Releasing their sixth album “Hasta El Final!” this past March via Rockshots Records, Bad Bones have a new music video to rock out your summer out to. Entitled “Libertad”, it’s an epic and powerful song that brings to mind the Hagar-era Van Halen and the Scorpions.

“We don’t always get what we want, living leads us to many compromises, but when we go out and about, all we want is to be free, break the chains, and resist daily disappointments.” adds the band.

Watch “Libertad” at https://youtu.be/DoEof2FtWII

Influenced by NWOBHM to the LA street rock scene, Bad Bones was formed in 2007. The band has made a name for themselves with tours across Europe along with making the move from Italy to LA in 2009 to make a foothold in the USA until returning to their home country in 2010. Over the years, the band has consistently toured the USA and Europe with appearances at events such as the Hollywood Rock Convention, Italian Gods of Metal, and Metalitalia Festival along with supporting bands like Steel Panther, Hardcore Superstar, Crucified Barbara, Entombed, Gotthard, Crazy Lixx, Strana Officina and more.

True Metal Magazine named “Bad Bones” the Best Hard Rock band of the year for 2010 along with Metal Hammer Italy awarding “Demolition Derby” the Best Album of The Year for 2016.

A musical amalgamation of blues, punk, classic rock, and heavy metal, Bad Bones’ latest offering “Hasta El Final!” is a powerful record, that shakes your bones and must be listened to in one go, in its entirety, just like taking a shot of whiskey, throw it down and then enjoy it while it warms your guts.

“The sound of the band has changed since the beginning, the first album “Small-town Brawlers” was very raw, it sounded almost punk in some ways, in 2012 when Max Malmerenda joined the band, who has an amazing and very melodic voice, a process had begun that led us to write albums more on the 80s hard rock side like “Demolition Derby” in 2016, today, with the return of Mekk we have found a more powerful sound and we have several songs that we could define as heavy metal. We want Hasta El Final! to hit you like a punch in the face, we had this in mind, make it compact and powerful, we didn’t use samples, nor quantized/triggered fake drums, everything was played live, even the overdubs were kept to a minimum, and we wanted to keep the fierce spirit of our first albums.” says the band.

Making uncompromising rock that is meant to be loud in volume and make ya sweat in the pit, Bad Bones give listeners classic old-school rock n’ roll fun. Their lyrics reflect the things they see and hear, from memories, and life experiences, but also from movies or places they’ve been, there have many sources of inspiration that fans can clearly relate to.

“Bad Bones have harnessed all the great sounds of the 80’s and brought it into the present. These guys just have that element that instantly grabs people and gets you going. They have the high gain distorted guitar sound with catchy riffs full of hard rock and blues. The leads are flashy and tight as well. They have a great rhythm section and every song is packed full of melody. They have a sound that is reminiscent of Trixter, Whitesnake, Def Leppard and Mr. Big, This album is 100% awesome form start to finish. Demolition Derby is already top of my play list and with one listen it will be on the top of yours. “The Dirty Room – USA)

“Bad Bones liefert sauber eingespielten, klassischen Hardrock amerikanischer Art. Knackige Gitarren, solider halbhoher Gesang, satter Groove und dieser nicht unerhebliche 80er-Touch sorgen für Stimmung sowie Gefühlswallungen in Richtung Sunset Strip. Man kann die Herren getrost zwischen rockigen Trixter, Hardline, Firehouse und Whitesnake platzieren – und selbst dann findet sich immer noch die eine oder andere Truppe, die man ebenfalls mit dem Stil der Italiener in Verbindung bringen könnte” – Classic Rock Deutschland

” … Over the years, the Bad Bones have become the nicest thing of hard rock of our country” – Simone Sacco – Metal Hammer Italy

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

Management and Booking – Tom Emmans at Atriaofficial[@]gmail.com

For fans of Slipknot, Mudvayne, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Tool

“We’ve definitely gotten more aggressive, we always wanted to blend a lot of melody and anthemic chorus’ with brutality. I feel like the fans will agree that on this new one, we’ve gotten much better at doing that. Lyrically, there’s a lot of anger towards not only myself but the world we live in. I try to be hopeful, but I also try to dig into what’s making me angry. It’s therapeutic and cathartic, but it’s really hard. It comes from a real place and it’s not always fun. We hope when fans hear “Ground Zero” from beginning to end, they feel as if they are being exorcised. from the frustration of life.” – Vocalist Tom Emmans – Atria

Forest City London, ON Music Awards –  Best Metal Band – 2023

“Atria are from Ontario, Canada, and ‘New World Nightmare’ is their debut EP and what a little gem it is… Atria were a very nice surprise this month and are now band I will be looking out for in the future, because a full album of material this good will be very special. 9/10 – Power Play Magazine UK

“As this is the bands first outing, it is a strong start. I can see them being part of a regular playlist of mine as they are the exact kind of band I listen to. Metalcore is a very selective genre when it comes to what is involved, with bands drifting away from it every day. Atria have found the spot they want and are already planting their feet into the ground of the Canadian metalcore scene. I can see these guys playing a huge festival in the near future.” – Canadian Beats

“Citing Tool, Slipknot and Lamb of God as primary influencers, Canadian rookies Atria get the blood rushing on their inaugural EP. Despite inhabiting that familiar sonic sphere, it’s how they mystically stitch melodic passages with headbanging sequences that elevate them above the chaff. Scrumptious sonic trimmings are merely icing on the industrial cake. Yet at only four songs this searing thunderbolt of heavy metal domination serves mostly as a down payment on future excellence. Mosh on.” – Music Connection

“this is definitely a band to keep an eye out for when they release a full-length.” – Metal Temple

“A Canadian act willing to fuse together elements of melodic death and modern metal to pummel your senses, Atria unleash a fierce and engaging debut four-song EP with New World Nightmare.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The fact is that Atria, apart from all influences and using all influences, delivers a nice calling card with New World NIghtmare that we can do with for the time being. However, it is a business card that is neatly stored until further notice. I’m sold.” – Rock Portaal

The EP as a whole:
There’s a lot of anger towards not only myself but the world we live in. I try to be hopeful, but I also try to dig into what’s making me angry. It’s therapeutic, cathartic, but it’s really hard.  It comes from a real place and it’s not always fun.

Track By Track explained:

1. Ground Zero is the moment that you first pray to God and realize that there will never be an answer.

2. Antiheroes is about losing faith in the government and media.

3. Dysmorphia is about body dysmorphia and the way the media will sell you a dream that will never come true.

4. Just a Number is about knowing how hard you work every day, you’re nothing more than a cog in a machine and it’s all pointless.

5. The Brightest Lights is a lullaby to my unborn dead child.

EPK – Black Pestilence – Chaotic Wisdom (2023)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“We knew that following up “Hail the Flesh” would be a tall order. Fortunately, we think we delivered on this album and the fans will get the same infectious sound this band is known for but with a different style of production. For ‘Chaotic Wisdom’ we unleashed seven Satanic d-beat anthems. It is the result of three years of writing and recording and is the pinnacle of the Black Pestilence catalog. Similar to previous releases, this album is fast, infectious, and straight to the point. However, experimentation with dissonant tones, industrial electronics, and auxiliary percussion was emphasized to a greater degree on this album. “Chaotic Wisdom” is not a stylistic change from Black Pestilence, but represents an elevation to the next level of chaotic noise!”  – Black Pestilence

For fans of Midnight, Toxic Holocaust, Impaled Nazarene, Acidez

Band Name: Black Pestilence

““Crushing” is indeed the first word that comes to mind when hearing the massive mauling tones of the riffs, like rock being excavated by some humongous machine. That machine drives forward with snapping punk beats, laced with a sinister yet glorious guitar melody. The music itself also becomes more vicious as the riffs start rapidly jabbing and then seething. But the music also channels darker and more despairing moods, before those two solos kick up the pulse and transform the music into an experience of evil ecstasy. The thing turns out to be a very catchy beast too.” – The Devil’s Connection (single) – No Clean Singing

“I seriously can’t get enough of this. It’s big, nasty, and as rough as a badger’s arse. The black energy it creates is like a massive middle finger to the world and it says – you don’t like me, you don’t like my music or all the things I stand for – go and fuck yourself! This is real and this is as honest as it gets. Fantastic – more, please! 9/10” – My Global Mind

“weave in some catchy hooks and melody especially on “Chaos of Carnality” and “The Devil’s Connection,” songs I can easily imagine crowds shouting along to.” – The Metal Crypt

“They get straight to the point on ‘Mortal Rift’ and I will say immediately that if you like Midnight, Venom and Hellripper then this will be right up your street. It’s loud, it’s vulgar, it’s fast, it’s filthy dirty and chaotic – give me more! Valax bangs his bass for the intro to ‘A Life Of Evil’ and is soon joined by the razor-sharp guitar of Daniel Toews and the powerhouse rhythms of Davey Hellfire. This is relentless and pummelling so much so that you can’t help banging your head. 9/10” – Jace Media Music

“These Canadian metallers have returned with their seventh full-length offering, executing a unique blend of chaotic black metal and punk rock with electronic samples and catchy, shorter song lengths. This album, the result of three years of work, presents seven satanic-esque anthems that push the boundaries of their signature sound. While retaining their fast and infectious style, Chaotic Wisdom, also experiments with dissonant tones, industrial electronics, and auxiliary percussion, taking Black Pestilence’s chaotic noise to the next level. The album, mixed and mastered by Sacha Laskow, features artwork by Juha Vuorma, making it a must-listen for black metal enthusiasts, particularly fans of Impaled Nazarene, Acidez, and Midnight.” – Metal Insider

“While speed or thrash metal to the core, there’s a bit of punk about Black Pestilence. The band dances the fine line between thrash and punk with a destructive ease. That thrash punk blend can be heard in “Infernal Might” featuring Mark Russell and closing track “Animus”. And before one knows it, Chaotic Wisdom is over. It clocks in at a mere twenty-four minutes. Get distracted and you might not hear the entire album and that would be quite a shame. As fast as it is, Chaotic Wisdom is quick, melodic, and a great listen. MUST LISTEN TRACKS: “The Devil’s Connection”, “Aspect of Darkness”, “Infernal Might”, “Animus””  – Amplify The Noise

Black Pestilence has its own approach to Black Metal, blending a raw, Punk-influenced base with strange futuristic elements. Chaotic Wisdom is very short, but provides a good overview of the band’s rage.” – Acta Infernalis

“Maintaining its Mad Max side, primitive and low-brow, Black Pestilence offers us a significantly more modern and exalted version of its furious mixture bathed in d-beat, Toxic Holocaust and Venom. Many new followers should easily join their cult.” – Eklektik Rock

“Blackened thrashy stuff with a little groove.” – Moshpit Radio 89.9 FM (Madison, WI)

“Black Pestilence has created another great record and it only takes about twenty-five minutes for you to fall in love with it as well.” – Abaddon Magazine

“Black Pestilence come from Canada, have a thriving record career behind them and today, confining their acid inspiration in just twenty five minutes, they hammer us until we lose consciousness with this ‘ Chaotic Wisdom ’. Their overbearing proposal – that combines thrash, punk and black metal – has caught our attention from the very first listening, accomplices a compositional liveliness and a muscular production that truly do justice to what musically gave birth to this interesting power trio.” – Loud And Proud

“The album is moving forward at an irreconcilable pace, and thanks to less traditional influences, among which we can further count the HCpunk singing of the guest Mark Russell ( Citizen Rage ), it becomes a devilishly baked stylish delicacy.” – Metal Forever

“they play a raw and devilish kind of punk metal which mixes d-beat destruction in the vein of BROKEN BONES and early DISCHARGE with a first wave black metal touch. If Satan’s into crust punk, he’d be into this bunch.” – Wormwood Chronicles

==============================================================

“A recent discovery that has tickled the excitement nerves in my jaded and encrusted ear drums is Calgary’s Black Pestilence. Their take on black metal incorporates old-school thrash and punk and if you listen closely you can hear the smatterings of plain ol’ rock ‘n’ roll and swaths of noise and is a sound that has been explored and nurtured since the band formed as a one-man project in 2008. The band’s handlers claim those fans of Toxic Holocaust, Impaled Nazarene, Municipal Waste, Midnight and Cradle of Filth unconcerned with genre boundaries will enjoy Black Pestilence and we have to say the nail has certainly been hit on the head in that regard. Additionally, fans of image and theatrics will find value in the band’s aesthetic which owes to a collision of black metal, goth rock and Judas Priest’s wardrobe and fashion sense. ” – Decibel Magazine

“Hail the Flesh is a nice, quick, in and out style album. There’s no messing around, there’s no overly extended bridges or songs that overstay their welcome. This is a 9 track album that only spans 34 minutes of constant, hard hitting riffs, blasts, and downright aggressive and dominative vocals. Even the final track on the album, “Ephemeral”, which nearly reaches 7 minutes in play time feels fresh the whole way through. ” – Metal Injection

“an album that really has a surprisingly wide range within the black/thrash/punk style so if you love that sort of black and roll aggressive metal, then “Hail The Flesh” will be an album for you.” – The Rockpit

“Calgary, Canada’s Black Pestilence bring a fresh take to the sound, though. Hail The Flesh, the band’s sixth full-length album is a blackened crossover punk-thrash album. It sounds old school, yet very 2000s at the same time…. Municipal Waste, Impaled Nazarene, Toxic Holocaust fans take notice.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“They really don’t have another gear beyond ‘top’ which makes for a splitting headache of heavy but one that satisfies. After all there are only 9 tracks and as Godless spits and snarls, Frauds to the Throne exudes filthy groove, My Will to Power rages hard and Ephemeral drags the suffering out, the over-riding thought is Black Pestilence have impressed.” 8/10 – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Honestly, anyone with the remotest interest in Black ‘n’ Thrash, Black ’n’ Roll or even just plain old Thrash is going to love this album. It is a blisteringly addictive listen. The skilfully fluid ways that all these genres are melded is both brilliant and compelling as well as being lyrically inspiring.” – MetalTalk.net

“First things first, it’s not every day you hear black metal as fun as this! That is partly because of the exciting thrash and not-so-serious punk influences, but also because the songwriting is very strong. ” 4/ 5 – The Independent Voice

“dirty, punky Black/Thrash that occasionally makes feedback noises and consistently slaughters everything in its path.” 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“Hail The Flesh fast heavy hit the pit punch you in the throat speed death metal madness.” – Ripple Music

“They can smash extremely well, and their blend of black metal aesthetic with punk attitude is a perfect fit ” – 4/5 – Deaf Sparrow

“a musical union of black / thrash & punk that just rock ROCK! I give 9 out of 10 Hellfire points” – Hellfire Magazin

“Bringing a sonic assault to listeners…..” – Permafrost Today

“The infusion of punk attitude into black and thrash metal seems almost natural at times, but few carry it off with such a sense of melody and catchiness as Black Pestilence. Their heady mix of 80s skate thrash, punk attitude and a black metal sheen allows ‘Hail the Flesh’ to be an album that you’ll still be humming in 6 months time. Superb” – The Killchain Blog

“This album just fucking rocks, it’s an absolute blast. The riffs are raging, loud, and in your face, the bass lines are groovy and lighting fast. The evil screamed vocals talk of Satanism and giving into life’s many vices with no shame. This is complete with sweet black metal blastbeats galore. If you’re looking to cut loose with a kickass metal record, absolutely throw this on.” Zax Record Reviews

The Album as a whole:

“Chaotic Wisdom” is Satanic d-beat. The music is formulated around typical punk rock song structures, while being projected through the playing style of black metal. Greater emphasis was placed on the samples used on this album in the form of additional percussion and cacophonous electronics. Many of the song lyrics touch base on various themes related to Satanic philosophy, societal stratification, and general debauchery.

Track by Track explained:

1. Mortal Rift addresses the stratification within society. The weight of the arrogant will ultimately bring all of society down. This song begins with a quick samples-only intro which eventually leads into a d-beat sonic assault.

2. A Life of Evil touches base upon the LaVeyan concept of non-conformity. Fear is the ultimate driver in order to overcome complacency. This song is exactly what you would expect to hear from Black Pestilence: fast, to the point, and catchy.

3. The Devil’s Connection addresses the advantages of having an open mind. As esoteric as some scenarios might be, it will allow one to adapt to any situation. This song is slower and creates a darker atmosphere compared to many of the other songs on the album. It is also the only one to feature bass and guitar solos.

4. Chaos and Carnality is a song which describes the lust for a particular lady who shares the same values of a rebellious nature. Sonically, this song is driven heavily by palm-muted guitars and auxiliary percussion.

5. Aspect of Darkness focuses on the ironic progression of Christianity over the years. What once started as a vision of man has now taken on a life of its own. This is the only song written by Daniel Toews on the album. It features much more intricate instrumentation compared to the other songs.

6. Infernal Might reflects on the concept of a third side to all situations. It’s never one side or the other. There is always a third side. This song specifically addresses the obvious division we have seen in society in regards to a multitude of issues that have arisen in the last couple of years. It also features a guest vocalist, Mark Russell from Citizen Rage. Valax and Mark’s vocals offer a nice contrast throughout the song to give it the perfect vocal blend of black metal and punk rock.

7. Animus speaks about the idea that someone or something can be a motivating factor in order to achieve one’s own personal pinnacle. This is the longest song on the album and utilizes a plethora of electronic samples including modulated synths and auxiliary percussion.

Fun Facts – Story Angles:

1. On the very last show of The Deep East of Europe Tour 2018, we played at an anarchist punk bar in Vienna. The show was running late and everything seemed a bit unorganized. Just before it was our turn to play, we went backstage and proceeded to get ready as usual. Once it was time for us to proceed to the stage we realized the door to the backstage only opened from the outside. We were stuck backstage! Additionally, we had no reception either in there so we couldn’t even call our tour manager. We were in there for at least an extra 20 minutes before the sound guy opened the door and told us not to close the door. Thankfully there were no complaints about the delay and the crowd was super excited about our set. Someone even brought their dog into the pit!

2. Somewhere in the middle of the 2018 European tour, Daniel (guitarist), got food poisoning. This also happened right at the time when we had some long overnight drives. I remember when we arrived at our next show in Suceava, he was as pale as a ghost and could barely keep his head up. Just before it was our turn to play, I told him that he didn’t need to play and we would just do a bass, drums, and vocals set. He was in no condition to play at all. But despite my offer, he picked his head up and said, “I didn’t fly across the world to cancel now.” After which, he put on his mask and proceeded to the stage. Of course, he wasn’t energetic at all on stage that night, but he still played flawlessly.

3. In 2016 we toured Europe for the first time. It was done completely on our own with no managers or agency support, pure DIY. We had a few mishaps throughout the tour. On the second date of the tour, our vehicle was broken into. A bass, mask, and stage clothes were stolen. Fortunately, we were able to borrow a bass and make a cheap mask for the duration of the tour. It was definitely a learning experience. If the parking lot looks sketchy, it probably is!

4. During our 2016 tour of Europe, we were denied entry at the Croatian border. They gave us the run-around and simply tried to push us aside and made us wait in eternal limbo while they allowed other travelers entry into the country. After some deliberation, they decided to check our vehicle and claimed we were unable to enter because they thought we were going to sell our amps in the country. So we turned around and went back to the Serbian border and bribed a guard to hold our amps in his office. After this, the Croatian guards allowed us to enter the country. Once the show finished that night, we raced back to the Serbian border to grab our amps in hopes they didn’t sell them off. Fortunately, the amps were still there and all went as planned. Both of these mishaps are mentioned in our song, D.I.Y. 666.

In the winter of 2008, Black Pestilence was formed in Calgary, Canada by bassist/vocalist Valax. Initially, Black Pestilence started as a one-man studio project, but years afterward, it evolved into a three-piece band. In the winter of 2008, Black Pestilence emerged from the frozen, windswept prairies of Canada, conjured by bassist/vocalist Valax. Initially, Black Pestilence was a one-man studio project, but years afterward, it evolved into a three-piece band and remains in that form. Over time, Black Pestilence has become known for an instantly recognizable sound that combines black metal, punk rock, and noise. To date, the band has released six full-length albums and two EPs. This impressive discography expands this year with “Chaotic Wisdom”, which further expands on lyrical themes including LaVeyan Satanism, current events, social issues, and the glorification of the epicurean lifestyle. Valax shares his thoughts on the first single off the album, “The Devil’s Connection”:

“The Devil’s Connection addresses the advantages of having an open mind. As esoteric as some scenarios might be, it will allow one to adapt to any situation. ”

According to Valax, fans will get the same infectious sound this band is known for but with a different style of production. On this album, it sounds a bit darker and more analog. For example, they used various different mic techniques for recording the guitars which added a very different overall sound. Each member of the trio spent more time recording their parts which results in a much better performance than the last album.

Black Pestilence started out as very chaotic black metal with small hints of punk rock and lots of noise. After, it slowly evolved into a punk rock structure with black metal vocals. Now it is much more catchy with shorter song lengths. Their chaotic black metal ’n’ roll is recommended for fans of Midnight, Toxic Holocaust, and Impaled Nazarene.

Watch and listen to their music video for “The Devil’s Connection” via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

Their forthcoming album “Chaotic Wisdom” is due out on September 8, 2023, and available for pre-order at https://blackpestilence.bandcamp.com.

Montreal, QC – July 7, 2023

ROCKSHOTS RECORDS – RAINING NAILS Introduces Their Heavy Metal “Anthem”

Debut Album “Human Deeds” Out October 2023

Italy’s Raining Nails ft. members of Eternal Silence, Fallen Arise, Oracle Sun, and Sound Storm will be releasing their debut album “Human Deeds” later this year via Rockshots Records.

To introduce their catchy, aggressive, and powerful heavy metal, they are unveiling their first single “Anthem”. Vocalist Marika Vanni goes into further detail.

“When Max played this track for me, I was struck by the energy it exuded. I have to say that I was afraid that I couldn’t find the right words to express what the music had conveyed to me. I was thinking and thinking about what I could write, and then it was like suddenly waking up. I found myself laughing to myself and thinking, “Hey, but this song is about us!” And this “us” is not just about the members of the Raining Nails; it encapsulates the lives of underground musicians who elbow their way in so that their voices can be heard; it’s about all the men and women who tread this earth and day in and day out struggle to be able to get by and survive.”

“Anthem” can be heard via its lyric video at https://youtu.be/GT09Y9EfN7c

Digital – https://bfan.link/rn-anthem

Featuring 10 tracks of power and symphonic-influenced heavy metal, Raining Nails’ debut album “Human Deeds” was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by bassist Massimiliano Flak at Evolution Recording Studios in Turin (Italy) www.evolutionstudios.it, with album artwork and booklet designed by Caio Caldas at www.cadiesart.com based on a concept from the band. All lyrics were written by Alessia Scolletti, except Anthem by Marika Vanni and Close To You by Massimiliano Flak.

“The album is not really a concept record but all the songs have something to share. This album talks about the bad situation of the world, but also keeps a light of hope for the future. You can clearly see what we mean by looking through the artwork. I took care of all the production of this record, the guys gave their best and their performance on it is just amazing. I will never stop thanking Marika, Mattia, and Giacomo for the great job they did. I think our overall goal was to create songs that punch people’s heads and shake their hearts. What’s better than heavy metal to reach this goal?” adds Flak.

Creating something that was particularly close to their hearts, Raining Nails is trying to make listeners more involved in their ideas and emotions. Fans of bands such as Battle Beast, Powerwolf, and Kamelot are highly recommended to check out “Human Deeds” when it’s released on October 27th, 2023.

A punch in the face is coming right at ya’ in the form of Rockin’ Engine’s “Altered By Evil”. This will be their third studio offering and fans will notice huge musical growth, it is more technical, and more refined, but punchy and heavy as Hell! After the release of 2020’s “The Wretched And The Damned” the band knew exactly what direction they wanted to go in and buckle up, because they are taking listeners on a rock n’ roll road trip. “Altered By Evil” is creepy and dark, and full of horror, and also creative, fun and theatrical, and the band is sure fans will eat it up, they continue to share their thoughts:

““Altered By Evil” is a tribute to everything we love about horror movies and serial killer documentaries. There’s a fascination behind the love of the macabre and the grotesque that we wanted to explore with our lyrics and expose different nuances of some classic works of art. With this record, we’re bringing the audience into a fantasy world of monsters and evil spirits, with a dash of historical elements that makes the listening experience even more interesting.”

The band members cite the great relationship they have with each other as being key to producing this deadly album despite having several obstacles to overcome during its creation. This EP is a true reflection of their evolution, not only as musicians but also spiritually. They add that bringing their love for horror to life and living their cinematic fantasies is the greatest gift they could have.

Like a tsunami making its way to the shore, Rockin’ Engine is gaining momentum with each new release. They started soft a few years back, but are getting heavier and stronger as they evolve together. Their music gets heavier and darker each day and this EP’s producer Joe Lyko at Dark Moon Productions captures their essence expertly.

Put your pedal to the floor and run the motor high with “Altered By Evil”, which is highly recommended for fans of Megadeth, Slayer, and Lamb Of God.

“There’s a scathing, contemporary thrash quality throughout the song “Libre Ex-Mortis” that brings to mind Lamb Of God musically while juxtaposed against melodic vocals that are almost pop-like in the vein of Night Demon. This contrast is interesting and most notable on “Monsters Under Your Bed” because of the interplay between the beaming vocals and the slick, pseudo-death metal barrage. Considering the accessible sounds, it’s obvious that the Canucks seek commercial success should that path become available to them. However the cookie may crumble in time, “Altered By Evil” is an enjoyable release for those who don’t mind aspects of the popular side of modern metal.” – Metal Underground

“The fusion of hard rock, thrash, and modern groove metal gives Rockin’ Engine potential to appeal to numerous audiences based on the material present with Altered by Evil. Standing on the precipice of glory, this quartet could be valuable to most label rosters based on the talent and quality songwriting delivered here. 8/10” – Dead Rhetoric

“The Shining inspired “Room 185” finds the band joined by Steph Jomphe of Insurrection fame for a cut that brings the blood stained curtain down in style. The riffs hit like tidal waves, the percussion from Joel Bilodeau absolutely huge and the mix from Dark Moon Productions absolutely nailed to perfection [8.5/10]” – Metal Noise

“Unlike others who choose to combine their love of horror and metal, what makes Rockin’ Engine stand out is they’re not winking at us here. These are tracks inspired by horror, both fiction and non-fiction, and moulded around Rockin’ Engine’s thrash sound. They’ve not adapted their music to fit the horror, it’s the other way around. 8/10” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Heavy, powerful and charismatic, “Altered By Evil” is by far their best work. Look forward to the hell Rockin’ Engine will ignite wherever they perform. If Gojira, Lamb Of God and Rob Zombie had a child, Rockin’ Engine would be their bastard son. Their fusion of hard rock and thrash metal will set any stage ablaze and leave everyone with bad whiplash.” – Amplified Mag

“This is obviously a band that knows how to play to their strengths. As the subject matter changes for each song, The Exorcist, The Evil Dead, The Shining, etc.. so does the music. Not drastically, you can still tell it’s the same band, but it keeps everything nice and fresh through the release. Six tracks over a 30-minute period is about right… other bands take note… Quality over quantity wins it for me every time. This is as good as anything I hear from mid-sized labels over here in Europe. The fact that this is a self-release tells you how fucked our industry is as this really deserves a bigger and more widespread audience that’ll probably get. Puck this up on July 7th.” – Smorg Mag

“Although the band is often labeled a Heavy Metal band on the album’s opening notes, we clearly feel more violent influences than heavy, we could almost put them on the border of Thrash. So the band proposes an album having an identity that is its own while trying to renew the style, the prod while being modern does not fall into the cliché of the over-auction and the crossing of different styles gives an excellent result so you can be tight be surprised to hear a riff or beat that could very well have been in the middle of a death album to which the band add a brilliant voice for a very convincing result. We’ll wait to see the sequel to know if the group will want to lead, even if we don’t really know where the group wants to go, it’s a refreshing approach to them.” – Metal In Veins

Montreal, QC – July 6, 2023

AUGURIUM Takes A Fresh Look At Canadian Death Metal With “Ancient Grimoire”

New Album “Unearthly Will” Out August 2023

Canada’s Augurium was formed in the summer of 2015 by like-minded individuals who have a drive and a thirst for heavy, filthy riffs and low guttural screams. Augurium quickly completed their line-up and played their first show supporting Evilheart (Mexico) and jumped into the studio to record their debut EP “Omen” along with touring throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. Their first full-length “Unhallowed Ascendance” was unleashed in 2018 and was a stepping stone of straight-up brutal death metal for the band. Evolving over the years, along with a new lineup, their sound has transformed now into a more refined, darkened, carefully crafted monstrous offering with their sophomore album “Unearthly Will” this coming August 2023.

“Unearthly Will” was a challenging, yet rewarding one for Augurium. All of the writing and recording was done remotely by each individual member at their homes (3 members in Saskatchewan – Regina, Saskatoon and 2 members in British Columbia). Their independent technical knowledge and their constant communication with each other of the quintet made this project come to fruition naturally.

The first single off the forthcoming album is “Ancient Grimoire”, a haunting and guttural monstrosity. The band explains more:

“Musically this was the first time we’ve ever introduced any form of clean singing into an Augurium song. Although it’s blended with some very evil and filthy guttural lines, it’s honestly haunting when you hear all of the vocal lines paired with the orchestral background pieces. Lyrically there is a theme of finding synchronicities between books across a wide variety of authors and time periods in an abstract fashion.”

“Unearthly Will” is a fresh take on what Canadian death metal has to offer. With slamming riffs in a variety of time signatures and genre-blending aspects, over a finely executed percussion and rhythm section. It is recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Septicflesh, and Belphegor.

In addition to the full-length’s release, Augurium will be setting off on tour in August and September with select Western Canadian dates. (listed below)

“This project has been an awesome journey and a welcome challenge to create over the past 2 years. All of our experiences have been absorbed and expressed within the walls of sound. As a tapestry is weaved together, each day as a thread towards the colossal effort that went towards this death metal release. We feel that this new album is a fresh take on what we have to offer to Canadian death metal. With slamming riffs in a variety of time signatures and genre-blending aspects, over a finely executed percussion and rhythm section. “Unearthly Will” brings out our expression of old and new references within the world of heavy metal. We hope that our listeners enjoy this album for what it is, and perhaps join us when we perform in your area.” – Cejay/Yianni – Augurium

======================================================================

Fun Facts – Story Angles:

1. – We were playing somewhere in Alberta during the summer of 2018 and it was after a gig, we were all starving and had one too many adult beverages and ended up spending $50 on single cheeseburgers and McDonald’s and when we woke up, we noticed we accidentally “borrowed without returning” the serving tray. It ended up being a tour token and everyone who played on the tour signed it and it’s currently hanging up on the Augurium wall w/ an abundance of show posters and scrimp.

2 – Augurium is the Latin translation for Omen which we titled our first studio effort.

3 – Change your guitar strings. Nothing is more “embarrassing” than the FOH engineer/sound guy putting the jeopardy theme on while your bandmates try to make up some banter while you are rushing to change your broken string mid-set.

======================================================================

The album as a whole:

It is a culmination of core ideas that remain consistent and brutal yet experimental. It brings a dark musical aspect to lyrical themes of light and inner thought processes.

Track by Track explained:

1. Inquisition of the Possessed – Musically – This is by far our most complex piece on the album. It starts off very fast-paced and keeps that same momentum throughout the song. The band is firing off on all cylinders for this song. Lyrically – Attempting to dispel misconceptions about religion, and to promote inner discernment.

2. Phantom Parallax – This is a very rhythm-based song that calls back to the intro chord numerous times, we find this song also has the heaviest breakdown on the album. Straight-up filth. Musically – Lyrically – Meditations on the possible connection between the living and the dead, and possession.

3. Sanguine  – Musically – it was the first song we wrote when the idea of Augurium reforming came around. It’s got a blend of the older sound with the new sound and is the most distinct sounding on the album when it comes to our old style.

Lyrically – Themes of finding inner peace through self-actualization and connection to ancestral sources.

4. Ancient Grimoire – Musically – This was the first time we’ve ever introduced any form of clean singing into Augurium. It offers a very haunting feel paired with a guttural monstrosity to make it a beautifully ugly offering. Lyrically – A theme of finding synchronicities between books across a wide variety of authors and time periods in an abstract fashion.

5. Inceptus Mysteria – Musically – This song is one of our more heavily orchestrated songs that has a very big black metal influence. It blends the newer style of orchestra and blackened riffs with the old-school chunky and tremolo-picked riffs.  Lyrically – So much beauty and knowledge can be found deep within the ocean, yet the human race can do nothing but destroy and harvest its riches.

6. Unearthly Will – Musically – This song is one of the more melodic songs on the album. From the beginning through to the two solo sections it is filled with harmony and tremolo notes that go in sync with the orchestra. Lyrically – Acceptance of the disconnection between myself and the hateful aspects of humanity to let assimilation with nature and the divine take its place.

7. As Above… So Below Musically – This song again brings back a mixture of our older and newer sounds. It speaks to many of our personal influences and is paired with some nasty riffs. – Lyrically – Themes of rebellion against corruption, and recognition of the current A.I. revolution.

8. Invictus – Musically – One of our slower-paced songs that starts off with very dark ominous chords. The vocal lines paired with the orchestral bits create a very ominous dark atmosphere throughout the song. Lyrically – Letting go of the past, to become the person meant to fulfill your true purpose.

“Unearthly Will” is due out on August 25, 2023, and is available for pre-order at https://augurium.bandcamp.com.

Hardball is an emerging punk/grunge act from Vancouver, BC, Canada, who are set to release their debut self-titled album in July. The deadly trio of seasoned musicians is eager to play something that is uncommon these days and the new album delivers something that is reminiscent of the 90s with a modern twist amidst the punk and grunge rock chaos. The second single is “NRA”, which captures huge-sounding drums, and over-the-top-heavy, layered guitars. To them, the vibe is also very important and resulted in rerecording some sections many times trying to get the energy exactly how we wanted.

According to Hardball, the single is musically just supposed to sound completely bonkers. Drums going completely ape all over the place, obnoxious riffing, and big low-tuned power chords, the heavily distorted bass guitar holds down the main riff. Lyrically, it is an anthem about gun control. Not really even with a coherent position on the matter. Calling it NRA despite not directly having anything to do with the NRA, was a humorous take to them. Vocalist/guitarist Scott Budgie explains more:

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that the US has major social problems that have led to regular shootings. I don’t like it, and I can’t do anything about it. But, I’m going to shout about it the way a scared, confused child might. I think listeners will recognize that we’re not a nostalgia act, there is a clear influence from contemporary punk and hardcore that shows through. I think people will recognize that this is original and genuine music.”

Hardball is composed of former Poles frontman and Vancouver local Scott Budgie, as well as Okanagan residents, drummer Jeremy Head also of The Motion Picture, and bassist Jamie Black. Their self-titled album is a joint production between recording engineer Matt Roach of Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, BC (Baptists, Misery Signals, Comeback Kid) and mix engineer Felix Fung of Little Red Sounds in New Westminster, BC (Needles//Pins, Girlfriends and Boyfriends, Mode Moderne).

In support of the album, Hardball is setting out on tour this August with appearances throughout Western Canada. Full tour dates are listed below. They are recommended for fans of Wipers, Hüsker Dü, and Flipper.

MOTORJUNKIE and Exitus Stratagem Records Release Video For “Cold Barrel” Bringing Awareness To Veteran Suicide

“The Shadow In I” Out Now!

L-R – Billy Varga – Guitar, Chris Cox – Vocals, Marvin Rogers – Drums, Michael Cooper – Bass

Motorjunkie, a stalwart in the North Carolina hard rock music scene announces the release of their latest video, “Cold Barrel”. Billy Varga, guitarist, wrote the song as a tribute to his stepfather, and to raise awareness of the rampant suicide problem that plagues the nation’s military veteran population.

“My stepfather was a U.S. Army veteran who took his own life a month before we entered the studio to begin recording the EP. I wrote the song in one afternoon as a bonus track, but it became the leading track on this EP. The video chronicles the events that transpired the afternoon my stepfather made the fateful decision that ended his life. If we can help save just one life through this song and video, we will have done our job.”

We provide resources at the end of the video for those struggling with depression or dark thoughts.

Born out of the southern biker scene, Motorjunkie is popular among rock fans, motorcycle enthusiasts, and military members. A fresh alternative to both the straight blues and the heavy metal scenes, Motorjunkie combines the best of both genres. In the 2000s their music was a bit heavier and bordered on full-out metal but has since evolved into a broader rock-centric vibe that appeals to a wider audience. There is no theme, costume, or flowery object standing in the way of Motorjunkie’s music.

Like a bad-ass American muscle car, this group only gets better with age. Fans of classic rock bands like Alice in Chains, Corrosion of Conformity, and Tool will love Motorjunkie.

“Motorjunkie has just released their third CD, Full Circle. It is an EP and contains five songs. Every song is powerful and draws the listener in. Strong vocals, aggressive guitar riffs, solid bass lines, and thunderous drums have created a masterpiece.” – Array Magazine

“Motorjunkie will be around for a long time, making us believe that rock and roll is not dead. It lives in people and breathes through bands like this. I guess you can say “I am a Motorjunkie”.” – Friction Magazine
