Prog-Sphere Premiere New Video ‘Seven Sisters’ By Prog Virtuosos OMNISIGHT
Out Now! New EP ‘Power of One’

Bringing progressive metal into new dimensions especially for those who really enjoy full explosive adventure, Vancouver virtuosos OmnisighT recently gave the world their latest effort ‘Power of One’. The EP showcases their highly regarded musicianship and finely wrought song-craft. As a whole ‘Power of One’ is a musical journey with a story concept to question the status quo and stand up against the oppression plus deceptions of the ruling class.
Teaming up with Prog-Sphere.com, OmnisighT are excited to share with fans their latest video ‘Seven Sisters’ in support of the EP.
Vocalist / guitarist Raj Krishna explains:
“I wrote the seven sisters riff just goofing around at home. I really didn’t even like it that much! I still wanted to try it out live in the room though, and Chris our drummer put this super funky groove on it and I got a vocal off it right away. It’s loosely based on the seven sisters oil cartel BP, Shell, Exxon, Texaco Standard Oil and the like. Basically it’s about befriending people just to get at their resources. It’s also in a 7/8 time signature through a lot of the song, so that’s me just trying to be clever!”

‘Power of One’ is now streaming along with CD and digital download at https://omnisight.bandcamp.com/album/the-power-of-one
Also available on iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online retailers.
Drummer Chris Warunki comments on the release:
“The Power Of One is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. Guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists will all have something in-store for them here with this EP. We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically. Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a “more is more” approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!”
If you’re in the Vancouver, BC area, you can catch the guys performing their local CD release show on March 11th at the Astoria with support from My Mother The Carjacker and Did You Die. Full event details can be found here.

About:
Known for their formidable musicianship, virtuosic guitar solos and powerful songs, OmnisighT is masterfully blurring the lines between melodic hard rock and progressive metal. Beginning as collaboration between vocalist/guitarist Raj Krishna and drummer Chris Warunki, they created the impressive ‘Path’ debut album in 2012. Their live line-up was consolidated with the addition of Dave Shannon on bass and guitarist Blake Rurik. ‘Path’ was followed up by the 2013 ‘Wave Particle’ EP.
Like all truly visionary musicians, band co-founder Raj was driven to create unique music. “I’ve been writing and singing songs since I was a little kid. We never seemed to hear heavy prog music that had shredding and hooks at the same time. It always seems you get one or the other….Having technical musicianship with good song-writing, shredding licks, and big hooks was the whole idea.”
Raj sums up OmnisighT’s music thusly: ‘Proggy, hooky, shredding, sad, and powerful!’
While Raj is justifiably proud of OmnisighT’s recorded output, he sees the importance of performance. ‘Live is where the band really shines! We put on a show, running around smiling and shredding. The band plays with more intensity…we often give the headliners a run for their money.’

“The depth of talent in Canada often surprises us. Here is another superb band to add to the list. It remains to be seen how far “The Power Of One” takes OmnisighT. But one thing is for sure, it is an EP of which they can be incredibly proud.” – Maximum Volume Music
“If you’re going to attempt this sort of thing, you’d better have chops. Fortunately, (OmnisighT) have ’em, and how.” – Georgia Straight
“Their stage presence and technique is out of this world…I can safely say that the only guitarists I’ve seen live that instilled the same sort of awe in me as Raj Krishna were Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci himself.” – Prog Sphere
“great songwriting, fantastic lead guitar work…immediately on the first track, the intro “String Theory,” we are greeted by some immense guitar skills. Seriously, these guys are fucking fantastic.” – The Monolith
“deliciously retro, Zappa-meets-Malmsteen solos with at least one toe in the land of jazzy improv… guitar fiends should rush to check them out.” – Georgia Straight
“I have never been more impressed with a band that I had zero knowledge about. These guys play like they’ve been playing together since birth and clearly love what they do at a cellular level.” – Metal Titans

“Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy is Toronto and Canada’s very own Post-Hardcore / Nu Metal Hybrid; a band that melds every splintered off sub-genre you can imagine into one, stand alone, Rock sound. This is sonic seduction delivered with a serrated edge image. Sounds Like: Alexisonfire in dream” – The Scene Magazine
“Second band was Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy, which was a two-frontman band, with Adrian Pain handling melodic vocals and Jonathan Young handling the screaming vocals. When people think of two-frontman bands, they generally think of pop music, but metal has its fair share of bands with two frontmen. The use of the two vocal styles in each song was perfectly balanced where each one wasn’t over-used. Each one of their songs began with a soft melodic intro with soft vocals before turning aggressive. Every time Adrian would sing the melodic vocals, Jonathan Young would mouth along to the lyrics. The energy the band displayed really amped up the crowd and mosh pits erupted during each song.” (Live Review) – Metal Master Kingdom
“Toronto, Ontario all-core rockers Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy were so far ahead of their own game with Night School that I have a hard time keeping the volume turned down much below blow-my-fucking-eardrums-out every and anytime I listen! For those of you who think rock n roll is dead, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy would like to have a talk with you!” – My Indie Music Blog – Top Indie Albums/EPs of 2014
“Oh dear lord, I love this song! It’s some of my favorite styles all rolled up in one terrific song. There are clean vocals, dirty vocals a double bass and awesome guitar riffs. There are a couple of vocalists in this group and I love them both! The floaty guy has that quality to his vocals that always makes me smile. He has a good range and can hold a note. I like how the screaming/growly vocals are present but not in your face, almost like an echo effect. That occasional double bass damn near makes the song worth listening to all by itself. I love how newer bands are using that in a more mainstream style song application. It’s a great intro to harder metal songs. It’s what brought me into the fold. I more than like this song. I love this song. It’s going on my server and I’m putting it on my phone. I would match this one up with a couple of the songs I’ve reviewed here. Make sure you check out this band, it’s certainly one to watch!” – MusicBank
“Just treated my ears to The Dead Sexy’s Picture Day at Night School and it was exactly that, a true treat! Get this album, you’ll be delighted you did!… It’s just out n out sexy!” – TheRockAsylum
“Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy have thrown down the gauntlet. You can sense the urgency of going way beyond what has been done before with their new release “Picture Day At Night School”. The energy is infectious. The recording is impeccable. The bar has been raised.” – Code Zero Radio
“WOW! Now that’s epic!!!!! I really love all of the songs, they definitely have that original sound that you won’t hear from any other metalcore band! Everyone sounds great here on this record (Picture Day At Night School) and I’m just so honoured to be the first one to feature a song from the album right at midnight on the date it’s released! Definitely trying to promote like crazy to remind everyone that next week’s episode as well as the next 8 episodes are going to be historic because we’ve got some of Toronto’s BEST (The Dead Sexy) being featured for the #OneBigRush segment! Great work to all! Hope to see you on the bus next week!” – The Rush – VIBE 101.5 FM (Toronto)
“I think it (Picture Day At Night School) is the best they (The Dead Sexy) have done to date! I really like it!” – Rock 365 Radio
In 2010, vocalist and songwriter Adrian Pain endured events that would have left most men shattered and broken. Unwilling to take prescribed medications for his severe depression, he found inner strength in the form of the lyrics and music that sprang from his suffering. Together with his son and drummer Ethan Clark, formed a new family in the shape of their band, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy. Adrian describes their music as “torment and triumph, sonic seduction.” They have transcended their initial influences of Deftones, Alexisonfire, and Of Mice & Men, to a genre of metal they have given a name of its own. “We like to call what we do ‘Allcore’ … To break it down as far as metal sub-genres go, I think what best describes us would be a blend of Progressive & Nu-metal, with Post-Hardcore & Metalcore …or NuMetalcore if you’d like!”
The artist Adrian resembles most is Richey Edwards of Manic Street Preachers, another man possessed of lyrical muses and not afraid to gaze into the abyss of his own soul (Richey’s reply to a journalist who once questioned his integrity was to carve ‘4 Real’ into his own arm!). Great art truly can be born from suffering, and Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy’s music has a sincerity lacking in so many artists.
Their new EP ‘Mixed Messages’ set for release on February 10, 2017 continues their solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics.
Pain describes the ‘Mixed Messages’ EP:
“This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like. If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort. What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.”
Evolving from past EPs, 2014’s ‘Picture Day At Night School’ and their 2013 debut ‘The First One Is Free’ along with Adrian Pain’s solo full length 2012’s ‘Love Letters & Suicide Notes’, ‘Mixed Messages’ is a mixture of Adrian Pain’s solo work and The Dead Sexy’s band work with subtle messages that they hope would help their fans deal with negativity in different aspects of their lives.
The band comments on each EP track.
#1 – In Time, is the realization of the selfish world around us, and the power within each of us to actually change.
#2 – Mixed Messages, the title track is literally an audio horror movie / Investigation Discovery episode based on your stereotypical long term relationship *feat Cleighton Presutti.
#3 – Say It Like You Mean It featuring Rachel Gosling, the message is to be honest. We wanted to put “I Love You” blatantly out there in a song. It’s almost like there is a fear of saying it. The intent is to inspire people to love more, to use the term properly and not take it lightly.
#4 – Day One feat Kyle Clyma, The day we realize what is really going on in our world is the day it all changes. Hopefully This song is the ‘wake up’ call.
#5 – Somewhere, this is a stripped back version of “Somewhere Out There” off the Picture Day At Night School EP. This song is meant to show our diversity and make us more appealing in the commercial world.
Just as they deliver shock and awe on record, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy’s live performance is a constant energy exchange. Their sets have a life of their own. One minute the whole room can be bouncing, the next there may be a pit, or there can be a complete hush over the crowd while they catch their breath and listen intently as the band engages them and the fans interact back with them. This showmanship has lead Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy to blow up the Toronto music scene, headlining major clubs such as Sound Academy, Virgin Mobile Mod Club, Hard Rock Café for Hard Rock Rising, Bovine Sex Club, The Rivoli, Lee’s Palace, and The Horseshoe Tavern along with locally supporting touring bands such as Mushroomhead, Wednesday 13, Eyes Set To Kill, Anvil, Killer Dwarfs, Sid Wilson / Slipknot After Party, Die Mannequin, Carol Pope, Sumo Cyco, Dance Laurie Dance, Castle and more. The band has also taken a foot hold of the Southern Ontario touring circuit, performing in cities surrounding the greater Toronto area and festivals such as the Ottawa Field Fest, Landmark Events, Canadian Music Week, Kitchener Music Festival to name a few.
Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy’s new EP ‘Mixed Messages’ will be available via All-Core Records on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Spotify and all major online retailers as of February 10, 2017.

Montreal Viking Metal VALFREYA Streaming Full Album ‘Promised Land’

In 2009, vocalist Crook wanted to play something akin to folk metal, but even more aggressive and fast paced. Combining Valhalla and the Norse goddess Freya, the band has been creating music and lyrics to revolve around stories inspired by Norse mythology.
Orchestral and death metal with a hint of folk music, the prolific VALFREYA have released two well-received EPs (‘First Chronicles’ and ‘Acoustic Chronicles’), an impressive 2012 debut album entitled ‘Path To Eternity’ via Maple Metal Records and have just unleashed their second ‘Promised Land’ independently on January 13, 2017.
“The album is a journey through a lot of emotions and situations, giving life to a host of varied songs, each with a different sound and personality. The story behind the album is about Eric The Red discovering America and how he defies the Gods, but pays a hefty price for that defiance. ” says VALFREYA about the release. “It’s a step-up in sound quality and has more intricate guitar parts and better-written music that with every listen you can discover parts you hadn’t noticed before. On top of that we have an original sound and songs! We want to give more to people that enjoy good riffs!”
Just as you hear on record, VALFREYA promises the fans a unique live experience. What you hear on the album is what you get on stage. All vocals, whether clean or screams, are done by the band members both in studio and live. They dress in a fantasy-like Viking fashion to go with their story-telling, which gives an interesting visual aspect, while delivering the instrument-playing with precision. VALFREYA has shared the stage with Arkona, Dark Tranquility, Nekrogoblikon, Necronomicon, Koorpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tyr and Insomnium.
