TALES OF THE TOMB Announce New Bassist + Share Bass Playthrough ‘Sinful Messiah’ Off Conspiracy EP “Volume Two: Mendacium”

Edmonton death metal duo Tales of The Tomb have been a two-man wrecking crew for a while now, but today, the band is happy to share the news that they will commence as a trio with the addition of new bassist Jonii Guns. In addition to him joining, the band is sharing his bass playthrough for the track ‘Sinful Messiah’ off of their latest EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” unleashed this past September.

Teaming up with NoCleanSinging, the band is premiering the bass playthrough HERE.

Bassist Jonii Guns comments:

“I’m excited to start working with the boys in Tales of The Tomb and moving into the next stage of my music career! I’m originally from the UK and moved to Canada nearly 3 years back. Previously I worked mostly with heavy metal, hardcore, and metalcore bands doing some touring and session work with the likes of The Hero Dies First, Faces of Eve, and years and years ago I helped out a little with L.A. Guns from… well LA! It was an awesome time playing with those bands and I have to say I wouldn’t be the musician I am without all the experiences I had with them! When first listening to Tales of The Tomb, I was unsure about the music having never played this kind of metal in the past, but after being sent the tabs and playing with the music, I really enjoyed it and the challenge of playing something new. Plus, I’m into alien conspiracy stuff, so I was super stoked when I heard all the different content with a darker theme! It makes it far more interesting! I’m really excited to be working with the lads on new material and incorporating my sound into the new EP and content we have planned.”

Tales of The Tomb‘s latest EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies, and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. It’s also a vicious bite of grinding blast beats, technical shredding accompanied by venomous guttural lows. It was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson along with featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.

The EP is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. The Nightmare Hall (4:05)
2. Faul (3:02)
3. The Sinful Messiah (4:14)
4. Dyatlov Pass Incident (3:52)
5. Nine Eleven (4:46)
6. Mermaid In A Manhole (3:33)
EP Length: 23:44

About:

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.  Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (guitar, vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

– 30 –

“Overall, I recommend this album to death metal fans of all varieties. It is a fun album with a lot of great riffs. Also, I highly recommend reading the lyrics and learning about the conspiracy theories behind the songs.” – Metal Temple

“Volume Two: Mendacium is six songs of punishing metal fit for listeners with the heaviest of taste. Whether you’re spending time carving pumpkins or watching slasher movies this Halloween season, be sure to make room on your playlist for Tales of the Tomb.” – Surviving The Golden Age

” Their new, independently released EP is heavy as ice and laced up with razor-sharp production. Volume Two: Mendacium is a non-stop frosty riff fest, delivered on a moose-poutine platter of awesome production thanks to the Canucks over at The Grid. Slapshot your wallets & pick up this death metal gem.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“The need to head bang is strong with this one, and it made for an excellent addition to my Death Metal library.” – New-Transcendence

“All in all, Tales of the Tomb’s latest installment is a rather subtle tale that is more akin to a destructive musical journey through morbid lyrical themes and passages.” – Metal Trenches

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 10, 2020

For fans of Motley Crue, Guns and Roses, Skid Row (old records), Breaking Benjamin

25 Years In The Making Canada’s SVEN GALI Return With EP “3”; Full Stream Premiere On Exclaim!

Out June 12th via RFL Records

25 years in the making, Canada’s SVEN GALI will be releasing their highly anticipated EP entitled “3” on Friday, June 12, 2020, via RFL Records. Known for their fusion of 80s screaming hard rock and 90s blazing metal along with extensive touring worldwide, sharing the stage with legends such as April Wine, Foreigner, Pearl Jam, and Def Leppard, Sven Gali‘s new EP is their long-awaited follow up to 1995’s “In Wire” and 1992’s gold-selling and Juno Award-nominated self-titled debut album released on BMG Music Canada that featured hits “Under The Influence” and “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore”.

Before the EP officially drops, the band has teamed up with Exclaim! for its full stream premiere HERE.The EP features previously released singles “Kill The Lies” (2018) and “You Won’t Break Me” (2019) both produced by David Bendeth (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, Bring Me The Horizon) along with new tracks “Now” and “Hurt” produced by Jon Howard (Threat Signal), “3” marks the return of one of Canada’s favourite bands.

Vocalist Dave Wanless comments:

“This is Dave from Sven Gali.  After 25 years of laying low, we are back in the game with our new EP “3”.  The disc showcases our musical influences and is a genuine representation of who we are as a band and as people now.  Sven Gali is and always has been a rock band – in your face, full throttle, attitude, and passion.  Making this record without the pressures of a major label looking over our shoulders was liberating – we did what we wanted for ourselves.  We hope that people dig in, but at the end of the day, we did this record because we love making music together, and we did it exactly how we wanted to.”

Returning to begin the next chapter of SVEN GALI, the band is here to stay and take on the 00s, which has been very evident with sold-out Canadian shows during 2018 and 2019, with a promise once the world overcomes the COVID 19 Pandemic to continue to play solo and festival dates in North America, Europe and beyond.

“3” will be available on digital platforms from RFL Records HERE and CD HERE.
Track Listing:
1. Kill The Lies (3:38)
2. You Won’t Break Me (3:40)
3. Now (4:59)
4. Hurt (3:10)
EP Length: 15:28

SVEN GALI is:
Dave Wanless – Vocals
Andy Frank – Guitars
Shawn Minden – Bass
Sean Williamson – Guitars

“3 is full of heavy, chugging riffs and howled choruses, mixing the melodies of ’80s hard rock with the aggression of ’90s metal.” – Exclaim!

“The time is now for Sven Gali to rock our world once again, with their short and sweet brand new EP being a solid statement that although the band might have been gone for a while, they still have a lot of fuel to burn in the name of Rock N’ Roll.” – The Headbanging Moose

“It’s a banger and a return befitting of their iconic status in the metal.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Of course, 3 leaves you wanting more. Maybe it’s a teaser for more stuff to come from Sven Gali? ” – Boston Rock Radio

“I was super excited to be given the opportunity to review 3. I remember picking up their debut album when it was first released and being blown away then. In 2020, I have been reminded of that overwhelming feeling. The songs are extremely well written and do not sound dated at all. When June 12th rolls around, grab yourself a copy of this killer EP.” – I’m Music Magazine

Discography:
2014 – Beyond the Apocalypse – EP
2015 – End of Days – LP
2018 – Sinister – LP
TBA – Eclipse – EP

“Their new song “Spiral Into Insanity” has a strong death metal foundation, including very melodic leads, but there’s more than enough groovy thrash inspiration and even a hint of black metal there. ” – Decibel Magazine

“‘Sinister’ is a high-energy track launched by heartless riff jabs, ear-scouring string squeals, and neck-snapping drumwork. The vocals come for your throat, too, in an effusion of heartless roars and face-scraping shrieks, and the song is accented by flurries of spidery, darting fretwork and by a pair of flashy, fluid, but demented solos. It becomes a thrashing gallop, but without becoming any less venomous in its delivery.” – No Clean Singing

“As the evolution of Ominous Eclipse has progressed, the band have hybridized a seething core of death metal sound with elements of thrash, black metal, and melodic death metal. But if “The Horde” is a sign of what’s to come next, they’re reaching for new levels of monstrous and electrifying destructiveness.” – No Clean Singing

“Whilst we wait with anticipation to hear the rest of the record ”Sinister” is yet another outstanding track on what looks set to be a very exciting record from ‘Ominous Eclipse’.” – Spirit Level Magazine

“a game changing release for Ominous Eclipse that places them center stage for my pick of the best Canadian Metal release this year….Every track stands strongly on its own, thanks to the band’s immense talent and flawless production. Ominous Eclipse is a band that carries the banner for the N.W.O.C.D.M. with pride and distinction. Out September 14th on all streaming platforms, I would recommend Sinister to fans of Death, Iron Maiden, Infernal Majesty and Gojira.” – Hellbound

“Demonstrating their ability to blend genres within metal to create a compelling album, this is an impressive sophomore delivery. Each track brings something different and feels refreshing even after multiple listens.” – Splice Magazine

“The music is technical, but not overbearing; it is fast but there are a lot of moments throughout the album where the music is allowed to breathe to convey more than just one feeling or mood. The music is infectious, catchy and would definitely sound amazing in a live setting. I think this change in sound really benefits the band. They are very cohesive and they can play a wide array of music. They wear their influences on their sleeves but never do they imitate. ” – Metal Utopia

“Sinister by Ominous Eclipse delivers a raw, refreshed and refined take on Death Metal, and have the potential to finalize their own sound and create something fantastic. For a local band of their stature though, the Quartet have me impressed, and if they continue to experiment with their demented harmonies, INSANE riffs and lyrical content, in a few short years they’ll be touring with bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder and Revocation.” – Overdrive Music Mag

““Sinister” est riche en variations, œuvre humaine et chaude qui malgré un son glacial offre des moments de pur bonheur.” – Music Waves

“With its undeniably relentless guitar riffs mixed with clean and crisp percussive elements, instrumentally Ominous Eclipse creates so many great harmonies that feel very reminiscent of bands like Children of Bodom and the Black Dahlia Murder. While the vocals for this band are pretty much your standard deep guttural growls that we are used to hearing in such pieces of music, it is the way the vocals experiments with his lows and highs that really offsets them from other bands of the same vein. Thematically, they tend to delve into some personal and moral issues of humanity, making this an interesting listening experience from track to track.” – Stencil Mag

““Lost at Sea” is an eight-minute, melodic death epic that really sees the Amon Amarth influence coming to the fore, blended with an almost NWOBHM sensibility…Sinister might not be the most polished of releases, but it’s an ambitious and intriguing one and Ominous Eclipse are certainly a band to watch out for in future.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“The crowd was stellar at Mavericks, where each of the four bands were well represented by their fan bases. Opening on the night were Ominous Eclipse, whose chunky, frantic thrash metal din was led by their howling frontman. Largely drawing from their 2015 album End of Days, the four-piece pounded through six songs, tackling tracks like “Pestilence,” Abandoned” and the album’s particularly solid title track. Helping to limber the crowd for the chaos to come, they called for a “wall of death” in the confines of the club and the fans delivered, clearing the centre of the floor before the opposing sides barrelled into one another, bodies flying everywhere.” – Exclaim! (Live Review opening for Kalmah April 2016)

About:

An ambitious band passionate about writing and playing extreme music, Ottawa based metal band Ominous Eclipse has been tearing up the local scene since 2014. Founded by Graham Murphy (guitar/vocals) and Ryan Clements (bass/vocals), and later joined by James Close (guitar/vocals) and  Jeremiah Marshall (drums) the band draws their inspiration from a wide variety of genres creating a unique sound all their own.

Founding member and movie buff Graham Murphy explains how they came up with the band name which was partially inspired by the movie “Pitch Black”.

“Ominous Eclipse follows the idea of the world falling into eternal darkness. The envisioned concept is of the earth being blocked off from the sun leaving the world in uncertainty and falling into chaos.”

Following the origin of the band name, many of the lyrical themes pay homage to the plots from movies and books and sometimes situations in everyday life. Shortly after their formation in 2014, Ominous Eclipse released a four-song EP “Beyond The Apocalypse” with a full length “End Of Days” following not long after in 2015. In 2018, they released their second full length and third studio release “Sinister”.

Not wanting to be easily categorized and predictable, the band finds that over their evolution from the first release they have moved away from thrashy overtones to become more diverse including more heavily stated melodic and technical sounds with a solid groove and death foundation. Ominous Eclipse has been gaining speed in their region opening for bands such as Revocation, The Agonist, and Kalmah and have also acquired an endorsement with Indie Guitar Co. They are looking forward to their next release, a planned EP for 2020 and spreading their music to a wider fan base.
