Fall of Stasis from Montreal, Canada will have a new album out on February 25th, which is being premiered over on Bravewords. “The Chronophagist” is the first release from the band since their demo in 2017 and it shows maturity, a wide arrangement of influences, and a high level of precision and dedication that the band prides itself on. The result is a relentless, fast, aggressive yet melodic, and symphonic opus with a different vibe and story for every track. Overall, each song blends well into the next one, yet they’re different enough to keep the listener involved for the duration of the album.

The black metal, symphonic, and folk interludes, along with proggy riffs all intertwine in a brutal yet unpredictable melodic composition that will unapologetically grab the listener’s attention from start to finish, and that will appeal to most metal enthusiasts. The band comments on the album:

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally release our first album. Our lineup has changed a lot throughout the years for various reasons, but we managed to find a strong lineup composed of talented and dedicated musicians. Consequently, many of our songs have improved thanks to the new members’ creative input. We definitely didn’t rush things as we firmly believe that nothing should compromise the quality of our songwriting.”

The album clocks in at 50 minutes, across ten songs each on a narrative journey into fictitious storytelling with nods to personal experiences. It was produced, mixed, and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy), and the album artwork was done by Roberto Napolitano.

Symphonic and unpredictable with a little bit of something for everyone, Fall of Stasis is recommended for fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, Unexpect, and Ne Obliviscaris.

“The Chronophagist” is streaming now on Bravewords HERE and is officially being released on February 25, 2022.

About:
Fall Of Stasis, based in Montreal, Canada, was originally formed in 2014 with the intention of creating original music that couldn’t be defined by a specific genre. They started off with a very eclectic and progressive style, and as time went on, it was toned down in favour of musical cohesion and they added symphonic arrangements.

In 2017, the band released their demo and will be following it up in 2022 with the full-length “The Chronophagist”, which maneuvers closer to black metal but with definitive prog-heavy stylings. Working together on everything, there isn’t a single song where the creative input from a band member has not been blended into the mix. Fall of Stasis firmly believes that creative collaboration is one of their main strengths.

The current lineup of Fall of Stasis consists of Jessica Dupré (vocals), Gabriel Bernier (lead guitar/backing vocals), Tristan Bergeron-Boucher (rhythm guitar), Mathieu Groulx (bass), Sergei Lecours (drums) and Mélissa Bissonnette (keyboard). Each of the musicians brings a wide array of influences which results in a distinct sound, which caters to folk, black, progressive and death metal fans alike, but also to the uninitiated, thanks to their original and catchy melodies.

Symphonic yet brutal and often unpredictable, they present a mix of very powerful growls and clean vocals, along with good stage presence, efficient crowd work and tight musicianship. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many notable local and international bands such as The Agonist, Wolfheart and Beyond Creation.

The next page in Washington, D.C.’s Day of Departure’s sci-fi story that is presented in their upcoming self-titled debut sees civilization being eliminated. “Ex Machina” is the fifth track on the album, and just as the first portion of the record involves the chaos and destruction of our civilization, this song transitions the listener into the realization that there is a new path forward both musically and with the fate of civilization. The band explains the single:

“This is probably the most straightforward track on the album, yet it still retains the vibe and tone of the overall concept. Unlike the epic nature of the first single ‘…And We Prepare for Our End’, this song will provide fans of hard rock and metal with a welcome addition that is a more digestible offering. The song represents a transition in terms of the entire album story, as well as a transition from the epic onslaught of sonic destruction that is apparent on the first few songs on the LP,.”

For Day of Departure, the writing process is not forced. They did not initially set out to create the overall concept, but it was developed organically once the first couple of songs came together. Even though the foundations of most of the songs were initially developed by guitarist/keyboardist Matt Kozar, who is a comic book/sci-fi fanatic, there was plenty of room for collaboration to get to the final versions of the songs on the album, which reflect his literary influence throughout.

Fans of the Day of Departure members’ other projects, Brave and Stellar Death, will recognize and appreciate the ways in which they have been able to integrate the vast array of sounds and styles throughout this album, but also recognize elements from those other creative outlets. They are recommended for fans of Tool, Hammock and God is an Astronaut.

“Ex Machina” can be heard via its premiere on SonicPerspectives HERE.

The full album release is March 25, 2022 via Bravemusic.

About:

Day of Departure combines elements of post-rock, ambient, progressive rock, and hard rock to arrive at a unique sonic landscape that seeks to balance the varied influences and inspirations from its creators.

Born out of a desire to explore a different musical style that merges their influences with a well-woven narrative, Washington D.C.’s Day of Departure created a story that begins with the destruction of our planet, and then the need to evolve and find a new path forward for survival. They are heavily influenced by a number of different sci-fi stories and comics that echo throughout their music.

Their debut self-titled album is set to be released on March 25, 2022. It was produced and recorded entirely remotely over two years with none of the members working together in person. They currently do not have any plans to play live at the moment, but are looking forward to thinking about how to bring to life the music and vibe that was created on the record.

While writing their debut, several songs didn’t make the cut, yet Day of Departure are already thinking about the next chapter to explore, with some of those songs/ideas being the inspiration or perhaps even the focus of forthcoming music.

Rockshots Records – Gather Your Friends! Let’s Go “Drinking”

Theigns & Thralls Shares First Single Off Self-Titled Debut Album ft. Guests From Korpiklaani, Ensiferum And More!

Album Out April 8th, 2022

Releasing their self-titled debut album this coming April 2022 via Rockshots Records, Theigns & Thralls are sharing their first single “Drinking” with a new music video that will encourage to gather your friends and share some pints!

Band founder Kevin Ridley adds about the track:

“Once I got into the flow of writing and recording the album, things came together quite quickly. Like with this track. When I came across an old poem (by Abraham Cowley) called ‘Drinking’, I thought folk-metal and drinking, what could possibly go wrong? Again, this song has a big chorus and I thought it would be good to ask all the people playing on the album to add some backing vocals and do a little video of themselves recording it so we could make it into a video. This was so successful that I decided to do a different mix of the track for the video. So, you have the ‘Theigns mix’ for the video (which is shorter) and the ‘Thralls mix’ (which is the album version). This mix also contains the ‘drunken guitarist’ intro, which you might witness at gigs. It is a BIG song with lots of players on it, including Emilio (Souto) on guitar, Jonne (Järvelä) on mandolin and Dave (Briggs) on whistle. It’s a bit of a ‘a folk-metal anthem’, hopefully.”

Watch and listen to “Drinking” at https://youtu.be/nr87Qjd1NrU

Theigns & Thralls is the brainchild of Skyclad vocalist and songwriter Kevin Ridley. Originally, it was intended to be an ‘occasional band’ to perform songs from Ridley’s back catalogue of songs from Skyclad and his solo album while working around Skyclad’s touring plans. However, when the 2020 global pandemic struck, his plans changed. Being stuck in lockdown, the project became a collaborative recording project building on a few demo ideas. At first, musician friends were contacted to add a bit of violin here and a whistle there. But then things gathered momentum and friends of friends were also asked and players across Europe joined to contribute. The response was, to say the least, overwhelmingly positive and, in the end, twenty-five musicians from bands such as Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Cruachan, Waylander, Celtibeerian, and Metal De Facto as well as solo musicians (new and old acquaintances of Ridley) contributed everything from drums, bass, guitar, violin, whistles, bagpipes to hurdy-gurdy and vocals.

“I think that because a lot of the album was written and recorded in a fairly short space of time, there is a certain feel and continuity to it. There is a blend of Celtic Speed-Punk, Folk-Metal and Classic Rock influences. Added to that, in terms of lyrical content, there is a strong appreciation of history, literature and humanism that comes together.” adds Ridley.

The name Theigns & Thralls (which basically means masters and servants) was settled on and it was also decided to make an eponymous album so that Theigns & Thralls was the band’s name, the name of the album, and the name of one of the songs. This was to help clarify the band’s ’mission’ or ‘raison d’etre’.

As well as putting out the album and videos, the next phase of the band’s evolution will be to put together a ‘touring band’ when permitted, not only to do what was originally intended, but also to perform the new original songs – perhaps with a few guest artist appearances – and to become a force in their own right.

Recommended for fans of Skyclad, Cruachan, Fiddlers Green, Flogging Molly, and Volbeat, Theigns & Thralls’ self-titled album is due out April 8, 2022 via Rockshots Records.

0 DIRE PERIL Joins 2022 Hyperspace Metal Festival Lineup – April 15-17 – Vancouver, Canada

  • February 22, 2022
  • by Asher
  • · Hyperspace Metal Festival · Music News

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2022

DIRE PERIL Joins 2022 Hyperspace Metal Festival Lineup

April 15 – 17 – Vancouver, BC, Canada

Hyperspace Metal Festival is pleased to announce DIRE PERIL will be joining the 2022 lineup for the third night of the festival on April 17th. The band is replacing Paladin, who unfortunately had to drop off this year’s event.

The American sci-fi power metal duo DIRE PERIL features vocalist John Yelland (Judicator) and Jason Ashcraft whom will now be doing triple-guitar duty as he will also be performing with his other bands Helion Prime and Planeswalker also scheduled on the festival.

“This is nuts! When HMF organizer Joey Hockin first asked if Dire Peril would like to jump on I politely declined as I thought performing and steering three bands would kill me, but immediately I changed my mind and decided I was down for the challenge! Plus this will make up for not doing any heavy gigging since the Helion Prime tour in 2019. I look forward to returning to Canada and Hyperspace!” says Ashcraft.

HMF organizer Joey Hockin also adds:

“Unfortunately due to logistical challenges, Paladin is not able to make it to Hyperspace this year. We hope we’ll get another chance to host them in the future. In their place, we’re excited to welcome Dire Peril back into the lineup! This means Jason Ashcraft will be playing THREE SETS during Hyperspace. Hyperspace is now less than 2 months away and it is time to start getting excited!”

The third edition of HMF was originally announced for April 2020, but postponed due to the Covid pandemic. Now with the return of live events, festival promoter Journeyman Productions shares the rescheduled 2022 lineup to be held in Vancouver, BC from April 15th – 17th at Funky Winker Beans and the Rickshaw Theatre.

The lineup for Canada’s premier melodic and power metal festival will feature 20 bands, some originally announced for the 2020 production along with a few new additions that will perform over three nights with headliners Into Eternity, Witherfall, and Iron Kingdom (full lineup listed below).

Tickets are on sale at eventbrite.ca
18$ CAD pre-sale for a single-day ticket, $25 CAD for a single-day ticket at the door.
50$ CAD for a 3-day festival pass.
Facebook Event here.

Highlights of the confirmed bands include dark melodic heavy metal juggernauts Witherfall from Los Angeles blazing new trails and weaving new tales in support of their latest 2021 album “Curse of Autumn” (Century Media Records), local Vancouver heavy metal heroes Iron Kingdom, who are HMF alumni and make their second appearance on the festival lineup after headlining the inaugural 2018 event. In addition to those bands, two extremely rare performances will be witnessed for Planeswalker (California/Cyprus), a Magic The Gathering inspired power metal duo featuring members of Helion Prime and Dire Peril along with a reunion set from Victoria, BC’s Archon Legion, which features members of Unleash The Archers.

Over the two years that Hyperspace Metal Festival has been running, bands from all over the world have come to play power, prog, and speed metal on the Canadian West Coast. The festival has presented lineups that have included performances by Crimson Shadows, West of Hell, Judicator, Odinfist, Tanagra, Scythia, Greyhawk, The Order of Chaos, Red Cain, and many more.

0 M-Theory Audio – PAGAN METAL WARRIORS HELSOTT UNVEIL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “I’LL MAKE YA FAMOUS”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2022

M-Theory Audio: PAGAN METAL WARRIORS HELSOTT UNVEIL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “I’LL MAKE YA FAMOUS”

Second single from the group’s new record, ‘Will and The Witch; Pre-orders available now

HELSOTT – America’s leading pagan metal band – has unveiled the music video for “I’ll Make Ya Famous,” the new single from their upcoming concept album, “Will and The Witch.” The group’s newest album will be released by M-Theory Audio on Friday, May 20th. Pre-orders for CD, limited-edition double vinyl, and digital editions of “Will and The Witch” are available now at http://smarturl.com/helsott. The video for “I’ll Make Ya Famous” – directed by vocalist Eric Dow – can be viewed at https://youtu.be/Bvj_5Nhs8M0

Says Dow, “’I’ll Make Ya Famous’ is the first song on the album. It is the only song on the album that is not directly related to the story. It is more of a prelude and overall description of Billy The Kid. We shot the music video at Whitehorse Ranch in Landers, California. The Ranch is a movie studio and is 1800’s authentic. This is the first time I have directed a video and we are extremely excited to release what we believe is our best music video to date.”

HELSOTT‘s newest album, “Will and The Witch” – mixed and mastered by J-F Dagenais (Kataklysm, Ex Deo) and featuring artwork by Felipe Machado Franco (Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Gamma Ray), is a concept record that tells a fictional story about how Billy The Kid became the fastest gunfighter in the wild west. The first taste of music from the new album was recently unleashed with a visualizer video for the title track, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/Gok7aEiO1Ys. The band returns to its musical roots on their latest record with heavier thrash overtones and less orchestral work than their prior record, while catching listeners off-guard with new influences befitting of the album’s theme. Thrash metal, power metal, and death metal all converge with acoustic campfire segments, Southern banjo and fiddle, and Native American-inspired hand drums and flutes. The end result is a record that is musically ambitious while remaining melodic, thrashy, and true to the underlying sound of HELSOTT.

Since their formation, the California-based HELSOTT – whose name means “fatal illness” in Old Norse – has paid homage to pagan cultures, mythology, and history while keeping true to their American influences. The group’s unique mix of folk metal, death metal, symphonic metal, thrash, classical and rock was first unveiled to the world with the 2012 release of their debut EP “Fólkvangr.” The band soon caught the attention of audiences on a larger scale during the 2013 Paganfest North American tour, where they performed with Ensiferum, Tyr and Trollfest. That tour set the stage for the 2014 release of “Woven,” which was supported with tours alongside Arkona and Heidevolk.

In the years since the original release of “Woven,” HELSOTT signed with M-Theory Audio, released another EP (2017’s “The Healer”) and a second full-length (2018’s “Slaves and Gods”) and logged many touring miles worldwide with artists including Korpiklaani, I Am Morbid, Necrophagia, Tengger Cavalry, Ashes of Ares, Felix Martin, Arkona, Skyforger and Finsterforst. In addition, the band performed at major European festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Cernunnos Pagan Fest. “Woven” was also remixed, remastered, and re-released by M-Theory Audio in November 2020 in celebration of the group’s 10th anniversary.

This year will not just see the release of HELSOTT‘s new album, “Will and The Witch,” but will also see the band’s return to the live stage. A small number of dates have been confirmed so far, including international appearances at Germany’s Dark Troll Festival 2022 and England’s HRH Vikings 2022, with more to come throughout 2022.

More information on HELSOTT‘s new album, “Will and The Witch,” will be revealed in the weeks to come by M-Theory Audio and at www.facebook.com/helsott.

0 Rockshots Records – Italian Symphonic Folk Metal AEXYLIUM New Lyric Video “Spirit Of The North” + Announce New Drummer & Guitarist

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2022

Rockshots Records – Italian Symphonic Folk Metal AEXYLIUM New Lyric Video “Spirit Of The North”

+ Announce New Drummer & Guitarist

New Album “The Fifth Season” Out Now!

Italian symphonic folk metallers Aexylium are pleased to announce two new additions to their lineup, drummer Alberto Mezzanotte and guitarist Thalia Bellazecca (both ex-Frozen Crown). The two musicians have significant experience, having toured in Europe and Japan along with sharing the stage with well-known bands such as Elvenking and Dragonforce. Thalia is also officially endorsed by ESP Guitars.

In addition to the lineup news, Aexylium are sharing their latest lyric video “Spirit Of The North” in support of their latest album “The Fifth Season” released this past October via Rockshots Records. Like other songs on the record, “Spirit of The North” is inspired by Norse culture and themes. The vocals are deliberately anthemic as it guides the listener into the last track on the full-length.

Listen at https://youtu.be/d7sOSPr5W9I

Mixing traditional folk instruments (Flute, Violin, Bouzouki) with the modern symphonic metal, Aexylium‘s sophomore full length follows 2018’s “Tales From This Land” (Underground Symphony Records) and their 2016 self-produced EP “The Blind Crow“. “Tales From This Land” has had over 110k streams on Spotify along with its powerful single “Revive the Village’ placing on the top 200 metal song charts in Germany on Apple Music. Aexylium has also released fan-praised covers of Game of Thrones and Vikings main themes with reinterpreted folk metal sounds.

Since their inception in 2014, the Italian band has performed at renowned festivals in Europe such as Dumeltica International Music Festival, Montelago Celtic Festival, Malpaga Folk & Metal, Rock Inn Somma, Druidia and Strigarium along with sharing the stage with Elvenking, Wind Rose, Nervosa, Furor Gallico, Temperance and more. In August 2020, despite Covid restrictions, Aexylium was chosen by the city of Milan to perform at the historical Castello Sforzesco.

Their new album “The Fifth Season” is a concrete step towards growth and musical maturity with its offering of festive ballads, tighter riffs, advanced orchestrations and heavier dark songs that are all inspired by Norse Mythology. The record also features guest vocals from Samuele Faulisi (Atlas Pain), Arianna Bellinaso and the members of Coro Facoltà di Musicologia Vocal Ensemble. The album was recorded at Twilight Studio by Davide Tavecchia with the artwork done by Jan Yrlund of Darkgrove Design (Manowar, Testament, Korpiklaani.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 22, 2022

Saudi Prog DUSK Releases New Single “Origin” ft. Brett Anspach (UltraViolent)

Saudi Arabia’s DUSK is a one-man musical journey from the mind of Meshari Sangora. This past November, he presented his latest EP “To Where I Belong”, a four-track recording of progressive instrumental modern metal featuring guests Madani Zakri and Abdulrahman Elghazali.

Today, in follow up to the sophomore record is his next collaboration with vocalist Brett Anspach of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania band UltraViolent. Lyrics were written by local Riyadh songwriter Mohammed “Doomster” Alkudwah.

The track kicks off with emotional hardcore sentiment to continue into a tour-de-force of guttural vocals to rollercoaster the progressive djenty riffs that emulate feelings of both rage and enlightenment.

DUSK adds about how the track came to be from two musicians on different sides of the world.

“I came across Brett on Fiverr, it’s a service website where people can offer all sorts of things from designing something for YouTube to all the way to work with talented musicians such as Brett. I was looking for a vocalist that would add a certain feel to the mix. Once he sent me the first draft, the initial thing that came to my mind was this guy sounds like Tobias Rische, the lead vocalist for the French band Novelists and I knew that this is what I was looking for. And now after finishing ‘Origin’ we’ve decided to work on more music in the future.”

Beauty And Devastation Lie Within Crown of Madness’ “The Manipulated” Off “The Void” Out March 2022

On a mission to bring beauty into dissonance, the duo of vocalist/guitarist Sunshine Schneider and drummer Connor Gordon formed Crown of Madness over the Covid pandemic. Writing their first EP “The Void”, they are now ready to give listeners a first taste of this forthcoming debut with a lyric video for the single “The Manipulated”.

Having met through World of Warcraft, having a lifelong love for heavy metal and fantasy games as well as citing interests in games such as Dark Souls and Bloodbourne, their music has been greatly influenced by the dark and fantastical. The single “The Manipulated” takes inspiration from the classic movie Donnie Darko, as they explain:

“It was the second song we finished writing, the guitar work had a natural flow that made it easy to put together, however when we came to writing the lyrics it proved to be more difficult. Since Donnie Darko is a favourite between the two of us, we wanted to draw inspiration for the lyrics, rather than have the lyrics be “officially” based on the film. We liked the idea of having a greater purpose achieved by a predetermined path.”

“The Manipulated” has unique interweaving guitar riffs, with chord heavy parts that portray the beauty in their dissonant sound. Crown of Madness stands out from other similar artists, offering a dramatic flair and raw emotion to the world of death metal.

Recommended for fans of SoulsBourne games and bands such as Ulcerate, Vitriol, and Gorguts, “The Void” is devastating and atmospheric.

“The Manipulated” and the lyric video can be seen and heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“The Void” is being released on March 25, 2022.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with ‘UNUS’, the crushing and cinematic follow-up to 2016’s ‘Advent of the Human God’. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; ‘UNUS’ is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON was formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band has carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honour for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac-St-Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honour.

‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high-quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.
