“The EP is a re-record of our first 1991 demo, which we never promoted because it sounded so awful. We skipped a ballad from that demo which I personally found too soft and which would have taken forever to record. Otherwise, we simply kept the original song order. I personally expect our music to have far more attention than when we were formally active 90-95. A lot of younger people listen to similar music, and many have shown interest. About The EP Artwork:
It is a 2.0 version of our original demo cover, which shows a few nefarious things occurring on this planet, i.e., violence, pollution, intolerance.
Things are so similar now that I feel like I am 21 again.
About the EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
A bit hard. Let’s say an image frozen in time of where our minds were back then.
Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
1. “Y?” (“Why?”) It is pretty much death metal-like and describes the life of survivors of a nuclear war retreating underground and devolving.
2. “Decreței” was initially entitled “Merry Christmas Ceausescu” but back then the reference was far more relevant since he was executed ( on Christmas Day) the year before we wrote the song. The new title simply describes the children his natalist policies forced to live in squalid conditions.
This is the very first song we actually put together as Foreshadow, and the music was entirely written by Kurt.
3. “This Harvest That You’ve Sown,” which I wrote, is about ecological concerns. I was an activist during my youth, and I first started speaking publicly about environmental concerns in 1978 at the age of 8. So it is a lifelong vocation for me.
4. “As Heroes Die” was inspired by all the anti-military speech of the time; it was our “Disposable Heroes”.
I was heavily inspired by the movie “Jacob’s Ladder”. I took musical inspiration from local bands, especially Sword.
5. “Here Down on Earth” The title track is like a general synthesis of what went ( and still goes) wrong. These general patterns that keep repeating themselves regardless of whether we are a primitive or technological society keep us at a low evolutionary level. Musically, this song was very collaborative, and I kind of forgot who wrote what.
As a rule of thumb, I am more the dude who writes dramatic, classical-sounding riffs while Kurt is “Mr. Groove”.

Foreshadow was formed in 1990 and is composed of Patrick Loisel ( Augury), Kurt Clifford ( Vantablack Warship), Pierre Pitre (Arseniq33), and Patrick Knup (Clearwater Deathblow). Together, they released 3 demos and 1 full-length album in the 90s. Now, 30 years later, they have rejoined forces to record a 5-song EP slated for release on October 2nd 2026. Foreshadow opened for many Montreal acts in the 90s, some of which persevered and are now internationally acclaimed, including Unexpect, Quo Vadis, Martyr, Obliveon, and Kataklysm.
