San Diego’s thrashers and winners of the 2019 Wacken Metal Battle USA, MONARCH, will be unleashing their sophomore album “Future Shock” this year and have already released the first single/music video “Shred or Die”.

“Shred or Die”
has been part of the band’s live show for a very long time and has stood out as a favorite and a good example of their aim as a band. This track is relevant to current events with lyrical content relating to civil unrest and power-hungry people ruling over others. The music video has received some pushback as it features heavy footage of the riots going on in America during the COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter protests. On the lighter side also features skateboarding around local San Diego skate spots.

Watch the video for “Shred or Die!” on YouTube – https://youtu.be/DOgceZdx2mU

Stream on Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3jTdlbX

Compared to their first, very DIY album, “Future Shock” was done professionally at Clarity Recordings in El Cajon, California, and is a big step forward for the band both musically and sonically. It explores the entire spectrum of MONARCH’s creativity, with each song varying in sound but maintains a cohesive feeling. The band comments on the album:

“We’re all just super excited to get this album out to everyone because I think everyone right now needs something new to get excited about. At the time of this release, the world is still under quarantine from the COVID-19 virus in parts of the world and we think it will be a welcome escape from having to worry so much right now. We should all be cautious of course, but we can’t make our lives not worth living. This album really inspires us to write even better and we’re still amazed at how it came out. We look forward to hearing its response by fans and getting to play it live and loud again.”

And speaking of live and loud, videos of the band’s Wacken 2019 performance can be seen at the following links:

Providing light speed, thrashy power metal, MONARCH is recommended for fans of Children of Bodom, Pantera, and Judas Priest.

“Future Shock” is coming out on April 16, 2021.

““Go Forth… Slaughter” is a loud record that is full of twists and turns. Hopefully this release encourages Monarch to do some touring beyond Southern California, because songs like these need more ears.” – SD Metal

“A very colorful cover can also win over many fence-sitting people – and the rawer attention to detail on the production front gives us a clearer picture of what to expect live (a sinister snare snap plus in your face guitar tones duly noted). Go Forth…Slaughter executes in that late 80’s/early 90’s thrash/death platform, where people lost interest in major label veterans straying into commercial waters. Monarch makes it safe for you to trust their music: brutal, aggressive, and all for the love of the genre.” – Dead Rhetoric

“‘a super solid speed metal record.” – Metal Assault (2017 – Review – Go Forth... Slaughter)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 14, 2020

For fans of Slayer, Kreator, Death

Extreme Metal Music: Thanatopsis Streaming Title Track Off Upcoming Album “Initiation”

“Initiation” Out October 23rd, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music

California’s Thanatopsis have unleashed the title track off their upcoming debut album “Initiation” due out October 23, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music to follow their four independently released demos between 1993-1997.

The band comments about the song:

“The title track of the album, a banger of a song made for headbanging, with technical elements as well. From hidden cults to overt street violence, this song details the initiation into a gang connected to the cult, by means of shooting human targets. Once again, an infiltration ensues.”

Listen to “Initiation” on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music.

After a hiatus, 3/4 of the band has reunited along with the new addition of drummer Jason Borton (Jungle Rot, Arkaik) to offer their debut full-length, which features past recordings that are given a second life and a chance to be heard by a broader audience along with new unheard material. The album was recorded at Trident Studios with renowned producer Juan Urteaga (Exodus, Testament, Machine Head).

The overall album experience shares eight old school thrash/death metal influenced tracks that are an emotionally twisted ride of violently catchy brutality. With themes that include corruption, occultism, murder, revolt, and loss of faith, Thanatopsis delivers an album that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish, with a sound unlike any other.

The band comments:

“It has been a long time in the making and we are very excited to present to the world the first official full-length Thanatopsis album “Initiation”. This album contains timeless songs that fans, both old and new, will appreciate. Bringing our sound to the masses has been a collective dream of ours for a long time. In a scene that is saturated with bands, we are proud to release something that is unique in character to the metal world at large.”

“This new song definitely has a strong and very tasty old-school flavor. It’s a sinister, high-octane death metal rush right out of the gate, but the song really reaches escape velocity at about the 2:00 mark when guitarist David Couch launches a jaw-dropping guitar solo over a memorable melody. – No Clean Singing (Reviewing the song “Your Demise”)

Death/thrash outfit RAIDER, hailing from Waterloo, Canada unleashed their debut album “Guardian of The Fire” this past March. The eight-track LP is a rush of E-standard mayhem, thrash overtones, and blackened vocals. Lyrically, the album’s theme revolves around overcoming lies and hatred that stand between all of us and the truth.

Fans of bands of Sepultura, Annihilator, and Skeletonwitch, RAIDER is one of the underground death/thrash bands to keep an eye on in 2020 as they continue to raise hell in the moshpit.

Earlier in September, the band shared their latest music video “No Sign of The Dawn”, a groovy thrash attack about the cost of taking our world for granted. It’s a reflection on getting human priorities straight.

The band adding:

“Our world stands on the edge of a knife. The virus is but another horseman in the ever-growing mountain of omens. We often get distracted and seem to forget that we are still on our way to one of many total deliverances. We have to unite, think, and speak for ourselves or we will be spoken for. If we do not choose the path that leads us to a better future, we will be forced down a path to ruin, of which there are many, and each of their songs remains the same: For the mortal world there is no sign of the dawn.”

Today, the band reveals their guitar playthrough with visual tabs for the track, which can be viewed via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Guitarists Ira Lehtovaara and Gabe Rosa comment on the playthrough:

“Thanks to everyone who has been cranking the No Sign of the Dawn music video and supporting us in general! We wanted to do something nice in order to show our gratitude so here’s a guitar playthrough for the song with Tabs! If you wanna see more playthroughs for more songs make sure to comment, like, and subscribe!”

“”Bound By No Fate” itself is an unrelenting and chaotic blast of thrash. Even someone who’s not primarily a fan of the harsher vocal style prevalent within death metal should be able to appreciate and get into the new Raider track and upcoming album.” – Metal Injection

“Raider pillage the best of death and thrash for their own blazing (yet fun) fury on debut LP Guardian of the Fire, out March 20. Despite only forming in 2017, the Waterloo quintet sound export-ready, and not just to nearby markets but even to the far reaches of Europe, from which many of their influences hail.” – Exclaim! 8 Emerging Canadian Artists You Should Hear in March 2020

“I think RAIDER is one of the best of the new breed of bands who are playing this style of metal today and “Guardians of the Fire” is well worth your time.” – Metal Temple

“In the end, these eight tracks combine influences from their domestic Canadian roots as well as American finesse and aggression to illustrate the power, precision, and musicianship that keep Raider in league with acts like Annihilator, Exmortus, and Skeletonwitch as far as melodies, hooks, and darkened, savage attacking mechanisms.” – Dead Rhetoric

“GUARDIAN OF THE FIRE is a non-stop hell-storm of pummeling death infused thrash. The album is full of technical riffing and some insanely powerful drumming. Raider has enough ability here to deliver up some of the best riffs in the business with a proficiency that many may possess, but rarely offer up to the masses… Fans of Exodus, Lamb Of God, Exmortus, and Deicide, among others, will find that they are going to have another favorite band to slam to!” – Metal Rules

“Canada is doing great in the thrash stakes this year, what with Warning Sign, Lutharö, Annihilator and plenty more all releasing ‘great’ to ‘phenomenal’ albums. Now the relentless machine of Raider has joined the ranks of great Canadian metal in 2020 to utterly punish and pummel the competition. Guardian Of The Fire is as high quality a debut anyone could possibly ask for, and this quintet look set to burn the world – one Ravenous Hydra at a time.” – Metal Observer

Unleashing their debut album “Prisoners” earlier this month on August 7th via Bungalo Records/Universal, Raleigh, USA’s groove metal brigade WoR are sharing their next music video “Caged”. With their music focusing on various current events. The theme of the debut full length speaks to the idea that people are prisoners in a system that is failing them. The song “Caged” specifically engages on this issue in a variety of literal and figurative ways.

The band adds:

“This is the last song we wrote and it almost didn’t make it onto the album, because it was written so late in the pre-production process. ‘Caged’ was our second single released. This track is straight-up groovy, heavy, and even just plain nasty at points.”

The music video for “Caged” can be viewed via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

Throwing in elements of thrash, metalcore, and even hardcore punk, everyone in WoR has taken a different musical path and the variety of influences shows through in the unique and original sound. “Prisoners” is a little bit melodic and a little bit old school, and completely energetic.

The record is an extreme journey from start to finish, a metal album through and through. There are no clean guitars on the whole album, just heavy and groovy riffs. WoR shares their excitement for the release:

“This album has been in the works for several years and we finally get to show you what we have been working on nonstop for the last year. From front to back, this album is meant to take you on a heavy metal journey. It features groovy tracks such as Predator, brutal songs such as Caged, and melodic anthems such as VI Kings. While the songs are groovy and meant to give your neck whiplash, the lyrics are deep and thought out. The messages behind these songs are ones of resilience and overcoming. If you enjoy heavy riffs, melodic overtones, and just straight-up angry and in your face METAL, this album is for you!”

Groovy, raw, and old school, WoR is suitable for all fans of metal especially those with an interest in Machine Head, Sepultura, and Gojira.

“Prisoners” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Bandcamp.

“a highly impressive slice of groove metal that will most definitely appeal to fans of Lamb Of God, Pantera and  MachineHead. Hailing from the febrile breeding ground of North Carolina, WoR lay it down with intent on ‘Predator’, stalking the deepest reaches of your aural cortexes with the declarative lead single from their forthcoming debut album, ‘Prisoners’: on the evidence of this, they won’t be taking any when it impacts on 7 August.” – Uber Rock

“The songs pack a nasty punch, leaving your body bruised and your nose bloodied. Chuggy riffs, ferocious vocals and some nods to thrash metal propel this album to excellence.” – Abrasive Noise

“…chunky riffs always have a place if they are handled as well as WoR does it.
They work their way through anthemic tunes with heavy subject matters, like “Freedom Suicide” and “Sirens,” with the latter bluntly calling out police brutality.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“Thrashy hardcore pushing into some good grooves cool stuff.” – WORT 89.9FM  – The Moshpit (Madison, WI)

“Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.” – Antichrist Magazine

“Raleigh North Carolina Groove Metal is what “Prisoners” is all about with the raw drum sound during “Kill You” adding an air of “New American Gospel” era Lamb Of God. Crews has the time keeping if the metronomic Chris Adler down to a fine art and his rapid fire, power house performance on this cut gives the Pantera groove riffs and Southern Hostility style breakdowns the underpinning that they need. “Caged” is the longest cut on the album at just over five minutes but is no less ferocious, with DeMoss being a vocal force to be reckoned with, the roars of “don’t waste my time on idol ideas” cutting even the broadest shouldered lumberjack down to size.” – Metal Noise

About:

WoR is a groove metal quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina. Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.

WoR was founded in 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser who at the time was finishing up his college football career playing offensive line at NC State. The band was initially an escape from the rigors of the sport, and at the end of his career, he decided to give the band a legitimate go.

After cycling through a variety of members early on, WoR was joined by Bobby Demoss, the charismatic frontman who has the ability to draw in even the toughest crowd; his unique screaming style and passionate lyrics helped shape WoR’s groundbreaking identity from the get-go. In 2019, Phil Funderburk, the glue who keeps the band and the music together, joined on bass; David Nisoff, in charge of mind-blowing solos that capture everyone’s attention, joined as the second guitarist, and Hunter Crews, a consistent timekeeper and a seasoned veteran in the music business solidified the lineup as the bands’ drummer.

By the spring of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their music at live shows throughout the southeast region of the United States and played with the likes of Upon A Burning Body, Atilla, and Warbringer just to name a few.

Working collaboratively, WoR’s music focuses on various different current events using powerful lyrics to offer a unique insight into the things going on in our lives and in the world. After working closely with producer Joe Alonzo Potts and audio engineer Shaun Singerling, they plan to release their debut album “Prisoners” on August 7th, 2020, which features brutal tracks such as ‘Caged’ and ‘Predator’ in addition to melodic anthems such as ‘VI King’s.

In 2020 and 2021, WoR has extensive tours scheduled to support the release of their debut album “Prisoners”. WoR’s live shows are extremely energetic with fan involvement being a common theme. Demoss does a phenomenal job of breaking down the fourth wall and getting the crowd involved at their shows making way for insane mosh pits. It is the band’s credo that they give it their all for whatever time they are on stage whether they are playing to 2,000 people or 200 people.

WoR, groove metal hailing from Raleigh, USA have a new single out “VI Kings”, from their debut album “Prisoners”, which will be released August 7, 2020.

WoR has been working on this first offering over the course of the last few years, in which they have seen all the members of the band improving drastically at their respective instruments and songwriting capabilities. Their experience of togetherness on every artistic level has allowed them to write technically and musically more complex new material. The band share’s their thoughts on how their debut will be received:

“We are positive that our first album will be received well by fans. Every song is unique with regard to its sound and arrangement. Some songs are straight-up brutal while others present with an extreme sense of groove or even melody. There is furthermore a lot of raw emotion and anger that is captured very well on our record. For this reason, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy.”

What starts with a riff evolves into an amalgamation of elements from various different subgenres of metal, leading to an array of very unique sounds, and the single “VI Kings” is no exception. Opens with dual guitar harmonies that build up into one of the catchier choruses in any WoR song. Tied together in the middle with a melodic solo, VI Kings ends on a straight forward but equally brutal breakdown.

Groovy, raw, and old school, WoR is suitable for all fans of metal especially those with an interest in Machine Head, Sepultura and Gojira.

Continuing to fuel the fire for the full length, the band is sharing with fans their new lyric video for the track “Ravenous Hydra”.  Stating the record revolves around the theme of overcoming, for this song, the story of Hercules versus the Hydra is one that stood out and inspired the band to write about it.

The band explains the track and lyrics:

“Sometimes it feels like when we conquer one hardship, two take its place. In spite of this, it’s important to keep moving forward. Musically, ‘Ravenous Hydra’ shows you just how frantic a fight with the beast would be! Dive into the depths of Lerna and experience the brand new lyric video depicting exactly that! This is a reflection of battle – the chorus is relentless head diving to devour you, and the verses provide a small respite until the final head is claimed.”

Fans of bands of Sepultura, Annihilator, and Skeletonwitch, RAIDER is one of the underground death/thrash bands to keep an eye on in 2020.

About:

Anonymus is a Canadian thrash metal band that explodes on stage with each presence, that pulls you in with its passion and that yells at you with corrosive and violent texts that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Since their first release in 1994, Anonymus has made its mark on the Quebec music scene. From the beginning, the group has been well received while demonstrating its brutal sound and technique that has continually evolved over the years. Oscar Souto (vocals, bass) Daniel Souto (guitar, vocals) Carlos Araya (drums), Jef Fortin (guitar since 2006) and Marco Calliari (vocals, guitar from 1994 to 2006) have since widely traveled the roads of their country, participated in the deprivation of Mononc’Serge and continue today to ignite stages everywhere they go. These veterans of the metal scene continue to proudly carry the torch after 20 years of chaos and barbaric music.

Forever hungry for metal, everyone in Anonymus brings ideas to the table. Sometimes it is a whole song or just the beginnings of one, yet together the band works to create a full thrashy anthem from the pieces, working on it until it is complete. The music always comes first, and when the ambiance is formulated, the lyrics, which come from a personal place and from current events, can be added.

Unstoppable and indestructible, inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; Anonymus is nothing short of the powerful, aggressive and technical thrash metal that they have been refining for decades exemplified on their impressive discography of both French and English releases, which includes: “Ni vu, ni connu” (1994); Stress (1996); Instinct (1999); Daemonium (2002); Academie du Massacre (2003); Chapter Chaos Begins (2006); Musique Barbare (2008); État Brute (2011); Envers et contre tous (2015); P.O.M.M.E (2017); Sacrifices (2019); and their first-ever Spanish album La Bestia (2020) due out June 12 via label Bam&co Heavy.

Today, Anonymus does not need a presentation. This institution of the Quebec metal industry has been offering for twenty-six years, a passion for dark notes and unrivaled power. The offer is still valid. With more than 1500 career shows under their belt, Anonymus is completely in their element when performing in front of fans, they offer only their absolute best ensuring the crowd is moving. Having shared the stage with metal great such as Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, and Kataklysm at festivals such as Heavy Montreal, Montebello, and through international tours, they are no strangers to a wild show.

ANONYMUS FOLLOWS ITS PATH, AGAINST ALL ODDS!

Leading up to the release of their new album “La Bestia” on June 12th via label Bam&co Heavy, Canadian thrash metal maniacs Anonymus is sharing the full length’s lead first single “Sobrevivir”.

This is the 12th album from the Montreal band and it’s a little different from the rest of their French and English discography, being that it is the first full length that will be completely in Spanish. Anonymus explains their thoughts on the release:

“We always try to surpass ourselves as musicians and we always try to write the best songs we can. It’s important to be loyal to what we do but we listen to the new bands and how the metal scene evolves. I think over the years we can feel an evolution in the band’s sound.”

The song comes at an excellent time as it talks about survival in uncertain times full of desperation. The catchy tune is heavy and melodic, with refined techniques and vocal melodies. This is thrash metal at its best. A complete Spanish metal thrashing album that is a compilation of songs written over the years that describes the essence of the band at the peak of what they have to offer. For more detail on “Sobrevivir” the band says:

“This is simply about everyday life. Nothing is easy in the modern world. Each one of us has to work very hard to get where we want to be. It’s a constant fight. As simple as that. We can easily apply this song to our world’s survival in many ways”.

With over 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Anonymus is showing no signs of slowing down. Fans of thrash metal standbys such as Slayer and Testament will no doubt be intrigued by this new offering.

Death/thrash outfit RAIDER, hailing from Waterloo, Canada will be releasing their album “Guardian of The Fire” on March 20th. The eight-track LP is a rush of E-standard mayhem, thrash overtones, and blackened vocals. Before it officially drops, the band is streaming the album in full via its premiere on NoCleansinging HERE.

With a writing process that flows collectively and organically, RAIDER cites that these eight tracks are thematically related and the first single, the title track of the recording, is the apex of the album’s theme regarding overcoming lies and hatred that stand between all of us and the truth.

The band explains:

“This album is about conquering everything that stands between you and the truth. It’s about not settling for the predetermined life that would have you playing puppet in someone else’s show. ‘Guardian of The Fire’ is an affirmation that we should forge our own way in this world – in spite of the overwhelming odds against us.”

In the veins of Sepultura, Annihilator, and Skeletonwitch, RAIDER is one of the underground death/thrash bands to keep an eye on in 2020.

About:

In 2017, Raider naturally came together; maniacs playing death thrash in the unconventional E standard. Stating that they are fans of the inherent tightness they combine it with blackened death metal vocals and lay waste to audiences.

The quintessential Raider song starts with collaborative jamming filled in with grit and blasts of harmony and riffs, resulting in a refined final product. Lyrics stem from experiences, history, literature, our world today, and what our world could be tomorrow. At times they are a reflection of evil and at others, conquering it.

It wasn’t until 2020 that a full lineup was finally realized for Raider. Up until then, the second guitarist had been a fill-in for live shows, but with the addition of Ira Lehtovaara the lineup was complete and carving the path for their next move, the release of LP “Guardian of Fire” set to be unleashed on March 20, 2020.
