Vancouver, BC’s WITHOUT MERCY released their latest EP ‘Mouichido’ during May of last year. The EP was a rebirth for the band as it was a re-release of re-recorded material from their 2014 EP ‘Reborn’. ‘Mouichido’ is the Japanese word for “Repeat” or “to do one more time” and is perfectly titled for the EP to signify its re-release of previously recorded versions that now feature new vocalist Alex Friis and bass tracks recorded by Tristan Martin plus live performance being done by Ryan Loewen. Newly added to the EP was also a guest appearance by vocalist Mark Hunter of Chimaira on the track ‘In Waves’, which the band is releasing a new lyric video for and have teamed up with Bravewords.com to exclusively premiere.
Without Mercy guitarist DJ Temple had this to say:
“Working with Mark Hunter and seeing what he could do with one of our tracks was a pretty unreal experience!”

About:
Tenacity, work ethic and originality. There’s no excuses anymore.
Vancouver-based Without Mercy certainly stays true to its name. Ruthless and menacing, these Canadian metal titans have cultivated and redefined the phrase, “Fuck Pussy Metal”.
Founded in 2004, Without Mercy has gone from strength to strength over the years. They released their first EP “All Else Fails” in 2007 completely independently and used its humble beginnings to start the catapulting of performances, internet presence and radio play. In 2009, Without Mercy went on to record their self-titled full length album using the same team that worked on records by Devin Townsend, Mudvayne, and Marilyn Manson. Without Mercy rode the attention wave of their self-titled debut, using the escalation to begin a relentless performance schedule that would lead them far from their hometown and include over 200 live performances. No stranger to tenacity, in only a few short years Without Mercy have achieved; being the only indie metal band in Western Canada to have two tracks available on Rock Band 3, being featured in Tattoo Savage Magazine, and pioneering the phrases, ‘You Smell Like A Bitch’ and ‘Fuck Pussy Metal’ – which have now become synonymous with the band.
In 2014, Without Mercy unleashed third studio release, “Reborn”. Another massive evolution for the band, Without Mercy sought to bring back the organic metal sound and combine it with a high production standard. Fast forward to 2016, some line up changes with a new vocalist and bassist, the band shared with fans re-recorded material from ‘Reborn’ on their latest EP ‘Mouichido’ that even featured Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter on their track ‘In Waves’. The EP was unleashed on May 27th, 2016 and was supported with a steady rotation of touring and appearances across Canada and the USA. All of course, independently.

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy will make you break a sweat with ruthless metal tunes from its newest EP, Mouichido, which features Chimaira’s Mark Hunter.” – Vue Weekly
“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet ply their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments.” – Decibel Magazine
“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” – Pure Grain Audio

Drawing from the future rather than the past, ERA 9 merge Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic Dance Music to create their own unique sonic architecture, which they dub “TrapRock”, describing it as ‘revolutionary, unparalleled, eclectic, melodic and heavy.”
“When we formed it was like an undeniable force; a magnetic field that surrounded our individual selves; that when we got close enough to each other, there was no ignoring the fact that our mutual passion for music, performing and writing would become a true reality if we stuck together. We’re open-minded and appreciative of all genres of music. The idea of ‘TrapRock’ was created by this admiration of different musical styles.” says Guitarist Jona Dhe Paganon.
Working together as a collective, their dedication and professionalism has lead this Montreal, QC based band to tour the US with Trapt, Pop Evil, Drowning Pool, Gemini Syndrome and Saving Abel, along with being nodded as opening support for Hed PE, POD, From Ashes To New, Saliva, Filter, Gilby Clarke, Sebastian Bach, Hoobastank, Art Of Dying and The Veer Union, also performing at the 100th Grey Cup Festival w/ Sam Robert’s Band and Treble Charger.
ERA 9 continues to demonstrate that their unique live experience brings concert goers from different scenes together and party hard to their genre-bending sound. Their music touches each end of the spectrum, with heavy guitar breakdowns and trap drops, accompanied by epic EDM build-ups and big bass, all meshed with hip-hop and melodic vocals. Their stage performance is the real deal; a one of kind audience engaging force echoing an experience to be remembered long after the show is done. Picture their TrapRock sound, with backdrop video projections, sequenced light and smoke with a pit of fans just dancing from beginning to end! You’ll want to be there. Watch this video, it sells itself. Era 9 Live at Foufs – Montreal, QC.
ERA 9’s next full length album ‘Gravity’ is a musical portrayal of the risks they took, ignoring genre formats and flipping the world of music as we know it.
In contrast to their earlier sound, this new line up has given them the creative freedom for eclectic songwriting, inspiring them to think outside the box. Hear “TrapRock” on record for the first, conceived through “Gravity”.
“We love how our music can bring everyone together and we’re excited to share it with the world. We’ve been releasing music since 2011 and toured across the US, supporting really great bands, and now we truly feel that over the years, we have come into our own with this next opus for fans. We believe that we’re in a new era of music that isn’t limited to one style of listener. We cater to all who open themselves to it! We value creative freedom in music and we promote open-mindedness and imagination.” Adds male vocalist Anthony Lalla.
ERA 9’s ‘Gravity’ will be available on all major online retailers as of May 5, 2017.

““Mother’s Milk” really is a head-spinner — a lurching, twisted, off-kilter, and thoroughly riveting display of vocal viciousness and instrumental pyrotechnics.” – No Clean Singing
“Slagduster deliver grooved rhythms, technical riffing, odd time signatures and pummeling vocals on new single “Peeping Ron”” – The Sludgelord
“an album packed with chaos and brutal disorder that is worthy of any mosh-pit.” – 925 Rebellion
“9 songs long, it doesn’t have time to get old or run out of imagination, something it has plenty of! Ending on the best song of the album, Untouchable. The ingredients combining here to give an exciting plate of metal that ensures you’re not going to be forgetting about Deadweight anytime soon.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life
“The entire album is a solid piece of work from its instrumentals to its lyricism. ” – Canadian Beats
“…their technical metal, with a lot of a-rhythmic patterns and mega-intensive guitar work, is very hard to find…an open, complex and adventurous album and is definitely a recommendation.” – Lords of Metal
“Slagduster are a sincerely unique proposition and these guys are anything but a deadweight, unshackled by the genre tropes that drag many a good band down and flying free in the process” – Worship Metal
“witness their antics and groove metal.” – Beatroute (Live review Armstrong Metalfest 2016)
“this is one seriously cool album — a collection of inventive, head-spinning songs played by four extremely talented musicians.” – No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)
“Although Slagduster’s music thrives on instrumental variation on themes within each song, with dynamic tempos and even occasional changes in time signature, the songs remain anchored to driving rhythms that organize the jumping, darting complexity of the music.”- No Clean Singing (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)
“This release is oddly appealing, intriguing, a little different and undeniably catchy.
Step outside your comfort zone and give this diverse chunk of metal a spin you may well be surprised as was I. Definite groove, unpredictable melodies all in a style that’s wholly enjoyable.” – Thy Demons Be Scribblin (review of 2010’s Nature. Humanity. Machine.)

Hailing from Grand Forks, B.C, named after, as vocalist Shane Sherman explains, “a slang term local to our area for a piece of machinery that was used in the mines over a hundred years ago.” Isolation has most certainly bred inspiration in the shape of Slagduster. “We are the only four musicians in our small town driven to form a progressive metal band.”
Inspired by such giants as Goijira. Sikth, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between The Buried And Me, Shane describes Slagduster’s sound as “progressive, groovy, creative, unique, heavy.”
Shane feels their new album ‘Deadweight’ will be well received by fans. “Naturally our sound has come a long way since our debut release in 2010. The music is more complex, and much more developed, still heavy, but even more groove based. Listeners can expect to be challenged by focusing on the compositions, or lost in the musical landscape.”
Like the ancient machine they are named after, Slagduster work hard to draw art from base material, Shane describes their writing process as: “Meticulous. Lengthy. Not always pleasant, but we’ve learned to keep productive through compromise. We all appreciate the results of our hard work….All nine of these tracks have been very slowly and carefully crafted. No songs were scrapped, but all were completely revamped continuously for years. We put way more effort into collaborative songwriting, which has significantly advanced our original sound. Each track contains a variety of things, ranging from rippin’ riffs and tremolo melodies to soft transitional parts and psychedelic interludes on top of constant heaviness and groove.”
Of course, these songs are transformed in Slagduster’s live show, which Shane describes as “high energy, bordering on ridiculous, with offensive banter and annoying antics from an attention hungry frontman. Well executed yet fun and light-hearted performances perfected over years of touring.”
‘Deadweight’ is due out on May 5, 2017 and will be available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Spotfiy and all major online retailers.
