Get ready for more death, more black, and more thrash from Swedish supergroup Ironmaster and their forthcoming album “Weapons Of Spiritual Carnage” due out April 28th, 2023 via Black Lion Records. The full length is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut “Thy Ancient Fire” (February 2022).

Featuring current and ex-members of Dark Funeral, Scar Symmetry, Raubtier, Carnal Forge, and Facebreaker, this strong follow-up album is a natural continuation of the path taken on the band’s debut record. More powerful and faster than ever at times, but the flow of the full-length has been the focal point of the whole writing and recording process. Everything has been done with the full album listening experience in mind. Get ready to headbang it heavy and hard from beginning to end for a memorable audible mosh pit.

Edvin Skårud wrote all the lyrics (except for one song) on this record, his dark and masterful lyrics deal with death, cruelty and the dark side of life, and the blackness of one’s soul.

Today, Ironmaster presents the lyric video for the album’s second single “Monolithic Suppressor Engaged” – https://youtu.be/SqHzJ8FFftw

The band adds about the track:

“This Black-Thrash song on the album has some King Diamond inspired guitar in the chorus that’s a bit unusual for us, but adds an evil flavor to the whole thing.”

“Weapons Of Spiritual Carnage” was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Blacklounge Studios between May 2021 and October 2022 by Jonas Kjellgren. The album is now available for pre-order via Black Lion Records at https://ironmasterblacklion.bandcamp.com/album/weapons-of-spiritual-carnage

Seek The Beauty In The Little Things With Video “Destination Woe” From SHORES OF NULL

New Album “The Loss Of Beauty” Out March 2023

EU Tour w/ Swallow The Sun, Draconian, Avatarium

Shores of Null, from Rome, Italy has been ensnaring doom metal fans around the world for years with their particular blend of doom metal, one that ebbs and flows with melancholy, soothing vocal harmonies, and epic guitar work. Their latest work “The Loss Of Beauty” is their fourth album and the single “Destination Woe” is the fourth single and the opening track. The band comments on the personal intricacies of the song:

“The lyrics take inspiration from the aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, which in Japanese culture consists of the appreciation of all that is imperfect, impermanent, incomplete, and transient. This is actually a recurrent theme throughout the entire album. Beauty can also be intangible, like it can be a childhood memory or a pleasant episode in our life that will never come back, thus giving us a feeling of melancholy. Nothing is forever and we must be aware that everything comes to an end, in this perspective everything that is ephemeral becomes even more beautiful.”

Since their well-received debut album “Quiescence”, Shores of Null has been refining their sound and putting the emphasis on melodies. With the sophomore “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” they brought in more complex structures and with “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” they took the doomier, heavier, and darkest aspect of their sound and poured it into a 38-minute track. “The Loss Of Beauty” continues where “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” left off, initially conceived to be the band’s third album and preserved until today. Stylistically, it is melancholic dark metal with an assorted palette of genres.

Recommended for any and all doom fans, especially fans of Borknagar, Paradise Lost, and Amorphis, “The Loss Of Beauty” releases on March 24, 2023.

About: Shores of Null stand out from their contemporaries with their ability to blend seemingly disparate elements into their sound, overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time: blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place. Their music can be both melancholic yet majestic, made of chorale-like guitar textures across the instrument’s entire range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined mixture of clean and growled vocals, along with extensive use of pleasing vocal harmonies which have become the band’s trademark through the years.

The Rome-based metal band has been an unwavering presence within the metal underground since their musical outset in 2013, churning out three impressive records: the melodic and somber “Quiescence” (Candlelight, 2014), the darker and more complex “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” (Candlelight/Spinefarm, 2017), and finally their most ambitious work to date “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” (Spikerot Records, 2020), a 38-minute long opus which continues to prove the band’s willingness to go off the beaten path while creating their ultimate doom manifesto.

The band’s fourth album “The Loss Of Beauty”, recorded during the same sessions of “Beyond The Shores”, is expected to be released in March of 2023.

Shores of Null continues to impress and expand upon their doomy sound. An epic-length track worthy to sit amongst the best of these ventures (Edge of Sanity, Insomnium). Emotionally fulfilling and musically satisfying all at once.” – Dead Rhetoric (Best-of 2020)

“this album definitely is one of the best Doom Metal pieces I had the pleasure to look at in 2020. Once you plunge into its astonishing flow, there will be no escape from that majestic march through soaring soundscapes to those tear-drenched horizons.” – Rock Music Raider (Best of 2020)

“it’s certainly ambitious (video for “Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)”), but if you have the time, it’s worth the watch. Steeped in quality and excellent videography, it definitely deserves the attention for the amount of effort used.” – Metal Injection

“Shores of Null rolled the dice with Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying) and delivered in a big fucking way… Shores of Null have crafted something special; a heart-wrenchingly emotive and beautiful journey of sorrow, anguish, pain, and acceptance. Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying) is a splendidly sombre, brilliantly written opus of commanding death-doom that demands attention.” – Teeth of The Divine

“this album is phenomenal, both in terms of concept and its monumental delivery… with this magnum opus [Shores Of Null] have proved their position front and centre as depressed doom-titans…” – The Sleeping Shaman

“Beyond The Shores (On Death and Dying)” is a near perfect, monumental achievement of doom. I can’t imagine any fan of the style not finding something here to enjoy.” – Metal Temple

“An enchanting, gloomy opus.” – Moshville Times

“A single track of incredibly well-realised melodic doom metal, layered with all sorts of treats and nuanced delivery.” – Wonderbox Metal

“A piece of delicious despair, delivered on a platter of storm-ridden and excellently executed Doom Metal. A record that left anybody else in the genre in 2020 quaking in their wake.” – Rock Music Raider

“their most intricate and brooding work to date… grandiose emotional impact.” – Metal Storm

Based out of Sacramento, California, USA, Lunar is a progressive metal band who have released three albums thus far, with their fourth out on March 3rd. Chock-full of epic riffs and technical details, Lunar’s “The Illusionist” featuring album guests Jørgen Munkeby (Shining), Christian Münzner (Obscura), Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Taylor Washington (Paladin), Sam Vallen (Caligula’s Horse), Ben Karas (Thank You Scientist), Gleb Kanasevich, and Patrick Corona is a magical concept album that pairs creative metaphors with relatable life occurrences. According to the band, this is the best album they’ve done so far and they anticipate it to be the fan favorite. Each song sounds different from the rest, but together they are cohesive listening from front to back. The band continues to explain:

“We are so excited to finally be able to present our new album, “The Illusionist,” to the world! This album has taken so many twists and turns for us. Despite how difficult it was for us to finish this album, we couldn’t be more proud of it! This album has the best songwriting and production of any Lunar album to date. There is such a wide variety of sounds and influences, but also the album flows seamlessly from one song to another. And, once again, there is a huge list of amazing guest appearances from members of Obscura, Caligula’s Horse, Paladin, Emperor, Thank You Scientist, and more!”

“The Illusionist” is a concept album that tells the story of a magician that questions his entire life’s work. He’s spent his entire life devoting himself to his craft and now he questions if it was worth it. Lunar believes this is a concept many people can relate to, especially those who have careers in some kind of artistic field. Musically, the album goes through many stages as the character does on this journey of himself. There are songs that are angry, songs that are confused, songs that are depressed, and everywhere in between.

Lunar prides itself on writing music that is important to them and that they personally enjoy. It is recommended for fans of Devin Townsend, Opeth, and Katatonia

“The Illusionist” is being released on March 3, 2023, via Saibot Reign Records and before it officially drops, its album stream premiere can be heard on MetalInsider HERE.

“This is a record that everyone must own. Every generation and every country should adore an album like this, as one like Theogony rarely makes itself known. If you like music and consider it art, this is a must.” – Prog-Sphere on “Theogony” #23 Best Albums of 2017

“The sophomore album from this Cali band is showing the band expanding their horizons in sound. The heavy parts are heavier, the lighter parts are even lighter and the proggier parts are even more insanely proggy *plus on the song, Surrender, there is a very cool nod to the final lasting riff in Opeth’s Deliverance to close out the track…don’t think I didn’t catch that!* With all of the guest appearances, fantastic production and just masterful songwriting, this is one of the strongest prog albums you will hear all year. Trust me!” – Heavy Debriefings on “Eidolon” #39 Best Albums of 2019

“Inspired by a tragedy that befell the project in the way of losing guitarist Ryan Erwin, drummer and songwriter Alex Bosson has put his emotions towards honing a release that is as beautiful as angry. Helping him in his vision are guest contributions from members of Haken, Leprous, Thank You Scientist, Fallujah, etc.” – Prog-Sphere on “Eidolon” #19 Best Albums of 2019

“The word “classic” gets tossed around a lot, but I honestly can’t think of a better word for Eidolon. From front to back and top to bottom, this album is both firmly rooted in death metal with a progressive bend while standing alone atop the mountain. It’s equally headbanging heavy and enthralling, music to get in the mosh pit and simply sit in awe of. This is required listening because there’s nothing else quite like it.” – Progarchy on “Eidolon”

“Like Theogony, Eidolon is another very impressive showcase of modern progressive metal. It’s technical, emotional, melodic, and aggressive and is just very well put-together overall.” – wimpsandposers.com

RivetSkull Launches ZeroHate Merch Line With New Video “Narcissus” – Proceeds Donated To Metal for Good

New Album Out Now! “Trail of Souls: Samsara”

Releasing the re-imagined full-length “Trail of Souls: Samsara” this past July, Seattle and Los Angeles-based heavy metal four-piece RivetSkull are sharing a new lyric video for the track “Narcissus”. Along with its unveiling, the band is launching a merch line called “Zero Hate” (https://www.rivetskull.com/zerohate) where proceeds from sales will be donated to a non-profit called Metal for Good, which uses the positive values of rock, metal, and other alternative subcultures to make a positive difference in communities. More info can be found at https://metalforgood.org/about/

The band comments on both the track and Zero Hate Merch.

“We chose “Narcissus” as its lyrics decry hateful people, their leadership, speech, and violence. It shines the light on world leaders who convince others to do their bidding, regardless of cost. We like to make a difference and heavy metal has always been a refuge, RivetSkull is committed to working toward a world of #ZEROHATE. 100% of the profits from RivetSkull’s ZERO HATE merch line will be donated to Metal for Good to help support programs that change lives through the collective power and support of the heavy metal community.”

The video “Narcissus” can be seen and heard via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

“Trail of Souls: Samsara” is a complete re-recording of the band’s self-published 2020 album “Trail of Souls”. After self-recording and releasing their debut album during the global pandemic, RivetSkull revisited their songs with professional production that captures the massive sound that fans have come to expect from their live shows.

The band comments on re-recording and re-releasing the album:

“Our current sound is a petri dish of our combined experiences up until now: the things we’ve listened to, the things we’ve played… Trail of Souls: Samsara is a re-recording of our self-recorded/ self-produced 2020 album Trail of Souls. This time around, we recorded it organically, all together in one room at London Bridge Studio. A really good studio produces a really good sound: it’s either tuned that way professionally or it’s evolved that way through history. You work differently in that type of environment, it elevates the performance…It’s like if a doctor is doing surgery in their living room, they’re not going to perform as well.

“Trail of Souls: Samsara” has an epic, yet nostalgic feel. Lyrically, vocalist Chad McMurray writes from the heart about things people can relate to, nothing is contrived. RivetSkull isn’t trying to write a certain kind of song and they’re not trying to portray a certain image. They’re not trying to be a tough, brutal band. They’re just normal guys who like metal, much like it was in the 70s – 80s. “I don’t know, maybe we need to bring cod pieces back?” jokes McMurray.

Recorded at London Bridge Studio (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Queensrÿche) and produced by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Deftones, Seether), “Trail of Souls: Samsara” promises much more than a sonic retouch of the original. The reworked collection features new cover artwork and a previously unreleased recording of a cover of Aerosmith’s “King and Queens.”

RivetSkull keeps it classic and is recommended for fans of Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and Armored Saint.

“Trail of Souls: Samsara” was released on July 8, 2022, and is available on all digital platforms at the following link – https://lnk.to/TrailOfSoulsSamsara

About:
It would be easy to call RivetSkull a traditional heavy metal band, but they’re so much more than that. RivetSkull has taken the very roots of heavy metal and forged it into something new and fresh. Spawned from the same DNA that created the beasts that roamed the dark valleys of Birmingham, the foothills of the Cascades, and the plains of Texas, there’s no denying RivetSkull’s heavy metal heritage. This is hard-hitting music blasted over record store chatter, the buzzing of a tattoo gun, or the revving of a motorcycle engine. But, as any metalhead will tell you, heavy metal is more than just a genre: it’s therapy, it’s community, it’s a style – and it’s a movement. And it’s always evolving.

RivetSkull has created a modern sound that’s as unique as each member’s influences, from punk to country, from alternative to funk. Listening to RivetSkull, it’s easy to envision the band’s live show: Chad McMurray’s clean vocals soaring over a sea of bobbing bodies in black band t-shirts, Mark X. Plog’s boundary-defying guitar ascending over raised beers and outstretched metal horns, Michael Robson’s emphatic drums and Mark Hopkins’ booming bass rattling the bones beneath black jeans and denim vests. Like good metal – you’ll feel it in your core as much as you’ll hear it in your ears. All of this is brought to you by a dedicated and hard-working band of brothers. They are RivetSkull and they’re bringing the past into the future.

Hailing from Canada’s Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Nomad is a dynamic, progressive death metal band consisting of drummer/vocalist Bretton Melanson; guitarist/vocalist Matt Johnstone; guitarist/vocalist Jeff Mabb; and bassist Josh MacDonald. Having three vocalists creates a unique sound that is powerful, complex, and full-bodied. They have solidified their name in the local scene with festival appearances and supporting big-name acts and now they are stoked to have their debut album “The Mountain” ready for ears around the world. They share their excitement for the release:

“This has been a long time coming. After so many external factors holding us back, we are so happy to finally get this out to the world, and start crushing audiences again. I think we have a more “Rural” feel than most metal bands. The music feels like being in nature, camping, etc. Johnstone’s old band called themselves “Bush Metal” and that kind of feeling came over.”

Throughout the album, they confront personal and societal issues, explore sci-fi worlds and question authority. The seamlessly go from soft, clean ballad parts to raging, full-throttle death metal chaos. Drum and guitar solos abound, and the diversity in the vocal styles makes “The Mountain” an exciting and dynamic musical adventure.

The nine-track album was mixed by Bretton Melanson, mastered by Christian Donaldson and the album artwork was done by Angela Grimmuza. A melting pot of different styles and eras, Nomad is recommended for fans of Devildriver, Gojira, and Lamb of God.

“The Mountain” is due out on March 3, 2023, and can be heard in full before it officially drops via its album stream premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

About: Nomad is a dynamic, progressive death metal band from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and consists of drummer/vocalist Bretton Melanson; guitarist/vocalist Matt Johnstone; guitarist/vocalist Jeff Mabb; plus bassist Josh MacDonald. Kickstarted by Johnstone who was looking for an outlet, he approached Melanson and since the material felt right and with their previous history playing together, the ball was rolling. Over a few years, there was a lineup flux, with each additional leaving their mark on the material. Ultimately, they then recruited Mabb as a second guitarist and MacDonald on bass, and working collaboratively, they weave their melodic, groovy death metal.

Looking to avoid going too crazy on the violence and gore tropes that are quite prominent in metal music, they tend to tell stories based on fictional characters, historical events, science fiction, and astrophysics. Each member adds their own flair to the songs, imprinting their distinct influences.

When they hit the stage, the audience is greeted by multiple vocalists that deliver a massive wall of layered sound, integrated sound effects, and a well-thought-out visual element. They played Canada’s prominent Armstrong Metalfest in 2016-2019 and performed alongside bands such as Kataklysm, Origin, Soulfly, and Alestorm. They are releasing their debut album “The Mountain” in 2023.

“Scary, violent and good” – Frequence Metal

““Revolution” takes no time at all to seize attention. The drums clatter and boom with immediately thrilling effect, and around those convulsive strikes the guitars slowly meander and ring in a beguiling harmony. The vocals have their own interesting harmony but flare into rabid, throat-cutting growls. That slithering opening melody, warmed by the bass, reappears and becomes a swelling ear-worm — but with a pause the song transforms into a hulking and jolting brute. The guitars jitter and whine, and the vocals change into goblin-like snarls, creating a feeling of sinister menace, which becomes even more sinister thanks to an exotically swaying and swirling guitar solo whose piercing tones are somehow inviting as well as increasingly crazed. Maniac howls, ugly gurgling expulsions, and berserk screams vent the lyrics with their own groove, while the band as a whole continue on with their nasty but highly headbangable beating.” – No Clean Singing

Rockshots Records – DREAMYTH New Music Video “Odyssey” Eduardo Guilló (Crusade of Bards, Sun of the Dying)

New Mythology Album “Aletheia” Out April 2023

Spanish power melodic metal Dreamyth will be releasing the debut album “Aletheia” on April 14, 2023, via Rockshots Records. Combining heavy riffs, epic and majestic orchestrations, modern synths, and stunning vocal and harmonies with finesse like no one else, the band delivers high caliber album with special guests Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), Herbie Langhans (Firewind, Avantasia), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind) and Eduardo Guilló (Sun of the Dying, Crusade of Bards). Dreamyth intends to conquer the heart of metal fans all around the world.

Today, in support of the full-length, the band is sharing their latest music video for the track “Odyssey” featuring guest growl vocals from Eduardo Guilló (Crusade of Bards, Sun of the Dying).

The band explains the track in further detail:

““Odyssey” has one of our favourites choruses, epic and melodic where the vocalists show their power. It is the first song on the album, a drum roll moved by the wind breaks the silence to lead the way to one of the heaviest tracks on the record, powerful riffs and synthesizers command, and without knowing very well how, the adventure begins. Andrea and Edu introduce themselves in a combination of beautiful melodies and raw growls answering each other. The Etesian winds, those that mysteriously brought them here, predict a change. Before you know it, you’ll be right into the chorus, one of the catchiest on the album, a main melody sung by Andrea accompanied by numerous backing vocals from Dani, who bursts onto the scene without going unnoticed, plus even more guttural responses from Edu, three distinct vocal lines that merge at the end of the chorus to give it a force out of the ordinary. Bravery! Odyssey! Are the Battle Cries. Melodic, a lot of dynamism between the different vocal registers that our singers display here. With more vocal ornaments than instrumental compared to others, Odyssey is called to be one of the favorites of the album as it is for us.”

Dreamyth was formed in 2020 by guitarist and composer Adrián Carrero (Crusade of Bards) and drummer David Macarrilla. Dreamyth crafted its name by combining the words “Dream” and “Myth”, which they described as “a new world beyond imagination where its Myths and legends are real”. Andrea Carrero completed the core of the project after singing on all the song demos (released and unreleased). Soon after they were joined by Paolo Andreotti (Crusade of Bards) and second vocalist Dani G.

Band co-founder Adrián Carrero’s passion for classical history and culture, especially his stories about mythology in different cultures influences the lyrics that accompany the band’s compositions. Everything takes place in a new world where they are the Gods, Aletheia.

The concept album transports fans to a new world “ALETHEIA”, and the myth and legends that surround it are sometimes approached from a philosophical point of view.

“The idea was born from the need to give a new approach to the way of telling the myths of our world. Over the years, these stories derived from cultural traditions or legends, which have a deep symbolic meaning and usually involve a lesson, have been shared in different ways and have always generated a certain curiosity and inspiration in society. Luckily, there are tons of myths and legends and often many variations of the same core story between different cultures.” adds Adrián Carrero.

This first album focuses on the creation of this new world and its beginning, giving rise to a polytheistic culture where the band members are the most revered Gods with different attributes. In this approach, the band makes its own reinterpretation of some classical myths (including references to some of the most famous Greek mythologies) mixed with different personal experiences and concerns. With two lead vocals, the record brings a constant contrast, giving more life to the melodies and strengthening specific parts with numerous backing vocals. Apart from them, the first-class guests bring much more musical variety, and metal fans will be surprised and in their comfort zone at the same time with this album. Epic and catchy melodies mixed with a powerful instrumental background.

The musical composition of the album is clearly influenced by the great power metal and symphonic groups, some of the band members’ favorite genres. “Aletheia” incorporates flourished power, pop, metal, and rock songs combined with incredible storytelling of a mythical, and unique world filled with wonderful shades of “light in the dark.” On it, you can see a lot of guitars with doubled melodies, keyboards interacting with these melodies, epic orchestrations with a high level of detail, a lot of contrasts… music with a big amount of different sounds, from intimate ballads with only acoustic instruments to furious riffs leading to epic or darkness places.

Adrián Carrero adds, “The band and I are so excited to bring you the first chapter of our story! We’ve been working really hard on all this music, making the stories connect and the music itself reflect the plot of each. It’s definitely the most time we’ve spent on a musical project and the first time I’m leading all the work, from the first song ideas to the lyrics. We hope people enjoy it as much as we did forging it.”

Dreamyth is recommended for fans of Avantasia, Firewind, and Beast in Black.

================================================================

The EP as a whole:

Dawn of the Serpent is, to an extent, an opening AND closing of a chapter for us. We had pieces of what remains in this album back when we started, but were robbed of our beginning years due to COVID. Our tours/festivals were canceled, and everything went, indefinitely, on hold. We shifted from a personal-lyric project that focused on personal aspects to embracing that tarot, witchy, dark stuff that we were using our branding for. Dawn of the Serpent marks a new horizon beyond what was once viewed as our horizon.

Track By Track:

1. Horsemen is the first of four tracks (spoiler, anybody?) that will center around being written from the point of view of each of the four horsemen. I thought it would be interesting to not write some third-person point of view on these. Instead, we take a straightforward, first-person approach in an attempt to portray what the mindset of something of that level may view their landscape as.

2. Keres is a track telling the story of the Keres, or the goddesses of violent death. The Keres would be summoned by Zeus to kill those not yet deemed ready to die by their sisters, who are called the Moirai (Sisters of fate)

3. Holy Water is another older track that depicts a retrospective of my family life. Alcoholism, drug use, and religion-based superiority complexes ran rampant in my household from an extremely young age. This was my way of not only acknowledging previous chapters of my life, but closing the entire book altogether.

4. Mortifer and Dawn of the Serpent actually are conceptual. Mortifer, the hooded figure seen in all of our currently available artwork, is our symbol. He represents the end of the “natural order”, and the beginning of self-realization. The breaking away from what would be viewed as normal, and taking control of your surroundings. Dawn of the Serpent also serves as a conduit for the same ideology.

=====================================================================

Fun Facts – Story Angles:

1. Mortifer was the first single we released for Dawn of the Serpent. We got Devin from the insanely talented Worm Shepherd to lend his voice to our first release for this, and this was also the first song written under the current Abaddonia name.

2. Horsemen, believe it or not, was released within 2 months of it being completed. Barely any re-workings, all of the changes made were done in the studio and it was ready to go soon after.

3. Holy Water was actually the other song, along with Backbiter’s demo, that came from my previous band. It was changed THREE TIMES to try and keep up with the constantly-changing sound.

L-R – The Reaper – Brendan Luetkenhaus (Guitar), The Possessed – Branden O’Neill (Vocalist), The Plague – Zach Neisius (Guitar), The Wendigo – Billy Jordan (Drums), Not pictured: The Cultist – Isaak Clarkson (Bass)

And so it is written, the dawn of a new era engulfs the horizon. The abyss swallows the Sun, and all its light illuminates. Mortifer, hell-bent on the eradication of all that is unjust and uninspiring, will rise above what remains. The darkness belongs to the new land: Abaddonia. Hailing from the Midwest, USA, this deathcore act got together back in 2019 and after pandemic delays are ready to release their debut EP “Dawn of the Serpent” produced by Chris Wiseman (Shadow of Intent).

“Dawn of the Serpent” is, to an extent, an opening and closing of a chapter for Abaddonia. They had pieces of what remained on this EP back when they started, but thanks to the pandemic, things were indefinitely put on hold. They shifted from a personal-lyric project that focused on personal aspects to embracing that tarot, witchy, dark stuff that they were using their branding for. “Dawn of the Serpent” marks a new horizon beyond what they once viewed as their horizon. They comment:

“We are elated to be unveiling our debut musical compilation “Dawn of the Serpent”. With this, we hope to bring music that can be used interchangeably throughout the day. We hope that people can listen to every single track at their altars, at the gym, at work through their headphones, anything. We want to offer something polished, but still containing some raw elements. Storytelling, but with emotion. This album helped us find our identity, and we hope to accurately tell that story to all of our followers.”

Abaddonia says that they think this is a great starting point for them and that there are definite building blocks rooted in the foundation of this EP that will carry into their more solidified sound as they grow into it. Atmospheric, brooding, and unique “Dawn of the Serpent” offers a wide, but consistent sound that is consumable to a diverse audience, but is also something capable of being held sacred to a particular niche of metal-heads into occult vibes. It is recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, and Aversions Crown.

“Dawn of the Serpent” is now available as of March 3rd, 2023 on all digital platforms at https://linktr.ee/abaddonia and Abaddonia.bandcamp.com.

Madison, WI’s Yotuma is a fresh new sound out of the American Midwest with its brutal and groovy-inducing death metal. The quartet has something new for your headbanging palate with their latest single “The Traveler” off their upcoming EP “Otherworldly Incarnate” due out later this year to follow their 2021 debut album “Age of Acrimony”.

The track “The Traveler” has been a fan favorite live, with its catchy hooks, and riffs giving listeners a memorable moment in the mosh pit. The band adds:

“Traveler started with inspiration from Tool’s Lateralus track and Mudvayne’s Dig for the bass riffing. As soon as we finalized the structure and riffs for it, we knew it was going to be received well. This was the second song we wrote in the EP and we tried to keep it straightforward and catchy.”

Choosing the most well-received live songs that fit together in a cohesive vision was the main rule for Yotuma when they selected the track listing for “Otherworldly Incarnate”. It was a vigorous selection and a thorough writing process for the band, which consists of Ryan McAleavy (Vocals), Ella Rose (Bass), Ben Van (Guitar), and Brevin Becker (Drums) (ex-Squidhammer). Each track stays unique and fresh flowing smoothly into one another to present the EP as a work of art from beginning to end.

“Otherworldly Incarnate is going to be a powerhouse of seven songs all with different approaches to its songwriting. We experimented with our writing processes while still keeping the energy and power that the fans love. We absolutely love how this record turned out. Evan Yoakum did a phenomenal job recording this EP and Russell Hollar nailed the mix and master. This EP really captures our vision with the tracks sounding raw and gritty while staying tight and polished. We feel like we’ve raised the bar for our next release and are sure to continue to strive for bigger, better, and more impressive bangers.” says the band.

Creating technical and dynamic extreme music with a groove that takes influences from death, progressive, and thrash, Yotuma is recommended for fans of Decapitated, Gojira, Kublai Khan, 200 Stab Wounds, and Lamb of God.

=======================================================
The EP as a whole:

Our upcoming release “Otherworldly Incarnate is a powerhouse of 6 songs all with different approaches for songwriting while keeping a cohesive and tight sound. We experimented with our writing processes while still keeping the energy and power that the fans love.

Describe each song track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY)

Track 1 – Mantra: Our first ambient sampled track, we wanted to have a track to build tension to open our Album and live show.

Track 2 – Welding the Flesh: This song was written with more of an old-school death metal idea with a more modern breakdown. This song establishes the ideas of the album, keeping a driving pace that we open with live, and gets the crowd going right off the bat.

Track 3 – The Traveler: This song is our fan favorite, written with catchy hooks, riffs, and a classic song structure that make it very memorable to our fans.

Track 4 – Viscera Bucket: We took a more grindy approach to this one, and wanted it to drive right off the bat. The fast pace choruses and swingy verses add a dynamic aspect that’s impossible not to headbang to.

Track 5: – Shrine of Absolution: This is the last song we wrote for the album and we consider it to be the most polished song we’ve written so far. It is a good representation of the direction we will be going for our new material.

Track 6: – Unhinged Atrocity: Definitely our most bouncy track, from the bass intro all the way to the slow, heavy breakdown. This track really shows our love of the groove.

Track 7: – Wrath of Acala: The closing track of our album wraps everything up nicely. This song incorporates some more progressive and even funky parts that end nicely with a classic groovy breakdown that leaves the listener excited for more.

===============================================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Viscera Bucket, Welding the Flesh and Shrine of Absolution are connected in one story (pt 1, 2 and 3 respectively)

2. Most songs draw inspiration from folk stories and mythological sources

3. All songs rhyme and have poetic elements and could be read as poems

4. Shrine of Absolution is thematically based on Doom 2

5. We couldn’t do this without the massive support of our homies such as Doublespeak, Zipper, Calamity, Flying Fuzz, Toxic Ruin, Casket Robbery, reflection of flesh, ruin dweller, Zack at Barley Pop Live, Russell Hollar, Evan Yoakum, Ben Reigel, Adrenaline Mike, Primal Enemy, Knifeback, EgoDeath, and everyone and anyone who has supported. Canada’s THE WRING New Video “Fallen” Comments On The Chaos of Last Year’s Political Protests In Canada and USA

New Album “Spectra” Out Now! via WormHoleDeath Records

Releasing the third album “Spectra” this past December via WormHoleDeath Records, Sudbury, ON’s The Wring fronted by solo artist Don Dewulf with guest musician Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats), vocalist Chandler Mogel, Canadian bass superstar Reggie Hache and sessions keyboardist Isamu McGregor is sharing the next video “Fallen” in support of the full-length.

Don Dewulf explains the track:

“The theme of this was a response to the protests and civil disobedience in both Washington DC and Ottawa, Canada during the Covid pandemic. It’s incredible how a single charismatic mouthpiece can gather the rabble of humanity and shape it into a weapon. The intro is odd and staccato, my musical interpretation of crowds of rioters with no real purpose other than chaos. The main riff is simple and, I think, powerful. Love the solo and the end section on this one.”

Watch and listen to “Fallen” via its premiere on AllAboutTheRock HERE.

Don Dewulf’s project has been growing by leaps and bounds, and this new release will intrigue listeners across the heavy spectrum. “Spectra” is a bit like a 1970s King Crimson album, but without any ethereal soliloquies and certainly with a more significant hard rock/metal influence. It is a cauldron of hard rock, jazz, metal, classical, 80’s rock, 70’s rock, and probably a few other influences. It’s a vivid progressive sound that is tight, concise, and well-executed with interesting melody, rhythm, and lyrical themes.

Dewulf comments on the album:

“I called this record ‘Spectra’ because it really touches on a wide range of musical styles and themes. I think that each listener will hear something different in the compositions. The mixes are very layered with a lot of detail; you can listen to it many times and still continue to hear new things! I also like the somewhat incorrect interpretation of Spectra as the plural of Spectre as there are interesting themes that are hidden in the mix, lyrics, and artwork.”

“Spectra” was produced by Don Dewulf, mixed by Francis Perron at Radicart Studios, mastered by Yannick St-Amand, and the album artwork was done by Gord Woolley.

“Spectra” was released on December 16, 2022, via WormHoleDeath Records and is recommended listening for fans of Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Rush.

“Here’s one for prog dorks. This outfit’s third outing (Spectra) features drums by Marco Minnemann so you know the rhythms are mad. The regulars in the band ain’t slouches either though. This is intricate and melodic prog done well.” – Metal Injection

“A band composed of top artists from the world prog scene, each of whom brings their own style to the band’s sound. Technique and energy, melodic passages, dynamic and expressive vocals and elaborate instrumental sections characterise the album. A recommended listen for all lovers of Progressive Metal sounds, an album to listen to again and again, always managing to give us positive emotions.” – Progressive Rock Journal

“Tired of prog metal bands who fire away odd rhythms, fast solos and complex arrangements? Half of them trying to sound like Dream Theater but all failing completely? Look no further. The Wring from Canada offers great musicians who find their own way through the prog metal jungle. I said great musicians and I really stand for that. Or how about Marco Minneman (drums), Chandler Mogel (vocals), Don Dewulf (guitars), Reggie Hache (bass, keyboards) and Isamu McGregor (keyboards)”… Sometimes they are a bit more commercial, like in the first song ”Stiletto”, reminding me a lot of Threshold. Other songs bring a bombastic wall of sound, with riffs do die for – ”The Wolf” is a great example. The early parts of ”Fallen” has some Rush vibes (of the later and more rock base Rush era) and also softer parts Mogel is a very good vocalist, and he can alter his voice a lot. Something of a voice chameleon!” – Melodic.net

“The opening notes of ‘Sins’ remind me of the opening salvo in Judas Priest’s ‘The Ripper’. Some of the riff structures are also reminiscent of Priest and it’s another great track.” – TheProgSpace

“The third album Spectra by the Canadian progressive rock project The Wring is downright infectious with its joy of playing and catchy Hard Prog Rock songs. There really is a lot of light and very little shadow here.” – Soundmagnet
