0 Loud Stuff – Rhine – An Outsider

  • · Rhine

The sound is completely original and I recommend ‘An Outsider’ to anyone who is craving something new, fresh and original. The term ‘progressive’ gets thrown around a lot to describe bands that don’t fit into any other sub-genre, but Rhine have demonstrated what true progressive metal should sound like.

their sound is a melting pot of raw ferocity, brooding atmosphere and rhythmic complexity…Ealdfaeder has been carefully crafted and mixed so that each instrument sounds as though it has been given ample room to shine and yet they all blend so naturally together and compliment one another perfectly. This is an impressive release and I would urge anyone who likes Black Metal and Blackened Doom to give this a listen.

Vocalist Rob The Witch comments on the album:

“Humanity can challenge the imposed system that have been forced and imposed on us since birth. Most humans are forced into religion and politics, a system based on religion controlling what you think, how you should think and believe what is good or not accordingly to their rules. Laws have been made based on moral dictated by religions and with time applied in governments and politics. How long will mankind will stay a slave and refuse to embrace is own power to become one with the great all. We are part of the universal creation, we are one with all and all in one. We are gods, dark gods, and it is our duty to thin the herd.”

About:
With ‘Advent Of The Human God’, NECRONOMICON present themselves at a new height in their long lasting career, which began as early as 1988 with the founding of the band by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” Tremblay in the deep northern part of Canadian province Quebec, called the “Fjord of Saguenay”.

The Canadian veterans keep their tracks as gloriously epic as furiously massive and harsh. Songs like “The Golden Gods”, “Unification Of The Four Pillars”, “Crown Of Thorns” and “I Bringer Of Light” tell of experienced songwriting and an eclectic wide range of influences that flow into the sound of NECRONOMICON. Nodding to DIMMU BORGIR and BEHEMOTH to DEICIDE and SUFFOCATION, these extreme metal addicts carve their own sound out of the much cherished ingredients of brutal dark music.

NECRONOMICON have a well-earned reputation for quality by releasing material only when ready and satisfied with the outcome ever since their demo entitled “Morbid Ritual” (1992) firmly established their name within the underground. “The Silver Key” EP (1996) led to mainstream recognition on a national level, but their debut album “Pharaoh Of Gods” (1999) and the sophomore “The Sacred Medicines” (2003) did even more to establish the band as a household name in Canada. “Return Of The Witch” (2010) marked the international break-through for NECRONOMICON, and saw them performing at prestigious festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Ragnarok (Germany), and the Barge To Hell metal cruise among others, while sharing stages with acts such as CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, and MORBID ANGEL, to name but a few. Their steady advance around the globe grew considerably in impact by their next full-length “Rise Of The Elder Ones” (2013). Now NECRONOMICON are more than ready for the next step with ‘Advent Of The Human God’. Lay back and enjoy the darkness!

A Rebel Few – As The Crow Flies (2016)

“It’s not often that a cd comes to the studios at 107.5 Dave Rocks from an independent band that makes you crank it up and take notice. A REBEL FEW’s debut “As The Crow Flies” is one helluva a disc! If you like straight up, great ROCK – give them a listen” – Darryl Law (107.4 Dave Rocks) (Kitchener, ON)

“A Rebel Few is four great musicians with strong heavy metal intelligence and obvious strong songwriting influences and it all blends nicely in to one fine album.” – Metal Nation Radio

“Every once in a while a new band kicks up a huge buzz, and more often than not the excitement is over before the dust even settles. A Rebel Few is poised to be the exception to the rule. The Cambridge, Ontario based quartet is turning heads for good reason—they speak, through their music—as a voice for a generation tired of insubstantial, lackluster bands more focused on trends and image than riffs and melody.” – Metalholic

“What sets A Rebel Few apart is how they manage to take all that is great about heavy music; melody, groove, expressive vocals, muscly riffs, and stand out instrumental performances, and render it all down into straight forward, blue-collar hard rock that can appeal to everyone. As the Crow Flies finds a young yet seasoned band, already comfortable in its own skin, taking pride in its roots and building a lasting homage to its rock and roll heroes.” – Examiner.com

“It features nine speaker-shaking numbers that incorporate some of the greatest guitar riffs of the last five years.Beginning with “Born Again,” the band hits the perfect power chords to grab your attention. Continuing with the intense rhythm of “Rebel Few” and the chugging guitars of “Dyin’ Breed,” A Rebel Few keep their foot on the gas. They close their new nine-song release with the Black Sabbath-like riff of “Bitter Man” and vicious attack of “Pure Revolution”.” – JP’s Music Blog – Record Journal

“Southern Fried Bastard Rock at its finest, A mixture of the Zakk Wylde’s Pride and Glorydays with the bite of Jackyl…This band is definitely poised to go much further than the crow flies. A Highly recommended release.” XS Rock

“This is straight ahead, no frills rock that pays homage to the elders while creating their own thing.” – Glacially Musical

“‘As The Crow Flies’ has masses of appeal… It is fun and offers up some brilliant songs. There is nothing here that feels particularly “filler”, with each song a strong contender for a single release. The album has massive replay value and that is exactly what I intend to do. Now get your asses over to the UK so we can see you live!” – Three Songs And Out

“No smoke. No mirrors. These guys are the real deal. In this “no talent needed”, “fix it in the mix”, music climate we are all currently experiencing, this band helped me to appreciate my craft and my love for music more than I thought I could. Thank you guys. You literally ROCK!!!” – Sterling Winfield (Producer)

Cambridge, ON’s A REBEL FEW follow a simple motto.

“They’re not “making waves in the scene” … They’re not “from the ashes”… They’re not “creating a sound for the generation”…They’re a straight ahead no nonsense Rock n Roll band! If you dig music that you can be a part of … and a live show that isn’t 4 guys staring at their shoes, then they are a band for you!! What lives in them, lives in you … together WE are all A REBEL FEW”

That motto comes from a band philosophy that as individuals, we’ve all dealt with the feelings of not belonging or fitting into the status quo.

“We’ve always been seen as the black sheep and proud of it because we never liked the notion of simply conforming to what society has had us believe to be “normal”. A Rebel Few is badge for all those who feel abandoned by societies “standards” and are looking for refuge. A place where they belong and find strength in like minded souls.” says vocalist Chris Raposo.

A heavy hitter of Southern rock with an injection of groove, A REBEL FEW is comprised of ex-West Memphis Suicide members Chris Raposo (Vocals-Guitar), Barry Martin (Guitar), Chris Spiers (Drums) along with Adam Shortreed (Bass). Playing music to fill the void not only for themselves, but for those who connect with their sound, the band has already shared the stage with Steel Panther, Jackyl, Skid Row, Killer Dwarfs, Anvil, Kill Devil Hill, Texas Hippie Coalition, My Darkest Days, The Headstones, and Danko Jones all before their debut album ‘As The Crow Flies’ is set for release on April 22nd, 2016.

The debut is produced by Sterling Winfield (Pantera, Damageplan, Hellyeah, Texas Hippie Coalition) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Rush, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Beastie Boys, Pantera) to impact your speakers with its heavy guitars, huge rhythm section and a gravel-blasted soulful voice for straight up in your face rock n roll to add to their lyrical themes of empowerment and overcoming the worst in life as they see it.

Raposo, the main lyric writer says “My lyrics mostly stem from a childhood of being shunned for not adhering to what everyone saw as normal and being persecuted for simply being who I was. The music has always been my therapist.”

As lead by example with the group’s single Rebel Few, a song about unity and belonging. Overall the album has a message of “Don’t let anything or anyone tell you can’t achieve what you want to, be who you are despite what others think you should be and don’t change who you are just to appease the masses.”

Van Halst’s World of Make Believe is a very solid debut. Fans of Gothic Rock/Metal will find a lot to enjoy. The album is nicely engineered to bring out the best in Kami’s voice, but the entire band is clear and present throughout.
