0 Metal Crypt – Terrifier – Weapons of Thrash Destruction (Test Your Metal Records)

It’s a pedal-to-the-metal thrash-o-rama and these guys do it with a take-no-prisoners attitude. You’ll hear the evil badassery of old Slayer mixed with the speed and cleanliness of Master of Puppets-era Metallica and with a hint of crossover Thrash here and there on this one. All in all, a fun album that just makes you want to hit “play” again.

About:

It’s not every day a band creates a whole new genre: So all hail the splendidly-named Shotgunner with their ‘post apocalyptic western party metal’.

Indeed, if you can imagine the soundtrack to an inebriated Mad Max and Snake Plissken living the vida loca in Las Vegas, you’re still only halfway to imagining the party metal mania that Shotgunner invoke.

Shotgunner aren’t letting the grass grow under their feet, as they follow up their debut ‘Locked and Loaded’ album with a Christmas EP entitled ‘Feliz Navidad’, which guitarist / vocalist Diego hopes their fans will “take as an opportunity to play for their families and further alienate themselves from their loved ones”.

Yehaw! That’s what Christmas is all about!

Diego reveals Shotgunner has a bottomless pit of party inspired metal. “We have an ever-growing list of hundreds of funny ideas, song titles, specific lines and themes. From that list we create songs that match the idea. Luke and Brandon will then flesh out the lyrics for the song. We’ll then enter the studio, consume many beers, and hit record. For the songs to have that genuine party sound, we figure we have to be partying while create them. If it makes us laugh then we know we’re on the right track! For instance, ‘Let’s Party Merry Gentlemen’ is a take on one of the most metal-sounding Christmas songs ever. With a simple, groovy rhythm section, the riffs and vocals are able to stand out. This will definitely be a live staple for the foreseeable future!”
You have to admire a band that practices what it preaches! Diego sums up the ethos of Shotgunner thusly. “We strive to be as entertaining as possible. Ridiculous song titles, funny interludes, burped gang vocals, creative uses of our instruments, anything we can do to make our music stand out from the bunch!”

About:

The terrifically titled Terrifier brings their thrash metal apocalypse straight outta Vancouver BC. As the Metal God himself Rob Halford memorably sang: ‘fast and furious/we ride the universe’, that very much sums up Terrifier’s dedication to the glory of thrash!
Originally known as Skullhammer, Terrifier released their debut album ‘Destroyers of the Faith’ back in 2011, so this is no flash-in-the-pan thrash band!
Incorporating jackhammer drums, bulldozing bass-lines, a twin-lead attack that leaves posers pulped in it’s wake, and vocals that can level mountains, Terrifier’s motto could well be ‘thrashing is our business…and business is good’
Terrifier take what has gone before, the old gods, Metallica, Slayer, and use them to birth new sounds, the old gods are eternal but hail the new gods too!
Vocalist, bassist and founder member Chase Thibodeau explains Terrifier’s reason for being. ‘We formed this band because we love thrash and play what we think sounds cool…our music is fast, technical, heavy and melodic and shredding.’ Indeed, this is a band that truly puts the shred inside your head!
It’s their inspirations that drive them to create such perspiration-inducing music as Chase explains: ‘Adrenaline, speed and aggression….that’s the feeling we want to put into people….We started steering more towards an aggressive thrash sound…even being influenced by death metal!’
Their new release ‘Weapons of Thrash Destruction’ features such soon to be classics as ‘Bestial Tyranny’, ‘Skitzoid Embolism’ and ‘Nuclear Demolisher’ and ‘Sect of the Serpent’, a song inspired by Conan the Barbarian as Chase says ‘the idea was to trample the weak and hurdle the dead on this one!’
Chase sums up Terrifier’s new music: ‘We think people will enjoy this album and use our music to get pumped up for whatever life throws at them. It would be our honour to inspire others into thrash metal…the world needs more thrash!’
Terrifier’s new album ‘Weapons of Thrash Destruction’ is slated for release in January 2017 via Test Your Metal Records.

“Strike in the name of old school Metal, kneel before the gods of Metal that brought you the best music ever played in stereo, hail the insanity delivered by fast paced riffing and unholy melodic rhythms.” – Metal Temple

“This album (Weapons of Thrash Destruction) is straight up unapologetic thrash! Love the album.” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown

“with Weapons of Thrash Destruction have crafted and unleashed a thrash monster dedicated to the halcyon days of the Bay and an ode to the wild and reckless days of thrashing hard, thrashing fast and thrashing well. And it is GOOD. No, scratch that, it’s fucking great and draws it’s inspiration directly from Bonded By Blood, The Legacy, Eternal Nightmare and We Have Arrived. I swear, these guys exist solely on diet of beer, Exodus, Vio-Lence, Dark Angel, Testament and horror movie marathons and they wear their lives and their influences on their musical sleeves and Weapons is testament (See what I did there? Yeah, you see…) to that and is, as you’ve probably already guessed, absolutely thrashtacular. Suck in your guts, fasten your tight ass jeans and lace up your massive sneakers. It’s thrashin’ time… ” – Mass Movement Magazine
