Fell Harvest is excited to release their second album “Pale Light In A Dying World” and ahead of that, offer “Thy Barren Fields” as a second sample of what’s to come via its premiere on TheObelisk HERE.
The single is the second track on the album and the only one that was not written in its entirety by bassist/vocalist Joseph Fell. Some of the inspiration for the lyrics in the track comes from a poem Fell wrote, which shares its title with the band’s name. Guitarist Liam Duncan wrote a part for the song, which Fell built the rest of the piece around. Fell explains the track in further detail:
“I think it proved to be the strongest and most complex song on the record and I’m hopeful that future songs will have more contributions from Liam and Angel. For a long time, I have put rails around my writing. I would write a riff that I loved but shelve it because it wasn’t what I imagined the band I was in at the time to be. I made a conscious effort not to do that with this record. Any the idea was on the table as long as it was good and could flow with the rest of the material.”
Fell continues to explain that this is likely his favorite song on the album and the one he is most proud of. It encompasses a broad scope of influences while never feeling like it’s reaching or forcing anything. Listeners should be able to connect to this song, with its progressive elements alongside very straight forward doom and death metal tropes, vocal styles and lyrical concepts.
Suitable for fans of slow-paced and sorrowful doom, Fell Harvest is recommended for listeners of Opeth, My Dying Bride, and Agalloch.

Fell Harvest, doom metal from Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA, strives to weave a tapestry of melody, despair, and longing to chronicle the last lights of a dying world.
Fell Harvest grew out of a former project of Joseph Fell (bass/vocals); which found its completed form as a trio with the additions of Angel Enkeli (drums) and Liam Duncan (guitars). The name Fell Harvest came from a dream Fell had where he was walking through a deserted vineyard with every vine bearing bleached bones and rotting flesh. He woke up and wrote a short poem called “The Fell Harvest” about the images and feelings.
Probably the most unique aspect of their live sound is rooted in the fact they are a trio. It’s somewhat rare these days to see a three-piece band in extreme metal, and even more rare to see one that is as melodically driven as Fell Harvest. Fans can hear parallels to bands like Paradise Lost and Rotting Christ, but more careful listeners can hear nods to Venom and King’s X as well.
The band debuted a self-titled EP in 2020 and is following it up with “Pale Light In A Dying World” out on July 16, 2021.

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Lucas Barbosa for the release of his studio project Terra and its debut album “Hypercube”.
Terra is a musical, audiovisual and artistic experience that translates the personality and experiences of Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Lucas Barbosa, resulting in a musical journey for those who love music and adventure.
“The idea of Terra was always there, I believe. I have been composing and writing songs since I was 15. I needed a platform to structure and back these songs. This platform should allow me to combine some passions of mine: folk and metal music, traveling and photography. When I was around 20, I came up with the concept of TERRA, a project that would combine all the influences that made the musician and the person I am, in an organic manner, which would allow me to tell my stories of discoveries and exploration, including my experiences traveling through Brazil and throughout the world. It took about 10 years to actually find the environment and opportunity to bring this idea to life by recording Hypercube and kick-starting this journey.” comments Barbosa.
Terra’s first record is the outcome of the combination of elements put together to tell a story of a journey of growth and self-discovery, that frankly, could be the tale of every human being at some point in their lives. There are ten songs to paint a picture of the artist’s personality and explore each step of the way with the respective deserved depth. Although heavy metal is the glue that unites all the musical nuances presented on this album, “Hypercube” does not shy away from a rich range of influences such as American Bluegrass, Country Music, Classic Rock, Classical Music, Western Folk, traditional Brazilian, Caipira and Sertanejo music along with passages of Samba, Capoeira, Bossa Nova and many others to convey its message. Lucas Barbosa was responsible for playing almost all instruments, including rhythm and lead guitars in all their forms (electric, classical, 6 string, 12 string), bass, Brazilian guitar (or Viola Caipira), Andean guitar (or Charango), Pan flute (Andean flute), Thai bong, harmonica, castanets, moringa, whistle, piano and percussions, in addition to singing all the songs.
Terra‘s debut album“Hypercube” is due out November 2021.
The first single will be released on July 27th.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:
1. The working title of the album before it came together was “Symphony of Savagery” which was a play off of the juxtaposition of aggressive metal music with sophisticated orchestration. After the album took form, Ravenous struggled to come up with an appropriate title for this album for months. When they realized that each song had underlying themes of Hubris, arrogance, and personal actions leading to one’s downfall… they realized the title had been there all along
2. Ravenous had custom live outfits created for them in 2019 by Kim Dylla from Kylla Custom Rockwear (Abbath, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Candlemass, Carcass, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, it’s a long list…) , only to get to use them a small handful of times before the world shut down amidst the COVID-19 pandemic! They should see the stage again soon..
3. Ravenous’ photo shoot for this album was interrupted by a grizzly bear! They scared it away by yelling THE CLAW IS THE LAW!
4. Robert Kukla was editing the vocals for this album at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Fredrik Nordstrom heard the songs and reached out to Ravenous to hire him to mix and master the album, Quoted saying “this is the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard… I HAVE to mix this!”.
5. Nearly the entire ‘Hubris’ album – along with a handful of unused tracks – was written in approximately 2 weeks by Rav and Jake at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown in March and April 2019, and then further refined and augmented over the following months. The dark atmosphere, tension, and aggressive nature of many of the songs have to do with the uncertainty and anxiety they were feeling at the time.

Ravenous was forged in the spring of 2016 in Calgary, Canada as the brainchild of vocalist R.A.V, known for his exploits leading Edmonton-based satirical terrorist Metal band Villainizer. Ravenous also started with members of other established Western Canadian metal bands: Viathyn, Scythia, and Black Pestilence. Influences ranging from Thrash, Power, Black, and Progressive metal came together to deliver heroic Heavy Metal anthems in the style of Manowar, Sabaton, Iced Earth, and Running Wild.
Rife with soaring vocals, thundering percussion, and shredding solos, the ‘Eternal Hunger’ EP, recorded and self-produced by Ravenous in December 2016, was released in January 2017 and featured just a taste of what was to come.
In 2018, together with founding guitarist Jake Wright (Viathyn) and bassist Chris Valax (Black Pestilence), Ravenous recruited drummer Dave Crnkovic (Viathyn) and guitarist Skyler Mills (W.M.D). This lineup would go on to play several shows, including the debut of the Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver as well as dates with video game metal band Powerglove.
In preparation for their upcoming full-length album ‘Eat the Fallen’, Ravenous released a music video for ‘Conquering the Sun’ – dedicated to the 70,000 Tons of Metal festival, featuring the festival’s staff and fans.
After a successful pre-order campaign reaching their $5,000 presale goal, Ravenous signed to Feast Beast Records and set out to release ‘Eat the Fallen’ on April 26, 2019. Combining their various influences across the gamut of Metal, they coined a new term for their music – Metallum Heroica Celeritas, Heroic Speed Metal.
The album was engineered by frontman R.A.V, mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow at Perfect Filth Studios, and features orchestration from Jon Phipps (OrchestralMetal.com), guest solos from Charlie Parra del Riego (Solo, Difonia, M.A.S.A.C.R.E., Ex-Kobra and the Lotus), Tim Brown (Striker, Ex-Kobra and the Lotus), and samples by former drummer James “Little V” Mills.
Ravenous announced several Western-Canadian shows in support of the new album which including Alestorm on select Canadian tour dates and performance on Hyperspace Metal Festival in Vancouver.
Now in 2021, Ravenous is set to bring out another heavy music feast with their next full-length entitled “Hubris” due out October 2021 via Feast Beast Records for North America and Europe along with a Japanese release via Spiritual Beast Records, which will include two exclusive tracks.
“When we formed we were originally looking to make fun, simple, fist-pumping songs that a crowd could sing along with. After touring for the Eat the Fallen record in 2019 and playing some great shows across Western Canada, we started thinking about the direction we were going to take our second album. When the Pandemic hit and the world shut down, the songs started to flow out organically in a darker tone than they had previously. We wanted to maintain the catchiness and simplicity that we had focused on in the early days, but tighten up the writing, performances, and editing so that we could put out something professional and punchy. We were meticulous and anal when it came to how everything was done, and the fantastic production job by Fredrik Nordstrom really showcases everything we set out to achieve. We recruited several of our friends (and one long-time vocal idol!) to contribute guest vocals and instrumentation to fill out the album with the appropriate amount of atmosphere and variation.” – Ravenous
