Digital Single – https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/moniker7/hindsight

““Hindsight” embraces the eccentricities of the genre (prog) without getting too caught up in sludge or showmanship. It’s a melodic track that blends, blurs, and bristles, mourning the ever-flowing march of time with a clear-eyed sense of what prog needs to matter now.” – Georgia Straight – Van Jams: New Vancouver music from June 2025

FUN FACTS:

1) The band was started just to enter a Battle of the Bands competition

2) The first show we drew a considerable crowd by just the demos on our Myspace.

3) We played that first show with three guitarists and two vocalists on a stage that could barely fit the drums

4) We had a fan from Belgium, travelling to Vancouver for a trip, saw a poster for a show, and ran to see us that night. Entering after our second song and running right to the front and headbanging for the entire set. Afterwards, we thanked him, but he barely spoke any English, and he got a shirt and left with a smile on his face.

5) We encouraged a local bar to put on live music and became the house band for a few weeks, and their booze sales skyrocketed, and they thanked us with a tray full of 12 vodka shots right before our set.

6) one night we had someone breakdancing in the crowd and our singer Jonny (used to be a hiphop rapper), jumped from the stage and they had a whole breakdancing battle in the middle of a mosh pit.

7) Our songs were recorded in an old studio where Nickelback originally did their demos.

Brewed in a basement suite fueled by the lust for bringing their hometown of Vancouver, BC, something it’s never heard of before, the members of progressive collective Moniker, whom all met as students while attending Audio Engineering school, returns with its next taste of new music, “Hindsight” to follow single ”From The Grave” released March 31st of this year and their first self-titled full-length unleashed back in 2021.

“You normally had either brutal death metal or indie rock. Bringing melodic progressive metal to this city was our goal, and we are back to finish it,” adds the band.

Before the digital single for “Hindsight” is officially available on June 6th, 2025, on all platforms, the progressive quintet is unveiling its music video that can be viewed below.

The band comments on the track:

“To those who know us, it will be just as everyone expects, for those who don’t know us, prepare for the unexpected. This single gives a balance between clean melodies and delay-saturated guitar licks, all the way to soul-crushing riffs with gut-wrenching screams. Time flows on and on, whether we want it to or not. Our vision may be clouded, but hindsight is 20/20.”

With its melodic sense, progressive and sizzling heavy riffs, and soaring vocals, Moniker is recommended for fans of Tool, Deftones, Trivium, Leprous, and Killswitch Engage.

““Smite” offers a taste of the band’s ever-evolving sound, merging gothic, progressive, and nu metal influences.” – Metal Insider

“You’re going for a ride today with the premiere of the music video for “Love Fiction,” the latest single from Night’s Edge. A cool visual accompaniment, the premise of the video, a sped-up night drive of the city and the freeway, complements the song’s intensity well. The single is from the band’s latest record, The World That Never Was. Featuring eleven new tracks, the album is set to be released on August 21st. “Love Fiction” is an introduction to this era of Night’s Edge, their third full-length since first emerging in 2018. The song is a profound reflection on depression and mental health. It romanticizes depression, likening it to a partner who is always there for someone as if the condition itself has become a security blanket.” – V13

“Night’s Edge is a dynamic three-piece pushing the boundaries of alternative metal with a sound that straddles gothic melodrama, modern heaviness, and synth-drenched theatrics…. a collection of tracks that fuse headbanging weight with danceable grooves, rich atmospherics, and introspective lyricism. With influences ranging from HIM, System of a Down, Deftones, to Coheed and Cambria, Night’s Edge has carved a uniquely immersive and cinematic sound that evokes both the personal and the fantastical.” – Crannk

“The best part was how they fused a heavy sense of emotion in the music. You can hear it, and feel it, and they don’t hold back.” – Metal Temple

==================================================

About The Album Artwork:

The album art depicts a person falling into space as they lose their connection to reality and turn into a disconnected ghostly form.  This evaporation into an astral form is a metaphor for the loss of self-identity.

About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

LYRICS: The World That Never Was is an exploration of the loss of self-identity into various voids including obsession, rage, and uncertainty.  The final three songs on the album detail a parable where the protagonist awakes in a world suddenly devoid of people and must face their own self in the absence of anyone else, or so it may seem.

MUSICALLY: The World That Never Was is packed with different elements of rock and metal combined with the distinct Night’s Edge sound.  Fans of alternative metal, symphonic metal, and even pop punk will have something to enjoy from this album.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Someone to Stay: MUSIC:  Ripping guitar leads to start off the album. This song touches a little bit on a lot of the Night’s Edge sound and sets up the listener for what’s to come.  LYRICS: This song sets the stage for the album, exploring the loss of self-identity and the desire to fill it with whatever vice or influence is available.

2. If You Loved Me: MUSIC: Classic 80’s inspired rocker with soaring vocals, a ripping solo, and a bridge section that delivers the gothic doom and gloom Night’s Edge is known for. LYRICS: The Song describes losing oneself in a toxic relationship and the feeling of helplessness when your partner’s self-destruction leads to your own.  Lyrics change point of view between the victim (verse) and the abuser (chorus).

3. Man of Many Faces: MUSIC: Heavy at the start with a pop-punk clap and “Woah” chorus, the song shifts attitudes throughout, matching the LYRICS about hiding behind disposable facades for different occasions before a moment of honesty in the song’s conclusion of wanting to be seen and needed for one’s true self.

4. Love Fiction: MUSIC: Conceptualized as a mix between Deftones alt metal, synthwave, and lo-fi beats, Love Fiction’s wave of music floods the listener in the swell of bouncing rhythms while the vocals take center-stage, delivering complex emotions. LYRICS: A romanticization of depression, viewing one’s mental illness as a safe and secure lover who is there with them through everything, who will never leave, and who one can always return to.

5. Wish You Wouldn’t: MUSIC: An 80’s bop, this is a song to get people dancing and forgetting about all of the melancholy the previous tracks just dug up.  LYRICS: Sike, this is a song for dancing alone, with lyrics describing the inability to relate and connect to others, specifically in being unable to verbalize how you feel, and the frustration felt when others ask what is wrong when one cannot comprehend it themself.

6. Overdue For Destruction: MUSIC: Back to the System of a Down influenced industrial alt-metal with bouncing riffs and an in-your-face chorus.  LYRICS: The Song describes self-destruction and realizing that many of our problems are a product of our own id.

7. Smite: MUSIC: A sinister mid-tempo crusher, Smite is as headbangable as it is danceable. With unpredictable changes, Latin Choirs, and soaring synths, Smite is an invitation to the Night’s Edge cult. LYRICS: The Song describes the desire to be erased by God.

8. Ataecina: MUSIC: A classic Night’s Edge gothy, doomy waltz.  Melodramatic, romantic, and powerful – this song is deeply influenced by Type O Negative. LYRICS: Ataecina is about romantic obsession, specifically from the point of view of a worshipper to their deity.  An unhealthy desire for one’s goddess that consumes all sense of self.

9. Songs In Grey Space I: Reaching: MUSIC:  Coming in at 7:43, Reaching is the longest Night’s Edge song ever written, and the prog rock centerpiece of the album. After the emotional density of Ataecina, the first hit of Reaching is refreshing, and is the first step down a three-song journey of searching for meaning and purpose in an empty world.  LYRICS:  Reaching is the first of three songs telling a parable of a person who wakes up in a world where every other person is suddenly missing.  Despite this, our protagonist feels as if they are being watched by a million eyes. How do you fill the spaces of your identity when there is no one else around and no relationships to define you?

10. Song In Grey Space II: Soaring: Music: Balls out alternative metal, a two and a half minute in-your-face anthem that doesn’t let up.  The perfect refresher after reaching.  LYRICS:  In their empty world, our protagonist challenges the universe, God, or whoever, and is answered.  They were not ready for the response.

11. Songs In Grey Space III: Separating: MUSIC: A haunting keys track leads into a driving, straightforward metal song to close out the album and the three-song suite. It has elements of melodeath, such as harsh vocals and screams, guitar harmonies, breakdowns, and intense drumming that serve to create a song that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go until the album ends. LYRICS: In the conclusion to the three-song suite, the protagonist has realized through their journey that the feeling of not fitting is a shared human experience; it is inescapable. The protagonists take this idea to unhealthy extremes, believing that the universe is made up of only two things: you, the individual, and everything else.

Fun Facts – Story Angles:

1) “Girl Friend Metal” – Our fans in the Baltimore scene refer to us as Girl Friend Metal, a tag that is starting to stick.

2) “Warning Partial Nudity” – During live shows, Damian has a habit of ripping his pants off and revealing themed booty shorts underneath, and the crowd usually demands Brian take his shirt off.

3) “Eclectic Covers”- We have put out unique covers of “Nights in White Satin” by The Moody Blues, “Touch of Evil” by Judas Priest, “Cry Little Sister” from The Lost Boys Soundtrack, and most recently, “Change in the House of Flies” by Deftones.  We always change the originals dramatically into a new, mutated Night’s Edge form.

4) Glow Boi Era- Prior to 2023, a major part of the Night’s Edge live show was bringing black lights and fluorescent glow paint for the band members and audiences. While we did have fun with this gimmick back in the day, we collectively decided around mid-2022 that it was time to retire the glow paint.

5) Brian, Damian, and Dan have known each other in the music scene since 2016. Dan joined Night’s Edge back in 2019, and Damian joined up in 2023, so we had all developed solid friendships as fans of local metal and each other’s bands prior to playing music together.

Three albums, an EP, and more shows than the band can keep track of – Night’s Edge has been grinding since 2018, sharpening their craft on the stage and in the studio.  Steadily building a following online and in the crowd.  Developing a sound that is inimitably their own.

And now it is time for their newest album “The World that Never Was” to step out from its cradle.  Lead single “If You Loved Me” is a driving, hard rocker with 80’s atmosphere, gothic excess, and bitter, bitter lyrics detailing a rollercoaster relationship.  Dropped on March 27th, the song is just a taste of the songwriting prowess and incisive lyrics that the album is built upon.

Night’s Edge believes in creating music that has a purpose.  There is no copy-catting of other artists, or following trends here – even the band’s select cover tunes turn the originals on their heads.  This is music that you can’t get anywhere else, that has something to say, that is unique and exciting while still feeling familiar – like a friend finishing your sentences when you run out of words.

Despite falling somewhere under the umbrella of Alternative Metal, Night’s Edge’s sound is hard to pin down.  Incorporating influences from gothic metal, progressive rock, and nu metal, the band’s music is equal parts heavy and poppy, soaked in synthesizers and drama.  Lyrics breach topics including isolation, dissociation, and  the romantic, approaching themes common to the human experience from a cerebral angle that complements the band’s emotionally evocative music.

Night’s Edge has performed throughout the Mid-Atlantic from Richmond to Boston at dive bars, festivals, concert halls, record stores, and convention centers – the band has grinded everywhere.  As Baltimore natives, Night’s Edge has thrilled the stage at venues including Soundstage, Angels Rock Bar, and the Ottobar, and has had multiple festival appearances including Shadow Woods, Fang Around, and Party Like its 793.  This is a band that gets on stage and rocks.  There is no standing around, there is no staring at the floor.  This is a f*cking rock band, and the Night’s Edge live show leaves no doubt about that.

We only had a few songs ready at the time of this recording, so we all decided on our best 2 songs. We have been diligently writing and have more than enough material for a full-length record. We are starting to write a 2nd record already. Most songs are demoed. We are hoping to get some help with the costs of recording our first full-length record.” – Lover

About The Album Artwork

The lips are original, our bass player Jacob kept getting kisses from a cutie, so he got her to kiss a Napkin. Aidan then worked some magic on it and the artwork was born. Our friend Alix did a stellar job with designing our logo.

Describe the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

It’s fast, it’s real, and it’s going to kick you in the face! For real though, we used our real life experiences of love, hardship and lust to tell a story, and it just happens to be set to the tune of high energy rock n roll.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Fatal Attraction: It is an energetic rush of sound that captures the ups and downs of being overwhelmed by desire. The lyrics feed this feeling by talking about lust and substance abuse.

2. Bad Love: Lyrically, a tough and mean reality check. A true story of love gone wrong. Aggressive riffs mean solos; the song captures the strain of a mind in love and turmoil.

===================================================

Fun Facts:

1. Both tracks were part of the original 6 demos Aidan had made.

2: We recorded the bed tracks for EP Live off the floor; they are both one full take. Aidan set up our jam space like a studio and did all the recording and mixing/and mastering himself.

3: The lips on the cover are the real lips of a woman who was involved with our bass player.

4: The song “Bad Love” was written about an actual X lover of Hunter

5: The name Lover was coined by “Cale Savy” from Riot City

ABOUT:
Nastyville is an Italian hard rock band formed in 2012 by drummer Danny Boy and guitarist David “Dave Wild,” with the aim of refreshing the rock genre. The first studio album, “Viva Hell-A” (released in 2015), features old-fashioned guitar riffs and the flavor of the best street/glam rock with Lex on vocals, Kruska on bass guitar, and Manuel on guitar. After Lex and Kruska left, the band continued its journey with Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals and Fabian Anderchen on bass guitar, releasing in 2017 their second studio album, “Glam Caramel”. This album, marked by heavier sounds, gave the band the opportunity to open the Italian tour dates for Skid Row, Crashdïet, Enuff Z’Nuff, Adam Bomb, John Corabi, Simon Wright, and many others. “Songs of Threesome”, released in 2022, was their third studio album and featured a new lineup with Christian “Dega” on guitar and Paul “Cannibal” (ex-Thee S.T.P.) on bass guitar.

In 2023, founding member and drummer Danny Boy and bassist Paul left the band and were soon replaced by Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar. After the release of the two singles “Red Black…Or Green?” and “Livin’ in A Mess”, the band with its new lineup consisting of Marco “Mark Lee” on vocals, David “Dave Wild” on guitar, Christian “Dega” on guitar, Christian “Chris Tabeat” on drums and Carlo “The Horv” on bass guitar, worked tirelessly on new studio material. The year 2024 was a very good year when the band played many dates across Italy and abroad. The opening act for Steel Panther in Milan (Alcatraz) deserves special mention. The band spent the last months of the year working on a brand-new album, entering the studio in December to start recording their fourth studio album under the supervision of producer, singer, and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 20, 2025

Out Now! KRATORNAS “Ravaged by Hurakaan” Vinyl (Out May 20th) + Cassette Demo (Out May 30th)

+ New Album “God Of The Tribes” Out August 2025

Today (May 20th) marks the official release of Kratornas‘ highly anticipated black metal “Ravaged by Hurakaan” 7″ vinyl demo out through Grathila Records, plus an accompanying remix cassette that will be out on May 30th. These limited editions serve as the first taste of the forthcoming album “God of the Tribes”, scheduled for release on August 22nd, 2025. Kratornas comments on the album:

“This album isn’t about being ‘advanced’ or ‘innovative’. It’s a return to roots, distilled into something raw and real. I’ve had first-hand experience with this kind of ‘indigenous music’. I was one of the drummers at festivals from fifth grade through my first year of high school. I didn’t copy those rhythms but wrote my own, taking that foundation and fusing it with Kratornas.”

The 7″ vinyl offers a completely exclusive format experience with the demo version of “Ravaged by Hurakaan” on Side A. Side B features the instrumental ‘Drum and Bass’ version, available only on this vinyl pressing. The companion ‘Ravaged by Hurakaan (Remix)’ cassette, featuring DJ Aromaz on the ProTape release, includes four distinct versions of the material. Both the vinyl and the upcoming album were mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity).

Initial response to the new material has been enthusiastic, with early listeners noting the significant evolution in Kratornas‘ sound. Moving away from the hyperfast brutality of earlier releases, “Ravaged by Hurakaan” showcases a more methodical approach focused on atmosphere and tension.

Despite the shift in approach, the creator maintains that Kratornas still delivers powerful energy. If you sit down and really listen with good headphones, it will bring out a different ‘experience’ because the mix is ‘moving and breathing’. Both the vinyl and cassette releases are available in extremely limited quantities through Kratornas‘ bandcamp and select underground distributors. These collectors’ items will not be repressed, making them essential acquisitions for dedicated followers. They are recommended for all fans of black metal.

“I think it’s a good thing that it is a bit darker for music this intense and with so much “action” in the upper midrange – Dan Swano (on mastering God of the Tribes)

“Kratornas has returned and have taken large steps in progression with their musical maelstrom of violence.” – Canadian Assault (2017 – Human Livestock 7″ EP)

“What’s even better is that the music doesn’t just move in the sense that a rocket moves. The songs are more than sheer exultations in the thrill of speed and violence. They also change course. They veer into hammering grooves; they bolt into bursts of blood-pumping thrash riffing; they pulse like some kind of laser weapon being triggered. Yes, the songs are often deranged — when Kratornas is in full grind mode, you can imagine oceans of blood spray ejected from a fire hose and bodies being atomized in a frenzied butchery — but there’s impressive intricacy and dynamism in the songs, as well as jaw-dropping technical skill and manifest blood lust.” – No Clean Singing (2016 – Devoured by Damnation LP)

“If you like chaotic, blasting Black Metal, then this is a good bet.” (2016 – Devoured by Damnation LP)

“This album is intense. From start to finish Kratornas is absolutely relentless and have put together one hell of an album with a whole lot of everything in the mix without sounding repetitive.” – Metal At The Gates (2016 – Devoured by Damnation LP)

“While its – drum and guitar/voice – format might suggest similarities with the Inquisition, in sound terms are two quite distinct entities. Here there is a greater degree of chaos and a greater departure from the traditional scene (second wave of black metal) than the one we can find ourselves in Inquisition. Basically it is what would happen if we join powerviolence with black metal. It is something that impresses, without a doubt, but that may have a tendency to tire. Fortunately this does not happen much here because all the themes end up having healthy dynamics, mainly a healthy rib of primitive death metal ( plus an element to join the party) and mainly a solo guitar taken from the breca that looks like a bouncing diabolite. Awesome and surprising album.” – World of Metal Mag (2016 – Devoured by Damnation LP)

Canada’s AUGURIUM Unleashes Tolkien-Inspired Single “Faith & Death Pt. I.”

+ Show Date Supporting INTO ETERNITY

Unleashing their third studio release “Unearthly Will” in 2023 and 2024 single / video “Morningstar”, Regina, Canada’s symphonic death metal outfit Augurium returns with their first taste of new music in 2025 for fans in the lead up to their opening support for progressive death masters and hometown heroes Into Eternity on May 17th. (details below).

Fans of the band are in for a positive surprise. It’s still the same Augurium they’ve been listening to since Unearthly Will, but this song taps into a more emotional side.

“For us as a band, it represents a sort of new Augurium, still within the same style we’ve been playing since 2021, yet naturally evolving. The goal was to create a dramatic listening experience—almost like the progression of a film. There are highs and lows, emotionally driven sections, movements that depict scenes in a hero’s journey, and crushing, deafening moments. This is the first half of a sonic saga portraying the struggle between opposing forces,” adds guitarist Cejay Carnochan.

Entitled “Faith & Death Pt. I.”, the track is the first chapter of an epic two-part symphonic death metal series. The song is rooted in the mythological hero’s journey, using Tolkien-like storytelling to explore the duality of good and evil, which resonates in its artwork created by Mark Erskine, who also did Augurium‘s Unearthly Will cover art.

“‘Faith and Death Pt. I’ is themed around The Lord of the Rings. Part one speaks to the side of evil. This track was written from the perspective of Mordor’s legions. Moreover, it touches on the eternal struggle of light and dark and how both cannot survive without the other. A shadow cannot exist without the light. Death—the only thing certain for all mortals. If neither side can agree on which god to worship, which philosophy to follow, or what is right and wrong, one thing is undeniably and indiscriminately certain: death,”

Recommended for fans of Shadow of Intent, Septicflesh, and Mental Cruelty, listen to “Faith & Death Pt. I” at the following links:

“Regina metal band Augurium is on the road to a comeback” – Regina Leader-Post

“One way to think of the Canadian band Augurium‘s new album Unearthly Will is as a tour through a potentially deadly wildlife refuge of arcane and even astral origins. It provides close encounters with a variety of musical beasts, some more extravagantly colorful than others (but still with teeth bared) and some more savagely hostile. By the end you might be relieved that you didn’t become a meal for the menagerie, yet electrified by all the close calls — and by the sweeping splendor.” – No Clean Singing

“Falling just under the half hour mark at 29:48, Unearthly Will is short, sweet, and destructive. I want more now! The Mark Erskine artwork is something I would hang in my room, it fits the material on the record perfectly. Augurium themselves describe the album as a whole as “the culmination of core ideas that remain consistent and brutal yet experimental. It brings a dark musical aspect to lyrical themes of light and inner thought processes”. I would describe it as a harrowing thrill ride that drags you below the surface, with no chance of making your way back up to ground level. This is one that absolutely deserves your attention. 4.5/5” – Toilet Ov Hell

“Unearthly Will features the gamut of influences, including those as disparate as Cannibal Corpse, Decrepit Birth, Septicflesh, Lorna Shore, and Belphegor – which, if my math is right, basically embodies most death metal and its various offshoots in one fell swoop. While the flesh-eating riffs comprise the meat, Augurium features a nice symphonic dimension, while neat blackened portions are offset by a techy rhythmic complexity and tasteful deathcore teeth. Filtered through an organic DIY ethic and aesthetic, Unearthly Will is a mammoth death metal album” – Angry Metal Guy

“Heavy from start to finish, the album intertwines the band’s goals and their inspiration into a cohesive nine track album. While obvious breaks are between songs, Unearthly Will flows seamlessly from track to track, never disrupting one’s listening experience but allowing for an odyssey, perhaps even a death metal revelation. An unmissable offering for death metal fans, Unearthly Will is a mile marker of Augurium’s growth and showcase of visceral talent, guttural vocals, and brutality. Brutality that even aims to make the world a better place.” – Amplify The Noise

“Turning up the head for a skull battering finale, the stage is set for a bombastic title track and Augurium don’t disappoint. “Unearthly Will” keeps things short but oh so sickeningly sweet with driving riffs and pummelling kit work beating the cerebral cortex into submission.” – Metal Noise

“an intense, sinister journey through the depths of death metal, the album is sure to delight genre fans.” – Amplified-Mag

“Their death metal has seen a symphonic makeover, as orchestration reigns over the album (sometimes too much so as it overshadows the rest of the instruments in spots) and its inclusion gives off a grandiose flair.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“All in all one can say that every track on “Unearthly Will” fits very well into the overall construct… there is no boredom and the overall length of 27:16 minutes proves that the dark trip is not long-winded but rather shorter, but all the more intense. The newly adopted, rather epic orchestral approach convinced me that AUGURIUM can implement both straightforward and atmospheric songwriting, I’m very excited to hear what the Canadians will be hearing in the future and I would really like to experience the whole thing live!” – PowerMetal.de

“If you like bombast, “Unearthly Will” is for you.” – Broken Tomb Magazine

“Augurium, the Canadian band thirsty for heavy and guttural riffs, presents their new album “Unearthly Will”” – Territorio Rock

Unleashing their debut EP “Look to the Skies” this past April, Crüzer is not just a band—they are a cosmic metal assault from the Great White North. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Canada, their sound is as unstoppable as an alien invasion force, tearing through the atmosphere with electrifying solos and unforgettable hooks.

With their undeniable stage presence (recently performing at this year’s Hyperspace Metal Festival) and the power of the riff, these melodic cosmic thrashers celebrate the bizarre and otherworldly wonders of the universe. Metalheads can expect a raging, thrashing good time, but with a melodic and humorous twist. Crüzer isn’t afraid to turn trash on its head and infuse the flavour with all kinds of spices and secret sauces.

“EARTHLINGS!!! Crank it to 11, and prepare for an out-of-this-world heavy metal experience. Your alien overlords are pleased to unveil our newest slice of interplanetary propaganda, LOOK TO THE SKIES!

Five tracks of raging, rip-roaring, intergalactic speed metal, with a multitude of different flavours catered to the tastes of every thrasher, from the melodic Metallica nerds to the greasy Slaytanic Wehrmacht. Perfect for cruzing down the interstellar highway or around Saturn’s rings.

CONSUME, EARTHLINGS! LISTEN AND REJOICE!!! BASK IN THE GLORY OF YOUR ALIEN OVERLORDS AND CELEBRATE OUR ARRIVAL!!!” adds the band.

With the EP streaming on all digital platforms as of April 4, 2025, Crüzer plans to release the 5-track record on CD, with the release date to be determined. CD pre-order will be available from the band via their Bandcamp at https://cruzermuzik.bandcamp.com.

“Look to the Skies” is recommended for fans of all things thrash, such as Havok, Exodus (Zetro era), Destruction, Metallica (Ride the Lightning era), Exciter, and 80s Judas Priest.

Progressive Death SYMBIOTIC GROWTH Unleashes New Lyric Video “Lost in Fractured Reveries”

New Album “Beyond The Sleepless Aether” Out Now!

Limited Edition CD available from Bolverk Collective

Mixed and Mastered by Tom MacLean (Haken, Athemon, Brutta)

Canadian progressive blackened death unit Symbiotic Growth has unleashed their latest lyric video, “Lost in Fractured Reveries,” in support of their sophomore album “Beyond The Sleepless Aether,” released digitally on March 28th, 2025, and available on limited edition CD from Bolverk Collective.

Similar to the band’s predecessor, their 2020 self-titled full-length, “Beyond The Sleepless Aether,” is once again based in fiction and is lyrically conceptual, but dives more into thoughts and emotions of everyday life, and sometimes those thoughts are hard to deal with. It’s progressive, experimental, foreboding, and emotional; every song has its own identity and place within the album’s story, taking its protagonist through the multiverse, placing him in places like dark wooded forests, wide open desert landscapes, and the unending cosmos.

The band comments on the track “Lost In Fractured Reveries”:

“The song is about the last stop through the protagonist’s journey on the proggiest song on the album. He finds himself floating within the cosmos, seeing all of time and every universe being woven together like a web, contemplating his entire existence, whether he ever even mattered in any time or in any universe. The jumping time signatures and tempo changes lend a hand to the uncertainty that feels within the song.”

Watch and listen to the lyric video at https://youtu.be/mrfCcx7U4Fk

Mixed and mastered by Tom MacLean (Twelve Tone Studio, Haken, Athemon, Brutta), “Beyond The Sleepless Aether” features seven paryalzing sounds of technical metal created by the Sudbury, ON recording line up of Aaron Barriault (Vocals, Guitar, Bass), Devin McQueen (Vocals, Guitar), and Dan Favot (Drums)(ex-Wolven Ancestry, ex-Fractal Generator).

“I think the fans who have heard our previous album may be a bit surprised; the sound of this album is a bit different; it’s a little bit more experimental in its way. Either way, we hope that fans enjoy what we’ve created. I feel like the listener may have feelings of uneasiness and wonder. An odd combination, but I feel like it’s fitting,” adds Aaron Barriault – Vocals, Guitar, Bass.

“Beyond The Sleepless Aether” is recommended for fans of Ne Oblivisacaris, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Cor Scorpii, and Gojira.

“Beyond The Sleepless Aether is heavy as a herd of elephants wearing armour, jumping up and down on your head for the rest of time. It is utterly relentless, yet interspersed with moments of such musical beauty that your soul will ache to the point of breaking. I cannot praise this album highly enough as it is fucking perfect in every single way, and if you have ever taken anything I have ever written to heart then know this. You… yes, you reading this… you need this fucking album in your life in the way that you need breathing. 5/5” – Black Metal Archive

“There are an immense number of individual components that deserve special attention on “Beyond The Sleepless Aether. The rhythm work is exemplary, the stubborn use of background keys in the context of a mostly dissonant sound sets standards, the vocals are one of the absolute pieces of jewelry anyway, and what is ultimately ignited in the lead guitars is no longer from this world: soulful playing, virtuoso descents, crunchy sawing. Everything that could contribute to the mutual mood is really taken into account here, of course also at a technically brilliant level. 10/10 ” PowerMetal.de

“this record (Beyond The Sleepless Aether) is a delight to listen to, and an early contender in what is traditionally one of the most competitive metal niches out there.” – Metal Storm

“Canada’s Symbiotic Growth came in clutch with their fantastic new record Beyond the Sleepless Aether. Enslaved are an immediate touchstone—so much so that I’m sure the main riff to “Spires Of The Boundless Sunset” sounds like a specific latter-day song of theirs that i can’t quite place. As the album develops, however, Ne Obliviscaris become a more obvious point of comparison, with the songs expanding into ever more extravagant and elongated arrangements as the album goes on. As with NeO, the longer, postier passages do drag on a bit, but there’s always a pummeling riff or cathartic melody waiting around the corner to bring the energy back up again, and the band is granted an extra tech-death tinge, thanks to the ferocious efforts drummer Dan Favot of Fractal Generator” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“Glimmers of brilliance, particularly in the epics and performances, shine through across the record, untouched by occasional patches of off cleans and songs that stick to their guns a little too tightly. As a result, Symbiotic Growth have made a fine record, and one that shows an incredible amount of maturity and growth from their debut. In just a few years, they’ve leveled themselves up a considerable amount, and perhaps the symbiotic relationship between this reviewer and these musicians will help their growth into something special.” – The Progressive Subway

“a solid and high quality example of extreme progressive metal that deserves attention” – Progressor

“Prog death, with a little atmosphere, a smidge of black metal, longer tracks, pretty complex and yeah brutal too.” – WORT 89.9 FM The Mosh Pit (Madison, WI)

“Canada is always that country that always gives us some unexpected gems of extreme music. Symbiotic Growth is the latest revelation. This debut album brings us a fantastic balance between the extreme aspect of death metal and progressive metal.” – World Of Metal Magazine

“Symbiotic Growth‘s songs are significant hybrids, but their incorporation of differing influences works very well because they’re such adept songwriters and skilled performers.” – No Clean Singing
