SCISSORTOOTH has teamed up with Bravewords.com to promote their single ‘10 30’off of their full-length ‘Novagomorrah’ released on July 28th via Galy Records. Contrary to how the track name appears, it is in fact a calendar date — October 30 otherwise known as the Devil’s Night, which is an integral part of  the 1994 film The Crow. Vancouver’s old school thrashers had this to say about the song.

“‘10 30’ is the Devil’s night! What started as a jokey “oldies metal” riff became one of our favorite songs to play. Lyrics were inspired from a “Paradise Lost” quote in the movie The Crow and just the primeval urge of wanting to destroy everything around you and see it burn. The song maintains a solid pace and weight, it always slams hard live and we can’t wait to play it on tour. Thank you to Bravewords for hosting this track and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do” – Derek Lunblad,Guitar and Vocals.

Stream: http://bravewords.com/news/scissortooth-bravewords-streaming-new-song

‘Novagomorrah’ is just under 1 hour (58 min total) spread over tracks engineered and mixed by the band’s own, Shawn Hoskins, and mastered by Vancouver’s Greg Mindorff at Suite Sound Labs (Biff Naked, D.O.A., Finger 11). Their sound embodies the aggressive, yet groovy feeling of early Pantera braised with industrial samples throughout the album.

Biography

Scissortooth is a Canadian Thrash Metal band from Vancouver, B.C..  Formed in 2003 by Derek Lundblad (Vocalist/guitarist) and Shawn Hoskins (drummer), formerly from Mantra, moved to the west coast from Grande Prairie, A.B.. The current line-up comprises of founding members Lundblad, Hoskins, and Ken Firomski (bassist), Ken  (Empyria and Cradle to Grave) who moved from Granisle B.C.. (Empyria and Cradle to Grave).

The band’s melodic hooks, varying tempos, and aggressive musicianship alongside of original writing approach and unique timbre has given their songs a different edge to most modern acts. Influenced by a wide spectrum of sounds of bands like Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Type O Negative to Soundgarden, Tool, Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails have lent to the songwriting and arrangements a flavor that fills a void in today’s often bland musical climate.

Their debut full length, Novagomorrah is scheduled to be release July 28, 2015.

“I really got a Mastodon, like The Sword kind of vibe from your music”-Tiny and Plankman Show on Tap Detroit

“Scissortooth, a Canadian band hailing from Vancouver, have found the way to really transport listeners to the past, during thrash metal’s “death” years, when it struggled to find new ears. They take the genre and blend it with the music that was killing thrash, and metal in general: grunge, via Alice in Chains, who were the “metalhead’s grunge”, and even Soundgarden.” – Crown of Viserys

“Erupting in a very Static X sounding intro, the album quickly descends into a heated, thrashy fervor. Fasted paced triplets, driving rhythms and expansive vocal wails create an atmosphere immediately reminiscent of the thrash metal glory days of olde. “ – Canadian Beats

About:

Capturing the classic thrash sound of the Big Four in their prime; early Metallica, Testament, Slayer, and Megadeth as well as lesser known cult heroes Exodus, Annihilator, Forbidden and Havok.  FALLEN ANGELS is influenced by a wide range of 80’s thrash as well as classic metal from the 70’s and 80’s. The band combines these elements in a fresh, modern sounding album with the explosive riffs and solos that one might have expected to hear on the radio around 1989.  FALLEN ANGELS is a band that thrash fans and more classic metal oriented fans can agree on because the music is catchy but also very aggressive.

“Picking out the deadwood from the glut of thrash bands filling the thrash metal genre around the world is not easy but you would not go wrong by checking out this Seattle band as they write clever songs with some brilliantly played leads that are a standout.” – Ave Noctum

“”World In Decay” from Fallen Angels is a solid Thrash album that flies the old school flag” – Metal Only

“I most enjoy how Fallen Angels incorporate so many different types of songs and moments on World in Decay….the spirit of thrash metal is alive and well in Seattle (of all places) with Fallen Angels” – Metal Nation Radio

“If you were in love with the Bay Area scene, check this album out when it hits. And if you are a fan of irony, thrash coming from Seattle should show you that grunge is the loser in the long run of lasting metal mayhem. If you snag a copy, we’d love to hear what you think about it.” – National Rock Review

“These guys give it to you on a molten metal platter with a side of Voivod. This thrash band is bound to feed the need for speed….Every song captures your interest as layer upon layer of tracks there’s something different; little nuances, grace notes, and sweeps. It’s a wonderful earful of surgically placed notes amidst a hail storm of ice picks on your steel shore.” – Horror Metal Sounds

“Nearly every track on this album could be considered a highlight, but my favourites are “Fire At Eden’s Gate” and “Into The Abyss”…On the whole, “World In Decay” is a very impressive album, thanks in large part to the stellar musicianship and attention to detail in the songwriting. Hopefully this album breaks the band through in a much bigger way, because they are deserving of a lot of attention based on this album!” – Skull Fracturing Metal

“”World In Decay” is one of the best thrash metal albums that I have heard in long time.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Listening to World In Decay is a definite blast from the past. Fallen Angels incorporates various elements of Slayer, Megadeth and early Metallica. Songs are fast-paced, contain some political messages and, of course, have energetic guitar solos worthy of melting anyone’s face. Right off the bat, The Hammer’s Blow opens up the album with a short guitar solo, which sets the overall tone and pace for the entirety of the album.” – Screamer Magazine

“if you want intricate, tuneful thrash metal loaded with gratuitous leads and quasi-political lyrics, you’ve got it.” – Terrorizer

“think the weighty arrangements and acoustic sections of Metallica-meets-the technical wizardry of Forbidden, with hints of Realm’s progressive tendencies and Toxik’s shredding leads and shameless melodies.” – Terrorizer

“As The Big Four were known for that unique sound they helped to create and make popular. Thrash now lives on from Seattle with Fallen Angels.” – National Rock Review

“Pure US-Thrash” – Rock Hard

“From a savage, high-octane riff fest in “Legacy of Pain” to a mid-paced, pounding skull crusher “Descension into Madness”, Fallen Angels not only show their true ability to write thrash songs that stand out effortlessly, but are also determined to get their name on people´s lips for good – along with the excellence of their 2nd album, ENGINES OF OPPRESSION. This stuff is meant to kill, even from a long distance.” – Metal-Rules
