“Extinction Necromance is a release which wholly captivates whilst hitting the listener with a tsunami of malevolent sound and intent.” – Ring Master Review
“Xul is a up and coming blackened death metal band that certainly have all the chops necessary to hang with the big boys like Behemoth.” – That Metal Station
“Extinction Necromance is an unrelenting half-hour of blistering material” – Dead Rhetoric
“Those familiar with the band’s debut should find no surprises, as Extinction Necromance brings the steamrolling rhythms combined with a proficient blend of technical flourishes, tremolo riffing and militant chugging.” – Metal Observer
“Their latest four track EP, ‘Extinction Necromance’, spanning thirty minutes, is an energetic offering packed with crushing rhythms that morph into atmospheric passages, accompanied by waves of pummelling percussion and vicious vitriolic vocals all with an underlying aura of malevolence.” – Metal Talk
“When you have a band who takes all the best elements of Death Metal and Black Metal without being cliche or too big for their britches, THAT’S a winning combination. Such is the case with Vernon, British Columbia’s own XUL, a five-piece metal machine hell-bent on watching the world burn….XUL has what it takes to gain themselves legions of new followers in the Blackened Death realm with each coming record. I’m very excited to see what happens next. Extinction Necromance is out May 19, so don’t delay!! STANDOUT TRACKS: ALL OF THEM” – Amps and Green Screens
“Black Metal fans, get ready- XUL is ready to take over the world and their latest record,Extinction Necromance- may help them do just that. In the vein of bands like Behemoth and Immortal, XUL could be the next big thing in the genre and Extinction Necromance is the perfect follow up to their last record- Malignanceand picks up right where they left off a few years ago.” – The Front Row Report
“Delving into supreme extremities this five track E.P is sure to leave its mark – so look out for the three claw marks in printed on your body after listening! It may require several attempts of an exorcism before you can shake off its demons. The vocal lures are menacing and forceful while the accompanying swathes of textured black rhythms are exploited to their extremes. Also holding strong ambient flavour it whisks up into a frenzy and sets its sights on your soul and will never relinquish it once in its grasp – be prepared to go into battle with the evil forces of XUL you will need more than prayers and crucifixes alone!” – RAM Zine
“Chaos Requiem’ is my favourite track from this release. A guitar sound captured well again by Jeff Bryan and delivered supremely by the band. What separated this track from the rest for me was how the vocals were delivered with a connection to the drums and guitar riffs, there was a greater natural feeling – not a second was wasted and attention was demanded throughout….Xul clearly have riffs by the bucket load though. Any fans of Behemoth and Dissection must check this band out.” Taste of Khaos Magazine
“This new CD contains 4 tracks forged in a quite peculiar and solid mix of death metal and black metal. Actually, these musicians took the best lines and structures from both genres and added a very provocative dose of technical metal and morbid vocals; the result is superlative as you never get bored with these large tracks. Everything is tied by high quality structures and for moments they developed some excellent sections in the vein of progressive stuff, and that gives a particular taste as all tracks sound quite balanced. Also, I have to say that they don’t forget the true spirit of metal music and you can hear thick roots of epic lines here and there. My total support is for bands like this one who really know how to deliver good things and build aggressive metal music with class and good taste.” – Zombie Ritual Zine
“this ferocious assault of blazing drums, raucous vocals and tight-as-a-nun’s-arse riffs, collectively delivers a musical force to be reckoned with.” – Global Metal Apocalypse

Levi Meyers, Bill Ferguson, Wallace Huffman, Marlow Deiter and Lowell Winters formed XUL in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, following in the footsteps of bands such as: Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL has left the beaten path to forge their own brand of Blackened Death Metal. An energetic and engaging live performance, overflowing with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages, accompanied by a storm of punishing percussion and vicious vocal harmonies. XUL has expanded on their previous work with their new release “Extinction Necromance”. Heralding a new age of northern darkness. Songs reminiscent of cold lonely tombs, malevolent intent and predatory nature. XUL captivates audiences like light attracts flies. XUL’s first offering since 2012’s Malignance , “Extinction Necromance” see’s a reverse‐metamorphosis of the band, delving deeper into the maelstrom and the result is truly unsettling. Driven by determination and a diverse accumulation of musical comprehension, XUL has toured Western Canada, sharing the stage with heavyweights including Obscura, Exhumed, Vreid, Kampfar, Woods of Ypres, Macabre, Withered, Cephalic Carnage, Archspire and 3 Inches of Blood. Extinction Necromance looms heavy just beyond the light of day and XUL is determined to build on an already impressive western Canadian following, while firmly setting the rest of Canada in their crosshairs.
XUL – Malignance Reviews
#10 of Top 20 Best Albums of 2012 for MetalMadeInCanada.ca
“Xul continue to offer a barrage after barrage of obliterating death metal…when the sheer fire power and dexterous performances that Xul serve up are so satisfying. Particularly when you consider that is the band’s debut album. Malignance is undeniably impressive.” – Powerplay Mag UK
“Malignance, the first record from unsigned Canadian blackened death act Xul, is one of the most impressive debut’s I’ve heard in a very long time. Rarely are the similar artists mentioned in press kits an entirely accurate estimation of the soundscapes to be found within an album proper, but I find the examples of Behemoth and Dissection are quite fitting in this case, as the band excels at weaving the brutality of the former with the epic melodious propensity of the latter, not to mention the grandiosity inherent to both, into a rich and exciting tapestry of extremity.” – Metal-Archives.com
“Vernon British Columbia natives, XUL made their way to Katacombs with one intention in mind – to leave a lasting effect. They did. Influenced by the mighty Behemoth and defunct, Dissection, Xul pulled out all the stops in an insanely intense show characterized by a great sound, guitar hooks and energy that would lay waste to most established bands today! Approx. 50 people were in attendance, give or take a few, but there could have been 10,000 people with the amount of electricity in the air! CONFIDENCE was the adjective on display. They tore through “Summon the Swarm” in such a way that Jon Nodtveidt would have smiled in his grave! Long live Blackened Death Metal. Long Live Xul.” – Live Review – Ondes Chocs
“will appeal to fans of black/death metal. Hard-hitting and brutal, Malignance is intense and that intensity does not let up until the very last song.” – TheFrontRowReport.com
“I loved this album beginning to end, and you can hear the talent that lies there just waiting to come out and greet the world with what XUL has to offer. I can’t wait to hear what they come out with next. I hope some record company comes and grabs these guys because they have a lot to offer the metal community! Look forward to the future with XUL because I know we will be hearing from them again soon.” – Metal Master Kingdom
“Xul operate within the genre of blackened death metal, taking cues from blackened death metal giants like Behemoth, black metal legends like Immortal and Mayhem, as well as death metal demigods like Morbid Angel. They have taken all of these inspirations and combined them into their own artistically highly successful brand of blackened death metal, which features the brutality of death metal and the darkness and evil of black metal. Thus, you get and album the treats you to both the machine-gun bassdrums, guttural vocals, and technically proficient playing associated with death metal and the tense harmonies, tremolo picking, and blazing blastbeats associated with black metal…..Xul’s “Malignance” is a huge artistic success and captures what I consider to be the best from both death metal and black metal.” – Metal Music Archives
“XUL’s “Malignance” is a raging, rolling machine of Black-tinged Death Metal 8/10” – Metal-Observer
“the band manages to make a sound that encompasses the Death Metal ‘old school’ with the current time style that combines technical, brutality and a very dark mood, as do Belphegor, Behemoth and Azarath. 8/10” – Whiplash (Brazil)
“Malignance features a stunning display of musicianship with its ultra-slick leads, hyperspeed percussion and incredible bass tone. Meyers’s fetid vocals salivating on the album’s rotting body ties the whole gruesome scene together. Xul wreak “Vengeance” on the ears of death metal fans, forcing their way in the cortex to fester and boil. This is one Malignance you’ll be dying to have.” – Kingdom of Noise
“I love death metal that takes no prisoners.” – Battl Helm
“This blackened death quintet from Vernon, British Columbia does not dissapoint with thier first release, Malignance. The first track sets the pace for the whole album; hard hitting, ear splitting, skull crushing brutality. Battlestorm, indeed! Strong black influences shine through, especially in tracks like Porta Nocis, and Vengeance, while the instrumental Winter’s Reign leaves you spellbound. I have to admit to being really impressed with the amount of work these northern bastards have put into this, and I highly recommend it.” – Canadian Black Metal
“a very great sounding heavy and brutal blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE “Battlestorm” “Winter’s Reign” and “Tomb Of The Tyrants”. RECOMMENDED BUY” – BringerofDeathZine
“The perfect combination of black and death metal, even with a particularly thrashy sounding guitar line in places on ‘Mastication of Putrescent Empyrean Remains’ really comes together on this album” – BigMetalBastard

After a busy 2014 that saw Ottawa, ON based DOUBLE EXPERIENCE tour across the USA, the United Kingdom (tour recap on PureGrainAudio.com here) and Canada in promotion of their debut full length ‘721835′. The restless rockers have added more dates to their touring schedule hitting the Canadian East Coast beginning April 23rd in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to follow their previously announced ‘Appear Offline’ Tour in Ontario that will kick off in Kingston on April 9th and wrap up in Toronto on April 20th.
About:
Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. Showcasing a creative sound influenced by geeky comic books, trading cards, classic 8 bits games to today’s future 3D experiences, the album follows up their 2011 EP ‘One Big Quicksand’ recorded and produced by Jayson DeZuzio (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance) that was released via Blue Sapphire/Universal Music Canada.

“Nerds from our great neighbors from the North can rock! Double XP is a lot more than a couple of gamers with instruments. Their upcoming album goes to show that gamers really do have feelings, and they are not ashamed to talk about em!” Royal Flush Magazine
“Their debut album “721835” consists of a fairly ballsy bunch of well-written alternative rock ‘n’ roll songs with cheeky riffs and ambitious vocal melodies. The lyrics might very well have been inspired by nerdy things and contain plenty of references that can be cherished by fellow nerds, but at the same time they are written in a way that succeeds in communicating extremely relatable feelings and experiences.” – Rock Freaks
“They’re a quartet who embrace their nerdy credentials, and luckily for those who may be concerned also know how to knock out some chunky riffs and melody lines.” – Screamer Magazine
“I recommend checking out “721835” if you enjoy rock music, Fall Out Boy, or simply love the combination of music and gaming/comic books/trading cards/etc.” – Canadian Beats
“Good songwriters…I think [Double Experience] are next. They’re going to do very well and I’m very excited about that.” – Jayson DeZuzio, producer (Coheed and Cambria, My Chemical Romance, Four Year Strong)
“The most genuine and down to earth band I’ve ever had to work with, load-in and sound checks were quick and easy with this bunch and they are some of the most hard working guys we as a venue have ever had the pleasure of the working with. Having traveled so far, and never played Swansea… prior to the show we were very unsure as to which way the event would turnout. But sure enough, [the band] did not disappoint. Playing to a pretty full room of Welsh fans singing and dancing along, throwing in a cover by Queen to really get them going. As a promoter and venue owner, I would recommend booking this band to anyone in the world, they definitely will not disappoint.” – William Sheldon, Promoter & Venue Owner – Static Bar, Swansea UK
“It’s rare that a band like Double Experience come along so we’re going to cherish them while they can still call themselves an ‘upcoming’ band because it won’t be long before they’re playing sold out massive shows. Great band, highly recommended.” – Andrew Dutton, Promoter – The Square, Harlow UK
