ultimate escape to a land of fantasy. The songs on the album are heavily influenced by Lord of the Rings, The Witcher, Metal Gear Solid, and Dungeons and Dragons, and the single describes a medieval battle of epic proportions: “Spells! Swords! And Fire!”

The album has a handful of guest solos from other Canadian musicians including Devan Howes (Kayas); Dylan Parker (Protosequence); Kyler Li and Matthew Pancoust (Truent). Ever the ambitious one, Redston doesn’t anticipate Snakeblade staying as a one-man project for long. He is working towards bringing the creative and fun atmosphere to live venues when able and this album is going to kindle interest in anticipation.

Snakeblade is recommended for fans of Immortal, Skeletonwitch, and Midnight; “The Kingdom” marches into ears on July 31, 2020, ready yourselves!

Album Pre-Order HERE.

1. When Kingdoms Collide (4:22)

About:

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Snakeblade was formed as an escapist project by Mike Redston while the entire world quarantined. What came out of this anxious time may surprise you though, as Snakeblade refuses to follow typical one-man black metal trends. Every song explodes with energy and youthful rage, delivering a pummeling of riffs, blastbeats, and shrieking vocals. With lyrical topics of fantasy, medieval battles, lord of the rings, and video games, Snakeblade is a headbanging nerd’s wet dream.

Redston adds:

“Snakeblade is where all my nerdiness gets released. I’m a big fan of fantasy, video games, RPG’s, all that shit. Songs on the upcoming album “The Kingdom” were heavily inspired by Lord of the Rings, The Witcher, Metal Gear Solid, and Dungeons and Dragons. The name Snakeblade actually comes from my first character in Dungeons and Dragons, which was a bugbear.”

This is the only beginning for Snakeblade as onslaught of more music is to come with two albums worth of material ready to go.

Snakeblade’s debut album “The Kingdom” is due out July 31st, 2020 and was mixed by Myles Ogilvie (Diretone Music) and
mastered by Logan Macdonald (Logan Gordon Engineering).

Canada’s Red Cain is finishing their “Kindred” saga with the release of “Kindred: Act II” this coming October; and to whet palettes in anticipation, the single “Demons” debuts today!

The new single explores a demon summoning gone horribly right. Lick your lips and embrace your inner beast with this banger of a track. Red Cain explains the track:

“In what is becoming a tradition, we remember our roots and continue our romp through “Kindred: Act II” with this goth rock anthem evocative of the delicious, bloody melancholy of Charon, 69 Eyes, Lord of the Lost, with a touch of Sisters of Mercy lost between the lines. This was a super fun track to write and play. It flowed naturally for us, and we put it into music with minimal changes – and haven’t stopped enjoying it since. Best consumed ice-cold, on moonlit night drives, an eldritch, forgotten places – with bloody abandon. Feast, friends!”

The spiritual successor to the previous album’s “Juliet”, “Demons” hits hard and heavy in the best goth rock fashion, layering brazen up-front guitar riffs with a groovy electronic backing and pulsing bassline – the foundation to the age-old baritone-voiced gothic tale of a man looking to the dark side for power – and finding a wild ride.

Recommended for fans of Kamelot, Mastodon, and Amaranthe, “Demons” can be heard via its premiere on SonicPerspectives HERE.

More singles are planned to be unleashed leading up to the expected release of “Kindred: Act II” this coming October 2020.

“Kindred: Act I” is available on Shop Sliptrick, Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp.

About:

Described as a vehicle of “Melancholy and Rage” and born out of the emerging music scene of Alberta, Canada, 2017 YYC Awards Metal Recording of the Year winner Red Cain is a power/progressive metal project with Russian roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and elements of Slavic myth and Russian paganism in the storytelling tradition of the cult of Veles, Red Cain champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience.

Stated by frontman Evgeniy Zayarny as wanting to bring back the “Devil’s music” mysticism all too often missing in modern metal acts, Red Cain delivers flair, groove, and an intricate, lethal edge in their music. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Amaranthe, Alter Bridge – whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of the band is all of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy, shaken and stirred.

Red Cain released its debut self-titled EP in November 2016 to rave reviews from a variety of publications such as Dead Rhetoric, MetalUnderground, and Firewind magazine, among many others. Red Cain’s EP had the honour of winning Metal Recording of the Year at the 2017 YYC Music Awards. The band has a strong emerging fanbase around the world, being named one of the top 200 bands of 2016 by Headbangers Latinoamerica and the EP’s cover art selected as one of 2016’s 15 best by Metal Underground.

Red Cain’s first full-length album “Kindred: Act I” was released March 2019 to a variety of excellent reviews internationally, reaching #1 on Canadian Earshot Loud charts and establishing the band as a force in the Canadian metal scene, and landing the band a distribution deal with European label Sliptrick Records. A variety of festival appearances at Loud As Hell Metal Festival, Hyperspace Metal Festival, and Canada Wacken Competition have served to cement that status. Red Cain’s music videos for “JULIET” and “ZERO” have to date garnered 11 international film festival awards, including the Music Video Award at the Accolade Global Film Competition (LA). The band aims to deliver its follow-up to “Kindred: Act I” in 2020.

From Calgary, Canada comes Every Hour Kills, a hard-hitting melodic, modern metal project that has, in its many iterations, taken the local and international scenes by force. After going silent for a few years, Every Hour Kills has a new EP on the horizon, the aptly titled “Re:Awaken”.

In the 22nd century, mankind is faced with a difficult decision to sacrifice part of itself to save the other. Each song on “Re:Awaken” tells the story of an individual existing in this fragmented future; their struggle to exist amidst the chaos of forces of the elite alien race and the constant encroaching tide of technology. Every Hour Kills shares the evolution of this EP compared to the last:

“With every release, we are trying to push ourselves technically, in the writing and thematically. We aren’t limited to any particular genre or style, whatever feels right and comes out is allowed to happen – whether that be a blast beat or a guitarless synthwave section.”

The introductory single of the album, “Veiled Aurora” features guest vocals Shaley Bourget of Dayshell, Of Mice & Men & guest guitar solo Morgan Reid of Bloodshot Dawn. The first track on the EP provides a heavy, angular opening with an uplifting melody to signify the struggle and contrast mankind faces in the newly developing world.

“Re:Awaken” includes 4 tracks and instrumental mixes of each one, also Included is a high-quality illustrated storybook by Splice Comics to supplement the lyrical and visual themes of the band.

Every Hour Kills mixes djenty guitar work with electronic undertones, finished off with a variety of vocals gracing a wide range. They are recommended for fans of Soilwork, In Flames, and Starset.

“Veiled Aurora” releases on July 24th with the full EP “Re:Awaken” releasing on October 9, 2020. EP Pre-Save HERE.

About:

“Every hour wounds, but the last one kills” – Anonymous

Every Hour Kills is a powerhouse ensemble featuring the core of ex-Divinity / Enditol guitarist Sacha Laskow, bassist Brent Stutsky (ex-Breach of Trust), along with vocalist Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (ex-Out of Your Mouth).

The new EP titled ‘Re:Awaken’ set for release on October 9, 2020, tells the stories of individuals existing in this fragmented future; their struggle to exist amidst the chaos of forces of the elite race and the constant encroaching tide of technology. An accompanying illustrated short storybook by Splice Comics will delve even deeper into the EHK lore.

Every Hour Kills was built to challenge the idea of what defines a “band”. Rather, the group sees itself as a constantly evolving musical collective; guest vocalists and soloists across the songs bring their own unique artistry and elevate the collective impact of Every Hour Kills’ brand. The lyrics, artwork, visuals, and themes all look toward the future, asking the key postmodern question of how will emerging technology and our humanity progress and co-exist?

Shared Stage with: Godsmack, Apocalyptica, Trivium, Obey the Brave, Into Eternity, Kobra and the Lotus

“The band plays a sound of metal sounds extremely modern and melodic, coming across as a mix of Scar Symmetry and Fear Factory, with sprinkles of djent for added flair.” – New Noise Magazine

“Should the band be able to hold this standard on their first full-length album, one has to count on Every Hour Kills in the first league of Modern Metal. CrypticRock gives Every Hour Kills 4.5 out of 5 stars.”

“The song has an amazing feel to it that is uplifting and empowering at the same time and it makes you feel like could run a marathon and finish first place. “ – Headbanger Review

Unleashing their new album “Ascend To The Throne” earlier this month on July 10th via Head Rattle Productions INC., Vancouver’s Saints of Death are sharing with fans their new lyric video for the track “God Can’t Help You Now”. The band wrote the song about governments and Religions hiding behind a false sense of security. Waging wars and dividing humanity for power and control of the nation, all in the name of god

For fans of Pantera, DevilDriver, and Arch Enemy, you can check out Saints of Death’s new lyric video with its double bassist assault via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.

Saints of Death
‘s new album “Ascend To The Throne” is a 7 track ripping and cohesive released and the second in the Saints of Death repertoire following the 2015 self-titled EP. With a different lineup than the debut effort, Saints of Death now boasts a more robust group that is tighter, more aggressive, and more melodic than ever before along with still featuring their signature sound of having two bassists.

The band comments:

“This album has been a long time coming, and we look forward to getting it into the ears of our fans, new and old alike. After dealing with line up issues for a few years, we finally have a solid line up and are back to kicking ass. The current line up has been together since 2018 and we have really gelled as friends and as band members. Naturally, with this kind of chemistry going on, it was finally time to record a new album.

Like the first EP, there is diversity between each song, allowing each of them to stand out as hard-hitting singles. There is also the consistency that allows the songs to come together as a great album. We talk about important topics such as the trials of society, corruption and corporate greed, mental health as well as a few other topics on this album. Saints put a lot of hard work and passion crafting this album and making it what it is and we’re excited to share it with the world!”

“SOD is a wise band in extreme metal: if more people hear it, the group will gain more fans due to their efficient songwriting. They manage to make it accessible while keeping the music heavy and brutal. It is death, groove, melodeath, aggro, thrash, and they might convince fans of Pantera, Slipknot, Death and Metallica to gather together joyfully violently in a mosh pit… The songs are big on the beat, and the growling is remarkably intelligible. It is growling but you can understand just about every word from the vocalist giant. If you can imagine the energy of Pantera and Slipknot with a bit more of death metal and a pinch of Motörhead, you could be a new convert to the cause.” – Metal Bulletin

“Your classic Quentin Tarantino b-movie sound track song “You Can’t Run” is another Motorhead inspired ripper that flies along at punk speed with a Metal edge before the call to arms of “Soldiers of Metal“. A lyrical declaration of a love of Heavy Metal of all genres that calls together all fans to stand together, stylistically reminiscent to Anthrax in places that boasts a slick Thrash production, it’s a sure fire winner for the live show.” – Metal Noise

“It’s one helluva good time from start to finish.” – Boston Rock Radio

It is the second album he has put out under that moniker and once again he has written an epic, creative record filled not only with his own talent, but also with that of a smorgasbord of special guests from around the world that includes Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Benjamin Ellis (Scar Symmetry), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind), Dean Arnold (Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork), Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura) and Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses).

Dummer comments on the album:

“After nearly three years of creating ‘Embodiment of the Divine,’ I am very pleased to present and share this album with everyone. I’m honored to be joined by a number of guests that have influenced my writing and playing over the years. Their contributions have truly helped bring the album to another level. There’s a whole lot of riffs, solos and melody. The album has its traditional arrangements at times, but is also built on technical and chaotic grounds.  Everything is written and recorded by me with the exception of the guests. I think the overall atmosphere of this album is darker compared to the previous one. The general message I’m trying to convey is about accepting a need for change by disconnecting from things (certain environments, people, parts of yourself) that can no longer serve you and keep you from evolving. Even through disconnecting though, these things still find ways of haunting you.”

Today, Buried Realm shares the “Embodiment of the Divine” full stream before it officially drops on July 24th via its premiere on MetalSucks HERE.

Recommended for fans of Soilwork, Nevermore, and Children of Bodom, Buried Realm is progressive melodic death metal.

The album will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp (CD), and BuriedRealm.com (CD).

About:

A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Following up on his long time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’ The studio project represents a hidden dimension within himself where the ‘buried disputes’ of his life are confronted only through music; where he can express musical ideas without compromising.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is 2020’s “Embodiment of the Divine” due out July 24th and while it is parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it is a forward step in a sojourn that will be continuing.

– 30 –

“Like its predecessor, this one’s an absolute ripper on the more technical / heavy side of the melodic death metal coin.” – Metal Sucks (Embodiment of the Divine Review)

“Featuring guest musicians from bands like Born Of Osiris and past members of Soilwork and Obscura, this album has some beautiful instrumental work that hits hard. Despite there being so many guests, Josh Dummer is the mastermind behind the band and everything is his vision. The instrumentation is a huge highlight for me on Embodiment Of The Divine. Tracks like “Infinite Mutation” really show off the abilities of Dummer and everyone involved. The track is seven-and-a-half minutes long, and it fits in everything from beautiful solos and guitar melodies to really stand out bass parts to blast beats galore.” – Skulls N Bones

“This song (The Wonder and Terror of Fortune) we’re presenting today includes guest contributions by Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura) and Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses). It’s a galloping high-voltage thrill-ride of pulse-pounding riffs and scintillating leads that swirl and soar. The roaring, screaming, and singing vocals are just as exhilarating as the music. Everything is on fire, channeling an unmistakable ebullience, which reaches its zenith in a spectacular extended guitar solo. The fast-punching grooves in the song are a match for the ecstatic energy of everything else. One listen, and you can tell why this track was chosen as the album closer — it sends the listener out on an enormous high.” – No Clean Singing

“Songs like the furious pit-igniter ‘In The Shallow Light’ and the epic title track are turn-of-the-millennium melodeath at their finest. These are intricate, carefully crafted songs that have clearly had a lot of effort put into them, but they also work as standalone adrenaline shots.” – Uber Rock

“…One look at the album sleeve or track list and you can see how many guests are on “Embodiment of The Divine” and it makes for a jaw dropping proposition, especially given it’s predecessor “Ichor Carcinoma”, which is an absolute face melter from start to finish. The fierce and technical “The Burning Remnants” get’s things going like a petrol on a bonfire, with slick technical solos layering up the Death Metal offering in some style.” – Metal Noise

“The drums provide an off-kilter atomic clock, complete with jazzy accents and jackhammer snare, the guitars shred and squeal. It’s thought provoking, musically captivating, and will inspire the curious among you to do some research.” – Beatroute

Illuminated Minerva is a technical, progressive metal band, from Calgary, Canada. Brothers Nathan Bourgeault (guitar) and Jordon Bourgeault (drums) were both musicians growing up and eventually started their first project Sequoia, the beginning of their musical collaboration. Eventually, they moved on to form Illuminated Minerva, with a goal to push the musical boundaries further.

Rounding the lineup out is local scene veteran Matt Petti (bass) who played with drummer Jordon Bourgeault in Verbal Deception; and Pat Lawtey (guitar) who played with the international act Kobra and the Lotus.

The bond between brothers and former bandmates results in a very natural writing process for the progressive metal quartet. Knowing what works and what doesn’t comes easily and allows the band to intertwine astral riffs, and technical harmonies highlighted by the absence of vocals. Combined with archived audio clips the result is oratory artistic storytelling taking the listener through space and time, exploring conspiracies and unanswered questions.

With a captivating and visceral live show, the seasoned musicians of Illuminated Minerva have played with a host of bands locally including Tesseract, Intronaut, and Cloudkicker. In 2014, the band released their debut EP “The Immaculate Deception” and are following it up in 2020 with a full length “Enigma Adamantine” due out Sept 25th.

The album described as a whole:

ENIGMA ADAMANTINE is an instrumental progressive metal album based around conspiracy, ufos, and abductions. A musical examination of modern mythology laid out with hard-hitting bass grooves, technical guitar lines, soaring leads, and complex drumming matched with audio from years past present an auditory mirror reflecting our deepest fears and questions yet to be answered. An album experience as unique as the stories within.

Track by Track explained:

1.  Heart Beat of Creation: Opening up ENIGMA ADAMANTINE with a universal bang, THE HEARTBEAT OF CREATION sets the tone of the album with monstrous grooves and spacey cleans matched against the backdrop of extraterrestrial human origins and universal creation.

2.  Sightings: SIGHTINGS is the track for those who ‘want to believe’! Odd time signatures, throbbing bass and first hand accounts of unknown aircraft frame the question of are we alone.

3.  Abductions: Two bros, one alien abduction. A musical retelling of Charles Hickson’s account of his abduction on the Pascagoula river. Progressive movements mixed technical riffs recount the mind blowing tale of these two friends.

4.  Wilder (Mother Goddess): An onslaught of technical brutality set to a narrative of biology, reptilian beings and ritual. Slithering guitar, ancient rhythms and ripping bass cut deep in this track.

5.  Illuminatus Majoris: The capstone of the album brings beautiful, melodic progressions weaving a web of power, greed, and corruption. Building into a powerful climax, searing leads and a explosive outro close out the album… although a final message remains.

Vancouver’s heavy melodic mixture of post-hardcore sludge Dyatlove released their debut self-titled EP this past May. The EP was recorded at Rain City Recorders with Matt Roach over the course of a few days (watch Make of… Video here). This is an EP that requires attention to take in, with each song taking the listener on a ride with its complex lyrical content.

Today, the band announces the debut EP will be available on cassette version on August 31st from Coup Sur Coup Records along with featuring the exclusive bonus track ‘Die! Kill! Pig!’.

The cassette version is available for pre-order at the following link: https://coupsurcoup.bandcamp.com/album/s-t

Dyatlove guitarist Rikki Jennings–Buford comments:

“We are all super excited to have the cassette release with Coup Sur Coup. Max has supported us from day one and it’s a great working relationship. Even more so we are pumped for everyone to get to hear the bonus track ‘DIE! KILL! PIG!’ It’s a song we are proud of and we are ready for it to be out in the world. Be ready for some more treats after the official release date!”

Coup Sur Coup Records’ Max Cayer adds:

“Vancouver’s Dyatlove brings the perfect balance between sludge and shoegaze. Somewhere between Cult of Luna/Khoma & Hum. It’s a proven fact that the Pacific Northwest always was a hotbed for heavy music, lots of rainy days enable groups to lock up in rehearsal spaces and hack out heavy, intense music. Dyatlove is a testament to that. They’ve put their own twist on the genre, hints of post-hardcore, Emo, and atmospheric heaviness. I’m super proud to be involved in making this release happen, they are right at home with Coup Sur Coup…” I think it’s a testament to the quality of the music to say that after dubbing the tapes, I still want to listen to the album.”

For fans of Converge, Deafheaven, Thrice, and Explosions In The Sky, Dyatlove‘s debut EP is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp HERE.

About:

Dyatlove is a passionate foray into the realm of morose singer-songwriter overtones set alongside heavy music. Longtime friends Sam Caviglia (guitar/vocals) and Rikki Jennings-Buford (guitar) bonded over bands such as Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, and Pinback.

This array of influences drives the diversity of Vancouver, Canada’s Dyatlove, who don’t feel the need to pigeon hole into a particular genre. From sad songs to crushing sludge metal to 2-minute hardcore songs, Dyatlove conveys emotion and brings the heavy with drop A tuning.

Starting individually, the band works on riffs and ideas, eventually bringing them together to be fleshed out further. As full believers of limitless creativity, they don’t tie themselves to classic song structures. The lyrics come from many places, some are stories, some are personal experiences. There are songs about love of family, songs about loss, songs about anger and songs about struggles and addictions. Although varied in the subject matter they all have one thing in common, feeling.

Performing with the same intense passion and emotion that they bring to the jam space, Dyatlove intends to really connect to their fans, and show what their songs mean to them. With Rob Sheldrick (drums) and Justin Lacey (bass), the quartet delivers with an infectious openness and energy. Their self-titled, debut EP is being released on May 29, 2020 with the cassette version being released by Coup Sur Coup Records that will feature an exclusive bonus track ‘Die! Kill! Pig!’.

“they’ve got one behemoth set of four savage cuts on this record that warrant a major repeating, and a lineup of tunes that command & demand your full attention.  This whole experience met every hope & expectation I could have had, then smashed & surpassed them all – Dyatlove’s EP didn’t let me down for a solitary second – you need this record on your playlists this year.” – Sleeping Bag Studios

“Their sound is eclectic and diverse, at times morose and others bone crunchingly heavy. ” – The Sludgelord

“This is a collection of songs about love of family, songs about loss, songs about anger and songs about struggles and addictions all wrapped up in the confines of half an hour’s worth of music…” – Metal Noise

“One-Man Black Metal that’s fun, energetic, and nerdy as hell!

Label: Moonshooter Production

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND

1. Snakeblade is a one-man black metal like no other – it’s fun! Songs are upbeat and exploding with energy delivering a pummelling of riffs, blastbeats, and shrieking vocals. All instruments are played by Mike Redston and recorded from his apartment in East Vancouver.

2. Snakeblade was started just months ago at the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown. All songs were recorded in only about one month. When Kingdoms Collide is the official debut single for Snakeblade’s debut album, The Kingdom, being released July 31st!

 3. Members of local Canadian acts Truent, Protosequence, and Kayas have teamed up with Snakeblade to deliver some amazing guest solos to the upcoming debut album, The Kingdom.  Keep an ear out for some top-notch shredding atop all the chaos.

4. Lyrically, Snakeblade is a nerd’s wet dream. Topics include fantasy, medieval battles, and video games.  Fans of Lord of the Rings, The Witcher, Game of Thones and similar series will have a feast of lyrics to dissect and delve into. The name Snakeblade actually comes from Mike’s first character in Dungeons and Dragons, which was a bugbear.

5. Mike Redston tries to record all his songs in one-take playthroughs. That means he doesn’t chop the song apart when he’s recording, which results in a ‘fast and loose’ sound. Snakeblade ain’t about robotic, highly produced recording – there’s nothing badass about a completely clean-cut production. Snakeblade is honest, authentic and plays with attitude – it’s fuckin rock n roll baby!

Canadian Thrash Legends ANONYMUS Launch IPA Beer “La Bestia”

Team Up With Microbrasserie Le Fermentor For New 6.66% Brut IPA Beer

First Spanish Album “La Bestia” Out Now! via Bam&co Heavy

Canadian thrash legends Anonymus are celebrating their recently unleashed 12th studio album “La Bestia” (Bam&Co Heavy) with the launch of their own IPA beer, named in honour of their first Spanish release.

Best known for his shredding skills as guitarist and producer for his band Anonymus, Jef Fortin is proud to demonstrate his other passion… brewing beer!

In 2017, partnering with Reanimator growler Patrick Martin (which Fortin has produced their 2015 album ‘Horns Up’ along with their upcoming 2020 full length), the two joined forces to open La Microbrasserie Le Fermentor in L’Assomption, QC. Located 40 km east of Montreal, beers crafted at Le Fermentor have been receiving great praise from local connaisseurs. With the demand from their thirsty clientele, the operators of Le Fermentor have expanded to bottle their collection of beers. These beers are distributed in the province of Quebec for the time being, but the duo of Fortin and Martin are ambitious to expand and look forward to what the future may hold.

The Anonymus limited-edition beer “La Bestia” is a 6.66 alc/vol dry IPA, which was dry-hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, and Mosaic hops. Those American hops bring out the citrus, pine, and tropical fruit aromas. Poured into a glass, it reveals a yellow liquid with a nice white head that is very easy to drink.

Anonymus‘ “La Bestia” IPA is also available for online order at www.lefermentor.com/boutique along with a special “Mercre-death” beer launch party hosted by the band on July 22nd at Microbrasserie Le Fermentor (located at 355 Boulevard de l’Ange-Gardien, L’Assomption). The event will begin at 7 pm local time. Full event details can be found HERE.

On June 12th, Anonymus released their latest album “La Bestia” via label Bam&co Heavy. Known for their discography of both French and English releases, “La Bestia” is their first full length that is completely in Spanish. You may be asking why a Spanish album? Well since 3/4 of the band speaks Spanish. Drummer Carlos Araya is Chilean born, and Oscar (Lead Vocals and Bass) and Dan Souto (Guitars and Backing Vocals) are sons of Spanish immigrants it was time to make one.

The tracks on “La Bestia” were produced mainly by guitarist Jef Fortin as well as Colin Richardson who also produced 1999’s ‘Instinct’ and Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm) who produced 2006’s ‘Chapter Chaos Begins’. The album also features the bilingual song “Violencia Versus Violence” with the participation of Carlos Maldos of Lethal Creation (MX) and Arno Dhenain Le Bourhis of Black Bomb A (FR) along with a second bilingual track “Tierra” with Marco Calliari singing in Italian.

About:

Anonymus is a Canadian thrash metal band that explodes on stage with each presence, that pulls you in with its passion and that yells at you with corrosive and violent texts that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Since their first release in 1994, Anonymus has made its mark on the Quebec music scene. From the beginning, the group has been well received while demonstrating its brutal sound and technique that has continually evolved over the years. Oscar Souto (vocals, bass) Daniel Souto (guitar, vocals) Carlos Araya (drums), Jef Fortin (guitar since 2006) and Marco Calliari (vocals, guitar from 1994 to 2006) have since widely traveled the roads of their country, participated in the deprivation of Mononc’Serge and continue today to ignite stages everywhere they go. These veterans of the metal scene continue to proudly carry the torch after 20 years of chaos and barbaric music.

Forever hungry for metal, everyone in Anonymus brings ideas to the table. Sometimes it is a whole song or just the beginnings of one, yet together the band works to create a full thrashy anthem from the pieces, working on it until it is complete. The music always comes first, and when the ambiance is formulated, the lyrics, which come from a personal place and from current events, can be added.

Unstoppable and indestructible, inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; Anonymus is nothing short of the powerful, aggressive and technical thrash metal that they have been refining for decades exemplified on their impressive discography of both French and English releases, which includes: “Ni vu, ni connu” (1994); Stress (1996); Instinct (1999); Daemonium (2002); Academie du Massacre (2003); Chapter Chaos Begins (2006); Musique Barbare (2008); État Brute (2011); Envers et contre tous (2015); P.O.M.M.E (2017); Sacrifices (2019); and their first-ever Spanish album La Bestia (2020) due out June 12 via label Bam&co Heavy.

Today, Anonymus does not need a presentation. This institution of the Quebec metal industry has been offering for twenty-six years, a passion for dark notes and unrivaled power. The offer is still valid. With more than 1500 career shows under their belt, Anonymus is completely in their element when performing in front of fans, they offer only their absolute best ensuring the crowd is moving. Having shared the stage with metal great such as Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, and Kataklysm at festivals such as Heavy Montreal, Montebello, and through international tours, they are no strangers to a wild show.

ANONYMUS FOLLOWS ITS PATH, AGAINST ALL ODDS!
