Snakeblade Unleashes Atmospherically Dark And Sonically Sophisticated “Harvester” Off “The Curse”

Track Premiere via ThisIsBlackMetal

New Album “The Curse” Out October 13, 2021

Canadian one-man project Snakeblade is releasing a new album “The Curse” and the final single before it officially drops is “Harvester”. The project was started to alleviate the stress that came with the pandemic and has already released an album in 2020 entitled “The Kingdom”. The newest album is quite a big departure from the sound established in the first full-length, and listeners can expect a more robust, mature sound that is rounded out by the addition of a session drummer taking up the kit. The name behind it all, Mike Redston explains the new single:

“Harvester is one of my heaviest tracks ever. There’s no bullshit, no diddly-daddling around. It’s a straight-up ‘fuck you’ of a song. The song’s lyrics are completely raw and unfiltered. Looking back on it now, I see a whole lot of rage and anger in this thing. And that’s really the essence of what The Curse is all about.”

Songs on “The Curse” were written shortly after “The Kingdom”, but worked on and stewed over for much longer. There was lots of experimentation and re-writing. It was a tedious, pain-staking project, but according to Redston, it paid off. It is a concept album of sorts revolving around one of Redston’s all-time favorite fantasy series: Game of Thrones.

Each of the ten tracks is a release of nerd energy with hints of personal experiences; some of the plotlines explored include The Red Woman, Stannis Baratheon, and The Lord of Light religion.

The “One-Man Nerdy’n’Dirty” black metal is recommended for fans of Dissection, Slayer, and Skeletonwitch.

The single “Harvester” can be heard via its premiere on ThisIsBlackMetal‘s YouTube channel – https://youtu.be/mc8yTaL5ZVI

The album “The Curse” will be available on October 13, 2021.

About:
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Snakeblade was formed by Mike Redston as an escapist project while the entire world was quarantined. What came out of this anxious time may surprise you though, as Snakeblade refuses to follow typical one-man black metal trends. Every song on their debut album The Kingdom explodes with energy and youthful rage, delivering a pummelling of riffs, blastbeats, and shrieking vocals. With lyrical topics of fantasy, medieval battles, lord of the rings, and video games, Snakeblade is a headbanging nerd’s wet dream. Now on their second effort, the one-man project delves into bold new territory adding orchestral and electro elements to the blackened thrashy chaos that is: The Curse.

Discography:

2021 – The Curse

“intense shrieks, murderous riffs, and all the fantasy black metal you need!” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“This new song (The Red Mage’s Seduction) is a wild but multi-faceted thrill-ride. A burst of jolting riffage launches the track, and as it grows more feverish it provokes a long, throat-ruining scream. The drums (performed by session drummer Dennis Kraakman) hammer and spit like machine guns as the bass bubbles and the guitar writhes in flames. There are chilling moments when slashing chords, slithering arpeggios, and flickering spectral solos sound like magic spells cast in sound by a viciously demented sorceror and the vocals descend into monstrous croaking growls, only to have the song erupt again in chaotic incendiary gales.
The song’s feeling of magical mystery and ominous peril emerges again and rises to towering heights, elevated by grand synths and gigantic booms. Once there, an extravagant extended guitar solo lights the listener’s nerve endings on fire without relinquishing the music’s aura of sorcery run amok. The song slashes and burns again, with the elaborate layering of guitars, tumultuous percussion, and slaughtering screams creating an ecstatic finale.” – No Clean Singing

“This one man black metal project from Canada, spearheaded by Mike Redston, wastes no time in pushing the pedal to the metal and letting it all go. No, seriously; the very first track on his new album, The Kingdom, has an insanely flamboyant and satisfying guitar solo, breakneck drums, and vocal shrieks aplenty.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“Snakeblade Goes Beyond Black Metal Trappings on ‘The Kingdom'” – Exclaim!

“It’s safe to say that Snakeblade’s musical genius will quickly outgrow Redston’s one-man credo, for other musicians will surely seek out his vision. That he has crafted such venomous metal that is still wildly entertaining during this pandemic is a huge accomplishment, and The Kingdom will appeal to fans of this black metal style, particularly followers of Mayhem, Borknagar and classic Slayer.” – Exclaim!

“This is absolutely my jam, and The Kingdom is one of my favorite albums of the year so far.” – Toilet ov Hell

“I am compelled to say that SNAKEBLADE most definitely delivered an utmost maddening, but enjoyably entertaining discovery that made me replay this …pretty much all day long. “The Kingdom” is an addicting spin that will blow brains & shatter windows with explosive clarity. Full of density, technical prowess & engaging captivation. This is an incredibly amazing debut album, and I will most look forward to their upcoming projects. And for a singular writing attempt, bravo! I couldn’t help but score this as a masterful piece of other-worldly malevolence which most certainly deserves a slot in your collection for sure. Check it out!” – Metal Temple

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 8, 2021

For fans of Dream Theater, Pagan’s Mind, Sons of Apollo, Haken, Symphony X, King’s X

Rockshots Records – VENUS SYNDROME New Music Video “Sun Inside Me”

New Album “Cannibal Star” Due Out October 22, 2021

Venus Syndrome will be releasing their sophomore album “Cannibal Star” on October 22nd, via Rockshots Records.

In preview to its release, the progressive metal group is sharing their second single “Sun Inside Me” with a new music video, which can be viewed at the following link – https://youtu.be/lfvxNoW15M0 along with Spotify for playlist add – https://spoti.fi/3a00DUx

“This tune is very original for Venus Syndrome with low vocals and a very groovy chorus, the starting riff is very powerful, a space musical break, and a truly inspired guitar solo. It’s a philosophical song and at the same time quite raw which speaks of passionate people…,” adds the band.

Formed originally as a Dream Theater cover band under the moniker MetroTheater, it wasn’t too soon after that drummer Thibaud Pontet (Eternal Flight), guitarist Ayman Mokdad (Alien Encounters), keyboardist Rodolfo Lima Sproesser (Goiana, Tahra, Heretic, Floyd Rose cover Pink Floyd), bassist Florian Guidat and vocalist Emmanuelson (Ellipsis, Rising Steel, Hydroflame) were keen to create something more.

It came under the suggestion of main composer and guitarist Ayman Mokdad to the rest of the band that he had written original material inspired by the concept of the “Venus Syndrome”, in which the Earth undergoes runaway warming and the oceans boil off and is viewed as the greatest threat to humanity’s existence (more info here).

From those lyrical and musical ideals, Venus Syndrome offered up their self-titled debut album during April 2020 all while being an international collaboration between musicians on two sides of the globe. Rodolfo Lima Sproesser is based in Brazilian while the rest of the group is in France.

Carefully crafting power melodies, intricate hard rocking rhythms and soaring vocals inspired by the likes of Russell Allen (Symphony X), Warrel Dane (Nevermore) and Ray Adler (Fates Warning), the band is ready to introduce their next recording and the sophomore full-length “Cannibal Star”.

Recruiting Simone Mularoni (Domination Studio, Ultra-Violence, T/L Rhapsody, Eternal Idol, Eldritch, Elvenking) for mixing and mastering, the new album is a more mature production compared to their self-recorded effort. On “Cannibal Star”, Venus Syndrome showcases eleven tracks for fans to not just enjoy its melodic progressive metal groove, but also go beyond the listening experience and understand the message behind their music.

“Humanity will disappear if each one of us, each individual do not contribute to safeguarding it. Art, and particularly music is a healer and can help us reach the target and build something strong for our kids and their kids hopefully.” says guitarist and composer Ayman Mokdad.

The band decided on the tracks not just on record, but how they would be best performed for a memorable live experience and the importance of its messaging for saving our planet and humanity.

“There’s an amazing live show that goes with these songs, that’s why there is an instrumental ouverture, an instrumental interlude, and an ending part on the song “Contaminate Me” that we can play with the audience for several minutes. They can expect all the energy and power of the universe. We want them to sing our songs long after the show.”

Montreal, QC – October 8, 2021

Rockshots Records: Out Now! Italian Symphonic Metal ETERNAL SILENCE New Album “Timegate Anathema”

New Music Video “Edge of The Dream”

Italian symphonic metallers Eternal Silence‘s new album “Timegate Anathema” is now available as Friday, October 8, 2021 via Rockhots Records. Recorded at The Groove Factory (Udine, Italy) and Line/Out Studio (Milano, Italy) with mixing and mastering by Michele Guaitoli (Visions of Atlantis, Temperance, Kaledon), the full length will feature ten tracks of symphonic and power prog metal plus will see the band introduce new elements and experimentation into their sound. The album goes from power metal songs like “The Way Of Time” and “My Soul Sad Until Death” to heavy and dark ones like “Rain and Red Death Masquerade”, passing through the catchy melodies of tracks like “Glide In The Air” and acoustic moments on “Lonely and Firefly”. The main theme that inspired the record is the concept of time.

For the album’s release day, Eternal Silence is sharing the new music video for their single “Edge of the Dream“, a powerful song, with heavy riffing and a strong orchestral section. The alternation between female and male vocals designs a catchy melody together with the inserts of the choir.

“Since the very beginning this song was there, and it looked like it was always there. Alberto wrote it in the initial stages of the preparation of the album, but it wasn’t immediately chosen to be part of this work. Marika took part in writing the lyrics and we struggled a lot to find a good solution for the chorus. Everything fell in the right place when we were recording in studio and with Michele Guaitoli we had the idea of a choral part in the chorus, used as a counterpoint to the main voice. The result was one of the most epic songs we’ve ever written.” adds the band.

The new video is also the first official appearance of the new official band members: Martino Boneschi (guitars), replacing Enzo Criscuolo, and Katija Di Giulio (violin).

Formed in Varese, Italy in 2008, Eternal Silence combines powerful guitar riffs, a thunderous rhythmic section, catchy melodies, and bombastic orchestral tracks with the support of two vocalists, Marika Vanni and guitarist Alberto Cassina sharing the front stage. The band’s current line-up is completed by Alessio Sessa (bass), Andrea Zannin (drums) and Enzo Criscuolo (guitarist).

Since their formation, the band has unleashed three albums and two EPs. 2020’s “Renegades” (EP), 2018’s “Metamorphosis” (EP), and 2017’s “Mastermind Tyranny” were released on Sliptrick Records, and their earlier full-lengths “Raw Poetry” (2013) and “Chasing Chimera” (2015) were released on Underground Symphony Records.

Over the years, the band has been a consistent touring presence in Europe, performing in Germany, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, and Hungary along with being support for bands such as Temperance, Therion, Haggard, Sound Storm, Blackoustic (Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) and Jani Liimatainen (Insomnium)).

Out Now! Canadian Cinematic Post / Prog Rock In Solastalgia, EitherWay Debut EP “Morii”

Montreal, Canada’s In Solastalgia, EitherWay releases the debut EP “Morii”, out now as of Friday, October 8th.

The EP is a visual and instrumental post / progressive rock experience created from the mind of Jean Philippe Hébert. The six-song recording’s goal is to merge together a post-apocalyptic screenshot of a non-utopic universe within its 29-minute atmospheric journey.

“I’m is trying to create a complex, visual listening experience, like a short movie or a trip, in which the music itself changes intensity, emotions and comes in waves, there is a playful side that works with a nostalgic side,” explains Hébert.

Heavily influenced by film scores, In Solastalgia, EitherWay will likely continue further down this path, becoming more and more complex, with bigger arrangements and more instrumentation, when Hébert attends film school.

Stating that he is a rather shy person, it took him some time to get In Solastalgia, EitherWay off the ground. About a year ago, he started showing his music and received enough positive feedback that it encouraged him to go ahead with this project. He also became fascinated by the idea of Solastalgia and the effect that environmental change has on our collective mental health.

In Solastalgia, EitherWay is recommended for fans of Opeth, GodSpeed! You Black Emperor, Russian Circles and Mogwai.

About:
Jean Philippe Hébert is an academically trained guitarist. Originally from Québec City, JP was educated at Notre-Dame-De-Foy campus, a private college in the outskirts of Quebec capital.  He grew up surrounded by nature with one brother and two parents in the medical field.

As a young boy, JP would admire a guitar that had been hung on the wall of his house for ages, until he found the courage to ask for the instrument and some lessons. As a teenager, JP played a lot, concentrating his efforts towards a heavy style of music, until he started college and began studying classical and jazz. He is also a multi-instrumentalist; playing not only guitar but piano, drums and bass as well as banjo, mandolin and other specialized guitars.

His musical abilities landed him many gigs with prominent local Quebec City acts like Elliot Maginot, Lisa Leblanc and Les Soeurs Boulay to name a few. For over a decade now he has been lead guitarist on many of these projects both in-studio and live settings.

He is currently working on a solo project “In Solastalgia EitherWay”, which is the fruit of many years of work; it was built around the philosopher Glenn Albrecht idea that describes a form of emotional or existential distress caused by environmental change. This project combines JP’s love for nature and music. His influences vary from Godspeed You! Black Emperor to Goat and to heavier things like Opeth. You can hear all these worlds colliding in his music, somehow perfectly placed in chaos.

The goal is to have a 6 song EP entitled “MORII” recorded by 2021 that will then be followed by a series of concerts. The concerts themselves will be worked on as moving portraits, as he will work closely on visuals with videographers. This project is both musical and visual.

The latest release for New England metalcore act Fathom Farewell is the lyric video for the fourth single “Nameless City” off their upcoming EP “Kraken”. The band took their favorite five tracks from a pool of demos that would cohesively work together to come up with the new record and have high expectations for its reception as they explain:

“Well, we’ve had the great fortune to perform the new stuff a few times for a live audience and let’s just say they never went even half this hard for the old material. I’ve never been more confident in any musical release I’ve been a part of in my almost 2 decades playing music. They’re gonna love it as much as we do.”

The single “Nameless City” was entirely inspired by an HP Lovecraft short story of the same name.  This story focuses on a lone explorer traversing the ruins of an ancient city with no name. The farther he dives into the city, the more devious it seems, growing narrower, and damper, and darker until the explorer notices large reptiles emerging from the darkness while the light dies. The story’s imagery and environment description comes alive with heavy breakdowns and intense vocals.

The writing process for Fathom Farewell is very simple and streamlined. Vocalist Alex Cohen writes all lyrics; guitarist Steve Almon wrote the instrumentals for this past EP, presented it to the band and they laid everything down seamlessly. Moving forward, new guitarist James Frost, bassist Dustin Black, guitarist Chantz Mello and drummer Casey Albiero will be contributing instrumentals. In order to alleviate pressure, they stay far ahead of each release in terms of writing. Lyrical inspiration comes from Cohen’s environment, things that concern or inspire him to speak out on certain subjects whether it be mental health or oppression or even just a good ol’ concept track like this single.

Those looking for a new take on metalcore should find Fathom Farewell of interest, especially those with an interest in August Burns Red, Coheed & Cambria, and System of a Down.

“Kraken” will be out on October 22, 2021 via Blood Blast Distribution.

About:
Fathom Farewell brings depth to the rock/metal genre beyond the confines of its articulate instrumentation and vocal presence. Addressing topics from humanity and its relationships to the grave consequences human nature causes our world, frontman Alex Cohen demands through his delivery that each listener lend a close ear and a willingness toward self-reflection.  This fiery passion results in a refined rock act with the potential to be the voice of change, but with the live thrill and precision of a modern heavy metal act. In conjunction with exceptional work ethic and persistence, it’s no wonder the band has swiftly made a name for itself throughout New England, having earned the opportunities to support Sevendust’s 20th-anniversary tour, along with area dates with Issues, The Devil Wears Prada, Volumes, I Prevail, Currents, and many more.  The band has also performed four times at the Vans Warped Tour in MA since forming in 2014, three times at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, and made appearances at Rock and Shock Festival. Following the release of the 2019 “Consume The Earth” EP, the band has accrued over 100k streams across Spotify and Apple Music.  Bolstered by recent additions to the newly completed lineup and with upcoming new material produced by Chris Piquette (Trophy Wives/Riviera), with assistance from Extreme Management Group, Fathom Farewell aims to support this release with vigorous touring and marketing in hopes of carrying awareness of its message to the rest of its home country and eventually to the world, as all of “this planet is our home”.

Now with three EPs under their belt over four years “Consume The Earth” (2019), “Decomposition” (2017), Drowning Limits (2015), the band is ready to present their next EP entitled “Kraken” on October 22nd, 2021 via Blood Blast Distribution.

What the press is saying:

“New England melodic metalcore band Fathom Farewell have been around longer than you think, with a handful of EPs to their name since their 2015 debut EP. The band have supported bands like Sevendust and The Devil Wears Prada in the past, just to name a few, and their upcoming Kraken EP contains some of their best material to date.”- New Fury Media

“The immediate impact and versatile clean to scream ability from vocalist Alex Cohen pushes Fathom Farewell out above the hordes – the man has some serious pipes ready for the challenge, forceful and commanding while confidently holding out key notes during the verses and choruses to make “Six Feet Beneath” and “Wide Awake” instant appealers.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The Boston quartet have emerged from within the melodic metalcore scene but as the six tracks within their latest offering shows, their sound is a far more adventurous and varied blend of metal and melodic rock enterprise.” – The Ringmaster Review

“Holy vocals! Worcester based Fathom Farewell have just released “Consume the Earth”, and it’s blowing our minds…  Palpably driven, passionate, and sharing messages close to their heart, “Consume the Earth” is an impressive invitation to listen to Fathom Farewell.” – Depth Magazine

“Fathom Farewell: One of the fastest rising stars” – Permafrost Today

“Featuring six tracks of high-energy and emotionally-driven modern hard rock/metal, the EP shows why Fathom Farewell are one of the fastest rising stars in the melodic metalcore scene.” – Moshville Times
