“The aforementioned lead guitar is actually amazing. If you are a person who likes shredding, I highly recommend this album. Seriously, the solos are fucking cool! […] the vocalist is fantastic. Just saying.” – Mind The Music T.O. (2015)

“Thematically, these guys have also aced their game. They know how to blend music and presentation to a tee, almost developing a narrative around what they do. When it all comes together, it makes for a brilliant experience. All of this is evinced in full on the Red Skies debut album “Iron Sun”. […] This album isn’t merely music – it’s a venture for the ears worth taking.” – The Circle Pit (2015)

“[…] I have been waiting for something like this to come out for a while now. […] All nine songs are original and deserve a listen. Personally, [I think] other metalcore bands should listen to this and take notes.” – Montreal Rampage (2015)

The end of a time and the beginnings of something greater; that is what Red Skies stands for and what its name means to the band members that make up its sound.

From humble beginnings in 2012, the group came together to create a musical style of their own with nothing but their creativity to limit them. Fast, catchy and heavy, their E.P. Identitas (2013) stands as a testament to their reputation as a staple of the Montreal music scene. In the short amount of time the band has been around, they already had the chance to share the stage with many established acts, including: Architects, Enter Shikari, The Acacia Strain, Stray From the Path, Volumes, Being as an Ocean, My Ticket Home, Amity Affliction, For the Fallen Dreams, Obey the Brave, Heartist, Smash Hit Combo, Your Memorial, The Plot in You, The Contortionist, Counterparts, Fit For An Autopsy, Intervals and many more.

In 2014, their hard work was recognized by a large panel of judges coming from all corners of the music industry (Evenko, Extensive Enterprises, The Gazette, Asher Media Relations, etc.) at the “En Route Vers Heavy MTL” contest, during which the band made it all the way to the finals at Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre, under overwhelming participation from the crowd and positive feedback from the judges.

Red Skies continues to push the limits of their identity and sound, striving to create a place for their art and a name for themselves. Their debut record “Iron Sun” (10/13/15) has already received many critical acclaims and keeps doing so as the band spreads their fresh new sound to the masses.

Discography:

2013 – Identitas (EP)
2012 – Human Nature (EP)

About:

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but eleven local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul and Odinfist to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2016 will be the eighth year of the festival and is planned to be the largest year for music and attendance yet. This year’s team of organizers known as the West Metal Entertainment Society is the most dedicated to date and are excited to present an incredible line up along with some changes to come for AMF 2016. Previous years of the festival have seen line ups with Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation, Anciients, Bison BC, Striker, Crimson Shadows, Holy Grail, Archspire, Cryptopsy, Unleash The Archers, Divinity, Into Eternity, Ninjaspy, Vesperia, XUL, Odinfist, Death Toll Rising, Gomorrah among many others .

0 VOIR: CRITIQUES EN VRAC: QUE DU CONTENU CANADIEN AVEC STRIKER, SILENT LINE, TALES OF THE TOMB, ADRENECHROME ET VANTABLACK WARSHIP

  • February 10, 2016
  • by Asher
  • · Adrenechrome · Silent Line · Striker · Vantablack Warship

Striker

“On peut sentir la transpiration venant du métal épique comme Helloween, Iron Maiden et Judas Priest. C’est de la haute voltige musicale, une voix puissante bien appuyée par un autre contingent vocal surfin et une section rythmique carabinée.”

Silent Line

“Pimpant et entrainant”

Tales of The Tomb

  • · Rhine

this is Seattle-based Rhine‘s sophomore release, and it’s pretty obvious that they had an absolute ball writing this, as it sounds like an interesting blend of Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, a touch of doom and more than a taste of symphonic metal.

HAIDUK, the Calgary, AB one man thrashing black and death metal project fronted by Luka Milojica is offering a FREE download of oracks ‘Nazon’ and ‘Nergion’from his latest concept album ‘Demonicon’ where each song pertains to the nine demons on the release’s front cover.

To get your free downloads, please visit the following link: http://haiduk.bandcamp.com/

To order your copy of ‘Demonicon’, please visit www.Haiduk.ca.

Three years in the making, ‘Demonicon’ is the follow up to 2012’s break through debut full length ‘Spellbook’ and once again is completely written and produced by Luka Milojica along with mastering by Robert Kukla (Arbitrator) plus album artwork done by Gragoth of Luciferium War Graphics.

“It’s a crusher! This album has some of my best riffs. I don’t waste my time, I don’t waste your time. This is true Haiduk the way it was meant to be: cold, evil, blasting arrangements featuring some unique guitar work. 9 songs, 9 demons, risen from the volcanic underworld of Octavia in the realm of Callost – a fantasy world setting, which serves as the basis for the map, lyrics, and short stories contained in the CD booklet.” comments  Luka Milojica.

Track Listing: Demonicon

  1. Syth (3:31)
  2. Nazon (2:45)
  3. Deamris (4:04)
  4. Azyr (2:43)
  5. Sarxas (3:30)
  6. Corloch (4:13)
  7. Nergion (3:33)
  8. Vordus (3:20)
  9. Xhadex (4:33)

Total running time: 32:28

About:

Haiduk is the death metal solo-project by guitarist Luka Milojica. Emerging from the cold forests of Canada, the project arose with the release of the raw, bone-chilling 8-song demo “Plagueswept” (2010).

Aggressive and dark, the sound of Haiduk is a direct channeling of haunting ideas from composer to listener, as the conceptualization, writing, and execution of the music is a solitary process. Free from outside influence, the songs pull the listener toward themes of power, evil, magic and myth.

Forging ahead in solitude, Haiduk unleashed the full-length debut “Spellbook” (2012); a black-magic conjuring of fast guitars and powerful riff attacks summoning an atmosphere of true darkness.

Invoking spells of demonic strength, Haiduk raised forces from the infernal depths, sealing arcane knowledge and ancient power into the “Demonicon” (2015); a blackened tome of blasting distortion.

“Whoa! Somebody is fucking with my brain! Just listening to the streamer screamer extract The Apathetic Plague from Éohum‘s latest EP Ealdfaeder… they are going deep down. Deep, deep down to the essence of Black Metal with a somewhat doomish and atmospheric tinge. Then out of the black abyss they hit you with some Progressive elements in their tune. By doing so Éohum create their very own brand in this vast Black Metal universe. Well, by Thor’s mighty hammer, not bad.” – Rock Music Raider

“A truly groundbreaking band, the first thing that comes to mind when I heard this disc. Have you seen or heard a French horn in a black metal band?” – Made In Metal

“a very extreme taste for the unusual” – Lords of Metal

“It’s definitely something new in the metal world… adventerous and new in a world where a lot of music sounds the same. It smashes the expectations of predictable…The whole album is new and unique and absolutely genius. I love the way the intensity and the sound slowly build up and then you’re full on into this great blackened doom metal album.” – Metal Head Blog

“their sound has a mildly addictive streak to it.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

“Wikipedia in all of its might defines the French Horn as, “a brass instrument made of tubing more than 20 feet (6.1 m) long, wrapped into a coil with a flared bell.” I got the pleasure of marking something rather interesting off of my list of shit I’ve seen: a french horn in a Black Metal band. Thank you Eohum! (I think.)  If you’re on the hunt for something that will make you go a wee bit cross-eyed, look no further than Eohum.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

” Sheer talent is evident in this progressive blackened doom band. When they start playing a riff where they just click, it’s impressive, even uplifting. It’s no easy task to do that with the components of the bands: a blast beating drummer, tons of speedy, grim guitars, a thunderous vocalist who both screams and sings, samples, and…a fucking horn section? The…fuck…?…I have a feeling, though, that Éohum are onto something.” – Gun Shy Assassin

2. Unmasking A World Of Deceit (6:10)

2016 – Ealdfaeder – EP
2015 – Revelations, Aurora of An Epoch – LP
Eohum - Press Photo - credit Jeremy Perkins
Formed in 2010, Éohum (pronounced ee-o-um) is a traditionalist and cultural identitarian band produced from the mind of guitarist Jeremy Perkins to create a relentless, anthemic groove -doom- tinged black metal to emphasize a message clearly depicting people’s lack of interest in the past relationship we held with nature and our ancestral ways.

Originally written as a literal, poetic project by Perkins, his surrounding friends at the time having musical roots and a background in metal, then sprouted the idea for him to create Éohum.

“A book became a music release! Now with a full lineup we have a sound, that is distinct, that is ours.” says Perkins

All written and arranged by Perkins, Éohum debut their release “Revelations, Aurora Of An Epoch” in April 2015 that featured a collective of musicians that included guest vocals from Matt McGachy (Cryptopsy) (Tracks 3-4-5-7), Lana Edwards (Intro & Outro), Phillippe Rieder (Track 6), Nick Wybo (ex-Vinyl Hero) on drums, Annie Perreault on French Horn/Trumpet, Sylvain Dumont on guitar, James Heymans on bass and Perkins himself on guitar plus a live line up that featured drummer Simon Mackay (The Agonist) and vocalist Barrie Butler (ex : Tard).

With so much talent from various backgrounds, Éohum blended the most gruesome with the cleanest of black and doom metal to create hypnotic riffs with seducing horns that was injected into the veins of metal fans.

Now in 2016 with their new EP ‘Ealdfaeder’ set for release on March 18th, Éohum features a line up with Perkins (guitar) and the return of Perreault (French Horn/Flute), Dumont (Guitar), Butler (Vocals) plus new comers Cesar Franco (bass) and Luca Belviso (drums) whom have made up the band up for a year now plus a special guest recording from drummer Simon Mackay (The Agonist) on tracks 2-4-5 for the release. All are focused on the distinct grassroots of old school, very heavy progression that has flourished since last year to give way to a distinct path, sound and image with each member sharing common ground on the message, beliefs and ideas behind Éohum.

“The EP speaks generally about the lost voice of past cultures who were colonized and the decaying relationship humanity has with nature due to the societies we live in. The loss of traditions we held and relationships we had with nature.” comments Perkins.

Lyrically the EP is inspired by poems written by Perkins on the loss of culture and tradition due to greed and colonization across the globe.

1- Eurocide :This song speaks of the lost traditions within the distinct smaller cultures of Europe’s in the past colonization periods thousands of years ago, where they lost their relation to nature, faiths and ways of life.

2- Unmasking a world of deceit : Reveals the trading in of our beliefs; ways, quality of food and lifestyles for a fist of coins, routine and fear filled faiths of today’s world.

3- The Apathetic Plague : A song descrying the effects of colonization and capitalism on countries across the globe and the loss of land and ancient people’s perspectives, like for example the Amazon.

4- Ode To A Martyr: A look at today’s deprived, pill driven, technological populace.Humanity leaving behind its core and self-preservation for these delusional lifestyles.

5-Curative Undulations: Speaks of humanities relation to nature and musical traditions and the primordial ways we used healing with music. Curative undulations which means, healing, music/sound waves.

Éohum is recommended for fans of black, doom and death metal in the vein of bands such as God Seed, Death, Hate Forest, Immortal, Neurosis.

Fun Fact About Band Name: Éohum means many Yew trees in old English, Yew tree is the Tree of Life for the English tribes of our past predating most of the Celt languages which blended Latin to their own afterward.

The E without the accent would mean many war horses, so that’s why there is an accent, not because it’s a French word.
