SUPERMODEL TAXIDERMY Have Video Out For Thrashy New Single “Blood Painted Dash”

Heavy hitting, aggressive and fun, Canada’s Supermodel Taxidermy takes skate punk, hardcore, and thrash to the next level with loud riffs, catchy lyrics, and infectious energy. They released an EP “A Whorer Story” this past January and maintaining that momentum have a new standalone single “Blood Painted Dash” ready for ears and eyes.

The band expects a solid reception from their fans as it’s a continuation of what “A Whorer Story” was built on – every song has a new feeling and represents different aspects of us all. They are dedicated to building entertaining stories as well as writing hard-hitting riffs and beats. For new listeners, there is a shock factor with the topics they’ve chosen to write about. They detail the track:

“’Blood Painted Dash’ is a story about 3 hellbent teens that end up dying from their own recklessness due to drugs & alcohol, causing themselves to crash a car over a cliff. The kicker here though is that they wake up dead in the morgue having to piece together in terror what they have done. The subtle story we are pushing with this song is don’t drive under the influence…because you just may wake up dead!”

This single is a gory taste of what is to come in the new music that Supermodel Taxidermy is working on right now. They anticipate having an album ready for next year which spans topics of current societal issues and fun pop culture stuff such as horror movies. That record is a collaboration of 3 like minds and passionate musicians.

Supermodel Taxidermy started during the pandemic, it was a way for Maynard to keep sane and get ideas out of his head that had been in contemplation for a while. He wrote the songs and recorded the demos before reaching out to the studio and musicians he used to record the EP. After the restrictions were lifted, he started jamming these songs with various artists until he came across the guys that are now in the band.

Best described as thrashy skate punk meets Slayer, Supermodel Taxidermy is recommended for fans of Iron Reagan, D.R.I., and Suicidal Tendencies.

The music video “Blood Painted Dash” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit at https://youtu.be/7w8AsOL6L08

EATEN BY SHARKS Pay Homage To The Lord Of The Ocean In Drum Playthrough For “Apex Predator”

Hailing from the Niagara region of Canada, Eaten By Sharks has a new album “Eradication” that will throw listeners into a typhoon of riffs, breakdowns, gritty vocals, and heart-pounding drums. Those drums in particular are on display in their latest video, a drum playthrough of the track “Apex Predator”.

If the Jaws riff is not enough of a hint, this song switches the point of view from the victim of the merciless ocean, to that of the victor itself. The viewer can watch and feel their heart rate increase with the thundering drums and crashing cymbals when they assume the role of the terror of the sea. Vocalist Matt Matt Sherriff shares his inspiration for the lyrics on the album:

“I love horror movies and I aim for the nautical themes to keep them consistent with the ideals of the band. The amazing nature of sharks is that they can adapt to any surroundings and do their thing and create a natural equilibrium. We need the horror, nature ain’t always nice and we like to celebrate wickedness.”

The drum playthrough video for “Apex Predator” can be viewed via its premiere on TheCirclePit at https://youtu.be/YGyzEg3ZEZ0

“Eradication,” tells a story of nautical destruction. The listener will be struck with feelings of fear as they are brought along in the first-person horror story, a victim of society in a merciless assault of sharks infiltrating the human world.

Punishing and at times disturbing, Eaten By Sharks have all their personalities intertwined into the fabric of the sound, working collaboratively on their music. Music almost always comes first and the aggressiveness allows for lots of vocal freedom and different styles of tech vocals and classic death metal.

With a wide range of musical influences, Eaten By Sharks promise to leave no one alive. They are recommended listening for fans of Revocation, Gojira, and Despised Icon.

The album “Eradication” was released on August 26, 2022, and available at the following links:

“If you’re new to the group, they’re from Ontario, and like the majority of Canadian tech-death bands, they’re damn good at what they do. Don’t let the goofy band name and oddball cover art fool you, this is not amateur hour stuff… As for what the song has to offer, “Depth Charge” is built on continual flipping back and forth between heavy groove terrain and frenetic riffs aided by ripping leads. In doing so, the song feels almost wave-like in its structure, an ever-changing stream of back and forth battling going on underwater. From the time I’ve spent listening to the full release, this is definitely an album many of you will enjoy.” – Metal Injection

“Eaten By Sharks bring aquatic brutality to Technical Death Metal… Eradication should be of great interest to fans of bands like Fit For An Autopsy, Cattle Decapitation, and Revocation and will be available as a CD or digital download. So take my advice, stay out of the water, go grab a copy and let the feeding frenzy begin upon some other unsuspecting victims.” – Metal Talk

“These guys are all business, and put together a pretty compelling, often crushing effort ” – Metal Rules

“Eradication is an absolute blast and one that hits just as hard as you want it to, and is just as serious as you want an album from a band called Eaten By Sharks to be. I wholeheartedly recommend this beast and hope that you have fun listening to it. I did.” – Noob Heavy

“I just discovered Eaten by Sharks, and the band is a good surprise. Their mix of several styles focused on raw violence and devastating technicality makes Eradication an explosive and extremely effective album.” Acta Infernalis

“Eradication is a cracking slab of death metal, excellently written and performed to a high level.” The Razor’s Edge

“Combining new and old Death Metal influences, Eaten By Sharks have proven themselves to be a cut above the competition at the top of the food chain ” – Metal Noise

Exitus Stratagem Records – “Collateral Damage” Is Coming From AITTALA’s Doomy New Album “Live to Regret”

“Live to Regret” Out November 7th

Aittala can best be described as eclectic doom, they have taken inspiration from other genres such as sludge, power, and traditional metal. They are gearing up to release their sixth album “Live to Regret” this fall and to intrigue listeners, they offering their first single “Collateral Damage” accompanied with a music video. The single is a hard rock/metal track about dealing with relationship ultimatums set to catchy, memorable riffs and comes with a video. They had this to say about it:

“It was the first song written for the album during the pandemic. The lyrics were inspired by a very chaotic relationship one of the band members was going through at that time. The girlfriend was very controlling and kept drawing lines and giving ultimatums until it reached the breaking point and the relationship shattered. The music flowed as organically as the lyrics and it came together very quickly. We are very proud of this song and video and excited for the fans to experience it!”

Watch and listen to “Collateral Damage” via its premiere on TheCirclePit YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/ZKuIKuQohoE

The album “Live To Regret” has eleven tracks, all written during the pandemic, and conveys a sense of chaos that the band members were experiencing at the time. Compared to the albums that came before it, the core of the Aittala sound remains constant, but steadily matures over time. The first two albums were more experimental using programmed drums with heavy use of keys/synthesizers. After drummer Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith joined the band in 2012, the writing started to tune in to his drumming style and become more guitar orientated. In 2019, bassist Ali Lugo joined and brought a different musical perspective that is infused throughout the new album.

The original incarnation of Aittala was formed in 1991 in The Netherlands while guitarist/vocalist Eric Aittala was stationed there with the United States military. For about 18 months, they played shows around The Netherlands and started to create a buzz around the scene. Unfortunately, Aittala had to leave the country at the end of 1993 when his military contract ended. The project lay dormant for quite some time while Eric played in other bands, but he continued to write and record Aittala songs as a side project. In 2009, he made the decision to concentrate on Aittala again as his only musical endeavor.

Aittala’s sound is one that is hard to narrow down, they have managed to etch out a uniqueness all their own, but will find favor with those interested in Mastodon, Eyehategod, and Baroness.

“Live to Regret” will be available on November 7, 2022, via Exitus Stratagem Records and was produced by Eric Aittala and John E. Wooten IV, who also mixed the record along with mastering by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering. Album artwork by Mariano Pugliese.

About: The music of AITTALA (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre.

The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric Aittala was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene.

With the release of the 3-song EP ‘Selling Heaven’ in summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST. Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA.

Over the next decade or so, Eric played in numerous bands (TRIBE, MAGNETHEAD, DWELL) and lost focus on AITTALA.

Near the end of the 00’s, Eric decided it was time to refocus his efforts on the AITTALA brand. From 2009 to 2016, AITTALA released 4 full-length albums: ‘Bed of Thorns’ (2009), ‘Haunt Your Flesh’ (2011), ‘Effigy’ (2014) and ‘American Nightmare’ (2016). Each album showcasing a natural progression of song writing and lyrical content but retaining the core AITTALA sound and evolving it.

In 2019, AITTALA signed with Curtain Call Records and released the band’s fifth full-length album ‘False Pretenses’. It was ten brand new songs that not only continued the song writing evolution of heavier but catchy songs, but also sonically. AITTALA used an entirely different approach for the recording, mixing and mastering to create the best AITTALA album to date.

The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass.

They continue to write, record and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses with plans in 2022 to unleash their sixth studio album entitled “Live To Regret” to be released by label Exitus Stratagem Records.

“The band’s sound is difficult to pigeonhole because they incorporate a variety of styles. The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“I would describe them as an eclectic Doom Metal band, although their sound is a bit tough to define. That’s ultimately a good thing though, and I enjoy the refreshment of something different. My only major complaint is that on some songs, the vocals and lyrics are so drawn out that they become a little boring and you end up waiting a bit for something cool to happen. The good news is something cool usually does end up happening” – Metal-Temple

“In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – The Metal Channel

Canada’s All Else Fails is releasing its tenth studio recording this year, the aggressive and forlorn EP “The Incident at Black Lake”. Intended to be listened to as a single piece of music, it is dark, both musically and lyrically as vocalist/guitarist, Barrett Klesko wrote his parts in the darkest, most distressed headspace he has ever been in. He says that during the writing of this album, he was convinced that he had been unglued from time, and was barely functioning. This personal torment boils over into the first track written for the EP “I, Defiler”. Klesko explains further:

“In the early days of my spiral, when confusion about my own state was at its highest. I was doing everything I could to understand the suffering I was experiencing. I tried using Acid in an attempt to explore my own mind. Informally guided trips allowed me to see aspects of myself that I hadn’t considered, and I was desperately searching for clarity I couldn’t find in the real world. Primarily this song is about those explorations of self, both the positives and the futility. Musically the song is erratic, kinetic, and industrial. It is heavy, both in guitars but in electronics and noise as well, and carries a time change into its bridge that furthers the disconnect between perception and reality.”

“I, Defiler” is the brutal duality of man. Of the search for knowledge, while being blind to our own instincts and ambitions. It is poisoning one’s self to be able to see clearly. It is the beauty and loss of the endless night sky. It is seeing one’s self and being repulsed by the hollow behind our own eyes. It is despairingly industrial, always changing, relentless in its own turmoil; shifting between grinding guitar work and guttural screams to unnerving digital cleans backed by melodic programming.

Compared to their other nine albums, “The Incident at Black Lake” is heavier than they have been in a while, which fans always love from them, but it’s also much stranger. There is a lot of chaotic energy in the recording, but they have placed every distorted chug, every strange gurgle, detuned synth, erratic glitch, or doom-inducing bass drop carefully.

Recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, Revocation, and Soilwork, the single “I, Defiler” can be heard via TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/x_6SuAOiS1A

About:

Over the last 15 years, Edmonton, Alberta based award-winning metal band All Else Fails has become a cornerstone of the melodic heavy metal community in Canada. Combining intense riffs, intricate rhythm sections, brutal guttural screams, and melodic yet unusual vocal lines paired with relevant and relatable lyrics, All Else Fails’ message resonates with us all.

Formed in 2006 with the release of their self-titled EP, All Else Fails has gone on to release 9 studio albums, many of which have garnered awards and nominations from across the Canadian music industry and have propelled the band into live performances all over the world, including their massively successful tour of India in 2017.

For the past two years, the band has been hard at work writing their new album “The Incident at Black Lake.” A deeply personal, brutally honest, and staggeringly complex take on the reality-bending mental struggles of vocalist and founder, Barrett Klesko (The Misfires, The Order of Chaos). The band is filled out by guitarist John Saturley (The Order of Chaos, Skepsis), bassist and vocalist Coco Lee (Eternal Prophecy), and drummer Nelson Collins-Lee (The 21st Agenda, Skepsis). The album is produced by Bevin Booth of In the Booth Recordings and engineered at The Electric Treehouse in Edmonton, Alberta.

In 2022, the band is returning to their DIY roots by mindfully abandoning their social media and redirecting their energy to contributing to their local metal scene by building a direct personal connection to their fans and followers, living in line with a humanist philosophy and encouraging a culture of support between artists. All Else Fails’ new single “Flesh /Excess /Wealth” drops in early September with the full EP “The Incident at Black Lake” releasing September 30th. Fans can experience their explosive new live show this fall in Western Canada.

Quebec City’s UPON YOUR GRAVE Rise To New Heights With “Transcend” Off “Gold & Decay”

Hailing from Quebec City, Canada, Upon Your Grave are a solid melodic death metal outfit that has a savage new EP coming out this year and a second music video to compliment it. This new video is a lyric video for the song “Transcend”, the final song on the album that rounds out five tracks, which offers a new perspective on the band that has been around since 2009. Vocalist Jordan Jolicoeur is a huge sci-fi geek and that lends to a lot of the lyrical themes on the EP, exemplified on the single. He explains in his own words:

“Transcend talks about a dystopian future where we put our bodies on warranty with cybernetic enhancements and augmented brains. Searching for a way to ascend with technology and bring the next step in evolution. Heavily inspired by Ghost in the Shell and cyberpunk elements, this one might interest listeners who like these aesthetics or know them. It’s a big song that begins with a slap in the face, brutal riffs, and relentless drumming. bringing you in deep waters all along until it lets you breathe with a shredding solo. we really like this one as it is an experience to play it as a band.”

In Upon Your Grave, all the songs are written by guitarist Sim Diamond, who took part in Sam Dunn’s Shredders of Metal season 1 (video) and made it all the way to the semi-finals in Toronto. He was joined by Jolicoeur and guitarist Alex Bussieres and then Sebastien Gagné on drums and Yan Pelletier on bass, two good friends from the local band Scars Of Disgrace, the band had found their perfect lineup to go forward.

Upon Your Grave delivers exactly what metalheads want from a death metal band – exciting fast riffs; steady, thundering drums, well-written lyrics, and an ambiance that is conducive to headbanging, and moshing. After giving this record a spin or two, people are going to be into it and will be demanding more. They are recommended for fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, The Absence, and Decapitated.

About:
Established in 2009, Quebec, Canada-based death metal act, Upon Your Grave, is finally back swinging.

In 2019, at the dawn of the band’s 10th anniversary, Sim Diamond, Alex Bussieres and Jordan Jolicoeur grasped the opportunity given by the lockdown to start writing and rehearsing for a new album. This is their first effort since the Eponym debut album back in 2013. During their time away from Upon Your Grave, each member stayed active by releasing albums with other projects like Vibrant Heels and Universal Minds. Lead guitarist Sim Diamond also got to be part of Sam Dunn’s Shredders of Metal season 1 and made it all the way to the finals in Toronto. Now adding two new members to the mix, Sebastien Gagné on drums and Yan Pelletier on bass, two good friends from the local band Scars Of Disgrace, the band had found their perfect lineup to go forward.

With the help of a successful GoFundMe campaign, the band was able to go record a new EP with Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy in March of 2022. this collaboration was the perfect fit that would elevate their performances to a more genuine and aggressive sound. Incorporating crushing vocals blended with catchy melodies, bad-ass guitar riffs and memorable solos that remind us of bands such as Daath, Lamb of God, Sylosis and even All Shall Perish.

Gold & Decay proves that work ethic and perseverance can truly refine a band’s sound to what they had always been striving for. This new release will be a fresh start for great things to come and is only the beginning of a flourishing career.

“UPON YOUR GRAVE has a lot of energy to extinguish throughout their debut, it consists of great ideas and musical diversities. The band’s passion for traditional Melodic Death Metal is noticed and felt, yet their combination of Rock and progression really benefited their efforts even more. This one is highly recommended, get ready to bang your heard.” – Metal Temple

“If you can stomach the screams then you’ll find yourself listening to an album from a band who pack plenty of punch. The songs are full of beef, easy to get into, and work well for loosening those neck muscles. Whether this album wins or loses though, rests simply on how much of an assault your eardrums can take.” – V13

“Eponym donne accès à un énorme buffet de epic guitar, solo bien garni, accompagné de rythme franc, de quoi conquérir les fans de: Children of Bodom, In Flames et Trivium.” – Ondes Chocs

0 Canadian Metalcore AQUILA Shares Vocal Playthrough “A City Risen” Off New EP “The Great Fire”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 13, 2022

Canadian Metalcore AQUILA Shares Vocal Playthrough “A City Risen” Off New EP “The Great Fire”

Hamilton, ON, Canada’s AQUILA marked their return in 2022, with their new EP “The Great Fire” unleashed this past June. The EP follows their two 2020 EPs “Valle Mortalitatis”(Feb) and“Jewel of the Empire’s Crown”(July).

Historical buffs for the Roman Empire, the four-track concept record speaks of the Roman Emperor Nero who was known for the killing of the Christian population, and The Great Fire of Rome (Jul 18, 64 AD – Jul 23, 64 AD). This recording is musically the most brutal and progressive material the band has written emphasizing the METAL into METALcore once again.

“We write about Roman events and themes like battles and certain emperors. It was brutal times back then, so the listener gets a little history lesson as well. I write my own twists and spice things up for the story in the song.” adds vocalist Mark Arruda.

Today, in support of the new recording, vocalist Mark Arruda is sharing his vocal playthrough for “A City Risen“. He explains the song in further detail:

“The song is at a slower pace, but hits heavy with many hooks. I think it’s my best vocal performance ever. I used my singing range for this one, not just straight death metal vocals for this one.”

The vocal playthrough can be heard and seen via TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/XGEJ7Eokrnc

Brutal, heavy, and catchy, Aquila‘s “The Great Fire” offers up a rollercoaster ride of the band’s best material to date. From the opening and explosive title track “The Great Fire” to the “Emperor’s Curse”, the most progressive song AQUILA has ever written, that was inspired by their own tune, “Bound For Glory”, from their 2009 debut album “Imperium”, it’s a track that travels into Tool-like drumming and guitars with a catchy hook at the end of it. After a very brutal beheading and crucifixion of Christians to Nero taking his own life, track 3 “A City Risen” is about what Nero is thinking before he takes his life or even after his death. EP closer, “The Plague of Galen” was written when vocalist Mark Arruda and drummer Mark McGuire reconnected just before the Covid pandemic and felt it was fitting to write a song about a plague that happened in Rome many centuries ago. The song has a melodic death metal feel to it that you can certainly headbang to. The breakdown in the middle is crushing, ending with Iron Maiden-influenced guitar playing.

With all its fury and melodic groove, “The Great Fire” is just the next taster for fans old and new alike, as the band continues writing for a full-length album to be released in the near future. The band adds:

“We want our listeners to experience the emotions on this EP, there are elements to headbang to and elements of anger and sadness as well. Each track is different from one another with a lot of hills and valleys.”

Recommended for fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and In Flames, AQUILA‘s new EP “The Great Fire”, released on June 30th is available on Spotify, Aquilametal.bandcamp.com (CD), Apple Music.

About:
Aquila is a Canadian metalcore band from Hamilton Ontario. The roots of their sound are from the early 2000s metal scene.

They started in 2006 with Matt McGuire (drums) and Anthony Rimac (guitarist) in Windsor Ontario. In 2009, Aquila entered the studio with Chase Bryant (current bassist for Warbringer), Matt Shelson (guitarist), and Mark Arruda (vocalist) and began working on their debut album, Imperium, with Glenn Fricker in Windsor, Ontario. From 2009 to 2013, they toured for their album across Canada, including a lengthy east and west coast tour, and multiple weekly shows in Ontario. Sharing the stage with the likes of Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Misery Index, Threat Signal, and many more, Aquila with their aggressive stage attitude can sure entertain and work the crowd.

In 2020, Aquila released 2 Eps, Valle Mortalitatis and Jewel of the Empire’s Crown. The 7 songs were recorded back in 2013 with Glenn Fricker, but were never released at that time.

Now with new guitarist Tony Medina and bassist Colin Wakil, Aquila worked hard to release a new EP called The Great Fire in 2022. The 4 songs were written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Aquila. A video for the title track, The Great Fire, was recorded by the band as well.

“We started writing for this EP in 2020. The pandemic made it very difficult to get together. We also had to find a new guitarist. Once Tony joined the band he quickly learned the songs and started helping us record and mix ourselves. No pressure, just us in our element. I think the growth and maturity in our sound on this Ep. is obvious. This Ep is us, brutal and in your face.” – Mark Arruda – Aquila

Aquila’s latest EP “The Great Fire” was released on June 30th, 2022, and is available on all digital platforms.

– 30 –

“Aquila strikes that excellent balance between aggression, heaviness, and constructing memorable earworms that keeps up listener engagement. The Great Fire embodies an ideal melodeath metalcore product – ready to take the band up from the underground into making worldwide impressions with their music.” – Dead Rhetoric (2022)

“There are plenty of great guitar solos and fills on this album, with the ones in ‘Bound For Glory’ and ‘Within These Flames’ especially standing out…. Aquila’s “Imperium” brings the fury back to metalcore, creating an album full of aggressive vocals and face-melting riffs and solos. “Imperium” is a mostly great debut from a band that’s hopefully on its way to even greater heights.” – Metal Underground (2010)

“A notable difference between Aquila and other Southern Ontario bands is that they thrash throughout their songs, have great guitar leads and refrain from plastering breakdowns throughout their music. They keep it raw and interesting…. Everyone should pick up a copy of Imperium next time Aquila comes to your town. Fans of Assassinate The Following, Unearth, Bloodshoteye and Odium will headbang to Aquila. This band will be legend… Wait for it…. dary.” – V13 (2011)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 17, 2022

30 immolated; 16 returned’s New Video “The Antechamber of Hell” Reimagines Paulo Passolini’s Infamous Film “Saló or 120 Days of Sodom”

Hamilton, ON, Canada’s obscene and brutal avant-garde quartet 30 immolated; 16 returned have a new music video inspired by the terrifying reimagining of Paulo Passolini’s infamous film Saló or 120 Days of Sodom based on The Marquis de Sade’s novel of the same name. “The Antechamber of Hell”, which is a track off the band’s 2019 self-titled debut album, is a video that might be too gruesome to watch and the band is giving a warning that it might be NSFW for some, so make sure you’re in a safe space when viewing.

Dr. Death (garotte and vomit) adds:

“The video encapsulates imagery from the entire story including the abduction, torture, and eventual murder of a chosen victim portrayed by actress Xena T. With the aid of make-up artist Stacy Vervaecke, Duane Lyons of Bangover Media storyboarded, planned, filmed, and edited the video himself proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the metal video genre. The video perfectly reflects the band’s sexually sadistic lyrics and aesthetic appearance in the debut self-titled album.”

Watch “The Antechamber of Hell” via its premiere on TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/VeHbrCAyAeo

30 immolated; 16 returned are one of Canada’s most despicable extreme metal bands. Developed through intense and abstract systematic theories of chaos and transgression – 30 immolated depicts the sexual taboos found in the Marquis de Sade’s 120 Days of Sodom, through a non-stop battery of screaming guitars, punishing drums, and thundering bass accompanied by the cries of torture and violence. In addition, Madame Champville often brings her favourite pet(s) / slave(s) along, who under threat of further violence, distribute gifts of Shit Cookies and Blood to the band’s spectators.

30 immolated; 16 returned began their sadistic journey in Edmonton, Alberta, but have since moved to southern Ontario in search of new willing victims! They have since performed several concert dates in Toronto and Hamilton, most notably at the Hamilton Death Fest for Neurotic Entertainment and as openers for Toronto’s own Arcanevil, and for Mexican death metal outfits Darkside Ritual and Disrupted.

30 immolated; 16 returned ’s sonic violence has been exported internationally with physical and digital sales in China, the United States, and Slovenia. Their goal is to continue to expand their terror throughout southern Ontario, Canada, and beyond to the rest of the world!

They have unleashed two albums, their latest offering was released in 2021, “The Burial of the Dead”, an arrangement of Igor Stravinsky’s controversial 1913 ballet “The Rite of Spring”, which followed the band’s 2019 self-titled debut.

Both albums can be found on 30immolated16returned.bandcamp.com, Spotify.

June 18 – Doors Pub – Hamilton, ON w/ HEXIS, Cryophilic, Svneatr

Montreal, QC’s Eternal Closure has long been a metalcore mainstay in the Eastern Canadian music scene, but is taking on a new identity with their next album “At the Center of It All – Chapter I” produced with Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy), which not only showcases their new vocalist, but also gives fans a chance to check out how they have progressed musically, incorporating influences such as post-rock, prog metal, and djent. The first look into their new album is the single “Practice What You Preach”, one of the band’s most aggressive cuts. They explain further:

“This song is a full-on thrash assault for most of its duration. The chorus then becomes a bit more of a heavy groove. The riffs then become a bit more prog in nature while retaining the thrashy aggressiveness. After the end of the bridge, we bring the song down into a soft clean bridge that slowly develops into this anthemic guitar duo section and eventually goes back to the beginning of the song with the intensity at its peak. The ambient outro then leads directly into Exiled. The lyrics deal with people who think they have it all figured out and resent other people they judge not worthy of speaking on anything.”

On “Practice What You Preach”, every member gets a chance to shine on one of the album’s most cathartic tracks, where old-school thrash riffs seamlessly blend with melodic guitar solos and modern production. The music video shows a woman starting to see the ugly side of herself that she buried inside, starting to replace who she thought she was. Mirror imagery was used in almost every shot to emphasize the theme. Montreal-based filmmaker Matt Veillette and his team really went out of their way to create powerful and evocative scenes that enhance the song’s message.

As for the rest of the album, Eternal Closure presents a heavier sound than ever before. Their lyrics are darker and meaner overall and the music reflects that. They decided to split the album into two parts to give the material more of a chance to breathe. It’s not quite a concept album, but many lyrics and musical ideas are re-used throughout.

With a wicked rush of potent riffs, powerful vocals, and unending passion, Eternal Closure offers a lot for fans of core and proggy genres, they are most suitable for fans of Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, and Currents.

Our Dying World Address Atrocities In “Survivor” Off “Hymns Of Blinding Darkness”

New Album “Hymns Of Blinding Darkness” Due Out June 24th

Photos Credit – Jamie Kaufman

L-R – Austin Mitrofanis (Guitar), Graham Southern (Keyboards and Orchestration), Tom Tierney (Drums), David Ainsworth (Vocals), Raymond Sanchez (Guitar), Nick Laux (Bass)

Our Dying World’s drummer Tom Tierney attended a small boarding school in New York state, which has gained notoriety after a disproportionate number of former students choose to end their lives, and the atrocities, torment, and abuse that took place at the school have come to light. These horrors have been channeled into the single “Survivor”, which is haunting and diverse.

The song starts with clips of a joyful choral arrangement of Tierney’s high school choir before now-deceased student Jon Martin Crawford echoes his testimony in the Supreme Court. This is followed by heavy and slow riffs, acoustic and clean vocal breaks, anguished howls, and desperate pleas of a boy who was once left in the woods at a school filled with cultists and now shoulders the pain of feeling like there’s something wrong that no one will ever understand. The band comments:

“Survivor was one of those songs that we threw into the single list to really bring diversity to the two standalones before we released the record. We want to give the listener both sides of the spectrum and then let your imagination take you to what you think you’ll hear next. Aside from it being a very deep and personal song, Tom thought it might be best that the song gets its own time to stand alone so that the alumni would get to see it more for how it was written as a personal feeling and effort to work through some major issues, and not just as another song on an album that’s lumped in with some metal songs. Tom put a lot of work into this and wanted certain people to know that it was not just another topic that went into a record; there are certain people we hope it brings some closure too about events that aren’t widely discussed.”

Throughout the song, the listener can hear the agony that Tierney conveys hearing that his fellow alumni are slowly dying off, and with everything he has in him he dedicates this song to them. Through the solos, the listener can almost feel the weeps and cries in his notes and bends.

“Survivor” is heavy, both musically and in melancholia. It is recommended listening for fans of Lamb Of God, Wintersun, and Children of Bodom.

About:

Over the last few years, Los Angeles’s Our Dying World has gone through a tremendous evolution of sound from thrashy death metal of their debut EP Expedition to the symphonic and melodic keyboard-oriented stylings of bands like Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, and Dimmu Borgir.

Formed in 2018 by drummer/guitarist Tom Tierney (ex-Whiplash), the group has played shows all over the USA in their short time together, bringing their sound from the fabled Sunset Strip in Hollywood to the New Jersey Metalfest where they opened for Metal Mike of Halford.

One thing is clear from the young band as they prepare for the release of their second release; they’ve come to stir the standards that hold the metal scene and redefine them.

– 30 –

“We’ll make you a solemn promise: Whatever condition you happen to be in now (unless you’re in a coma), the song and video we’re about to present will make you feel orders of magnitude more alive, accelerating your heart-rate, igniting your fast-twitch muscles, and spinning your head like a glorious top. And for those of you who want your music to attack like a pack of rabid dogs, it fills that need, too. The song is “Veil of the Reaper“, and it comes from Hymns Of Blinding Darkness, the forthcoming album by the Los Angeles band Our Dying World. The new album marks a significant departure from the music on their debut, Expedition, moving in directions that may spawn memories of such bands as Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, and Dimmu Borgir, and you’ll get a vivid understanding of that when you hear “Veil of the Reaper“.” – No Clean Singing

“Closing with the excellent Melodic Death Metal-esque piece “Veil of the Reaper”, Our Dying World manages to keep the listener’s attention with soaring guitar melodies, engaging keyboards, and overall solid songs that are well crafted but need more of a personal identity. There are definitely plenty of excellent things about this release that fans of the genre will greatly appreciate, so don’t be afraid and check out this band.” – Infernal Masquerade

Join The Swarm With Quiescent Mantis And Their New Lyric Video For “Shake The Cage”

L-R – Johnny Mejia – Drums, Chris Trainor – Guitarist / Backup Vocals, Jordan Mckenzie – Bass and Vocals

Quiescent Mantis, born from heavy metal sounds crossed with old school science fiction movies, brings a new, campy lyrical vibe to solid traditional groovy riffs. The furious trio of guitarist Chris Trainor, bassist/vocalist Jordan Mckenzie, and drummer Johnny Mejia came together to deliver one face-melting lick after another while the ground below them shatters with breakdowns. They have an album in the works, but for now, they are releasing the single “Shake The Cage” with a lyric video. It started as an instrumental, but has since developed lyrics, the band details the track:

“It was the first song we wrote for the album with its sole purpose to show our music ability and a way for all of us to showcase what this next chapter in the swarm and our album is going to be like. We were shooting for a song that will keep the audience moving when played live whether it means headbanging, moshing, singing, or all of the above. The song defines our sound and our music abilities as better than anything we have released so far.”

Quiescent Mantis released their debut EP “Chapter 1” last year, and while they find their niche has gone from a more traditional thrash sound to a truer heavy metal sound with paper shredding leads, earth-shaking bass lines along with almost machine-like drumming. They aim to provide a unique experience with a mixture of old school thrash and new school metal techniques such as breakdowns which will be prevalent on the next album.

“Shake The Cage” will catch people’s attention as it is very melodic and heavy on great grooves. Add in some absolute crazy breakdowns and you have a track with a little bit of everything for everyone. Fans of Killswitch Engage, Pantera, and Machine Head will be especially interested in what Quiescent Mantis has to offer.

About:
Former scientists Chris Trainor, Jordan McKenzie, and Johnny Mejia were previously employed by Sub-atomic Weight of Acceleration Research Mechanics or S.W.A.R.M. While working on a project involving particle collision the team inadvertently tore open a brief doorway to the mantis homeworld exposing themselves to a mind-altering pheromone in the process.

The trio is now obsessed with opening the portal permanently allowing their mantis overlords access to our world; they are harbingers of the Swarm, selected to terraform and prepare Earth for the coming invasion. Wielding mighty instruments of sonic assault they herald the approach of the swarm of the brutal blend of thrash death metal and hardcore. The Swarm has slumbered in exile for far too long, the gates are ready to open, and it’s time to join the Swarm!
