Eaten by Sharks has been lurking in the dark for the past couple of years while the world was locked down, waiting patiently to unleash their second album “Eradication” upon unsuspecting listeners. That time has come, they have recently released the album and are following it up with a guitar playthrough video for the track “Kill and Consume”. This is a first-hand look at the song which washes over the listener boasting a slammy, black metal feels, a slick Revocation type jazzy middle eight, and a simple message – don’t eat shark soup less you become cursed for poor choices. They explain what they are like in the flesh:

“It’s tight as nails and loud as fuck. We are very lucky to have Justin as the backbone of the band, he hits so fucking hard we have to crank our amps to 11. We spend a lot of time working on our songs at rehearsal so you get a good clear punch in the face. If we can’t hear the riffs when the sound hits the air in rehearsal, it’s time to tweak structure or tone until it makes sense.”

The band says that they can’t wait for their fans to hear the album and this playthrough video adds to the experience that is Eaten By Sharks. The production on “Eradication” blows their last release “We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat” (2013) out of the water and it clearly shows they have poured blood, sweat, and tears into this offering. This is partially due to tight musicianship, and dedication as well as Christian Donaldson’s expertise in capturing a mammoth sound that will keep the listeners coming back for more.

Eaten By Sharks lean into their nautical hell narrative, and set out to rattle your existence like a mega-tsunami. They are recommended listening for fans of Despised Icon, Fit For An Autopsy, and Cattle Decapitation.

“If you’re new to the group, they’re from Ontario, and like the majority of Canadian tech-death bands, they’re damn good at what they do. Don’t let the goofy band name and oddball cover art fool you, this is not amateur hour stuff… As for what the song has to offer, “Depth Charge” is built on continual flipping back and forth between heavy groove terrain and frenetic riffs aided by ripping leads. In doing so, the song feels almost wave-like in its structure, an ever-changing stream of back and forth battling going on underwater. From the time I’ve spent listening to the full release, this is definitely an album many of you will enjoy.” – Metal Injection

“Eaten By Sharks bring aquatic brutality to Technical Death Metal… Eradication should be of great interest to fans of bands like Fit For An Autopsy, Cattle Decapitation, and Revocation and will be available as a CD or digital download. So take my advice, stay out of the water, go grab a copy and let the feeding frenzy begin upon some other unsuspecting victims.” – Metal Talk

“These guys are all business, and put together a pretty compelling, often crushing effort ” – Metal Rules

“Eradication is an absolute blast and one that hits just as hard as you want it to, and is just as serious as you want an album from a band called Eaten By Sharks to be. I wholeheartedly recommend this beast and hope that you have fun listening to it. I did.” – Noob Heavy

“I just discovered Eaten by Sharks, and the band is a good surprise. Their mix of several styles focused on raw violence and devastating technicality makes Eradication an explosive and extremely effective album.” Acta Infernalis

“Eradication is a cracking slab of death metal, excellently written and performed to a high level.” The Razor’s Edge

“Combining new and old Death Metal influences, Eaten By Sharks have proven themselves to be a cut above the competition at the top of the food chain ” – Metal Noise

Canada’s NWOTHM outfit Iron Kingdom is releasing their fifth studio album “The Blood Of Creation” this fall and in advance have the melodic new single “In The Grip Of Nightmares” ready for your consumption. The album is not a concept album, but they exhibit a passion for fantasy themes and pays homage to tales woven by acclaimed authors. The single is about the sword Stormbringer from the Michael Moorcock books Elric of Melnibonè Series. Bound together by fate, Elric consumes the souls of those he slays with Stormbringer and this dramatic relationship is conveyed through progressive traditional heavy metal in the vein of Helloween and Fates Warning. Fast and driving, it is also melodic with plenty of solos and focus on the leads. The band explains the track further:

“We started writing this song during the ‘On The Hunt’ sessions back in 2019, however, the song had a different energy than the rest of the album so we decided it would be best to come back to it at a later date. In late 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, we took a second look at what was to become ‘In The Grip Of Nightmares’. We rewrote the tune to be what it is today. It tells the tale of the legendary sentient sword ‘Stormbringer’ and its relationship to Elric. The sword ‘consumes’ the souls of those who it strikes down and feeds the energy into Elric, who needs it to survive. The two are bound together by fate. A fate that twists Chaos and Law, and leaves Elric in the grip of nightmares.”

Iron Kingdom set out to create music in a style of metal that seemed to have been forgotten when they were kids. Since no one else seemed to be doing it, they decided to play metal the way it used to be played in the 70s and 80s while transporting listeners into unique, fantastic worlds. Since their conception, they have toured around the world, keeping old-school vibes alive.

This upcoming album sees a lot more music content coming from lead guitarist Megan Merrick and having drummer Max Friesen (ex-Ophelia Falling) has added another layer of ideas giving this latest offering a new perspective than the previous ones, while maintaining the shredding heavy metal thunder fans have come to love. The album was self-produced by Iron Kingdom with mixing done by Andy Boldt and mastering by Greg Reely (Overkill, Fear Factory, 3 Inches of Blood).

This refreshingly classic and refined taste of traditional heavy metal is recommended for fans of Riot, Iron Maiden, and Helloween.

The single “In The Grip Of Nightmares” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The album “The Blood Of Creation” will be released on November 4, 2022.

About: Inspired by legendary pillars of heavy metal such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and Rush, this four-piece is well known for their energetic and electrifying stage presence, as well as intricate musical melodies that bring listeners back to a time when heavy metal was in its prime.

Formed in Surrey, B.C. Canada, in June of 2011, the band’s core members were Chris Osterman on guitar and vocals, bassist Leighton Holmes, and drummer Amanda Osterman, joined by Jordan Wright on guitar. This quickly changed, after recording their debut album ‘Curse Of The Voodoo Queen’ Jordan was replaced by guitarist Kenny Kroecher. ‘Curse Of The Voodoo Queen’ was released on Dec 14, 2011, and the band took the opportunity to tour western Canada, along with an appearance on the TV Show, Canada’s Got Talent.

With the debut album receiving little attention, the group decided it was time to record a new album, and by April 26, 2013, ‘Gates Of Eternity’ was released. Garnering some strong reviews coming in around the world, attention was growing, and the band was invited to perform at Germany’s Keep It True XVII festival. This opened up many new avenues for the act to pursue, including some serious time on the road through Canada in 2013, and Europe in 2014, followed by a tour in the USA with California’s Night Demon. The band had created some major momentum and Iron Kingdom was spreading their moniker far and wide in support of the first two releases.

On July 30, 2015, Iron Kingdom released not one, but two more albums, ‘Ride For Glory’ their 3rd full-length album, as well as ‘Unleashed at the Kraken (Live in Seattle)’ an exclusive live E.P. recorded on a previous tour. The band set out on the road again in support of the two new releases. The tour was unfortunately riddled with many trials, including a vehicle accident that almost killed the band members. Following the tour, Amanda decided to step back from the band to pursue other commitments. Joey Paul then took her place behind the kit.

Life on the road continued, including a massive North American tour in 2016, as well as a tour in Brazil in a supporting slot for former frontman of Iron Maiden, Blaze Bayley. After many performances, guitarist Kenny and drummer Joey departed, thus leaving the door open for Chris Sonea, and Megan Merrick, on drums and guitar respectively.

It took four years for the follow-up album after ‘Ride For Glory’, but finally on Oct 4, 2019, ‘On The Hunt’ was released. This was the fourth full-length release from this traditional metal act. Iron Kingdom toured ‘On The Hunt’ immediately with an extensive North American tour in the fall of 2019, and shortly after, toured Europe in March of 2020. Thankfully the band was able to perform the majority of their European dates, but unfortunately, COVID-19 took its toll and their final performance was canceled. At the return of the tour, drummer Chris Sonea decided to depart from the group, and the band (now consisting of band members, Leighton Holmes, Chris Osterman, and Megan Merrick) began auditions to fill the void on the drums.

In the Spring of 2020, Max Friesen joined the band, taking his seat behind the kit, and once again, Iron Kingdom stands ready to take the world by storm and aid in the revival of the mighty and classic sounds of Traditional Heavy Metal. Their new album “The Blood of Creation” is scheduled to be released in Fall 2022.

#5 (On The Hunt) Canadian National Loud Chart – For the Week Ending: Tuesday, November 12, 2019 (earshot)

“a glorious gallop of foot on the monitor, traditional heavy metal that will have NWOBHM fans drooling. 9/10” – Metal Gods TV

“It’s a pleasure when you have the chance to listening to bands such as IRON KINGDOM, true defenders of best tradition of our loved music. 88/100” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal

“One of Western Canada’s finest exports is traditional heavy metal band Iron Kingdom… another solid effort proving why Canada is by far the best country for modern traditional heavy metal!” – Skull Fracturing Metal

“With On The Hunt, you can expect Iron Kingdom’s traditional heavy metal. They make no apologies for invoking legends like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, et al, for metal inspiration. Not dismissing the excellent rhythm section, but with the twin guitar attack of Osterman and Merrick, you’ll find all the songs within On The Hunt quite guitar-forward… Essentially, with this album, Iron Kingdom remains true to their metal style. 4/5” – DangerDog Music Reviews

“Of the hundreds of heavy metal bands that have “Iron” in their name, not very many of them are deserving of it. Iron Maiden? Obviously. Iron Savior? Yup. Iron Fire? Definitely. Of course, Iron Kingdom are undoubtedly deserving of the mark, because the metal they’ve forged is strong, heavy, and true. 9/10” – Power Thorn

“Holy Shit! Have you heard Iron Kingdom’s On the Hunt? If you haven’t you are missing out on one of the coolest album’s of 2019.” – 10/10 Keeper Magazine

The bonus track which was initially released only in Japan is a cover of the country’s biggest ever metal band X Japan. We’ve had a ton of fun performing the song Blue Blood live multiple times, and while recording ‘Unchained’ we decided to record that one as well! EPK – Obsidian Skies – Saturnian (2022)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, working on this EP was one of the things that kept us sane. We went through job losses, large life changes, and mental health struggles during this time. The writing was very therapeutic for both of us and it feels amazing to see this EP come to life. After the breakup of our previous band, it’s great to be able to work together again and produce some of the best work either of us has ever done. We’ve both always seen music as an escape and we bring that into our lyrics. The entire story of this EP takes place on Saturn’s moon, Titan, as humanity leaves a dying Earth and struggles to start anew, echoing the struggles of this pandemic.

We’ve both challenged ourselves with this EP, both as songwriters and as instrumentalists. It’s resulted in something we’re beyond excited to share with the world, an EP that really shows who we are as musicians. From heavy rhythmic sections to sweeping orchestral melodies, we feel we’ve touched on a large part of the musical spectrum with this release.” – Obsidian Skies

“Rounding off our 9, no 10 highlights this week is another debut release: “Saturnian” by Colorado progressive/symphonic death metal duo Obsidian Skies… this science-fiction tale feels like an epic mini-blockbuster despite its short runtime of only 24 minutes.” – The Prog Space

“The band’s musicianship is fantastic ” – Metal Temple

“Exciting and versatile Prog-Melo-Death” – PowerMetal.de

““Saturnian” is an enjoyable first release from Obsidian Skies. Whilst only a three song E.P. it is a very ambitious release with some very epic and complex music on show.” – Ever Metal

“What a journey this was from Earth to TITAN through space! From acoustic, piano, orchestral to the singing. I enjoyed every bit of it. The debut EP Saturnian was a pleasant melodic death metal surprise and looking forward what comes next. Logan and Tim really put much effort and you hear it. This is for the Metalfans of Rivers of Nihil, Opeth, Scar Symmetry and Into Eternity. 8/10” – Belgian Metal Shredder

=============================================

The EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Lyrically, the EP takes place on Saturn’s moon, Titan. In this story, Earth became inhospitable to life and a portion of humankind left the planet to settle on Titan. After colonizing the moon, society began to take shape. Many people could not let go of the thought of all the people left behind on a dying Earth and began to riot. As a result of this, the military presence on the colony dispatched the instigators and enforced a strong, almost dystopian order on the moon. People were at peace, but were not able to live a fulfilling life.

Musically, in order to convey the story, we avoided a repetitive song structure. The songs move through many sections with motivic references throughout to tie it together. Many different instruments carry the melody, including fretless bass and piano. As a whole, the most technically complex part peaks in the middle of the EP as the story climaxes. Our guitars are tuned in drop C, but we didn’t let that limit the tonal centers that we could explore.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Celestial Age
Lyrically: In this track, humankind first leaves a dying Earth to settle on Titan, the largest moon of Saturn. Astronomers have predicted that in our solar system, Titan would be the best second home for humanity. The settlers are awed by the sights they see, such as a gas giant on the horizon. It seems that hope has been restored for the human race, but the settlers still lament their former home.

Musically: The track begins feeling more like doom metal with a droning quality. Most of the song is in 6/8, giving it a more flowing feel. Many parts, including the chorus, are more rhythmic, but there are absolutely trance-like sections throughout the song. The song has many instrumental sections, but both clean and harsh vocals are used. Harmonically, the song has many instances of “pivot points”. In the section starting at 4:34, for example, the harmonies pivot around a tremolo-picked “C” to maintain that droning quality.

2. Rebirth in the Stars
Lyrically: Following the events of “Celestial Age”, humanity has established a functioning colony on Titan. People have jobs, life is flourishing, and it seems that humanity will rebuild. However, there are those that cannot look past the fact that these people chosen to live on Titan seemingly abandoned the rest of humanity to their fate on a dying Earth. These people riot against what they see as a facade of what used to be and cause untold damage to the colony. The military power in the colony organizes and quells this insurrection, and instills a very strong regime of order. Everyone is once again at peace, but people do not live fulfilling lives. At the end of the song, a new speaker calls for riots against this oppressive dystopian regime.

Musically: This song has a much darker quality to it than “Celestial Age”, relying heavily on parallel minor chords. Much of the song also has a more technical feel to it, drawing inspiration from Classical era music. The harsh vocals are much faster in this track, giving many sections a very frantic feel. The tempo of the song as a whole is higher as well. The orchestra is featured heavily in this track, with a four-minute orchestral section in the middle of the song. It explores much of the thematic material introduced by the traditional metal instruments. Rhythmically, this song features many changing time signatures and some metric modulation to shift between tempos.

3. Home
Lyrically: This song is less of a story, but more of one man’s lament for his former home and the exploration of his emotions. He begins by expressing that nothing he sees around him in this new place can compare to his lost home. While he may live and breathe here, none of the lands he sees have been “colored by stories and songs”. As the song continues, he notes that while the end of the world took away much of humanity’s achievements, it preserved our stories and our pasts. The song concludes with him acknowledging that he and his peers have a unique opportunity to write new songs about a new home.

Musically: “Home” provides a more intimate setting, beginning with an acoustic guitar. The vocals have more presence in this song than in the previous two and distorted guitars do not enter until halfway through the song. Much of this song feels like one that could be sung around a campfire, thinking of days gone by. When the distorted guitars enter, they serve more to provide foundation than a true featured part to keep with the aesthetic. Harsh vocals are present in this song, but to a much smaller degree than the previous two. Harmonically, this song features jazzy major 7th chords to give it a warmer feel.

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND

1. Logan is a data scientist with degrees in Physics, Astrophysics, and Composition, while Tim is a software developer with a Master’s degree in Linguistics. We bring both of these fields into the music in the themes, structure, and performance.2. The entire story of this EP takes place on Saturn’s moon Titan. A large portion of humanity has fled from a dying Earth and is starting anew on a distant moon.

3. This whole EP was recorded in Logan’s bedroom in Colorado, mostly using an Axe FX digital amp simulator.

4. Logan’s first instrument was percussion, but he eventually moved to the piano in high school, and picked up the electric guitar in college to help form our previous band. Tim began as a classical guitarist when he was around 8, then moved to electric guitar in high school. When the bassist of our previous band left, Tim picked up the bass and fell in love with it, moving to six-string and fretless basses.

5. We’re both avid gamers and spend a lot of time together playing games like League of Legends, Valheim, Old School RuneScape, and Minecraft.

Obsidian Skies was founded amidst the turmoil of 2020 by Logan Dougherty and Tim Watervoort. The two had worked together before, but not since the breakup of their previous band, Endlight, in 2017. Logan and Tim wrote much of Endlight’s music, with Logan on guitars and Tim on bass and vocals. They performed throughout Colorado, sharing the stage with bands such as Unleash the Archers and Archspire until the band’s end. While they remained close friends, Tim and Logan’s musical and professional paths diverged for a time at this point.

During this time, Logan attained a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition, adding to his Physics and Astrophysics degrees. He released a solo orchestral album, “Kingdom of Sand” in 2017, and had his chamber works performed at the University of Colorado College of Music. Tim completed his Master’s degree in Linguistics and went through an accelerated full-stack web development program. He performed as a vocalist for Oak, Ash & Thorn for a time in 2018, sharing the stage with bands such as Týr and Alestorm. Following this, he focused his musical attention on bass and solo metal work.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everyone was stuck indoors, the two looked for a project to work on, half to stay sane, and half to explore a new creative outlet. At this time, Obsidian Skies was born. It started with Tim and Logan sharing parts with each other that they had previously written. However, as time went on, it became a true collaborative writing process, with the two writing each song together. Their first release, “Saturnian”, is absolutely some of the best work either has ever produced.

Both Tim and Logan are influenced by progressive and technical death metal, listening to bands such as Fleshgod Apocalypse, Alkaloid, and Ne Obliviscaris. Composers such as Rachmaninoff, Bach, and Debussy strongly influence Logan, as well as more modern composers like John Williams and Howard Shore. Tim is heavily influenced by folk and melodic death metal bands such as Eluveitie and Insomnium and is inspired by great bass players such as Dominic Lapointe and Linus Klausenitzer.

The music of Obsidian Skies spans many different genres, not all of which are metal. While harsh vocals, fast rhythms, and guitar solos are featured prominently, they do not necessarily dominate. Sweeping orchestral melodies, clean singing, and instruments such as piano, acoustic guitar, and fretless bass contribute to the music to create a melodic and diverse sound.

Lyrically, the band’s themes are heavily influenced by science fiction and fantasy. The story of “Saturnian” takes place on Saturn’s moon Titan. In this story, humanity is forced to flee from a dying Earth, and a portion of the population colonizes Titan. While life is able to flourish there, the people who survived are forced to deal with the emotions of leaving their lost home and the guilt of abandoning those who could not leave the planet.

Obsidian Skies remains a studio band for now, but that has allowed for flexibility in tracking that would have been difficult to achieve as a brand-new live band. “Rebirth in the Stars”, for instance, has multiple sections with four or more guitar tracks and several orchestral layers. Their debut EP “Saturnian” is set to release in 2022 and will deliver an elaborate story with a diverse, but undoubtedly metal, sound.

Rockshots Records – Enter The “Land of Silence” ft. Vicio (Subsonica) – NeroArgento Shares Next Single Off Sixth Studio Album Out October 2022

Award-winning Italian producer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and re-mixer, NeroArgento will be releasing his sixth studio album “Land of Silence” via Rockshots Records on October 7th, 2022. To date, in a preview of the record’s release, he has unveiled two songs “Daybreak” and “The Way I Am” and today, he shares its third single and album title track that features special guest Vicio (Subsonica).

NeroArgento adds:

“This is a collaboration with a good friend and a very talented producer, super well known also for being the bass player of Italian big mainstream electro/rock band Subsonica. The track is super pop-friendly with side-chained synths and vocal layers, but hides (not so well hehe) a dark and heavy soul, especially in the final part. I met Vicio a few years ago, and from the beginning, I loved the way he amazingly worked the bass frequencies and the way he thinks, his band was already super big in the Italian mainstream scene. After a very long time, we met again through one of my best friends Rayden during a lovely lunch, and we felt immediately the same music vibes, I explained to him that I was just polishing the new album and only a song was left, so here we are! I love this track, and I love the result.”

Digital – https://bfan.link/land-of-silence

An explosive mixture of grunge rock, industrial metal, and electronic music, packed with orchestral influences and acid fuzzy sounds, “Land of Silence” follows the success of 2020’s “Circles”, which soared to #10 on the iTunes Top 200 Italy Rock Chart along with more than 1 million streams on Spotify.

“Land Of Silence” is the most coherent record to date from NeroArgento‘s discography. It’s a solid industrial foundation composed of unmistakable low-tuned guitar riffs and very heavy drum grooves, topped with electronics and synths ranging from the most acid electro to retro wave pop-friendly melodies, without forgetting the usual and distinctive vocal layers.

With great attention to every aspect, “Land of Silence” is entirely performed, recorded, and mixed by NeroArgento. The record was mastered by Brandon Ashley at D-Tuned in Brighton (UK) and features prominent guests such as Vicio (Subsonica) and Claudio Ravinale (Infernalizer).

NeroArgento adds:

“I’m super excited about ‘Land of silence’. This is my most consistent album, and every track sounds distinct. I always loved to contaminate and mix a lot of genres together trying something new, but as my past album “Circles” shows with its results, keeping a strong line and working on that is the best choice. I’m super satisfied also because once again I did and played everything on my own. The album has super melodic and mainstream moments, but keeps the focus on that line, so this is an industrial cyber metal record, while in the past the only kind of music definition could be classified as ‘crossover’.”

NeroArgento is recommended for fans of Motionless In White, Falling In Reverse, and Bring Me The Horizon.

As a producer / arranger NeroArgento has appeared on more than 50 records released worldwide and is endorsed by ESP guitars, ML sound Labs, and Mad Cat Amps.

Look To The Sky And See TONIC BREED’s “Blood Moon” Off New EP “Fuel The Fire”

New EP “Fuel The Fire” Out Now! ft. guests from Megadeth, Soilwork, Kamelot and more!

Norwegian one-man thrash Tonic Breed‘s latest music video is setting a “Blood Moon” in support of their latest EP “Fuel The Fire” unleashed this past July. The EP includes guest appearances from Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Bernt Jansen (Artch/Wig Wam), Björn Strid (Soilwork), Martin Skriubakken (Endezzma), and Oliver Palotai (Kamelot).

“Paradoxically the most played Tonic Breed song to date, despite the musical contrast from earlier releases. This song is a more layback melodic piece that takes the listener for a little fairy tale,” adds Tonic Breed‘s Patrik K. Svendsen.

The video for “Blood Moon” can be seen at the following link: https://youtu.be/rCNcpRAMOrM

Along with previous music videos:
“No Rocks on the Scotch” ft. Björn Strid (Soilwork), Martin Skriubakken (Endezzma) – https://youtu.be/ear1S6o318E
“H.E. Antagonist” ft.s Oliver Palotai of Kamelot – https://youtu.be/fe-iiWh5VUs
“Fuel the Fire” ft. Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Bernt Jansen (Artch/Wig Wam) – https://youtu.be/bykVlu1mLpo

Tonic Breed was established in 2006 as a full-on thrash quartet that abruptly disbanded in 2019. With much thought by founding member Patrik K. Svendsen, he decided to take the reins to reinvent the band and keep its candle burning for its next release as part of its new chapter. The outcome is now a one-man thrash army led by Svendsen with support from metal friends to give metalheads raw, energetic hard-hitting thrash, with melodic and groovy elements.

The four-track EP was recorded over 18 months with multiple sound engineers from different countries, along with various guest musicians. When asked what fans can expect from this next evolution of Tonic Breed, Patrik K. Svendsen answered:

“I believe the EP will not disappoint the Tonic Breed fanbase. The starter songs are right up there in the alley they would expect. However, some new elements here and there might cause disagreements. Blood Moon would be one of those. This melodic piece was a result of my experimental phase. One of four songs I recorded from that time, and Blood Moon was the only one making the cut. After listening to the release, I believe one impression the listeners will have is that there is a significant difference between the songs. For some, maybe too much. Personally, I like that kind of dynamics.”

Tonic Breed‘s new EP “Fuel the Fire” is available on all digital platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. Fuel the Fire (4:56) ft. Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Bernt Jansen (Artch/Wig Wam)

0 Rockshots Records – ONELEGMAN “Radiate” Your Day With New Single Off Upcoming Album “Event Horizon” Out October 2022

Montreal, QC – September 2, 2022

Rockshots Records – ONELEGMAN “Radiate” Your Day With New Single Off Upcoming Album “Event Horizon” Out October 2022

Italian proggers ONELEGMAN are sharing their second single to “Radiate” your day. The track is off the band’s forthcoming album “Event Horizon” due out on October 21, 2022, via Rockshots Records. “Radiate” moves from a strange acoustic intro with Indian influences to an orchestral and melodic rock song. The lyrics are inspired by “Passengers”, an American science fiction movie, directed by Morten Tyldum in 2016. In the movie, a couple of space travelers are forced to live their whole existence in complete solitude, dedicating themselves to building their relationship and safeguarding the supreme good of life.

The video for “Radiate” is solely done by handmade drawings of Simone Ferarein Ferrarini and edited in stop motion with the intention to give a fluid, continuative, and always morphing vision of the emotions that grow between a couple of children becoming adults while loving each other.

The video can be viewed and heard at https://youtu.be/cpxmqujCLcs

The third full length from the trio, “Event Horizon” is ONELEGMAN’s most peculiar release to follow a new concept for each one of its tracks; to create a mosaic with sounds, lyrics, and graphics in order to show to the listener the direction of their journey. The band explains in further detail:

“We’ve always meant for our music to give listeners an odyssey and this intention was never stronger than on this third album. We have aimed high, but not necessarily far, we focus on the intimacy of humanity, sometimes on the unconscious, and to explore the universe to the limit of possible knowledge and consciousness. We titled the album “Event Horizon” because it is precisely that, an EVENT HORIZON. This album is an auditory exploration of new worlds, the chaos theory, the last days of a star’s life, the direction of time, entropy, the fourth dimension that is gravity, love as an elementary form of existence, existence as a mere force of attraction and repulsion between electrons, existence as creatures of God or as sons of physics and chemistry.”

It is not the band’s intention to translate the works of scientists such as Greene, Rovelli, Bertone, Hawking, Jim Al-Khalili, and Primo Levi into music, but to take inspiration from their treatises, terminologies, and thoughts to build cosmic and quantum images where they search for the true human essence, perhaps where life is born.

ONELEGMAN is recommended for fans of Devin Townsend, Faith No More, and Alice In Chains.

About:

ONELEGMAN was formed in 2003 in Reggio Emilia, Italy. They introduced themselves to the world with their 2007 self-produced EP. In 2011, they collaborated with Dysfunction Production, an Italian team of producers who worked with Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), Tue Madsen (Meshuggah), Logan Mader (Machine Head) and Dan Korneff (Paramore), Bjorn Strid (Soilwork) among the others to produce their debut album “The Crack”.

In 2015, they released their sophomore full-length “DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS WORLD WAS MADE FOR YOU?”. The record was a more rock-oriented, dynamic, orchestral concept album about people experiencing, living, and interpreting the theme of change through a tragedy that leaves a mark on their lives forever. It was dedicated to those affected by the earthquakes that struck the Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy during May 2012.

Supporting their catalogue with tours across Italy and sharing the stage with bands like HATEBREED, WOLFMOTHER, and LACUNA COIL among many others, ONELEGMAN entered the studio in 2019 to create their third album, “Event Horizon” now set for release in 2022.

Toronto Grind DEPLETED URANIUM Unleash Video “Origins” – Full Album Live Off The Floor

Toronto’s Depleted Uranium kicked off 2022 with the smashing blunt force trauma known as “Origins”. The album is a fast, aggressive journey with existential lyrics delivered with full-throttle vocals, coupled with technical melodies and harmonies that bring listeners to their bad place. It is meant to obliterate negative energy and make life a better place as everyone has something to scream for or about.

On March 6th of this year, during the end of the Covid lockdowns in Ontario, the band entered their rehearsal space to record a one-take, live-off-the-floor performance of “Origins” from beginning to end. The result is a relentless fury of demon-possessed power, unleashed after years of torment to satisfy the exodus from the hellhound cage. The spoken intro is done by Norbert Suchanek from “The Depleted Uranium Question”.

“”When we decided to record a live performance video of our album Origins (released January 28, 2022), we were still deep in a Covid lockdown. Nowadays, that seems like a distant thing of the past. However back in January 2022, nobody knew when things would actually open up. Even the video recording was delayed due to a member having Covid. The main drive behind the decision to release Origins as a live video performance was due to the lockdown and our urge to perform. As Origins is a prequel album and recorded back in 2010, this video performance is a modern version of the album with a visual representation of the band’s live performance. Alike with the album Origins, this recording was captured in one take, live off the floor with multiple cameras in a controlled environment. We wanted to capture it as raw as possible and to represent our performance aspect as opposed to the production aspect, as we put as much energy into this performance as we do all of our shows. The flame of hope seemed like a distant dream, but now everything is basically back to normal and shows are alive and well. We have been rehearsing for some local shows and working on new material which we hope to have out later this year or early next. We are happy to have the last 2 years behind us and look forward to the next 2 years in front of us!” adds the band.

The video can be viewed and heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

“Origins” is Depleted Uranium‘s history of who they are and where they come from. It is meant to be listened to in reference to their self-titled, debut release; to give a perspective that will also further be referenced in their future releases. Both lyrics and music hold a high tension and are expressed without hesitation. Both are relevant to their time and space of creation and are embodied with existential yet direct meaning. The album as a whole is a statement of youth being dissatisfied with the existing conditions of reality and channeling our experience into what it is today. “If one cannot withstand the hot glow of anger upon the discovery of a wrong, then time is wasted thinking deeply”. Depleted Uranium‘s band name, their lyrics, and their music are a product of the system with the right individuals as the recipe. Their message on Origins” is to strive for personal freedom and to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t.

Loud, technical, and confident, “Origins” is recommended for fans of Converge, Charles Bronson, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

The album was released on January 28, 2022 with the physical CD including an exclusive bonus track.

“It’s raw, dystopian, apocalyptic and there’s no way I’m the only catching vibes of Tool’s “Prison Sex” and Voivod’s “Ravenous Medicine” from the video and Orchid, old Converge, Dystopia and Combatwoundedveteran from the tune (Beta Particles) itself.” – Decibel Magazine

“The music (which could be thought of as a blending of powerviolence and math metal) genuinely sounds insane — furiously so — and yet something about the experience makes sense. Not just because it sounds like people throwing away mental shackles and conventions, but also because the music simultaneously gets its hooks in your head. There’s a sense of order and precision of execution in it, at the same time as it seems completely disruptive of order.” – No Clean Singing

“Aside from grind, you’re getting a decent dose of mathcore, but even more often, the music veers into territory that I think would appeal to screamo fans. These parts are governed by clean-ish, anguished vocals and additionally infused with melancholy by the guitar. While they do the most to define the mood of the album, I’d still hesitate to pigeonhole it, as the band pivots from style to style often enough to give the music a nicely weird, free-form feel. If you’d like a take on the post-nuclear apocalypse that isn’t filled with boring zombies and mutants, look no further.” – Toilet Ov Hell

“All in all, “Origins” pretty much kicked me in the balls and announces that here is a new force to be reckoned with in the grindcore world.” – Wormwood Chronicles

“It’s carnage but carnage you’ll want to experience over and over again.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

Exitus Stratagem Records – AITTALA Reveal Artwork, Track Listing For New Album “Live To Regret” Out November 2022

Exitus Stratagem Records is proud to announce the release of Raleigh, NC’s Aittala (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) for their forthcoming album “Live To Regret” due out November 7th, 2022.

“Live to Regret” follows the band’s 2021’s re-mastered and re-released album “American Nightmare” (originally released 2016) also unleashed on Exitus Stratagem Records.

Crossing many veins of metal genres, Aittala has been known since its existence as a band not to be pigeonholed to one extreme sound. Over their catalog of five previous albums and one ep, they have infused elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition.

Over the years since first forming in 1991, the band has, like many other bands, gone through member changes with today’s lineup solidified by Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass joining band founder, guitarist and vocalist Eric Aittala.

“Live to Regret” will feature 11 tracks over 40 mins of headbanging metal. The album was written by Eric Aittala during a chaotic time in his life. Not only was it during the height of the lockdowns of the pandemic, but he was also in a very destructive relationship. That mayhem fueled his creativity, both musically and lyrically. In addition to the record’s track listing, it will showcase a reimagined version of the 2011 released industrial-esque track, which will feature real drums and guitars (neither of which the original had) that tells the tale of a serial killer and his obsession, Juliet.

Eric Aittala adds about the new full-length:

“I was constantly walking on an uncertain tightrope and I never knew when it was going to break. I and the rest of the band think the fans will hear the pain and pleasure that went into the creation of this album as well as hear the growth in the songwriting. We hope the fans feel the same pleasure, pain, chaos, and passion that I was going through and infused into the songs when they listen to the album and singles.”

“Live to Regret” was produced by Eric Aittala and John E. Wooten IV, who also mixed the record along with mastering by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering and album artwork by Mariano Pugliese.

Recommended for fans of Mastodon, Eyehategod, Baroness, Crowbar, and Katatonia, Aittala‘s sixth studio album “Live to Regret” will be available on November 7, 2022, via Exitus Stratagem Records.

About: The music of AITTALA (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre.

The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric Aittala was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene.

With the release of the 3-song EP ‘Selling Heaven’ in summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST. Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA.

Over the next decade or so, Eric played in numerous bands (TRIBE, MAGNETHEAD, DWELL) and lost focus on AITTALA.

Near the end of the 00’s, Eric decided it was time to refocus his efforts on the AITTALA brand. From 2009 to 2016, AITTALA released 4 full-length albums: ‘Bed of Thorns’ (2009), ‘Haunt Your Flesh’ (2011), ‘Effigy’ (2014) and ‘American Nightmare’ (2016). Each album showcasing a natural progression of song writing and lyrical content but retaining the core AITTALA sound and evolving it.

In 2019, AITTALA signed with Curtain Call Records and released the band’s fifth full-length album ‘False Pretenses’. It was ten brand new songs that not only continued the song writing evolution of heavier but catchy songs, but also sonically. AITTALA used an entirely different approach for the recording, mixing and mastering to create the best AITTALA album to date.

The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass.

They continue to write, record and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses with plans in 2022 to unleash their sixth studio album entitled “Live To Regret” to be released by label Exitus Stratagem Records.

“The band’s sound is difficult to pigeonhole because they incorporate a variety of styles. The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“I would describe them as an eclectic Doom Metal band, although their sound is a bit tough to define. That’s ultimately a good thing though, and I enjoy the refreshment of something different. My only major complaint is that on some songs, the vocals and lyrics are so drawn out that they become a little boring and you end up waiting a bit for something cool to happen. The good news is something cool usually does end up happening” – Metal-Temple

“In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – The Metal Channel

Italian proggers EVEN FLOW announce they will be releasing their latest EP “Mediterraneo” this coming October 2022. The EP follows their three EPs “Dream Weaver” (2008), “Mother” (2019), and “Flower Paths” (2013), and two albums “Life Has Just Begun” (2017) and “Ancient Memories (2011).

“Mediterreano” sees the band approaching the record with progressive metal in the rhythm with vocal lines oriented towards power metal with AOR eighties influences. Lyrically, the EP speaks of love, hope, sadness, and joy for the future. Guitarist Pietro Paolo Lunesu explains the record in further detail:

“The five songs that make up Mediterraneo are gloriously uplifting anthems that draw you from your world of cares and worries into an exhilarating musical realm of dreams. The songs are concise and finely honed, yet seem to contain an ever-expanding universe to explore within their duration. For example, the title track, ‘Mediterraneo’, is perhaps the EPs crowning glory, building through multiple layers, each more captivating than the last, but in truth every note from the first bombastic chords that usher in opener ‘Ocean Lies’ to the final spiraling guitar solo of ‘Mediterraneo’ is sheer melodic, progressive metal perfection.”

The EP was immaculately mixed and mastered by Michele Guaitoli (Visions Of Atlantis, Temperance) with spectacular artwork by Mickael Briot of Mythrid Art (Nightmare).

“Mediterraneo” also features Even Flow‘s new lineup with vocalist Marco Pastorino (Fallen Sanctuary, Temperance) and bassist Luca Negro (Temperance) joining the Lunesu brothers Pietro Paolo (guitar) and Giorgio (drums).

The band has released their music video for the EP’s opening track “Ocean Lies”, which was the first song written for the record.

“I thought of opening the EP ”Mediterraneo” with Ocean Lies because I considered it the most powerful, but at the same time with a great musical balance characterized by a softer part and a part a bit Latin in the guitar solo section. Lyrically, the song represents at times, the desolation of the world, but at the same time thinking optimistically for the future.” adds Pietro.

The music video for “Ocean Lies” can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/CL7p2lvkM58

Over the years, since making their debut in 2008 with their EP “Dream Weaver”, Even Flow has done multiple tours across Europe and has supported bands such as Serious Black, Firewind, Eluveitie, Iron Savior, Katatonia, Orphaned Land, Katatonia, Pain Of Salvation among many more.

Due out on October 3rd, “Mediterraneo” is the next majestic level of achievement for Even Flow and is recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Stratovarius, Angra, and Queensryche.
