Montreal Blackened Thrash SHROUD Announces Canadian Tour Dates w/ HELLRIPPER

Debut Album “Pax Nocturna” Out Now!

L-R – Justin Cournoyer – Bass, Matteo Conti – Guitar and Vocals, Zack Osiris – Drums, Jordan Barillaro – Guitar

Rising from the shadows of Montreal’s extreme‑metal underground, SHROUD proudly announces a run of Canadian tour dates supporting Scotland’s speed‑metal powerhouse HELLRIPPER this November (dates listed below). The announcement follows the release of SHROUD’s debut full‑length album “Pax Nocturna”.

A blistering fusion of blackened thrash sharpened by death‑metal aggression and melodic‑metal atmosphere, “Pax Nocturna” marks a defining first chapter for one of Montreal’s most intense and uncompromising new acts. Lyrically, “Pax Nocturna” explores philosophy, anti‑religion, the abyss, and the darkest corners of human existence. Its overarching concept, Satanic Gnosticism, rejects imposed order and corrupt leadership in favour of embracing the chaos from which humanity originates.

“It’s the acknowledgement that we are our own gods and masters. It is peace within the night. It is Pax Nocturna,” says Conti.

The album’s artwork draws from the dark fantasy of Yoshitaka Amano, the surreal horror of Zdzisław Beksiński, and the mythic grandeur of The Lord of the Rings, depicting the four members in ritualistic worship of Murmur, Archduke and Lord of Hell.

SHROUD began when guitarist/vocalist Matteo Conti approached drummer Zack Osiris (Warsenal) during the height of the COVID‑19 lockdowns. With their previous projects stalled and the music scene frozen, the pair began writing in secret, week after week; riffs and ideas evolved into the earliest form of what would become “Pax Nocturna”. As the world reopened in 2022, the lineup solidified with Justin Cournoyer on bass and Jordan Barillaro joining after filling in for the band’s first show in November 2022. The chemistry was immediate. SHROUD was born, united, focused, and driven.

On stage, SHROUD delivers intensity, tightness, and emotional ferocity, already earning them slots alongside Exciter, Midnight, Wraith, Goatwhore, Vitriol, Necrofier, Wormwitch, Spiter, Gudsforladt, Tomarumvoid, Angelus Apatrida, Sorguinazia, and more.

Recommended for fans of Watain, Dissection, Hellripper, Skeletonwitch, and Necrophobic, “Pax Nocturna”, released on June 4th, 2026, is available now on all digital platforms, CD, and vinyl.

“Imagine the ferocity, the grit and attitude of ‘Power n Pain’ era Whiplash, add the nocturnal melodic majesty of Necrophobic, and then a heaping helping of D-beat (always appreciated). Vicious, limb twitchin’ and about as infectious as something you believe you might have picked up on a recent European vacation, but wish you hadn’t. Recc for fans of SkeletonWitch, Necrophobic, Hellripper and others who successfully manage to imbue ragin’ Thrash insanity with an exquisite sense of darkness. This scatches the itch, then successfully obliterates it!” 94/100 – Cult Metal Flix

“the Canadians are beyond any doubt and have put together a debut album that not only packs a serious punch in terms of aggression but also delivers enough memorable moments to perfectly balance frenzy, speed, and punchiness.” – PowerMetal.de

“There’s almost a black ‘n’ roll thing going on here, with some cool rocking solos that snap you out of the blackened onslaught here and there. There’s no shortage of heaviness here, and I love how Shroud have mixed the old and the new throughout the album; you never really know what’s going to hit you next. Lots of energy, not many parts to give you rest, Pax Nocturna is one of those albums that tortures your speakers and makes the house shake. Good stuff (duh).” – The Metal Crypt

“A definite early AOTY candidate with strong claims, 5 star Black/Thrash!… There’s a high amount of crushing chugging riffs across this full length and the leadwork is absolutely scorching across the board, shreddy solos with that classic heavy metal, Thrash phrasing with a few mid-paced ones thrown in that are topped off with a couple of whammy bar accents and tremolos in them. Some of these riffs just will absolutely pummel you, as they’re fast and unrelenting as hell; also, there’s one or two solos that appear in a single track too. The vocals on this aren’t just high black metal screams, but there’s creepy deep spoken word vocals, chants and a few death growls also; if you’re into absolutely groove filled Blackened Thrash then absolutely look no further than this masterpiece, absolutely don’t sleep on it, a definite AOTY contender personally. Rating: 10/10!” – Drako’s Metal Reviews

“With Pax Nocturna , SHROUD makes a striking statement that will allow them to carve out a prime spot among the new Canadian bands to watch.” – Ondes Chocs

“Some nice thrash with plenty of fury and speed beyond it. Rip-roaring riffs that will have your neck moving, I assure you. Vicious vocals also work here as they fit the music rather well. Production is good and solid, and those thrashy riffs just ripped my soul apart and in two. With thrash, for me it is the riffs, the speed and intensity, and this had it all. This will just pound you into the ground, showing little or no mercy. Thrash crushes.” – Chris Forbes – Extreminal

“Shroud’s debut is a vicious blackened thrash release with scorching guitar work, relentless percussion and a grim philosophical core.” – Heavy Metal Darkness

““Pax Nocturna” is a solid album of high-energy thrash packed with razor-sharp riffs. The guitars cut right to the bone, the drums pound relentlessly, and the bass rumbles like never before. This honest, sincere, and effective record, with its raw and brutal energy, is well worth discovering. ” – Music Waves

“Shroud’s debut is thus a classic representative of the product DIY (Do It Yourself), when the band’s actors are talented enough to provide for themselves… The debut work “Pax Nocturna” is an impressive example of modern blackened thrash.” – MetalForever

“The debut album from the thrash/death newcomers goes hard from start to finish! Right from the opener ‘The Eternal Void’ this thing is heavy, urgent and awesome, and it keeps its momentum for its full 45-minute runtime. The fact that it’s only nine songs in that time as well means that everything gets time to breathe, and everyone in the band gets time to shine. Highlights include ‘Merciless Tyrants’, ‘Diablivion’ and the epic closer, but the whole album is great from start to finish! It certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you are into the heavier end of metal, this is absolutely worth a spin. The band have a bright future ahead of them, and in years to come people will look at this release as their big launching pad. 8.5/10” – Overtone Magazine

“Shroud’s latest offering, ‘Pax Nocturna’, is a relentless onslaught of blackened thrash metal that will leave listeners in awe of its sheer intensity. The album exudes a dark and foreboding atmosphere, with haunting melodies and aggressive riffs that create a sense of impending doom. Standout tracks such as ‘The Zealot’ and ‘Merciless Tyrants’ showcase the band’s ability to seamlessly blend black metal fury with thrash metal aggression. The production quality on ‘Pax Nocturna’ is top-notch, with every instrument cutting through the mix with clarity and power. This album marks a significant progression in Shroud’s career, solidifying their position as one of the leading forces in the extreme metal scene.” – MetalStorm.com.au

““Fans of extreme metal will find a record crafted for them. It’s intense, tightly executed, and overflowing with raw energy. Its lyrical depth explores philosophy, anti‑religion, the abyss and the darkest corners of human existence. The overarching concept is Satanic Gnosticism, a rejection of imposed order and corrupt leadership, and an embrace of the chaos from which humanity originates.” – The Black Metal Archive

“Shroud have delivered a lean, mean, and deliciously dark debut that proves traditional, blackened speed insanity is alive and thriving.” – VM Underground

“Montréal, Québec’s Shroud have released a perfect blending of two extreme genres. Black metal elements of demonic, screechy vocals, tremolo picking, and black and roll beats. Then you have the Thrash tempo changes, galloping riffs, and break-neck speed sections. This album grabbed me by the back of the head and slammed my face into the concrete a dozen times during the first track. It’s not all sound barrier breaking speeds though. There are sections of clear black metal. Down tempo sections. Pure thrash. And every combination of the two sub-genres.” – Mike On Metal

0 Blackened Thrashers ETERNAL DRAK Unleashes New Video “We Force It To Speak” + Quebec Tour Dates For Sixth Album “The Violence of Time” Out Now!

Blackened Thrashers ETERNAL DRAK Unleashes New Video “We Force It To Speak”

+ Quebec Tour Dates For Sixth Album “The Violence of Time” Out Now!

Eternal Drak has released the official music video for “We Force It To Speak”, taken from the band’s newly issued sixth album, “The Violence of Time.” The track, a dense and atmospheric black‑metal assault that opens up the record and embodies the album’s central thesis: that the human attempt to explain reality doesn’t clarify it; it distorts it.

“Trying to understand time doesn’t reveal it. It distorts it… Truth isn’t discovered. It’s enforced,” says the band.

The new video amplifies that tension, merging bleak imagery with the song’s shifting textures, from acoustic passages to suffocating walls of distortion, creating a visual and sonic immersion into Eternal Drak’s conceptual universe.

The video can be watched at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKSsZR39cYU

“The Violence of Time’ is a ten‑track exploration of time as a hostile force, not a neutral medium, but an active pressure that erodes memory, identity, and causality. The band frames time as something that “does not flow; it imposes… it does not reveal meaning; it destroys it.”

Musically, the album is built for old‑school metal devotees: those who crave the rawness of thrash, the darkness of black metal, and the severity of death metal. Eternal Drak’s evolution is on full display, from analog aggression to modern digital density. Each track is a conceptual “violent thesis,” demolishing traditional ideas of past, present, and future. Rather than telling stories, the songs function as reflections of a larger narrative: a short story written by Andres Martinez Torres (Drakar), the band’s main songwriter, about an individual who realizes that time cannot be described, only confronted.

Over the years, Eternal Drak has evolved from raw thrash‑and‑black foundations into a dynamic force shaped by death metal, groove, and even Latin folk influences. Their sound has grown alongside the metal scene itself, adapting to new tools and technologies while preserving the intensity and character that define the band.

About:

Eternal Drak is an extreme metal band based in Quebec City, Canada, originally founded in Latin America in the late ’90s. Rooted in a fierce blend of thrash and black metal, the band has continually expanded its sound with elements of death metal, groove, and melodic experimentation. Lyrically, Eternal Drak explores human and cosmic darkness, a theme present across all seven of its official releases. The band is currently signed to the Canadian label FirstWave.

Formed in 1997 by brothers Drakar and Warhammer, later joined by guitarist Reijav, Eternal Drak quickly gained recognition, winning a City TV award for Best Metal Video in the early 2000s. After releasing early EPs and their first full-length, the band went on hiatus in 2007.

In 2020, the members reunited in Quebec to create The Past Is Gone, A New One Is Coming, honoring co‑founder and drummer Eduardo “Warhammer” Martínez. This revival led to a prolific new era, including the albums Drak Metal (2021), Shadow Storm (2022), Imprisoned Souls (2024), and multiple EPs. The lineup later expanded with guitarist Mike Amyot and drummer Patrick Auger.

Today, Eternal Drak (featuring Andres Martinez Torres (Drakar) – Vocals, Lead Guitar, Bass, and Michel Amyot – Rhythm Guitar) continues to evolve while staying true to its extreme metal roots, driven by intensity, melody, and a commitment to pushing its sound across continents.

“Ultimately, Eternal Drak have created something truly remarkable here. They have taken a genre that often gets stuck in its own formulaic mud and used it to deliver a profound, deeply atmospheric, and heavy-as-hell exploration of human mortality. It is a record that manages to be simultaneously intellectually stimulating and physically punishing. It is a pure example of modern, thoughtful extreme metal. If you are ready to let a Latin-infused hurricane tear through your speakers and remind you of the terrifying fragility of your own existence, do yourself a massive favor: turn this up as loud as it goes and let the violence wash over you.” – The Black Metal Archives

“ETERNAL DRAK delivers a thought-provoking and crushing sixth album ”The Violence Of Time” that balances old-school extremity with philosophical ambition. STANDOUT TRACKS: ”The Blasphemy of Time”, ”Chaos Is the Law”, ”The Cosmos Rejects You”. 9/10″ – Metal Rager 666

“With “The Violence Of Time,” Eternal Drak deliver a well-thought-out, superbly produced, and surprisingly catchy blackened thrash album.” – Metalunderground.at

“This is some pretty good Blackened Thrash that has sick riffs, icy tremolos and eerie harmonies with some solos added to keep it interesting, add it to your lists. Rating: 8.1/10 – Drako Metal Reviews (The Violence of Time – 2026)

“10 new songs that will simultaneously brighten and darken your world… Eternal Drak evolve while staying true to their roots… you need to make time in your life to experience and enjoy the deathly screams and raucous riffs of Eternal Drak.” – The Razor’s Edge

“a really entertaining album that’s relatively accessible for the genre.” – The Metal Crypt

““The Violence Of Time” is focused, severe, and written with an old school extreme metal instinct, offering a cohesive attack with enough variation to hold attention across the full album.” – Heavy Metal Darkness

“another great sounding recording from Eternal Drak and if you are a fan of blackened thrash
metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE “We Force It To Speak” “The Blasphemy Of Time” “Where Cause Is Buried” and “The Cosmos Reject You”. 8 out of 10.” – Bringer of Death Webzine

0 Montreal’s KILLED BY SORROW Unleashes “Betrayal” Off Forthcoming Debut Album “Empires of Excess” Out October 2026

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 25, 2026

Montreal’s KILLED BY SORROW Unleashes “Betrayal” Off Forthcoming Debut Album “Empires of Excess” Out October 2026

Montreal metal outfit Killed By Sorrow has officially announced the release of their first full‑length album, “Empire of Excess,” due out on October 23rd, 2026, to follow EPs “Careless of This Sadness” (2023) and “Time Has Come” (2022). The record marks the band’s most dynamic, emotionally charged, and musically evolved chapter to date.

To give the first glimpse into the album, the band has unveiled the first single, “Betrayal”, a heavy, riff‑driven track built on explosive breakdowns and raw emotional intensity. The song explores the collapse of trust after deep personal betrayal, poisonous lies, emotional wounds, and the breaking point where deception becomes unbearable.

“This is a heavy-punching song with a great breakdown. Great guitar riffs,” adds rhythm guitarist Samuel Ham.

Watch the lyric video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0PWyiTedfs

Add to your Spotify playlist – https://open.spotify.com/track/0nW7DcnjyCJpw4iBTBYdi6

“Empire of Excess” is a refined evolution of Killed By Sorrow’s early sound, still aggressive, still emotional, but more mature, more atmospheric, and more intentional. With 10 tracks, fans can expect a blend of heaviness and melody that draws listeners into the story behind each one. From its polished, immersive production to its mix of fast, downbeat tracks infused with metalcore, thrash, prog, and punk. The record will take listeners into a deep emotional atmosphere with a track list designed to feel like a journey from start to finish,

“The contributions on this record from our bassist Marty Bersier‑Carpentier have significantly shaped the new sonic direction and have been a real blessing in refining our sound,” adds Ham.

Killed by Sorrow emerged from Montreal’s South Shore metal-music scene in the mid-2000s, carving out their identity with a sound heavily inspired by the emotional intensity of Poison the Well, the razor-sharp riffing of Unearth, and the melodic precision of Trivium. These influences shaped the band’s early songwriting, blending aggression with dynamic melodic structures.

During their formative years, Killed by Sorrow built a reputation through high-energy performances across local venues. A major milestone of this era was sharing the stage with renowned Swedish hardcore band Raised Fist, a moment that reinforced the band’s credibility.

As a group of friends, they have been determined to channel the intensity of the music they loved into something of their own. What began as basement rehearsals has quickly evolved into a serious project as the band discovered a natural chemistry.

Recommended for fans of Unearth, Killswitch Engage, Poison The Well, Trivium, and Lamb of God, “Empire of Excess” is due out on October 23, 2026, and available for pre-save/ pre-order at https://killedbysorrow.bandcamp.com/.

Track Listing:
1. The End is Near – 3:38
2. Empire of Excess – 3:04
3. The Burial – 3:28
4. Betrayal – 3:51
5. Never Give Up – 2:37
6. All My Brothers – 3:18
7. In The Spotlight – 3:17
8. Killed By Sorrow – 3:29
9. Unchained – 3:42
10. Stay In Line – 3:28
Album Length: 33:55

“Canadian underground hardcore punks in Killed By Sorrow’s newest single, Betrayal, definitely stays loyal to the metalcore scene by actually sounding like thrash metal tones mixed with a hardcore punk grit and attitude. Heavily distorted rhythms sound closer to your traditional hardcore, but paired with your traditional style of hardcore punk vocals, Betrayal lets you know not to cross Killed By Sorrow. Huge basslines underneath and in-the-pocket drumming made this one an interesting approach in a crowded metalcore genre, and it’s more than worth a few listens.” – Metal Institute of Thrashology (2026)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 21, 2026

Out Now! TRISKELYON New Cover Album “Metalmorphosis” Supercharges Timeless Hits Into Metal Fury

Canada’s unstoppable metal force Triskelyon unleashes “Metalmorphosis,” a digital‑only barrage that reforges iconic rock and pop classics into a high‑octane blast of metallic fury. The album is now available on all major digital platforms as of August 21, 2026, via Moribund Records.

Founded in 2021 by guitarist and mastermind Geoff Waye (Category VI), Triskelyon has carved a fierce path through the underground with acclaimed singles and albums including “Downfall,” “Artificial Insanity,” “Shattered Elysium,” and “Maelstrom of Chaos.” With “Metalmorphosis,” the band pushes its creative boundaries further than ever, delivering a full‑length collection of crushing cover versions forged from the fires of thrash, speed, power, and traditional heavy metal.

Aptly titled, “Metalmorphosis” represents the complete metalization of timeless classics, each track reborn heavier, faster, darker, and more explosive. From the arena‑sized lift of Bryan Adams’ “Summer of ’69” to the brooding tension of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Triskelyon injects razor‑sharp riffing, thunderous rhythms, soaring vocals, and blistering solos into every song. Fan‑favorite covers return as well, including the band’s celebrated renditions of “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Major Tom (Coming Home),” “It Doesn’t Really Matter,” and “Nobody’s Business.”

Drawing from icons such as Tears for Fears, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Men Without Hats, Men at Work, Platinum Blonde, Peter Schilling, and Bryan Adams, the album stands as both a tribute to the golden age of rock and pop and a declaration of Triskelyon’s limitless creative fire. Each track preserves the unforgettable hooks that made these songs legendary while amplifying them into full‑throttle metallic weapons.

More than a covers album, “Metalmorphosis” is a celebration of transformation through metal, a collision of nostalgia and aggression that proves Triskelyon can reshape any musical form into molten steel. As with previous releases, all songs were mixed and mastered by Michael Small, with album artwork by Ellim.

““Hellbound Hellions” follows and is just a great tune. That scream in the beginning and I knew immediately that Pete Healey was back for another album with Waye. The last of the opening trio and it is a slayer. Killer thrash riffs and Healey’s soaring vocals and a really sick solo makes this one of my favorites on the album.4.5/5” – Metal Rules

“It’s refreshing, for once, to discover a thrash band that aren’t geared towards utter devastation but, rather, crafting a record that an audience can simply put on and vibe to. With more than forty-five minutes to work with, the band still stuck to their guns and applied songwriting that saw every minute feel earned and needed for what their performance entailed.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Waye has shown he can write in any metal style and the guys he got together to perform are world class. The production is pretty big too so, if you like Megadeth, Agent Steel, Exodus, Overkill, etc. then there will be something on here that you like. Me? I liked it all! NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 20, 2026

Montreal Thrash Trio OMBRA New Single “Stitches” Is A Moshpit Bruiser! + Debut EP “Night Terror” Out Sept 2026

Rising Montreal thrash trio OMBRA will release their debut EP, “Night Terror,” on September 14th, 2026, unveiling a raw, conceptual journey through fear, obsession, chemical collapse, and the darker corners of the human psyche.

Today, the band is presenting the EP’s second single, “Stitches,” to follow their explosive first track, “Hysteria.”

A haunting exploration of obsession, beauty, and the price of transformation. “Stitches” digs into the psychological spiral of chasing perfection, where flesh becomes a canvas, pain becomes currency, and identity fractures under the knife. Musically, the track blends groove‑driven speed and aggression, showcasing the band’s signature mix of raw emotion and razor‑sharp riffing.

Formed by lifelong friends Giuseppe “G” Criniti (vocals/guitar), Marco Sisti (guitar/bass), and Nico‑Angelo Sisti (drums), OMBRA emerged in late 2020 after G and Marco departed their hard‑rock/progressive project NRTH to pursue a heavier, more aggressive sound. Nico, Marco’s cousin and a well‑known drummer in the Montreal scene, joined shortly after leaving Hidden Pride. With all three members having grown up together in Lachine (a borough within the city of Montreal), the band’s formation felt natural, inevitable, and rooted in decades of shared history.

Written between 2021 and 2026, the band’s debut EP “Night Terror” reflects the band’s lived experiences and observations of a decade marked by upheaval, media distortion, obsession, chemical escape, and psychological unraveling. The EP is intentionally designed as a continuous front‑to‑back experience, culminating in the intense emotional climax of the title track.

“Our objective is to encourage people to explore their own minds, make their own opinions, and live true to themselves. This EP is our commentary on the major events and emotional weight of the last decade,” says Giuseppe “G” Criniti.

Across its five songs, “Night Terror” traces a rising arc of mental tension. Opening track “Hysteria” confronts societal panic and media‑driven chaos; “Stitches” plunges into obsession and the painful pursuit of transformation; “Blue Dream” captures chemical escapism collapsing into paranoia and possession; “Night Terror” delivers a visceral mental freefall where everything goes wrong; and “So It Goes” closes the experience with an instrumental moment of acceptance, peace, and forward motion.

Recommended for fans of Power Trip, High On Fire, Motörhead, Mastodon, Testament, and Rammstein, “Night Terror” will be available on all digital platforms on September 14, 2026.

“OMBRA emerges in ‘Hysteria’ as a force that transforms social chaos into high-impact art. Advancing with the brutality of thrash metal and the structure of hard rock, the track shapes a sound that feels like both a siren and a sentence at the same time. Sharp and relentless, the riffs dialogue with drums that tear through the silence, while the vocals echo indignation and lucidity, a manifesto in the form of distortion. The band builds tension with precision: there is weight, but also clarity; fury, but control.” – Roadie Metal

“Delivering high-quality extreme metal that blends elements of thrash metal with other influences full of raw aggressiveness, a cinematic atmosphere with no soft edges, like a punch to the gut!” – Metal Junkbox

“From the moment we hear the sound of sirens, gunshots, and helicopters flying overhead, we know we’re going to encounter a strong track both in sound and lyrics, because the soundscape they create from the very first seconds already feels dense… the drums and guitar move between agility and the creation of a track full of suspense and tension.” – Poppunkers

‘STITCHES’, the new single from the Canadian trio OMBRA, arrives like an open cut: direct, intense, and impossible to ignore. The song crosses the border between hard rock and thrash metal with aggressiveness, transforming psychological tension into dense and precise sound.” – Roadie Music

“OMBRA is an incredible discovery! A band that shows us metal is more alive than ever… it is the perfect soundtrack to start a mosh and let out all our anger. It maintains brutal riffs worthy of any Metallica fan, an imposing guttural voice… it is 100% recommended!” – End Sessions

“I really felt it wasn’t a song made to sound pretty. It’s dark, heavy, and direct… The story it tells ,a woman who keeps reconstructing herself to fit in, hit me hard… It’s not a song that accompanies you in the background; it’s one that confronts you. It ends and leaves you with that knot in your chest.” – Rockola Indie

“Stitches’ hits hard with a dark and visceral vision of the oversexualization of women and the price of chasing perfection… It is raw, uncomfortable, and impossible to ignore.” – Poppunkers

“Stitches’ explores the limits between obsession, beauty, and self-destruction. The track dives into the mind of someone who seeks perfection at any cost… Musically, it combines aggressiveness and atmosphere, with a fast, dense, and confrontational sound… a sharp and suffocating sonority that amplifies the emotional tension. ‘Stitches’ transforms psychological horror into sonic impact.” – Metal Never Die

“The band delivers one of their darkest and most intense compositions to date. The last single before the release of the EP Night Terror, the track dives deeply into themes such as dependency, paranoia, and the destructive consequences of escaping reality. Combining dense and melodic passages with explosions of weight and aggressiveness, creating a sound experience that is as engaging as it is disturbing.” – Metal Junkbox

‘Blue Dream’ delivers suffocating, volatile metal with heavy riffs depicting psychological terror, chemical dependency, and mental collapse in a dense, cinematic sound.” – Whiplash

Quebec’s DISCOVERY THROUGH TORMENT Begins Its Conquest w/ New Video “Arcane Inception”

New EP “Telesynthetic Rebirth” Out Dec 2025

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC, Canada deathcore juggernaut Discovery Through Torment has unleashed their new music video “Arcane Inception”, offering fans a brutal glimpse into their upcoming EP “Telesynthetic Rebirth,” dropping December 5th.

The video showcases the band’s evolved sound, dense, cinematic, and relentlessly heavy, while introducing the EP’s sci-fi narrative of divine collapse, human abduction, and engineered genocide. It’s also the first release featuring new vocalist Alex Desroches, whose arrival marks a shift toward more immersive, fictional lyricism and a sharpened live presence.

Watch the music video for “Arcane Inception” via Slam Worldwide at https://youtu.be/XLjCTuAoXew

“Telesynthetic Rebirth” is a five-track concept EP that blends slam brutality with blackened deathcore atmosphere, following a deliberate pattern of epic-heavy-epic-heavy-epic. Produced by Maxime Lacroix (House of Gain Studio), the record is layered with synths, alien textures, and suffocating riffs, all crafted to feel like a descent into a hostile, otherworldly invasion.

“Telesynthetic Rebirth” is a tightly constructed five-track concept EP that weaves a dark, cinematic tale of collapse, transformation, and conquest. It opens with “Dethronement,” a sweeping introduction that heralds the fall of the Mangled God, clearing the way for a more menacing force to rise. “Arcane Inception” follows with crushing intensity and dense riffing, revealing the new entity’s plan to abduct and manipulate the “malleable respondents.” At the center lies “Veil Unfurling,” a cold and atmospheric track shaped by medical jargon and inspired by vocalist Alex’s binge of House M.D., portraying the surgical transformation of captives into telepathic servants. “Lesions” delivers the most unrelenting assault, pairing rapid-fire vocals with relentless pacing to warn the remaining humans of their impending doom. The EP concludes with “First Encounter Assault Regiment,” a towering finale that unleashes the full scope of the genocidal campaign, ending on a cliffhanger that teases a possible regime reversal. Fans of the F.E.A.R. video game series will also find hidden tributes woven into the EP, including a clever nod in the final track’s title and a subtle quote from Paxton Fettel embedded in “Veil Unfurling.”

“On this EP, we took the time to experiment a lot and find the right balance between sounding fresh and staying true to our sound. It’s very dark and heavy, and explores new territory for us, especially the sci-fi atmosphere. You’ll still hear our classic tropes, but there are plenty of surprises that feel right at home. We are very proud of this one. It hits HARD,” adds the band.

Discovery Through Torment continues to carve its place in the Canadian underground metal scene with a DIY ethos, commanding live shows, and a sound that’s brutal, dark, sci-fi, groovy, and guttural. For fans of Aversions Crown, Rings of Saturn, and Mental Cruelty, “Telesynthetic Rebirth” is a must-listen.

“Telesynthetic Rebirth” drops December 5th, 2025, on all major platforms.

“Discovery Through Torment ont ouvert la soirée avec leur interprétation de pièce Slam/Deathcore. On a été servie avec des Breakdowns crasseux et des grooves de cavernes. Musiciens talentueux et un chanteur qui contrôle très bien les tonalités de haut à très gras. En fait, c’est bien Alex Desroches qui est aussi chanteur de Ignominy. Leur setlist est disponible sur Spotify

Discovery Through Torment opened the evening with their rendition of slam/deathcore tracks. We were treated to grimy breakdowns and cavern grooves. Talented musicians and a singer who masters the tones from high to very fat. In fact, it’s Alex Desroches who is also the singer of Ignominy.
