Alt-Metal YESTERDAY’S HERO To Release Debut Album “Ways To Hate” Out Nov 2023

+ New Music Videos “Be” & “Life So Good”

Hailing from the bogs of the black swamp, deep in the cut of corn country, Ohio’s Yesterday’s Hero is an alternative metal quintet fueled by backroad burnouts and small-town shenanigans. Blending high-energy grooves with timeless melodies, their music will make you hit repeat. Having shared the stage with bands Escape the Fate, Powerman5000, The Convalescence, and Gemini Syndrome, among many others, they will be releasing their first full-length “Ways To Hate” this coming November 2023.

Fueled by broken hearts, and personal turmoil, vocalist Chris Neller had unlimited lyrics when the band was ready to hit the studio to create the album. “Ways To Hate” features previous re-recorded tracks from their 2021 debut EP “Killing Me” along with a few new songs such as “What I Needed”, “Bounce” and the title track “Ways To Hate” to complete the seven-song album sure to get your blood pumping and moshing in the pit. The band prides itself on using raw gritty tube amps, no backing tracks or plug-ins. There is no need for a laptop as they intentionally step back from today’s norm. They explain further:

“In a digital age of singles, we are going analog and releasing an album. Why? Because when you hear a song as it finishes your head is already starting the next song. Thus must be passed on. The songs are arranged in an order specifically to create a feel. You can’t do that with singles! We write with simple intentions. Simple catchy riffs with relatable lyrics. The nostalgic taste of our music experience with a bit of new raw live sound.”

The band has two previously released singles accompanied by videos, “Be”, a song that describes the frustration of having a partner who is constantly blame-shifting, and “Life’s So Good”, a simple banger inspired by the rebirth of oneself focusing on the positive.

“Life is good and it’s even better without the pressures of trying to please someone else.” adds vocalist Chris Neller.

Both videos can be viewed and heard at the following links:

Out Now! New Music Video “Queen of Thorns” + Debut Album “Human Deeds” – RAINING NAILS (ft. members Eternal Silence, Fallen Arise, Oracle Sun, Sound Storm)

Featuring members of Eternal Silence, Fallen Arise, Oracle Sun, and Sound Storm, Italy’s Raining Nails are proud to finally unbind their 1ten tracks of power and symphonic-influenced heavy metal from the debut album “Human Deeds”, which is now available as of October 27th from Rockshots Records at bit.ly/HumanDeedsCD

To celebrate the full-length’s release, the band is sharing their new music video “Queen of Thorns”, a mysterious track, that captures and slowly pulls you into a place that seems far away, but actually lies within you, its slow whirlwind that intoxicates the mind and makes you forget the world around you, bringing you back to a primal essence.

“This song evokes in each of us deep, strong, and conflicting sensations and feelings, sharp and blurred images that intertwine into a unique and unrepeatable cocktail. I think, above all else, this is the reason why we chose it as a single.” adds bassist Massimiliano Flak.

Watch “Queen of Thorns” at https://youtu.be/3DhuRV7meOI

“Human Deeds” was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by bassist Massimiliano Flak at Evolution Recording Studios in Turin (Italy) www.evolutionstudios.it, with album artwork and booklet designed by Caio Caldas at www.cadiesart.com based on a concept from the band. All lyrics were written by Alessia Scolletti, except Anthem by Marika Vanni and Close To You by Massimiliano Flak.

“We hope that this album will be received with curiosity by future listeners, we are musicians from different bands and we each put our own ideas and origins into this project, making it an interesting recipe. Being a debut album, there is no certainty. What is for sure is that this album will also appeal to those who do not usually listen to metal. This album talks about the bad situation of the world, but also keeps a light of hope for the future. You can clearly see what we mean by looking through the artwork. We think our overall goal was to create songs that punch people’s heads and shake their hearts. What’s better than heavy metal to reach this goal?” adds the band.

Creating something that was particularly close to their hearts, Raining Nails is trying to make listeners more involved in their ideas and emotions. Fans of bands such as Battle Beast, Powerwolf, and Kamelot are highly recommended to check out “Human Deeds”.

0 Mexican Tradition and Metal Modernity Collide In Cabrakaän’s “La Cigarra” ft. Reed Alton (Osyron) Off New Album “Aztlán” Out Nov 2023

Mexican Tradition and Metal Modernity Collide In Cabrakaän’s “La Cigarra” ft. Reed Alton (Osyron)

New Album “Aztlán” Out November 17th, 2023

Photo Credit – Angela Ambrose – Lunar Ring Sound & Graphics Inc.

Canada-based Cabrakaän are originally from Mexico and even though they live far from their homeland they aspire to share the mythology, traditions, and sounds of their home country with metalheads everywhere. With their latest album “Aztlán” they hope to give their listeners an immersive experience that draws them into a different world. The concept album features a fusion of multiple genres and is representative of the cultural integration that they evoke in lyrical and musical themes. The latest single “La Cigarra” ft. Reed Alton (Osyron) is a traditional mariachi song that Cabrakaän turns into a melodic metal masterpiece. They comment:

“This song is a cover of a traditional mariachi song by Raymundo Pérez Soto. The lyrics represent the feelings an artist has whenever they sing. Their love of singing is so powerful that they are willing to die for it, just as the cicada (cigarra). The song features guest vocalist Reed Alton of melodic metal band Osyron performing a verse and some harmonies, and a guest violinist James Watson. As in the original, it’s vocally powerful – but with a distinctive metal turn.”

Cabrakaän begins the songwriting process by establishing an album theme and all the songs on an album connect with that overall theme. “Aztlán” is centered on the Spanish conquest – colonization and the defeat of Mexico’s Aztec empire, Tenochtitlán. Some songs chronicle stories from before the Spaniards’ arrival to Mesoamerica, and others draw on their rich culture that transformed from centuries of cultural fusion, which makes them who they are.

On “Aztlán” audiences can expect to hear a mature, grander version of their familiar sound that interweaves metal with symphonic and folk elements. Even though their lyrics are in multiple languages, people of all linguistic backgrounds will hear their stories through the music itself. It is recommended for fans of Amon Amarth, Megadeth, and Maria Grever.

“In the world of metal music, where genres often blend and boundaries are pushed, there emerges a band that beautifully merges traditional folk elements with the raw power of heavy metal. Enter Cabrakaän, a Mexican folk metal band on a mission to reconnect with their ancestral roots and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Mexico.” – Infrared Magazine

“CABRAKAÄN has released an amazing, fun, well-written album with influences from various folk styles aligned with Death Metal. It’s definitely one of the best releases of the year in the style and the band deserves all the attention they are getting from the media and the public. 10/10” – Metal Temple (review 2019 – Cem Anahuac My Home)

“While the band may celebrate cultures that are unknown to most Canadian metal fans, Cipäktli says live performances by Cabrakaan are an immersive experience. The band, who wear face paint and costumes to conjure up the “time of the Aztecs,” like to give audiences both a visual and sonic feast.”

-Calgary Herald: “Symphonic Metal Band Cabrakaän Brings Spirit Of Ancient Mexico To Calgary”

“The use of traditional, lesser-known instruments that rarely leave Central/South America jamming along with metal instruments – in a way that would make Ozzy Osbourne in his prime proud – is the last thing Calgary expected to experience, and yet Cabrakaän is here.”

– Calgary Journal: “Cabrakaän, Calgary’s friendly neighbourhood Mexican folk metal fusion band”

0 DEORBIT Flaunt Spacey, Instrumental Technical Aggression On “Perihelion” Off Debut Album “Retrogradient” Out Nov 10th

NEWS RELEASE

DEORBIT Flaunt Spacey, Instrumental Technical Aggression On “Perihelion”

New Album “Retrogradient” Out Nov 10th, 2023

Milwaukee, WI, USA’s Deorbit is an innovative musical project dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sonic and space exploration. With a unique blend of genres and thought-provoking compositions in their debut album “Retrogradient”, they invite listeners on a journey that traverses the vastness of the universe while celebrating the intricacies of the human experience. When asked what kind of listening experience they are trying to give listeners in both the album and the latest single “Perihelion”, multi-instrumentalist Jerry Hauppa answers:

“Ideally, depictions of the surreal aspects I had in mind when the music was written, as a song each is trying to depict a merging of the cold aspects of the expanding universe with the organic familiarity of human understanding. Given that there are no lyrics, the music intends to tell the story of each track while allowing the listener room to interpret the concepts.”

“Perihelion” – this is the term for the point in Earth’s orbit when it is closest to the sun, and Deorbit translates this into the most aggressive track on the album and it stands out as a powerhouse of riffs and technical passages that will appeal to a wide spectrum of metalheads.

Listen to “Perihelion” via its stream premiere on Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

The album “Retrogradient” is a distinctive collection of tracks that invites audiences to delve into the cosmos, where the boundaries of stone replace the vastness of the sky. Inspired by the profound words of Carl Sagan, who once said, “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself”, Deorbit‘s music and album art aim to embody this sentiment. It is recommended for those with an interest in space, extravagant riffs, and bands such as Torche, Hum, Voivod, and Atheist.

“Retrogradient” is due out on November 10, 2023, and is available for pre-order at https://deorbitmke.bandcamp.com.

DISSONA Sets Eyes And Fingers Ablaze With Performance Video For “Renaissance”

New EP “Dreadfully Distinct” Out November 10th, 2023

Dissona, the avant-garde progressive metal band from Chicago, USA is on the cusp of their third release, “Dreadfully Distinct” next month. The musical deep-dive intensely explores three Blade Runner characters and aims to appeal to both sci-fi fans and metalheads alike. The track “Renaissance” brings the 1982 film’s main character Rick Deckard into focus as the band explains:

“One of the most prominent underlying layers in this track, is the enticing question we’re presented with in the original Blade Runner film: Is Deckard a replicant? The song opens with a hazy, elemental SFX intro. Flashes of stampeding hooves come and go, perhaps those unicorns poor Deck sees in his dreams (nightmares?). We shift to an exotic instrumental section, brimming with tension tones and odd time signatures followed by an intricate, guitar-driven section, in yet another odd time signature. The colors shift to a delicate, yet strong, contrasting moment, displaying Deck’s protective spirit. His sweaty, midnight escape from LA begins…”

Through passages of impending uncertainty, exotic instrumentals, tension-inducing tones, and intricate time signatures Dissona masterfully combines elements of guitar-driven music with intentional vocals and progressive experimentation to create a unique auditory experience that mirrors the complexities of Deckard’s journey.

Watch and listen to the guitar and bass playthrough for “Renaissance” via its premiere on TheProgspace HERE.

“Dreadfully Distinct” is a three-track EP that delves deep into the lives and dilemmas of iconic characters from the Blade Runner universe. The harmonious blend of music and storytelling that captivates audiences is recommended for fans of Ne Obliviscaris, Between the Buried and Me, Cynic, and Opeth.

“Dreadfully Distinct” is due out November 10th, 2023 via Earache Distribution and is available for pre-order at the following links:

“Drawing inspiration from the Bladerunner movie series, specifically Agent K from Blade Runner 2049, “Skinjob” has an icy exterior musically, but definitely has the DNA of great mid-west electronica and industrial music inside of its veins. Their entire upcoming new EP Dreadfully Distinct, drops November 10th and follows this story.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“What I love about this band’s sound is the way in which the rolling riffs are mixed with some highly technical playing, but without becoming complex for the sake of complexity alone. David Dubenic has a very dramatic way of singing, utilising different ‘voices’. That usually puts me off, and can sound rather fake and overtly theatrical. But David has the ability to deliver it very convincingly.” – DPRP.net

“There are many bands that claim to be progressive but Dissona actually deliver as advertised. They approach their music with drive and purpose. Thus, Paleopneumatic is controlled chaos layered with strong hooks and melody but driven by a true sense of adventure.” – Progressive Music Planet

“DISSONA cradled immaculate riffery, assorted time signatures, operatic and growl vocals, keyboards and FX infused tracks, but were able to master the flow to assume total hold over the mind as the songs kept going. This is a band that needs to be heard and taken into account.” – Metal Temple

“Paleopneumatic is nothing short of impressive. Dissona have crafted a challenging release that will likely strike a chord in anyone who is partial to anything out of the ordinary.” – Metal Storm

“If Paleopneumatic isn’t the album that rockets Dissona into the progressive zeitgeist, then we may just be too undeserving of their talents.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

0 MASSIVE SCAR ERA Returns With Genre Defying “Oblivious” Off “Metal Goes Egyptian” Out November 3rd

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 26, 2023

MASSIVE SCAR ERA Returns With Genre Defying “Oblivious”

New EP “Metal Goes Egyptian” Out November 3rd, 2023

Originally from Alexandria, Egypt, Massive Scar Era has now made Canada home and the headquarters for the mystical, experimental, and enchanting music they have been making since 2004. A fragrant blend of traditional sound, metal, progressive rock, and a little bit of post-grunge, it is ultimately soulful, challenging, and refreshing. Massive Scar Era is releasing their seventh studio offering “Metal Goes Egyptian” this November and has a video ready now for their third single “Oblivious”. The band founder Cherine Amr shares her thoughts on the release:

“A rearrangement of a previously released song under the same title. I altered the way I sang the chorus to match the Arabic ornament played by the orchestra. I didn’t have to do this, but I just loved it so much that I couldn’t help not singing it. It’s a personal song, and its ending always gives me goosebumps. The song explores how people can sometimes misunderstand things without realizing it, either because they don’t have all the information or because they’re busy with other parts of their lives. It also looks at how our pride can affect how we take in information and how it can be really hard to admit when we’re wrong and face our mistakes instead of avoiding them.”

Watch and listen to “Oblivious” via its premiere on V13 HERE.

“Metal Goes Egyptian” represents a unique concept that will particularly appeal to metal enthusiasts who appreciate a diverse range of folkloric influences. With its fusion of metal and various folk elements, this EP promises an unforgettable musical journey that transcends genre boundaries.

Massive Scar Era has embarked on extensive tours throughout Europe and North America, gracing renowned stages and captivating audiences with their magnetic presence. Overcoming personal and political challenges, this band represents Amr’s tenacity and passion. She invites music enthusiasts to join Massive Scar Era on this remarkable musical journey, one that promises to ignite the imagination, evoke emotions, and leave a lasting impact. “Metal Goes Egyptian” is due out on November 3, 2023, and is recommended for fans of Aeternam, Huntress and Arkan.

KING OV WYRMS Presents Another Bleak And Chilling Chapter With “Desolation Fog”

New Album “The Womb Ov Borealis” Out Now!

L-R – Michael Oneirous Sanchez – Vocals, Guitars, Bass (Studio) – Ricky Williams – Drums

Arizona’s King Ov Wyrms once again send a cold blast of black metal across the desert with their next video “Desolation Fog” off the recently unleashed album “The Womb Ov Borealis”. This track is a heavy trudge through grim dark waters with its dragging guitars and swinging drums taking you through a walk through an ever-looming fog of decay. Multiinstrumentalist Michael Oneirous Sanchez comments:

“Desolation Fog is a track we just knew we had to present off the album, it features some of my favourite lyrics and with the accompanied imagery presented in the lyric video, it was a perfect match. Sonically, this song is unrelenting and just so damn heavy, it catches you with the swinging groove and really locks you in before Ricky amps it up with savage blast beats and his intense footwork.”

King Ov Wyrms is a two-man project between Oneirous and drummer Ricky Williams with session guest spots from Derrek Page on bass. Typically, the music originates through Oneirous in a demo format from his personal studio, from there Williams comes in and adds to the source material which is usually just a guitar-based version of the song and maybe a drum machine. Once they have an agreed direction, they layer on all the additional studio pieces like bass and vocals along with the final renditions of the guitars and drums.

A cold breath of winter awaits you with this new offering, surely a welcome feeling in the dead summer heat. “Desolation Fog” is available to listen to via its lyric video premiere on Bravewords HERE.

Recommended for fans of Dark Funeral, Goatwhore and Belphegor, King Ov Wyrms’ sophomore album “The Womb Ov Borealis” was released on October 6, 2023, and is available at https://kingovwyrms.bandcamp.com (Limited Edition CD) and Spotify.

“Lyrically, the song (To March From Darkness) narrates a hellish war on heaven, with a satanic horde bent on bringing fire and slaughter to the angelic host. Not surprisingly, there’s abundant fire and fury in the music as well. As the drums hammer the listener’s head the riffing blares and blazes in livid pulsating tones, and roils and drills in displays of cruel violence, while the vocals utter the enraged words in monstrous guttural tones and strangled snarls and screams, and wild quivering leads channel derangement. The music also brings in filaments of eerie melody that add a supernatural atmosphere, jolting body-blows, electrifying drum progressions, and a guitar solo that’s maniacally spectacular but also transforms into an expression of agony. Moreover, all the song’s changing motifs have the capacity to get stuck in the head.” – No Clean Singing

“Prepare for a dark journey into the realms of Arizona black metal.. Originally conceived as a more aggressive project by Michael Oneirous Sanchez from his main progressive metal band Pain Patterns, King Ov Wyrms delivers a darker and angrier approach recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Dark Funeral, and Goatwhore.” – Metal Insider

“an interesting evolution in their sound. Fans of experimental black metal should definitely give it a listen.” – Amplified Magazin

“Smartly, King Ov Wyrms are beginning to form their own identity and forge their own path within black and death realms. Choosing to reach into their own creative depths and pull out the ghastly innards of what their style of blackened death is. A style that delivers garish horror and unrelenting brutality in gargantuan fashion.” – Games, Brrraaains & Headbanging Life

“Death metal, brutal, with a little deathcore and blackened death too” – Mosh Pit Radio 89.9FM (Madison, WI)

What the press is saying:

“Located an hour and a half east of Calgary is the town of Drumheller, Alberta. With a population in the neighborhood of 8000 and existing smack dab in the middle of Canada’s desert and dinosaur country, it’s not a place one would immediately associate with any sort of metal scene, let alone a big-ass outdoor metal fest. But that’s where you’d be wrong. Going into its 11th year, the Loud as Hell Festival is set to roll on August 4-6th with the likes of Narcotic Wasteland, Jungle Rot and Incite headlining three days of metallic fun featuring 40 or so bands, including The Convalesence, Gorgatron, Necronomicon, Untimely Demise, Eyes of Perdition and more.” – Decibel Magazine

“Western Canada’s loudest heavy metal festival brings fans to town more known for dinos than drum solos.” – CBC Calgary

“What’s more metal than the badlands? Drumheller, AB, is known for being the dinosaur capital of the world — but it’s also the home of the Loud as Hell festival, an event celebrating none other than the loudest music known to man (and, by proxy, prehistoric reptile).” – Exclaim!

“Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment. The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metalhead fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.” – Blackfalds Life

“Headbanger alert: Loud As Hell festival to ramp up the volume” – Calgary Herald

“Nevermind the bug spray and sun tan lotion, as August approaches Drumheller residents should stock up on earplugs.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud As Hell returns to the southern Alberta city for its seventh year and as its name implies, will rock the city to its core.” – Calgary Herald

“Loud as Hell has celebrated eight years in the Badlands to date, with acts from all over the world-shattering the peace and quiet of the hills in a camping and music extravaganza.” – Hanna Herald

“Drumheller with its dinosaur bones is the site of the annual Loud as Hell heavy metal festival Friday through Sunday. Dozens of the heaviest bands known to Man will be taking the stage, many of them Canadian” – Gig City

0 Canada’s PESSIMYSTIC Unveils Album Teaser For Debut “Burnt Offering” Out End of November 2023; Produced By Topon Das (Fuck the Facts)

Canada’s PESSIMYSTIC Unveils Album Teaser For Debut “Burnt Offering” Out End of November 2023

Produced By Topon Das at Apt 2 Recording (Fuck the Facts)

L- R – Nic (Bass) | Ryan (Guitars and Vocals) | Mat (Drums)

Pessimystic is a new entity hailing from Ottawa, ON, driven by their experience with other established bands in the Canadian extreme music scene, they perform an experimental style of death metal possessed with a blackened atmosphere. Their sound bridges the chasm between dark, dissonant riffs and hook-focused compositions.

While there are no secret musicians nor hidden stories to the band, they have chosen to adopt a strictly minimalistic approach in the presentation of their music first and foremost. With a clear vision and a cohesive identity, Pessimystic intends to compose and release EPs and albums on an annual basis, building momentum fast and spreading the “Pessimystic” energy far and deep.

To introduce themselves to metal fans, they will be unleashing the debut album “Burn Offering” at the end of this coming November. The album was recorded and produced by Topon Das at Apt 2 Recording (Fuck the Facts, Deformatory, Eclipser), capturing Pessimystic‘s deep textures and organic energy. With its meshed layers of intricate technical details, “Burnt Offering” showcases both performance and dedication that the trio has to offer.

They comment about the album:

“It’s an apotropaic oblation of self-surrender through self-destruction and unity through detachment. Conceptually, “Burnt Offering” contemplates divine retribution and conjures the apocalyptic imagery enshrined in the human psyche. Under its dense and dissonant shroud, it combines the wrath and fury of death metal with the intensity and melodic echoes of black metal.”

The band intends to promote the album in front of live audiences in Ontario, Quebec, and anywhere else there may be opportunities to play live in the year to come. Two singles will be unveiled in the coming weeks in the lead-up to the album’s release.

Today, the band is sharing a teaser, album artwork, and track listing, which can be discovered below.

“Burnt Offering” is due out on November 24, 2023, and will be made available for pre-order on Pessimysticofficial.bandcamp.com
