METAL DE FACTO Unveils “Code of The Samurai” Off New Album “Land Of The Rising Sun Part. 1” Out Feb 2024

Exploding onto the metal scene in 2019, Finnish power metal band Metal De Facto made their debut with “Imperium Romanum”, a full-length with a theme-driven collection of songs about Ancient Rome that was bombastically nostalgic old-school power metal. These fresh but familiar songs quickly caught the attention of metal listeners worldwide, notably with the first single ‘¨The Conqueror’ amassing over 200,000 video views and over 600,000 streams on various streaming platforms.

In early 2020, the band held their first headlining show in Helsinki, which attracted fans from all over the world to attend the show in a packed On the Rocks club. This success quickly led the band to continue performing live, opening for prime moving metal bands Ensiferum and Beast in Black.

Consisting of guitarists Esa Orjatsalo (ex Dreamtale) and Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas), bassist Sami Hinkka (Ensiferum, ssSHhh), keyboardist Benji Klint-Connelly (Everfrost) and drummer Atte Marttinen (ex Kivimetsän Druidi). It was announced however in 2022 that former vocalist Mikael Salo (ex Thy Row, ex Dyecrest) would no longer be the band’s singer. On the same day, the band’s new vocalist Aitor Arrastia hailing from Spain was announced along with the announcement of the band’s upcoming second full-length album, Land of the Rising Sun Part 1. The album will be the first of two parts, themed after Japanese culture.

To preview their sophomore record “Land Of The Rising Sun Part. 1,” Metal De Facto is unveiling the first single “Code of The Samurai”, a triumphant anthem, a testament to their signature power metal sound. Epic and resounding, the single exhibits the band’s unparalleled musical craftsmanship revealing at the same time its new partnership with new vocalist Aitor Arrastia. It captures the essence of their celebrated style, fueling anticipation for their forthcoming concept album.

“‘Code of the Samurai’ was one of the first songs we composed for the new album so it felt like a good choice as the first single. We already played the song live and seeing people raise their fists in the chorus, promises that this will become a great song for the future gigs. And if you think about it, what could be a better start to a two-album journey into the glorious history and culture of Japan, than a ride into battle with the heroic and noble samurai? adds bass player Sami Hinkka.

“Code of The Samurai” promises an immersive, powerful journey, upholding the band’s legacy and captivating listeners with its compelling narrative and epic prowess with timeless power metal essence. Let’s make Power Metal Great Again!

0 Searing The Extreme PESSIMYSTIC’s Album “Burnt Offering” Makes Its Blistering Debut; Produced By Topon Das (Fuck the Facts)

Searing The Extreme PESSIMYSTIC’s Album “Burnt Offering” Makes Its Blistering Debut

L- R – Nic (Bass) | Ryan (Guitars and Vocals) | Mat (Drums)

Searing death and black metal influences to scorch fans of experimental extreme, Canadian trio Pessimystic unleashes its blistering introduction “Burnt Offering” produced by Topon Das at Apt 2 Recording (Fuck the Facts, Deformatory, Eclipser).

Bridging the chasm between dark, dissonant riffs and hook-focused compositions, the five-track record lyrically explores Biblical scripture, mysticism, philosophy, and theology. The album artwork was created by Misanthropic Art and is an original piece inspired by Ezekiel 1. Instead of a vision of God’s glory, the image represents God’s judgement.

“Under its dense and dissonant shroud, “Burnt Offering” combines the wrath and fury of death metal with the intensity and melodic echoes of black metal. The album captures deep textures and a natural, organic energy. With its meshed layers of intricate technical details, it showcases both performance and dedication Pessimystic has to offer.” adds the band.

The opening track, “Conquer the Pantheon”, was chosen to initiate Pessimystic’s debut record, due to its momentous energy. It begins with a rolling and thunderous beat, accompanied by an arpeggiated guitar section, creating a primitive and rhythmic atmosphere. This builds towards an aggressive, yet melodic barrage of tremolo chord progressions and blast beats. The song has a direct structure, allowing the listener to become acquainted with the album’s sonic landscape. The second track, “Visions”, is an apocalyptic revelation of divine retribution. It draws inspiration from the horrific events depicted in the bible, predicted by the prophets. It is the most resonant and melodic song on the record, from a vocal standpoint. It has a purposefully straightforward composition, yet it is laden with detailed and immersive musical passages. The title track, “Burnt Offering”, is the culmination of Pessimystic’s resolve and lyrical theology represented on this album. It is about sacrifice through immolation of the self and absorption into absolute unity with God. This track showcases the diversity of the band’s sound; weaving tense, bewildering dissonance into ominous psychedelia, and finishing with cathartic release. “Crystalline”, the overall tone of this song is injected with more death metal and doom influence than all of the previous tracks combined. In stark contrast with its heavy and brooding sound, the lyrics evoke an ecstatic trance that imagines the mystical and transformative experience of seeing the light and hearing the voice of God. To close out the record, “Omnipresent Malevolence”, leads the listener down an unsettling path toward destruction. Lyrically, this song is a lamentation directed at the almighty, concerned primarily with evil and suffering. It begs the question; why do terrible things happen to righteous people, while sinful deeds go unpunished? How can this world so abound with wickedness if it is the creation of an all-benevolent, all-knowing, and all-powerful God? The menacing instrumental fury of “Omnipresent Malevolence” is an unorthodox blackened death epic, possessed by foreboding grooves, and intensified by pummeling brutality from start to finish.

Pessimystic intends to compose and release EPs and albums on an annual basis, building momentum fast and spreading their energy far and deep. The band intends to promote the album in front of live audiences in Ontario, Quebec, and anywhere else there may be opportunities to play live in the year to come.

Listen to the ferocity of “Burnt Offering” via its full stream premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“Burnt Offering” is due out on November 24, 2023, and is available for pre-order on Pessimysticofficial.bandcamp.com

VORAATH Unleashes Drum Playthrough For Their Horror Tale “Judas Blood and Vultures”

Set to unleash their debut full-length in 2024 via Exitus Stratagem Records, VORAATH unveiled earlier this November their brutal horror-inspired extreme metal single and music video “Judas Blood and Vultures”, which is the first from a series of videos the band will be offering in the coming months to support the forthcoming album.

Today, band founder and drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward is now sharing his playthrough for the track via Sick Drummer Magazine‘s YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/6zFfeQT3-6A

The music video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/ZG3NlGh5-vg

Digital – https://hypeddit.com/voraath/judasbloodandvultures

The band adds:

“We are going the extra mile to not only bring you our flavor of extreme symphonic metal but an immersive experience both visually and auditorily. We thank all of you! If you love video games, sci-fi horror, action, and metal music then this is for you!”

Ward also co-wrote the storyline for “Judas Blood and Vultures” along with directing its music video with the combined efforts of the band’s team at Eldersverse Studio.

The story of “Judas Blood and Vultures” takes place in the year 2193 – Mission: 3116 The Red Village incident: The Valewalkers are contacted by an old friend, Tobias to investigate a series of strange disappearances in a neighboring village. It is believed that a vile creature from beyond the Nexus Rift, known by the locals as Lumia is responsible for the missing villagers, among them, Tobias’ new bride and infant child. As the hunters and their forlorn guide begin their pursuit of the creature and its cultist minions, they soon discover that not all is as it seems in the ruins of the red village.

Voraath members from Xael, Rapheumets Well, Implosive Disgorgence, Sweet Blood, Visitant, and The Monster Factory – Death Metal Choir for the video game DOOM Eternal), VORAATH is an otherworldly and experimental death metal band that brings together emotional yet brutal music and science fantasy appealing to both metal enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the lore of the music. The band’s origin began with an idea to merge extreme metal with storytelling by band founder and drummer Joshua Nassaru Ward (Xael).

“I wanted to create more than just another metal band but an intricate brand with lore to explore alongside the music. We are creating a metal multiverse,” says Ward.

Integrating science fantasy, soundscapes, and metal, VORAATH looks forward to tantalizing audiences and leaving them anticipating their forthcoming debut album in 2024. As they tour across the American midwest, they promise an onslaught of theatrics, bringing their stories of the music to life. Atmospheric and driving, the medley of blast beats, chugging bass, and heavily distorted solos will be both intense and immersive.

“Our stage wear is directly from the lore. Each one of us is a character in the lore of our music. Tactical dystopian armor, Alien-like helmets with red glowing lights, we try to represent the vibe we are writing about.” says Ward.

Voraath is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Cattle Decapitation, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

“Crushing Sci-Fi Death Metal” – Metal Injection

“The music (The Barrens) reaches new heights of fire-storming intensity, burning with feverish desperation, and then suddenly shifts into a classically influenced acoustic guitar and bass instrumental that’s sublime. That proves to be a segue into yet another phase of the musical narrative, one that’s glorious. The drums continue their blistering assault, but the music soars on the wings of solos of riveting splendor, heroic singing that goes sky-high, and the vast sweep of cinematic synths, which collectively end the track in a panoramic finale of stunning magnificence.” – No Clean Singing

“they are a band who’ve combined their musical and visual sides into a silver screen-worthy, sci-fi based, death metal odyssey centered around alien contact, the devastation and degradation of the environment and humanity, rule by corporate overlords and henchmen, Primitivism vs. Futurism and, of course, lots of blood, guts and killing.”- Decibel Mag

A masterclass of progressive and power metal, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s ‘Unite and Conquer,’ like its hailed and successful predecessor 2021’s ‘Psychosomatic’ was written and recorded by the band themselves with credit going to guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian and bassist Joshua Lopez, who also mixed the album at his Widowmaker Studios. They enlisted the help of artist/photographer Masiha Fattahi (Threshold) with further design work by Jobert Mello (Sabaton, Primal Fear, Acid Reign), as well as guest vocals by Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear, Gamma Ray) and Vicky Psarakis (The Agonist, Sicksense) to create a stellar new album.

“We definitely took a new direction with our writing process and overall sound on the new album. We tried some new things Immortal Guardian has never done, but also kept a taste of our classic sound in the process,” explains Gabriel Guardian. “We were all going through some crazy experiences in our lives while making this album and I think it really reflects in the music. As we did during our ‘Psychosomatic’ album, we were writing these songs in real time as we lived through these major events in the world and in our personal lives.”

“For generations, humanity has longed for a truth. The right to unite what has been divided. We long to be free from all our differences, genders, colors, nationalities, religions, beliefs, and any other type of separation,” elaborates vocalist Carlos Zema. “This real freedom relies on our minds, in being free from all these fears, repressions, oppressions, and everything else that stops us from being united. In the name of this truth, our voice will echo endlessly – Freedom!”

“Immortal Guardian’s ‘Unite and Conquer,’ lyrically traverses a multifaceted emotional journey, from introspection and self-discovery that passionately calls for unity and change. The poetic verses entwine seamlessly with the captivating melodies, delivering a musical narrative that resonates with the listener on a profound level, leaving an indelible mark on the heart and soul. With a simple message — this is the time to Unite and Conquer.”

Always lyrically insightful and pushing musical boundaries, the latest from IMMORTAL GUARDIAN will please fans of progressive, power, and traditional metal with so much tasty playing and melodies. Domestic copies are available on jewel case CD, as well as colored vinyl options including the red/black splatter and the exclusive 100 copies on bone/black vinyl only available from the band’s webstore and Bandcamp.

EPK – Never Reborn – Ashes of Our Past (2023)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“Ashes of Our Past is a big step up from our previous release, we took more time on this one and it shows. The production is huge, Ryan at Homewrecker Studio did an outstanding job once again, everything sounds so big and clear. We used Audiosiege to master the album and it really shines. You can put the album back-to-back with anything out there and it will hold its own. We spent a lot of time comparing it to the greatest bands around, Kreator, Megadeth, Dark Funeral, you name it, we wanted to make sure the sound quality was not inferior to anything. The album has been met with great reviews, it’s been mentioned a few times that it could be in talks of album of the year, saying it is very original. We have been shopping it around to record labels, so hopefully, it gets picked up by someone. If not, we will continue to promote it ourselves. It’s hard to have a sound all your own these days, so when someone says that we don’t sound like anyone else, it’s the biggest compliment you can get. Those are the reviews of the album that we cherish the most.” – Never Reborn

======================================================

About The Album Artwork:

We looked at a lot of different artists from around the world for this album cover and decided to go with Simon Bossert, out of Germany. His artwork really speaks to the music on this album. The cover has a very dark feel to it, and has just enough occult symbols without going overboard.

Album The Album:

Lyrically each song is a stand-alone piece, other than the final song of the album, which is part-2 of a trilogy. By stand-alone, I mean, we have a song about reincarnation and another one about no afterlife, some songs might contradict another song, the album is like a collection of short stories and we don’t feel like we need to stick to any rules. The music on the album is a sonic journey, each song was carefully placed in a specific order on the album to give it an even flow. We spent a lot of time arranging the order of the album tracks.

Track By Track:

Track-1: Storms End
This song sets the tone for the album, it’s a very tranquil 44-second instrumental…and as the Storm Ends the real Storm Begins, leading right into the song Never Reborn.

Track-2: Never Reborn
We took the name for the band from this song, it is a staple of our sound, to me it’s an album wrapped up in one song.

Track-3: Existence Denied
It’s classic alien abduction…about someone who is looking for signs of alien existence, not knowing that he has been getting abducted his entire life. The aliens are doing tests on this person to try and figure out why we exist as humans. You’ll have to read the lyrics to get the answer. We do have a lyric video for this song on YouTube.

Track-4: Ashes of Our Past
This is about reincarnation, about being cursed to remember past lives, loved ones that were left behind, and the torment of knowing that current loved ones won’t be forgotten in death.

Track-5: Haunted Eternally
It wasn’t written to be a modern-day “Romeo and Juliet” but there are some similarities, which were totally unintentional, I wrote the song on a more personal level. This is one of the songs that wasn’t meant to be on this album, but after dropping a song a week before entering the studio we agreed to record it, even though it had no lyrics or title. There was a lot of pressure on me to write the lyrics, and I had no concept at the time of what the song should be about. I’m completely happy with the outcome, it really rounds out the album.

Track-6: Deathmarch Armageddon
A possessed serial killer is on a rampage, you’d better beware…It was the first song I ever wrote in drop tuning, now half of our songs in drop tuning and the other half standard tuning. The reviews have been really favorable on this track.

Track-7: Fallen One
This one is about Lucifer’s fall from Heaven, the rise of the Antichrist, and the Final war of Armageddon. The first few verses are taken right out of the bible, word for word, it’s pretty evil. This a real crowd favorite and has a little bit of everything, it builds up gradually throughout the song, and climaxes in a fury of speed.

Track-8: Children of Fire
This was originally going to be the title track of the album. I began writing lyrics based on Dante’s Inferno, but not as some magical journey into hell, more of being alive and well one minute and in hell awaiting judgment the next, fully understanding that Heaven and Hell are real, and knowing you are doomed to burn forever. It wasn’t until jamming on Bathory “Enter the Eternal Fire” one night that l drew a connection between the songs, lyrically they could be brothers. I’m a lifelong fan of Bathory by the way, they are another band people will say we remind them of.

Track-9: False Prophecies
This is an instrumental, it was originally going to be acoustic guitar only but we decided to add percussion and bass. It’s not a song you’d expect to find by a band like us, but it brings balance to the album, it’s close to 3-minutes but feels much shorter. It really sets the stage for the album closer, “Requiem (World of Hurt)”.

Track-10: Requiem (World of Hurt)
This is part 2 of Heaven Shall Forsake, which was on the EP. It’s about the “child” in the first song, how he was exiled from the Church, and how he came back to do war with the Church. It’s our thrashiest song, and very 80s, in fact, I wrote it sometime around 1984, if there’s ever a pit going at our shows, this is definitely the song that gets it going. Expect an official full-band video for this one in early 2024.

=======================================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Our bass player, Sam Kinghorn, played on our debut EP but left the band in 2020 to focus on his main band, Coppernicus. He rejoined the band in 2023 and has been a huge factor in the Never Reborn sound.

2. Ricky Williams recently joined the band and took over drum duties, his style is much more aggressive, and he is schooled in extreme metal, his playing style compliments our sound very well.

3. Expect a new single in early 2024, we will be releasing an old 80s punk/thrash song called “Suck it Anyways” which is heavily influenced by bands like SOD, Dr. Know, The Accused, etc. We tell people it’s a cover song when we play it live, but I wrote it way back in the 80s. The words are a little explicit, so it will remain a single.

4. We use two different tunings on the album. Half of the songs are in Drop-C# and the other half are in E♭ Standard. We have them separated throughout the album, which really adds some great dynamics, each song sounds so different from the next.

5. “Storms End” is another song that wasn’t originally going to be on the album. When we were setting up the mics to record the clean guitars on “Fallen One” I was playing random parts while Ryan adjusted the mic levels. I’d played the part before, years ago, and pretty much couldn’t remember it exactly, but I kept messing with it, by the time we were ready to record I decided to use it as an intro to the album.

Combining elements of Thrash, with touches of Black and Classic Heavy Metal, this 3-piece outfit from Arizona has an unmistakable sound all their own.

Independently released in March of 2023, their sophomore release “Ashes of Our Past” is a big step forward for the band. The maturity in their songwriting is evident, from the opening clean guitar passage of “Storms End” to the closing thrash attack of “Requiem (World of Hurt).

Sharing the stage with bands such as Soulfly, DRI, Master, Warbringer, Enforcer, Claustrophobia, Taipan, and Phobia, Never Reborn has refined their live performances and songwriting skills.

“Here we go with another Hyperspace Metal Festival, and this is the biggest one yet! I feel like this is a dream lineup for us, one that we’ve been working towards since the inception of the festival! Unfortunately, Transgressive has had to drop out of the lineup. The band will be supporting their upcoming 2024 album “Battle Ballads” being released by Metal Blade Records. Montreal, QC – November 20, 2023

Wacken Metal Battle Canada Champs STRIGAMPIRE Release Anthemic Video “Sold Our Soul”

New Album “All To Dominate” Out Dec 15th, 2023

Produced by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy)

L-R – (Back row) James Foster / Drums – BadGuy P / Bass (Front row) – Steve DC / Vocals – Willy Thousand / Guitars – Johnny Dead / Guitars

In 2001, Canada’s Strigampire emerged onto the music scene, captivating audiences with their eloquence and delivering electrifying live performances. Over the years, their intense energy has earned them recognition and opportunities to share the stage with renowned international bands, as well as playing the Wacken stage this year after being crowned Metal Battle Canada champs. They are rounding off this year by releasing a second single “Sold Our Soul” off their third album “All To Dominate”, which is being released this coming December. Vocalist Steve DC shares his thoughts on the single:

“It talks about our passion for heavy metal music. I explain that we dedicate our lives to music, even if it means making sacrifices. I reference the idea of selling our soul to the devil for the love of heavy and rock music! I elaborate that, in my opinion, it’s important to sometimes stop fixating on the horizon and thinking about the destination, and instead take the time to appreciate the wonders that surround us in this wild adventure along the path of life.”

Musically, “Sold Our Soul” is a true heavy metal anthem, the atmosphere surrounding it is electrifying and incredibly badass. However, at times, it delves into a more mystical and less in-your-face ambiance, with a guitar melody that gradually evolves to culminate in an epic solo, emblematic of the rock & roll spirit. This song embodies a remarkable fusion of rock’s fervour and the extravagance of metal.

The high-energy elements seamlessly blend with introspective moments, creating a striking balance. In essence, “Sold Our Soul” is a true reflection of Strigampire’s identity as an extreme rock band, and celebrates the roots of heavy metal while capturing the raw energy and melodic finesse that characterize their music. It is recommended for fans of Children Of Bodom, Guns ‘n Roses, and At The Gates.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Sold Our Soul” via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“All To Dominate” is due out on December 15, 2023, and is available for pre-order (CD/Digital) at https://strigampire.bandcamp.com.

“Charisma, efficiency, and talent are three fitting words to describe Strigampire’s performance. With music that blends the finest elements of black metal and melodic death metal, and a phenomenal stage presence.” Fred Laroche – Capitale Du Métal

“This group is a treasure from Quebec and they did not come back from Wacken Open Air in Germany for nothing, they were finally noticed after years of work and it is well deserved because they are in their place performing in front of us with such conviction. We are talking about musicians of great quality with a lot of movement despite the difficulty of what they play most of the time. I would have loved for them to play on the big stage with the big sound, but it was Mononc Serge and Anonymus who were coming to close the long day of festivities.” – Metal Universe

“A music group from Trois-Rivières, Strigampire, will participate in the most important death metal festival, Wacken Open Air, this summer in Germany.” CBC Radio Canada

“It’s the story of five teenagers who form a musical group at the age of 15. They rehearse at school at lunchtime, in their parents’ basement or garage in the evenings and on weekends. They have nourished their passion for more than 20 years. They could never have suspected that this adventure would lead them to the most prestigious international heavy metal music competition. The Strigampire group from Trois-Rivières will represent Canada at the Wacken Battle Music in Germany on August 2.” – L’Hebdo Journal

“Throughout the album (One Fix, Nine Clouds and Six Feet Deep), the Canadian quintet walk the line between throat-shredding aggression and accessible melodies.” – Decibel Magazine

“Strigampire are a melodic death metal band offering a unique blend of aggression, bitterness and power combined with a rock and roll attitude.” – La Grosse Radio Metal

““The Only Hell I Know” balances between ripping vocals and galloping, melodic riffs.” – Decibel Magazine (2018 – One Fix, Nine Clouds and Six Feet Deep)

“If a combo has reached a level like STRIGAMPIRE on “One Fix, Nine Clouds & Six Feet Deep”, you can’t make enough use of it. Two thumbs up for this fine piece of melodic death lead entertainment!” – PowerMetal.de

NEVER REBORN Go Back To The Old School With Lyric Video For Thrash Laden “Existence Denied”

New Album “Ashes of Our Past” Out Now!

Thundering out of the thrash gates comes Arizona’s Never Reborn, a hard-hitting three-piece that released their second album “Ashes of Our Past” back in March to great reception. Fueled by that momentum, they have a new lyric video out now for the track “Existence Denied”. The song is about alien abduction, someone who is looking for signs of alien existence, not knowing that he has been abducted his entire life.

Guitarist/vocalist Steve White explains more:

“The aliens are doing tests on this person to try and figure out why we exist as humans. As the lyrics go…

Awaken in the night, surrounded by light,
Movement denied, horror I cannot disguise
On a cold bed I lie
Horrified, yet cannot cry
And those black eyes, so cold inside
Drill comes to life, inside they spy
Under the knife, once more am I”

Watch and listen to “Existence Denied” – https://youtu.be/SNs2IEHwCU4

Combining elements of thrash, with touches of black and classic heavy metal, this trio has a deadly and unmistakable sound all their own. Independently released, “Ashes of Our Past” is a big step forward for the band. The maturity in their songwriting is evident, from the opening clean guitar passage of “Storms End” to the closing thrash attack of “Requiem (World of Hurt)”.

According to the band, “Ashes of Our Past” is like a collection of short stories and they don’t feel like they need to stick to any rules. The music on the album is a sonic journey, each song was carefully placed in a specific order on the album to give it an even flow. They spent a lot of time arranging the order of the album tracks and suggested that it be listened to in order. Suitable for any thrash maniacs, it is especially recommended for fans of Kreator, Carcass, and Death.

“Ashes of Our Past” was released on March 18, 2023, and is available on https://neverreborn.bandcamp.com and Spotify.

Track Listing:
1. Storms End – 0:44
2. Never Reborn – 5:49

4. Ashes of Our Past – 4:16
5. Haunted Eternally – 6:41
6. Deathmarch Armageddon – 5:12
7. Fallen One – 5:43

“There is no other way to really describe ‘Ashes of Our Past’ other than excellent. It is an absolutely fantastic album and any fan of 80’s style black/thrash/death should get on this because it really is one of the best underground albums of 2023.” Adam McCann / Metal Digest

“Never Reborn plays a musical style that takes Black, Death and Thrash Metal and mixes it in with the melody of Classic Heavy Metal to create a sound of their own.” – John Larsen / Blackened Death Metalzine

0 The Power Behind DISSONA’s Blade Runner Themed “Renaissance” Is Evident In Drum Playthrough Video; New EP “Dreadfully Distinct” Out Now!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 18, 2023

The Power Behind DISSONA’s Blade Runner Themed “Renaissance” Is Evident In Drum Playthrough Video

New EP “Dreadfully Distinct” Out Now!

Dissona is a progressive metal band hailing from Chicago, USA, known for its adventurous, demanding, intense, mystical, and emotionally rich music. Their previous releases include “Paleopneumatic” in 2016 and a self-titled album in 2012. Their third release, an EP entitled “Dreadfully Distinct” was just released earlier this month and takes listeners into the gritty world of Blade Runner over three intense and varied tracks. The second cut “Renaissance” is getting a deeper look now with a drum playthrough video. The band comments on the theme:

“’Renaissance’ features the distinctive vocals of David Dubenic, who poignantly raises the intriguing question that lingers throughout the Blade Runner narrative: “Is Deckard human or replicant?” The track captures the urgency of his heated escape from LA with Rachael as it builds, with Deckard’s inner turmoil reflected in his repeated pleas to his own psyche. The song delves into Deckard’s dreams, fears, and ultimately, his confrontation with his own reality.”

The song opens with a hazy, atmospheric intro that evokes a sense of impending uncertainty. As the track unfolds, listeners are immersed in an exotic instrumental section, laden with tension-inducing tones and intricate time signatures mirroring the complexities of Deckard’s journey.

Throughout “Renaissance”, Dissona skillfully weaves a narrative that mirrors Deckard’s emotional and existential struggles, all set against the backdrop of their signature progressive metal sound. The song’s powerful instrumentation and evocative lyrics make it a standout addition to the EP which is recommended for fans of Between the Buried and Me, Cynic and Opeth.

Watch their masterful drummer, Drew Goddard, perform his parts for the song “Renaissance” at https://youtu.be/tCUtyOvvsrY

“Dreadfully Distinct” was released on November 10th, 2023 via Earache Distribution and is available at the following links:

“Drawing inspiration from the Bladerunner movie series, specifically Agent K from Blade Runner 2049, “Skinjob” has an icy exterior musically, but definitely has the DNA of great mid-west electronica and industrial music inside of its veins. Their entire upcoming new EP Dreadfully Distinct, drops November 10th and follows this story.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“What I love about this band’s sound is the way in which the rolling riffs are mixed with some highly technical playing, but without becoming complex for the sake of complexity alone. David Dubenic has a very dramatic way of singing, utilising different ‘voices’. That usually puts me off, and can sound rather fake and overtly theatrical. But David has the ability to deliver it very convincingly.” – DPRP.net

“This EP delves into the Blade Runner universe, with each track dedicated to a character from the iconic film. The first single, “The Prodigal Son,” explores the backstory of Roy Batty, one of the original film’s central characters. While their third full-length album is also on the horizon, listeners can get an early fix with their upcoming cinematically crafted progressive EP.” – Metal Insider

“Since I wasn’t yet familiar with DISSONA, this EP was a pleasant surprise for me, offering a consistent concept, wonderfully diverse compositions and great performances from all band members. I’m digging their kind of musical story-telling, where everything seems to be in the right place, perfectly supported by the well-balanced, yet full-sounding production. With the earlier mentioned already recorded album on the horizon, it feels like a good time to dive into their backcatalogue before the new opus will be released, which is highly anticipated now!” – Mostly-Metal

“Ethnic instruments bring “Renaissance” to life, a track that finds the band take on the character of Rick Deckard as he and Rachel escape from LA. Another powerhouse performance driven home by Drew Goddard behind the kit, it strikes a wonderful balance between the embellishments of synths and orchestration. Dubenic offers up a couple of unclean vocal moments which add contrast while the thought and vision that has gone into creating something this epic is abundantly clear. There is even a moment for 90’s breakbeats in the final moments. 8/10” – Metal Noise

“The more times you listen to this EP, the more you pick up. It’s quite a fascinating release. Fans of the Blade Runner universe will get a lot more out of it than non-fans, but everyone can enjoy the imaginative prog noise Dissona create regardless. 9/10” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

““Skinjob” is the shining star on the Dreadfully Distinct – walking a line between metal and brooding goth à la Depeche Mode. As David Dubenic (vocals), Matt Motto (guitars), Craig Hamburger (bass), and Drew Goddard (drums) create collaboratively, aligning to the overarching themes and narrative, their unity allows for both an aural and visual experience. Dreadfully Distinct is not dreadful but it is distinct, creative, and brilliant in its creation.” – Amplify The Noise

EPK – Yesterday’s Hero – Ways To Hate (2023)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“Ohio Metal act Yesterday’s Hero has dropped a new music video for their song “What I Needed,” from their 2023 album Ways To Hate. The clip highlights overcoming adversity we can all relate to, and the track is a banger! Catchy enough to glue into your ears, and heavy enough for the moshers.” – Ghost Cult Magazine

“This is a great album…. they all sound awesome, being the perfect blend of the early 2000s alt-metal sound and a more modern take, almost bordering on Phil Campbell at times. And, as similar as it all was, I would happily take a lot more of it. Seven tracks just wasn’t enough for me! It sounds great and I think these guys are going to be a big deal soon, if this album is anything to go off!” – Overtone Magazine

““Killing Me.” The song is a straightforward alt-metal rager for fans of the late-90s/early-2000s nu-metal scene.” – New Noise Magzine

“If you’re a real mensch, then you know when it’s your time to bounce, like the boys in Yesterday’s Hero. The hard rockers are happy to unveil their new music video for “Bounce,” off of their new record, Ways To Hate. The seven-track effort was self-released late last month and checks all the boxes of a no-nonsense, riff-rocking good time. There probably isn’t anywhere more rock n’ roll to record a music video than a car shop, which the band selected as the location of this badass new video clip. The primary riff featured in “Bounce” is one of the first the Ohio quartet conceived for this new record. In a sense, the riff dictated the subject matter of the song, with the band feeling that it really “bounced.” Feeding off of this energy, the song came about rather naturally and cohesively.” – V13

“”When it comes to big riffs, ‘Bounce’ by Yesterday’s Hero doesn’t sell the listener short. Its main thrust sounds like a stoner rock band channelling an old Fugazi tune; the muted riff on the verse adds a sharp edge beneath a great vocal, and exploding into a huge chorus, the band are able to convey a timeless post-grunge sound that sounds massive beneath an enthusiastic hook. If that wasn’t enough, a slow heavy breakdown drawing from a blend of groove metal and hardcore influences increases the tension at the track’s end, ensuring these four minutes leave most rock fans more than satisfied.” – Real Gone Rocks

“Here’s a highly interesting US band if you’re into the crossroads between melodic metal and melodic hard rock. Yesterday’s Hero are from Ohio and this is an EP of seven songs, released back in late 2023… They’re driven by a nice and rough guitar sound that goes well with the tight drumming and the pounding bass. According to the guys their sound ”falls between nu metal and modern radio rock”. And yeah, that pretty well sums it up… Where many bands in this genre go for rougher vocals (i.e. almost growl) this band is humble enough to offer quite good normal singing by Neller. Check this up, many of you hard rock and metal fans will like it.” – Meloid.net

Hailing from the bogs of the black swamp, deep in the cut of corn country. Yesterday’s Hero is a Hard Rock/ Alt-metal band from N.W. Ohio. Fueled by backroad burnouts and small-town shenanigans Yesterday’s Hero uses a blend of high-energy groove combined with timeless melodies that will make you hit repeat!
